Vino el Amor; Wednesday, 12/14/2016 chapter 32: Graciela Manipulates, gets her Way
Labels: vino
Did anyone else feel like losing their supper when all are gathered to hash out the details of the wine presentation mind meld and Miggy and Luccy could not even get through it with loooong draaaaawn ouuuut looks of love. Especially Miggy the horn dog. He is so in love, grow a pair kid. Sheesus Peesus, get a frippin room you two and get it out of your system for long enough to hit maybe one lick of work. I would have shit canned both of them when I had to pry them apart in the vineyard. DONE..! Look, you two are sooo out of here. "Hello Labor Ready, sent me a couple more. Yeah You're Welcome, bye."
Oh, and Thanks Again Cynthia. Toodle pips till tomorrow.
Liliana looked different to me....better. Different mskeup? Her eye brows looked different. The wardrobe department still hates her.
Well, later gators. I have final grades to submit.
Verra cold here...brrrrrrrr.
"Fernanda become very bored and kicks back with her earbuds and music" Highlight of the evening
Graciela as the peace maker and brilliantly executed is exactly what David, his family and his business needs. The only fly in the soup is Luciana. Sooner Luciana and Miguel consummate their relationship the better for all.
So glad to have more folk thrown into the mix. I'm bored with smooching Miguel and Luciana, Marta/Lilian/Bryan and being force fed Susan and Tano.
Guess Juan and Adolfo go way back but why the warning instead of a job offer?
What is Juan and Mark up to and how will that make Juan rich? Perhaps Susan's house is in San Francisco and appraised at 2 or 3 million.
Your dialogue translations were wonderful and greatly appreciated.
"he pulls his trump card, the “Remember, your father Marcos was part of all this too" was my favorite line of many.
"Susan says, “Are you going to let your pride get in the way of what is important? If you want this wine to be representative of what we are all about, you are going to have to what I do. Insert your batteries, get to work and just endure Gracie!” was great! Susan's personal life may be in shreds, but she dispenses solid advice to her friends, doesn't she?
"David watches from nearby and lovingly looks at the both of them heading upstairs". Can someone tell me please if Graciela was aware of David's presence? She didn't seem to know he was there, yet seemed genuinely kind and loving to Bobby. Was that just for show? I would hope there would be some strand of kindness among her cold calculations.
The night belonged to Graciela. Cool and manipulative with nothing but the sweetest, sincerest expressions, she is melting David's defenses by winning her niece and nephew over more each passing day. Even Lili has given her blessing. Poor Lisa must truly be beside herself.
Mark did seem like a slimeball Cynthia! There was nothing about him that stood out for me in any way. The lascivious way he looked at Perla was cringeworthy.
At least Luci and Susan have Gracie's number. Am glad Luci stepped up to the challenge of working with Gracie. This could get interesting.
Susanlynn, the wardrobe department does hate Lili! Too funny...
I hope everyone stays warm and well today. Cynthia, thank you for this most excellent summary...
Diana
Diana, good morning. Cold and windy here...20. Winter is here.
I missed seeing Mark. If he is eyeballing young Perla..ick. Lecher. That roving eye was probably partly the cause of the divorce.
GRacie is pretty clever at wearing that mask of caring and gentle support. She seems to be patiently wearing Sad Dave down. She is not the first person to hide her true nature until she gets what she wants ...Which in Gracie's case is everything\body her sister had. Hello , sibling rivalry.
I was expecting Slimeba...er...Mark to look away from Perla and ask NOJuan, "Do you mind?" as if expecting NOJuan to share. OK dirtbag, she may not be our favorite, but she's not a slice of pepperoni pizza.
Adolfo gets in line for the "Punch Ducklips in the Face" sign up sheet.
You have to give it to Gracie, she is focused, and under control. This murdering little sociopath is one cool cucumber. She makes little Lucy look like the Tasmanian Devil.
Speaking of which: it's increasingly obvious that, while at first glance you probably would have thought it'd be Lilian as the chief villain of the show, Graciela is decidedly more actively villainous than she is (and then there's Punchable Face Juan, but until he commits a murder he's still a somewhat distant second). And the fact that Graciela is a consistently never-let-them-see-you-sweat villana makes it even more of a pleasant--in its way--surprise.
As for (o hai) Mark...did anybody else's opinion of Susan drop a notch, even briefly, the minute he showed up? I guess it's supposed to be ironic that Susan, one of the show's voices of reason, would fall for an almost literal pile of grunge (that said, his look made me think "Yeah, this kinda explains Tano, doesn't it?), but wow. At least we got another Mar Contreras freakout scene out of it.
Diana--Gracie does everything for show.
This is the first time we've seen Lilian debase herself in front of her daughter. She's always been the powerhouse, manipulating and dictating to Gracie. This is definitely a turn about--even if it's Gracie's plan to get David.
Kirby and Bill C--you have Gracie's number--calm, cool, focused and nobody had better get in her way, not even mumsie.
As long as Lisa was alive, Lilian didn't need Grace. She was better off in Europe where she couldn't get into trouble. (I still wonder how she made enough of a living off her art to afford all the Clairol and Drama Red lipstick she needs.)
Now that Grace is back with an agenda, Lilian finds herself in the background, eased out by the youngsters, Juan and Grace. She really only has two things left to occupy herself with--Gutierrez and ordering Sonia around. Let's see if she comes up with anything else. Something will have to come between mother and daughter to make things interesting.
Luciana really is your stereotypical workplace millennial who needs to look into paying some workplace dues first, huh.
Gracie is my favorite on this - awful person, but the actress makes the character fun to watch being bad.
