Hi all. I'm finally back home. I wasn't able to watch any episodes while I was away, but thanks to the recaps and comments on CarayCaray, I was able to keep up with La Fan and, to some extent, with La Doña. Muchas gracias a tod@s.
LA FAN #18 2/9/17 Thursday
The interview continues. Lucas lays it on lovey dovey thick. He will even give "La fan's" child his name if the baby's father does not recognize him. He loves Vale. The contest was not a fraud. Lucas kisses Vale. Gabriel looks panic stricken. The interview has had its desired effect on the social networks. Vale tells Lucas that he was so convincing in the interview that for a moment she was afraid that everything that had happened between them was just another one of his lies.
Adriana invites Diego to go running on the beach. It is their usual hot/cold "dance." Jessica just "happens" to run into them. Adriana decides it is time for her to go. Jessica agrees with Diego that a woman like Adriana would never end up with him. He needs a woman like HER? Diego asks. Jessica just keeps flirting.
Salma is back from the prison trip with Agustín. There was a riot. Visiting day was cancelled. She did her part and went. She hopes that it is all over now. Nobody recognized her. Salma is afraid of her ex Nicolás. She said she would take care of him but she never went to see him in prison. Agustín is tired of seeing Salma always waiting for Lucas to throw her some crumbs.
Quique sends his henchman and another "pregnant" woman to Vale's tp pick up the jewels. The problem is that Gabriel has the jewels and he is out with Tomás and is incommunicado. The henchman threatens to shoot Lucas if they don't get the jewels back. Gabriel returns and Quique gets his jewels back.
Pablo fulfills a request by Benicio: he tells Adriana that he was the one who asked Benicio to keep Diego away from her. Neither had any idea it would end in a beating. Adriana is outraged.Later she tells her father there is nothing going on between her and Diego.
Diego goes to see Felicitas to negotiate his debt with something other than modeling. She is interested in 1-2-10 nights of passion. He is not selling himself. Then it is either cash or posing. He has no money. She tells him to take off his clothes.
Gabriel tells Lucas and Vale that they have to get rid of her pregnancy as soon as possible. Vale goes to the hospital so they can stage her losing the baby. A nurse insists on taking her to an operating room.
Salma suggests that Lucas spend the night with her. He says he is not into it. She should have some consideration for him: somebody tried to kill him today. Tomorrow he has to deal with Vale's pregnancy. Salma is fed up.
Adriana unplugs her computer so Diego has to come in and fix it. He plugs it in and says he knows she unplugged it on purpose.
At the hospital, Lucas is trying to find out about information about "La fan". . Gabriel appears and tells him Vale has died.

For me, the funniest scene was when Vale and Lucas were trying to find Gabriel and Eloísa came by to chat. Vale tries to get rid of Eloísa ASAP by talking as fast as she can and suddenly Eloísa is talking just as fast and is gone.

Many thanks, Jarifa, for your "welcome back" message and, especially, for the marvellous recaps you've so generously been doing. I've loved them even before my trip, but during the trip they were invaluable.

LA DOÑA I missed half the show, but from what I remember, AG holds an awards ceremony on the expansive, expensive grounds of her mansion to hand out billboard-sized checks for millions to the lucky winners of the do-gooder sweepstakes. Daniel is there to get his. I think the other recipients were decoys, just to provide a justification for getting Daniel onto her property where she promptly tricks him into the swimming pool to rescue a conveniently staged drowning servant. Naturally he has to remove his wet clothes whence the tattoo is revealed not only to AG, but also to Leticia, remembers something about Rafael.
Somehow or other, Braulio gets to Yessy & Laz's new digs. He forces the confession that Moni is AG's daughter and is holding them at gunpoint with the clear intention of murder when our happy triplet of young ladies heads up to the mansion. Braulio is forced to give up his plans. I can't remember the rest.

