Tres Veces Ana 116: Facundo Hires Dr. Demento and Two Halves Are Whole
Pate 1~~
[--This, Halloween and Rocky Horror Picture Show fans, was right up your alley. It was definitely one to say “Get your freak show on.”—edit.]
Refridito: Alone in her jail cell, a pensive Soledad misses and mourns her wrecked relationship with Ana Lucia and recognizes, finally, how selfish she was to have kept the girl as her own all these years; Ana Lucia, meanwhile is having another nightmare, but this time she dreams of the accident and awakes to the realization Ana Leticia didn’t try to help keep her from floating away in the river. (Now, let’s see if it sticks in her craw or not like it does Viewerville.)
El Nuevo:
Ana Lucia hears Javier sobbing in the sheets and learns he’s crying over having seen his mother in Iñaki’s apartment a few weeks earlier and wasn’t even aware of it. She abandoned them when they were tiny boys and he’s missed her and is angry at her but needs her in his life still. They ask each other if either of them will ever forgive the mother figures in their lives.
The next morning Marcelo watches in amazement as Ana Lucia dangles in the fabric ropes.
Speaking of spellbinding, Mariano and Viewerville listen, enchanted by the piano music supposedly coming from Ana Laura’s adroit digitery along the ivories. He heads outside and finds Valentin waiting for “his BFF,” Ana Llora, Queen of the quivering upper lip. They argue and Mo tells him to roll his sorry assets down the lane and never darken his niece’s door again! A Llora comes out and objects to her only friend in the world’s rough and unfair treatment. Mo tries warning her that Violentin has ulterior motives—“--he is not who he appears to be”-- but TinTin moves in for a kill shot. “—And you, puritanical Uncle Mariano. Are you who you appear to be?”
At Remedios’s Rooming House, Marco and A Lucha discuss his real reason for remaining there with the rest of them: to impress upon her the danger Ana Leticia presents to her because of her insane greed and need to be the center of attention and the object of all others’ affection. The woman put a contract out on his life years ago, after all. Why? Because of Ana Lucia and the fact he was hot on her trail and that his wife never wanted her found.
Meanwhile, breathy-voiced (and at times inaudibly so!!) Ana MiMi pays Yaki a visit to see how he’s healing. She tells him how she ran into Javier and he thought she was Ana Lucia.
Back at Mo’s, TinTin whines to A Llora that her uncle is the reason he’s now in a wheelchair.
Yaki informs A MiMi that Javi and A Lucha are acrobats who work together. He mentions they’re giving a performance and she should come see them perform. She tells him seductively that it would be a perfect opportunity for him to prove his love for her.
Meanwhile, A Llora gets mad at both “her men” for not telling her the truth about their relationship. TinTin whimpers pathetically that he didn’t want to upset her image of her uncle and Mo forbade him to tell. Mo challenges his version. He tells him to come out with it all, especially how it was a plan to make Mo’s life Hell. TinTin lies about Leo and A Llora approaching him in the park while he was simply playing for tips. Mo counters with the fact that Ramiro found a whole wall of stalker photos of him and A Llora dating back years, proving it was a planned encounter. TinTin plays dumb if not dumber than dirt.
Across town, Ram finds the file on Nerina and invites her over to apologize because his daddy robbed her blind during her weakest hours. When Nerina is told the truth she tells him the money is nothing compared to the way it tore her family apart. The only way Ram could ever make up for his father’s crimes is to back off his relationship with Ana Llora and leave the road clear for crippled Violentin to make her his wife. (Now, as Viewerville knows, via our former resident medico, Carlos, marital obligations for the man are nigh to impossible to comply with regarding consummation. This begs the question: WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU THINKING, YOU STUPID BROAD??? Ana Llora deserves a normal and FULFILLED sex life if she can have one. Why wreck her life any more than it already is, you silly fool?)
Uncle Mo warns TinTin not to use his niece to get back at him. Tinny lies again and almost convinces A Llora as well, that he’s really in luhhhhv with his niece; that Mo and Ram are trying to destroy his life—uh, even worse than it was already. “—Wasn’t it enough to have broken my spine to bits?” Mo tells him it’s time he recognize it was simply an on the job accident for which he took responsibility.
