Vino el Amor, Episode 38 Friday, 12/23/16

Episode 38, coming to you from Sonia.  Enjoy!

David is livid, livid, LIVID. Susan is trying to keep the peace and justify Luciana and Miguel’s trip to San Francisco. Susan asks why he is so upset that Luciana and Miguel left. He says it's because with this Luciana is confirming that she would do whatever to be with Miguel. Why does David like to complicate his life? His relationship with her is changing ever since she started seeing Miguel. “Isn’t it a good thing that she found someone as good as Miguel though?”, Susan reasons. Juan comes into the lab with the excuse that there is a problem with the bank. As we saw in the last episode, Juan is getting rid of David to help Grace with her little Joselo problem.

Meanwhile in San Francisco, Miguel and Luciana are having a great time. Susan calls to tell her that David knows that they are in San Francisco together and that he is jealous. “That’s his problem and I’m not going to let anything ruin this trip, not even David”. Miguel is standing behind her grinning. It’s music to his ears. Miguel wants them to go to El Salvador and Mexico. Maybe Marta can join them. Speaking of, Luciana feels bad that she isn’t going to meet the man that her mother is dating. Moving on, Miguel wants tonight to be special. He has a few surprises planned, too.

Joselo is impressed with the wine. Grace doesn’t understand why he doesn’t trust her. I wonder that too. She claims that everything is so complicated at home and she convinces him not to stay at the vineyard. Juan finally gets to meet Joselo, and notes that Grace introduces him as “her representative” since he was under the impression that they were much more than that. Grace is clearly having a hard day and takes a drink of her wine. Joselo confirms that they are indeed something more but he also looks like he doesn’t trust anything that is coming out of Juan’s mouth. Grace tries to take control of the situation as Juan “innocently” rips her lies and deceit to shred in front of her face. He also thinks that Joselo should meet David. If looks could kill, Juan and his luscious lips would be history. Grace needs better allies. Joselo excuses himself to go the bathroom. Juan attack plan enters it’s final stage. He gives Grace an ultimatum either she gives him the money that he wants or David and Joselo find out her true intentions.

Marta is excited for the dinner with Brian. Leon lets his mother know that he went on a date with Sonia. She begs him to be careful.

“It’s simple, Gracie” Juan tells her. Gracie agrees to all of his terms.

David finds Fer and her boy toy Peter walking along the vineyards. Peter asks David if Fer can go with him to Italy. He even offers David to talk to his parents. Fer is having none of it and just wants him to shut up. David gets a phone call and leaves.  Something happened to Bobby at school!!!!

Miguel goes to prepare the surprise that he has for Luciana. She, on the other hand, catches none other than Gracie arm-in-arm with Joselo at the hotel were she and Miguel were eating. She takes a quick picture on her phone and sits back down.

Ew Mark is bothering Susan. She threatens to call the police but he says he is just looking for Juan. After all, they are friends. Perla shows up to let him know that Juan will be there soon. Ew.

Miguel is back! Luciana tells him what she saw. Miguel wants them to forget everyone at the vineyard. She agrees to do so and she tells him that he makes her very happy. I feel like she is stringing him along and he deserves better than that!

Juan and Perla are waiting for Juan in his office. Ew  Mark says, “Has anyone told you how pretty you are?” Perla lets him know that she is with Juan but Mark doesn’t mind. “I’m not a gentleman”. Truer words have never been said. Thankfully Juan returns in time to interrupt Perla and Mark’s “conversation”.  Juan’s office needs to be blessed by a priest or something because it’s the center of all evil.  Mark is there is to let Juan know that the people they were going to traffic were all deported. “Thank god there are more where they came from” Dear God, I hate this man.

David arrives at Bobby’s school just to be told that his classmates were bullying him and now he has a black eye. He finds little Bobby with his head on a desk. The only person that Bobby wants to talk to his Luciana.

Mark and Juan want/need more immigrants as soon as possible. Tano sees Mark leaving Juan’s office. Susan asks Juan not to see Mark at the vineyard. She doesn’t want anything to do with him.

