Vino el Amor #67; Thursday February 2, 2017: No sense or sensibilities, or "How to fight over the same woman"

We open where we left off yesterday with Miguel and Erica in town caught by David. As David leaves, he tells Erica to give his regards to her father, but he does not look very happy. Erica remarks, “So what’s his problem?” Miguel say, “I guess he just didn’t like seeing us together.” They say their goodbyes because Miguel says he has to get back to work.

Luciana and Marta continue their conversation outside the employees’ house while Marta gardens. Luciana remarks how much easier it would be to be friends with Fernanda if Tia DisGrace wasn’t around being a bad influence.

Perla and Juan continue talking in Juan’s office. Perla makes mention of Miguel and how the boss will fire him for helping the undocumented girl. Juan tells her she needs her cell phone because he needs to be in constant contact with her. She says she lost it in the employees’ house and can’t find it. She asks him for money to get a new one and he hands over the cash. She asks if Mark is still his friend and Juan asks why. Perla says she is afraid of him. “No matter”, Juan says, “He’s locked up in jail right now and I’m going to help him out.” Perla says, “What happened?” Juan says, “That moron came over to attack Susan here and David called the police and they hauled him off to jail.” “No, you’ll get in trouble with the boss because he’s good friends with Susan. Juan says he really doesn’t care about what David thinks. He needs Mark to help him to avenge for this land that once belonged to Juan’s father. Juan says that it’s because of David’s family that he doesn’t own this land. Juan’s father had too many debts and finally committed suicide over it and so that makes David responsible for Juan’s father’s death, according to Juan. Then David’s family bought the land, the land that is rightfully his and Juan is going to make sure he gets it back and doesn’t care if he has to cheat and steal his way back to the land. Juan says he plans to continue his father’s dreams.

Juan makes “mention” that Mark killed El Coyote. This makes Perla very troubled. She closes the shades and yells at Juan. “How is it that he killed him? I knew he was a murderer and you told me he was okay.” Juan tells her to quiet down. Perla pleads with him to not having anything to do with Mark.

David is in his patio and Cesar comes walking up asking what happened with Susan. David explains that Mark came by and tried to take Susan by force. David says he put Mark in his place and called the police. He’s pressing charges for trespassing and is making sure that Susan files domestic abuse charges on Mark. The thing is that David asked to help with the legal work (bad idea Dave!) and Cesar is telling him so! Cesar advises David that he should not be putting Juan in the position of being against his own friend. Anyway, David says to Cesar that at least Susan understands that we all care about her here. Cesar says that he imagines that Susan is probably feeling a little sad over her breakup with Tano as well. David says, “Well hopefully, this will all pass over soon.”

Changing the subject, Cesar asks David how he is doing. David say, “Great, everything is going well. With the children, it’s better than ever! The children even made an agreement that they would each try to get along better with both DisGrace and Luciana.” Cesar says, “Wow, this is really good news! Maybe this will help in your decision making here.” David says, “Well with Grace it was just a fleeting moment. But with Luciana, I really love her.” Cesar asks what his next move will be. David says, “Well, if things keep going this well, if my kids are good and there is harmony, then it will be much easier to make a decision. All this time I’ve forgotten about myself, but things will change now.” He thanks Cesar for his help and friendship. Cesar says, “No problem, I’m over my tantrum.”

As Cesar leaves, Miguel comes walking up and David questions why he was with Erica downtown. Miguel is not too happy about that and they argue about Miguel’s loyalty to the vineyard. He says that what happens when he’s off the vineyard is his business and Erica is his friend. Miguel tells David that he pays more heed to what DisGrace says and what Juan says and he’s tired of it, because he and the workers are the ones taking care of the vineyard. David says, “If you have a problem with Juan, come tell me about it. If Grace hadn’t bailed me out here in the vineyard, we might not be here anymore. David thinks that Erica is just trying to play Miguel to get information from him. Miguel says he is there working because he loves the land there. Miguel is disgusted that it seems that after all this time, David does not trust him.

Marta and Luciana continue the conversation in the kitchen with Marta remarking that she would be very happy to see Luciana and Fernanda get along well. Then she sends Luciana upstairs to get something from the bedroom. While Luciana is upstairs, Gutierrez just barges in with a huge bouquet of red roses. He says in a very laughable “gringo” accent, “Perdona me?” (Yeah buster, dream on!) Marta is angry, so angry she is crying and just seething. She throws the flowers down and tells him to go to hell and get out. Gut tries to grab Marta and pull her close and they argue. She tells him to get out because he broke her heart. His face only serves to remind her of losing her daughter and husband all those years ago. She cries and says not to touch her because he’s a monster, just like Lilian. Finally Luciana comes down the stairs, hits him and they are both screaming at him to get out. Luciana takes her mother in her arms to comfort her.

