We return once again to Jonas giving a boring sermon to his tiny flock in Poncho’s house. Lots of alabados. Jonas is speaking of el maligno (the evil one) when Vicente comes cautiously down the stairs in his boxers with a bat over his shoulder. Poncho, never the sharpest knife in the drawer, had mixed up the days and told Vicente the coast would be clear. The “sheep” scream at the sight of him and huddle together.
Angie is at Jorge’s. She tells him that she won’t let her father meddle in her life.
Margarita and Juanito are talking in the bakery. She tells him how awful Trini is and then says ¡hablando del Rey de Roma y que se asoma! (Speak of the devil and she appears.) Trini, looking sheepish, says she’s come to see Don Benito because he doesn’t answer his phone. Margarita tells her that he doesn’t want to see her. She tells her to go home, back to the palace. [I really loved seeing Margarita throw Trini out of the bakery.]
Angie calls Esteban to take her home. She’s bringing Jorge with her.
Chivis shows up at Manuel’s house, hurt and angry. She tells him he’s been unfaithful, that he slept with Stella last night. She goes on to describe the picture Stella showed of she and Manuel spooning. Manuel is unusually slow on the uptake during this scene. He keeps talking about photo shop, apparently not grasping that the picture could be real.
Angie, Jorge and Lupita are in the Living Room of the mansion. The insufferable Trini rags on Angie for trying to provoke her father. AJ comes home and is quite aggressive toward Jorge, telling him to leave.
Manuel finally tells Chivis that Stella got into his bed without his realizing it. He says he’s a sound sleeper. She must have taken a photo that she’d use to separate them, like she’s always trying to do. Chivis: “How could she get into your bedroom in her baby doll PJ’s.? Did she climb over the balconies?” Manuel tells her that he has an explanation. He says that Stella broke down the wall that separates their bedrooms and then put up a curtain.
Angie tells her father that SHE invited Jorge. Voices are raised. Trini butts in. [I could just paste the sentence about Trini into every recap and save a few keystrokes.] Lupita starts crying, saying that Jorge is their friend. AJ yells at his youngest daughter to go to her room.
Manuel is trying to explain what Stella did to Chivis. She can’t believe it. [I can’t believe he didn’t board it up.] He then tells Chivis about how AJ came to rag on him about being involved with Chivis.
AJ accuses Angie of behaving like una forajida (an outlaw). [This is rich, coming from Fat Toad, whose picture was all over the papers for stealing money.] Jorge says that his family aren’t forajidos but good people. AJ calls him mocoso (snotnose) and orders him out. Angie has had it. She tells her father she’s leaving with Jorge. She tells him she’ll never forgive him this for the rest of her life.
AJ tells Trini that this whole thing is Chivis’ fault for getting mixed up with the fish seller.
Chivis tells Manuel that there’s too much pressure in her life right now. Before she leaves she says that she went back to her old house, and he stayed here. [This phrase makes no sense to me at all.] She tells him adios and he tries to tell her this word is much different from “bye”.
Trini rants on in the fingernails on a blackboard tone, saying that what happened with Chivis and Manuel was meaningless. Angie comes downstairs with a backpack containing some clothes. She tells her father she’s going back to the old vulgar neighborhood. If she can’t be in her house with her boyfriend, then she would rather not be there at all. He grabs her arm. Trini: “Let go of my granddaughter!” Angie looks daggers at her father. He yells at her not to disrespect him. Angie: “How can you speak of respect after you took off telling us absolutely nothing?” She storms out.
AJ tells Trini that Chivis is una suelta (loose woman). Trini loses it. She tells him she won’t permit him to speak that way about her daughter.
Back to the Old Three Stooges house. Jonas and Génesis tell Poncho that the wedding is THIS Saturday.
Vicente had brought Majo home. They’re kissing goodbye when Angie and Jorge march out. Majo tries to talk Angie out of leaving, but Vicente says it would be good to let Angie cool off and drives away with them.
Lucha asks her father for some of the money he’s put aside for her. She wants to go to Mexico. Wise as always, he advises her not to follow Andrés. He tells her that Andrés needs time alone. She realizes her father is right, but asks why he didn’t teach her how to suffer for love. He replies that that kind of suffering is something you live, not learn.
Dom tells Stella about seeing Chivis’ face when she came out of Manuel’s house. Stella is overjoyed she’s put the cat among the pigeons. She shows him the photo she took, unbeknownst to Manuel. Dom is shocked. [Really, Dom? How many outrageous things have you seen her do and you’re still shocked?]
AJ is yelling at Esteban about Majo going to the salsadromo when Majo comes inside. She says she was at a friend’s (feminine) house.
Trini calls Don Benito. This time he picks up. But he’s very short with her.
Majo tries to justify Angie to her father. She gives a little speech about how traumatized she was (no car) and living in this awful place. He listens for a while and then tells her that her mother was unfaithful to him.
Trini apologizes like crazy to Don Benito. She finally ends up telling him te quiero. His whole face lights up and he says he loves her too.
Stella tells Dom she’s planning another Stella #2 for this night as well. Poncho comes home and announces he’s getting married Saturday. Stella is her usual awful self. She tells him to take a bath Saturday so he won’t stink up the rented tux. She then hints that maybe the big hurry could be because Génesis is pregnant.
Stella goes upstairs to take a bath and is talking to Javito. When she mentions Génesis, the dog gives a happy bark.
Chivis comes home. The Fat Toad is on the sofa. Majo tells her that Angie left home.
Great recap, as always, novelera. I watched only the first half of the episode before switching the channel to watch the Washington Redskins lose to the Carolina Panthers. :-( You did a terrific job of recapping the half I saw, and you did such a good job with the second half that I may not have to watch it. And special thanks for including some Spanish words I didn't know, such as forajida.
Jorge is a nice guy, but I was really bothered by how fearful he was of AJ (I guess Angie's the one with cojones). Put that together with Jorge's relative inarticulateness and his apparent lack of interest in school, and I keep thinking Angie should keep her options open. Though perhaps I'm just saying that he's not my type [not to mention that I'm old enough to be his grandmother :-) ].
oh wow!
Saul calls Lopez with the news that the tenement suit is still on, Lopez's wife grabs the phone and hangs up.
Felipe is hauled off to the hospital, to be cared by a doctor AG knows, quietly.
Monica has asked Yesenia if she is her mother, nope, and Monica wonders what was so bad about her that her mother ditched her, Yesenia wants to help (what is her game exactly?).
morning
the detective calls Saul, it's been 48 hours and Miguel is officially missing.
Isabela asks where AG's bimbo's are to help her get ready, AG baits her on where she went last night , an amiga's (Raquel), and can see she is lying.