I've been out of town the last few days, but did keep up with the show when I realized I could watch on my laptop. Yay! I have not seen last night's episode though. But the big developments from the last few days are:
Saul gets a license to legally carry, and then has neighbor guy get him a gun. He's determined to protect his family, protect Monica, and find his father's killer (he's added Matamoros high on the list of suspects). He's packing heat at AG's do-gooder event, and plans to scope out all his suspects.
Karen gets threatened by Rafael, via Gabino, to leave town, leave the Miguel case alone, and leave AG alone, or else...she'll be thrown in jail. Karen pushes back. She can't be bought and she won't back down. She's also throwing a lot of shade on an uncomfortable Daniel, but Saul truly believes he's a good man.
Ximena gets an unsuspecting Asucena to find out Monica's new address from Lydia and Margarita (Lydia wouldn't tell Ximena), and then gives the info to Braulio. Braulio already found out that Monica is Lazaro's daughter, while investigating him and Yesenia for AG. And now he's pretty sure that Monica is AG's kid, but he wants to confirm it. He does not tell AG about his suspicions, and in fact, is trying hard to isolate AG from everyone-- encouraging her hate of Monica, her distrust of her sister, and her anger at Saul. HE wants to be her #1.
AG has Matamoros follow Regina and finds out she and Felipe are an item. She confronts them and accuses them of having an affair while Felipe was married to AG. Felipe and Reg denies this, and Felipe reveals to Reg that AG had a prostitute killed and framed him, in order to blackmail him. Reg isn't ready to believe that. AG kicks Reg and all her stuff out of the mansion, and tries to buy Isabela off to get her to stay. Surprisingly, Isa chooses to go with her mom, but by their first night in the hotel, she's already whining about missing all her luxuries and AG benefits.
Lydia finds out who Diego really is, and ends their budding friendship/romance. Diego is sad/upset, and is hardening himself physically (working out) and emotionally (not letting himself be used by Isabel and Emiliano anymore and telling Isabel off).
Leticia is doing an expose on gangs of rich boys who rape women with impunity. One group in particular, the Tigers, was inspired by similar gangs in the past. One of their members regrets his actions and has ratted out the rest of the group (we see flashes of Daniel doing his good work), and the case is now in court. These gangs usually get tattoos that identify them. Leticia thinks about Rafael, that tattoo he used to have, and how he never speaks about his old life and friends in Veracruz. She's getting suspicious.

Thank you Jarifa for all the terrific recaps! The writers have gone to great pains to keep the people who know Carlos as Lucas' bro/Adriana's dad from seeing him when he comes to visit Eloisa as "Carlos Lopez", except for TWO glaring exceptions-- Miriam and Diego. Miriam met him on the boat when she and Vale rescued Jess, and Diego met him in the office, after he was beat up. They both should have lots of questions about "Carlos Lopez" and how Eloisa and he know each other.

a couple of minor details, I think the reason Saul had Jorge help get him a gun is all the redtape in getting one legally, including a 2 week wait.

a couple of other things I remember,
Braulio admits to Laz and Yesenia that this is his own agenda, and Yesenia convinces him it is in all of their best interest that AG never finds out about Monica, Braulio gives them 24 hours to get Monica out of the country.
Ximena going to Laz's new place and seeing Braulio's car, she gets Braulio to realize he is acting without thought, she also warns him that if he harms them she will tell all, this pretty much rips it with him.
Braulio also denies he is obsessed with AG, but admits that he has no feelings for his wife and son.

Oddly enough, though, one of the key things I missed was from last night's episode, which I saw :-( . I somehow failed to grasp that Braulio is acting on his own, not on behalf of AG, when he comes to see Laz and Yesenia. After reading your comments, I saw the light bulb flicker on over my head.

Juanita- Yes, Brau kind of is and isn't working on AG's orders. He's been ordered to find out everything he can about Monica by AG. But what he's found out is that Monica is Lazaro's daughter, and therefor AG's daughter. And he certainly doesn't want to tell AG that, because as I mentioned before, he's working hard to isolate AG to have her all to himself.

La Fan. Excellent recap, Jarifa! Generously accepting another man's baby as one's own is Eloísa's late husband's story, not Lucas's. The whole pretend miscarriage thing is kind of creepy. I don't believe Carlos when he says he didn't think Diego would end up beaten up. I liked how Adriana stood up to her father's attempts to control her life. And fortunately it doesn't look as if Quique is all that eager to kill Lucas (possibly because people would notice?)

Span Prof, I do not believe Carlos either, Diego getting beaten up was exactly what he wanted. Yes, fortunately for Lucas, it seems like Quique just wants to disappear into his sewer now. I got a kick out of the henchman telling Lucas he was just like a cat with many lives, but his were running out.

I've noticed this in so many novelas, when a character finally comes into his or her own, their hair style improves enormously.

Letitica has done research and is preparing a report on rapist gangs and suspects her husband might have been a former member of the gang in Vera Cruz that raped and killed many women.

LA DOÑA GoBluefan, I believe she saw it when she awkwardly stumbled into the room where Daniel was getting dressed. Daniel knows she saw it and covered it quickly with his shirt. Thats why the little discussion with Rafa was so urgent. These former Monkees are starting to do the math.

