A Que No Me Dejas (AQNMD) #41. Monday November 7, 2016. Stalker, Doormat, Slimeball, Martyr, It's Complicated. These Are The Choices For Relationship Status In Dejaslandia

Camilo has organized a private dinner for his wife, with a private view of a private body of water and a private sax player performing a romantic rendition of the couple’s private theme song.

In Madrid, Adrián is working late to finalize a presentation due tomorrow. Triana comes back from the Tablao looking rather glum (apachurrada). The Tablao where she works might have to close because it’s facing stiff competition from a newly-opened Tablao. Adrián offers her his genius marketing advice to help turn things around.

Back in Puerto Esperanza, Leonel goes out drinking with Ariel. He is looking for any excuse to avoid his new bride; he’s had enough of her during the honeymoon. Ariel listens to his friend’s rant then changes the subject. He reveals that he likes Paulina’s friend, Karen, but she seems to have a boyfriend, a patán/lout who doesn’t treat her very well. Leo rudely interrupts. He doesn’t know anything about this Karen girl and he doesn’t care. If Ariel would like to talk about his feelings for Pau’s friend, then he ought to talk to Pau. Ariel is annoyed that Leo is only interested in himself. He only wants to talk about his own issues and have others listen to him intently. Leo scoffs at Ariel: “¡Tan grandote y tan llorón! / You’re too big to be such a crybaby!” and walks away to get a refill at the bar.

At Chisme Central, Casa Murat’s kitchen where gossip never sleeps, Beto gives Mica and Chelo a detailed account of what he overheard at Nuria’s house. There has been no bunnyhopping whatsoever between the newlyweds. How did Nuria get pregnant then? Therefore, she must have been pregnant before her wedding, like Mica and Chelo had surmised. Beto adds another juicy little nugget: Leonel told Nuria that he would not touch her again until she delivers the baby! Blimey! That’s not going to help soften her temperament, reckons Mica. In any event, let’s keep this hush-hush. Not a peep of this to anyone outside Chisme Central!

The next day, Nuria visits Consorcio Murat with the sole purpose of yapping some more about her wedding to the poor employee who helped organize it. Leonel is tagging along, trying to look mildly interested. Suddenly, Acacia barges in with the police in tow. Nuria passed Acacia’s university transcript off as her own. Acacia vows to make her pay for fraudulently switching the transcripts. The police drag (jalonear) Nuria away as she clamors her innocence and her husband protests. Leo enlists Alfonso’s help.

Doormat Karen tells Paulina that Flavio is furious because he is convinced that she, Doormat Karen, had passed info onto her best friend to help her restaurant win the competition and host the marketing awards. Doormat Karen then asks Pau to talk to Flavio and assure him that his doubts are unfounded and that she won the competition on her own merit. Pau accepts to do it for her friend’s sake, but she rightly points out that if Flavio doesn’t believe his own girlfriend, why would he trust the word of a complete stranger?

The Gonz, Mónica and their kids go to their house in Chetumal, only to discover that it’s no longer their house. Caras impactadas all around. Mónica explains that she gave her mother a power of attorney (poder notarial) in case something Gonzo-related happens to her. The Gonz fumes and sputters. Elisa is a thief!

Jaime phones Adrián to inform him that the two of them have been nominated for the biggest marketing award in Mexico. Ironically, the campaign that got them nominated is the one they did for the Murat Hotels. Adrián doesn’t have money to attend the award ceremony in 5 months’ time. Sending Crazy back to Mexico finished up all his savings. Jaime says he’ll talk to the organizers and see whether they can help out. Julieta is pestering her husband to speak with Adrián. Jaime ignores her throughout the conversation then hangs up. Hey, why didn’t you pass the phone? I’ve been a good girl all this time! Jaime refuses to mention Julieta to Adrián unless Adrián himself asks. Besides, he doesn’t want to ruin his brother-in-law’s good mood.

In Madrid, Triana and her mother, Doña Remedios, toast Adrián’s nomination and promise to throw him a fabulous fiesta if he wins.