Miguel is hopelessly devoted to LUci just as Dave was hopelessly devoted to LIsa. Miguel is going to be hurt. He deserves someone who appreciates that devotion.
I cannot wait to see Mark. I did not see the end . Does he look like Tano?
So, we finally met Mark, and Perla knows where Juan lives. Two big mysteries solved. Too bad I didn't see it. Though I suspect this won't be Mark's last episode. Anyway, I saw him in your screencap, Cynthia. Thanks for that. I can't tell much from the back of his head, but there's nothing there that makes me want to see the rest of him.
Julie..I agree that nobody should be "in charge" of Luci except Luci, but I also agree that Luci does not seem able to be in charge of herself . GRacie is certainly supremely able to control herself as she manipulates everyone around her to try to get what she wants .
By the way, how does Juan know that GRacie killed LIsa? Did he see it , or did GRacie tell him?
Let's see, Graciela
financial bailout for David and the vineyard
supports Miguel and Luciana, should make them happy, especially Miguel
supports Fernanda and Bobby and their relationship with Marta
argues the futility of Lilian's obsession with Marta successfully to foster harmony in the home
won't let Juan destroy David or get him in trouble with the law
is not confused about who she wants
artsy and well paid for her work, financially independent but willing to forego her art to learn and support David
If it weren't for bashing her sister in the head with a rock she's a perfect match for widower Dave
SusanLynn, Juan guessed it because of the sequence of events. I think he saw Gracie leave the house and then definitely saw her return after the crime, looking dazed and probably frightened. David found Lisa's body shortly thereafter and Juan remembered the direction he saw Gracie return from. He also knows the backstory and therefore her motive. He has this on her and she knows it.
Tofie, you said: "What is Juan and Mark up to and how will that make Juan rich? Perhaps Susan's house is in San Francisco and appraised at 2 or 3 million." Yeah maybe. And it's only a 2 bedroom townhome. ;) I definitely know how expensive San Francisco is!
Julie: David used the word in Spanish "encargado" which means "in charge". I'm not sure exactly how he meant it, perhaps as an employee organizational chartwise. I'm sure there is a double meaning behind it, like, "She's yours to deal with now" and David was making it sound like it was a work thing. Also, I thought of putting a screenshot in of Mark, but I liked the one of Susan telling Mark to get out better and that had the back of his head.
Bill C: You mentioned that your opinion of Susan may have changed when Mark showed up. I was once married to an abusive man and have known other women who were married to abusers. When you date an abuser, you don't know what they are because since most are psychopathic, they put on a very good act for as long as they need to. Then when you get married or move in with them, their true colors start showing, but by that time, they have you so psyched out and manipulated that you question your own sanity. They put one face on for the world and another face on for their spouse/girlfriend. The rest of the world sees this "wonderful guy" who has a great and charming personality. But at home, he turns into Mr. Hyde. Strong women have the fortitude to walk out, whatever the consequences are.
Susanlynn: I agree with your assessment that Mark's roving eye was part of the reason for the divorce, but I also believe that his physical abusive behavior was the bigger part.
Thanks everyone for your compliments! I'll be back later. I have a lot of work to do today. :)
Perla needs to get a CLUE & notice that Juan is likely to do the same to her too.
Cynthia: Mark violently abusing Susan reminded me of Erick Montenegro abusing Connie in "Pasion Y Poder".
Tofie: But the best part is that Fernanda, Bobby & David have NO idea that Graciela whacked Lisa. When the truth about that comes out, we're going to sit back & watch.
However, for now, let Graciela keep winning at the moment.
Julie: Where was Carito ? I didn't see her in last night's episode.
Cynthia: *hug*! You do make a good point about abusers often being able to hide their true nature from the world...but, at least for me, Mark failed that horribly because he looked like grunge from the second he showed up. It absolutely should have applied, and it might even have been better from a narrative standpoint if he had shown up as a well-dressed man with a nice cut, but the show went the opposite way doing sixty. (I still think his vague resemblance to Tano explains a bit about Susan after she left him, but that's me.)
Y'all killing me! Great comments! Tofie. You always hit the nail on the head. Except for that rock upside the head Gracie DOES look pretty good compared to Luciana flip flopping, butting in where she doesn't belong. . .her attack on Gracie's launch plan for the wine looked not only unprofessional but bitchy and stoopid. Luci tried to play nice later with that pitiful little speech she gave. And yes, Kirby, her and Miguel's drooling looks were nauseating. Gracie showed her how to really do "nice/nasty". I hate to admit it but agree with y'all that Grace did shine in this episode man, she is working these people like there's no tomorrow.
If Gracie gets into David's tight jeans and Miguel gets into Luci's even tighter ones, I don't know how they're going to convince us that David and Luci are end game and I don't know if I want to watch that butt ugliness.
My comment about Gracie getting in David's tight jeans was because of a little snippet I saw in the previews. I think Gracie is going to show David some of her other assets. Big or otherwise, brother man ain't "known" a woman for a while and, uh, well. .maybe it could be soon.
Oh that changes things doesn't it?
:-)
Tofie: Right again. Just looking more and more like an old fashioned cat fight over territory.
Ladies and Gentlemen the pilot has turned on the seatbelt sign. Please put your seatbelts on and return your seats to the upright position. We might have a bumpy ride.
I am not invested in any of these people...except maybe Miguel ..because...he seems to know what he wants and seems truly in love with Luci.
As to the tight jeans..I am still missing SWeet WIlliam LEvy's famous wet, white jeans from La Tempest..now those were JEANS.
