And to top it all off, his ex-future-father-in-law frames him for drug trafficking and gets him arrested right after the

A closer look
Julieta intercepts Paulina outside the beauty parlor and shows the beaming bride the documents proving that her father swindled his business partners out of their personal fortunes. It’s Pau’s decision: her dad’s freedom or her marriage to Adrián. The only way Julieta could forgive the fraud committed against her late father is if Pau gives up Adrián. Paulina tries to reason with the unreasonable: What happened between their parents is neither hers nor Adrián’s fault. They love each other and if they are not together, they will be utterly miserable. Julieta is adamant to make Paulina pay for taking Adrián away from her. The nutter sister adds that Adrián will be much happier with her. She warns Pau one last time, before jumping on her broom and taking off: Either she cancels the wedding or the entire Murat family will fall from grace (caer en la desgracia)!
Mónica wraps the wedding gift that they intend to offer Paulina. It’s a painting of the Virgin that she hopes will bless and protect Pau’s marriage. The kids gush over their friends Paulina and Mauricio. They hope that they’ll continue to meet them at Playa de las Tortugas after Pau gets married. Elisa reveals her party outfit and everyone is impressed with how elegant she looks. She tells them they’d better get ready because they must arrive to the wedding on time. Mónica says she is very curious to meet this Paulina and her friend Mauricio that are driving René and Alan crazy (traer de cabeza a alguien).
Gonzalo is on the phone to Silvestre to ask if everything is going according to plan. “¡Simona la mona!” replies the goon, which is a very naff and tacky way of saying Yes Siree Bob in Mexican slang.
Jaime is in Adrián’s hotel room to show him his tattered suit, courtesy of Julieta’s scissors and screwy mind. Jaime had to go buy another suit this morning to wear to the wedding. He is worried that Julieta’s increasingly erratic and violent behavior is not just due to OCD. Julieta is slowly losing her marbles. He’ll have to talk to her psychiatrist first thing Monday morning. You mean the genius medical mind that diagnosed Julieta with OCD in one session, prescribed her a box of pills and told her to come back in a month? That prodigy? Jaime apologizes to Adrián for burdening him with this on his wedding day. This is Jaime’s problem to resolve. Adrián understands that these past years cohabiting with Julieta have been very difficult for Jaime.
At Casa Murat, Nuria is rejoicing the fact that Julieta will sabotage Paulina’s wedding. However, she is curious to see how things will go down. She decides to head to the wedding venue to spy and treat herself to a fun spectacle. A sudden onset of vomiting reminds her that she has more urgent business to attend.
Inés informs her husband that she’ll take out the diamond earrings from the safe to offer them to her daughter on her wedding day. Gonzalo announces that he’ll do it himself because he has decided to attend Paulina’s wedding, even though he still disagrees with her decision to marry that nasty character (tipejo). Inés thanks her husband profusely. He would like Inés to go back to being how she was before. She agrees since he is making an effort. She must go ahead with Micaela, Chelo and Beto. Gonzalo can join them when he is ready.
Nuria googles her symptoms in a book. She seems to have found her answer in the chapter titled: “Skanks Who Sleep With Random Strangers And Don’t Use Protection.” She doesn’t like what she has just read and she is in total denial.
Julieta and Odette are back from their sabotaging mission. Julieta wonders whether the plan would work. Odette is sure that the maneuver she devised is going to have the desired result. Adrián told her that Paulina is very noble and protective of her family. Julieta hopes everything works out as expected. If it weren’t for Odette and Nuria, she would’ve never learnt what Adrián and Paulina were up to. Odette asks who Nuria is. She’s Pau’s sister but she will never be Julieta’s friend. Odette, on the other hand, is someone Julieta considers a friend. “Of course, I’m your friend! Always remember this!” exclaims Odette. Ha-ha! Wait till she makes a leather coat out of your beautiful flawless skin. I hear she’s good with scissors and abrasive substances. “Yes! My only friend!” confirms Julieta. Odette tells her it’s best that she doesn’t show Adrián those documents. Julieta insists that her brother must know the truth about Gonzalo Murat. Odette fears that, upon finding out, he decides to go see Paulina. That won’t happen because Julieta vows to make Adrián hate the Murats as much as she does.
Leonel is at home. Ariel, his friend, work colleague and possibly roommate, comes back from a workout session and advises Leonel to sleep less and exercise more. Leonel says that Saturdays are for sleeping in during the day and causing mischief (hacer travesuras) at night. As regards exercise, his courtship of Nuria is currently his favorite sport. Leo confides to Ariel how he discovered that Nuria was pursuing her sister’s boyfriend but the guy rejected her. Leo is not interested in Nuria, he is interested in what he could get through her: “Money, money, money!” Always sunny in a rich man’s world! Leo says he has figured Nuria out: She pretends she has men queuing around the block, dying for the privilege to court her. Leo is playing her game. Nuria is his ticket to become part of the Murat family. Leonel aspires to be the owner of the Murat consortium one day, and if that means making Nuria feel that she is the most important woman in the world and that she is way better than her sister, then so be it. Leonel admits that Paulina is way hotter than Nuria but he can’t hit on her (tirar la onda) because she is taken.
Nuria’s home pregnancy test confirms her worst fears. She is pregnant! She tells the baby that it can’t be born. No way! She’ll have to get rid of it as soon as possible! She doesn’t even know who is that guy she slept with in Playa Linda. Well, we know he’s a smooth operator because he got free alcohol, free nookie, free hotel room, free designer bag, free money AND free jewelry! That’s some smart genes to pass on to the baby!
Karen is supervising the last preparations at the Luna Roja restaurant. Inés and Co. arrive. Karen learns that Gonzalo has accepted to attend his daughter’s wedding. Inés would like to share the happy news with her daughter but Paulina is not back yet from the hair salon. Inés thinks she’s taking too long, it’s only a hairdo. Mica and Beto offer to go look for her and drive her to Luna Roja. Adrián arrives in company of Jaime. He gets a wee bit worried when he’s told that Pau is not there. Jaime reassures him that she will be here any minute now. A woman in a hair salon on her wedding day is bound to take her time.