Back in Chetumal, Mónica calls her mother at the guesthouse where she is staying and scolds her for selling the house behind their backs. Elisa says she did it in case Mónica needed money for an emergency, especially given the problems she was having with her baby daddy back then. The Gonz snatches the phone away from Mónica’s hand and demands that Elisa return the house money today! Elisa hangs up on him. Mendiga vieja! Flippin’ vitch! He calls his secretary, Paty, to ask about his goon, Silvestre, and learns that his firstborn is in the county jail.

In Puerto Esperanza, Leo pays his imprisoned wife a visit and advises her to deny, deny, deny! She reproaches him for choosing Acacia’s transcripts to steal. Why bloody Acacia of all people? Because Nuria wanted to have the best grades and be just like Paulina! Nuria tells him that if she sinks, she’ll take him down with her. Leo tells her that threats are unnecessary. Just keep mum and everything will work out eventually. “¡Calladita te ves más bonita! / You look prettier when you shut your cakehole keep quiet!”

Alfonso is at the police station, doing his lawyering on behalf of Nuria, when Inés and Raquel show up and learn that falsifying official documents is a serious crime that could land Nuria in prison. Good! Lock her up and throw away the key!

Nuria’s cellmates make fun of her and pretend there’s a mouse by her feet just to watch the spoilt rich girl squirm. Inés tries to calm her daughter down a little but the time allocated for her visit is very brief.

Pau meets Flavio to tell him she didn’t use Karen to spy on him and get confidential information that would help her win the contest. He acts like a jerk at first, then he flat out denies he ever distrusted Karen. The little lady must’ve misunderstood him. He assures Pau that he could never distrust Karen because he luurves her with all his heart. He confesses that he has plans to propose on Karen’s birthday.

Leo meets with the crook that got the transcripts falsified. He instructs him to convince his contact at the university to pretend that he committed a mistake that led to him switching the transcripts. Acacia’s last name is Murillo and Nuria’s last name is Murat. This is a plausible explanation for what happened. It gets Nuria off the hook and it offers the university admin a very handsome financial reward that would offset any professional repercussions that might befall him. Deal? Deal!

The Gonz swaggers into Puerto Esperanza’s favorite jail and demands an explanation. Nuria swears she is innocent. The Gonz replies that he’s not an idiot. He doesn’t buy her blatant lies. Still, guilty or not, he vows he’ll get her out of jail! He points out that what happened must have consequences. The Gonz can’t trust Nuria anymore. She will no longer be his successor in the hotel consortium. “My decision is irrevocable! Your position at the Murat Hotels is over, forever! Sí me entiendes, ¿verdad?” DRINK!

The next day, at Casa Murat, Inés and Mica are talking about Nuria’s latest shenanigans. Mauricio runs in, looking delighted. He signs that he is very happy because of the baby. However, Inés and Mica think he’s talking about Nuria’s baby.

Nuria is out of jail. She, her dad and her husband are in the garden of Casa Murat, walking towards the house front door. The Gonz doesn’t know how Leonel managed to get the uni guy to assume full responsibility and he doesn’t want to know. What matters is that Leo got Nuria out scot-free. Nuria pleads with her father to give her her job back. Forget it! The Gonz walks ahead of them. Leo figures that, with Nuria out, he is the only trustworthy person that Gonzalo can rely on in the consortium. As Nuria stomps away in a huff, Leo seems to relish the thought. “Ha! “¡Qué rico es lo bonito! / How delicious is what’s lovely!” Gotta love this guy and his catchphrases!

Nuria, Leo and The Gonz walk into the living room just as Pau and Camilo announce that they are expecting a baby. Nuria is consumed by barely-contained envy.

At the clinic, the other speech therapist gives Dr. Bombón the shawl that Inés had forgotten earlier. Gastón takes a whiff of the cloth that once touched the skin of his beloved and starts talking to himself. “Inés, I would love to tell you how I feel but if I do it, I’ll scare you. I must be patient! But I don’t know if I can.”

Back at Casa Murat, as everyone congratulates the new parents, Nuria gives Pau the stink-eye. She accuses her little sister of copying her. I get married, you get married! I get pregnant, you get pregnant! “Yep, that’s right, I also copied you by stealing someone else’s transcript to pass it off as my own and graduate with honors!” Oh, snap! Nuria lashes at Pau and Camilo defends his wife. Nuria mocks him for being a poor substitute for Adrián, whom Pau hasn’t forgotten. Leonel pulls his wife away before she provokes more trouble.