Sonia must be some chef! She made a Food Network worthy plate of what appears to be filet mignon and grilled asparagus. She places another platter of goodies next to him and tells him how much she cares for him. Bobby is grateful as he is eating his meal and tells her she brings him good feelings. Of course he has to tell her that he loves Marta’s food more, but he does tell her that her food is very good too. Sonia tells him how much she cares for him and was worried about him. Bobby tells her that he likes her too. (And is this a snack before dinner, because it looks like dinner is very soon.)

Marta is setting the table in the big house and Fernanda asks why she seems tired. Fernanda starts to help Marta set the table when Lilian comes out and tells Fernanda that this is Marta’s work, not hers. Fer tells Grandma to stop being that way but Lil turns around and starts to walk out.  As they are setting the table together, Fer asks why Marta is looking so sad. Marta says, “Because Gutierrez came looking for me today. He just won’t quit.” “Seriously?” says Fernanda. “Just don’t pay him any more attention”. Of course Lil is listening by the door and she turns around and mocks Fernanda’s last sentence. She lays into Marta that she is poisoning Fer’s mind and tries to say that Gut is a very good man. Fer just looks at Lil and shakes her head. The argument continues and finally David walks in and wants to know what is going on. Fer tells him the story about how Gut hurt Marta and Lilian counters that she doesn’t want Marta talking smack about her friend Gutierrez. Fer sticks up for her Nana and asks her dad to ban Gutierrez from the house.

David then makes the decision and tells Lilian, “I know you and Gutierrez are friends, but I just don’t want him at my house anymore.” He explains that not only is it because of how he treated Marta, it’s the whole immigrant situation, plus taking into account that he was responsible for deporting Marcos and Luciana. Lilian finally defers to David.

Down at the laboratory, Susan is busy peering through her microscope when Miguel comes by to visit. Miguel is hopping mad that the boss questioned his relationship with Erica and the competition. Susan says, “I’m not taking sides with David, but I find it kind of strange that you would out supporting the competition, and you should be careful.”  Miguel says, “What me? It’s not strange for me because I would never do anything to hurt this business.” Susan say, “RELAX MIGUEL, all I’m telling you is that you have to be careful, that’s all. You just don’t want to have any problems resulting from this.” Miguel says, “And what’s more, Luciana is now jealous of Erica. But the boss seems to think that I made friends with Erica so I could give her information about what is going on here.” Susan inquires, “And after all this, why is it that you care to be friends?” Miguel angrily says, “Because I have the right to be friends with whoever I want to!”

Susan discreetly asks Miguel, “Are you sure that you don’t “like” Erica?” Miguel denies it and says he only has eyes for Luciana. Susan goes on to explain that sometimes life changes and what you think is love, doesn’t turn out to be love at all. Miguel continues to say how much he loves Luciana. Susan goes on, “Yes, but it appears that your relationship with Luciana just isn’t working very well right now.” Miguel continues to say that he just needs to work at it that much harder. But Susan, giving good advice says that you shouldn’t have to work that hard because it makes the other person feel pressured. And that is what Luciana is feeling right now, just very pressured in the relationship. Susan also says, "I love both of you. But you really need to think this through and decide whether you both have a real future together. I do speak from experience.”

DisGrace and Bobby are talking in the patio having what appears to be a forced and uncomfortable conversation because, she obviously does not know how to talk with little boys. She says, “so the things you like are soccer (fut) and video games?” Bobby says yes. Grace says, “is there nothing else?” Bobby says “No” and she just looks at him blankly. Then she says, “well I have played a lot with you and I’m sure going to miss you when I go to Spain. I just love you so much, Bobby. I really suffer when I think about how you don’t like me.” Bobby says it’s not that he doesn’t like her, it’s just that they don’t like the same things. DisGrace says, “Well now that you have told me what you like to do, I can show you my paintings and we are going be really good friends.” But Bobby is saved by Luciana’s entrance into the patio and he goes running to her gives her a big hug. You can tell that the DisGrace (AKA succubus) is not pleased.