Braulio comes home to shower, Valeria checks out his clothes, finds blood on the sleeve, and wants to know more, later we see her with a black eye, he won't do it again.
Margarita is freaking and wants to leave, but they talk her into staying.
Leticia does her pr newscast playing up AG's project and why would anyone want to stall things over some some land, AG wanted Felipe mentioned more, people will figure out it was her, Saul has seen it too.
as AG arrives at her private entrance Saul calls her, she sends the others on ahead so she can talk, but Saul is right there, wants face to face, so AG gets out and lets the driver go to, she blames Felipe, they both say to the other, I thought you were different, and Saul let's it slip that he loves her, is AG touched behind that cold face, they kiss passionately, as Felipe arrives, all patched up and not in a good mood, and things go downhill from there, he grabs his guard's gun and shoots AG, except Saul stepped in front and caught the bullet, as shades of the rape and her boyfriend Cesar getting shot/killed trying to save her, cloud over her, AG breaks down, Rafael steps in and takes charge.
Monica and Lidya have arrived to sell sandwiches at the office building, but AG isn't there and no body knows anything, smart Monica knows there must be another entrance AG uses and goes looking, only to find Saul on the ground bleeding, she flips.
Rafael gets Felipe out of there, neither of us needs a scandal, tells all the newcomers it was a mugging, gets AG to leave, Matamoros and Braulio have come looking and escort her away, but first she gives Monica her card, keep me posted.
AG in her office has Matamoros and Braulio round up the security footage and delete the first part, Braulio as her lawyer demands an explanation, just do as I say.
Lopez calls Valeria, she is not coming in today, but... and one thing on her schedule is the release of an innocent man after 10 years in jail, what?
Rafael handles the cops and when they get nosy he pushes himself as the president of the television network and shuts them down, this guy is good.
at the hospital Monica is left in the hallway but sees her dad's doc (Mendoza?), and has him go into the surgery to find out what's up, (she has a way of touching people)
Monica calls AG with the not-so-good news, on the way he didn't stop bleeding, never woke up, he was so pale, AG is in tears and says he saved her life, Monica tells of him saving her life twice, no need for AG to come to the hospital, Monica will keep her up to date, trust me.
Monica tells Lidya what's up, who gets her bike/stuff back to the tenement, and runs into Yesenia, and spills, that it happened at AG's office gets her attention, they both head to the hospital.
Saul's family are already there, and upon hearing the story, Saul's dad is convinced Saul went there to confront her and they tried to kill him and starts shouting it to all.
AG and crew barge into Felipe's office, she slaps him, he... but was grabbed from behind, of course her guys are all witnesses as to what happened, and have a nice video for him, he spots that the scene of AG kissing Saul has been deleted, is his face imploding?
Monica's doc friend shows, the bullet is lodged in Saul's liver, this is risky and things aren't going very well.
novelera - Thank you for the recap! And the translations!
I was cheering on Margarita when she went postal on Trini. That might be the first decent thing Marga has done (and also perhaps a sign of her redemption beginning?)!
Trini ....... ugh. I just won't even go there.
Don Benito is an extremely kind man to forgive Trini. If he takes her back, though, (and no doubt he will) he gets what he deserves and I won't feel sorry for him.
The Fat Toad is like a snowball, gaining size and speed in his wrongs against his family, as he rolls downhill. The darker his Grecian Formula hair gets, the worse he becomes. AJ is THE Wizard of Oz --- narcissistic and trying to control everything.
True to character, Majo the coward is hiding her relationship with Vicente, lies of omission, making him park his van a block away, etc. Majo and AJ are cut from the same cloth. She's the Cowardly Lion in Wizard of Oz. She needs some courage. (Well, so does Chivis)
I'm still fuzzy on why Chivis didn't called her landlord about the hole Stella knocked in the wall. Isn't Chivis' name still on the lease? Maybe not, but I let a lot of this telenovela plot roll off my back. If Chivis is Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, let's hope she finds that Yellow Brick Road soon.
On what planet does a girl and her father set a wedding date for three days out and nobody consults the groom? Hel-lo? What if Poncho had a dental appointment, or was scheduled to work??? (I think my telenovela beanie hat is lost......)
doris, I loved your comment, esp. "The Fat Toad is like a snowball, gaining size and speed in this wrongs against his famly, as he rolls downhill." Wow! I also enjoyed the Wizard of Oz comparisons, but the line above is in a class by itself. I wish the novela writers were a quarter as talented.
deb, thanks in advance for your recap. I say "in advance" because I wasted last night watching the Washington Redskins make fools of themselves on Monday Night Football, so I haven't yet seen the episode. I'd like to see it before I read the recap, which I hope to do later today.
Thanks for the recap novelera! I am losing my patience to get to the end of this one...
La Fan will begin Tuesday, January 17 so we might be getting the full 120 episodes of Silvana after all.
Gracias for the recap, novelera, let alone the ongoing warm glow of your loathing for Trini and the DotU. Even though the show made a decided attempt to get Trini right by letting her declare that she does indeed love Benito--who really, desperately, needed to drag her more before they ever got to that point--she's at the stage where almost anything short of her getting hit by a car/bus/Poncho's scooter/bullet meant for Benito isn't going to cut it redemption-wise. She's been a raging rich bitch for far too long, and the relatively low-key (sane?) responses of everybody to that hasn't helped at all.
By the same token, though: Margarita's karma recycling started right before Benji fan-paged her, and her putting Trini on full blast here was very possibly the single best thing she's done in the entire show (even over the time she dragged Jorge for being a wimp about breaking up with her for Angie). She's on her way to a gentle redemption, and that's okay.
Jonas and Genesis moving up her wedding to Poncho and then telling him...is it just me or was that a not-so-subtle move to make them a little less likable so that when Poncho bails on her at the altar it's, well, okay? Or is it a feint due to Poncho's ongoing weird karma, and he indeed marries the hot religious girl? Weirdly, I think this is the story I'm most invested in now since Andres and Lucia (still) aren't really a thing.
And that leaves Antonio Jose, Douchebag of the Universe. Since even Trini called him a jerk in this episode I think it's safe to say he's now on his way to pissing off his entire family (with, perhaps inevitably, Maria "Daddy's little princess" Jose as the last holdout) by being even more of an "Everybody's wrong but me!" control freak than he was before. Which is saying something. The problem is that, even if it does make a certain sense, we're still being denied the one thing we've probably needed for a couple of weeks now--his wife, Chivis, finally going the hell off on him for everything. Angie doing it is good, and welcome, and someone doing it at all was downright necessary...but it's not Silvana doing it, and the wait for that single moment is doing no one any favors.
