A Que No Me Dejas #39: Wedding (and Divorce) Blues...

Adrian is stunned to hear the news about Paulina’s wedding. At that moment, Paulina walks in and listens quietly. Adrian wants to know how long ago and Ines explains that it was a couple of days ago but she begs him to not look for her again, she’s trying to move on with her life. Ines wishes him good luck and hangs up. Adrian is devastated.

Ines turns around and sees that Paulina was listening to everything. Paulina asks her about what he wanted and Ines explains that she didn’t let him talk. Paulina tells her that it was probably for the best, she doesn’t want to talk to him anymore. Ines tells her that she says one thing but her eyes betray her. Paulina agrees and Ines reiterates that if she already got married with Camilo so she shouldn’t speak to him again.

In Madrid, Adrian is crying on the stairs. He took the wedding news to mean that regardless of what Julieta or Odette did, Paulina still married Camilo so she must love him. Therefore, everything she told him at their failed wedding must be true. He promises to forget her.

Alfonso informs Gonzalo that they are going to trial for the divorce since he doesn’t agree to it. Alfonso tells him to agree to Ines’ demands and he will win a lot more, like Ines’ trust and respect, both of which he lost completely. Gonzalo quietly thinks about this.

Ines brings Gaston some home made cookies. She thanks Gaston for everything he’s done regarding Mauricio’s adoption. Mauricio thanks him as well in sign language. Paulina says goodbye since she has to go to work; she wishes them well. Once alone, Ines tells Gaston that should he every need anything to be please tell her. Gaston tells her that to see her smile is enough. He will always be there if and when she needs him.

Triana is surprised to see Adrian in the Tablao but she welcomes him. He tells her he needs to talk to someone and she agrees. She orders some wine for the table. He explains that he’s mad and disappointed because of what his sister and Odette did but Paulina’s marriage devastated him; he’s not sure whom to trust anymore. Triana suggests that he trust himself, in his own likes and dislikes and desires. And to trust that time heals everything.

Paulina sees that Jaime and Adrian on are the nominated publishing list. This brings the memories flooding back but she pushes them back down. She tells herself that she has the baby, Mauricio and baby and she shouldn’t think about him anymore.

Julieta arrives home with Jaime who tells her he’s been waiting for an explanation or apology or something. Julieta tells him that she won’t apologize for something she doesn’t regret. Jaime tells her that she will end up alone if she doesn’t change her way and value him because Adrian doesn’t want to see her anymore.

Paulina tells Karen that she’s unsure if she should regret the event planning. She’s likely to see him and she doesn’t want him to know she’s pregnant. Karen tells her she needs to focus on Camilo and move on and that this is a professional event and one thing has nothing to do with the other. Paulina arrives.

At the University, Odette tries to apologize and explain her actions but Adrian doesn’t believe her. He’s over her lies about caring about him, his family and the master’s program. She tells him again that she loves him and she only did everything for him but he doesn’t care because she doesn’t know how to love. He tells her he has nothing to offer her: friendship or a relationship.

Paulina brings Camilo a juice while they wait for breakfast. She tells him about Adrian’s call. She explains her mom spoke to him and he found out their married so he won’t call again. She also explains that she might see him at the publishing event but Camilo is adamant that she is free to do as she wishes. He trusts her completely.

Jaime tells Olga that he will bring her salary at night and Olga thanks him. Jaime then tells Julieta that he will only give her what she needs, in cash; he will handle the money from now on. As he walks away, Julieta announces that she doesn’t want to lose him and asks he take her to the psychologist. She called her early in the morning to make the appointment. Jaime agrees.

At the church, the kitchen trio visit San Judas Tadeo. They walk on their knees to the entrance of the church to give thanks, as they promised. They walk in and pray.

Gisela asks Jaime if Julieta seeking therapy is a good sign. Jaime doesn’t know and Gisela tells him it hurts her to see Julieta be so cold and distant with him. Jaime explains that he gave her an ultimatum: if things don’t change, he will divorce Julieta. Gisela tries to contain her surprise and, possibly, happiness.

Gonzalo calls Ines. He needs to talk to her about their relationship and wishes to see her whenever and wherever she wants. They make an appointment for that night at the house.

The kitchen trio is walking around in the supermarket, looking for a restaurant to eat, when Chelo sees a man drinking a juice at a stand and stops in her tracks. It’s her godmother’s husband! She remembers when he mistreated her: demanding hotter tortillas when she cooked, warning her that she’ll stay with them as long as she behaves while standing closing to her and grabbing her.

She starts to panic but Beto and Micaela aren’t paying attention. The man turns around and recognizes Micaela. Micaela tries to run away from him with Beto but not before he asks if this is his son… (O.M. G.) Beto asks Micaela if that’s his son but Micaela denies it. He always told her he didn’t have or want a son so he doesn’t have one. They leave and the man sees Chelo as Micaela and Beto grab her and walk away.