Back in SF, Miguel is getting the room ready by setting the mood. Luciana comes in and opens her eyes to a romantic dinner with scattered rose petals all over the room. He just wants her to be happy. They don’t even get to toast because they start kissing.

The whole family including Marta are concerned with Bobby’s black eye. Lillian tells Marta to leave because she isn't part of the family. Bobby wants David to call Luciana. Reluctantly he does so. She picks up and he tells her that Bobby needs her. He passes the phone Bobby. He asks her to come back. A shirtless and impatient Miguel waits for Luciana to get off the phone. She promises to go back and she promises Miguel that she will come back to him.

Sonia want to apologize to Leon. She told him to get out so that Lillian wouldn’t treat him badly. He accepts her apology and they agree to go out again.

Lillian gives her daughter the heads up to get over to the vineyard. An opportunity to get closer to Bobby has arisen and Luciana is already on her way.

Tano asks Susan the reason for Mark’s visit. She misses Tano and so they kiss. That’s kind of all there is to them.

Bobby lights up when Luciana walks into his room. It’s official, Bobby is my favorite character. She gives him advice and much needed hugs.

Juan warns Lillian that Grace is not to be trust but Lil already knows that.

David thanks Luciana for coming. She tells him that she is going back to San Francisco to be with Miguel. He understands and he thanks her again for being there for his son. They walk towards each other as if they are going to kiss and the episode ends. I need these two to get together already. I’m tired of all of this back and forth nonsense.

Thanks, Urban. Fine recap. Juan’s office needs to be blessed by a priest or something because it’s the center of all evil. - ha!

Enjoying the recaps and the comments, but the TN not so much. By the time David and Luciana stop their endless yo-yo game, I don't think I'll care.

Who would've thought Leon and Sonia would be the most interesting couple. He's confident not wimpy with her and she lets her hair down with him. Maybe no romance in the works, but a beautiful friendship.

Oops! Thanks, Sonia. Great to have your recap with breakfast first thing in the morning.

Thank you, Sonia! Like many of you, been happily busy, but there being no show on Thursday helped me to get caught up. I'm with you, Sonia: all of this back and forth is tiring! I've accepted that there's really no story here on VINO, just several grades of juvenile crushes, lots of interrupted tangos, hissing by Lillian, leering by Juan (and now add the yucky Mark to that) and hair flipping by Perla, Luci and DisGrace! The only getting down we've seen is between Lillian and nit wit Gut Boy and that left me needing to spit. Duhveed is too easily manipulated! Y'all know I'm on his team but we all know DisGrace is going to come up the stairs and lip block him and Luci.

What.Ever!

To Urban, dy77, Delilah, Anita and Sonia, a BIG GRACIAS! To you, the entire commenting and lurking patio, Merry Christmas!

Maybe see you later in comments!

Happy holidays, everyone!

Sonia- Thanks for the wonderful recap! I've missed the last few episodes, but the only thing I'm sad about missing are the Sonia-Leo scenes. :)

Not at all surprising that Lucia skipped out on Miguel just when things began to heat up. Let's see if she actually goes back to SanFran. I wonder if she sees that she's falling into her mother's pattern of putting David's family first, ahead of her own personal life?

UA: Muchas Gracias!

Niecie: I still don't see Leon & Sonia lasting too long because she's old enough to be his mother for God's sakes!

1.) Juan's office IS the center of evil. I'm still predicting that he & Mark are scheming to have Luciana kidnapped & sold into sex slavery.

2.) Graciela wants to get rid of the Jesolo problem ? Jesolo should've stayed put in Spain!

3.) The stare-down between Lillian & Marta is BORING! I'm still intrigued about why hasn't Lillian exposed Marta's affair with Don Fernando to anyone ? I mean Lillian holds all of the cards at the moment.

4.) Gabriel Soto's English sounded like an angry parent!

5.) FerBrat (AKA Aranza 2.0) taking a page out of Lillian & Graciela's playbooks on how to get someone! Let's hope FerBrat doesn't kill anyone considering it's in the genes!

6.) Mark stalking Susan over & over. Why doesn't she just lock the office door & file a restraining order with law enforcement agencies ?

