Tres Veces Ana # 109

Discussion page for all of you, patio pals, while our very own Ms. Cynthia Hampton (who has very graciously offered to recap for us this episode while I am out of town) prepares a recap! Thanks, Cynthia!

Cynthia's fantastic and entertaining recap posted below:

We open with the scene from yesterday where Viri and Mariano are together and she is telling him that she is not the woman for him and this was a mistake. As she leaves his home, she stops in the doorway, Viri tells herself she should never have let herself fall in love. Meanwhile Mariano says to himself he will never forgive her for this.

Javi is at Inaki’s place showing him the video that Oily gave him that shows that Inaki and Ana Le are getting rid of a body. Javi says, “What did you do? How could you just kill someone and then throw them out like trash?” Inaki says it’s not really like that. It was really self-defense, he was just protecting Ana Le, who is the niece of his boss and he hit this man a little too hard on the counter. He didn’t really mean to kill him. Javi wants to know why he didn’t call the police. Inaki explains that he didn’t think the police would believe him. Javi tells Inaki that Oily now wants a LOT OF MONEY to keep this quiet. Boy Inaki is way over his head this time. What the heck is he going to do to get out of this one?

We see Marcelo and Rodrigo together in Rod’s place (somehow, Marcelo just let himself in) talking about the contents of the folders Marcelo found at the safe deposit box. There is a flashback to years ago when Ana Le met Marcelo at his office with Abuela regarding the case to investigate where Ana Lucia is. Ana Le says they must hurry because Jennifer wants to get going. Marcelo remarks that Jennifer is his cousin. (Now I’m not sure if this was revealed before this, but it was a surprise to me.) Marcelo tells Ana Le that he has a dinner planned with her Tio and Jennifer and would she like to accompany him? She turns him down. Marcelo asks for her phone number to which Ana Le says, “Well you’re a detective, why don’t you use your detective skills and find out for yourself?” After Abue and Ana Le leave, Rodrigo appears…He explains that he cannot take this case because of his prior relationship with Ernestina long ago. He also says that Marcelo and Ana Le are made for each other.
Rodrigo explains about his love for Ernestina but Marcelo does not want to hear about these sentiments. Rod explains to Marcelo how the truths from that paperwork will expose so many things, even Facundo, his own father.

Next morning, Rod appears at Santiago’s door and Rod explains that he’s in Rod’s hotel because he doesn’t remember where he is or how he got there since last time they spoke, he was in his Marcelo personality. They will talk again after breakfast. Then a lightbulb flashes and he realizes that his wife, Ana MeMe is the one who ordered his death!

Rodrigo is seated at a table outside having his morning coffee when Miranda shows up. He tells her of what happened last night with his date not showing up. He felt so ridiculous with all those flowers and is very angry what his lady texting buddy never did show up. How could she? Then Miranda reveals the identity of his lady texting buddy, it’s ERNESTINA and the reason she didn’t show up was because she fell and fainted and right now feeling very delicate. Now Rodrigo is angry with Miranda because she knew all along that his lady texting buddy was Ernestina. He asks her to please not tell Ernestina that he is her real texting buddy. Miranda leaves and Santiago comes over.

Rod starts explaining the whole story to Santiago, who can’t remember much. But Rod says he will help him remember piece by piece. Facundo explained his personality problem to Rod, so he understands somewhat. He asks Santi what he remembers about Remedios’ husband, Alfredo. The thing was, Alfredo wanted to protect Marcelo. Rod has a flashback to Ernestina’s wedding and he wants to come stop the wedding because he says it’s not true that Margarita is pregnant with his child. It’s nothing but a lie. Evilristo and his thugs are outside stopping him from ruining the wedding. Evil has his thugs beat up Rodrigo….

It seems that Marcelo really wasn’t that bad of a guy. He once worked for the federal police of Mexico and when he opened his own detective agency he often helped the local police solve cases. Alfredo cared for Marcelo and was grateful to him for helping him leave this bad organization and wanted nothing more to do with it.
Leonor tells Ernestina that she went to the restaurant to let her “date” know that she was sick. But at the last minute she decided not to approach him because he seemed upset. (I take it Leonor didn’t know that texting buddy was Rodrigo). She says that Ernie should send this man a text letting him know that she was too sick to come out. Ernie said, no she doesn’t want her texting boyfriend to think she is a sick old lady who is bedridden. She can’t have him think that of her, that would be the worst!

