Vino el Amor 11/16/16 Chapter 15: To Sell or not to Sell, that is the question. Tis not Nobler to Suffer

Good evening, amigos! Tonight we welcome Cynthia Hampton to the Vino team. She will be covering Wednesdays for us from now on. Please give her a warm Caray welcome and enjoy her take on the action:

Luciana and Susana continue to talk and Luciana admits to liking David. Susan’s mouth just drops in surprise. They talk about Susan and Cesar, but Susan admits that she really doesn’t have much in common with him because they are so different. She likes doing active things and he’s not interested in the things she likes doing.

Later, Cesar comes over to ask Susan out while she is in the office working. He suggests a quiet dinner and she says she would love to go to a club and go dancing. Then Susan says she’s not really in the mood for going out since she has so much work to do. Maybe another time. Poor Cesar looks confused and rejected.
Miguel and Tano chat about what happened with Carito and the kiss and Miguel wonders if he should admit to Leon about what happened.
Carito cries to Perla that the plan didn’t work out and that Miguel rejected her. Then Leon comes and wants to know what is going on. Carito says it’s just girl talk. Then she asks Leon out hoping to make Miguel jealous.
Marta is in the kitchen making cookies when Lillian barges in and asks what she is doing. “Why I’m baking cookies” says Marta. Lillian goes on the rampage about how she doesn’t want her grandchildren to get fat and how Marta cooks in a greasy spoon style, just awful. RING!!! It’s Gutierrez on the phone! Lillian said, “I told you not to have anything to do with him!” She certainly wasn’t saved by that bell, but in comes David who wants to speak with Marta, alone! Lillian is like, “I know when I’m not wanted.” And then she exits. David asks Marta if she would stay with their family if they would move. Marta explains how much she adores all of them, but her decision is to stay with her family, where ever that may be, since she’s been reunited with Luciana. Luciana comes in and “Really Mom? I’m so happy!”
Fernanda is skyping with Aunt Grace and tells Grace that she has a crush on one of her father’s workers. Then Lillian barges in again and has a cow! Says Grace is a bad influence on her and now she plans to tell her father what’s going on. “Oh, please don’t tell Daddy!! The only ones who understand me are Marta and Grace. Please Grandma, don’t tell Daddy. I’ll do whatever you want.” Lillian says that if Grace cared or worried about her she wouldn’t be so far away!  Well, just her luck, Fernanda says Grace is planning on visiting as she promised. But PLEEEEESSSE don’t tell Daddy! Oh yes, Lillian says you love Marta and Grace more than me and now your showing me love. Ok, I won’t say anything right now. After Lillian leaves Sofia volunteers to be Fernanda’s confidant and tells Fernanda she can tell her anything. She goes on with a diatribe about being in love. Fernanda asks how she knows so much about being in love, is she in love with someone. No, Sofia says it’s those romantic novels, I can lend you some if you like.
David and Luciana are in his office going over some paperwork. David is showing her how bleak things look. Luciana says that they are very difficult, but not impossible! David asks why she has so much trust in him. She tells him how much it hurt her to see him the way he was when she returned. All this time she and her father planned to come back to this lovely vineyard and then she found it has all changed and he had changed. But now, he’s finally turning into the kind of guy that a gal can fall in love with. They end with “now all we have to do is find the money and save the vineyard.”
In comes Juan with the latest offer from the proposed buyer. David tells him he’s not so sure he really wants to sell right now not knowing exactly what happened to the wine and not being able to disclose that hidden fact. Juan gets upset (he’s way too eager to sell and David should see through this façade, but I guess he doesn’t) but David tells Juan that if he isn’t on board can’t agree and think like him, then he has no business being there working for him!
Next, Susan and Miguel come to speak with David. He asks them if they have figured out what happened with the wine, but they say they are still investigating. David asks if she has any idea who would do a thing like this and Susan takes a sly look over her shoulder (as Juan notices she looked at him) and says that they have an idea but are not entirely sure yet. David says when they discover what happened, that he wants to notify the police.
Lillian calls Grace and asks if she is really going to come out. (As they exchange such niceties, Grace calls Lillian “Mamita Linda” – lovely mother, or maybe mommy dearest) Yes, Grace says she is coming out because she wants to visit Fernanda. Lillian says, why don’t you just visit via computer, isn’t that good enough. You need to stay away. Grace says, “I’m going to do whatever the heck I desire to do!” Goodbye Mommy dearest.
