Vino el Amor-Episode #29 - Friday 12/9/2016: Confession is good for...nothing; neither is kissing a guy because you are trying to forget the other one
Perla has been waiting for Juan in his former, now current again, office. Squeeee! She’s excited he got his job back. Juan is feeling smugly triumphant (he quickly forgot it was through Grace’s, not his, efforts, that got his job back). He’s still pissed at her for telling David she’s in love with him. It only complicates matters. From now on, he states, everything is to be done his way, especially since David has assigned Susan and that imbecile Miguel to supervise him. He adds, somewhat dreamily, that he has a much bigger objective now and they can’t make any mistakes. Perla seems a little less certain now that she’s willing to do anything for him.
David storms into the big house, Grace a half a step behind him. She can tell something is amiss. He claims it’s just been a complicated day. He does thank her for helping him do the right thing in giving Juan his job back. She says she’s only demonstrating that she’s there for him, in business, family matters, and—fluttering her eyes—the personal. David seizes the opportunity to ask a favor of Grace. Anything, she says, still fluttering her eyes. He tells her she’s never to embrace him like that again. He doesn’t want anyone to get the wrong idea. He leaves her standing there, eyes unfluttered.
Several days and nights pass. We know this because there is a long sound track featuring one song and one voice showing Miguel and Luciana having fun in the sunny vineyards; Gracie offering a shirtless David (still swabbing decks) a glass of wine, which he rejects; Cesar boring Gracie on another date; Bobby getting bullied at school; Ramón bringing Marta breakfast on a tray; David deciding not to put on the belt that has Luci’s birthday buckle on it; and David and Luci giving each other long, piercing looks in the vineyard as he passes her to hand Juan a folder. It continues with Luci in the lab, tired and yawning, and the Energizer Bunny bringing her coffee and stealing a kiss; Carito and León talking amiably on the porch; and the rest of the recuperating employees spending time with each other. Over in the big house, David is spending quality couch time with Fer, Bobby and, wait for it, Juan. It looks to me as though they are snacking on Susan and Tano’s left over popcorn. (By the way, what have Lilian, Grace and Sonia been doing during this interim?)
Ah, there’s Lilian, knocking on David’s office door to take a moment of his time. David is at that moment reading, “A World Atlas of Wine,” in English and by his elbow is, “Living With Wine.” Lil uses her powers of persuasion (and begs a little compassion as Fer is beginning to get close to her for a change) to get him to lift Fer’s punishment, just a little, so she can invite a friend over. He succumbs with only a little resistance on two conditions. The visit must take place at the ranch and only for one hour. Lil leaves, pleased she hasn’t lost her touch.
Luci and Miguel are reminiscing about their childhood as they walk among the oak casks in the wine cellar. He’s laying it on thick as he tells her how he would come there while she was away just to feel close to her. He stops and turns toward her and says now that she’s back he doesn’t have to imagine her presence any more. He says destiny has brought them together for a reason. Luci’s response indicates she welcomes his attention. This only fuels Miguel’s fires. He moves in for a hot kiss. Luci returns the kiss with some heat of her own and Miguel is emboldened. He can’t stop. She doesn’t stop him. This impromptu make-out session is only lacking a desk for Miguel to take it a step further. Luci finally pulls away from him, laughing, saying they have to get back to work. He thanks her for making him the happiest of men. He steals a last kiss and after Luci walks away, he looks heavenward with rapture.
Fernanda is walking the halls of her school with Carol, her chum. She tells her she’s not sure when her punishment will be lifted. She borrows Carol’s cell phone and calls her abuela. For some reason Lil tells her she hasn’t approached David yet, he’s still very angry with her, but can all but guarantee Fer will get her visitor approved. Lilian smiles to herself and tells Fer she only wants her to be happy. This is enough for Fer. She tells her friend she’s trying to get permission for Peter, who likes her, to come out to the house. Although she knows he’s a nice guy, she only wants him out there to make Tano jealous. Her friend doesn’t understand why she doesn’t go ahead and be with Peter. Fer gets a dreamy look and explains, if Carol could only see Tano, she’d know what she means. She sees Peter and Fer invites him to the house, explaining why they can’t go anywhere else.