Bill C: I've mentally checked out of this train-wreck because Chivis is incompetent & the bad guys keep winning.
La Dona: Did AG's psycho associate punch his own wife in the face ?????
Steve, I doubt anybody could blame you at this point. For a show that nominally is still fairly lightly comic, the part of it that got serious--Antonio Jose's return and subsequent manipulations of everybody in his orbit--got damn serious damn quick, in a remarkably plausible and rational-for-the-most-part way (as much as this show drives me nuts, in a basic sense it's been a surprisingly grounded show) and the show's attempts to counterbalance it aren't working nearly as much as you'd probably think at first glance. And that's not even including Trini, which the show has sort of beaten us over the head with WRT her being a...self-absorbed...snob. (Stella is still a tertiary irritant, though she needs someone to go off on her almost as much as the DotU does just for her track record of crazy.)
Silvana, at least consistently (and frustratingly), has been the nice girl thrown into this massively whacked-out situation and trying to do the best thing for her daughters and after that her undeserving husband. The gag: it's reached a sort of critical mass, and her growth has stopped while we wait for her to take that last step...
When Trini was thinking back on how she introduced Benito as a gardener to her friends, did anyone else noticed that the maid looked a little annoyed with her for treating him like that?
Thanks, all, for the great comments. And, Bill, I loved "warm glow of my loathing for Trini and the DotU".
I am going to be thoroughly pissed if Manuel doesn't have SOME trick up his sleeve when Stella comes back for another late night visit.
Thank you novelera! I somewhat enjoyed this episode because it had Marg telling off Trini, and Angie telling off AJ. Loved both those scenes. Now, I just can't wait for Manuel to finally rip into Stella, and for Silvana to finally rip into AJ and kick him to the curb. I was rather disappointed in the Chivis-Manuel conversation. As stupid and naïve as he was about that open wall, it annoyed me more that Chivis flat out accused him of lying about it. When has she ever known Manuel to lie?
I haven't watched any episodes for a couple of weeks- just following along here. It is so slow & plodding yet also irritating. NOT qualities I look for in my entertainment!
I've been squicked out since very early on about the families getting together into various couples, including children who presumably will have to live under the same roof as de facto siblings once the parents get married. Angie and Jorge are 18 (?) so if their relationship is to continue in the natural way of Most young loves, there would be creeping around at night, etc! W E I R D And then if, again like most young loves, they break up, they'll be living in a family home basically as siblings? Yeah nope. Big fat AJ-sized nope.
Vivi, I also was majorly disappointed with Chivis/Manuel in their scene. I guess we telenovela watchers just have to resign ourselves to Telenovela Writers School Lesson 1A being: come up with a way to have the main love interests estranged for some predetermined amount of time to fool the (they think) not very bright viewers into thinking it's not going to work out for them. AS IF.
Jude- Yeah, Silvana, Manuel and the kids are making a family wreath, not a family tree! I also thought about the mischief horny step-siblings who are dating can get up to, while living in the same house. Just, no. Like I said before, Lucia and Andres are the least icky relationship in this whole thing. At least once they get together and have babies, they will be making a true family tree, not the wreath the rest of their family are weaving.
Viví in DC - yes, a family wreath indeed! If Vicente and MaJo get married and have kids,I guess that would entangle it even more. Their in-laws would be their step-parents.
Well, I finally got to watch the episode, and after that I read your recap, deb. I think you got it all. I was quite surprised at how quickly Felipe seems to have recovered from what had looked like a nasty wound. Another triumph for Telenovela Medicine. :-)
Like you, I'm wondering what Yesenia is up to in trying to get closer to Mónica. At the moment, I'm still taking her at her word: with Guillermo dead, she has no one, and Mónica is a lively and personable blood relative. I may find that I've been naive, but for now that's my story and I'm sticking to it. :-)
I won't be watching tonight's episode, since I'll be recapping Silvana, but I hope to catch up sometime tomorrow. I love it that the episodes are available on Telemundo's site the morning after they air.
Again, many thanks, deb, for all your wonderful recaps.
Saul's family is worried.
Diego comes home with Emiliano, he wants a project for school that Diego has, Diego stops to see what's up with his mother, she didn't go to work, wearing sunglasses she hides it all, he suspects his dad hit her, she kicks him out, and as he and Emiliano leave, Lopez arrives with some documents, always the trouble maker Emiliano sends him to her room, where she is crying on the bed in her robe with that black eye, he promises he didn't see anything and leaves, she asks who said he could leave, he thinks she is beautiful, they kiss, and she pulls down his pants and likes what she sees...
Regina talks to Isabela about her boyfriend, wants to take her to a gynecologist, but Isabela says she is being careful, she wont have a child that will never know their father like you did, and walks.
AG has everyone leave so she can talk to Felipe alone, she takes off her wedding ring after 5 years, the price for you trying to kill me is that now you are my employee, or jail.
Monica goes to the hospital chapel to pray, AG to the bat cave where Cesar and Saul blend into one, they both pray that he lives, AG wants him by her side, she needs him, Monica if her prayer is answered he will be the most important thing in my life.
the doc reports, surgery good, next few hours are the most important, no visitors.
AG arrives at the hospital with Regina, she bribes the nurse to see Saul, but Monica has already snuck in, lowers his mask and kisses him as the door opens, it's the doc, he explains for medical reasons, this isn't cool, she begs him not to tell anyone, he doesn't understand why she didn't tell him he was her boyfriend, he isn't, he doesn't no how I feel, Monica says.
AG comes in the room but the doc and Monica are gone.
Valeria and Lopez bask in the afterglow, well... he asks about her eye, she can't believe she did this with him, he compares her to a flower, she hates herself, was it revenge sex he asks, she wants him to leave, my husband loves me.
Miguel is slowly working off the cuffs, one hand is free as Braulio arrives.
Yesenia spots Regina at the hospital, knows AG is there, and they both play it cool, Yesenia says she's friends with some folks at the tenement and she came to help,
AG gets comfy with Saul, men have only come into her life to hurt her, but not you, was it to shake it up, make things change?
Monica talks to Lidya and Yesenia, admits to kissing Saul, she loves him, hugs Yesenia as Regina is watching from around the corner.
Felipe stops by the house and apologizes to Isabel, her and her mother are the only family he has now.
Saul awakes, what happened, he took a bullet meant for her, and does he remember saying that he loves her, AG asks, and he does, he will be the last man she will ever have, and things are warm and loving until he asks about Felipe, he wants to report him, no, no, AG warns he is powerful and will come against Saul's family, and if we do report him he promised to tell about us kissing, but for now what is important is that you get well.