Ana MeMe goes to Tio’s the next morning and (thank God she changed that dress!) She tells him that Leonor and Abue are sisters. Ana MeMe is just beside herself. Tio says, “Well, maybe you misheard”. No says Ana MeMe, Abuela said that Leonor was the daughter of her father. Ana Le is crying about how horrible this is, to have a MAID in the family! Tio says, “It’s not so bad, so Leonor still is part of the family.” Seems Tio is just alright with that. Ana MeMe wants to know why Tio is drinking so early. Tio explains that it’s over with Viri and he’s just feeling bad about it. So Ana MeMe tells him that they can face their problems together, after all she has the same problems with Marcelo. (Of course Ana MeMe is slithering up to him massaging his shoulder…puke). But Tio tells her that he loves her with all his heart. Ana MeMe says, “Really you love me?” And Tio says, “Like a baby in my arms, just like you are my daughter!” This is NOT what Ana MeMe wanted to hear. He needs to tell to get her hands off of him.

At the jail, Ana Lu comes to visit Soledad. They exchange “how are you” and other niceties and Soledad asks about Abue and how she is doing. Then they sit down together and Ana Lu tells Solebad that she read her letter and now understands. Sole wants forgiveness, but Ana Lu tells her in no uncertain words that Solebad used her for a SUBSTITUTE and REPLACEMENT for Sophia! The same thing that happened with Santiago, he was just confused and used her as his substitute for her sister. And no, she doesn’t consider Solebad her mother any longer as her life was stolen from her. Solebad tries to explain that she really does and always did love her and considered her a gift from God. After Sophia had died, one day she heard Ana Lu’s cries for help in the river and she rushed to the rescue. Ana Lu says that she was just a sub for Sophia, but Solebad retorts that although she saved her life from drowning in the river, it was in truth that Ana Lu save Soledad’s life because she gave her a reason to live. Solebad says, “You’re my daughter forever!” She lived with the fear that she would be found out and sent to jail. Ana Lu then tells her that she just thought of herself, that’s all. Ana Lu just feels so used by both Solebad and Santiago. She reiterates that she is NOT Solebad’s daughter and will never forgive her for what she has done. Ana Lu explains her life feels in shambles, her “mother” is in jail and her lover is really her brother in law. Solebad pleads to not hate her and Sole can’t live with her hatred. Ana Lu says she has to live with those consequences.

Back in the jail cell, Solebad reveals to Valeria who she is and that all this time she had Ana Lucia. Of course Valeria is very shocked. Sole says to Valeria, “So you know them the Alvarez de Castillo family?”

Viri shows up at her boutique very early and Cecelia wants to know why she is there so early. She confides in Cecelia about being in love with Mariano and is trying to get over it. She is feeling hurt all over how she feels so horrible about being in that relationship.

Later, Ana Lu sees Nerina at the Pension. Nerina believes that the best thing to do is to forgive Solebad. Nerina says she has to admit that all this time Sole did give Ana Lu a lot of love. She shouldn’t be in jail. Ana Lu finally says she will ask Tio Mariano to release Solebad from jail. It will be an “or else” type of demand because Ana Lu says that unless Tio consents to have Solebad released, Ana Lu is NOT coming to join the family and that is all there is to it!

At the Pension, who shows up but Viridiana and Cecelia. They find Ana Lu practicing her acrobatic dancing and Viri asks if they can speak with her. Ana Lu, thanks Viri for the dress she gave her after their introductions. When Viri refers to Sole as her mother, Ana Lu says she no longer calls Sole her mother anymore because Sole is not her mother. Anyway, Ana Lu says she still needs to shower and get to another commitment. But Viri says it won’t take long to talk about what they need to say.

As Ana Laura just has arrived in town, she gets a call from Tin-Tin as she is waiting in the car for Ramiro, who wanted to stop by and have a word with his father. He tells her that it’s very important that he see her and that he has something very important to tell her. Ana Laura says her grandmother is sick, that this will have to wait because Grandma is more important. Tin-Tin says, well I think you’ll find this just as important, “here let me send you a picture.” Tin-Tin snaps a picture of Ana Lucia speaking with Nerina and sends it to Ana Laura!

The last scene is Ratmundo at home going through a case of…..LOTS OF MONEY, MONEY, MONEY! Ramiro walks in and catches him will all that money and wants to know where the heck it all came from!!! Ramiro accuses him of skimming off all his clients or doing something illegal. Then Ramiro calls him a thief and figures out, “why it was you who stole the foundation’s monies!” They end up in an argument. Ratmundo says he was a good father and he owes Ramiro no explanations. He sent him college and gave him a good life. Ram says, that’s what a father is supposed to do. Ratmundo pulls out a gun and says he doesn’t want to go to jail and he won’t go to jail! It looks like Ratmundo is going to shoot his own son there for a minute, but then he turns the gun on himself and shoots himself on the side of his head. So it’s finally curtains for Ratmundo. Ratmundo esta muerto! (dead). (Is that like Ding dong, the witch is dead?)

Holy Cow! Even though I don't understand very much Spanish, I understood enough to know there were many revelations in this episode. Looking forward to the recap and discussion.

