Vino el Amor 11/7/16 Chapter 10: I Want to Talk to You
- Luciana told Marta she would pack her bag immediately. Marta caught attitude and they had a disagreement.
- León and Carlos talked about their mala suerte with women. León told Carlos to be patient in his pursuit of Susan and Carlos speculated on his parents' divorce and divided family. León told him that the only thing his parents really disagreed on was Luciana's behavior. Finally, he said that none of this worked out in the end.
- In the wine cellar, Luciana talked with Miguel about what happened with Marta and how she wanted her out. They're not used to each other anymore and it could be better that way. He cheered her up with candy, as when they were children. They went into town and listened to music using one pair of earbuds, then go in and out of shops eating pastries, and – except for want of a kiss – acting like they were on a date. [There better be a nice girl out there for when Miguel loses this competition.]
- Marta and León did the dishes together and she explained that she would hurt if Luciana left but she saw no other solution in view of Lillian's escalating abuse. At the prospect of leaving the vineyard she was not optimistic, as she said their papers would not allow her to work anywhere else. [WTF???]
- Miguel and Luciana returned to the wine cellar and he implored her not to leave. He even said he' help her get work. As usual, she told him she needed to do that herself and he told her he would always be there for her. Finally, he gave her the kiss that belonged in the scene by the fountain. She didn't seem to have any objections.
- David was staring at Lisa's picture again, finally placing it in its place on its altar. Bobby knocked and entered, apologizing for bothering him and asking if they could talk. David smiled slightly and told him “Of course.” Bobby told him that Luciana was not the one responsible for breaking the glass on the photo. She took the blame so David wouldn't punish him. David looked very thoughtful.
- Luciana went into her family's bedroom to pack her bag. When she opened the closest door she found the word zorra written on the inside. She threw her folded jeans on the floor, slammed the door and – right on cue – Perla and Carito entered. They had clearly set her up. She opened the door, demanding who did this. Perla said “Who knows? In all the time I've been here I've never seen anything like that. Maybe because never, never did we have a slut among us.” Luciana charged her but Carito was prepared. “Why don't you get out of here? Leave the fights with your mother and brother. Get it? Nobody wants you here!” Luciana took a good look at both for a second, then stormed out. The two vitches high-fived each other and giggled like middle school brats.
- David told Bobby he was proud of him for his honesty and for defending an innocent person. Further that his mother would have been proud of him. Bobby answered that Luciana didn't do anything wrong and asked that David not make her leave. David promised to do what he could and apologized for having been so distant. He promised that things would be different from that moment on. They hugged as he also returned the ball.
- Luciana walked though the vineyard to the spot where she scattered her father's ashes. She knelt onto the earth and ran some through her fingers. She apologized to her father because she thought she was about to fail him. She feared she could not stay there.
- Lillian interrupted Fernanda's homework to spit poison in her ear about Luciana, referring to Luciana as a social climber [It takes one to know one] who would insinuate herself little by little into David's life. Fernanda wasn't ready to buy this until Lillian told her that David fired Luciana. “I'm telling you this because you have to watch out for Marta. Because if the daughter is like this, so is the mother. Just think about this and you'll see that Marta has to leave here.” Fernanda looked slightly confused.
- Later in the employees' building Marta told Luciana they needed to talk. The two little vitches waited eagerly but David entered, interrupting the show. “Luciana, I want to talk to you. Outside.” Ramón commented that it was odd for the boss to come to them and Perla made her usual catty remark. David apologized to Luciana over the broken frame and asked her to stay. She had changed her mind and felt she had no reason to stay. He reminded her of her love of the land and her desire to honor her father, but she countered with having no reasonable expectation of job security; at the slightest little mistake he'd want her out.
- Perla gloated over the expectation that David would send Luciana packing and how good it would be to be rid of such a slut. Marta told her she would have none of this trash-talking about her daughter “and besides, she is more decent than you.” “I have no doubt that a mother's love can't see things as they are,” Carito said. Ramón told Marta that envy makes people say and do such things. The three young men stayed out of this, hoping that David wasn't going to make Luciana and her family leave.