Braulio shows Miguel pics of the Monkey, he points out a guy in uniform, Braulio wants more names, nope, Miguel wants to see AG, his hands are still free but hidden behind his back.
the news is out that Saul is awake, his parents go into see him, Monica realizes it happened after she kissed him, and she makes her call to AG, Yesenia tries to discourage her, and gives her the news, AG understands Monica needs money, come to the office tomorrow and we'll talk, I'll leave word.
Chivis returns home to find that Angie has left home. She's stunned: why did this happen? AJ tells her that Angie left because he told her Jorge couldn't come here. "I don't want my daughter going out with a Mr. Nobody." Chivis protests, and AJ dismisses her concern, telling her "Of course you don't agree with me, because Jorge, el tiburoncito, is the son of Manuel, el tiburón."
Meanwhile, Manuel is confronting Stella about The Photo. "What photo?" replies Stella. Manuel knows very well that she's putting him on, but he nonetheless explains that it's the one where the two of them seem to be sleeping in the same bed. "Oh, that one. It's called a selfie" (se dice un selfie), she tells him. She adds that he should be grateful that a woman as young and good-looking as she is is interested in him. Furious, he asks her how long she's going to continue to harass him (me acosar). "Until I've got you back" (Hasta que te recupere), she replies.
Chivis tells AJ that he should not be making decisions concerning the family by himself. She is the mother of their daughters. His arrogance growing by the minute, AJ asks why he should consult her. He is the jefe of the family. Moreover, he tells her, "You're in no condition to say what is good or bad for our daughters." He blames Angie's actions on Chivis and tells her that he insists on putting limits on his daughters' behavior. Chivis continues to stand up to him. "Angie is going to return to this house and see whomever she wishes." AJ is having none of this. "I am not going to permit you to ignore my role as father" (Yo no voy a permitir que me pases por encima mi rol de padre). He continues, "It's one thing not to be my wife, but it's quite another not to let me bring up my children as I want." Chivis announces that she is going to change all the locks tomorrow, and that AJ will not enter the house unless he rings the bell. [Someone should ring his bell.]
Stella is about to return to her side of the curtain, but Manuel stops her. He hands her his phone and insists that she call Chivis and tell her the truth about what happened. Stella calls, but she gets Chivis' answering machine. Manuel tells her to leave a message. She reluctantly does so, saying the photo was just a joke, and that Manuel was not to blame. He wasn't aware that he took the photo, because he was asleep. After making the call, she kisses Manuel against his will and returns through the curtain to her bedroom. The only thing Manuel does is straighten out the curtain. [Sigh]
Angie and Jorge are talking about the situation. Jorge says that her father is a dictator. Angie asks him not to say that. Her father may be wrong, but he's still her father, and it hurts her to hear Jorge speak of him that way. She says she hopes her father will reconsider his judgment of Jorge.
The redemption of Margarita continues. Don Benito asks her whether Trini had come to the bakery. Margarita hesitantly admits that she had, but says that she didn't want Trini to make Don Benito suffer. He replies that he doesn't like Margarita's hiding things. She rather movingly tells him, "You're the most important person in the world, at least for me. I don't want you to suffer."
On the patio, Jorge tells Angie that he's delighted that she's here with him in his house. She replies that she'd be delighted too under other circumstances, but at least being there assures her that he won't separate from her. He talks about how brave she is, and she tells him that it's because she's in love. The prolonged kiss that follows is interrupted goodnaturedly by Lucha, who asks them not to count their money in front of the poor.
The delusional Stella is sitting at the table with Dom and Poncho. Dom tells her he heard her arguing with Manuel. Poncho assumes that Manuel was angry about her having broken the wall. Stella claims that he was merely a bit surprised, and that they weren't arguing. She says she knows Manuel like the palm of her hand, and that he simply misses her kisses and can't admit that. Poncho tells her that he's worried about her. He's about to get married, he'll have children, he'll be happy, Dom will find a partner, and she'll be all alone. A worried look crosses Stella's face.
Jorge explains to Lucha that AJ has prohibited him from coming to the house and from being with Angie. Angie is angry with her father and has left home. Jorge has told her that she can stay at his house, and he asks Lucha whether Angie can stay in her room with her. Lucha agrees. Manuel joins them on the patio and asks whether there's a party. Jorge tells him that it's a more delicate matter: Angie has left home. Manuel is stunned. Jorge explains what AJ has said and done, and asks whether Angie can stay with them. He assures Manuel that Lucha has said Angie can share her room. Manuel replies that they're putting him in a very difficult situation. He doesn't want Chivis to be angry with him. Angie tells him she's sure that Chivis will support her decision and, with a very slight smile on her face, Angie assures Manuel that Chivis won't be upset with him.
Chivis, meanwhile, has a conversation with Trini. Trini expresses her fear that AJ will stop supporting them. Chivis tells her that he would never do that, simply because of pride (Antonio José no lo haría jamás, aunque fuera por orgullo). She also assures Trini that she's now working and if need be she can again support them. Trini calls Chivis a saint, and tells her that she has grown so much in the midst of adversity, and that she admires Chivis a lot. [Arrgh, apparently Trini's redemption, too, has begun.] Trini leaves the room, or seems to, and Chivis consults her phone and sees she has a message. She plays it, thinking she's alone. It's Stella's forced confession. Trini, who has been listening from the doorway, comes back, outraged that "that naca" knows how to use WhatsAp." Chivis berates her for listening to the conversation. Trini wants Chivis to tell her what's happening, but Chivis says no, she's going to go see Angie. Trini asks whether she can accompany Chivis and buy her bread.
Lucha mentions that AJ had come to the house that morning. Manuel doesn't want to talk about that. Angie asks him to tell her what happened. Manuel says it was a very disagreeable conversation, and that AJ was very desubicado, which can mean "confused," "disoriented," but here I prefer "out of place." Lucha says that AJ is jealous. Angie agrees, and adds that she also knows what her mother feels for Manuel. A slight smile appears on Manuel's serious face.
Just out of the shower, Vicente calls Majo. He tells her he has just washed the body that she loves so much. He refers to himself as "metrosexual." Majo laughs and tells him that the metrosexual is the most naco on earth. She forbids him to shave his eyebrows, wear white shoes without socks, and whatever other things. She then asks him how Angie is. He says she's fine, and asks how things are at her house. She says her parents are fighting, and she pities her father. Vicente asks why she pities him if he's wrong. Majo replies that he may be wrong, but he's nonetheless her father. Moreover, AJ confides in her, and she doesn't feel she can tell him about Vicente and her.