Mo paid his hospital bills and paid his workman’s compensation/damages. “--No, not that check you tried giving me at the funeral home while I was mourning the love of my life, Gina!!” Mo tells him that he better realize how Gina 'was a con artist, who bamboozled you, me, Ramiro, everybody!! What happened was that she left you high and dry. She took everything you had. I NEVER robbed you!” No, because you didn’t have to did you, answers Tinny. “--You gave her everything. You loaded her with jewelry and luxuries galore. You even bought her an apartment so you could have a daily roll in the sheets with her!! Oh, it surprises you that I know this? At first I thought it was Ramiro when she told me she’d left me for another man. But Ana Laura made it clear that Ramiro and she met much later on. She had left me for you, Mariano!!”
Parte 2~~
Violintin makes Mo admit that he and Gina were lovers and cheated on both Ram and Jennifer till the day she died, throughout even knowing she was going to marry Ramiro. He cannot deny it, despite Ana Llora’s pleas. TinTin tells him to admit he and Gina planned a way to injure him and left him in a wheelchair. He is adamant, however, that he had nothing to do with Tin’s accident. Then, why did he have Marcelo go to his home and threaten him and beat him up, asks TinTin. Because he wouldn’t just leave him the heck alone! Because he came to Mo’s office all drunk and waved a gun in his face. That’s why!! Ok, then Violintin will prove that he and Marc killed Gina. No way was it a suicide!! Mo doesn’t deny it. (Ruh-Roh! What does Mo know and when did he know it????) A Llora wants a break from the both of them. She’s outta here-now and how!! She leaves to pack up and TinTin sports another mischievously triumphant grin. (No wonder Marcelo knocked him out of his wheelchair that time and left him lying on the ground. The snake deserved it!)
Ram, meanwhile, advises Nerina that she’s been blinded by her love and guilt, that her son isn’t who he appears to be. He doesn’t love Ana Laura and he’s only using her to get back at him because of Gina. He’s sick in the head, full of hatred and bitterness. He needs help—professional help.
Rem visits Sole in the slammer. (ZZZZZ FF>>FF>>)
Julieta is now working as a seamstress for Viridiana. (We suppose it was a skill she gave up when she married her philandering, floozy-flipping, whore-hopping, two-timing, hoochie-kooing hubby. Hard, honest work is good for reclaiming the soul. Now, to reclaim Javier, who I DESPERATELY wish would GET.A.GRIP!!)
Ram enlightens Nerina on how Gina took TinTin for everything he had and more, how it was a workplace accident that crippled him, that Mo paid for everything and the compensation for damages, how Gina stole that from him and then when she found out he could no longer walk, she abandoned him. Nerina, knowing Gina, doesn’t doubt a word of it. However, A Llora has called off the engagement. Ram says she had a right to be angry because he kept quiet about her sister being alive. But both of them are guilty of covering up for third parties. Yes, she agrees. She even refused to tell Dona Ernestina—though Nerina declares it wasn’t her place to. Ok. Well, now, she has a chance to do right. Stop her son before he harms Ana Laura, because he’s warning her nothing will stop him from payback if TinTin dares lay a hand on a single hair of her head, y punto.
Mo tells TinTin ok, he’s gotten him back. Now get rolling and call it a day. Violentin laughs in his face and says, he’s only just begun!
Marcelo professes his love to Ana Lucia—once it’s clear to her that Santiago is only a part of Marcelo’s subconscious and one he’s now ready to make peace with. They kiss. She falls under the spell of his macho magic.
Inside, A Llora stops her return trip to play the piano again. Mo moves her suitcases back into the guest room and calls Ram to come over to get A Llora out of her funk. She’s had a bad day emotionally and needs Ram’s attentions desperately.
Marcelo arrives with Ana Lucia so she can finally meet her sister, Ana Laura. The two mellow out and go upstairs together to get to know each other better. Marc and Mo argue a bit over the divorce papers. It was Santi who signed them and agreed to stay away from Mo’s nieces, not Marcelo. Marcelo refuses to do this, though he agrees to the divorce. He also tells Mo it’s up to him to see that Ana MiMi signs the divorce papers as well.
Nerina confesses to Rem that TinTin is sick at heart with bitterness and hate and it scares her to confront him. Rem advises motherly love.
