Vino el Amor, Episode #33, Thursday 12/15/16

Luciana and Miguel walk along the vineyard talking about the presentation that Graciela is planning for the new wine. They passionately make out when David comes from behind. Miguel immediately goes into defense mode. But fret not, Miguel, David just wants to let Luciana know that they have to get be to present the wine. However, they can't have another surprise attack from David.
Juan needs workers and he needs them fast. He’s looking to get workers from across the border. All part of his plan to get his land back from David. A couple episodes back we found out that if you hire illegal immigrants you get a hefty fine or prison time. Does anyone know if this is true? Also, I thought that Grace had strictly forbidden Juan from doing anything that could hurt David.
*I get that Graciela cares for David but I want to know what made her fall for David so hard. He seems like a nice enough guy but all we know is that they dated for a bit in college but David ultimately chose Lisa instead of Grace. What did David do that had a lasting impression on Grace’s heart and soul?*
Juan is on the phone with Mark. He plans on using Perla for something that will hurt Susan, no doubt They have a really douche-y frat bro conversation ending with Mark saying, “You know how it is, women were made to obey us”. No wonder Susan wants to get away from this guy. Barf.
David bumps into Grace moments after witnessing a Luciana/ Miguel make out session. He’s not in the mood for any of Grace’s conniving tricks but he’s blames it on stress.
Susan and Luci are having some girl time away from the vineyard. Luci tells Susan about David walking in on the kiss that she shared with Mig. Seeing his reaction hurt. Susan thinks that David needs to get over it. Afterall, he’s the one that decided to focus solely on himself. Luci wants to know how things are going with Sus divorce. It’s been a nightmare. She’s been distancing herself from Tano so that Mark won’t hurt him. Luci asks what is she going to do when all of this is over and Tano won’t want anything to do with her anymore? Susan insists that it is worth the risk.
Familia Robles minus David are having tea in the garden talking about the event. Grace is in charge of the guest list so Fer asks if she can add Peter to the list. Martha also takes the opportunity to ask Grace for a friend to tag along. Brian Gutierrez. Why does Martha insist on adding fuel to the fire! And of course, Grace is gracious enough to stoke the fire.
Cesar is going to be there at the presentation to support Grace. When is he going to figure out that she’s a snake? He’s a doctor, I hope it doesn’t take him long. Anyways, David recounts how hurt he felt when he saw Luciana and Miguel. Cesar asks if David’s feelings are really that strong. After all, they only kissed a couple of times and they’ve never gone any farther than that. Luciana was the woman that helped him change which is why it hurts so much.
Martha invites Brian to the wine presentation. It’s important to her because Marcos worked very hard on the wine and Brian looks torn and guilty.
Lil and the kids are watching TV in the family room. Lil remind Fer that she has family around her that care about her, although of course none of them will ever be able to replace her mother, but people are there. Sonia takes that moment to let the kids know that she too is there for them. And in the saddest scene that I have ever seen, Bobby gets up and tells Sonia that she looks lonely all the time and he knows what it's like. A She should get a boyfriend. Maybe it just hits close to home since my name is Sonia too. Sonia looks truly moved when Fer tells her that she will ask her aunt to add her on the guest list.