LA FAN #19 2/10/17 Friday
Of course, Vale is not really dead. It turns out to be a mix up between patients. In the meantime, both Lucas and Gabriel have a sobering moment and realize just how much Vale really means to each of them and admitting they both were just starting to love her. Vale pops up telling her story of catching a lift on a passing gurney as she was left out in the hall by a nurse. She ended up having really good tacos in the cafeteria and grabbing a nap in an empty patient room. Lucas and Gabriel are in clear competition for her attention. Lucas goes out and tells the press about the miscarriage quoting a passage from one of his novelas. When they leave there is a crowd of fans chanting "Vale." One over exuberant man stands out because he tells Vale he is HER fan: a fan of the fan. Lucas is jealous. Later, Lucas admits to Vale he knew Lucía very well. Lucas does not want to leave after thinking he had lost Vale today. This is the first time Vale really feels he loves her.
The dance continues: Adriana wants Diego back in her life so she continues rigging situations that need Diego to come fix them. This time it is a wet spot under her desk that she created by emptying two bottles of water. While Diego is under her desk working next to and looking at her legs, her mother stops by to talk about the divorce she will not give and her latest model. Diego makes sure he stays hidden. They leave. Carlos comes in next looking for some papers. Diego recognizes him as his mother's friend. Carlos identifies himself as the owner's chauffer. Diego finds the empty water bottles and blames Adriana. He asks her about her dad's chauffer. Why? He is involved with his mother. Diego runs into Felicitas in the cafeteria. Adriana calls Diego later about a problem in her kitchen. Diego is at a party. The next day, Diego hands Benicio his resignation.
Eloísa supports her friends Jessica and Miriam in their pursuit of her sons. Miriam and Jessica move in together. They plan a "big" party. They invite Miguel and Diego. When the guys get there, it is just the four of them some alcohol and dancing. Jessica and Diego leave to go to a bar. Miriam tells Miguel how she feels.Reluctantly, he allows himself to be kissed and wakes up in her bed the next morning.
Carlos comes to tell Eloísa that he is divorcing his wife. Things are heating up when the other "Carlos López" arrives newly evicted with nowhere to go. Eloísa will help him.
Rodrigo is happy that his mother is not with Lucas. Tomás is upset with all the lies his mother is involved in.
Agustín convinces Salma that he is there for her.They start a relationship and post a video . Salma's ex escapes. She is afraid it is the end for her. She never visited him or sent him money or food or anything! Agustín will protect her. The ex texts her he is coming to see her. Salma gets an envelope slid under her door with photos that were taken of her. She is spooked. Gabriel has come by to try to talk her into staying with Lucas and ends up staying the night to help a friend in need. The next morning the ex shows up saying he bets "Hilda" has missed him. Gabriel is still there.
Lucas has made himself right at home. He stayed the night at Vale's and is using the washroom while Vale is showering. Surprise! when she sees him and he her!

One part that I especially liked in this episode was when the fans greet Lucas and Vale as they leave the hospital. Lucas assumes they're all his fans, but apparently they're all Vale's. When she gets back home, she's carrying several bouquets of flowers from them. Lucas is clearly jealous, and Vale is surprised and delighted at his jealousy.
One question: was Lucas in the process of peeing when Vale pulled back the shower curtain and saw him? It's hard to see why else she and he would have been so stunned and embarrassed.

I wish Diego would just tell Adriana that he is one her mother's models, that she's constantly hitting on him, and he can't stop modeling for her since he owes her money. I so appreciate him playing hard to get with Adriana though. It's fun watching her try so hard to seduce him. He's got more will power than I expected.
Love that Vale now has her own fans, but I hate that she was drawn into this whole fake pregnancy/miscarriage ploy. Tomas was right to be upset and disappointed by all the lies. I hope it's the last falsehood Vale will be pulled into.

La Fan. Excellent recap, Jarifa, as usual! Yep, Lucas was indeed peeing! Talk about intimate! Speaking of all those fans, a sympathetic woman who has supposedly just had a miscarriage is going to get a lot of attention and compassion. Lucas has now shared one of the most important parts of his life with Vale--that he knew and loved Lucia. Owner's chauffeur! Pretty clever, Carlos! But what if Diego meets the real chauffeur? Also, I wonder if Diego's resignation will last.

there are so many little details woven into the story, loved it when Vale appears alive with Lucas and Gabriel on each side of her trying to hug and kiss her, Lucas puts his hand on Vales cheek so Gabriel can't kiss it while he kisses the other cheek.
also liked the little ladylike thing Salma did, not bending over to pick up the packet on the floor, with gentleman Gabe rushing over to get it.
and funny when Salma asks Gabe to spend the night.