7.) Peter should be with Carito in the end.

Thank you Sonia for this on Christmas Eve.

"I feel like she is stringing him along and he deserves better than that!" Really beginning to dislike Luciana and I'm no Miguel fan either.

I find so much wrong with the threesome. Luciana isn't confused but using Miguel and lying to him in word and deed. Meanwhile she has deftly manipulated David, keeping him hooked with an occasional love lost lament, a flash of jealously, a vindictive in your face parade of her relationship with Miguel and her mothering of Bobby.

"It’s official, Bobby is my favorite character" Too many hovering and spoiling him though. Marta, Lilian, Graciela and Luciana on call. He needs a few guy friends and David more involved. Liked the scene when David was at the school outside the door and Bobby locked in.

Mark really creeps me out and his come on to Perla foreboding. She tried to tell Juan and he just brushed it off and wonder if it's because he doesn't care instead of believing there is nothing to it.

Bout the time I become a Susan fan again she goes gooey over Tano. Wish she'd accept David's help with Mark.

Thank You Sonia, short and sweet, perfect for today.

Yup, Bobby is my favorite, and, incidentally, it seems the smartest one at the vineyard.

Mark and Perla. 'You lay with dogs, you get fleas' probably applies here. I have zero sympathy for her, she is just a dirty little Hoe. Her past does not justify her being the way she is, that is an excuse, not a reason. As a matter of fact, Mark probably cleared his intentions with NOJuan beforehand, it happens.
"Hey Bud, your little helper is kinda hot, are you in love...or is she....?" "Fork, no, go for it, what's she gonna do?"

All that drooling and slobbering with Charlie Brown and Luci in the hotel in San Fran, I hope it doesn't ooze down in there and short out my TV.

Anyone notice how condescending DisGrace was to Joe after she serviced him? Look Disgrace, if you were the first to give it up, humanity would have died out long ago. It aint that special.

FerBrat sinks lower and lower, Dave gets dumber and dumber. Let them all destroy each other and Bobby can inherit it all.

Wow Linus and Susie. If they worked for Lockheed Martin or General Dynamics they would not even be getting unemployment they'd be so FIRED. Same for Charlie Brown and Luci.

Merry Christmas everyone. I hope the weather breaks a tiny bit for everyone for the holidays. The traffic and weather on TV is YIKES !

Kirbo

Kirby: I'm predicting Perla will end up DEAD before too long. She's either going to get strangled or cold-cocked punched like Marinita on "Pasion Y Poder".

Tofie: I NEVER liked Perla & will be enjoying watching her suffer!

I also will be looking forward to seeing Luciana (can't stand her either) getting sold to El Coyote's human trafficking syndicate!

Why can't Miguel ever fully button his shirt? He seemed overly eager in San Francisco. Lucia should tell him the truth about her feelings for Dim Don David.

Wardrobe removes his sleeves and top buttons, casting, the brain.

Steve if Perla thinks for a nanosecond that NOJuan will protect her from MarkyMark or El Coyote or anything she is dumber than I originally thought.

How's the weather there? And what time is it?

Good work, Sonia y Feliz Navidad a todos.

My favorite line: Juan’s office needs to be blessed by a priest or something because it’s the center of all evil.

What it needs is an exorcism, but when I remember the exorcism scene in AMF I'd recommend that they wait until the fermentation tanks are empty and the insurance is paid up.

Peter can do so much better than Carito. Leon should not allow Sonia to treat him as she did in this episode.

I do not think Luciana is knowingly playing games with Miguel. I think she has very little experience with romance and doesn't know what she's doing. Of course we all foresaw that this tryst would be stopped by something from the outside (a popular TN stock plot point). Luciana will always have Bobby in her corner thanks to this situation. Cute kid; reminds me of a cousin from the other side of the pond.

Clever of her to take photos of Gracie and Joselo that she can use against her later. And the devil help anyone who has hurt her family or David's when she finds out.

Again Lillian has to brush Marta off with the "family" thing. I'm getting tired of that.

