Vino el Amor #43, Friday, December 30, 2016: DisGracie Successfully "fakes it" only with Luciana's help
Labels: vino
1.) I told y'all Juan & Co., cooking up a plot to destroy Luciana. Betting El Coyote kidnaps her.
2.) Graciela is on a roll. Telling FerBrat to FORGET about Tano (which she will).
3.) Susan going to be collateral damage sooner or later.
4.) Carito being chewed out by Juan & Perla not surprising.
5.) Glad that Leon & Sonia didn't last long!
Steve a while back Juan told Luci she was there on a tourist Visa but she needed to convert it to a work Visa, and promised to take care of her paper work. He did not, And Luci is now here illegally. I am sure he is just going to have her deported AGAIN. Seriously, I would not change countries to be with Marta. Sheetzo stay in Mexico this time, simplify things for everyone.
Little Carita redeemed herself by bringing food to the imports. Prob going to get herself killed over it, but it was a nice gesture. Where did she get all that food? 7-11? Or did she steal it from her employer's kitchen? There always looks to be mountains of food sitting out spoiling.
So Luci folded like a paper towel and did it for David. Screw him, let Gracie show David (with an important audience) how empty and useless she really is.
I am beginning to think Sonia is a plant from MADD. An ongoing Public Service Announcement (brainwashing) from the anti drinking nazis.
And to Steve and my other imaginary friends here Happy New Year Fam.
"a job well done"
I want to give a shout out to Miguel for talking some sense into Luciana this time, and though belated, provided the wine specifications. Despite Luciana bailing on David at the unveiling and attempt to punish Graciela this time, wine sales are strong, due in large part to Graciela's coordinated marketing and flawless delivery of the pitch. Who cares if she doesn't have dirt under her nails, she plays to her strength and is unwavering in her support of David and refuses to disappoint him.
Ramon is way too good a guy for Marta should she "settle" for him as she did Marcos.
As we have seem more of her she is not growing on me. Yeah, well, maybe she is, like an ingrown toenail.
tofie: Miguel was indeed kind of sane in this episode, and I'm blaming that on the plaid shirt he was wearing somehow draining his raging machismo.
Carito continuing to feed Juan's trafficked folks even after he blasted her for it was a genuinely nice touch for the gal on the edge of redeemability, but I couldn't help thinking: "You in danger, girl."
And I had previously coined the term So Obviously Gringo for the cops who came to arrest Poodle Tano (mainly our friend Mr. "The law has to be obeeeeyyyyyed!"), and I think it's going to now apply to all the extras who make our lives a little happier by effectively speaking with stock villain accents. Especially Tano's new "It's America, spic--speak English!" friend from this episode. As much as I want to appreciate Televisa branching out in this big way, even if we're not necessarily the target audience, the execution of it--in addition to the tangential silliness of a lot of the non-A-story stuff--for whatever reason is actually giving me flashbacks to the spectacularly gonzo El Talisman...if perhaps with slightly less Pretty, but better overall acting. (Mar Contreras may actually be the poster child for this, much to my surprise. My exposure to her was pretty low before this show, and it seems like she and Cynthia Klitbo are the two actresses getting to do the most with what they're given in different ways. After them, probably Veronica Jaspeado.)
That said: did anybody else notice that anvil whiz by in the background when Marta told Luciana never to believe anything Lilian ever said about her?
You're right: she's painted huge target on her back for feeding the illegal immigrants.
Kirby: WHEN Luciana gets deported back to Mexico & sold to El Coyote, I will NOT feel sorry for the uppity twit, who brought this on herself!
Almost every conversation with anybody has a pucker factor.
Wondering what El Coyote has in store for Luciana ?
It looks as though there is a beating heart inside Carito. I hope that it keeps on beating now that she has shown some human compassion and crossed Juan the weasel.
It is difficult to connect to a leading lady who does nothing but pout and shout. I think that even sweet Miguel is getting a little tired of it. ( unlike everyone else, I still would pick MIguel out of this herd of hombres..Or TAno after I take a scissors to those locks.).
Other than an occasional liplock, onlY the baddies are dancing in the sheets. Whatever happened to romance and a little PG frolicking by the good folks in telenovelas. No joy , no devotion since DisGracie broke up the love story between Sleepy Dave and Lisa up with that rock. What ice water flows through those veins to pursue Dave and try to charm the kids while holding that secret in her stone cold heart.
At least Gut did the right thing . perhaps he will be redeemed when he stops servicing Lilian. Bleecchhh. Just say no.