Apparently Luci and Miguel have finished “working” and have gone back to the lab where Miguel wants some more kissy-face. She gives it up happily. He whispers sweet nothings to her and goes for another one of those deep kisses. They are oblivious to everything around them until after the door opens. It’s Grace. She’s disgusted with them, canoodling on company time. They’re a couple of slackers and she doesn’t understand why David keeps them in such high regard. She’d love to fire them, but that would be David’s job. She’s going to tattle on them, even as Luci and Miguel protest that they both carry their weight at the vineyard and always complete their work.
Marta gets a call from Gutierrez. He wants to see her again, but not out at the ranch. He doesn’t want any more problems with Lilian. Marta agrees, but she wants their relationship, er, friendship to be open.
Luci is still fretting over Graciela walking in on them and causing problems for them with David. Miguel doesn’t think much will come of it and they won’t get fired because David knows they work hard. Luci just doesn’t want to give David any more reasons to be angry at them.
Grace follows through with her threat and tattles to David that she saw Luci and Miguel kissing on company time. David takes off immediately to give them a piece of his dimdumb mind.
Susan is frustrated with Tano. When he asks to come in her room, he complains she’s still mad at him and hasn’t talked to him for days. She says he can’t behave the way he did on the phone with Mark. Tano says he just couldn’t stand by and let him abuse her that way. She tells him he doesn’t understand how things work. Tano gets irked and flies off the handle. That is just what Susan was talking about. It’s the sort of thing that gets Mark all riled up and maybe it would be better if they just….break up. Tano can’t believe what he just heard. She’s breaking up with him because he defended her? It’s not that he defended her, but how. She tells him he just complicated things. He confesses he sometimes can’t control himself. Susan wonders whether he knows a different way to react. Tano then wants to know if her action is driven by the doctorcito or her ex? She calls him tonto. Her ex is someone older, mature (I couldn’t really make out if she was also saying something about the case being serious here.) Tano takes offense. He throws it in her face that maybe the lady needs someone more mature (and earns a slap for telling the truth). If so, was she just passing time with him? She can’t believe he said that. Tano quickly apologizes, but she asks him to vete (leave).
Miguel suggests a getaway to San Francisco. He wants Luci to feel loved, special. Luci says she does. Miguel leaves Luci to check on something (giving David the opportunity to find Luci alone). Luci is still fantasizing a trip to San Francisco when Dour David, the Grump [thank you Dy] walks in. Luciana, in her button-popping tight red shirt, turns to him, the smile gone.
D. The last time we spoke, you weren’t sincere with me.
L. Why do you say that?
D. You’ve been lying to me. Why didn’t you tell me you had feelings for “him?” Here I believed they were only feelings he had for you. Tell me, why didn’t you tell me you loved him (he used querer, folks, not amar).
L. I told you I was confused (about her feelings for David). After you told me your children were the most important thing in your life, I realized I was hanging onto something impossible.
D. And that’s why you’re with him?
L. No, I’m with him because I love him. [Again, the word querer and not amar. These two words often confound, especially in telenovelas because they will undoubtedly create misunderstandings. Both words can be applied to lovers as well as making distinctions in the level of feelings for someone else. Yet, it’s ok to both amar and querer your best friend or your mother.] Miguel has always supported me, has been honest and sincere and has been there for me. I deserve an opportunity to be happy—or not?
D. I’m not saying not. It’s just if you had told me all this before, everything would have been different.
L. No, it wouldn’t have changed a thing. You needed to be with your family and that leaves me with no place by your side, regardless of how much I feel for you.
D. What are you trying to say?
L. That it’s better to forget everything that has happened (between them).
She turns and leaves him.
Peter has arrived at the ranch house. He’s impressed. He’s greeted pleasantly by Lilian, even when Peter mistakes her for Marta—the one Fer is always talking about. Lilian, for her own sake, doesn’t take offense. David returns from his brush-off with Luci to find Peter with Fer. He greets him cordially, but takes his leave immediately. Fer asks Peter to accompany her to hand out cookies to the recovering employees before taking a stroll around the grounds.
The cookie hand-out goes well with Fer doing the honors. Tano takes his and with the introduction that Peter is her friend, Tano corrects her. He thought Peter was her steady boyfriend. Fer looks embarrassed by the comment, but Peter begins to glow. Susan arrives to stand next to Tano, who looks at her as though they were still a couple. She's introduced to Peter and says she's delighted to meet Fer's boyfriend. Peter corrects her, they're just starting to see each other. The teenagers leave.