Juan goes after Susan as she is leaving the house and angrily grabs her (man handles her) by the arm. “Listen to me. Don’t MESS with me! What are you doing insinuating that I had anything to do with this? I told you and Miguel I have nothing to do with the wine production.” Susan says I don’t know what you are worried about, but if that is true, then you should have no problem with Miguel and I continuing our investigation. Juan warns her with “cuidado” or something strange could happen to her. Susan gives him a glare and walks out.
Miguel and David are in the office going over some paperwork and a list of clients. David thanks Miguel for all his hard work. Miguel explains he just wants to see things through to the end and feels it’s his responsibility and wants to just correct things.
Lillian comes running into the living room to tell Juan that Grace is coming out and he needs to do something. Well what does she expect him to do? She can’t come and ruin all their plans, so he has to do something. Juan responds it will be just fine. She counters that this is SERIOUS and that we can lose everything.
Susan is walking outside the worker’s house with her cell phone and she’s upset and crying. Tano sees her and asks what’s wrong. She asks if he’s seen Luciana and he says he hasn’t but what can he do to help her. Susan says she’s just very tired and she just feels like running far away from there. Tano takes Susan in his arms to hug and comfort her as she cries. They sit down and start talking and Tano tells her that the problems going on are not her fault. She is smart, and she can get another job in the click of the fingers. Susan tells him that she loves her work and the other stuff just doesn’t matter. But why does he care? Well, it’s because of the person she is. The rest of everything doesn’t matter. But what about the doc? Have you seen him? Susan says that it’s probably better that he find someone else. Susan gets up to leave and thanks him for listening to her.
Later, Leon finds Tano and tells him he has a date with Carito. Tano tells him to relax so that they can get along well. Also Leon is a little worried about what his sister will think because she and Carito do not get along. (Ya think?) Tano says, when there is love, everything goes well. So what about Susan, says Leon. Tano says that she is no longer seeing the doctor and the two of them had a good talk. Leon says now this is Tano’s opportunity!
Now Juan is on the phone calling Gracie. He tells her he’s surprised with her stupidity regarding her coming to visit. “Don’t you remember the reason you left?” She says she had nothing to do with Lisa’s death. “I know why you don’t want me around. You just want to keep stealing from David.” Juan counters with the fact that the vineyard is going through a very hard time and the last thing David needs to find out is that Gracie is the one who murdered Lisa. “What are you talking about Juan?” He tells her to not come over there or else!
Miguel now approaches Luciana as she is working on a vineyard plant and says he has something he needs to tell her. He confesses the other night he was drunk and he kissed Carito. Luciana says, WHAT???? Well how did you end up kissing her? Mig tells her that he was drunk as a skunk and to please forgive him. How did this happen, did she come on to you or what. Or maybe it was poor, poor, innocent you and you did nothing! Mig says it just happened for a minute and he fully repents of what happened. He already told Carito that he doesn’t love her, that he loves Luciana instead. Luciana is so angry she doesn’t want to talk about it anymore because she’s going to end up saying something foolish that she is going to regret. She is going to talk with him later when she cools down.
Lillian comes to Juan’s office and asks if he called Gracie. Juan tells her that yes, he talked to her and she is no longer going to come visit. So how did he do that, Lillian asks. Well, Juan is not going to share all his secrets with Lillian, now is he? Lillian wants to know why he can’t confide in her, but Juan says if he shared his secrets with her, she would use them against him as he does not trust her.
Bobby is looking sad in the yard with his soccer ball and Luciana walks up. She asks him what’s wrong. Bobby tells her it is because they may have to leave because they are having very bad problems with the vineyard. Bobby says that maybe his dad can just fix everything, right? Luciana responds that maybe since Bobby is a champion, then his daddy has something like that too. Fernanda walks up using her grandmother’s style and says, “What are you doing with my brother?” Bobby says she (Luciana) is his friend! Fernanda says, she is a little bit too old to be your friend and why don’t you go into the house. Luciana tells Fernanda that she has no desire to argue with her. Fernanda threatens that her auntie is coming and that she will get what is coming to her. As Fernanda walks away, Luciana whispers to Bobby that the auntie must be worse than the grandma. Bobby says no, I think you will like her. (Poor child!)