On his way over to Mo’s, Ram is ambushed by Facundo and his guerreros. They tranq him and shanghai him to parts unknown—er, wherever that cabin in the woods is. There Facundo and Violentin oversee a secret back operation on an unconscious and unknowing Ramiro. When he finally wakes up, Ram is tied to a bed. Ram starts screaming that he cannot feel his legs. TinTin laughs drunkenly over at him and says, “--Welcome to my world!! Bwahahahahaha!"
Ana MiMi walks in on Mo and Marco. She learns Marcelo has brought Ana Lucia there and the two other sisters are upstairs getting to know each other. She goes upstairs and enters the room where the other two are getting along fine and imperiously interrupts. “—Finally, all three together.” Ana Llora knows that tone of voice and her eyes go wide with fear while Ana Lucia looks up as innocently as a newborn babe.

We may never learn the truth but I wonder whether the writers retconned Facundo into this evil mastermind to make other elements of the story make more sense or possibly because the actor likes to do such characters.
I loved hearing Ana Laura play stronger music. Her previous repertoire was so insipid by comparison. However, I don't want to see her move back into the snake pit.
"Mariano and Viewerville listen, enchanted by the piano music supposedly coming from Ana Laura’s adroit digitery along the ivories", "Ana Llora, Queen of the quivering upper lip" and "TinTin plays dumb if not dumber than dirt".
My track record of accurately predicting or even sometimes "seeing" things clearly visible is spotty at best. But never in my wildest dreams did I ever foresee how masterfully manipulative Valentin was. And is. A mastermind of vengeance and brutality.
UA, I've said before I can't reconcile how the silent, retrospective Facundo who truly seemed to be grieving his son's death morphed into Facundo, the monster. But your speculation certainly made sense. You seem so certain that the devious surgery hasn't occurred yet, I will take solace that Marcelo will ride to the rescue before that occurs.
From everything that has been revealed though, it seems that it was Mariano who truly did Gina "wrong". After reading what went down here, I don't understand why Valentin chose to take his revenge on Ramiro (?) Also, if we know why Facundo is going along with Valentin on all this horrific cruelty, it has completely escaped me.
Nerina, you have disappointed me. Even if you don't see your son's depth of depravity, you know Ana Laura loves Ramiro. Why are you encouraging Valentin?
Clearly Ana Let wants Inaki to kill Ana Lu. I refuse to believe he will go along with this. I can't sit at his table but I'm hovering nearby. Hope springs eternal.
Ana Laura's childish petulance is wearing however, she is right in that all the men in her life have not been truthful or forthcoming about things she needed to know.
Jardinera, thank you so much. Can't wait for Part 2.
Diana
Valentin was delusional about Gina. We knew that when we got the flashback of Nerina catching them flagrante delicto and in every scene where he mentioned her name. What I think is going on here is nothing particularly unusual: Valentin -- like many men -- thought he was The One for her, for whom she would give up her grifting ways. He overestimated his own appeal. Now an attractive musician who comes from some money would be a catch for most young women, but he wasn't enough. And when the family money was lost along with his ability to walk she took a hike for greener pastures (which would be a great ironic pun if this were happening in the US).
I don't know whether Valentin realizes yet that she was in cahoots with Ratmundo, the man who stole his family fortune. Thus far I think only Ramiro, Marcelo, Nerina, and now Mariano know about that.
Ratmundo and Facundo have been delusional fathers. Both were hoping to mold their sons in their own image. They tried to turn them into insensitive sociopaths and both have failed. Ramiro had the advantage of having gone away to get his master's degree and getting away from the whole thing after the Gina catastrophe. Marcelo made the mistake of marrying Ana Leticia because he fell for a shadow that had no real substance. He almost paid with his life for that. Unless the writers do the horrible thing of killing him off he will emerge from this mess much stronger and more cautious about his dealings with people.
Loved Part 1 and the editorial comment is perfect. Yes, freak show is on!
Thank you, too, for covering so well the sweet scene between Javier and AnaLu. They sure do share problematic mothers.
Diana - my take on the revenge against Ramiro has to do with two things. First, Evaristo threatened Ramiro several times for his role in the death of his grandsons. Perhaps there is some honor among thieves -- Facundo carrying out Evaristo's revenge. Facundo also has reason to want to hide Ratmundo's fraud. Only Ramiro has an idea of its true extend at this point.