I just wish this series had the same quality of writing as the other two, and I don't mean from the recap writers of this blog.
The situation with Tano is ridiculous as is the constant near-meetings of Luciana and Brian. We all know she will recognize him on sight; he hasn't changed one bit since he deported her 14 years ago (The portrait must be protected by being locked in a vault). I will lose all sympathy for Susan if she finally caves to Caveman Mark's demands to get Tano out of that cell.
Carito definitely is developing a beating heart but she could easily end up as collateral damage in Juan and Mark's human trafficking scheme.
Sonia's refusal to go on a non-drinking date with Leon suggests that she either needs the booze to forget that he is nowhere in David's league and/or she has the potential to become an alcoholic, which means she should resign and get a new job. Except we need her to turn on Lillian eventually.
Susanlynn, to build on your observations about DisGracie, I have concluded that she isn't even human. To quote the immortal Bard, The devil hath power to assume a pleasing shape and so s/he does the dirty work in the form of DisGracie. ECDLP had devils in blue and red dresses last night and the one here was in a black dress that showed more than it should have.
Tofie, you are absolutely right, between Gracie and Luciana, Gracie is the one I'd hire. Susanlynn, you nailed why I don't warm to Luciana as a heroine at all. And out of the guys, Miguel is the best guy for sure, for me.
I am so not shocked that Gut got out of another sitch w/ almost meeting Luciana. It's coming sooner or later, but they'll drag it out for sure.
Carito: Bet y'all she ends up dead before Ultimos Capitulos.
Having said that she does require a bit of a Pygmalion job to develop the refinement she will need to be with David at the end of the series. I nominate Cesar to be her Henry Higgins. I think he realizes they belong together and wants to see his friend happy. Losing her temper at the guest list tampering was her version of Eliza Doolittle at Ascot (fortunately with fewer witnesses). She does need a little coaching. Not to mention a reminder about her visitor's visa.
I am hoping that TAno does not get killed to open the path for Nogame CEsar to get SOosan as a reward for listening to SLeepy Dave's endlessssss whining.....Geez, Dave , shut up. P.s. Markme calling Susan..SooSEE...Really ...Ick.
Ahhh, being assertive and hot tempered is not the same thing and Luciana is hot tempered. I understand she has a chip on her shoulder and something to prove but she has the tact of a bull moose. She has too high an opinion of her importance to the vineyard and without her father, mother and David's attention why would she be employed? Marta feels guilty, Miguel is in love and David blindly in lust.
Soo---San. I noticed last night when the LE Puke asked Mirror Hoe if he knew Luciana Munoz he said yeeaaahh. And it didn't look like fear of being caught so much as maybe remorse, and wondering what he can do with the impending mess.
Too bad about Sonia and Leon. I was hoping they might be able to have a thing, but it's obvious that she had other plans. Fortunately Leon has too much self-esteem to be David's stand-in.
I was glad to see Soo-san stand up to Ew-Mark. Someone should tell that guy about shampoo.
It was funny when Gut was talking to Marta and suddenly the roses appeared. Was he holding them behind his back the whole time? I hadn't noticed them. How can you hide such a big bunch of roses??
I think Joselo asked Grac to send him photos of the paintings in progress. LOL. I assume she didn't take her work with her; does he even know that she's on the road?
Kirby: "Do Marta 1.0 and Marta 2.0 (lillian) not get along because they are similar?" Interesting idea, but I don't think so. Marta doesn't blackmail people (like Lil's been blackmailing Juan) or try to control men with special favors (Gut's sheriff campaign). I think they don't get along because 1) Lillian is sure that Marta stole her husband and 2) Men generally seem to find Marta more appealing than Lillian 3) the grandchildren seem to find Marta more appealing than Lillian 4) Lillian is impossible to get along with.
Anita, I like your yesterday idea for the plot much better: David and Luciana sneaking around. I agree that it's nonsensical to let his kids get in the way of the relationship. For one thing, Bobby is already totally on board. For another, David is the grownup and they are the children. For them to see their father in a happy relationship would be a GOOD thing.
“DisGrace just gloats in her conniving ways” was my favorite line.
Carito. Color me surprised. “(This girl has more heart than I thought she did)”. I reluctantly agree. I still haven’t purged the memory of how vile she was to Luciana upon her return though. I see her with Leon at the end so suspect she will survive, and in a redeemed state.