He asks Luciana to make a speech about the wine and the work behind it but also about the role that her father played to produce it. Grace looks none too pleased about this as she glares at Luciana. Miguel embraces Luci and twirls her around as David looks on looking mopey. I fail to understand why he simply can’t be with her. Why does he insist on making himself miserable? Ramon makes a move to take Martha to the event but they’re going to go together after all. He just can’t catch a break.
Lil gets on her phone to also invite Brian to the event. She asks if he has heard about it, specifically Martha. Lil coaxes him with promises of introducing him to important people that can help him with his run as Sheriff. She wants him to understand that staying by her side is the ost convenient thing for him.
Lil lets Fer know that this event will be the first that David attends without Lisa. As woman of the house, it’s time for Fernanda to step up to the plate. Fernanda asks Lillian what would her mother do at event like this. Look beautiful mingled with gas and above all prevent any women from getting close too to him. The only women that should be around him are her, Fer and Lil. Together with they will fill the void that Lisa left. This sounds all creepy coming from Lillian to his daughter.
All this talk of the wine is making Luciana think about her father. He should be the one presenting the wine not her. Miguel says it's a great way to keep his memory alive
Juan tells Perla that she is going to have everything that she has ever wanted. But first she has to help him with a little side business. As I have mentioned before i have a really hard time with this relationship not only because of the age difference but also because I'm not sure if Juan really likes Perla. He found someone that helps illegal immigrants cross the border so what he is going to do is subcontract them. pearl looks taken aback by this. He tells her to look at it like they're helping them. But Perla isn’t down. It's illegal and if he thinks that she is going to help him he is out of his mind. Five bucks says she helps him.
David thinks that sealer or the idea of taking the invitations to the workers. She knows that it is going to be the first event that he attends without Lisa. She doesn't want him to feel alone and he needs to know that she is there to support him. Love you says that he has all the support he needs and walks away from her. I don't understand how after 20 years or more she is still so damn persistent. But I have to admit I admire her determination. If her presence makes him uncomfortable, she rather not go to the event. David says that it's very important for him that she be there. But she is hurt that he does not give her her place.
Martha is so happy that David is honoring Marcos at the event.
Pearl and Juan argue a little bit more about the new little side business. All she has to do is tell her American dream. He insists that he is not a bad person he's just trying to help other people that achieve said American dream. She's still hesitant. But she eventually caves in.
Grace goes to her room looking mad but it looks like she decides on telling David something else because she goes exam out the door only too see David coming. She quickly goes back into her room, leaving the door slightly ajar, and begins undressing. David comes into to find a half naked grace and he stares before turning his back like the gentleman that he is. But he's curious so he turns around to watch her before turning his back to her and apologizing. She apologizes to him for not hearing him come in. All he wanted to say was that she was right and he was sorry for not thanking her for everything that she has done for him. I thought acting was good in this scene. What do you think about Grace’s seduction tactics?
Leon is still begging Carito go out with him. I’m really annoyed to his character.
David fines Luciana looking out into the fields. They talk about the event a little more and her father and the love that the wine represents. Tano gets a letter that was not sealed from Mark’s lawyers. Ramon is upset but Miguel thinks that they might have a shot if they find a good lawyer. Tano asks Miguel not to say anything to Susan. Mig warns him to get a lawyer soon. He’s a latino going up against an American, it won’t be easy.
Luciana find a nice that she likes out of her budget. Martha says that she’ll find another one just like it. Grace offers to pay. Luciana tells her that they ran out of her size. Grace asks Luciana to accept it and turns to Martha to help her convince her but Martha agrees with Luciana.
Miguel buys Luciana a cute bracelet with a grape charm, which is adorable.

Thank you Sonia - I did not follow that conversation at all. I do think there is hope for Sonia. She is so hapless and yes, even helpless. Intelligent but no understanding of how to care for and about someone. She has only her childish crush on David, but then, who can blame her?
"I thought acting was good in this scene". I did too. Gabe has a smile that lights up a room. I am getting a bit impatient for it to appear more than once in a blue moon. As to David and Graciela, Kirby noted that Graciela is "cool as a cucumber". She certainly is. She is playing this masterfully. I did not realize she and David dated in college. This was a pivotal fact I missed so thank you for noting it.
I can appreciate Miguel loves Luci and the bracelet was cute. But his macho stares to David and his constant hovering around and hugging of Luci is overkill. He is going to the extreme now, fawning and fussing as Tano did. Cool down boy. No one wants to be suffocated. Give the girl a bit of air.
I think the character that is in the most trouble at this moment is Brian. Of course the smart thing would be to avoid the event at all costs. But, this being a TN, I'm sure he will show up. How he is going to either clone himself or divide his time will be fun to watch.
Luci's dress was pretty but she is really a beautiful woman something that obviously struck David like a thunderbolt.