DisGrace gets up very annoyed and says, “If you’ll please excuse us, Bobby and I were having a nice conversation.” Luciana says she didn’t mean to interrupt, she just came by to play with Bobby. But DisGrace says it’s about time to eat and Bobby should go inside and have his dinner. Bobby leaves to go inside and DisGrace chides Luciana over her interruption. Luciana says, “I know what you are up to. You are playing around pretending to be Bobby’s friend. But Bobby is a smart kid and he will figure out that you are nothing but a hypocrite. If you are going to try to fool him, he will discover your ploys. So if you are just using him to get close to David, it won’t work. He’s a nice kid and you can’t manipulate him. If you hurt him, you will have me to face up to.”  DisGrace answers, “Hey, when I get through with Bobby, he will be on my side under my control and he won’t need you anymore.” Luciana responds that she just wants to see David’s children happy, but she knows DisGrace is nothing but a hypocrite and sooner or later David will figure out the truth about her. But DisGrace says, “The only person here who stands to lose everything, is you!” Then she walks off like she won that battle.

At the evening time, Leon sees Sonia at the employees’ house and Sonia is still mad at him and tells him that he forgot about her. Leon explains it had to do with the undocumented girl they were taking care of and to please forgive him. She asks him about the book and León doesn’t have the answers. She turns around and is still ticked off with León.

Lil and Gutierrez meet in a restaurant and Gut tells Lil that Marta humiliated him and that he Marta is now in his past. He’s sorry about everything and tells her that it’s all over with Marta. Lilian says that “you can’t trust these people, they are like uncivilized animals.” Gut tells Lil that she was right and is so sorry. Lil says they can rebuild their relationship promises to call all her friends to get them to vote for him again. She also tells him that he is not welcome at David’s house because of David taking Marta’s side. She takes out her red fan and begins to fan herself. (Must be a hotflash).

Juan comes to David’s office to speak to him about a big fine they received. He says that this wouldn’t have happened but for the fact that David trusts his employees so much and they have so much freedom. He begins to explain….

Next, León and Miguel come in at David’s request. David is very angry with them because they took in this undocumented girl. Seems that is the reason David now has to pay a $10,000 fine! León tried to take the blame and wants to know if they will go to jail because of this. Miguel says they were going to tell him and they had the obligation to tell him about her. After all Miguel is the vineyard chief and it is his responsibility to report anything like this to him. Miguel tries to explain they were in the middle of the Vendimia and there were so many things to do. David said, “If you would have come to me, maybe I could have helped and done something about it. Otherwise I wouldn’t have received this huge fine!” León is upset and nervous and says he will pay for it. David angrily says, “The point isn’t about who pays for it. The point is that you put the whole vineyard at risk by doing this.

[Now I don’t believe a word of this. I think that Juan must have forged this document to look like a fine so that Juan could collect the money himself, after all we know that Juan is cheating David at every turn. You just don’t receive a big fine for an undocumented person squatting on your property without your knowledge, especially after Gutierrez says she can have “amnesty”, the Feds are not going to fine an employer unless he employed her. The Feds are not going to fine a land owner for other employees giving humanitarian aid. David would have to have been notified by the authorities, arrested and a court date given where he would come before a judge and have his day in court. The $10,000 is the MAXIMUM fine for SMUGGLING illegal aliens.]

DisGrace is on the phone and struts into Juan’s office while she talks to Joselo. She says something about signing a contract. Juan walks in during the conversation. She tells Juan she is going to Spain to fulfill a contract and check on her profits. Juan and DisGrace go back and forth about money she owes him and he blackmails her by saying he’s going to call Joselo and tell him about DisGrace’s true intentions if she doesn’t what he wants and gets him the money he wants from her.

In the distillery, Fer finds Tano and brings him some home baked cookies to make him feel better. Fer tells him she is glad they are friends and he can talk to her anytime. Susan sees them while she walks in the background and walks away. They talk a while enjoying themselves but later, Luciana walks up wanting to know why Fernanda is there. Fer asks her not to tell her father. She offers to walk her back up to the house. Fer does not want her dad to find out that she was there with Tano alone. Luciana agrees that Tano is a good guy and she knows they were not doing anything wrong and advises her that it wasn’t right that she was there late with Tano. Luciana is kind and understanding with Fer and offers to walk her back up to the house and they leave together.