The psychologist asks Julieta why she married Jaime in the first place. She doesn’t think she did anything wrong going to Spain and putting her brother first, so why did she get married. Julieta tells her Adrian needed a father so he married a nice man to take care of him and her. She then asked why Julieta never had children and Julieta tells her that she didn’t need other children distracting her; Adrian is all she needs. She then asks why she’s still married and Julieta explains that Adrian will be back and he likes Jaime to be with her so she’ll stay with him.

Micaela and Chelo are freaking out about Rutilio (that’s the bastard’s name). Beto tells her he always wanted to meet his father but Micaela tells him that he was never a father and he needs to forget about him. Beto tries to change her mind but Micaela wants to leave and s does Chelo. They go to the bus stop.

That night, Gonzalo announces to Ines, Paulina, Camilo, Nuria and Leonel that he’s ashamed of what he did and that he made mistakes and wishes to apologize for what he did to all of them. He takes full responsibility of the situation and gives Ines the signed divorce papers.

In the bus, Chelo asks Beto if he’s angry but he tells her he just wanted to speak to his father. He tells her no but he will come back and find him. Chelo tells him he’s a bad man and seeing him will be a betrayal to Micaela but Beto is adamant.

Ines thanks Gonzalo for the papers. He tells her that maybe in the future there could be something else between them but she’s sure there won’t be. He hurt her too much and she prefers to stay with the beautiful memories of what they were. Nuria announces that she’s happy because they will all be present at their wedding. Paulina tells him that she accepts his apology because she doesn’t want to hold any resentment. Gonzalo then gives Nuria and Paulina the rings he and Ines bought for when they got married and they thank him.

Days later, Gonzalo walks Nuria to the altar and she marries Leonel (who is not wearing a tie but an open collared shirt with spray tan like he’s going to a beach and not a church). Nuria asks why he parents didn’t come but he shrugs it off. Everyone in attendance is happy for them, especially two women, one of which cries while watching the wedding.

Outside, Gonzalo witnesses a “romantic” encounter between Ines and Gaston. Raquel then asks Ines how she feels with all of society there but she tells her she’s fine. She just needs to find a way to rebuild her life, as everything she has been up to now is a wife and mother. Flavio and Karen ask Camilo and Paulina if they’re get married in the church but Paulina tells them it’s not in their plans yet.

While everyone congratulates Leonel, he notices the woman from the back of the church and goes to her. He demands to know what she’s doing there and drags her off. Karen and Ariel notice everything. The woman tells her that now that he’s important his wedding came out in the newspaper. She’s happy that he got everything he wanted and goes to hug him when he pushes her away and tells her that he’s ashamed she’s his mother and she repulses him.

Ines and Nuria are looking for Leonel for the wedding photos when Karen tells them he walked off with an older woman earlier. Nuria goes to look for him.

Leonel’s mother begs to see him every one in a while. She’s his mother! Nuria hears everything and demands to know what’s going on. The woman explains that she’s his mother, even if he’s ashamed of her. Nuria thought she was a rich woman who spent her time traveling but she can’t get any more details as Gonzalo arrives for the photo.

A few minutes later, they are taking the family photo. Gonzalo mid hugs Ines and she demands he let her go but he doesn’t budge. Nuria tells Leonel he has a lot to explain. They take a “family” portrait.

Some time later, Nuria and Leonel arrive at the wedding reception. She reprimands him for hiding the truth about his parents but he begs that she please smile because the guests are watching them. As they dance, Gonzalo grabs Ines so they can dance with the happily married couple. Gonzalo dances with Nuria for a bit and Ines with Leonel then grabs Ines again to dance with her. Gaston looks on…

Later, Mauricio is breaking it down on the dance floor. Gaston explains to Ines that he can hear the vibrations of the music and follow the rhythm. Mauricio then goes to them and asks that they dance. They are more than happy to oblige and join Paulina and Camilo. Gonzalo looks on, bothered by the scene but Raquel comments to Alfonso that Ines look happy, despite her divorce, because of Mauricio and Gaston. Alfonso agrees and they go dance with dance.

Across the room, Nuria is pissed that Mauricio is hogging all the attention so she drags Leonel to the dance floor. The whole crowd gathers around the couple and Paulina takes Mauricio off the dance floor so he doesn’t get scared. Ines goes to sit down and Gaston off to the bathroom when Gonzalo follows him. He warns Gaston to stay away from Ines, she hasn’t noticed his true intentions but he has and if he doesn’t, he’ll never divorce Ines…

Gracias, Alfredo!

Don't you just love wedding episodes in the middle of a series? Excellent venues for surprises of all kinds, drama, and starting fights between the (not so) Happy Couple.

Nuria made a beautiful bride despite her nastiness, which she was careful to conceal from everyone except Leonel. Lovely dress; you'd think he would have at least had enough class to wear a tie (unless that is not the custom in the tropics). At least he wasn't wearing the pajama-style whites so common in wedding scenes of other series (like Bruno in MCET).