Vicente tells Majo she's going to have to be brave, but she replies that she's a coward, she's not like Angie. He pushes her: are you going to tell him, yes or no? She very hesitantly says yes, but adds that if AJ then behaves toward her the way he has toward Angie, she's not so sure that the two of them will be able to continue together (no estoy tan segura de que tú y yo podamos seguir juntos). She assures Vicente that she loves him. Just then, a maid comes in and announces that Majo has a visitor, Andrés. Vicente is upset. She tells him that she knows several people named Andrés, but Vicente doesn't buy her feeble lie. He admits to being very jealous. She tells him not to be such an alpha male. He apologizes but is still upset. She sends him kisses and tells him she'll talk to him the next day.
Poncho leaves the table to go talk to Manuel. Dom wants to know about what, and after trying to dodge the question, Poncho says he wants to ask Manuel to be his best man at the wedding. Dom is crushed. Poncho explains that he needs to have a best man with money (biyuyo) so he can have Génesis. Stella tells Poncho that what he did was ugly, and that Génesis' family is brainwashing him. She expresses pity for Dom.
Andrés tells Majo he has come to say goodbye, that he is going to Mexico to do humanitarian work in a poor community for two years. Majo is astounded. She thought he wanted to be a plastic surgeon. He tells her his priorities have changed. He admits that Lucha has made a difference in his thinking. Majo says, "I can't believe that insipid woman has made you her puppet." Andrés wisely asks why his decisions are affecting Majo so much. Majo replies that she never thought he'd make such a decision. He tells her that they lived in a bubble, and he wanted something to break the bubble and immerse him in the real world. He again tells her he just came to say goodbye. He assures her that she is an important person in his life. Majo says something similar about him, and she asks him to forgive the harm she has done him. Andrés tells her that if she wants to do something, she should so something for herself. Go back to school. Learn new things. Have goals and challenges. They hug.
Poncho tells Stella that because Dom is such a good friend, he thought Dom would understand. Stella says more nasty things about Génesis and tells Poncho that if he marries her he'll become a henpecked husband, a coward (mandilón, mandilón, mandilón, mandilón).
Angie sits on the couch at Jorge's with her eyes closed. He presents her with a gift: Givency earrings that he bought a while ago and has been saving for the right occasion. He tells her with admiration that she confronted her father, she left her house, it wasn't easy. She has made him realize how much he loves her. There's a knock at the door. Chivis has come to see Angie. Mother and daughter look at each other as the episode ends.
Deb: Valeria & Lopez getting freaky in the bedroom. I'm betting Braulio is going to punch her again. We've already seem him man-handle his own kid.
I'm also wondering what's Yesenia's motives & angle in terms getting close to Monica. Regina is getting very suspicious!
Juanita – Thank you for the recap! and the translations!
I see we are officially in Ultimas Semanas . Por fiiiin!
Finally, Chivis has a “Eureka!” moment and realizes she can change the locks on the house.
”Manuel says . . . that AJ was very desubicado, which can mean "confused," "disoriented," but here I prefer "out of place."”
FWIW, the English captions had him telling AJ that he was “ barking up the wrong tree.” I paid attention to this, switched the CCS to Spanish, just to see how it was said in Spanish because this morning the idiom “barking up the wrong tree” was discussed in my ESL tutoring session. My student couldn’t think of a Spanish equivalent idiom. Perhaps there isn’t one.
Why does Poncho need a best man with money, in order to have Genesis??? That one confuses me.
Nice product placement for Macy’s, with the earrings Jorge gave Angie. This is the second or third time we’ve seen Macy’s shopping bags in this telenovela.
doris, I have often been amused by what people have reported about the English captions. Frankly, I don't think "barking up the wrong tree" is an accurate way of describing AJ's behavior at Manuel's that morning. And the discussions I've seen of "barking up the wrong tree" never suggest "desubicado" as a translation. In this novela in particular, the word "desubicar" has been used several times, especially when criticizing someone for being out of place, not behaving in an appropriate manner. That's the way I took Manuel's use of it in describing AJ. Sometimes it's been used by a person of a higher social class scolding someone of a lower class in the sense of "remember who you are," "behave yourself." Sometimes it has been used simply to mean "confused."
I too am a bit confused about Poncho's feeling that he needed to have a wealthy best man. My assumption is that Poncho thinks having a wealthy best man will reflect well on him and impress Génesis' father, who may be having some doubts after the incident with Vicente and Majo in Stella's old house. Then again, I don't think it's worth delving too deeply into anything the Three Stooges say. :-)
I think we've been in Últimas semanas for more than a week. I'm surprised we haven't seen "Últimos capítulos" yet.
Wow, Juanita, what a terrific recap! You got it all, and with terrific translations of the idioms.
Yep, Trini is on her way to being tolerable. She finally thanked her daughter for all the sacrifices she made providing for the family (with the exception of the free food from Don Benito).
Stella is apparently going to remain delusional until the - at least for her – bitter end. I am up to here [envision my hand a foot above my head] with her sexually harassing Manuel. And I’m kind of fed up with him for not being more forceful in refusing her. Last night he did threaten her (and she called it a threat) of no more Mr. Nice Guy if she didn’t call Chivis and explain the “selfie”.
The whole Three Stooges thing has, in my opinion, spoiled this novela. The supposedly comic scenes between the three of them don’t work for me. I find them interminable, and I can’t bear the sound of Stella’s voice. I don’t care who Poncho ends up with. He’s a dunce. I was sort of rooting for Génesis just to spite Stella. But I’m sure he’s not going to marry the sweet one.
Juanita, I like your various definitions for desubicado. It is a word that can work in a lot of different ways. I think it’s most often used as kind of a put down. One character kind of says to another “get over yourself”.
I liked the scene with Andrés and Majo. These two are a couple in real life. He did need to explain what he was doing and say goodbye. And he removed some of her guilt.
I have a sense that Vicente isn’t happy with Majo right now. He wants her to tell her father the truth and for them to move on with their relationship. When she said something about encountering resistance from AJ and maybe needing to give him up, his face darkened. Maybe he’ll break up with her in a few days to add some suspense and to teach her a lesson about not being such a snob.
Great recap, deb. Many thanks. I've finally caught up. I enjoyed the oops-escapes from Saúl's hospital room, first Mónica's NOT being seen by AG but by the doctor, and then the doctor and Mónica somehow vanishing before AG arrives. I also enjoyed Valeria's exclamation "¡Lopezote!" upon viewing his, um, endowment.
I wonder whether Miguel has something in mind in demanding to see AG or whether he just thinks he stands a better chance of overpowering her than going up against Braulio. I guess we'll find out.
Thanks very much, novelera, for your kind words and the helpful feedback about desubicado. And I agree completely with just about everything you've said about the novela, esp. the Three Stooges. The Stooges have made me wary of watching another comedy. And definitely not The Fan! Fortunately, La Doña seems pretty engrossing, so I expect to continue watching that after Silvana ends.
