Vino El Amor #14, November 15, 2016: Vino El Worrywarting (For Good Reasons in Some Cases)
- Repeated scenes: Sonia & Liliana plot against Marta; Sonia slimes all over another photo of David; Miguel raises money; Ramon worries about Marta; Gutierrez brings Marta home and sticks it to Liliana; Miguel goes back to David with his proposal to work with Luciana to save the vineyard.
- Miguel and David continue their discussion. David thinks that Miguel just wants to work with Luciana and reminds him that workplace relationships are prohibited. Miguel notes that David has changed since Luciana arrived and he thinks David is jealous of Miguel and Luciana. David won't argue with him on that. Miguel says he just wants to help, and doesn't want Luciana to be hurt, so once he helps David save the vineyard, he will go.
- Marta tells Bobby and Fernanda that the vineyard may have money troubles, but not to worry about it. Liliana overhears that and snipes at Marta, and then tells the kids that it does and they need to prepare for the worst. After all leave, Fer tries to reach Gracie.
- Ramon pesters Marta about where she was. She makes excuses and he nails down a date for next Sunday. Ramon next confesses his feelings of love to Marta. Marta's reaction is classic "she's just not that into you" but she tells him he's a good man and she promises to think it over.
- Miguel and Luciana visit David to give him all the money they raised from the vineyard workers. David is touched, but won't accept it. When they ask why, he explains that the workers send this money to their families at home and need it more. Also, as David had told Miguel, by ignoring the vineyard as long as David did, he caused problems that he must take responsibility for. Luciana blurts out, "by selling it?" Miguel is shocked and begs David not to sell and to keep the money the workers raised.
- Juan and Liliana vent at/to each other. Liliana wants that sale done so she can be rid of Marta. Juan picks up on the fact that this must be man-related. Oh yes. Liliana reveals that she hates Marta because her husband cheated on her with Marta!!! Juan laughs at this and says he understands where Liliana's husband was coming from, as putting up with Lil can be quite difficult. He adds that when the sale is done; they'll all be out of there and she won't have to worry about Marta anymore. Liliana intends to get revenge on Marta before that.
- David tells Miguel and Luciana that he will speak to the workers to thank them, but he won't accept the money. He indicates if he sells, he will ensure the buyer employs all of them, but he won't tell them about the sale or this contract provision yet, because it's not a done deal. Luciana encourages him to tell the workers about the sale, so they can prepare, and if he doesn't, she will. David tells her not to do that, and life does not always go the way you millennials want it to (he doesn't say that literally, but he is basically giving that talk). David tells Miguel he may stay with the vineyard, but he does not want them making out of place comments.
- Liliana rewarns Marta not to bother with Gutierrez and calls her a few names. Marta tells her she accepted the ride so as not to be too late getting back to work. Liliana insults her some more and Marta zings her by implying Liliana doesn't have what it takes to land a man. Liliana is MAD.
- Carito tells fellow I Hate Luciana Sooooo Much Club member Perla that Miguel kissed her, but by mistake. Perla says no one kisses anyone else by mistake. She encourages Carito not to give up on her dream of landing Miguel and to put on a happy face.
- Fernanda visits David to ask him what's going on with the vineyard. He tells her they might have to sell. She tells him that maybe it's not such a bad idea, as things have been bad since her mother died. He tells her they have a lot of debt, but selling will give them what they need to start a new life elsewhere.
- Perla and Carito talk about how Carito's cousin is going to come to the vineyard soon. She hopes there will be something here for him.
- Miguel and Luciana talk in the cellar. He can't believe she didn't clue him in beforehand about the possible sale. She replies that it was David's place to tell him. And maybe they can save the vineyard. Miguel says the only reason he will stay with the vineyard is for Luciana.
- Fernanda finally reaches Graciela in Madrid (who gives a really funny eye roll when she sees who is calling).
- Gracie is upset by Fer's news of the possible sale though. She calls her agent and tells him/her to speed up things in Europe and cancel some of her exhibitions so she can get back to California and take care of personal business.
- Susan comes up to Miguel and Luciana and asks how things went with David. Luciana tells her, badly. Luciana excuses herself (to go tell everyone about the possible sale). Susan asks Miguel how things are going with him and Luciana. He tells her he is worried that David is into Luciana.
- Luciana is in the vineyard, in her father's place. She speaks to him in the great beyond, telling him about the pending sale and how it is unfair to all who work in the vineyard. David comes up and tells her that he cares about the workers and he will talk to them. Luciana thought he loved the vineyard. Could he really do something else? David says while he could do other work, all he loves and is passionate about is at the vineyard. Luciana says they finally agree as her dad and family and the earth that she loves is there too. Miguel sees this and is super jealous as he should be, because David starts to move in for a kiss (see top screencap). Luciana backs away.