Luci, also wanting to be by herself to sort out her feelings over what she has just done to David—and herself, runs into Bobby in the garden. His torn shirt sleeve is the only evidence of bullying, but Luci promises a sure cure to make the bigger boys leave him alone—but he can’t tell his father.
Grace loses no time in trying to find out whether David talked to Miguel and Luci. David says he did talk to Luci. Grace runs her mouth, painting the worst picture of Luci and her inappropriate behavior she can. She’s sure they both ought to be fired. David tells her that speaking up for Juan was one thing, but admonishes her not to interfere in his relations with the other workers. He diverts her question as to why Luci is so important to him, to include the whole family. Grace decides to drop her bombshell—doesn’t he think she’s not aware of what Luci really means to him? He stops her right there and says he doesn’t like the insinuation. Grace says she understands the bond because of Marta and Marcos, but David reminds her that it was Luci that helped him climb out of his depression. Grace keeps up the barrage. His family is here to help him and in the end Luciana is nothing but an employee. If she is such a good one, she shouldn’t be getting distracted from her work by a noviecito.
Grace then moves on to the next topic on her agenda. She wants to become a full partner in all aspects of the business—how much money will that take? She wants a percentage of the business. David is seriously entertaining the idea, though he tells her he has a lot of debt, obligations and still has to cut costs. She hadn’t thought of that aspect. She assumed that with more responsibility, come more rights. He’s sure things will get better if the Reserva wine is a success. Grace asks him to think about it.
Lil comes to Bobby’s room. She wants his help to support her idea of a special tribute to his mother on her birthday, sure that David will oppose it.
Night has fallen. Peter stayed for one very long hour and is getting ready to leave. He tries to get a full-frontal kiss from Fer, but she shies away from him. He’s taken aback. He thought it was ok now that they are going together. She stammers and says yes, but no, and pushes him out the door.
Marta gives León some motherly advice on fickle girlfriends. Forget Carito, she tells him, someone else will come along for him. Marta also receives a visit from Luci who tells her she and Miguel are “together.” Marta is sure she’ll be very happy. Marta notices Luci doesn’t look very happy with her decision.
Luci explains to her mother that she wants to take it slow. She doesn’t want her friendship with Miguel to be ruined if the relationship doesn’t work. Marta has no doubt of it working out. She counsels Luci that trust and friendship are the foundations of a good relationship. Why she and Luci’s father were the greatest of friends all those years, even when they had to be separated. Luci then asks the unaskable, did her father ever know the reason Lil, the Bruja, hated her? No, confesses Marta. She was sure Marcos would go crazy and they would lose their jobs. Luci, MISSING an important piece of information, supports her mother in the belief that all that was made up by Lil. She asks if anyone else, like David, knew about this. Marta says no and makes Luci promise not to tell David.
Multi-talented Grace has baked Bobby’s favorite cake for dessert (to demonstrate her solidarity with David and the kids). A smile spreads over Dour David. How nice to see it, but not really because now he is looking at Grace with different eyes. Lilian takes this opportunity to bring up the tribute to Lisa she wants to have, nothing big, here at the ranch. It’s important to her that Lisa’s memory is kept alive. The children chime in and break down David’s resistance. Grace smells a spoiled rat in the stew. She tries to put the kibosh on this “Remembering Lisa” project of her mother’s, but David approves. Grace shoots eye daggers at Lil. Score 1 for Lil, but 1 also for Grace in the fight for David’s wealth and prestige, where one of them wants to triumph by his side and the other wants to ruin him financially.
Grace follows Lil into her room to find out what that “Remembering Lisa” plan was all about. She’s not pleased with the turn of events. Lilian convinces her it will help Grace reach her objective to separate Luciana from David. And when she is, Grace will be there to fill the void. Lil hates Luci’s guts as much as she hates her mother’s. Grace notes that in Lil’s case, there was no competition, but if Lil has any intention of betraying her, she’ll forget Lilian was ever her mother.
Fer arrives at school the next day to learn she’s the talk of the social media. Peter has posted a video that he and Fer are going together. They are trending. Fer is mortified. She tells Carol it was Tano that outted her little white lie. Carol suggests she take advantage of the situation and go for Peter, he is to die for. Peter arrives on cue and gives Fer a big hug. He’s planning on coming over after school—he reminds her they still have something left undone—wink, wink.