It is raining in NYC right now, certainly not ideal for Christmas. Forecast for tomorrow is sunny and in the 50s. We've only had three White Christmases in the last two decades, but as a person with bad knees that doesn't bother me.

Sonia..thank you so much for this speedy recap at a busy time. I have mucho to do, but I had to make a quick comment .

Like geez, his many times is Luci going to run out on Miguel after getting him all hot and bothered. There is a name for girls who do that. This poor guy has been blocked so often . I am impressed by his self control which many other guys would not have. Just saying. Was anyone else hearing "I Left My Frustrated Novio San Francisco." At this point, I do not think that Miguel will ever get to San Francisco.

Bobby needs some karate or boxing lessons. It seems that all the adults are useless. When our older daughter was about 7 or 8, a little boy started pushing her on a daiky basis. One day, I was visiting school , and I sat down at the lunch table with her and her friends , including The Pusher. I casually told him that her daddy did not like people pushing her. Anotherlittle boy looked at the kid and said "Have you ever seen her daddy? He's very big." No more pushing. The kid is now a lawyer, so I hope he is over that bad habit

Well, I have baking and wrapping still to do . Happy Holidays to all our wonderful, dedicated, hardworking recappers and to all the witty commentors.

Merry Christmas Urban. Yeah, if it is not going to be nice weather, why not a little snow? OTOH, talk about Christmas in July, how about July in Christmas?

It is noon and 85 degrees and not a cloud in the sky here in FLA. Probably a few degrees warmer later today. I think even the plastic Christmas trees are wilted. :-)

For once in this TN somebody cleverly used their ever present smart phone.

I was hearing 'You're No Good' Linda Rondstadt.

Kirby: I'm currently listening to Lea Salonga's "When October Goes".

40 and overcast here, but it was raining when I woke up this morning. I am still scurrying around doing last minute stuff...every year it is the same no matter how early I start preparing for the holidays. I am listening to my favorite Christmas song "Last Christmas" by Wham.

I do not need snow..in fact I prefer to be snowfree so I do not have to worry about driving on icy roads. Cannot stand the heat. We took the whole family to Disney world in November and the high 80 degree weather nearly killed me.

Merry Christmas to all! It has been enjoyable reading your many comments.

Weather in Central Ohio for Christmas is supposed to be a high of 39 degrees, so no snow.

We are heading to Miami and Key West around the end of December to see the Orange Bowl game and see the sights. It will be the first time we have visited Miami. Hope the weather there is nicer than in Ohio.

Christmas in Dixie---Alabama Whole album is excellent.

GBF de Ohio

Bienvenido a Florida. Espero que tu espanol ws bueno.
Because you will need it in Miami.
:-)

es buena

Thanks Sonia for your dedication to getting the recap done, especially when this time of year is so busy! I had the feeling nothing was going to happen with Luciana and Miguel this episode. When David called her about Bobby, she came rushing back. I wonder if she and Miguel or going to continue their romantic weekend now that it's been kind of spoiled by Luciana running back?

Merry Christmas to everyone here. It's cool and it's been somewhat rainy here in Los Angeles. There is snow in the mountains, so when I drive down the street, I can see our beautiful snowy mountains in the background. Blessings!

Thank you Sonia and all the recappers. I've been mostly lurking with this one. I'm glad i'm not the only one who thinks this one is kinda silly.

That David and Cesar talk incessantly about his feelings for Luciana is so unrealistic.
-Susan does seem to be the only one working.
-I want to fast forward though the Tano parts too.
-They are babying Bobby something awful. What did it serve for Luciana to come home to talk with him? We all know that at the very end of the show, when David and Luciana were about to kiss, that Grace will arrive.
-Why can't David and Luciana just put their relationship on the back burner until Fer is away at college? Isn't she almost done with highschool?
-Grace was actually pretty at the reception with that lighter pink shade of lipstick. I suppose the wardrobe department wants to make her look slutty with the dark red.
-Poor Miguel will be one sexually frustrated man by the end of this show
-Luciana has perfect enunciation. Love that!
-I agree with others that Leon and Sonia's relationship is the most interesting
-More later....