David is back in his office talking on speakerphone with the potential buyer. We see Juan in the background. The buyer will not lower his offer. But David tells Juan he is not so sure about selling and he doesn’t have a good feeling about it. Juan gets anxious and asks him what he is waiting for, a miracle or what? Juan says miracles just don’t exist. Juan storms out. David glances at his computer, a new email has come in.
The worker family gathers for dinner and Miguel and Tano quietly discuss what happened with Luciana before they sit down. Miguel said he confessed but Luciana didn’t take it well at all. Marta asks where Luciana is and Leon said he saw her with Bobby. Then Perla pipes up that all Luciana wants to do is suck up to the boss so he can take her with him when he leaves. (No, I think Perla is confused. That is what SHE wants to do with Juan, but she projects this on Luciana). Marta stands up and gets mad and says she is not going to permit this kind of trash talk about her daughter. And who does Perla think she is? Some sort of white dove? Marta is so angry she’s about to leave and go tell David, but Leon stops her. An argument ensues and Leon asks Marta to calm down. Perla storms off. But Marta is not going to allow the mean girls to be so rude. Leon asks Carito to be kinder and to try to get along. Carito says she will speak with Luciana tomorrow.
Luciana is in the big house playing video games with Bobby. David yells out what is going on and why so much yelling? Bobby says he is having fun playing games. And David is smiling! But who comes to ruin the party but Lillian. She says what kind of scandal is going on, she can’t get any sleep and turns to Luciana and says, “Who do you think you are?” She takes the game controller from Luciana causing her to lose or forfeit the game. David defends Luciana and tells Lillian to not speak to Luciana that way. Finally Lillian storms off. Smiling, David joins them in playing the video game. The three of them are having a good time when Fernanda walks by and she sighs to herself. When auntie comes, this will no longer happen, she says. David tells Bobby it’s time for bed. Bobby tells his dad that he will no longer be able to play with Luciana if he sells. Luciana takes Bobby to bed and David sighs.
Next morning Tano is loading a pickup truck and Susan comes by. Tano says good morning and hope you are doing better! But the doc shows up at that same awkward moment. “Susan!” he says. I’ve been looking for you! But Tano takes Susan by the arm to go inside the building, leaving poor Doc Cesar in the dust. “Talk to you later,” says Susan. They are upstairs and Susan wants to know what is going on. Cesar has followed them up and approaches Susan and wants to talk. Cesar looks very confused. Susan says to Tano that she is going to speak with Cesar, but later will speak with him too. She doesn’t want Tano to think that she doesn’t care about the things he told her. Susan talks privately to Cesar, giving him the easy let down, saying they are two very different people on different paths. Cesar still wants to talk another time when things are more calmed down. Susan says there are just too many problems around to be able to talk because of David selling. What, says Cesar? Susan explains what she thinks happened and Cesar agrees that he thinks Juan is behind it all, but there is no proof. But as they are speaking, Juan walks up with, “Susan, don’t you have things to do?” Cesar says he is going to go talk with David.
David is at his office and in comes Luciana without knocking. She apologizes, but is bringing him some roses from Lisa’s rosebush. She brought him the roses so that he could place them over by Lisa’s photographs, because these were her roses, right? She explains that all the roses needed was some water and some affection, just like the vineyard needs to survive. No David says, the problems are even worse. There is no money to do anything and he must sell. Luciana says there must be another option. David says it’s very complicated and if he doesn’t sell things are just going to get a lot worse. Luciana says it hurts her to her soul. She feels so part of this land. Her father loved this land. David says her father was a great man. Luciana explains how much her father cared about David and for his birthday they bought him that belt buckle but she was saddened that he just left it in the box. She thought he didn’t care. But he tells her she’s wrong. He begins to explain he began to feel things after she arrived. Luciana changed his world and that’s the way it is!