Grace is on her cell demanding more money from someone named José (he must be in Madrid and her unofficial “loan” agent). She’s wearing a lacy, see-through light green, which later turns blue, top. (Is this the new Ramerawear™?) Apparently his answer is not pleasing to her as she does a half-hearted attempt at a Sergio Sendel phone throw.
Grace comes to Juan’s office complaining about Mumsie doing things behind her back. Ok, he’ll talk to her. In fact he is prepared to put in a good word with David about Grace. He confesses he’s having a hard time faking his feelings for David after reconciling their differences to become friends again. Grace tells him to suck it up, but one thing had better be clear, she’ll help Juan recover the lands he covets, but he’d better not harm a hair on David’s head—that she will not allow.
The ladies are in the dining area early for work and are having coffee when the men arrive. Miguel immediately goes to Luci’s side to greet her with a big smile and a kiss on the lips. León watches Carito as her face falls in hurt and disbelief. She races upstairs to cry and Perla follows. Tano tells a surprised León that he’s told him to find another girl. Right back at ‘ya, says León, as Susan descends the stairs and ignores Tano completely.
They all get ready to go out the door to work, Miguel smiling broadly at his conquest and leaving Luci with a kiss he makes sure everyone sees. (Doesn't Team Miguel think he's just trying too hard to mark his territory?) Luci looks at Susan and Susan looks back—they have to talk! Susan thinks she was mistaken to be going out with Tano.
Carito is inconsolable. She sobs as she declares she’s lost Miguel forever. Perla says it's really no big thing. Even if they get married, they can always get divorced. Perla will help Carito get rid of Luci so Carito can have Miguel. She’ll think of something.
Miguel and Luci, out in the vineyards, talk about trying to save the jobs of the temporary workers. The conversation gets around to Juan. Neither of them trust Juan, in spite of the friendship he has with David.
Marta and Ramón are cleaning up the breakfast dishes when a gigante bouquet of red roses and white hydrangeas arrives. The card is from Brian. Ramon has seen enough and leaves. Marta turns to say something to Ramón, but he’s gone.
Lilian is busy planning the “Remembering Lisa” tribute. Sonia has found pictures. Lil is planning to make a video with them. One of them is of Lilian’s husband, Don Fernando, in happier (?) days with Lilian, Grace and Lisa. She sends Sonia away. She tells the Dead Fernando, how could he trade her for Marta? She swears it won’t happen again. She calls Gutierrez. She apologizes and sweet talks him, but he’s not hearing it. He hangs up on her. She calls him Estupido. She cuts Don Fernando out of the picture saying she’s going to make sure Gut finishes just like Don Fernando. (Whoa! Is this a hint of mayhem to come?)

GRacie is always right there just a step behind DAve, nest-ce pas? I loved the eye fluttering\unfluttering. That pretty porcelain doll exterior hides a remorseless killer's heart of darkness.
Perla is a clueless puppy, and NOJuan always takes advantage of that fact . Ick. I hope that she has a part in helping to finally hoist his anvil .
Okay...back to your recap...instead of my chores.
I cannot wait for the next episode of "How DAve Stole CHristmas."
"Grace smells a spoiled rat in the stew" So much for the ceasefire.
I don't dislike Miguel and he and Luciana are a much better match but he does try way too hard and possessive as hell. Big red flag
I like David and continue to give him a pass. The weight of the household, family and the workers on his shoulders with only two people sympathetic to him without an agenda, Cesar and Bobby.
So, David is tight on cash and Miguel and Luciana want to keep the temp workers. Noble but it ain't your money.
Luciana gutted David and hope he stops all this foolishness over this young girl. I also hope he ceases to allow her to get in his face with demands and threats. She does it knowing he digs her but he now knows she played him, loves Miguel and when she has her romantic weekend accept defeat. Why can't a fine, emotionally available mature woman show that will appreciate David, love him, have his back, dispense with games and not take advantage? Luciana and Graciela are none of those things.
Susan slept with the boy so I don't feel sorry for her.
Maybe Luci has some noble 'sounding' reasons for the way she acts toward David, and it was neither her nor David's fault -- the Earring Stunt, but she is turning into a mean little beayotch, and nobody in their right mind should put up with that.