Cathyx, I totally agree about David and Luciana waiting until FerBrat is away at college. I'm sick of how she has been dictating David's love life up till now.

BTW, if Sonia has any idea about having a relationship with Leon she better show respect to Marta and Luciana.

Merry Christmas everybody. Thanks Urban, for the recap.

They need to call a priest for the whole house
Don't forget the evil that follows lil & gracie
Around that house. Poor david, he wont have
A chance without lucy. I wish they'd get it up
Too. She know she don't want to be with the
Mig. As sweet as he is......here comes a broken heart. Ok dinner is ready. Have agood one good yall. Thanks again Urban, Merry Merry!!

Ok I don't want to be thanking the wrong person, tho both are good recapers. Ok thank
You both, Urban and Sonia.
And I thought that would be a really good friendship with leo & sonia, but not with lil influencing her.

Nina, I think Sonia has Lillian's numnber and just bows down to her because it is a JOB. From her conversation with Leon when they went out, she does not care for Lil either. Who could, the way she treats Sonia as if she is not fit to breath Lillian's air. Hateful wench.

Sonia, thank you for your fine recap.

I enjoyed every word. "Ew Mark is bothering Susan" and the wry "She misses Tano and so they kiss. That’s kind of all there is to them" had me smiling away and were my favorites.

“Thank god there are more where they came from” Dear God, I hate this man" had me agreeing, shaking my head at how incredibly loathsome Mark is. One of the most non-appealing characters I've seen in a long time, with no apparent redeeming qualities at all.

I keep thinking of poor Bobby. He looked so small and frail, his blonde head downcast and the brutish redness encircling his eye visible on his wan, pale face. If there is anyone more detestable than a bully, I would be hard pressed to say what.

Miguel and Luciana were generating some clear chemistry. If not for the untimely call, the outcome of this TN might have a very different ending. That said, I was glad she returned for Bobby's sake.

"Who would've thought Leon and Sonia would be the most interesting couple. He's confident not wimpy with her and she lets her hair down with him. Maybe no romance in the works, but a beautiful friendship". Loved your perspective on this Niecie. It was good to see him confident and self assured for once.

As Juan, Graciela and Lili all have their own agendas, they are simply working for their own selfish gain. They don't (and shouldn't) trust each other. I sense no mother daughter bond or affection between the two women. Their desired outcomes for David are at odds and little unites them except a shared desire to see Luci gone.

"I wonder if she sees that she's falling into her mother's pattern of putting David's family first, ahead of her own personal life?" Vivi, the thought hadn’t crossed my mind. But of course you are right. Marta and Luci seem so dissimilar, perhaps they are more alike than one might think.

I hope everyone has had a wonderful day. Thank you to all the recappers and commenters for the great fun and camaraderie here.

Merry Christmas all.

Sonia, thank you!

Diana

Well, well SusanLynn, it seems that as you were listening to Last Christmas, George Michael , the lead singer in the singing group !WHAM! was seeing his last one. He just died of 'undisclosed causes' at age 53.

Thank you Sonia for the interesting recap. So true that Bobby appears to be the smartest one so far in the TN. I have been watching the TN when possible. I noticed that David and Luciana have some very awkward kissing scenes. But that she and Miguel appear to have very good kissing scenes. It also looks like when one person likes the other person, that person likes someone else. Gabriel Soto had better chemistry with
Zuri Vega in Un Refugio Para el Amor. Maybe this is what is wrong-there is not a great chemistry between David and Luciana In Vino el Amor. Oh well we shall see.

Diana: Lillian, Graciela, Juan, Mark & Co., working together to get Luciana sold to El Coyote.

Kirby: It's not if Luciana gets sold to El Coyote, it's WHEN!

Steve as fiery as Luci is, if Coyote gets her he will either love her or kill her.

OT..Very sad to hear of George Michaels' sudden death. I had a student who gave a speech about him in speaking class saying that he was his favorite singer and that people said that he looked like him. He used to wear those half gloves like George. His brother used to come to c!Ass and ask me what certain adjective noun phrases meant.." precious time" ..."careless whispers,". I finally figured out that they were lyrics from George Michaels' songs. RIP, George.