Around the corner from Luna Roja, Gonzalo bumps into Mónica, Elisa and the kids. Alan jumps into his arms. When did Daddy Dearest come back from his trip? Is he going to a party like they are? They’re going to the wedding of their friends Paulina and Adrián. They’re the ones who saved René’s life. Their pal Mauricio, the little deaf boy is going to be there as well! A million alarm bells go off in Gonzalo’s head. He forbids them to go to that party! He is visibly agitated and Mónica is surprised at his over-the-top reaction. Why is he so adamant that they can’t go to that wedding? Doesn’t the name Paulina ring a bell? No? Think about it for a minute! Aaah! Mónica gets the hint. The kids start protesting. Gonzalo harshly orders them to obey him. They are too young to go to a wedding. Here’s some money! Go to the shopping mall and buy whatever you want! “You are a bad man!” says René. Raquel spots the picture perfect family from afar. Mónica consoles her children and tells them they should go. After they walk away, Elisa gives Gonzalo the stinkeye: “One day, your little farce will be discovered and your kids will hate you as much as I do!” “I would love to throw you to the crocodiles, Señora!” he mumbles. Elisa leaves and Gonzalo thinks out loud: “I can’t believe my children know one another! They can’t see each other again!”
Raquel tells Inés and Adrián that when she went to the hair salon earlier, she bumped into Paulina who was on her way out. And that was a good while ago. Adrián is consumed by worry. He asks Jaime to verify that Julieta is at home. Odette answers the phone and tells Jaime that she and Julieta have just gotten home from the doctor’s. Jaime explains that Paulina is a no-show. Odette assures him that Julieta hasn’t left her sight at all. Julieta learns what happened and jubilates.
Nuria phones a certain Tanya to ask about an abortion clinic for a “friend” of hers who is in trouble.
Gonzalo makes it to the wedding venue. Raquel is glad he allowed himself to be persuaded (dar el brazo a torcer). He replies that only a fool doesn’t change his mind (es de sabios cambiar de opinión). Raquel wonders whether that’s the real reason behind his change of heart. Or perhaps it’s remorse, she teases. In any case, congratulations! She flutters away with a cheeky grin, leaving a confused Gonzalo behind. Adrián thanks The Gonz for coming but the latter turns his nose up at him: “I’m not doing it for you!” The judge arrives. Mica and Beto are right on his heels. They report that Paulina is nowhere to be found. They even searched the streets that lead from the hair salon to Luna Roja, but to no avail. Paulina finally shows up, with Camilo in tow. “You had us worried sick (con el Jesús en la boca)!” exclaims Inés. Adrián asks Pau to get dressed quickly. She says she won’t because she can’t marry him. She holds Camilo’s hand and announces that she is not going to marry Adrián. He was right, she has feelings for Camilo and she can’t marry Adrián feeling how she feels. Shocked faces all around. Adrián pulls her aside. He wants to know what’s going on. For several months, Paulina swore and forswore that she loves him and that she feels nothing for Camilo. Pau assures him that she has feelings for Camilo and it’s something she can’t control. Adrián is getting desperate: They were happy! Just yesterday they were ecstatic and excited to get married. What happened between yesterday and today? Pau says she has doubts that prevent her from getting married. And she’s telling him this now? Now that they’re about to get married? In front of everyone? Why? She says she’s doing it because she is a coward, but she can’t keep fooling him or herself. “I don’t love you enough to be your wife!” “And since when have you been having these doubts? What did this idiot do to you?” “He didn’t do anything to me! It’s a decision that I took all by myself!” “Accept that it’s all over!” interjects Camilo. “Shut up! SHUT UP!” yells Adrián before gently holding Pau’s face in his hands and pleading with her: “My love, Pau, tell me! Tell me what’s going on! Please! You can tell me. You can trust me. Tell me what’s happening, my love!” “I don’t love you anymore. Forgive me for this, for what I’m doing to you right now.”
At the shopping mall, René is still incensed about missing Pau’s wedding. He reproaches his mother for always doing what their dad orders. She asks him to let it go and buy something with the money his dad gave him. René doesn’t want his dad’s money, he wants to go back to the party. Mónica says that’s impossible. He stomps away in a huff. Elisa asks Alan to accompany his brother to the bathroom. After the boys leave, Mónica enquires whether her mother knew that Paulina is Gonzalo’s daughter. Yep, she found out after they were invited to the wedding. How dare she expose Mónica’s sons to the possibility of discovering the truth? Why is she so cruel? Elisa corrects her daughter: The cruel one here is Gonzalo. Paulina confided to Elisa that her parents have an exemplary marriage and that they’re about to adopt a little child. If Gonzalo’s marriage was truly on the rocks as he claims, he and his wife wouldn’t be thinking about adoption. Elisa wanted Mónica to attend the wedding so that the scales fall from her eyes (caérsele a alguien la venda de los ojos) and she finally stops being so blind. The Gonz has been playing her for a fool and she must face this harsh reality. Mónica cries and fumes.