Playing hard to get is all right if the end game is to eventually get GOT.
OK girls, I just saw a Capital One commercial and I now know why I do not like NOJuan. He looks like Jennifer Garner with a beard. Those duck lips.! !
Anyway Anita. I started writing a comment before you had the recap up and did not tell you Thanks for working on this for all us, on a weekend, nonetheless.
I really liked the play by play on fluttering, she has it down. So thanks again.
Kirbo
This is a veritable orgy: EVERYbody in his household is giving David a sound mind-fu@%ing!
Tofie, and Kirby @3:24 youze guys nailed it! Pobrecito de Dave. That old fuzzy-headed wench of a mother-in-law playing Bobbie and Fernanda like a fiddle. David knows the stupid memorial for Lisa is uneccessary and will be a real downer and Sonia knows it too but that old hanger-on hoe, Lillian, has duped Bobbie into supporting it! GAH!
Then we've got the teeny-bopper action in the employees house and Fernanda's school! Fernanda is young, she's got an excuse, Perla and ugly-crying Carito are kinda young and weren't properly parented so they get a pass for being dumb bunnies but SUSAN? What a stupid dipstick! If she didn't want Tanito dipping in her business, why was she there in the middle of the living room whining and crying to her ex on the phone in front of Tano. And this coming down the stairs refusing to acknowledge his greeting. I think I'm about ready to ignore her, Carito and Perla for the rest of the show. UBER ANNOYING!!
Again, Tofie, agree that Miguel is trying WAY too hard. Okay, it looks like he can kiss and Luci seems to like it but I ain't feeling it. I hate to agree with Gracie but that make out session in the lab was totally uneccesary: take it upstairs to the boys room since Stupid Susan has apparently christened the bunk beds! Jeezopete!
Who said the other day that this show lacks a stable older couple, or a spiritually-grounded person or therapist for the dunder-headed and low-moraled to seek refuge in? Or, something like that. Yah. Cesar is about the closest we get to that. Marta could've been but she's bald-faced liar I'm just waiting to be exposed.
Big reveal is looks like maybe above-cited hanger-on hoe prolly killed her husband, Fernando? A little murder and mayhem would beat the shenanigans we have going on now!
But your wonderful recap and this space to vent makes it all worthwhile! Thanks, Anita!
"He leaves her standing there, eyes unfluttered" and "David takes off immediately to give them a piece of his dimdumb mind" were among many favorites.
“He can’t stop. She doesn’t stop him. This impromptu make-out session is only lacking a desk for Miguel to take it a step further”. Perfect imagery Anita as I shake my head vigorously in agreement. However, in all fairness, Miguel is in love. His heart is being scorched by fiery, burning, all consuming love. There was nothing whatsoever in Luci’s overt (and wordless) actions to indicate she wasn’t equally intrigued and entranced. Whatever her inner thoughts may have been, when she kissed Miguel back, her kisses were fervent and lingering.
There are some caring, strong men here who deserve far more than to be cast solely in the role of friend. Leon, Cesar for certain but no one more so than Ramon. He loved Marta but was respectful of her marriage. And he seems to stand no chance against the questionable Gutierrez, who really needs to devise an insanely intelligent game plan to woo Marta without ever coming face to face with her daughter. Good luck with that.
I'm looking forward to see what Luci concocts for a plan to get back at those bullying Bobby. I also want Tano to realize he is out of Susan's league and a far better match for Fernanda. I just want Susan to grow up.
I agree with the comments that Miguel is a bit controlling but he is bursting with pride that Luci is with him. Out of kindness, I think we should let the lad have his happiness for the few minutes it's bound to last ;)
And David, women have always put their children first yet managed to have successful marriages and relationships with significant others. I think you might manage to do the same.
I would have far preferred Juan team up with Graciela rather than Perla. I'm sorry, but I don't care for Perla, don't feel sorry for her and there is absolutely no romantic chemistry between Perla and Juan. Not even a whiff of smoke.
Anita, thank you!
Diana
If he survives, Then he can have her kill all the useless women before they kill him fighting over him.
Ramon and Cesar appear to be examples of good guys finishing last .... pobrecitos.
I am anxious to meet Susan's ex. He is probably another weasel since he is an amigo of NOjuan.