- David told Luciana to leave if she really wanted to. She told him she only tells things like they are. “You can't judge me if you don't know me,” he said. “You're right because the David I knew wasn't like this. My father never stopped talking about you. When you got the prize it really moved him. He was so happy he wanted to help you bring out this great wine.” David was surprised at this. “And now you have vinegar to clean the windows with. What's important to you? Why am I trying to wake you up?”
- “Of course she is assuming he will let her stay,” said Perla. “It's good our boss has her number. Let's go.” The vitches went upstairs while Ramón tried to get Marta to calm down and ignore them. He told her to look at Luciana not as a rebel but as one who knew her own mind. She needed to see that it was a good thing to have her back. She conceded that he was right and the three young men got anxious at what was happening on the porch.
- Luciana and David were still at it and it ended with no progress. Luciana was determined to leave, only asking permission to visit Marta, León, and Miguel. “Do what you want,” David said before he left.
- Lillian was getting nervous about the difference she sensed in David. She did not like having Luciana around. Sonia served her tea and speculated that many women would be interested in David, which caught Lillian's attention. “Who?” “I don't know,” Sonia answered, obviously thinking of herself. “Listen, Ma'am, you still haven't told me why you hate Marta so much.” This rattled Lillian, who spilled her tea. “Just do as I say, period,” she said as Sonia began cleaning up the spill. “I just want her out of here first thing in the morning.” “Yes, and Marta should be close behind her,” Sonia said. “She might still be here afterward. She's been here many years.”
- Luciana told the others about the conversation with David, telling them she will be leaving. Marta started protesting and Luciana didn't want to get into it. She went back outside and Miguel followed her. He tried to convince her that David was a good man who realized he had been wrong and wanted her to stay. “Give him the benefit of the doubt and let me be close to you.” She said she didn't want a boyfriend at that point but Miguel wouldn't give up. She finally got him to agree that they would be friends regardless of what happened.
- Susan and Luciana met for the first time. They talked about feeling like outsiders. Susan was not pleased that Luciana wasn't planning to stay, saying they could be great friends. She told her about the special wine, which had been named El Amor. That was because David saw wine as love and for the love of his lands. Upon hearing that Luciana had a relevant degree and that Marcos was Luciana's father Susan invited her to taste the wine.
- Perla went into Juan's office and began vitching about Luciana and didn't he get her message? He wasn't pleased with this interruption, having just gotten off the phone with someone about the proposed sale of the vineyards. However, she told him about what had happened the night before and got his attention and a kiss... before he asked her to leave his office.
- More conspiratorial talk between Juan and Lillian and more trash-talk talk about Luciana from her. [Will this ever end? Si, por supuesto, at Lillian's Karmageddon.]
- Luciana handled the wine like an expert, identifying the notes in it. She sounded very pleased with it. David was approaching and he heard every word. He asked if she was sure and she said she was. That the wine was almost perfect. David then tasted it. He agreed with Luciana that it was almost perfect. [If anyone caught the full deets on this I'd appreciate it.]
- Miguel sensed that possibly David will be pursuing Luciana. León scoffed at the idea, but Miguel, telling him not to let jealousy get the better of him.
- In Madrid, Graciela was sitting on her bed looking to apply cream to perfect her superficial beauty when Fernanda's call came in. After a few pleasantries Fernanda told her that David was heading back to work but she is concerned about Luciana's presence. It looked as though Graciela pretended their signal was getting weaker but Fernanda fell for that one and put her tablet down. She later texted Graciela saying she missed her. Graciela replied that she wasn't sure when she could be free to come.
- Luciana received two more entreaties to stay, first from Bobby and second from Marta, who apologized and told her that her place was there with her and León.