Está desubicado --- could it also mean "you're out of line" in the figurative sense?
Telemundo's English CCs do have some liberal translations, I've noticed.
Juanita, I am also not planning to watch The Fan. I will be on board with La Doña once Silvana is over. But I'm way behind. Maybe extra days off for the holidays will give me some time to watch more of it.
Juanita- Thanks for such a wonderful recap.
I appreciated Majo being honest with Vicente and herself and calling herself a coward. I would be ticked off if I were Vicente when she said that if her dad opposes their relationship and treats her like he did Angie, she would end their relationship. Say what? How old are you?
It was nice to see how appreciative Jorge was of Angie and the way she stood up for him and their relationship. She continues to be the best character in this whole thing. The bravest, the most mature, the kindest, and the most honest. Jorge's alright, but Angie is way out of his league, and he knows it.
Really, Chivis needed a half-hearted message from STELLA before she would believe Manuel about the hole in the wall?! And why did he ask Stella to do that anyway? Why not just take a picture of the hole and send it to Chivis? These two are trying my patience.
Trini and Margarita suddenly on the path to redemption...MEH! OK. (*yawn*)
Deb- I continue to be so impressed by your pithy recaps.
Yeah, the near misses in the hospital room were a bit much. But I guess they can't yet have AG and Monica know that they're in love with the same man. Let them build a respect/liking for each other first, THEN hit them with the Saul competition. And once the rivalry is on, hit them with the fact that they are mother and daughter.
Funniest moment was by far when Valeria realized what Lopez is packing in his pants. Lopezote!
it's morning...
Isabel apologizes to her mother for what she said, and since Felipe is gone, she wants to get in touch with her dad, maybe they have other family, not a chance.
Lopez is off to work as his wife rides him for coming in late and gives him the grocery list.
Diego talks to his mom, it clicks with Valeria that maybe Braulio beats him too, he denies it, like you.
Braulio shows AG the man Miguel picked out, military, colonel, good reputation, Ag wants to be sure, wants to meet him, nope, he's on a mission.
Saul's dad is staying close to protect him from AG, Saul says it was a mugging, his mom kicks Jaime out, she wants the truth, Felipe is an influential man, if he finds out about you and her, was it him?
Marcos shows up at AG's house as she is off to work, she sends the others on alone, this won't take long, you are not the kind of man I want for Isabel, go away, but you were nice about us, Marcos says, yes but Isabel lied to me, she spent the night with you, right? she gives him a deal, she'll write him a blank check, or she'll give the money to others to plant drugs on him and send him and his family to jail, she leaves.
Valeria arrives at work, Lopez greets her, she blows on by, he wants to talk about last night, there is nothing worth remembering.
Monica and Lidya leave to sell sandwiches, Monica wants to stop by and see Saul, Gabino watches from afar. (ah, they haven't been coming to their old corner)
Regina shows up at Yesenia's, who was the girl you hugged, Ag's daughter ??, she looks like my papa, Yesenia isn't giving anything up because of AG, trust me Regina says, I didn't tell her about the money I gave you.
Monica sees Saul, she asks who did it, he remembers she wasn't there when he was shot and AG's warning about her being involved, he goes with the mugger story, can't remember much, Monica asks about other things he can't remember (like her kissing him)
Miguel gets his feet loose by the time Braulio and AG get there, he wants to talk to her alone, nope, she wants names, he brings up the one monkey, the innocent one who was forced to be there, his initiation, AG remembers, the youngest, he wasn't like the rest who were bloodthirsty and killed her parents, or drugged and killed her boyfriend, she sends Braulio out so they can be alone, and which one is this military guy, he killed Cesar.
Saul doesn't know what it is Monica wants him to remember, but they get around to this woman that he mentioned that he fell for, and Monica realizes it's not her, who is it, but Saul won't say, it's complicated, it's not that he doesn't trust her, but he doesn't want her involved, so her and Saul are 'amigos', more than that he says.
AG wants names, Miguel wants him and the young guy spared, the rape night has really come alive inside AG, she gets close to Miguel, to drive a knife into his leg, but he manages to ponce on her, he will rape her again and then kill her for sure this time (they left the young boy to kill her after the rape but instead he stabbed the mat she was on as she screamed)
and the bird appears, distracting Miguel, AG is on her feet, as they struggle, he gets impaled on a spike on on of the posts, and Braulio is back by her side, Miguel knows she won't kill him as long as he knows the other names, she pushes him driving the spike home, adios Miguel.
AG is off to the office for an alibi, this is her first kill Braulio mentions, he has done the rest, she warns him about the body, he is an important man, the police are looking for him, ah there is some caustic stuff at the stables, make it disappear.
Gabino has followed the girls to the hospital, he listens, and when someone mentions the police haven't even come, poof, and moves along to get Saul's statement, shooing everyone out, ah so it was a mugging, and asks Saul some personal questions, what the, Saul goes.
Lazaro doesn't like Monica around Saul, when AG goes after him she'll get hurt as well, Yesenia agrees and AG might discover she is her daughter, breaks out the Tarot cards.
how could I be so stupid, Monica tells Lidya who asks who the other woman is, he wouldn't say, complicated, Lidya's gears are turning, she's not from the tenement but someone he's around, like when he was shot,
AG!, Monica clicks.
Short version: Chivis breaks up with Manuel. Stella kisses Poncho. Trini kisses Don Benito. Margarita tries to contact her mother. Manuel tells his adult children about the breakup, while Stella and Pedrito eavesdrop. No AJ in this episode, thank goodness!
Long version: Chivis arrives at the Gallardos to tell Angie that she will always defend and support her. She knows how AJ is, and it’s their house, not his. Jorge will always be welcome there.
Poncho finally asks Dom to be his best man, and he accepts.
Angie decides to go home with her mother. Manuel comes in with dinner and Chivis asks if she can talk to him. Angie waits in the van, with Jorge keeping her company.
Stella is happy that Poncho asked Dom to be the best man. She tells him to get married and be happy. Poncho responds that even though he cares for Genesis, he wishes he were marrying Stella instead.
Chivis does believe that nothing happened with Stella, but… Manuel gets scared. He begs her not to say to him what he thinks she’s going to say next. Chivis hugs him with tears in her eyes. Her children need her and she has to break up with him.
Stella tries to convince herself that she wants Poncho to get married and that Manuel will come back to her, or maybe she will end up alone. She starts tearing up and Poncho says nice things to cheer her up, which leads to her kissing him.