Cynthia, thank you for that great, detailed recap.

Gee, does Liliana like anyone? what a toxic, unhappy person who seems to strive to make everyone in her orbit as unhappy as she is. Who else coukd make a mountain out of a cookie ! Yikes. I cannot believe that Marta has put up with Liliana's abuse all these years.

Poor Cesar has to up his game and take some dance lessons if he wants to have a chance with Susan.

WOW Cynthia, nice job. One would think you had been doing this for years, what an enjoyable read. Thank you a bunch, no, two bunches.

Thank you Cynthia for giving us this installment.

"leaving poor Doc Cesar in the dust"

I'm fine with Susan realizing she and Cesar are not a match romantically but the option is a teen who can't buy her a drink when they go dancing?

Thank You Cynthia, nice job, very thorough.

Susan/NancyGaga always goes for the fellow dripping with testosterone. BoyToy leaves a trail, Cesar, Alpo, Kibbles n Bits, whatever his name is, just doesn't have the pheromones.

Sorry 'bout your luck Doc. Seems everybody but you is getting some action, even MicroEugenio.

Good job Cynthia!

Tofie: I'm glad Marta went beast mode on the Mean Girls.

Leon & Carito dating: Not going to end well!

Anon: Fernanda (aka Aranza 2.0) still hostile towards Luciana for obvious reasons. I wouldn't be surprised if she has Leon fired from his job.

Susanlynn: Juan threatening Susan: This does NOT look good. I'm worried she might be joining Lisa & Marcos in the Big Sky.

Cynthia, sensational debut on this line. Thank you!

"Fernanda walks up using her grandmother’s style and says, “What are you doing with my brother?" and "(No, I think Perla is confused. That is what SHE wants to do with Juan, but she projects this on Luciana) (very insightful) were among many favorites.

Way too late but finally - "But Marta is not going to allow the mean girls to be so rude". It too far too long for her to put those vicious girls in their place. I did think though that Carito seemed somewhat chastised. Could there be some sort of redemption down the road? I also don't think she feels good about going out with Leon when she is totally not into him.

"Marta explains how much she adores all of them, but her decision is to stay with her family, where ever that may be, since she’s been reunited with Luciana. Luciana comes in and “Really Mom? I’m so happy!” How sad that her daughter is surprised and delighted that her mother would choose her own flesh and blood over David's children.

"David tells Juan that if he isn’t on board can’t agree and think like him, then he has no business being there working for him!" Stay with that instinct David. It will serve you well.

I thought Susan liked Cesar. Yup, add that fantasy to the growing list of things I have gotten wrong. So now there are 2 nice, unappreciated men being dismissed.

I hope Marta continues to chastise anyone who speaks ill of her daughter. I like her so much better now that she is developing a backbone.

I really like Gabe's portrayal of David.

Cynthia, thank you again! This was great.

Diana

I'm with Anita from her post yesterday about Luciana. She is normally expressive and you know where she is coming from until she goes poker face with Miguel and David. I cannot tell if she really likes David or really likes Miguel. Perhaps Irina Baeva hasn't figured out how to nuance confusion. Maybe it is nothing more than being bewildered by the heretofore unimagined. Not complaining much because I prefer this to googlyeyed passivity or aggressive stalking.

Cynthia! I'm so glad you're recapping this!! "Lillian is like, 'I know when I’m not wanted.'" Heh, no she doesn't or she would have left this story a long time ago!

I'm confused by Luciana's response to Miguel kissing Carito. If I were Luciana, not in love with my good friend Miguel, I would have laughed at his confession, not gotten angry. "Serves you right for drinking too much," I would tease, adding, "I hope she didn't give you rabies." Okay, maybe I'm not a very good friend, but he needs to understand that Luci is NOT into him that way. So what's up with Luci's response? If it confuses me, it will confuse Miguel too and make him think there's still hope that they'll be a couple.

Unless we're to believe that she's still considering Miguel even though she clearly can't get herself to think of him that way.

Tofie - "googlyeyed passivity" - you mean like the simpering way Marta looks at Gutierrez? Blecccch, yes, I'd prefer a poker face to that. I guess between the poker face and her angry reaction to Miguel's confession, we really are supposed to think that she's conflicted. But since I see zero hint of anything besides friendship in her interactions with Miguel, or maybe because we already know that she and David are supposed to be the couple, I can't buy the conflict. There is no romantic tension with Miguel, only the kind of tension you get from a lopsided relationship.