La Fan. deb: I think that the only thing that was confirmed was that Gabe wasn't Tomas's father, though Salma paid the detective to say it was. I don't think anyone else was tested. Yep, Carlos Lopez was the fake name Carlos used. Wonder what the his chauffeur's real name is?
La Doña, Friday Episode, Part 1:
After Saul overhears AG speaking to Matamoros about making sure Saul doesn’t find out she killed “him” in self-defense, he assumes the “him” they are speaking of is his father. They were in fact speaking of Cespedes, but Matamoros doesn’t come clean when Saul points a gun at him, nor does AG. AG swears again to Saul that she didn’t kill Jaime. After what he heard, Saul is more sure than ever that she and her peeps were behind his father’s death, and he intends to get his revenge, just like she’s intent on getting her revenge on the people who wronged her. AG asks if he’s declaring war. Saul affirms that. “This is the end of our relationship, and the beginning of our war.”
Last episode, Lazaro and Yesenia pointed out to Brau that he was better off leaving them alone and letting them leave town, if he didn’t want AG to find out that he not only found her daughter, but then killed her. Now they try convince Monica to leave. Laz suggests an impromptu trip to Italy. Monica is confused and incredulous about where all the money is coming from. Laz finally tells her part of the truth. He tells her that her mother, who swindled him years ago, gave him a million dollars. But he warns Monica that she is a bad/dangerous woman, surrounded by criminals, and he refuses to tell Monica who she is. (It really should be easy to figure out, as much as Laz has freaked out about her spending time with AG, when he supposedly has never met her.) Monica fights with Laz and Yesenia about this for much of the episode. Monica wants to meet her face to face! Yesenia refuses to be put in the middle. Just as she keeps Monica’s secrets (that she’s in love with Saul), she keeps Lazaro’s secrets.
Leticia tells Valeria that she suspects Rafael was part of one of those rape gangs she’s currently investigating. Val thinks she’s crazy, when Rafael has been the ideal husband and partner. Leti tries to get the thought out of her head and play the supportive wife, but later that night when curled up in bed with Rafa, it’s obvious she can’t let go of her theory.
Meanwhile, Rafael is meeting with Daniel to figure out if AG is the one hunting the Monkeys. Rafa can’t wrap his head around that thought. He makes a valid point that if AG is hunting the Monkeys, and Daniel is being hunted too, and he ONLY participated in one assault/their last one (of AG, her bf, and her family), then it must have to do with that assault. But it can’t be, because Daniel killed that girl, right? Daniel lies and says he killed the girl. The sister, however, did get away. In any case, whoever is hunting them has got to be rich and powerful, and all the girls they assaulted were poor and powerless. They talk themselves round in circles, and can’t come to any definitive solutions.
Braulio continues to blow smoke up Ximena’s butt to keep her on his side. He promises to help her find a job (since AG has her blackballed).
Margarita moves out of Azucena’s place and into Lydia’s place. Now it’s just Azucena and Ximena. The see the news of AG’s charity event, and realize that Saul’s organization was honored, and that’s where he was that morning. Azucena is pissed. She knows AG put the whole thing on just to draw Saul back into her web. Azucena takes off to confront AG, and orders Ximena NOT to say anything to Saul. “I trust you.”
Karen tells Saul about Gabino’s threats to arrest her if she doesn’t leave town. He tells her about Gabino assaulting Monica, and that he’s sure Rafael and AG’s peeps are behind trying to intimidate Karen. He’s ready to take them all down. Karen’s on board, until she realizes that Saul intends to break the law to get justice and to keep his peeps safe. She’s going to stick to the law.