Susanlynn, I hope she gets a chance to play an important role in the plot other than caressing David with her eyeballs and breathy declarations of loyalty, as entertaining as those are! I'm starting to really like her. Sonia's my girl!
Diana, have you recapped before? How delicious would THAT be?
Sonia at least likes David and tries to help him expecting no more than a smile, which is more than can be said of Luciana and Graciela.
It's not Luciana's place to do something about the Bobby bullies but should tell David. I understand wanting to help the kid since Marta is the nanny but to purposefully not tell David achieves what? If successful she becomes the go to, inserting herself between Bobby and David giving her additional leverage to squeeze more from the guy. If it fails she will argue David was busy with his partner Graciela and couldn't be bothered. Who in hell does she think she is?
Susanlynn. I hope the weather people get it wrong. Sounds like it's going to be dicey! Be careful everybody in the path!
Night night, y'all. I've done enough fussin' for one day! ;)
So Lillian's daughters knew their father most of their lives. I think the writers really screwed up a timeline here.
Fernanda is out of her mind for not appreciating Peter. He's adorable and probably at least half the girls in their school would want him. Youth.....
Lila, thank you for your kind words. I was the unofficial third recapper for La Malquerida after Madeline fell ill. I could not have done it without Vivi who graciously stepped in and translated dialog and events that were simply over my head. I've made remarkable progress since my ruptured brain aneurysm last year, but recapping is something I just will not be able to attempt again. I am very content leaving that to others, who are far more able than I to convey all the events. I am happy to be part of this wonderful community - I count many here, as real friends.
Diana
Urban, I was being facetious when I mentioned the desk--it was only in homage to Perla. It would NOT have happened without concurrence by both parties. Yes, Miguel is a stand-up guy. But, I'm also with Tofie--once he "has" her, he won't let her go pee alone. He already does that, to a certain extent. He always seems to be hovering around her.
Have a busy day, so I'll be off line the rest of the day. Have fun.
I appreciate your support more than I can say.
Diana
Well, bless you, honey, so glad your with us on this interesting ride! You help keep the comments classy!! ;)
And gracias for the valuable recap, Anita. There are four things that keep me hanging on with this lukewarm mess of a show:
1. Azela Robinson (with bonus English...English...accent). I don't know what it is about her, especially since Lilian's not even the chief villain of the piece (although, if that implication about her late husband was true, she's going to level up at some point), but she's more often than not the best thing on the show that isn't Irina Baeva's pants and/or shorts.
2. As of late, Sonia the Pointy Haired Boss. Veronica Jaspeado has been stealing most of the scenes she's in.
3. David's recurring "I'm Rogelio from La que no podia amar and I hate everything, rawr!" thing/faces.
4. The random occurrences of heavily accented English spoken by evil people (Marta and Susan being the exceptions to the rule).
Bill...I agree that Veronica steals every scene. ....love her.
Dave makes me sad. GIve us a smile, Dave.
tofie, bless you...I wish you the same amiga.
Diana
Juan is slimmy.
Perla? Or cerita? Is going to probably be his down fall. She's silly.
If tano is not careful hes gonna get kicked off the farm. His hair looks like that cartoon guy on the Simpsons whose hair looks like psalm trees.
Chelsey gramer talks for that treehead character. They Really should change his hair, can't take him serious with it lookin like that.
OK gotta go. Thanks Anita.
Does that mean DEAD like Fernando? I got the impression that Lillian was responsible for Fernando's death. Hmmmm....Like mother like daughter, must run in the family. Gracie was responsible for murdering her sister Lisa and could it be that Lillian actually murdered Fernando? I am looking forward to finding out more about how he died.
I don't think humans stomp on grapes anymore. There are far more efficient ways to do that job with technology that isn't that recent.
Really, David hires Juan back in his same job because of guilt about Juan's daddy and his daddy? At least demote Juan for a bit and put him to filling in for the manual labor León, Ramón, and Tano would normally do.
Diana, your recaps for La Malquerida were terrific and helped all of us cope with Madelaine's illness. Though you don't plan to recap again, please know how much your comments are enjoyed -- always thoughtful. And woe to the character that makes you mad! You sock it to 'em with such wit. Continued recovery, amiga! Hope you feel better with each new day.