Or maybe I'm just stuck on the fact that she obviously liked it when David fell on top of her last week.

If you are jealous when your "friend " kisses another , perhaps you have more than friendly feelings towards your "friend." Friends sometimes become lovers when jealousy suddenly makes a person realize that feeling are more than just warm, cozy, and friendly. However, maybe the writers just want to set up the competition between the rich vineyard owner and the poor employee for the hand of the fair, young maiden. Or maybe we are supposed to believe that LUci is just miffed that her bff kissed the mean girl who is always harassing her at every turn. #queloque

Great work, Cynthia.

I'd like to believe that Luciana thinks Miguel can do so much better than Carito. I'm also in favor of Cesar stepping up his game, but we'll see. it's early enough in the story to introduce another female character to be his ladylove.

Julie: Yup...you girls do that sheet to us guys all the time, then act hurt when we say we "don't understand women". And no, Urban it was not a "Oh, what were you drinking, you can do so much better." reaction, it was a "You little turd, how did you slip your collar off?" reaction.

Great recap thank you Cynthia. I rarely get to comment because of my two other recap duties, but I really love this tn. GS and IB are so pretty together, and I personally don't mind the age difference of the characters, because Luciana comes across as a very old soul to me. I think she's very inexperienced with men and she's still trying to figure it all out. She knows that with Miguel he does't make her feel 'that' way. David on the other hand does but she's unsure if it's what she is supposed to feel. She won't know until David finally let's his guard down and shows her he cares about her or gives her that toe curling kiss. After that all bets are off.

Marta is too old to be grinning like a silly school girl around Gutierrez and Liliana needs to realize that an old bitter shrew like her, won't get any mans motor revving.

Poor Doc Cesar, he's a nice guy but perhaps just a bit too vanilla. It wouldn't hurt him to loosen up a bit. If a lady accepts a date with you and suggests a club to dance, you don't admit you have to left feet. You go and then offer to let her show you how to dance. At least then you've gotten a few points in with her and with any luck, you're cozying up on the dance floor. The Doc simply has no swagger.

Tano is so adorable.

Carito and Perla are obnoxious and I find myself wanting to ffwd them off my screen.

Cynthia--What a pleasure to read your debut recap. Especially true since my DVR didn't record it.

Did I misunderstand something? David is trying to SELL his vineyard to Oily Extra Virgin Olive Oil Guy. Why would OEVOOG have to come down on the price for David to accept? It seems to me, he would want David to lower his price. Ah, well, tn writers are not known for "Fact-Checking" too often.

Also, the workers are under the impression that the vineyard will remain a vineyard and so is David. If he knew what Juan and OEVOOG were planning, he'd scour the countryside for an alternative solution.

I still don't understand why a modern-day winery with so much money at risk doesn't either have night security guards or security cameras everywhere. Some things make me wish for a stronger beanie. OTOH, I'm loving seeing Juan believe it's not going to come back on him and he maintains his self-assurance and arrogance. Yes, his weak point is NOT Graciela or even Lilian, but Perla. He'd better treat her right. She's definitely a Mean One.

I have known at least two Lilians in my life, both related to me. It amazed me that out of those sour dispositions, their children grew up to have a more balanced, optimistic view of life. One of those children was my own mother.

NOTICE: LATIN GRAMMIES ARE TONIGHT. NO VINO. Well, I might drink a little Vino with my Silvana instead.

P.S. - I kinda like GS in his serious mode.

I'd let GS fall on top of me. Accidentally I mean.

Thanks, Cynthia. So glad you joined the recapping team! Your debut is terrific.

Maybe it is nothing more than being bewildered by the heretofore unimagined

Tofie, I vote Luciana is bewildered. She no sooner returned all grown up after not seeing Miguel for years to him bombarding her with being in love. We don't know anything about her social life in Mexico, whether she even had a social life beyond school, work, and being with her dad. Nobody’s calling her from Mexico. Maybe she’s never even had a boyfriend before. She's confused about the possibilities with Miguel and not ready to admit she’s head-over-heels in love with David."
The Doc simply has no swagger.