- As my notes put it, "breakfast chat with Perla" - the workers eat breakfast and discuss the impending sale. Perla is totally oblivious to the implications. FF>>
- After David leaves, Miguel storms up to Luciana and notes how close to each other she and David were when they were chatting. What is really going on? Luciana denies there's anything going on, but Miguel says it's obvious David feels something for her. Luciana is upset she and Miguel fight all the time. Miguel says David has changed since Luciana's arrival and he treats her differently. Luciana says that she and David share a love of the earth but that's it. Miguel calls her on that and says if that's all, let's ask David to relax the no workplace-romance rule, hmmm? When Luciana hesitates, Miguel says that she wouldn't have hesitated if she was sure about the two of them and he stomps off.
- Sonia is worried about her job in case staff cuts are made and has started lobbying the children. She asks Fer to put a good word for her with her father. Fer agrees and leaves for school. Sonia creepily plays with a photo of David and Fer and sighs that she doesn't want to be without "her David." She next takes the lobbying to no-longer-bratty Bobby and tells him she wants to be his friend and hopes she'll be the one retained after the job cuts are made. Bobby is solidly team Marta and after Marta tells Sonia to bug off, he sobs to Marta that things must be really bad.
- The workers have been convened for the meeting with David. He starts by telling them thank you for the money raised. He is still trying to find a viable solution to keep the vineyard. A worker asks about what will happen and that mean Juan basically answers, well, hey when we sell, we'll fire everyone and maybe the new owner will hire you! This stirs everyone up as you'd expect, or as the transcription put it, "bustle."
- Marta is serving the kids a meal and they ask her about what Sonia told them. Marta tells them to trust that their dad will solve the problems, but Liliana undermines her and tells the kids that they deserve to hear the truth. The vineyard is hurting for money and Liliana hopes the first one to go will be Marta. Bobby asks why, and Liliana says that they are getting too old for a nanny. Bobby gets bratty with the right person for once and tells Liliana that if they become poor and move into a small house, he hopes it's too small for Liliana and Sonia. (LOL, good job Bobby.) Fer asks if this is for real, could they lose everything? Liliana tells her that she hopes they don't but they must be prepared.
- David regains calm and starts to speak, but Miguel interrupts him to "tell the truth..." Which apparently turns out to be that the boss is doing his best, and won't leave us unprotected, so right now we need to focus on doing our jobs. Juan hints to David to tell them about the sale, but David just says Miguel is right, let's focus on the wine and we'll keep trying to find a solution. The meeting breaks up and David thanks Miguel for his support. Miguel says he did it for the workers, not David, and David better solve the problems.
- Bobby and Fer fret to Marta about the vineyard money troubles. David asks what is wrong, and Bobby tells him that Liliana told the kids that they were going to sell, move and fire Marta. Marta tells David that Liliana exaggerated and frightened the kids. David reassures the kids that no one is going to be in the street and Marta will stay with them. Marta tells David that indeed she will. David thanks her.
- Luciana praises Miguel for his remarks, but he's not impressed. He did what he had to do for the workers. Luciana says that together they will find the solution, but Miguel is not feeling the togetherness and snarks at her. Luciana takes offense and stomps off.
- Team Sell the Vineyard to Evil Olive Oil Guy are also not in sync. Juan whines that Miguel is a life ruiner. Liliana snipes that Miguel always was after Luciana. Juan says that operation sell the vineyard is still a go. Liliana says he needs to fix this situation and Juan says not to give him orders, he's on top of it. Liliana says obviously he's not, and Juan tells her to focus on Marta and the kids and let him handle the vineyard sale. Liliana tells him not to speak rudely to her like that. Juan backs down and tells her to trust him, as they've been evilly plotting together for years. Liliana is just anxious to take the money and run. Juan suggests she continue to focus on distracting David from their evil plans.
- David finds Luciana watering the rose garden. She tells him that she's still working on saving it. He's focused on the wine. She asks him not to be mad at Miguel for speaking. David asks her if there is something between Luciana and Miguel. Luciana asks him if he is asking her that question as a boss or as a man? David clarifies as a boss. Luciana tells him nothing is happening. David says good, because he doesn't like workplace relationships. Luciana says that really, he just plain doesn't like relationships. What if two employees want to get married, what gives then. David doesn't like the distractions that the relationships cause. Luciana asks what would happen if he became interested in someone working for the vineyard? David says that's not the case. If it was, he would pursue the person. Luciana tells him to let the other vineyard people do the same and be happy with whom they want to be. It's Luciana's turn to stand too close...