Those are my thoughts on something that may well have been concocted late in the game for the writers.
What I don't get at all is Tin Tin's efforts to get AnaLaura to the cabin? Has he switched from wanting to marry her to wanting to kill her? Or to have her see Ramiro tortured? He certainly is diabolical, whatever the case.
There are a lot of ways the writers could mess with our heads at this stage regarding Valentin's motives about Ana Laura, whom we know he doesn't love:
-- He might force her to marry him by threatening Ramiro's life and then force Ramiro to watch the ceremony
-- He might threaten to kill her if Ramiro does anything to him or Facundo
-- Both of the above
If he succeeds at marrying her it will only be for long enough for him to claim whatever share of the family money she has. He could be in cahoots with Ana Leticia about this while being foolish enough to think he can roll away -- or walk away -- into the sunset with his dinero. He'd be next on Ana MeMeME's hit list.
All this could be bait to get all three sisters out there so Facundo and he could kill all of them. Since the divorce is still pending Marcelo would inherit everything Ana Leticia owns and he would be next on the hit list.
"We suppose it was a skill she gave up when she married her philandering, floozy-flipping, whore-hopping, two-timing, hoochie-kooing hubby." Me too if I were married to Ghoulietta, I'd take a lifetime of the fun girls to one night in Halloweenland. But I'm sure you all could care less, moving on...
When AnaWaaa!Waaa! finally realizes that of all the people in her tiny world, Ramiro is right up there with Leonor at the top of the waiting list for sainthood, she will be taking that prosth off and beating herself over the head with it.
She will probably realize that about the same time the doctors announce that the damages to Ramiro's spine is permanent and he will never have children. Have a happy life crybaby.
I am disappointed sometimes with these TN characters being so dumb, until I notice that they really do reflect real life. A lady here in FloriDUH spilled gasoline in her car trunk. So she went to the car wash and put a quarter in the vac and started vacuuming it out, which exploded the vacuum like dynamite, DUH! So she just hopped in and drove off.

I don't know, I'm actually not loving how this is wrapping. It's like Halloween Part 36. Sometimes the wacko villain is played with just too much ability to get away with things, and suddenly everyone just lines up so we have some TAH DAH finale.
Now that we have this stupid set up, I'll go with it if Inaki, realizing AnaLoon has stepped over the sanity line, wants to pull him in to help take out her sisters and in playing along, goes to Marcelo and they head in to save the day...and of course, he'll have to most likely die trying since he committed crimes himself. (Boy, would I still love to learn the whole killing his brother was a fake out with him playing along with her, but I doubt it.)
toa
Kirby, thanks for reminding all of us that there is a reason some of us will not cry in public if we can at all help it.
Daisynjay, I also want to think that Inaki has limits. I'd like to think that he wasn't the one who killed Daniel, but for the writers to retcon that now would make me angry. Daniel was an entitled spoiled brat and Inaki never knew him as a brother. Daniel treated him like garbage in the little contact they had and that would not have changed after any Big Reveal. This doesn't justify the murder.
However, he's known Ana Lucia for almost their whole lives. This is a line I also hope he won't cross.
Only one comment: Someone needs to wipe that grin off of Valentín's face PERMANENTLY!
"She falls under the spell of his macho magic". And why wouldn't she??? Deep sigh...
Mati thank you for your reasons as to why Facundo tolerates Valentin. Makes sense...Still, his vengeance quest and thirst for "blood" would make more sense if directed at Mariano, whom Val has far more reason to hate than Ramiro. I do not like Mariano who has done some pretty horrendous things but who has been accountable for nothing.
daisy, it would be wonderful if Inaki's flashback to killing Daniel was only his guilty thoughts in considering it. I think though that it was all too real. Tadeo and Javier are in for a world of hurt although it would be lessened if he did die trying to save someone else.
I think Ana Let is mentally ill. I feel there is a distinct difference between mental illness and evil, although at times there is a fine line. However, I see nothing but pure evil in Val and Facundo. I hope they )along with the doctor and nurse who did that surgery) get everything that they deserve.
Diana
Hear, hear Jardinera!!! He is beyond disgusting.