Delilah, ITA. Cesar blew it. When a guy is into a woman, he pulls out all the stops to get her. Cesar, going for the routine and afraid to break out, not sexy.

They've been doing a lot of closeups lately. Two things I've noticed. Teeth and beards. Luciana and Susan have perfect teeth and fabulous smiles. I wouldn't be surprised if they've done toothpaste commercials. Juan may be evil, but he's rocking his beard better than David. Juan's is trimmed and smooth. I guess David is too busy trying to save the vineyard to detail his beard.

I much prefer David's scruffy beard to Juan's neatly trimmed one. To me, nothing says "bad guy" like a neatly trimmed beard. Not sure why. It might have something to do with Evil Spock.

Julie--That takes us back some. Evil Spock--Mirror, Mirror. To think I saw the originals in black and white and when I saw them repeated in color, I thought they were episodes I hadn't seen. (This is besides the fact that I got home from night classes 15 min. after the episodes had started.)

Anita, I can just imagine walking in on "Mirror, Mirror" for the first time, 15 minutes late... how disorienting!

How did Irina Baeva, who was born in Russia, ever settle in Mexico?

I am guessing that she moved at an early age, since her Spanish accent seems impeccable.

Tofie..heh...then, you could say, " hey, it wasn't my fault. He fell on me." You might have troubke explaining that it took you a half hour to right yourself from the situation. #you'rewelcome

Diana: Let's see if Marta's backbone will result in putting Fernanda (aka Aranza 2.0) in her place for trashing Luciana!

Better yet: I want to see Marta & Graciela have a fight & see how that ends....

Good evening everyone, I just found this blog a few days ago, I love reading the recaps! Thank you for writing them.

Did Juan threaten Susan? My Spanish is far from perfect and I know the subtitles aren't always accurate, but from what I understood he said that she should be careful because she was the only person at the vineyard who knew about chemistry. I thought he was trying to imply that she could be the one they pointed the finger at because she would have known how to add the acid to the wine and what amounts to add since she was the one who knew the science....did I miss something?

'Juan may be evil, but he's rocking his beard better than David.' - I agree with this! :) I also find it weird that Juan's hair is graying and David's isn't, concerning Christian de la Campa is several years younger than GS. I wonder if they are intentionally putting gray in Christian's hair to make him look older.....he really isn't old enough to play this character.

It's an even bigger stretch for Kimberly playing Grace....Kimberly is like 24, Considering the time leap Grace must be late 30s at least???

Darcy I really paid attention when One grabbed Susan and I thought he was implying that she was smart enough about chemistry to figure out the perpetrator (him) and so she better be careful using her knowledge, as it could get her in trouble, as in being too smart for her own good. He left it semi-implied that it might be him, as she was asking why he was so concerned if he had nothing to do with it.

Toa

Darcy

Yes...Juan did threaten Susan...but I can't wait for that threat to come back to him. I too noticed the graying in Juan's beard...in contrast to no gray on David.

I didn't realize that Kimberly was so young. I enoyed her paring on Tierra de Reyes...I think her character and her novio where more interesting than the main couple.

UA, good recap. Sell the vine yard, don't sell
The vine yard. Make a fruit salad. Ok Im back Davis should sell and pay the bills and then

Can't win for loosing.

The mean girls.......I don't care.
I was hopin sue would give cesar a chance, but if shes not feelin it, it wont happen she's
Couguarin the young pup.

Ok Urban thanks

Thanks everyone for your comments and compliments on my recapping. I've only done it twice before (once for Hotel and once for 3X Ana) and I truly enjoy it. Also my thanks to Urban for uploading my recap for me until I get official access. I just got to read your comments a little while ago. I've been so busy with work the whole day.

I very much enjoy helping out with this novela as I am new to novela watching, since I just started this past January with Hotel. Vino is a very good story and I am very much enjoying Gabe Soto as David and I think the chemistry between him and Luciana is very good. I don't understand Susan and Tano because he does seem somewhat young for her. I don't know if he is supposed to be a teenager or someone in his early 20s like Miguel.

Lillian reminds me of the wicked stepmother from Snow White or Cinderella. If they ever make a Spanish version of Cinderella, they should use Azela Robinson for sure. She has the wicked part down pat. Grace makes a perfect wicked stepsister too. Sad part is that Grace is teaching Fernanda her wicked ways as well. They are a different sort of wicked from Lillian, but still wicked nonetheless.