- Carito slobbers all over Miguel, praising him for his speech in the cellar. She asks him what he will do if they can't save the vineyard. If he has to go, she's going with him, and she pledges eternal devotion. Miguel once again nicely tells her she's a friend, but his heart is with someone else.
- Perla slobbers all over Juan, telling him that Miguel is an idiot and she's sorry he made Juan look bad. Perla asks him what if they do sell. Juan has control over their accounts. This sets Perla off. He calms her down and tells her not to worry, after the sale, he will send for her. Sure.
- Fernanda and Tano talk - he's concerned because she looks sad. Tano tells her he cares about her because they've known each other since childhood. She asks if there's nothing more than that. He launches into the "your dad is my boss" speech. She points out if dad sells the vineyard, she won't see him again. Tano tells Fer she was going to forget all of them when she went off to university. Fer says there's no way she'd forget Tano and gives him a peck on the cheek.
- Miguel and Tano chat in the cellar. Basically this is a Luciana doesn't love me anymore whine.
- David and Cesar have some wine and chat. Cesar thinks David is jealous of Miguel. David says he just doesn't like that Miguel and Luciana are always together. Nope, no jealousy here!
- Luciana confides in Susan about her conflicting feelings. She lists Miguel's many good points. But she's not feeling it. Susan finally gets it out of her ... Luciana is developing feelings for David!

Am I the only one who noticed some of Juan's facial expressions when Lillian went on about her husband fooling around with Marta? I don't think he believes it but he's smart enough to not say so. He may even know more about this than she thinks.
What could be interesting would be if David gave his workers shares of the profits from this vintage instead of paying back the loan in cash. That would really rile Lillian and Juan and possibly make trouble among other vintners. Not that we need another plot point now.
David needs to get rid of Lillian ASAP. This business of scaring the children is truly evil. I'm not one to think that children should be totally protected from hard truths but this situation isn't as dire as Lillian is painting it for them. If David sold the property there would be money to start over elsewhere although they might end up in an unfamiliar place. Hardly the end of the world.
Carito continues to debase herself and Perla continues to fool herself. These two deserve each other.
He is pretty shrewd and I think he and Graciela will be fairly formidable if they team up.
Diana
"Perla says no one kisses anyone else by mistake." LOL, I guess Perla hasn't seen a lot of telenovelas. According to TNs, that happens all the time.
Miguel has no valid reason to be mad at Luciana - she already said she didn't feel that way about him. Even if she and David had no chemistry at all, she still wouldn't like Miguel the way he would like her to. That's another TN cliche I could do without - people who don't take "no thank you" for an answer.
Urban, I love the idea of David giving vineyard shares to the workers. That would ruin Juan's day. And if they sold the vineyard, the workers would each get a piece of the proceeds.
"David tells her not to do that, and life does not always go the way you millennials want it to (he doesn't say that literally, but he is basically giving that talk)", "next takes the lobbying to no-longer-bratty Bobby" and "Team Sell the Vineyard to Evil Olive Oil Guy" were among many favorites.
"Marta's reaction is classic "she's just not that into you" but she tells him he's a good man and she promises to think it over." At least she was kind. It was so difficult to see that wishful look in his eyes - I don't blame Marta for not extinguishing the hope even though I doubt there is much of a chance.
"When Luciana hesitates, Miguel says that she wouldn't have hesitated if she was sure about the two of them and he stomps off". Miguel sees things with crystal clear clarity, doesn't he? Even at 20 paces, the mutual attraction between Luci and David id palpable. Unfortunately, there is not other character seemingly worthy of him at the moment. Hopefully, that will change.
I really hope the writers try to come up with more interesting and viable filler than Perla, Carito and yes, even Sonia (sorry Veronica). I hate to say it but I am looking forward to Graciela's return. I like a crafty villain, the mean girls are simply oxygen wasters.
dy, thank you again! This was terrific.

"Team Sell the Vineyard to Evil Olive Oil Guy are also not in sync. Juan whines that Miguel is a life ruiner"
UA, that's a good point, giving the workers an equity stake in the profits.
She did it again and I like it. David got in her personal space and Luciana responded later in kind.
At least Luciana got somebody to talk to.
Hope Susan continues to be a level headed professional and adult and doesn't start anything with Carlos the teen.