Is it just me, or are telenovelas getting darker and more hopeless? When I first fell down the Univision rabbit hole about nine years ago, every telenovela had at least one happy couple to provide an example that a good relationship was possible and at least one priest to act as a moral compass. Families were depicted as strong and connected. The galan and leading lady were easy to identify. I , personally, like a clear depiction of good guys and bad guys.
So...our the writers just doing some stream of consciousness storytelling? I cannot wait for this show to end. In the words of my amigo Carlos...NEXT !
I am angry with her because Ramiro's 'crimes' against her are trivial, in the grand scheme of things in this TN, and the good he has done is immense. He has been put in situations where ANY decision he makes is wrong and has done the best anyone could.
And he has undying, unwavering devotion to that onelegged brat through thick and thin. While she abandons him at the drop of a hat in the face of almost irrefutable evidence advising her to the contrary, and believes others who she knows have an ulterior motive rather than Ramiro.
So she can sit on that chair with Vin Tin Tin and cry over Ramiro for the rest of her life when it dawns on her what a selfish fool she has been.
And yes, I would never want you to cry Ms Ant.

Urban, Inaki has only known AnaLucia since she and Mari joined their group in the city. He doesn't really know her much. I won't put anything past Inaki. He murdered someone in a coma and then murdered an 80 year old guy. He is a coward.
The scene of Ram being worked on in the hospital gave me the skeevies. I don't know what Val's end game is at this point but it can't be good. I'm also worried that the writers broke up Viri and Mariano so that Mariano can die at the end now.
The reunion between the real AnaLu and AnaLaura was sooo sweet. I wish we had gotten more of it before AnaLet showed up.
"When AnaWaaa!Waaa! finally realizes that of all the people in her tiny world, Ramiro is right up there with Leonor at the top of the waiting list for sainthood, she will be taking that prosth off and beating herself over the head with it."
Not only do I agree with this, it is LOL imagery.
Goulietta getting OJT--the thought did cross my mind.

UrbanA: "-- He might force her to marry him by threatening Ramiro's life and then force Ramiro to watch the ceremony
-- He might threaten to kill her if Ramiro does anything to him or Facundo
-- Both of the above"
I pick both of the above. I am also in agreement (desperately hoping) that Fecalmundo hasn't really totally cut Ram's spinal cord. However, I cannot imagine the reason for all the long surgery otherwise. If it were a matter of getting spinal fluid in some off the wall treatment that might give TinTin a chance at walking again, I might-just might-buy it. I just don't know....
=========
Diana/Traveling Lady: "Ratmundo and Facundo have been delusional fathers. Both were hoping to mold their sons in their own image. They tried to turn them into insensitive sociopaths and both have failed." Interesting observation. Carrying out Evaristo's revenge is a far-flung possibility but still a possibility.
============
daisynjay: I might like seeing Yaki redeemed since he has so far protected (as far as he knows) Ana Lucha from A MiMI and does respect Santi's love for her as a reason not to let Ana Loony get too kill-crazy so far. His kill-crazy, especially where his brother, Daniel, was concerned IMNSHO has damned him and the best he might hope for is to sacrifice himself in saving her from Letmeeeeeeeeeee.
=============
Susanlynn: Yes, darker and darker. I think they have to stretch further these days to get any kind of shock out of the fans. We've all become too inured.
----------
Carviville: I didn't think the break up between Vi and Mo was permanent but you could be right and that would leave the way open for Sam the Sham I Am attorney. However, he's been up to his neck in crime helping Fecalmundo and Marcelo and Mario all these years. I don't see her or Ghoulieta getting another man in this now.
I object to this depraved mad scientist business because it is creepy and unnecessary and is perhaps as someone pointed out the Televisa counter to the narconovelas. Let's assume that Urban is right and the torturing of Ramiro is a ploy to get AnaLaura to marry Valentin. Makes perfect sense. Given her personality a simple threat to shoot him would suffice.
But my biggest beef is that this novela has turned on lots of talk, flashbacks, convoluted plotting -- so much so that it's impossible to keep track of if you miss a couple of episodes. How much time do we spend on this forum trying to figure out what happened earlier and how that connects?