Mónica goes looking for her mom at the guesthouse and learns that she has just left for the airport.

Back at Casa Murat, Inés and The Gonz are talking in the study. He apologizes for missing the divorce hearing. He pretends he forgot. Perhaps, on a subconscious level, he doesn’t want to be separated from Inés. She doesn’t buy what he’s peddling and she doesn’t tolerate his threats against Gastón. The Gonz says he knows that Gastón’s intentions vis-à-vis Inés are not honorable. He’s a man and he can tell. “El león cree que todos son de su condición / The lion thinks that everyone is like him (A thief always thinks that everybody is trying to steal from him)” scoffs Inés. In other words, not every man is a pile of disgusting vermin like you! The Gonz insists that he’s only looking out for her best interest. He doesn’t want this Gastón fella to take advantage of her loneliness and hurt her. “The only person who has hurt me here is YOU!” Inés gives The Gonz an ultimatum: “Fulfill the promise you made your daughters and me! Grant me the divorce or nothing will stop me from rebuilding my life however I see fit! Sí me entiendes, ¿verdad? ” DOUBLE DRINK! And a vat of aloe vera gel for The Gonz to soothe that burrrn!

Oh, what the heck, down another DRINK! TIME JUMP! It’s five months later!

At Karen’s boutique, Doormat Karen shows a heavily pregnant Pau her wedding dress. It’s a long-sleeved number from the early 1900s. Something frigid Mary Crawley from Downton Abbey would wear if they forced her to marry the stable boy. Pau is surprised. Didn’t her friend say she wanted a strapless poofy dress? Well, Flavio prefers this one! Then make him wear it! Pau worries that Karen is changing everything about her life, tastes and personality to accommodate Flavio. Doormat Karen reckons that’s what couples do. They compromise. She loves Flavio. He knew how to win her over and she’s not settling for him because she is afraid of loneliness or because her biological clock is ticking. Changing topics, Karen asks Pau about her life. Apparently, the BFFs haven’t seen each other in ages. They talk about Adrián. Pau doesn’t think he’ll attend the awards ceremony. Just as well. These months she has spent with Camilo have revived the love she once felt for him. It’s a different love from the one she had for Adrián, but she has plans and a family with Camilo and she doesn’t want to derail what she has been building with her husband all these months.

In Chetumal, The Gonz takes his kids to the construction site of his new hotel. René and Alan are eager to grow up and be the bosses of this place. They ask when they can travel to Puerto Esperanza to see their sister Pau and give her a present for her baby. The Gonz weasels his way out of this with more lies about having too much work.

Elisa has been MIA for the past 5 months. Mónica phones her auntie in the US to enquire about her mother’s whereabouts. She is genuinely worried about her mom. Auntie says she doesn’t know squat but she lies because Elisa is right there with her. Elisa is worried about Gonzalo’s reaction. That man is not to be messed with (de armas tomar)!

Nuria is shopping for the baby with Inés. She asks her mom to go shopping with Pau too in order to ensure that her sister doesn’t buy the same baby stuff as her. She adds that her son will be the heir of the hotel empire, unlike Pau’s daughter. Inés reminds her that her dad has two sons. Nuria is sure that “those bastards” will never run the consortium! Inés doesn’t want her to talk about her brothers like that and reminds her that her dad doesn’t trust her after the falsification stunt she pulled. Nuria maintains she didn’t do anything and Inés maintains that she doesn’t believe her one bit!

At Consorcio Murat, there’s a meeting about financing the new hotel in Playa Alta, The Murat Riviera Hotel. The shareholders’ percentages in the business have changed because Gonzalo’s money is tied up in his personal hotel in Chetumal. The Gonz has one month to put in his financial contribution or else the Fonsecas, Alfonso and Camilo, will have a majority share in The Murat Riviera Hotel.