There is obvious bad blood between Leonel and his mother and he owes Nuria an explanation about this. It's possible that Mama will scuttle their plans whether intentionally or accidentally. Who was the young woman sitting next to her in the pew during the ceremony?

Of course, Mauricio stole that scene as a moonwalking Cupid. I am so rooting for Ines and Gaston.

What were Michaela et al praying for? Could there be a miracle in store for Mauricio?

It's obvious that Julieta didn't marry Jaime for love. There is a good case for divorce there. But if she's still running around loose who would become her keeper?

I love wedding episodes.

My favorite wedding episode will always be in Por Un Beso where the galan was going to marry the villainess and the protagonista's best friend showed up at the church with his baby and stopped the wedding lol Everyone freaked out and I couldn't stop laughing.

Followed by Alejandro in going to get Ramona in the church and her jumping on the back of his horse in a wedding dress and them galavanting off to greener pastures. This one is for the romance.

This one was not as crazy, this episode, but Nuria did indeed look beautiful. She's a beautiful woman with her own gifts and talents so her jealousy is so unfounded it borders on stupidity.

When I saw Leonel's mother sitting next to that woman I thought maybe his mom had been married and left his dad for a woman. Who knows, we need more details.

The kitchen trio was praying for the miracle that Mauricio found a family and he's safely with them. The baby daddy news was huge though. I wonder how everyone will react as only Chelo knows the full extent of the news and its implications.

It is difficult to fault Beto for his curiosity, but Ratilo is very bad news. He abandoned Michaela (or did worse) and looked very predatory toward Chelo. This is just too horrid. I can't criticize Michaela for not telling him anything. He seems rather sheltered and naive, for which I do criticize Michaela.

I can't pick my favorite novela wedding at the moment, but that might be a good weekend topic. I'll craft an opening post and dig up some photos.

Urban - Mica, Chelo and Beto went to the church to fulfill a promise. When Mauricio was in danger of being taken away permanently by the DIF, the women prayed to San Judas Tadeo that if he granted them the miracle of returning him to the family, that they would personally go to his church in that village and enter on their knees to thank him. With Camilo and Pau's marriage and adoption of Mau, the miracle was granted, so they went to make good on their promise. This is very common in Mexico. Sometimes these "mandas" or promises, are very extreme. I've seen people enter from the parking lot all the way to the altar on their knees, resulting in scraped and bloodied knees, but people really do it. One time in the church of La Virgen de San Juan de Los Lagos I saw a woman chop off her waist-length hair, tie it up, and leave it at the altar to fulfill the promise after her daughter went into remission from cancer. There are countless other examples.

UA: What does the Gonz have on Gaston ?

Nothing. He sensed that Gaston is eyeing Ines.

I just hope there is nothing sinister about Gaston for him to find. However, I don't think Gonzalo is above inventing something.

Superalfe: I noticed that Jade Fraser is in this TN portraying the antagonist Carolina.

Alfredo thanks. Now that's a marriage made in hell. Nuria got just what she deserved. And so did Leo. This couldn't have happened to a nicer more
Deserving couple.
Gonzalo is a peice of work. He wants his other family and don't want Inez to be with anyone else. He's gonna steal the money from the other hotel?
I'm just guessing, but that sounds like something he'd do. Hey what did Gaston say to gonzo before he washed his hands and walked out? Anyone know?

I'm anxious to see how things turn out for Paulina, camillo,Adrian & triana. I
Think tri and cam would be good together. But that's just me wantin Adrian and Pauly back together again. And they will be. After all the
Cobwebs have been cleared away, and the spider(julieta).

Karen has got herself hooked up to a
Crazyman. Who she or somebody is gonna
Kill in order for her to get away from
Him. That guy sittin across the table
Lookin at him, he looks like he knows how crazy he is. Did anybody think to
Check out this guys pass? About the other women? If they're still alive? Or kept (in apartments) around town? Just saying.

Thank you Alfredo!

Can we all agree that Raquel is the queen of throwing shade? And omg the Murat family should just stay off the dance floor!

Whatever is going on with Leo it seems like he's not just embarrassed by his mother not having money, he actually seemed hurt to the point where he almost cried.

Thanks so much, Alfredo! Awesome, as always.

The Gonz is definitely up to something. His little scene with Gaston in the bathroom shows he's the same bozo he always was.

Leo's mom looked like a perfectly nice woman. Not sure why he's so ashamed of her.

I'm done with Adrian. Really, hearing that Pau just married Camilo completely dispels all his curiosity about how things really went down on their wedding day, after Juli threatened Pau? Doesn't the end of your relationship with "the love of your life" deserve a little more examination after learning a major revelation like that?

I think so, but he is probably worn out after all the drama coming from both sides. I actually believe he has reason to fear for his own life or that of any women he becomes romantically involved with thanks to his loca hermana.

Who should be locked up. He and Jaime need to wake up to that but I suspect they never will.