- Perla and Carito vitched and moaned as a prelude to some of their backstory. Carito had been abandoned at the vineyard when she was young when the cousin she came there with ran off with a young man. Perla had arrived with her parents and ended up being raised by a grandmother. She cut the trip down memory lane short because she didn't like thinking of those things, then actually told Carito that these experiences made them better than Luciana. [Both of them are losing so many IQ points per capitulo that they'll be in the minus by the end of the week.]
- Juan and Lillian laid in wait for David to interrogate him about Luciana and what had happened that night. People are talking, didn't he know. He didn't care and told them that nobody intervenes in his decisions. He then walked decisively away from them.
- Perla asked Carito if she heard from her mother and she said “Not yet.” There was talk about money and how Carito might leave to find a better life [fat chance] and the cousin she hadn't seen for a while. She feels alone and unloved. When Luciana came back Miguel ran to her. Perla told her she could get Miguel if she wanted to. [Uh oh.]
- Susan filled Miguel in on what happened earlier. David said the wine was ready for sale and she thought that this vintage could be a great success. She was sorry that Luciana wasn't staying. David was recovering and she was sure Luciana had a lot to do with that.
- Lillian went after David saying she was concerned that the children weren't showing proper respect for their mother and David cut her off at the knees. He didn't invite her opinion about his children and didn't want it. She went on about Luciana being a bad influence and shouldn't he also consider dismissing Marta but he wasn't having that either. “I've had it with your hatred of Marta. You are going to tell me this minute what the problem is between you that you hate her so much. Now, talk!” She stared, dumbfounded [with emphasis on the Dumb.]
- More trash-talk from the Vitches' Peanut Gallery and Sonia came in to admonish them to get back to work. Perla told her that David had been in the cellar with Luciana tasting the wine, which sent Sonia running off to rat them out to her boss, the Vitch Majora. Perla was amused at her own cleverness with this move. If it turned out that Luciana would be staying Lillian would have a major hissy fit and continue to make Luciana's life hell.
- David repeated himself but Luciana arrived to talk to him. Lillian tried to scold her for the usual excuse, implying that she was just as bad as her mother. Luciana sort of conceded that... then told David that she would stay on one condition: That he insist that Lillian stop being rude to Marta. “How do you dare this?” asked the Vitch Majora. “Here this now,” Luciana replied. “My mother is not alone and if you continue to show her such disrespect, I will know about it.”

“And now you have vinegar to clean the windows with"
I really don't like Marta at all, weaselly and weak willed. How convenient, she wants Luciana to leave but wants her to stay when David comes a calling.
Loved when Luciana declined Davids offer by saying he might flip and change his mind and fire her in a few days and David returned the favor next day when she wanted to stay and challenged her, she might flip and leave. Hmmm, they want commitment
Such a shame Perla and Carito are so bitter. I'm very sympathetic to their story and abandonment as children.
So glad Susan and Luciana got along and can be allies not another enemy. Hiring Susan was brilliant or the Vineyard would already be sold.
On the frosty side though are the real Zorras - Team Mean Girl and Liliana.
I'm glad Luciana met Susan. Having a friend is something Luciana needs to soften her a bit.
I'm so sad Miguel is going to get the short end of the stick here, because he's the far better (and much more age-appropriate) candidate.
Aw, poor Miguel. When someone says "we'll always be friends" that's almost the opposite of "someday I'll want to get into your pants."
Okay. Things are looking up. Last night was a big improvement, entertainment-wise; I'm bummed there's no episode tonight. I'm still wondering what it would be like to go through an episode without Marta crying, but at least David is beginning to chill out. That's a good step.
I couldn't care less about Carito and Perla's backstories, though. However sad their pasts may be, it has nothing to do with being a petty backbiting viper.
Some details on the wine tasting: a hint of raspberries and chocolate. I missed what she said about the finish. Maybe something about the wood. Of course, she said it was a well-balanced wine. It was just the sort of thing you read on wine bottle labels, but it made me want to taste it. (I don't know what variety/type of grapes are in it.)