Manuel doesn’t want to accept the breakup. Chivis is tired of lying to everyone, even though everyone already knows what’s going on, even AJ. Manuel says they should just stop hiding then. Chivis claims that the only way to deal with AJ right now is by being alone, otherwise he will constantly make her feel guilty for being with someone. If she hadn’t fallen in love with Manuel, she probably would have forgiven AJ and gone back to him since he’s the father of her children. Manuel protests that AJ is a manipulative authoritarian, but Chivis claims he wasn’t like that before. Manuel can’t believe how much Chivis is defending AJ. He asks if she’s thinking about going back to AJ now.
Stella is obviously affected by the kiss, but tries to play it off as no big deal. She was just caught up in the moment since Poncho was being so nice. She still claims to be in love with Manuel and only likes Poncho as a friend. Poncho tells her that Manuel will never take her back and she needs to move on.
Trini visits Don Benito. She wanted to see him and still feels bad about the way she treated him. She doesn’t deserve his friendship. Don Benito agrees - she deserves his love. Trini starts getting weepy and kisses him. Don Benito passes out and Trini runs around screaming for help. Margarita finally comes running in. Trini wants to call an ambulance but Margarita says her driver is outside. Trini finds it odd that he’s still there and sends Margarita out to get him.
Chivis doesn’t directly answer Manuel. She needs to get her life back on track and she needs to do it on her own. She returned to the world she belonged to and now she’s really confused. Manuel starts getting angry. How can she not see that AJ brought them back to their mansion just to manipulate her and the girls?
Esteban rushes in with Jorge and Angie to help Don Benito. Trini orders Esteban to find a doctor and he complains about having to do his job. Angie finally says she’ll go get her mother.
Chivis’ logic continues to make no sense to me. Something about how important the house is since the girls lived their entire lives there, and how her girls fell in love with his boys and they can’t lose that bond. Yet Chivis needs to be a separated and single woman right now. Manuel has had enough and tells her everything has a limit. If she wants to be alone, fine, then he’s leaving. He heads upstairs leaving Chivis alone in the living room.
Angie and Jorge rush in to get Chivis. Angie can tell that something is wrong, but Chivis says she’s fine and leaves with them. Manuel sits on the stairs alone.
Stella tells Poncho to forget about the kiss. He can’t though since he’s been in love with her since the first day he saw her. She reminds him that he’s marrying Genesis. He replies that if she asks him to not get married, then he won’t. Stella protests that she is not in love with him and repeats that she only cares for him as a friend. Poncho can tell that he means more to her than that. Luckily this neverending conversation is interrupted by Dom coming downstairs. Stella goes to bed and Dom knows that something is up.
Trini asks Esteban what he was doing waiting outside. He pretends that AJ only sent him to check on Angie. He leaves to find a paramedic. Margarita asks Don Benito if he wants some water. He asks for a little whiskey and Trini protests. It’s not good for him right now, but she will have a little. Margarita heads off to the kitchen. Don Benito keeps hugging Trini and holding her close. She keeps making excuses about being a decent woman and what will people think of her.
Poncho tells Dom about kissing Stella. He could tell that Stella really loves him just by the kiss alone. Dom reminds him that Stella is crazy and that he’s marrying Genesis, end of story.
The paramedic checks out Don Benito. Trini is really worried and wants to take him to the hospital and she will stay with him all night. The paramedic says it’s not necessary since his vitals are normal. Just have a doctor check him over the next day. Chivis tells Esteban he can leave since she’ll take Trini and Angie with her. Don Benito finally says it’s all because of the kiss Trini gave him.
Margarita is grossed out. Trini tries to claim that Don Benito was just hallucinating and she only gave him a friendly hug. Don Benito plays along and says a gentleman doesn’t have a memory. After the Villaseñors and Jorge leave, Don Benito looks happy and touches his lips while Margarita complains about Trini.
Back at the mansion, Chivis asks Majo if AJ left. Majo says he seemed really sad. Chivis doesn’t care. This is her house and he is not going to prohibit her daughters from seeing their boyfriends. She reassures Majo that AJ won’t interfere with her and Vicente. In fact, she’s going to change the locks on the door in the morning. Majo wonders if that’s a bit much.
Margarita tells Don Benito that she was so scared and didn’t know what to do that she almost called her mother. Don Benito reminds her that her mother abandoned her, most likely wouldn’t support her, and there’s no need to contact her. As soon as Don Benito goes upstairs, she gets out her computer, finds her mother online, and sends her a friend request.
Majo and Angie talk about how strange Chivis is acting. They can tell something big happened. Angie brings up telling AJ about Majo’s relationship with Vicente. She doesn’t dare do it. She’s too afraid. She tells Angie that Andrés came to see her.
Manuel looks at photos of him and Chivis and remembers what she said when she broke up with him. Vicente, Jorge, and Lucha all rush into his room and jump on the bed, asking what’s wrong. Pedrito eavesdrops from the hallway while Stella eavesdrops from her room. He tells them that he and Chivis were together but now they are not. It was her decision. Lucha says I told you so, but not in a condescending way. Jorge doesn’t understand why Chivis would support her daughters being with the Gallardo boys, yet she doesn’t want to be with Manuel. [We are all right there with you, Jorge.] Manuel says she’s going to take the advice of his smartest child (Lucha) and move on. Stella celebrates silently in her room.
Steve, saying chivis is incompetent is giving her little credit...I almost used curse words while watching her yesterday, I think Angie should have been the wife and chivis the child.....chivis basically telling Manuel that he was wasting his time waiting for her was just depressing and dumb
Olise
Many thanks, deb, for yet another superb recap. I was surprised to see that one of my predictions turn out to be correct, namely, that Miguel insisted he would only divulge more names to AG by herself because he thought he stood a better chance of overpowering her than overpowering Braulio. I think that may bring my correct prediction percentage up to perhaps 2%. :-)
Am I right in remembering that Regina offered Vesenia a substantial amount of money in return for info about Mónica? And didn't AG offer Mónica money at least in part as thanks for her loyalty in keeping AG informed about Saúl? I was surprised that Mónica didn't follow up on this. And now that she suspects that AG is the woman Saúl loves, will she follow up about the money?
Oh, Silvana. Throughout the show, she's always been focused more on being a good mother than her own happiness...it's one of the two things the show's been rabidly consistent about (the other being Poncho's love for Stella), and 90% of the time it's been a good thing. Last night's episode took it to a sort of weird extreme without quite connecting all the dots, though, and it was frustrating as hell. It might have been better if she had actually said more along the lines of "It's not about you and me, or about Antonio Jose and me--it's about me," let alone if this wasn't happening less than three weeks out from the end of the damn show. Put together, they make her look like a total mess.