“Miguel writes Luciana a love letter which she reads out loud. It says that where ever she goes, he’s with her no matter what”. Agreed. While he seems to (mostly) respect her time at work, he is omnipresent otherwise, even there when she rises in the morning before she can drink her juice.
“However, for some reason, Gutless does seem fixated on Marta”. Yes Susanlynn. He does, and I can’t for the life of me figure it out. I understand Ramon’s fascination with Marta as they have known each other for years. He has always cared for her but kept the secret close to his heart. Brian seemed smitten at first glance. The truth is that they have had a half dozen conversations and two or three interrupted “dates”. Perhaps he just recognizes goodness and does want to change. Many things can be forgiven, but tearing Marta’s family apart is not one of them. He may want to be a good man but some past actions cannot be erased.
I'm hoping the writers will come up with something creative for Sonia. She - and we, deserve it.
Thank you Cynthia.

Tofie...I am still waiting for one of your signature lists..Maybe in the new year !!!!
Oh..One more thing. I have discovered a very interesting show on PBS. Mercy Street which is about a Union mi!Itary hospital during the Civil WAr. My PBS station shows three reruns of season one every Wednesday from seven to ten pm. Before season two begins. I might also watch DOwntown ABbey which I never got into.
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL.
Lillian's British accent sometimes sounds a little confused, but I don't think that's so strange for someone who's been living away from home and immersed in another language for several years. Many years ago, I spent a week in Wales, and within days my pronunciation got a little weird. (It bounced back when I came home.) Also: growing up in New England, moving to Florida for 14 years, and then back to New England did a number on me. Everyone makes fun of how I say "insurance" now. (I say INsurance; everyone else around here says inSURance.)
(Note: While we were on vacation, I had the opportunity to see a lot of hairdos on young men--ones who obviously are old enough to go to a barber shop by themselves. There are all kinds of weird 'doos nowadays, including some trademark Tano mops.--So what do I know!!)
Another NOTE: I've fleshed out the "recap" for Thursday's episode with you dedicated commenters and added a few more of my own, including how little English Tano managed to use. ENJOY.
Karma going to strike Carito sooner or later!
Lillian's British accent: UGH! GO AWAY!
Haven't heard FerBrat's English yet.
Susanlynn, ITA on Tano and Susan. Susan seems to be content with being in love with her young tenderoni. If she doesn’t mind being his Professor Higgins, helping him pursue his education, and finding an adult haircut for him, I’m okay with it. After Mike, she wants somebody who’s simple and sincere.
Poor Tano jailed for talking G-rated smack just one time on the phone. And now everybody warns him not to do anything foolish while he’s in jail. Like he can do help it if thugs in there try to assault him.
I think we’ve thought way more about the characters’ motivations than the writers have, but I don’t see Gut as an evil guy. He’s been corrupted by ambition, but he didn’t get a kick out of deporting Luciana and her dad. IIRC the deportation was swift but not illegal. Plus, it seems his only reason for pursuing Marta is that he likes her (though I’m scratching my head “why Marta?” too). Leaving Marta alone is the safer route for him, but he doesn’t take it. A yearning for his Mexican roots?
On the English, Lillian’s is the only one that’s odd to me. I wish they’d just written in the story that she spent some early years in England. Everyone’s English diction is good, like the English-as-a-second-language folks who shame us mumbling, slang-ridden native English speakers.
Soosanlyn, you are one of the peeps whose comments take the words right out of my mouth, and with much more eloquence. Thanks for saying this:
Other than an occasional liplock, onlY the baddies are dancing in the sheets. Whatever happened to romance and a little PG frolicking by the good folks in telenovelas.
. . .dancing in the sheets. Sure wish I'd said that! :D
I'm always quoting Tofie and Kirby, you also often say what I'm thinking with much more. . .uh, earthy gusto! Glad I wasn't eating or drinking when I read the "porta potty" comment! Like to have busted a gasket!
Oh, my manners! Thank you Cynthia, very much!
Has anyone thought about Cesar (I can't get a girl to save my horrible life) & Sonia being a couple ?
I appreciate your engaging everyone and your ability to make us all part of the community.
I wish everyone a joyous, happy and healthy New Year...
Diana
Just watched this episode. I actually hope Juan does get Luciana deported, so David can finally wake up. Tough to watch David showering Graciela with compliments. I didn't see her doing anything on that trip that he couldn't have done perfectly well without her.
I have tonight's article on timer to post at 11PM but if these listings are wrong I will correct that and dy77 will have tomorrow night off.