Ratmundo taking his own life was a big surprise. I didn't think he had it in him. This will solve Val's dilemma-and, hopefully, shock AnaLaura into believing in Ram. Of course, now we have Tin Tin stirring up another problem between Ana and Ram by showing her the picture of AnaLU.

Can't wait to hear what SantMark was learning from Rodrigo...

Working on recap now. Virginia, you must be on Eastern time. I just watched Univision East from 6-7 my time. Will have recap ready about 10:00 p.m. Pacific time. Don't want to ruin anything for anyone.

Holy Shitzoli. Sorry, no other phrase quite works. One down. Raticide was a bit anticlimatic. At least Ramiro recovered (hopefully the foundation cash and figured out the Rat before said Rat tried out for the Darwin awards.. I thought right up until he pulled the trigger that Rat was going to tell Ram he was not really his Dad then whack him. Like the little Direct Auto Insurance guy always says, "Now that's a pleasant surprise."

It also was a relief to see that for the time being, Rod is a good guy. Wowzers, did we get an earful from him tonight. The Mexican Mafia heh? Yikes. I can't wait to see your recap when it shows up, as I was just treading water with Rod's history lesson.

Did you say earful, kirbo? Makes you think of SoeBad whose ears were bleeding after her chat with her "Daughter". I really like little AnaLucia, and feel so bad for her. When she compared SoleDad's substitute Luuurve for her with the same situation with Santiago the poor thing looked so forlorn.

There are so many plots and subterfuge and sub stories going on in parallel it is hard to keep all this sorted out without taking notes. So according to Rod's recounting of his crashing Erni's wedding, Evaristo was in on the bullshit blaming him for Margarita's pregnancy. Evaristo it appears, knew all along that his boss(I guess) rather than Rod was responsible for Marg's preggers.

I had wondered aloud (here) today what Java would do if he got the video of Inak and AnaNak kicking Isid to the curb. Confront the brother was not one of my plausible scenarios, but I do not talk directly with the TN Gods, my info is third hand. :-) Now Inak has to ask Anak for the cash to give Pennzoil as I suspect the Isidcash is still in her Microcar. She was on cloud nine when she was having her little "INTIMATE" wink wink, talk with Tio as he was having a Johnny Walker on the rocks for breakfasst. Sheezus girl put yore drawers back on, he still don't get it, and neither will you.

Cynthia, Thank you so much for volunteering to do this. I didn't mean to rush you, I'm just so wrapped up in this TN.

My granddaughter told me she walked in on her daughters (ages 4 and 6) a few days ago and they were quietly watching "Great-Grandma's program" in Spanish-They don't speak Spanish!

Virginia, me too, FloriDuh. This show is like one of those jigsaw puzzles you see which cover a whole sheet of plywood, and we still have a handful of pieces.

I enjoyed seeing AnaLuc tell SoeRotten E X A C T L Y what all of us have been saying for so long.

The wheels are beginning to fall off for Inaki. Ghoul no longer has any money, Pennzoil appears to be asking for a LOT of money, and AnaLet.me.have.that.money took all the proceeds of the Isid murder with her, I believe. Inaki lied to Java and told him he saved AnaLet from a rape and killed the fellow by accident in self defense.

Just finished this episode and I did not see Ratmundo's suicide coming. When he pulled the gun from the drawer I thought he was going to kill Ramiro. I'm very surprised he didn't even try; his contempt for Ramiro oozed out of every pore during all their preceding scenes together.

At least Ramiro has recovered the money stolen from the foundation. Now they will need forensic accountants to find everything Ratmundo stole from other people, including Nerina. The only problem now is that the Mexican Injustice System might take its own sweet time releasing Valeria because without Ratmundo being alive to confess his actions how will this be proven? Maybe with forensic IT personnel?

I was wondering what happened to Isidro's money. Inaki must have been completely nuts to not insist that they split it 50/50 on the spot.

No. In a previous episode it was quite clear that he didn't find out until Margarita confessed, just before she died.

OK. Thanks Miguel. I DO remember that now, but last night I somehow wanted to think he knew, at the wedding.

Without Ev's knowing participation, exactly what ax did Rod have to grind with Evaristo? Just getting your ass whipped when you are trying to crash an affluent family's only daughter's wedding doesn't give you reason to spend a lifetime getting even. That butt kicking is a given, Buddy.

Gracias, Cynthia.

It was revealed a long time ago that Jennifer was Marcelo's cousin, but I don't think it was mentioned more than once or twice.

Leave it to Ratmundo to call himself a good father when he apparently hated Ramiro his entire life. But this is the way of toxic parents who do nothing but criticize or otherwise mentally abuse their children.