As for Benito and Trini...I guess he had to faint at some point, and Margarita's "Old people making out, ew!" face was hilarious, but it's still the one thing the show's really speeding through right now, and I'm still at the "Eff that!" stage WRT it.
J, I'm impressed that you were able to deal so well with this amazingly stupid episode. Written all over it is "we have to string this out for three more weeks." I'm so glad you said "Chivis’ logic continues to make no sense to me." I too am totally mystified by her absurd non-reasoning. The nonsensical threads involving Stella and Trini were bad enough, but until now they were more or less balanced by the major thread, which featured believable people in somewhat believable situations. No longer! I can only hope that Telemundo's admirable tendency not to drag out stupid problems and misunderstandings for weeks on end will result in Chivis coming to her senses in a day or two.
As for Trini...Who would have thought that her absurd fainting spells might be contagious?
Trini now simply nauseates me. She's supposedly sorry for having treated Don Benito so contemptuously, and so what does she do? She accuses him of hallucinating.
As for Stella... FF>>
Juanita: I wouldn't be surprised if AG sends her henchmen after Monica & torturing her.
Looks like one of the rapists is a Colonel in the Mexican Army. Hmmm: wonder how high does this go ?
thanks Juanita!
yep, Regina said she has never bribed anyone but she has some money she saved.
and wow, isn't Aracely Arambula the best at bringing emotions to the table.
Gabino is an interesting character.
I wonder if Miguel actually gave them the right guy, although Braulio's research says he is, he was pretty tough taking a beating and not giving away that his hands were loose.
J - Thank you for the recap!
Last night, I identified two aspects of Trini that make her so intolerable to me:
1. Her behaviors and attitudes
2. Her VOICE! That high pitched falsetto of hers sounds like fingernails on chalkboard to me. Will someone please throw her in front of a bus? or a train? or an 18-wheeler? Telemundo could have done a better job of casting this role. ANY actress would have been better than this woman.
Chivis has been hit with the dumb stick. I can stand behind her just needing to be a single woman for a while, but she did not make that the strongest point in her argument of breaking up with Manuel. Oh well, lots of "romance fiction" , telenovelas included, have some sort of separation of the protagonists near 6the end, before they get back together for their HEA/FPS
--> The part of the show that got my attention - made me sit up and listen - was Margarita's desire to call her mother. IIRC, she has referenced her mom only once or twice so far, during this entire telenovela. Have we ever heard anything about her father? If not (and I cannot recall any mention thereof), now that we're in ultimas semanas, this is either a red herring or ...... something really important. They seemed to make a big enough deal about it, last night.
So, here is my Crackpot Theory™ :
Could Margarita's father be AJ the Fat Toad?
It would be great fun to see Margarita and Chivis' girls all realize they're related. Massively big "Eeeewww!" for all involved. Or, in the case of Majo, a big ole "Oh my God!" This sort of plot development should push Chivis over the edge and finally kick AJ to the curb.
Keep in mind that my theories never play out and my track record is 99.9% wrong. (LOL)
Come to think of it: nobody in the bakery posse has ever met the DotU in-show, right?
Since the show's obviously stalling for time at this point, finishing Margarita's redemption by throwing the blame on her parents--one of whom turns out to be the DotU--actually makes a certain wry sense. And since paternity reveals are the one thing nearly every novela ever made has in common, we're long overdue for one here...
Thanks so much, J, for a fine recap and for having to torture yourself by watching and then writing about Chivis’ stupid behavior. OK, I get that she’s Mother of the Year. But the explanations she made to Manuel were quite incoherent. Massive fail by the writers.
I did want to high five Manuel. He told her that his patience had reached its limit and quite coldly walked out of the room on her. He has self-respect. He’s done without anything more than kisses from the woman he’s crazy about. He put up with her having been highjacked and moved to the mansion. But this was the final straw for him. I expect an extended separation for these two. I don’t think he’ll seek her out any more. The next move, whenever it is, would have to come from Chivis.
Boy these supposedly funny scenes are tiresome! The Don Benito fainting after being kissed was just awful. And I agree that it’s absurd that Trini kisses him and then lies about it 5 minutes later. Doris, you’re right about the voice. It’s just awful.
Thanks, J, for putting in there that Margarita found her mother and asked to be friended. I don’t “do” social media. One of the most frustrating things recently for me has been watching TV, whether in Spanish or English and having them do plot development by putting up little balloons on the screen showing what was said to an unseen person. My TV is purposely not that big because it fits in a converted armoire that I love and use as an “entertainment center”. I can never see what people are texting other people. I thought Margarita found her mother’s email somehow. Anyway, I’m sure the mother is going to show up at some point.
When the family was in the duplex and AJ was sleeping in Trini's former bedroom, AJ came to the bakery a lot. He was making cell phone calls from there so that the family couldn't overhear his crooked deals.
He tried to get Don Benito to play the horses with him. And he had a conversation with Margarita. Don't remember what it was about.
In telenovelalandia, it is still possible that Don Benito does not know who Marga's actual father is, if her mother never told anyone (which is another telenovela trope). It's just a Crackpot Theory, to break up the boredom of this yawner of a story.
J- Thank you so much. Ditto your and everyone's frustration with Chivis' incoherent reasons for breaking up with Manuel. I also thought she hesitated too long before saying she's not getting back together with AJ. I can't believe she even said that if Manuel weren't in the picture, she WOULD have considered it. Seriously?!
Bill- In addition to what novelera said, Margarita was the first one to tell AJ that Majo and Vicente are an item, and that Majo went straight to Vicente after ditching Andres at the church.
I do hope that something happens to break Chivis out of this corner she's painted herself into. Is it religion, upbringing, or what, that's preventing her from filing the damn divorce papers and sitting the girls down for real to tell them she is NEVER, EVER getting back together with AJ. I couldn't believe thata Majo thought Chivis was being harsh by deciding to change the locks so that AJ can't just waltz in and out as he pleases. Not sure that will really solve anything, as he's paying the salary of all the servants who will surely let him in whenever he wants. Plus Majo, Lupita, and Trini, who welcome him with open arms, day or night.
Lupita seems to have recovered from the trauma of AJ switching her school. I couldn't believe how she was back to adoring the Fat Toad last night.
Mako is just such a spoiled coward.. clearly she has too much of AJ's and Trini's DNA in her. Pffffft! 😛
Bill C: the servants will easily snitch to AJ because they will tell him what Chivis is doing, etc.,
Anyone want to bet AJ sends henchmen after Manuel ?
Deb: Looking forward to the all-out vicious war between AG & Monica!
I'd like to know what is Yesenia's angle in all of this & Lazaro hiding these secrets. Do we know who Monica's biological father is ?