I suspect that this has not been the ratings buster they hoped for (no data, just a guess) because ithe story is so complicated. So why insult us very faithful viewers with something that is out of left field and completely at odds with the intelligent and complex way that the story has been told?
I haven't seen the earlier versions of this but wonder how much as been retained here at the end. Of course novelas have changed, as others have said.
Thanks Jardinera for ff thru Sole/Rem scene. So useless and they make me angry.
I sure hope Ana Laura spoke to Ana Lucia long enough to realize she'd been conned earlier.
There is just so much to be found out about the Daughter of the De..AnaLetMeetMeinHell that it is high time for some of it to start coming to light.

This TN has grated on me because even the characters we were supposed to support are dark which realistically makes your head spin. Others are down-right annoying and not written to really embrace except for AnaLu and possibly Ramiro. THat totally missed the boat with how they wrote and transitioned Llora. A few token moments of lightness might have been helpful if they wrote the characters better. I had higher hopes for the ending, watching a psychological drama play out...and then this turned to mafia and everything becoming about some old guys waiting till they have one foot in the grave anyway to grab money has been a bust. And Tin and Facundo as the ultimate villians...that would be a big fat NO!
I think that's why I enjoyed El Hotel more. Definite positive characters, moments of lightness that balances the dark, and a fun plot that maybe was twisted, but darn, it kept you on the edge to figure out what the heck was going on. And c'mon, how many times is one of the sweetest guys in a tale who wins a key female a graying, overweight detective? I still cheer those two!

I'm new to Telenovelas and I have to admit I have loved this one.
Susanlynn, Can you tell me about your Scottish telenovas? How can I get them? I am of Scottish ancestry (In fact I have traced my ancestry back to the 1500's) I would be very interested in finding more about this!
As interesting as it will be to see AnaLet slowly unmasked, it will be equally satisfying to see AnaWaa, Tio and Granny admitting what they have all three refused to see for a decade and a half.
This TN just can not come to a happy ending without AnaLetMeMateMyTio kissing Tio on the mouth and trying to unbutton his shirt. That would not give me the nightmares that horse syringe did.

I wasn't turned off by the Fac-Tin's scheme against Ram. Maybe I'm just sick lol. I like dark plots, but I didn't feel the creepy vibe. For me, it hasn't arrived into the creepy stage....yet. I believe Ram is just numbed for now, and may be forced to watch some weird torture on his bod. I may have watched too many scenes from the Addams Family, but for me, torture is equated to a good time (I'm vegan, mind you, so please don't mistake me agreeing with torture in real life). But when it comes to fantasy, torture is where actors get free reign to play around & push our comfort zones. I can't wait to see what they have in store for us. Part of me is ready to be disappointed though, b/c Tio will likely alert Marc of Ram's absence & save him just in time.
Ana Laura played happy music for the first time in awhile, when she first got there. Then angry music after Tin & Tio's quarrel. Then Nerina's song as Ana Lu entered. Ana Lu recognized the song, which helped solidify their kinship. Can't wait for Ana Lu putting Ana Let in her place. The avances show them both standing up to her. Ana Let calls Ana Lu a slut, and she retorts "At least I'm not a murderer like you!". So I think it's safe to say that Ana Lu believes Marc, and Ana Laura will soon learn the same. Monday night should be a fun-tastic epi :)

They argue and Mo tells him to roll his sorry assets down the lane
She falls under the spell of his macho magic.
So Ana Laura has forgotten about her other friend, Valeria? Really?
Iñaki is starting to look desperate. If only he’d spend more time looking in the
mirror at what he’s become.
So where was Ana Laura going when she started to leave Mariano? Can’t stand this self-righteousness. Yes, Mariano did bad stuff, but nothing to deliberately hurt her. I’m betting Mariano and Viri wind up together. He just needs to find out she saw him kissing Clawdia. Plus, Ana Leticia deserves the pain of seeing him happy with someone.
I too think they only numbed Ramiro. We saw needle injections, but nothing removed. This is chilling, but realistically something sick TinTin would do. He hates Ramiro because he’s everything he isn’t. But my guess is Facundo the mastermind only wants to force Ramiro to cover his dad’s money laundering. He’ll threaten him with permanent paralysis if he doesn’t cooperate. Of course our hero won't go for this. Ratmundo killed himself without doing anything to protect his son. He could've at least wrote a note divulging secrets so Ram would have the upperhand.