"Graciela was sitting on her bed looking to apply cream to perfect her superficial beauty" and "[Both of them are losing so many IQ points per capitulo that they'll be in the minus by the end of the week]" were among many favorites.
"More conspiratorial talk between Juan and Lillian and more trash-talk talk about Luciana from her. [Will this ever end? Si, por supuesto, at Lillian's Karmageddon.]" Sigh. We can only hope.
"Perla gloated over the expectation that David would send Luciana packing and how good it would be to be rid of such a slut". I’m rather at a loss as to who Carito and Perla think they are that they can denigrate Marta’s daughter to her. They obviously have no respect for Marta. Sadly, they must have taken their cue from Lil’s venomous bile. tofie, I am annoyed at Marta, she is rather spineless.
And Julie, I have no sympathy for Perla or Carito. Tragedy can make you stronger, but it doesn't necessarily have to make you meaner.

It truly irritates me to see virtuous women labeled as sluts in these stories but I am equally angry that virginity is still at a premium. That is so outdated.
But right now, we're going to have to endure the Mean Girls Club scheming & plotting to destroy Luciana's family. Hell, Lillian could have Leon fired from his job for all we know.
Ditto on Perla and Carito. Can’t stand them. There are reasons for their insecurities, but lashing out at Luciana as soon as she arrived is idiocy. Perla should focus instead on Juan. Now that she’s been sleeping with him, she should try to get him to take their “relationship” out of the shadows (fat chance, but she should try).
León bugs me too. What fool crushes on a woman who he can see is trying to bully his own sister?
I keep expecting David’s buttons to pop off his supertight shirts. I’m not feeling David-Luciana chemistry, but a shirtless scene couldn’t hurt. I’m willing to be persuaded.
Graciela, please come back. These other villains are a bore.
I agree Niecie. I have a fondness for the actor who seems simply out of place here, cast as a bit player with little or nothing to do or be. Clearly of good heart and character, his liking the heinous little beyotch makes no sense. At least to me.

Ok, what I want to know is why it is that these mean girls are always dressed so nice? If they are working in a vineyard, wouldn't that mean that they would be wearing jeans and a shirt? Why are they always wearing dresses looking like they are going to work in a retail clothing store?
By lillian. Lucy would whip up on her mean arce. Now marta, she'll just cry and beg. Why
Wont she stand up to that witch? No job is worth that abuse. think lil is More afraid of her than she is of lil. Why does She hate her so much?. Heres a thought, what If...marta had a child loooooog time ago and That child was saaaaay lisa, she gave her up For adoption, the husband found her, brought her home, and he and brunhilda (lillian) Raised her, with hatred of course. I know this is a stretch, but whats the reason for the on going hatred? And that would explain the diffrence between lisa & graciela. Im with david, why does she hate marta. #why does she hate marta?
Perla and Carita. Dumb & dumber . The End.
They've already started the romance theme
Song for david and luciana. O yeah he is soo hooked.
Migeul is sweet, they need to find someone
Sweet for him cuz lucy & dav are slooooowly
Comin together.
Lil wants dav to stay hopped up on grief so she can do Her dirt with juan, who is slimmy. He and the Border patrol guy are cut from the same rag.
Thanks Urban.
I would rather see Luci with Miguel, the fun young dude, than with morose downer DAve.
That would just sit and watch his dead wife's photo for hours in a day for two years? Ignoring his children snappin at anyone that dared touch lisa's stuff, need some serious
Therapy. He and his kids could have had the
Grief therapy together. Instead he just let that
Poison mother inlaw of his rule in his house.
And he knew lil was hatin on marta, and just
Now he wants an explanation of why the hatred against marta. Which he wont get. We
Wont either, until...maybe after thanksgiving.
Nina, I agree, finally this show and David are starting to wake up.