Back at Luna Roja, Adrián can’t believe what he is hearing. “Jaime, please tell me this isn’t happening!” Camilo jumps in again with a smart-alecky remark: “The wedding is cancelled, Adrián, you have nothing to do here!” Adrián responds with a punch that Camilo reciprocates. A brawl breaks out but guests intervene to separate the rivals. Adrián turns to Paulina: “I don’t know why you are doing this. I don’t understand. The only thing I know is that nobody, NOBODY, not Camilo, not anyone, for the rest of your life, will ever love you like I do!” These parting words make Paulina break into sobs. Inés can’t believe what just happened. Surely, what Pau told Adrián isn’t true. Gonzalo believes that Pau knows what she is doing. He and Inés should be grateful that their daughter came to her senses and canceled the wedding. Outside, Adrián is dazed and confused. He can’t process what just happened. He knew that Camilo was pining for Pau but... Police officers interrupt them. They have a warrant for Adrián’s arrest. He is accused of drug trafficking. Fan-friggin-tastic! This is the cherry on top of a phenomenal day!
Inside, Raquel puts ice on her son’s face and probes him for an explanation but he stays mum. Karen berates Paulina for playing with the feelings of all those who love her. Gonzalo tells his daughter it’s time for them to leave. After all, she didn’t marry that dude. Pau looks at her father with barely suppressed rancor. Chelo runs in panicked and announces that the police is outside and they are taking Adrián away! Everyone rushes to see what’s going on. Gonzalo stays behind. He says to himself that, for once, something worked well for Silvestre. Unfortunately, in this instance, it turned out to be superfluous. “¡Ay, Silvestre!”
Paulina tries to stop the policemen from taking Adrián. They tell her that he is a drug dealer. She vehemently defends him and orders them to let him go. Jaime and Camilo try to calm her down. She asks Camilo to contact his dad since Adrián is going to need a lawyer. She tells her parents that she is going to the Ministerio Público/ Public Prosecutor’s Office with Adrián because she cares about him, even though she declined to marry him. Gonzalo disagrees. He’ll ask someone to keep her posted about Adrián’s situation. However, accompanying him to the Ministerio Público is not right. She thanks her dad but he is the last person to talk about what’s right and what’s not. “Why are you talking to me like this? In the end, I came to your wedding to support you. I did the right thing!”
Mónica, Elisa and the kids get home. Mónica is in tears and she heads straight to her room. René asks why his dad didn’t come to see them if he is in Puerto Esperanza. He prefers to go to a party instead of coming to see his children? René adds that he doesn’t want to see his father anymore! They are better off without him! Little Alan disagrees. He would like to continue seeing his dad. Elisa tells the children to put on their swimsuits and go play in the pool.
In her room, Mónica is talking to herself. She laments her naïveté for believing in Gonzalo. He has been playing with her all these years. For him, she was always the eternal mistress, the one who must live in the shadows and stay hidden from the legitimate spouse. René is by the door and he overhears his mother’s monologue. He sheds tears of bitter disappointment and softly utters: “I hate you, Dad!”
Jaime phones Odette and informs her of what happened at the wedding. He tells her to break the news gently to Julieta or else she’ll react like she did with his suit. Julieta learns what happened to her darling little corazón and, naturally, she has a major freak-out. She grabs her handbag and heads out to the Ministerio Público. Oooh, that’ll be a sight to behold!
Karen tells Jaime that she is very disappointed in Paulina. She didn’t just cheat Adrián, but Karen as well. She doesn’t give Jaime further details. After Jaime leaves, she starts crying. Flavio consoles her with a hug.
Everybody leaves. Inés tells Gonzo that she never imagined the day would end like this. “Neither did I, darling. Neither did I.” replies The Gonz.
At the Ministerio Público, Adrián ardently proclaims his innocence. He is convinced that this is all a big mistake! He is informed that an old student of his, a so-called Carmen Mendoza, accused him of being a drug dealer. Adrián insists he has never taught someone by that name. Maybe he’ll recognize her later as the procedure progresses. Procedure? Yep, Adrián will be imprisoned during the submission of evidence (el desahogo de pruebas). Adrián protests that this is illegal. They can’t jail him just because someone emerged from Lord-knows-where and accused him of dealing drugs. Actually, upon receiving the complaint, the police searched (catear) his hotel room and found a packet of drugs in his luggage. Adrián is shocked and outraged: That’s impossible! Someone planted (sembrar) those drugs there! He is innocent! Well, sonny, they all say the same. Does he have a lawyer and does he need them to assign him one? He has a lawyer who’s on his way. Adrián is taken to a cell (los separos) until his lawyer arrives. The poor guy cries as he replays Paulina’s breakup words in his head.
Alfonso makes it to the Ministerio Público and gets briefed on Adrián’s legal situation. He gives Pau and Camilo the 411. Pau asks to see Adrián and is granted permission to do so. Silvestre is lurking right by the reception desk. Camilo spots him and they acknowledge each other with a nod. Camilo doesn’t know Silvestre but he is bound to see him again with Gonzalo or in one of the Murat hotels, then he’ll definitely be able to connect the dots.
Paulina visits Adrián in his cell, but before she could talk, he asks her to leave. Can’t she see that her presence hurts him? What does she want? She says she would like to help him. He declines. He wants her to get the heck out of here. His sister Julieta was right. All the Murats do is hurt others! Scram! Adrián doesn’t want to see Paulina ever again! He can’t stand being near her! He screams at her to “Get out!” at the top of his lungs. Her eyes fill with tears. His eyes fill with hate and resentment.