Yes, the reunion between the real Ana Lu and Ana Laura was moving, with hardly any words spoken. Good job AB.
I've enjoyed this TN. All the storylines have been interesting, but Facundo turning out to be the evilest villain of them all seems last minute. I miss Ev.
I remember there were a few instances where he was trying to protect his son. But in that moment when Ram cornered him, yes he was only concerned about himself. It's his cowardice that does him in. For all his attempts at making sure Ev or Fac don't harm Ram, Ram ultimately ends up their most targeted victim.
I also miss Ev & would've been ok w/o this last minute twist. Fac is evil enough, but we haven't built up enough hate for him (or admiration of his villainy) to truly appreciate him as a bad guy, let alone any resulting anvil that may come.
Jardinera, This was such a funny recap. I admire your writing style.
I think 3VA is a perfect example of a telenovela where the writers have followed a plan. The plot is too complex, the storylines are too interconnected (plus the flashback narrative) for them to improvise. Some people may not like the direction they've taken, but these guys are NOT improvising in a Larrosa / Juan Osorio (Televisa producers) style.
someone else was wondering how close 3VA is to its predecessor. The answer: it's a COMPLETELY different story. They took the basic anecdote of the triplets, but have constructed a whole new story around it, one that's way more convoluted and ultimately interesting. It's impossible to know at this stage how it's all going to end. I doubt they'll try to replicate the original ending.
Not following this one closely, they made it too complicated with the illogical. If there is a twist I want an ah ha moment not a, that was stupid.
It really bothers me listening to Julieta and don't give a damn what she wrote in her journal. She made a choice and no redo for you.
Not impressed with the character Ramiro but he sure doesn't deserve a maiming.
Since Marcelo is rebranding to appeal to Lucia, and a killer ain't a killer if he only killed bad guys, how will he spin what he done to Gina? He left that out in his confession to Lucia.
It was stupid Mariano just fessed up to Laura but it's also stupid for anyone not to already know Mariano is a player.
I really view the triplets as individuals separately and now together. Good job pulling it off, I'm impressed.
The cliche of secrets that still continues to bother me is when someone doesn't know he or she is adopted. I can understand why Ana Lucia didn't know through most of this tale but when the adoption was legal there is no good reason to conceal it.
What's in Ghoulieta's journal is only important now because of how it will impact Javier. Tadeo is done with her and Inaki is headed for his Karmageddon.
Interestingly, I had a conversation with a friend who seems to think that identicals who are raised apart are more alike because they're not together and therefore not making an effort to differentiate themselves. Ana Leticia somehow just seems to be a Bad Seed that sprung up very very young.
Susanlynn - I drifted over to novelas from Spain when I got tired of the Televisa and Telemundo crop. Unfortunately, the Spanish TV channels with high-quality novelas no longer stream them. Still, some come to Netflix, including the original Grand Hotel, Velvet, the Time in Between and some others. That is another option if you want to watch Spanish novelas. There's a good Colombian one on Netflix now called Lady, La Vendadora de Rosas. I always come back to the Mexico novelas mostly because I have been watching them for so many years. I have become more selective but you never know what direction things will take. I have generally enjoyed this one because of the twists and turns but there is certainly not a lot of light and goodness here. Ramiro is one of the best, making his current fate most distressing. I have heard great things about Outlander. I am behind on the new Poldark but found first season to be full of beautiful scenery and first-class acting (still pining a bit for the original version).
BTW, I had the pleasure to meet Robin Ellis a few weeks ago at his book signing. He is very charming and still shows evidence of his handsome youth.
Overall though I'm really enjoying this one more than LQLVMR.
TOA, they definitely make much fancier sewing machines now than they did 40 years ago, but you can still get a fairly basic model that isn't much different. It's a good point, though - I should have paid attention. I would expect them to be using sergers for most work in that place, not a regular sewing machine, but I didn't notice what she was using.)
Diana: "I think Ana Let is mentally ill. I feel there is a distinct difference between mental illness and evil, although at times there is a fine line." More to the point, they can coexist. Not all mentally ill people are dangerous, and I don't think her evilness is due to her sickness. AnaLet isn't being urged by voices in her head to kill AnaLu in order to please an imaginary demon that controls her actions. She's plotting to kill AnaLu because she's greedy (evil) and also because she doesn't want to share people's attention/affection (narcissism, at a minimum).