Then David talks to Miguel alone. He accuses Miguel of not respecting him anymore and not liking his job anymore. Miguel says, “I’ve always loved these lands. Well, I guess there is nothing left for me here.” David says, “Then have it your way. There is nothing left to say.” They continue to argue and Miguel says all he really wanted to do was help León because León is his “cuñado” (brother in law). They argue about all this being really about Luciana. David says, “I’m tired of your stupid talk. If I’m not with Luciana, it’s because I am not able to.  If things were different and I had your freedom, things would be a lot different. Miguel accuses David of wanting to get rid of him. David says if he wanted to run him off he would, but he hasn’t. David says, “Instead we are embroiled in the conversation that is not going to get us anywhere.” Miguel says, “I just don’t see it that way. It’s clear to me that this fight is all about Luciana. We are both in love with the same woman!” David admits, “Yes, Miguel you are right. I love Luciana. I want to be with her. And I want to fight for her love.”

I have been trying to keep up with this TN. Cynthia you did a good job on your recap.
So sad that Marta and Gut. are not together-they made a nice looking couple. But wonder if they will end up together-there's a thin line between love and hate.
Lil and Gut. appear to be a lot alike. LOL, so funny-Lil fanning with her red fan (must be a hot flash).
David needs to wise up about Juan. But glad that David is finally being honest about
his feelings for Luciana.
Fer wants to grow up too fast. Such a shame she is throwing herself at Tano.
Looking forward to more recaps. Keep up the good work.

Cynthia, this ebbed and flowed seamlessly. Fantastic recap and screen shots.

There were so many excellent lines including “She takes out her red fan and begins to fan herself. (Must be a hotflash)”. Most excellent.

“Sonia must be some chef! She made a Food Network worthy plate of what appears to be filet mignon and grilled asparagus”. I couldn’t identify what the components were so thank you for doing so. I love the little glint in Sonia’s eyes during any and all of her interactions with males, be it her handsome “senor” or sweet little Bobby. She genuinely cares for Bobby and while she is not at the top of his list, she certainly deserves honorable mention.

“But Susan, giving good advice says that you shouldn’t have to work that hard because it makes the other person feel pressured. And that is what Luciana is feeling right now, just very pressured in the relationship”. Wise words indeed. I loathe seeing Susan as the constant victim and am glad she was able to dispense solid advice. We might yet see the transformation into the strong, mature woman we caught glimpses of initially.

I must admit I was uncomfortable that David was challenging Miguel's motives, and doing so rather harshly. Miguel was wounded to the quick. And while he has been smothering Luciana somewhat, David should never have called out Miguel on his loyalty. I can see where David might have thought Erica was using Miguel but he should have some confidence in Miguel, who has long earned that right.

I was totally scratching my head over Brian last night. The fool. Why on earth did he persist on trying to be absolved from guilt that Marta clearly cannot give him?? Did he really think she would melt into his arms and all would be forgiven? I also can't buy his running back to Lili. None of this makes any sense. If anyone has a plausible explanation, please share.

I'm sure Juan's version of his father's lands being stolen is not what happened at all. He's been poisoned all these years and has fallen into a treacherous trap with Mark, Lili and Graciela. The quicksand that surrounds him is getting worse.

Al, welcome! Nice to read your comments.

Thank you Cynthia!

Diana

Cynthia thank you for the retelling and.....

I agree Juan pulled this fine out of his butt. No one believes anything Juan says or does except David and Perla and they are idiots.

Plenty of times Miguel could/should have been dismissed because of his open hostility and threatening swagger towards David. So far David controlled himself and wish he had continued to do so. I felt sorry for Miguel for the first time but it is not all David's doing. You could see Miguel's despair contemplating an unrealized dream in the conversation with Susan and the argument with David. I just hope Miguel doesn't handle his the way Juan has.

How can Luciana choose to stay on the vineyard with David if Miguel leaves? Her default is always Miguel.

Thank you Cynthia for this and yesterday's recap! Having a busy week and not able to be on as much here or last night even watch the whole show, so much appreciated. I saw you are having the issues with your cable company. Charter Communications - which owns a few cable companies including Bright House in FL - had the Univision programming pulled by Univision over contract negotiations. Uni is basically playing hardball. Luckily I'm not on vacation right now or I'd be affected too. I know it sucks for people! Hopefully they'll work it out soon and put it back.

I'm not surprised that Gutierrez is back with Lillian.

Erika: please take Miguel AWAY!

Memo to Marta: Ramon is right there for you!

Thanks Much Cynthia, Great recap of a nap worthy episode. Your recap made it actually seem interesting.