All during the scene where Ana MeMeME was coming on to Mariano I was watching him closely and wondering whether he is still clueless or whether he was looking for what Viridiana was talking about. I haven't quite decided what happened. Here's hoping he gets sufficiently smashed to think about his last evening with Viri and FB's to this scene... and a boatload of others.

Alfredo was therefore a capo or hitman in a criminal organization and he reported to Evaristo. I hope nobody tells Remedios because it will break her heart. She would probably give up any money she has from him because it's tainted. I wonder whether Ramiro will conclude that none of his father's money was honestly earned (sorry; I know I've said that before).

How the hell did Facundo feel when Marcelo originally became a Federale? How did he not think that he would ultimately find out what was really going on?

More later.

Yes, that is like "Ding dong, the witch is dead . . ." Thank you, Cynthia for your excellent recap! I also cringe anytime Ana Leticia "manhandles" tío Mariano. At this point though I think the writer's are having a good laugh knowing the response they get from the viewers.

I was so happy when Edmundo turned the gun on himself. One less creep to deal with.

My interest was piqued with the mention of the supposedly criminal "organization" Alfredo and others were involved in. We definitely need more info on that. ( I am currently watching the excellent "Making of the Mob:Chicago") Any overcoats and machine guns involved? Evaristo definitely had the "look".

So, Ana Lucía will not be a pushover in relation to her own family: forcing tío Mariano's hand with getting Soledad released. This is a good sign as she enters that viper's nest of a family.

It was also nice to find out that Marcelo was a federal agent at one time.

Santiago/Marcelo needs to get that surgery already and get his two halves integrated. Many of the answers he seeks are probably sitting right there in his own head. LOL

Good morning Cynthia.

Fresh, exciting and extremely well written. I loved the "tone" you set and you laid everything out so clearly, in all its pain and glory. Excellent!

"They exchange “how are you” and other niceties" and "Ratmundo esta muerto! (dead). (Is that like Ding dong, the witch is dead?)" were among my many favorites.

I'm sure that most of us will agree with you that it was a few very terse moments when Ramiro caught his father red handed. I kept thinking, if he shoots him, Ramiro will die. He is at very close range. As my mind was spinning, panicking for Ramiro, the gun fired and my jaw dropped at what I saw as (agreeing with you) that he is such a liar and coward, that was the very last thing I expected. Urban, your "I'm very surprised he didn't even try; his contempt for Ramiro oozed out of every pore during all their preceding scenes together"" said it all.

So now Tin has gone and revealed to Ana Laura that Ana Lucia is alive. Now not only must Ramiro try and deal with his father's suicide, another wedge between he and Ana Laura will be formed as he did not tell her what he has known lo these many months.

So rather than trying to blackmail Ana Let which would have given him the funds to blow town, Orlando chooses to send the incriminating pictures to Javier. The scene between the brothers was too painful for words. Javier realizing his brother is a murderer and trying to process that fact was gut churning. And Inaki realizing he and Ana had been "discovered" and trying to convince his brother of his innocence was tragic. Frantically trying to embrace his brother in a bear hug that was not reciprocated hurt the heart.

Ana Lucia is honest and insightful. She (unfortunately) was correct in her assertion that she was indeed a substitute for Soledad and Santiago. In fairness, her aura of familiarity is what drew Santiago to her (like a moth to a flame), but he honestly does love her and when he realized the truth, did try to breakup with her. Soledad had far more selfish motives. That said, she did and does love Ana Lucia. Of course that does not atone for her actions. I think that while Ana Lucia may not truly be able to forgive her, her huge heart is clearly in evidence as she will try and have Soledad released from prison.

So, Mariano is drowning his sorrows with a morning drink. Not unexpected. Viri feeling the sharp repercussions of what she did? Also not unexpected. “She confides in Cecelia about being in love with Mariano and is trying to get over it. She is feeling hurt all over how she feels so horrible about being in that relationship”. Indeed.

I hope Ana Lu is able to see her grandmother. Hopefully, they will have much time together. How Soledad is going to be factored into the equation is a mystery to me.

Cynthia, thank you very much!

Diana

"Santiago/Marcelo needs to get that surgery already and get his two halves integrated. Many of the answers he seeks are probably sitting right there in his own head".

Excellent observation Jarifa...

Cynthia, thank you so much for your excellent recap. What would we do without you and others? Thanks again, and I might add quick too. Double Thanks.

Didn't Rodrigo mention something about two distinct crime organizations last night? I am still trying to get all this to congeal, who worked for who or what and who was whose enemy.

Cynthia- Fabulous job! Thank you for stepping in to fill-in for Ria.