Yesenia tells Felipe about Braulio’s attack and that he knows Monica is AG’s child. He tells her AG knows he and Regina are an item, and kicked her and Isabel out. Yesenia asks Felipe to hire bodyguards to follow Monica, without her knowing. She also asks him to make sure the whole world finds out all the dirt on AG, if she and Lazaro end up dead. He agrees.
AG tells Braulio about Saul’s declaration of war, but she’s not going to let him get in the way of her plans for revenge, which include not just all the Monkeys, but: Yesenia for letting her take the fall for Jaime’s death; Felipe for turning her sister against her; Ximena for initiating the war between AG and Jaime and breaking their Spain agreement; and Monica, whom she won’t allow to have Saul. Brau goes out of character, and tries to steer AG away from harming his partner in crime, Ximena, and AG’s unknown daughter, Monica. But AG is not in a forgiving mood. She wants to get them ALL! She reiterates her order for him to find Monica, but NOT touch her. SHE gets to hurt her female enemies. She doesn’t like for Brau to touch them, like when he beat up Yesenia.
Lazaro tells Monica about how her mother swindled and manipulated him. She never loved him, but she gave him the greatest gift—Monica. Monica wonders if she has more family out there—half sibs, cousins, etc. She wonders who she looks like. She just wants to meet her mother. Laz still refuses. Later, Yesenia urges Laz to tell Monica about his illness, but he doesn’t want to see her suffer.
Azucena shows up at AG’s house and cusses her out for killing her husband and continuing to try to pursue and manipulate her son. AG assures her that she and Saul are OVER, and that he’s actually trying to get revenge on her. Azucena calls out AG for being alone, childless, cold, empty and barren. She obviously hits a raw nerve. She calls AG sick with power. “You’ll have to kill me first, before you harm my son!” AG denies killing Felipe, but Azucena points out that his days were numbered from the day AG tried to steal his property, framed him for a crime, had him thrown in jail, and humiliated him publicly. AG turned him into a man filled with rancor, resentment, and anger. AG can’t win that point, but she points out that Jaime wasn’t the only one full of resentment. She drops two truth bombs on Azucena: 1) Ximena was the one who purposely started this war by turning down the generous offers AG’s lawyer made, which gave in to all Jaime’s demands; and 2) Ximena folded to AG’s blackmail (money and a job) and left for Spain because AG got proof that she aborted Saul’s baby without telling him. BOOM!
Rafael tries to sneakily find out from AG why she was paying such special attention to Daniel. She sticks to her story about trying to get in good with Saul. She tells Rafael about Regina and Felipe, and tells him it’s time to destroy/get rid of Felipe for good!
Felipe meets with his reporter friend to ask his help in cleaning up his image, the right way. He wants to go back into politics. The reporter thinks he can do this by publicly working with causes related to alcoholism. Everyone loves a good redemption story. But when Felipe mentions he also wants to make it public that Regina, his ex-sister-in-law, is now his lady, his friend balks. The public will NOT accept that. Felipe suggests she could be his campaign manager, to get people used to seeing him by his side. Reporter dude is still skeptical. Felipe thinks that having the support of the president of his party will help him greatly. And once he’s back in the congress, he intends to finish AG!
Monica passes one of her obvious secret bodyguards (dressed all in black) on her way into the foundation. Saul stops her, wanting to catch up since they haven’t spoken since she moved out of the vecinidad. Monica explains that they might soon even be leaving the country, to get away from her evil mother who has found them. But Monica wants to meet her.

Felipe suggests she could be his campaign manager, to get people used to seeing him by his side. Reporter dude is still skeptical. Felipe thinks that having the support of the president of his party will help him greatly. And once he’s back in the congress, he intends to finish AG!
Monica passes one of her obvious secret bodyguards (dressed all in black) on her way into the foundation. Saul stops her, wanting to catch up since they haven’t spoken since she moved out of the vecinidad. Monica explains that they might soon even be leaving the country, to get away from her evil mother who has found them. But Monica wants to meet her.

Yeah, Isabel is going to crack soon and go back to the mansion, her fancy school, and her fun times with Emi, who's been doing a lot of drugs lately. I can't believe she's been whining so much about the rather nice hotel she and her mom are staying in.
I was also surprised by the somewhat respectful way Brau was treating Ximena. Now that she helped him find Monica and Laz, I don't see what purpose she serves him. Does he genuinely like her, want to sleep with her, think she's still useful? I just don't know.

I had long ago concluded that Braulio didn't have a shred of decency, but perhaps he does. That's still not clear, however. His motivations re Ximena may be tainted, and as for Mónica, he may just want to prevent AG from taking vengeance on her and THEN finding out that she was her daughter and that Braulio either knew or should have known.
I'm unclear about Felipe's claims about the president of the party. Wasn't that the guy Felipe met with in the previous episode? If so, he didn't seem all that supportive. Felipe could barely get him to say he'd think about what Felipe was proposing. IIRC, he left Felipe's place without giving him any real assurance. Yes, spoiled, stupid Isabela wants to return to her life of luxury and Emiliano. I'm guessing that she'll be seriously injured--perhaps even killed-- in a car crash caused by Emiliano, and all the people who wrongfully prevented him from being punished for the accident with Lydia will now see what they've made possible.

First it was to 'protect' Monica from AG, but if there is ever a time to tell AG about her supposed dead daughter it would be when she is trying to permanently removed the 'supposed' from said daughter.
Monica, come on use your detective skill. You have been smart and deductive so far, please dont suddenly come down with a case of telenovela stupidity.