Marta bawling and screeching FF
Marta and Luci talking about anything ZZZ
Luci's big plastic upper torso adornments struggling to escape.......pause...
Perla screeching and screaming....mute button
NoJuan fabricating documents showing that he invented the light bulb and the internet and David Dim Dummy giving him a bonus for exemplary contributions to wine making...what is this show? Cheech and Chong?

Knock knock
who's there
Dave
Dave's not here..............

If I were Soto I would refuse to play a man who has AntiBrain in his head.

He's not running Hewlett Packard or Boeing, this is a little one man winery .In two hours he should be able to do Payroll, Accounts Receivable, Payable, and his EPA quarterly. My neighbor's twelve year old would be more of a manager.

If DisGrace and NoJuan are successful it will be because he handed it to them on a silver platter.

So what does Brain have up his sleeve? It is ironic that someone here on Caray was laughing about Lilith telling "Everyone" to support him...no cancel that...er well yeah he is a good guy vote for.. whoops wait...a week ago. As though anyone in their right mind would believe her.

Ramon needs to go find a nice girl. Why rebuild a wreck that is totaled when for the same price you can pick up the same model with a clean vehicle history. Some people are too damaged to be fixed. Only after they do the repairs themselves are they of any interest to others.

OT Bright Hose sold out to Charter here in my part of Flori-Duh and now calls themselves Spectrum. Crooks. Deceptive advertising. Doubling cable bills all the while all over the TV touting themselves as or wonderful new caring loveable service provider.

Kirby - I have a vacation property down there and honestly, I'd take Bright House anyday anyway over my cable company in Virginia. They're cheaper and more responsive. Probably more of a commentary on Cox Cable than Bright House. I'm going to keep an eye on my bill now that this merger happened and they're part of Charter.

Thank you so much, Cynthia, for that detailed recap.

I have never seen a telenovela in which so many adults were trying to win the favor of a little boy. Both DIsgrace and Luci want to win him over in order to win @dadDAve. I did think that Sonia's reaction to Bobby's kiss was sweet.

I am calling BS on Dave's calling Miguel on the carpet after seeing him in town with Erica. WTH. Miguel isn't allowed to talk to someone from another vineyard? So, Miguel will !Dave, and Disgrace will take a plane to sPain, so...Hmmm...That !Eaves Dave and Luci home on the range. I am expecting a tryst in the wind cellar.

I was just thinking how beautiful that bouquet of roses was and how expensive it must have been when Marta started bashing GUts with it. I thought that Marta might actually forgive him in the future because the writers are making Guts beg and plead with her in every episode. . However, if he can return to LIlian at this point,he does not deserve Marta's forgiveness. OH...MAYBE Marta is pregnant!! That would be an interesting twist.

No...I was hurrying..That was supposed to be "Miguel will leave"..I shouldn't try to multitask.

Or..The wine cellar..This tablet is even too tiny for my tiny fingers..Sorry.

Thanks for the recap Cynthia. You made interesting reading of an otherwise uninteresting series of events.
Helen

Thanks, Cynthia!

So, Smelly "I'm not a killer" Mark is the one who killed Coyote? Or... is Juan really the killer, but doesn't want Perla to know that? Either way it's ridiculous that either of these two guys (who have no murdering experience that we know of) managed to off a professional.

I am very disappointed that Gut went back to Lil. I thought he was better than that. Yes Kirby that was me last week or the week before trying to figure out what Lil would say in the next round of phone calls. I don't especially like people telling me how to vote in the first place, but if that advice came from a "friend" like Lilian who kept changing her mind, I'd block her phone number.

Marta, a grown ass woman, acting as if Brian took advantage of her is laughable. Soon as she eyeballed him and thought it fun to use him to tweak Lilian and sample the goods this one was on her. Brian didn't force her to fall in love while poor Marcos's ashes still warm.

David is foolish to pick this fight with Miguel not knowing how Luciana even feels about him. He's telling everyone that can walk upright he's in love but not her. David still thinks their early agreement is still in effect when Luciana ditched it after the earring theft and she began to encourage Miguel.

Tofie: Gutierrez is likely to become County Sheriff at this point.

We're likely to be waiting for MONTHS for the anvils hitting the villains including FerBrat, Carito, Perla & Co.,

Kirby: Karma will be clearing her throat & ready to sing in the next several months before this TN ends.

I think that MIguel's crush on LUci is starting to fade. Just go to San FRancisco with ERica, MIguel , and walk away from these people.

Miguel went to San Francisco twice and never made it downtown so I understand his frustration may prompt him to take another route.