Yes, we already knew Marcelo was Jenn's cousin and that he was a federal agent before he became a private investigator. What we learned was that he was still helping out the federal police and that he was on the trail of a big organized crime leader. It seems pretty obvious that the mob boss turned out to be his own father (although Rod never came right out and said it last night). Knowing his son was on his trail, Facundo hired Evaristo to work for his son to keep tabs on him and make sure he never found out the truth about Facundo. Meanwhile, it seems that Alfredo, who had previously been in the shady world of organized crime but was extracted/saved by Marcelo, had some divided loyalties. He knew Facundo's real identity and knew Ev was really working for Facundo, but also wanted to keep Marcelo ignorant of who his father really was. He either did this because Facundo and Ev threatened him, and/or because he just didn't want Marcelo to get hurt by this revelation about his father. His end goal was definitely to keep Marcelo safe, which he did until the very end.

Rodrigo said that he wasn't Ev's enemy, but Ev was his. So he's not the one who was holding a grudge. He was just watching out for everyone in Ev's orbit. We know that Ev wanted to get even with the man who knocked up Margarita, and for at least 10-12 years (when Marg confessed to him on her deathbed), Ev thought that man was Rod. So for a good decade there, starting with the beating in front of the church of Erni's wedding, Ev (and Erni's papa) probably did all they could to make Rod's life hell. That would definitely make Rod consider Ev a nemesis, even after Ev shifted his hate to Erni's papa and Erni herself after he found out the truth of who raped Margarita.

Edmundo's suicide was definitely a shock. I thought for sure he was going to shoot Ramiro. Now Ramiro has THREE suicides on his conscience-- his mom, Gina, and his dad. Let's hope Edmundo left behind some kind of confession letter where he admits to killing his wife and Gina, so that Ramiro gets some kind of closure and can drop the guilty feelings about these deaths.

Yeah, now would NOT be the time for Ana Laura to get on Ramiro's case about not telling her about Ana Lucia sooner. I will be mad at her if she does. After all, Ana Leticia and Mariano have also now known about Ana Lucia for many days and haven't bothered to tell her either. And they didn't have people begging and pleading them for more time like Ramiro did.

ViVi >>Lets hope Rat left behind some kind of confession... Maybe that information is in the famous lock box Marky Mark now has all the keys to.

Am I right that Rodrigo truly is one of the good guys, all two of them?

toa

If Ana Laura DOES get on Ramiro about not telling her, with Vin Tin Tin giving her the ammunition again, Rambo should dump her nutty ass. Hook up with Ana Lucia and teach her to limp. Viola!

toa

What an episode! Thanks Cynthia!

So does anyone else know about Evaristo's demise yet?

I wasn't expecting Edmundo to kill himself. But he was essentially trapped and had no other way out except prison. Poor Ramiro must be traumatized by all these deaths of his loved ones.

I'm at least somewhat relieved that Santiago is remembered things that happened to Marcelo. Even though he can't control the personality switch at least he has something to go off of.

I don't feel sorry for Soledad and I'm glad that Ana Lu is standing her ground. While I do think that Sole did end up loving Ana Lu in her own way, Sofia was always #1 in her heart and Ana Lu was truly just a replacement for what Sole had lost.

The thing that drove me batty last night is that both to Ana Lucia and to Valeria, Soledad harped on about how she deprived AnaLu of wealth and riches by keeping her. as if that was her real crime. No, Soledad. You deprived her of her FAMILY! (And them of her.) Not their money. She just doesn't get it.

Just as I left home for work and was commenting, good old google ate my words...literally I think.

Anyhoo...Wonderful Cynthia!!! What a night again.

I too was convinced that Rat would shoot his son, though not kill him, so was taken aback to see him shoot himself. Probably the first decent thing he ever did, but Ram still has to deal with a parent who turns out to be a fraud. Seems to be a lot of that going around.

I applauded AnaLu telling Soledad the truth, though I still doubt that woman gets what she did was plain wrong. No amount of " I love you's" and sorry's escapes the fact she flat out admitted she looked at this lost girl as some sort of gift to be taken to fill the hole in her life. And then knew full well the poor thing had a family and sisters. I get the writers may try to have some sort of peace made between AnaLu and Soledad, but hopefully it's not of the pink bow variety. And I wish everyone would shut up trying to make AnaLu be the one feeling guilty that Soledad was caught.

Inaki and Javier was indeed heartbreaking. I wonder if Inaki will turn himself in. I honestly see no way out for him, unless he pulls a Ratmundo. This is going to destroy Tadeo as well...one of the few decent parent figures we have.

Enough already with the smarming AnaLoon and Tio scenes...though the look on her face when he was "like a daughter" was priceless. That poor women really hung unto some thread that he would feel anything differently. I still want him to realize what Viri told him was the truth and how Jenny died. That just HAS to be revealed.

I guess we have to go through another Llora mad at Ram scene? Spare me.

Thanks, Cynthia. Great job. Ratmundo esta muerto! (dead). (Is that like Ding dong, the witch is dead?) Yes, indeed.