Your viewing vocabulario
(these definitions are context-specific, unless otherwise indicated)
caer en (la) desgracia = to fall from grace.
traer de cabeza a alguien = to drive someone crazy, to consume someone’s thoughts. It could be used to connote something good or bad. For example, I could say that organizing a party, (or making a new friend, or a money problem, or an upcoming trip) “me trae de cabeza/ drives me nuts (or consume my thoughts)”.
Simona la mona = Literally translates as “Simona the monkey”. Sometimes, in naco/ naff Mexican slang, “Simón” is used as a substitute for “Sí”. “Simona la mona” is taking the naffness one step further.
tipejo = a rascal, a nasty character, a jerk.
hacer travesuras = to cause mischief, to be naughty.
tirar la onda a alguien = “To pull someone’s vibe”, i.e. to flirt with or hit on someone.
dar el brazo a torcer = Lit. “To give one’s arm to be twisted”, i.e. to allow oneself to be persuaded, to be talked into something.
es de sabios cambiar de opinión = Lit. “It is characteristic of the wise to change their minds”. This expression is the Spanish equivalent of: Only a fool never changes his mind.
con el Jesús en la boca = Lit. “With the Jesus in the mouth”, i.e. worried sick, in a state of anxiety that has one invoking Jesus constantly.
caérsele a alguien la venda de los ojos = Lit. “the bandage falls from someone’s eyes”, i.e. the scales fall from someone’s eyes. They stop being blind and face the bitter truth. Example: “Se me cayó la venda de los ojos/ The scales fell from my eyes”.
el desahogo de pruebas = the time period where the submission of evidence takes place during a legal process.
catear = to search a place, location, residence, office, etc. It’s police lingo in Mexican Spanish.
sembrar = to plant (both in the literal and figurative senses).
los separos = Mexican Spanish for the cells of a police station.