I wonder how long it's going to be before Perla figures out that Juan is not what she thinks he is and that he is just a lying cad. I am wondering too, if she, before long, will stumble upon Juan's files that show he is up to no good. She may at that moment decide that she should do the right thing. Oh well, I can only dream that a "mean girl" will change.

Cynthia- Sorry to be late commenting. I was hoping to watch the episode first, but was.never able to. But no need, since your wonderful recap made it all so clear. I'm glad to hear you're going to be a regular recapper. :)

As for Tano's age-- remember when Marcos and Luci were deported and Marcos called the servants' house? Miguel was there and he was the oldest boy, who looked about 12. Leon was the next oldest boy and looked around 8. And then there was a very little boy who hugged Leon-- that boy was Carlos/Tano, and he looked about 4-5. So that's about the difference in ages between the young guys, and Tano is the youngest.

Yeah susan's a couguar. I feel no chemistry between her and carlo/tano. Maybe somethings in the works for her and cesar. He
Seems like such a sweet guy.

Does Susan realize that Tano is crushing on her? I thought she saw him only as a young friend/student.

I don't think that Susan is taking Tank seriously. Young boys crush on older women sometimes. Remember a pretty young teacher from your high school days? My sister is seven years older than I am, and when her friend became our physics teacher, I remember the teen boys in my class falling all over themselves over pretty MIss R. Tano is a walking basket of surging teen hormones and has fallen in puppy love with this new face in the vineyard . I think we will see him get over this crush and move on to some lass who is more age appropriate.

I finally am watching the Vino Episode #15--Boy those cherries on the kitchen table looked sweet and succulent.

As for Graciela--she always seems to have a bottle of wine nearby or a glass of wine in her hand. When she was talking to Fer and her mother, she was slurring her words a bit. Are we to suspect she's become an alcoholic?

I wonder when Marta will hear from Lilian who Gutierrez really is. Marta and Gutierrez will both be in for a surprise. I wonder if it will make any difference if she's really interested in him. I wonder if he will ever tell her that it was Lilian who asked him to target the whole family. (OTOH, why did Lilian wait 12 years to try to get rid of Marta so aggressively.)

The only reason I think David mourned Lisa for two years was to wait for everyone to reach an appropriate age.

Vivi--You have the on-screen ages of the boys correct. David and Cesar are contemporaries. Susan is presented as being older than Perla and Luciana. Perla and Luciana are about the same age. Fernanda was a toddler when Marcos and Luci were deported and Bobby wasn't born yet. He's the only one who should have aged and gotten taller in the two years after Lisa's death and didn't. That birthday party he had, wasn't he turning 9? He should be about 11 or 12 now, but doesn't look it.

Oh, and I wish Marta would tie her hair back while she works in the kitchen. Hair falls out all the time. I'd hate to be picking it out of my soup. Why is her hair that long anyway? TN rules?

Thanks Cynthia and especially thanks for starting this week! Great recap to kick it off!

I am not feeling Susan with any of her suitors at all. Hopefully a new guy will appear for her.

Niecie, I like your take on Luciana and Miguel's relationship.

Anita, funny you should mention Marta's hair. the length of Marta's hair was one of the very few clues we ever got that any time had passed (besides the diez anos despues). Nobody else's hair grew!

As for Susan - she's a seasoned professional, so certainly older than Miguel - but since we've already got David robbing the cradle with Luci, why not set up Miguel with Susan? After he drops his torch for Luci, I mean.

Julie..yeah.I could see Susan with Miguel when he finally accepts that Luci does not feel like he does....channeling Peter Frampton.."Do you..you..feel like I do?" LUCI : " No..no, I don't."

Que lastima.

It's funny talking about ages. I never thought anything of Susan and Tano's age difference until I started reading the blog. But I looked it up out of curiosity and the actor playing Tano is actually 30 years old.....he looks way younger than that!

So you have young actors playing characters much older than their current age (Juan and Grace) and then you throw in an very young looking actor playing a character MUCH younger than his current age. Interesting casting choices.