Poor Ramiro, three suicides (actually, one suicide and two murders). I have a friend with two suicides in the family (a grandparent and a sibling) and it can devastate for generations.

Enjoying Mariano’s misery. Yes, whiskey for breakfast! He made a point of telling AnaLe he loves her like a daughter, so I’m thinking some of what Viri said sunk in. Poor Viri trying to be tough but tears still escaping when Cecelia asks her what's wrong.

Kudos to AnaLu for standing up for herself. Santiago did come to love her in her own right and had reasons to not tell her he was her BIL. But Soledad could've told AnaLu early on that she had a little sister that died and shared memories of her. But she didn't because, yes, AnaLu was the replacement.

Frantically trying to embrace his brother [Javier] in a bear hug that was not reciprocated hurt the heart.

Diana, that was a moving scene. They’ve cast these brothers well. Javier has the sweetness of his dad and Iñaki the greed of his mother and charm of his dad. Still hoping he can redeem himself somehow. That there's a line he won't cross.

For Santi, AnaLu was definitely a substitute for AnaLet, but only in the beginning. He truly fell in love with her when he got to know her.

In all the flashbacks of AnaLet and Marcelo, she was very superficial and self-centered. Subconsciously, Marcelo knew that. Because she was so sexually appealing he closed his mind to it. As he remembers more, he is recalling how much AnaLet feared that AnaLu would be found, and how she plotted against that happening.

In contrast, AnaLu is self-LESS and has a dignity that AnaLet doesn't have. If you look at the scenes with AnaLu and Santi there is such tenderness. He grew to love HER.

Thank you, Cynthia. You recap like a professional. :-)

And thanks to Vivi for further distilling some of the facts. It really is a challenge to put the pieces together sometimes, when they are being thrown at us willy-nilly.

Last night, in the midst of the bang-bang-bang of revelations, I asked myself why couldn't they have spread this out over a longer period of time so it'd be easier to digest each new thing. But then I realized that if we'd had time to think about each one, we probably could have figured out what was coming next.

I was so surprised by Ratmundo shooting himself in the head that I had to wind it back and watch it twice to understand what had happened. At first I thought Ramiro had fought him for the gun and shot him by mistake. But no, Ramiro was nowhere near him. (Jumping up on the desk seemed a big melodramatic, though! He did jump up on the desk, didn't he? I was watching on the smaller TV and sometimes things are hard to make out, but that's what it looked like.)

Glad Santi finally remembered that AnaLet ordered the hit on Marcelo.

It was a sweet thing to see the smile fade from AnaLet's face as Tio told her yet again that he loves her like his little girl.

TOA: "Without Ev's knowing participation, exactly what ax did Rod have to grind with Evaristo?" As far as I can tell, the ax is that Evaristo is out to get Ernestina and her family, while Rod is still in love with Ernestina. It's not a grudge over the butt-kickin', but the desire to protect his fair lady. The guy really knows how to carry a torch.

So yes, it does appear that Rodrigo is totally a good guy, or at least he's on Ernestina's side. On the other hand, while we don't know 100% that he's the guy who provided a substitute corpse for Marcelo, we don't have any other suspects. So where did Rod find this dead person? Did he simply bribe someone at the morgue for a john doe of the right size and shape (and draw the tattoo on with a pen), or did he have someone whacked??

Can we maybe have a redo of that whole car in the river, but have SoeBad find 'Let instead. Now that would be 'Must see TV'. Ay Yai yai, sister.

toa

Whoever it was who suggested on the Karmageddon post that Soledad should be "sentenced" to take care of an incapacitated AnaLet, that was a brilliant punishment.

I'm almost dreading what will happen to AnaLet. She will deserve it, but that's why I'm dreading it - because if it's awful enough for all she's done, it's going to be hard to watch.

I think both Inaki and Orlando will die. One will kill the other, and the other will die some other way.

Everyone else, I still can't guess. I certainly wouldn't have guessed what happened to Evaristo or Edmundo. I must say we are getting a pretty sweet payoff for waiting through several months of hardly anything happening.

One thing I noted about Edmundo's suicide that I thought was interesting compared to other telenovela character suicides by gunshot wound was the way he held the gun. It was literally a few inches away from his temple, whereas characters like Maleny in YNCELH and Fabiola in LQLVMR held the gun right against their temple then fired. It was interesting to see the (fake) blood from the camera angle and how he landed on the chair.

I just hope Ramiro has his wits about him enough to Not Touch The GUN, and call the PoPo right now while the body is still warm, (if it ever were).

I don't want Rambo framed for his Father's suicide.