What an episode! Did not expect things to turn out this way! I figured the "punishment" Gonzlo was devising with his goon was an old-fashioned beating or something. The show is getting better and better everyday. The writers took their time to set all th foundations in place and now the different plotlines are flying in every which direction to the viewers' delight! I look forward to many things in the coming episodes but I'm particularly excited to see Julieta at the Ministerio Público! Her antics alone would keep me entertained for a whole episode! :D

Thank you for your recap, Nandicta! I was watching this episode with my mom and our mouths were agape regarding everything that was happening!
I don't know if it's been discussed before but telenovela writers sometimes forget that they can use cliches but HOW is they use them is more important than the cliche itself.
AQNMD and ECDLP are currently the only two who are utilizing cliches like magicians, put the viewers attention somewhere else and then pull the rug from under them. Paulina has been threatened before but she hasn't broken up with Adrian, except now she did, which was a complete surprise. In turn, I thought Gonzalo was going for a beating also or an assassination attempt but he did once even worse, drug trafficking.
Even more interesting is Nuria's pregnancy. That was completely unexpected and after all she has done to gain daddy's favor even better.
Adrian's eye in the cell were so scary, his disappointment (possible hate) for Paulina will be interesting to see in the upcoming weeks.

So Nuria has gotten some payback already for what she has dished out to Paulina and poor little Mauricio. She must have been knocked up by the one who stole her purse and left her in the hotel. I can't wait to see what Gonzalo will do when he finds this out. That is the guy he would put a hit out on.
I also thought that Adrian would get beaten to within an inch of his life or -- at the very least -- a broken bone or two to land him in hospital for a week or so. This is so much worse because it will take a long time to resolve. The next cliche would be a fifteen-year time jump and Adrian getting out of prison to get revenge, but I don't think they're going there.