Lilian's hatred of Marta just couldn't be only because her husband cheated on her--with someone seemingly so plain and meek and has the devotion of her grandchildren. There must be something else on her conscience. If she's a murderer and she knows it, she must push off any feelings of guilt onto someone else and who else but the guilty party--Marta.
The one thing the writers let us down on (for their own reasons) has to do with why didn't Lilian accept Gutierrez' attentions years ago when he was sniffing around her. Did she think she could keep stringing him along for 10 years or more? Naaahhh.
She's not really interested in any relationship that lowers her social standing. So Gut is only worth anything to her as long as he can be of use. Also, how come in 10 years, plus, she was never able to get rid of Marta the same way. Yeah, yeah, Marta got permanent residence status, but that also took awhile, what with Juan delaying things.
So now that Gut seems to no longer want to be her puppy dog panting after her, and is interested in Marta, all those feelings of jealousy and anger are just raised exponentially--losing another guy to Marta.
More mayhem ahead!
nancyLS--thank you for joining your voice to ours on the Patio of Lowered Expectations (and there are a lot in Vino). Perla recently wangled the job of secretary to Juan, but she and Carito, I assume, work in the two houses as housemaids--someone has to empty the wastebaskets in the bathrooms--it wouldn't be Sonia or Lilian and I haven't seen ANY other maids in either house. But, I haven't seen either of them actually cleaning in the big house. They do seem to have a lot of time of their hands.
I agree with all the comments about Miguel being possessive. I still think he's a better match for Luciana in every way - except she really doesn't feel that way about him, and so to go to SF with him to seal the deal would be a BIG mistake.
Diana, you've been with us on Caray for a long time. I didn't realize you went through all that! I'm glad you're okay now...
Hi NancyLS, I think Carito works in the employees' house. I assume she is paid to do something more than just listening to evil Perla, but other than wiping dishes in the kitchen she hasn't done much that I've noticed.
I complained about the meangirls constantly for the first few weeks of this TN, and gave up only because I knew I was repeating myself. The pettiness is irritating, but Juan's probably going to try to get Perla to do much worse things than she's done so far.
Diana- Your recaps for Malquerida were fantastic, with no real need for my additions. I'm so glad you're continuing to heal and improve. You are a guerrera, amiga.
Oops
Anita: Juan still embezzling $$$ from David (who really had it coming) & all I have to say to Juan is GO FOR IT!
Kirby: Ramon knows that Gutierrez is the guy, who deported Luciana & Marcos. How long before he opens his mouth to Marta about Gutierrez ?
OT..Vivi...They are about halfway through shooting season three of OUtlander. It sounds as though it is going to stay pretty close to the book which was very interesting.
Where were we. Luci has already sucked face with the required minimum two suitors. Check
Has not bedded either..or anybody it seems. check ... start with a clean page good, good
Plans for a weekend away with horniest suitor. Check, good, good. We have three bars on the meter.
Oh. now if she even shares a bathroom with Miggy in San Fran, 10 months from now when she and Davvy finally commit to each other ..Rutt Roww ! Preggerzs
Five bars...
Beanie spun off and lodged in the ceiling fan.
I know many think that Miguel is more suited to Luciana, but he comes off as very desperate and way too possessive for me. I like the guy and he seems to be a straight up gentleman and hard worker, but his constant on and on about how much he loves her and fights for her to anyone who will listen has become quite boring. I'm firmly team David. I know he's a brooder, moody and not good at making his feelings known to her, but that's ok with me. I prefer that he seems to be fumbling and having a hard time with all of this. The man was already married and very devoted to his wife. If he were just off and running into a new romance I doubt I could get on board with him and Luciana.
I'm beyond tired of Perla and Carito. I find that anytime they're on, I will just jump through their scenes. I'm tired of Carito moaning and crying about a guy who has made it abundantly clear he's not interested in her and most likely never will be. Get a clue!
This may have already been discussed, but could it be that Marta knows who Gutierrez is and his hand in having her husband/Luciana deported years ago? Could she be setting him up?
I love Tano, but I'm not a fan of he and Susan together. I think she's got too many problems that are overwhelming her and she needs to get it together with them. I think as nice a guy has he is, he's a bit too immature in understanding that it's not his place to handle them. No matter how much he wants to stand up and fight for her, I personally think he needs to stay out of it.
I do love Sonia, what a character! Anytime she is on, is sure to be a good scene!