And I agree TF, that was an entirely satisfying head shot. I don't know that I would have enjoyed it any more if it were me pulling the trigger. :-)

Thanks Cynthia, great recap. I am sooo impressed with AB in her scene with Soledad, the Soledad actress seemed to rise to the occasion to give a good performance too. I agree with every one that Ev and Inaki were the most charming villains. I'm loving this TN because nothing is cookie cutter. Thanks to all the recappers once again.
Yola

Put me on record now as predicting that Eric del Castillo will get a trophy for his performance. Angelique also.

Oilando was a real idiot for sending the video to Inaki, but then again he doesn't know Ana MeMeME as well as we do. Inaki doesn't know her as well as we do! She's more likely to kill Oilando over the money but she will have no control over the video (which she doesn't even know about yet).

Agreed, SoleBad still doesn't get it. Although she may have saved Ana Lucia's life in more ways than one by having kept her away from Ana MeMeME. What is truly baffling me is how Ernestina, Leonor, Ana Laura, and Mariano missed what a sick sociopath that girl is. Mariano doesn't live in the mansion, but he is the object of her obsession. Viri's point about being a woman and seeing this sort of behavior in women looking to seduce is an important one. He could be blind to this specifically because he's known her since she was born. However, I think Samuel made a similar point but just didn't go far enough.

Didn't Alfredo find the body that was marked with that stupid tattoo?

Urban- Alfredo was in the hospital dying, while Marcelo was unconscious, while the body with the tattoo was being found/prepared to throw Evaristo and everyone off Marcelo's scent and convince them he was dead.

I cried. I never cry for a TN. But I was in agony. My mom predicted it before he even pulled open the drawer! Me & my sister were like "yeah right". Even though me & my sis had been spoiler-ed with the finale and knew that Edmundo wasn't in it, we still were shocked. I was in denial when I saw the gun & still felt like he was going to shoot Ram. It wasn't until he said he wasn't going to prison, that it hit me the madre was correcto. And in that instant, he shot himself & I screamed. And as Ramiro cried, I was crying.

As someone who's had to intervene on 2 separate suicides, yes it is VERY realistic that he jumped on the desk the way he did. There is madness & hysteria in those moments. Poor Ramiro, my heart is still breaking for him.

Tin can suck on a rotten huevo. I hope that Ram calls Llora & she's forced to go to him first. Maybe she'll tell him about AnaLu & still get the chance to introduce them.

We knew Jen was his cousin, when her bro mentioned trying to reach Uncle Facundo, for her funeral. We knew Marc was a Fed when his father reunited w/ him & explained to Santi how he went from an agent to running his own agency.

I believe Ev was placed as hired security for the wedding, or just worked for Papa Jefe in general as a guardespalda or cadenero. That might be how he was acquainted with Margerita. Ev didn't know Rod was going to be at the wedding, he just happened to be on duty.

Inaki's an idiot. I've lived in NYC long enough to know how to get rid of a dead body (no not a killer lol, it's just something new yorkers know instinctively). As soon as he saw that photo, he should've went back to where he dumped the body. Remove it, dump it in an ocean or deep cliff where nobody passes through. Then replace a body bag full of leaves, trash, or AnaLet's wardrobe. Call Oily. Tell him to shove it. Then wait excitedly as Oily goes to report him, only to discover there's no body in that bag & Oily's now in police custody w/ no plea bargain to save him.

Julie *raises hand* Fui yo! I said that either she take care of a disfigured AnaLet in a manicomio or when they off AnaLet for storyline closure, she then takes care of Tin. Both would be the child-dependents she's always deserved!!

Brava at AnaLu! Glad Rod is a protagonista & not a bad dude. Wasn't shocked that Fac-man was head of a criminal org, but surprised that Marc was undercover all along.

Gracias a Cynthia. You did a great job! Great show!

I stand corrected, there are three or maybe four good guys, Ramrod Java and Tado.

My last count was only two. You were crying? I was turning backflips and moonwalking. Ram will get over it when it sinks in how rotten Rat truly was.

toa

I wasn't crying b/c of the Rat, I was crying for the Ram. Lots of old feels flooded back to me, I guess.

"Lots of old feels flooded back to me, I guess." Wow. I should think so.

What did you mean by "me & my sis had been spoiler-ed with the finale and knew that Edmundo wasn't in it"? You don't actually mean a spoiler for the finale, do you?

My sis follows them on Instagram, and they posted photos showing the characters in the finale. So certain characters are accounted for, and certain characters aren't. It's likely some characters are just missing from the photoshoot. Anyboogiewho, awhile ago my sis goes and shows them to me and I'm sitting there twiddling my thumbs thinking this is from an episode in the upcoming week. Nope, she says, it's the finale. Nefarzos were the least of what she got from me lol. Then again, based on last night, looks like I can still be surprised. If this was a Wednesday shocker, I wonder what Friday will bring :O

Sorry Ms Banana, it must be rough when you have first hand experiences.