In Playa Linda, Eulate Morales, the corrupt banker, intercepts Julieta right outside her house. It has taken him a long time to finally locate her. Giving her the documents that prove Gonzalo’s fraud caused him a great deal of trouble and he believes he deserves another “payment” for his trouble. Julieta assures him she’ll never sleep with him again, then she hits him with her handbag a few times to drum this fact into his thick perverted skull. She scurries away, leaving him on the ground. Odious Odette is lurking in the vicinity. She witnesses the exchange and rushes to help Eulate. He introduces himself. A match made in stalker heaven.

Hiya amigowz! Hope you're all well. Sorry I haven't been around much of late. I'm having some connectivity issues that will hopefully get sorted soon. Thanks to the recappers and faithful commenters for holding the fort. You are all greatly appreciated!

A lot happened in this episode. And many great scenes. And a time jump. We're getting into higher gear and I'm sure you're all enjoying it. For quite some time now, my personal favorite has been Leonel. He entertains me a great deal! Kudos to the actor for making this character pop! My favorite lioness is Inés, a perfect mix of vulnerability, generosity, noble character and courage. My swoon-worthy character is still Camilo. I can't help it! He is too adorable! And those eyes, my God, those eyes!

Enjoy the discussion! Take care and talk to you soon! :)

Nandicta- Thanks so much, amiga, for this fabulous recap! I hope the move went well and that you're fully installed in your new home.

I clapped when Ines shot back Gonzo's catchphrase at him-- Me intiendes, verdad? Why the hell is this divorce taking so damn long? Five months later and they're still married, and no one knows he's passing Monica off as his wife?

Hi Nandicta, good recap. The baby contest has begun. This is rediculous. Both these sisters are lyin their baby bellies off. Poor babies. They'll be born into a den lies. Thats
No way to start your life off. I don't know why
People find that lying better than the truth. Y
Didn't paulina just blert out the baby news when she had the chance? Now its one big lie After the other. Now she loves camillo. Will That last? Maybe. Not.

Nuria. Nothing.

"I know gastons intentions are not honorable towards you, Im a man, I can tell". Well he is "gonzo a clown"and he says funny things. This man is pathethic. What did he tell nuria "Im no an idiot"? Yeah he are. And he thinks hes smart. Hes just heapin anvils up to fall on his big fat lying head.

What could oddy be planning with oversexed bank guy?
Thanks Nandicta

Gracias, Nandicta, this was great stuff!

Both sisters pregnant with babies that don't belong to their husbands.... Gonzalo would have a coronary over that if he knew. It's Ines I feel the worst for since the divorce isn't final yet. If we get another time jump to the completion of Gonzalo's new hotel that might be the reveal about the fake marriage. Just what Monica doesn't need on top of Elisa stealing the money from the sale of the house. But wait a minute....

The public humiliation Monica would experience from that revelation could very well be turned into a jackpot from a lawsuit.

Loved watching Nuria in the jail cell, especially since both her parents have her number. And Leonel must be greedy as all get out to stay married to her without nookie.

UA: You want to bet Nuria doesn't last in prison much longer ?

If she eventually ends up there she will probably go completely over the edge.

O honey leo gettin nooky from somewhere. And nuria would be stupid not to realize that. Thats what she get for trapin somebody into a marriege (in her mind) thats worst than she
Is. Shes only a bank account to him. Yeah
She married somebody like dear ol dad. Serves her right. Stupid nuria.

I don't think Nuria cares about that. All she wants is to steal all of Gonzalo's assets when he hits his Karmageddon. She doesn't have the right to do this so she will get hers, too.

Nuria flipping out in jail was hilarious. Ms. Big and Bad absolutely crumbled in the cell! That was a joy to watch. I don't know how Leonel deals with her screeching - I'm watching her on television and I can barely handle it.

Despite that he's greedy and bad I actually pity Leonel sometimes. He knew he was being used in Nuria's game to inherit everything and was willing to reap the benefits, but I'm sure she is more histrionic than he bargained for. Not to mention the baby that isn't his.

Finally got to watch my recordings and saw that there was an episode yesterday, but no recap. Will we combine a discussion of the last two episodes in the next post?

For this series that might be a good idea. I've seen weeks where two episodes' recaps are posted within hours of each other.