She could have taken him inside, told him what was going on, and insist they put off the wedding and pretend to breakup, until they could talk through what to do about Juli's threats. I get her loyalty to family, but frankly, if her father committed the crime, he deserves to do the time.
Let's at least hope that crazy Juli realizes she can use her info as leverage to make Gonzo get Adrian released from prison.

I'm really disappointed that Gonzo escaped exposure again. Elisa gave it a good try though. Rene's hate for Gonzo is permanently cemented now, and it looks like Monica has finally woken up to reality.

I am not really invested in this couple but I am hating Paulina right now for how she went about ending things. That was just cruel! She deserves whatever kind of anger she gets from Adrian in the coming weeks.
Like Vivi, I hope that Paulina and Karen can at least work it out right now. The idiot is going to need a friend besides Camilo! But honestly if I were her I would have let Gonzalo rot as I trotted off on my honeymoon...
Speaking of Gonzalo, he got off very lucky! If he hadn't run into his second family, Paulina and Adrian's very public breakup might not have been the focus of the non-wedding. Rene is a wild card and I am excited to see what he does in the future. Grandma knows she's got him in the bag now!

Meeks, speaking of Leonel, I wasn't buying the gay storyline until they showed him living with the guy. Immediately I started wondering if maybe Nuria was on to something, despite what Leonel said. It seemed to coincidental that Nuria thinks he's gay and then a male roommate is introduced. Guess we'll have to wait and see.
I am so disappointed in Paulina and Karen. I thought their friendship was a lot stronger than that but, then again, Karen did ask Paulina if it was okay to pursue and then, very publicly, declared her love for him. Ahhh when will these protagonistas take someone aside and drop the drama bombs instead of doing it in public.

Yes, Superalfie, I was waiting for the two of them to express some type of intimacy but it didn't happen...I can definitely say that I am enjoying the mystery surrounding this guy.

Superalfie, I completely agree with you on this: "AQNMD and ECDLP are currently the only two who are utilizing cliches like magicians, put the viewers attention somewhere else and then pull the rug from under them." Just a few days ago, we were discussing this over on the ECDLP Patio. I think that both AQNMD and ECDLP are prime examples of a classic formulaic telenovela executed to perfection and eager to surprise the viewer at every turn.
Adrián's cold hard stare in the last scene was indeed terrifying! All the love was replaced by resentment.
Urban, I agree that getting knocked up by a creepy stranger who stole her handbag and took off is a well-deserved mini-anvil for Nuria but it's a ginormous anvil for a poor innocent baby who did nothing to deserve having such despicable parents. I don't think The Gonz would be too thrilled to hear that his first grandchild will be born out of wedlock. Leonel, on the other hand, could get a golden opportunity to join the Murat family thanks to this auspicious pregnancy.
"Elisa scores no points with me for being a metiche, but she is right." True. Other than her tendency to manipulate her grandchildren, the woman is always spot-on!
Vivi, "She (Paulina) could have taken him inside, told him what was going on, and insist they put off the wedding and pretend to breakup, until they could talk through what to do about Juli's threats." That's exactly what I thought when I was watching! All that time Pau spent chit-chatting on the beach with Camilo should've been put to good use talking with her fiancé, i.e. the guy who was actually concerned by Julieta's threat. Paulina and Adrián could've discussed things in private and decided TOGETHER what would be the best course of action. I like Paulina but she dropped the ball big time on this one.
Meeks, I wasn't very invested in the Paulina-Adrián either but after this, I'm all eyes and ears!
Personally, I don't think Leonel is gay. He's just a dandy who takes pride in his physical appearance and doesn't like people messing up his shirt collars! We got confirmation in this episode: He is not attracted to Nuria but he has the hots for Paulina! He told his roommate he would gladly hit on the little sis but, unfortunately, she is taken and he must make do with Nuria. He doesn't like Nuria but he likes what she could get him: Heaps of money and a privileged spot in the Murat hotel empire!