Despite the rejection I think David is doing well watching Luciana and Miguel all over each other. She withdrew first and continued to make the argument his children was the barrier and he finally accepted it when she proceeded with her relationship with Miguel. Don't know why she gets upset when he doesn't get upset when seeing her kissing Miguel.
Never showed my boobies but shamefully admit at University as a cheerleader my uniform turned heads and used it to advantage on Mr tofie. He, who was an anti jock, peace-nick intellectual was after all warmblooded.

I was reading while watching last night, but when I heard that line about "women were made to obey us," my eyes suddenly clicked to the screen , and I yelled some verra bad words. Asshats.I could imagine all the female viewers throwing whatever was in their hands at their tv sets.
Luci looked lovely...and will not be obeying anyone..or anyJUan.. anytime soon.

I somehow completely missed the bit with Sonia and Bobby, which has to be another notch towards her softening and/or redemption. I'm all for that...partially because if Sonia gets all bent out of shape and weepy after just booze, I'd love to see what happens when she finds someone to love who loves her.
Fernanda's "mullet dress"...while I admittedly can't really get past the term "mullet dress," I thought she looked a little weird in it. Or maybe just less jailbaity than usual, I don't know.

Hey about NOJuan and Perla and 'The Evil Plan'. I am not sure his plan of importing undocumented workers and his quest for workers for David are the same. I got the impression they might be coincident. Also, I was thinking Miggy was procuring workers for the vineyard.

With Gracie, if she had said something like, "Now don't look so shocked, they still look like they did when you last saw them in your room the Lambda Ki house." or some other reference to their dating in college, it would have not been as spooky as her red lip smile and deep breath.

Will finish reading the recap and comments later on, but first I must answer Kirby's question from yesterday: "Is it common in Spanish culture for a sister to 'take one for the team' and stand in for a dead sister with the lonely kids and hot hubby?
I can't answer for any culture, but in Gracie's case, she just wants back what Lisa took away from her when she and David were "going together" in college. Maybe it was all in her mind--but I remember it was either Juan or Cesar saying how the four of them double dated until David chose Lisa instead.
I can't answer for any culture, but in Gracie's case, she just wants back what Lisa took away from her when she and David were "going together" in college. Maybe it was all in her mind--but I remember it was either Juan or Cesar saying how the four of them double dated until David chose Lisa instead.
Sonie--Ooops, that's what I get for not reading the recap first. You asked and almost answered Kirby's question almost out of the gate. Besides wanting to get back what Lisa took, he's rich, has status in the community, makes good wine and can wear tight jeans and belt buckles well.

I am sure she is the kind of woman who, if she did finally get David, would send the kids off to a boarding school somewhere and convince David that it's the best thing for their education.

Much as I hate myself for it, I am gradually beginning to work in the Gracie pit. The big names are just not competitive right now. Luci is just plain beautiful, and her unvarnished openness is refreshing, and even for a jealous man, it is hard to not like David.

Steve Sonia seems to be in the direct employ of Lillian and does what she is commanded to do. I don't see her as actually evil, she just works for an evil one.

Did someone ask if a new female character could be introduced? I do have the impression that we may get to see another female character. Adolfo keeps mentioning his daughter, Ericka who is away at school or Europe or something. I have a feeling that we may get to meet this Ericka. They wouldn't be writing in the dialogue of Adolfo making sure he mentions his daughter more than once. I don't like Adolfo, he just seems very dishonest. So maybe it will be a "like father, like daughter" scenario.
Cynthia, do you think she'll have David in her cross hairs and be competition for Gracie and Luci? Adolfo's vineyard/winery is in competition with David so that would be irregular, but hey, it's a novelesque kinda move.
I don't know Lila, that is a good question. But in these telenovelas, anything is possible. What if she is Gracie's friend? Nah....Gracie doesn't have friends, just people she uses.