I wonder if AnaLu and AnaLaura have already figured out that the first meeting was a fake. It's possible that the topic hasn't come up yet?
Susanlynn, you are right, and I don't like the trend. I don't mind if a TN is a little dark and twisted, if it reminds of Twin Peaks or something like that. And I liked Yago, which was dark but not particularly twisted - very straightforward. But when a story is absurd AND has no sense of humor, I mind very much. (Osorio can inject humorless absurdity even into a comedy. No more Osorio for me.)
I also prefer at least two characters (the galan and the protagonista) to be intelligent, make good choices, and have integrity. AnaLu is fine, but Marcelo/Santi has been a mess(which is okay with me because it's interesting, but disqualifies him as a galan as such). Ana Laura and Ramiro have both made a lot of stone-stupid choices.
I'm slow, what's OJT?
And thanks, Niecie, for explaining OTJ.
What frustrates me about the complexity of this story is the vast amount of filler that padded out the story in its first few months. The Gina thread runs through the entire story and apparently ties it all together, but we were given Gina's story in tiny pieces here and there, all of them buried amidst hours of tiresome, circular nonsense about people who were supposedly looking for AnaLu but either failing (because they believed Ev) or refusing to pass the information on (because of poor judgement).
If the Gina story was that important, then it should not have been so hard to follow. Those little nibbles were too small and too far apart for most of us to keep track of. It doesn't even appear to be all that long or complicated of a story, really. This could have been a 60 episode TN. I guess that doesn't matter to Televisa as long as they can make twice as much money on it by making it twice as long.
--What Osorio humor? I've seen nothing humorous at all in this tn.
--Also What happened to Cuervos as a bodyguard for SanMarco?
--I notedseeing my mother's 1930's something sewing machine at Viridiana's and forgot to mention it. My subconscious was screaming at me to ask if Vi liked it cuz it was an antique like Ghoulietta, but what the hey.......

OT:
I love the new Poldark.
As for Outlander, I didn't like the casting or directing, as I already had the characters in my mind having read a couple of the first in the series. I gave up halfway through the 2nd novel).
The most widely seen and popular telenovela out of Spain today is on Unimas: EL PRINCIPE. It has English CC and they speak faster than even the French! Anyway, it does grab you from the starting scenes and builds from there. It is a serious telenovela dealing with jihadis and gives the constant give and take between those who want to leave well enough alone within the Muslim community, the jihadis and the Spanish police trying to keep the peace and fight terrorism amidst personal problems within and without the police force in El Principe, who threw the Muslims out 600 years ago after 800 years of occupation--definitely not like the tripe Looneyvision/Telemundo likes to give us generally.

Agree that Facundo's hibernation is inconsistent with his current persona, but one could argue that it was a deliberate "disguise." He needed Leonor and the others to believe that he was grieving Marcelo's "death". He did look convinced that Marcelo was dead, but did he really know that he was alive and in a coma for three months, then awakened with global amnesia? We don't have that answer and unless he says so we won't really know.
Jardinera...I almost threw the second book in The OUtlander series across the room. However, I recommend that you give it anothrr try.I have read all eight books in the series , and I am waiting for the ninth. I am a fan of the TV series. I think that the casting has been good in most cases , but the writers do deviate from the books sometimes which is frustrating to readers who love the story.
Traveling lady and Urban, I did not see the original Poldark, but Carlos recommended it. PBS did an interview with Robin Ellis. He played a judge in season one. I kind of lost interest during season one, but so far season two is very good.Tbe scenery is lovely.
Susanlynn -- You are inspiring me to get going on Season 2 of Poldark. I did enjoy the first season of this new Poldark, just didn't grab me quite the way that the earlier one did.
Urban - Glad to hear that Robin Ellis is out there doing well. I didn't realize that he appeared last year in this new one.
The moment he opened his mouth (particularly his 'tough love' once he realised SantiMarce was alive) it was clear this guy was NASTY. Early on he suggested he could kill Reme (or have her killed). Early on we knew he was dangerous!