Saving Gracie to the rescue perhaps
That was a fine save Miguel pulled off for David, too bad they both dig the same earthy girl.
Carito's cousin, new guy crashing in, who's head will he turn?
Marta spoils those kids rotten. Placing their napkins & bibs is for toddlers.
Its obvious David likes Luciana romantically but even Luciana telling Susan she's beginning to feel something for David, can't tell. What in heck does that even mean? Perhaps it's been too long since I developed a crush.
I feel even worse for Ramon. Poor guy hasn't a clue. If he had seen her face light up and the bounce in her step yesterday he'd know why she disappeared on him.
Julie, I don't believe Gutierrez knows who Marta is. And you're right, Lili will certainly remind him (surprised she didn't do it already but she was really, really agitated so anger was uppermost in her mind when she saw he escorted her nemesis home).
Diana
He is in a perfect position to blackmail Lillian.
Tofie, I enjoyed your comments. They reminded me of your famous lists .
I think that Marta is flattered by the attentions of a man in uniform, but when LUci sees him and tells her mother that he was the guy responsible for deporting her father and her...well..sweet Ramon is going to look pretty good. I like good guys. They shouldnt finish last.
Marta perked up first time she laid eyes on Gutierrez before he paid any attention to her. She already wobbled on Luciana wanting her to leave second day she was there and doubt she'll even believe Luciana about Gutierrez. Or at least the severity of his treatment. Of course that's the last thing he wants and it's not because of Marta.
Grandkiddies. She want her money so she
Can leave. Is cesar a lawyer? Maybe he can
Check into juan's & lil's crooked dealings.
David was right when he owned up to lettin stuff Fall off the TWO years he was in the lisaland universe. If they hadn't been stealin there'd probably have some money to buy the grapes for table wine. They been stealin
For years sounds like, even before lisa's demise.
I like miguel. If he and david weren't in lus...
Love with the same chicky they could be best
Buds. Him, david & cesar. At least they'er honest about their feelings for lucy.
What is gutt really up to? Bringin marta home
And she seems to be into him, cuz that other
Guy has got the hots for her too.
Davis refered to the workers as millennials. He ani't bab lookin for an old geeser. Lucy is........what 15 years younger than he is? Any
Body know? And graciela Is way up there two. Shes not going let a younger woman take her man, after all she did murder her sis
So she could have him, cuz in her twisted mind "she" stole him. Sick bwitch.
That beanpole.......whats her name..sonya? I think, whats her job there besides annoying the help? See it must not be that important it.
I can't remember It. Or her name.
Ok. Thanks dy77
In the meantime, Marta might not be attracted to Juan...but Juan is the better man....of better character. I hope she sees that and gives him a chance.
The mean girls are so dense...they can't see the obvious. Juan has probably been using Perla as soon as he thought it was legal enuf...and how many times does Carla have to be told or see that Miguel is not into. I'm sure he presented his feelings long before Luci returned. And I don't want Luci's brother to end up with Carla...he deserves better than sloppy seconds. He seems like a nice guy. Unfortunately, the TN land....and we can predict who the final pairs will be.
Nette
I thought I remembered Juan also poking fun at Lilian's expense about pitying poor Fernando being hitched to a vitch like her. Gutierrez chosing Marta, even if it's just to pay attention to is going to twist her knickers even more. Marta is growing a teeny tiny little spine, but she can't go too far. At least David is in her corner.
I notice over an over that Luci has the same pacific look on her face whenever she looks at David. Of course she is supposed to begin seeing something in him she likes, but her face does not yet show it. She's been looking at Miguel the same way. Maybe the director wants us to think she hadn't made up her mind over David. I guess now she has, but she's not being honest with Miguel, saying there's nothing between them, because they are always fighting.
I hope Carito's cousin adds some spice to the works. And, with others, I would never have recognized Susan as Vainessa! Thanks, Vivi.
Julie--I agree with the others about Gutierrez not knowing that Marta is the wife of the man and child he got deported. OTOH, Lilian has made no bones about wanting to get rid of Marta forever to him and that she was sorry he hadn't caught the whole family the day he caught Marcos.
dy--"As my notes put it, "breakfast chat with Perla" - the workers eat breakfast and discuss the impending sale. Perla is totally oblivious to the implications. FF>>" Of course she wasn't paying attention and checking her smartphone at the table. She's pretty sure her future is assured and cares not a whit about anyone else.
I didn't even think that Gutierrez hasn't put two & two together (& neither did Luciana) - that will be an interesting confrontation!