Cynthia - Thank you. What a great job you did! Hard to believe that you aren't recapping this complicated novela all the time.

I am late to the gate, still out-of-town helping my mom with a few things and catching this novela when I can later the next day (and looking forward to it all day!). I have nothing to add to the always thoughtful commentary of this gang.

I do think that this novela, with all of the complex twists and turns, has to be watched pretty consistently. Surely that must reduce Viewerville's size a bit. Missing even one or two episodes really puts a viewer behind. I was late starting and am so glad that I watched the episodes. Fabulous though the recaps have been, I am not sure I could have followed this without seeing the players in action.

I think that AnaLu is the prettiest of the many characters that AnaLe has played (probably missed some along the way). The curls and softer make-up become her.

I presume it is crucial to the plot for Granny and Unk to be oblivious that they have the daughter of Satan living with them as a Niece/Grand daughter. But we know from life that you almost always figure people out. IE: It may take years to see a coworker accurately, but it inevitably happens. And coworkers only have one third of a day, give or take, 5 days a week. Granny and Tio have her 24/7. Is let supposed to be that good at hiding her true self? If the cloak ever comes off it should be fun to see the reaction.

t

Mati said " Missing even one or two episodes really puts a viewer behind" in sharp contrast to As the stomach turns or Dulls of our lives which are notorious for you being able to miss a week and not be behind.

The phone rang as I posted that last comment. AGH!!! It makes no sense.

I mean to saw that Ana Lu is the prettiest of the many characters that Angelique has played along the way. Again, the curls and softer make-up become her.

Hope I can watch tonight episode...since waiting still what will this huricane do to us here in Fl...hope we will have a power and praying everyone will be safe:(

TOA It's cool TOA. What doesn't kill you, gives you alotta unhealthy coping mechanisms and a really dark sense of humor :P

You can read all about it in my memoir one day.

Mati I thought she was prettier in Teresa, but I'm a sucker for brunettes. It seems in order to differentiate her, they use porcelain foundation, bare lower lids, red lipstick, and darker eyebrows for AnaLet with feathered hair. And beige foundation, with earth toned shades her lips, and lighter eyebrows for AnaLu with curls. Ana Laura is more stripped down. Teresa had thinner brows, and wore mascara on upper & lower lids. Montserrat was a Teresa with Blonde hair. Elisa was more like AnaLu, but tanner and straighter hair.

My good thoughts are with you, Anon. So many people are waiting to see what the storm will bring. Take very good care.

Anonymous in Fla. I have been watching the weather reports for "your neck of the woods" all day. I pray that you will be safe and weather the storm without too much damage.

Anon8:05 My aunt lives in FL & everything is closed. She was in NJ when the blizzard caused a blackout. Pobrecita, she just can't catch a break! She plans to fill the washer with ice to keep all the food cool in case of a power outage. When the ice melts, it'll drain easy. Another good idea is to place candles or solar bulbs in front of a mirror to give off more light in the dark. Sending you good vibes!

Anna - Great description of the make-up and hair used for the three. I have missed a lot -- I am going to have to study them more closely. I hope that they liven up Ana Laura's look by the end.

I will have to take another look at her in Teresa. It's been a while. I thought she often looked pretty as Montserrat, depending on hair style and outfit, but that the blonde hair didn't become her.

Thank you all for all your lovely compliments!

Urban: Thanks! I had never caught the fact that Jennifer and Marcelo were cousins. And you are right, they probably only said it once or twice, long enough for me to not catch it.

Diana: Thank you and I'm glad you liked the tone of how I delivered the recap. Several of you liked the "ding dong, the witch is dead" and "Ratmundo esta muerto". But that's the first think I said to myself when I was watching it. :)

Vivi: Thank you for your compliment and for filling in the blanks that I may not have explained too well because it was going over my non fluent Spanish head. But I'm so much better now listening and understanding a lot more than I did just a few months ago. I was a little bit confused on the Rod, Ev, Facundo relationships going on and how the mob was so involved. I wonder if Ernestina's father was part of the mob too?

DaisyNJay: Yes, poor Ramiro to have to deal with finding out his own father is a criminal and then watch him commit suicide right in front of him. Horrible, horrible, scene for anyone to go through.

Julie: Thank you. No, not a professional writer, I'm a number cruncher, all day long. Writing gives me a good outlet.

Anna: Thanks! I never thought of how to get rid of a body in NYC. LOL! You are good!

Traveling Lady: Thank you. I do enjoy helping out if one of the main recappers needs some help. Maybe I'll think about doing it on a more regular basis.

To everyone in Florida and other places where the hurricane is hitting. May God be with you and stay safe.

Now the novela is starting to real real twists and turns, and 1/2 truths are alluded. Just catching up and looking so forward to Thor next episode.