Tofie..I think that MIguek has just tried to make the trip with the wrong girl! Erica seems like a girl who really wants to go to San Francisco with MIguel. #iloveeuphemisms

Thanks, Cynthia. Fab recap. I appreciate the background detail on David’s bogus fine over Ingrid. Now I get that it’s probably totally fabricated by Juan.

Uh, David, so it’s okay for your mother-in-law to be close to the competitor, but Miguel can’t be friends with his daughter?

I’ve been rooting for Gut, though it was ridiculous that he thought pretty flowers and another perdóname would work. Hombre, those might work for showing up late for a date or forgetting a birthday. But deporting a husband and daughter and then keeping mum about it before the nookie? You got to dig deeper for that. So I shouldn’t be surprised that you simply gave up and returned to being Lilian’s pet.

Yay, David is ready to lucha por amor. Maybe this is when the ratings went up in Mexico.

Welcome, Al!

"I’ve been rooting for Gut, though it was ridiculous that he thought pretty flowers and another perdóname would work. Hombre, those might work for showing up late for a date or forgetting a birthday. But deporting a husband and daughter and then keeping mum about it before the nookie? You got to dig deeper for that"...

Niece, perfectly stated. I totally agree! I did wonder if he was on the road to redemption, even though I thought the sin unforgiveable. Even if he had made a much quieter attempt to woo Marta back, say, giving her more than a day or two to let her rage and hatred might subside a bit, I didn't see her ever going back with him. I did think he might have died in order to save someone else. That may still happen (speculation no spoiler). It makes a bit more sense that his stroll down the unbeaten path of salvation was momentary at best. It does make my skin crawl that he went back to Lili. I hope they go off the cliff together. Blech.

Diana

I really think that Carito is redeemable. Because we have seen evidence that she has a heart, I don't think she is all that bad. I think Perla is the one who is a bad influence over her and she just needs to stand up for what is right. As for Fernanda AKA "Ferbrat", if it weren't for Tia DisGrace, I think she would be a much nicer person. But she thinks DisGrace is the coolest aunt in the world and has always loved her, she is highly influenced by her. I'm just waiting for the day she finds out what her Tia DisGrace did to her mother.

I get frustrated with this story because the writers take such liberties with how they perceive our laws here in the USA. With this $10,000 "fine" David received through Juan, he doesn't even flinch at the fact that he was never arrested and never saw a Federal agent come in to assess the situation. The writers must not understand "due process" when it comes to our laws. I have no idea what the laws are in Mexico, but I hear the Federales kind of do what they please and there is a lot of palm greasing going on.

The law is here:
http://americanpatrol.com/REFERENCE/AidAbetUnlawfulSec8USC1324.html

The only thing Miguel and Leon are guilty of is offering humanitarian aid to a girl who was starving and mistreated. Then they took her to the police, so David as an employer is not guilty of doing anything. He didn't even employ her as she was merely squatting on his property as a trespasser, actually.

Thanks so much, Cynthia! Fabulous, as usual.

Marta, a grown ass woman, acting as if Brian took advantage of her is laughable. Soon as she eyeballed him and thought it fun to use him to tweak Lilian and sample the goods this one was on her. Brian didn't force her to fall in love while poor Marcos's ashes still warm.

Amen, tofie! That wailing and flailing and bending over double, give me a break! They need to let that tire sh** go! So overdone. Just knowing he was a po po and that he had once been an immigration officer should have been enough for her to call off the game and quench the hots she was getting for Gut. What a hypocrite Marta is!

And Gut going back to Lilian? Diana, there's no explanation. Careless writing or Gut, Lilian AND Marta are all morally bankrupt. . .Now, I ain't no baby myself but these flip-floppy geriatric love stories are leaving me cold.

Have to say I loved the content and the tone of the talk Luci had with Tano. The bit of mother wit she shared was on point: "Don't make something good look bad."

Great advice Susan gave Miguel, too. Miguel HAS been doing a lot of huffing and puffing but upon talking openly with Dave about their competition over Luciana, Miguel's plaintive confession was touching: He said the Patron knows he's loved Luciana since they were little kids and that he'd always looked up to the Patron and dreamed of having a family like his and now he can't believe that the Patron is his rival for Luciana. Miguel's bluster was cut, for once, and he seemed on the edge of tears. He must feel betrayed by both Luciana AND David. He knows Luci isn't that into him and the reason is El Patron.

Miguel, time for some balm called "Erica."

Now, if Dave is ready to fight for Luci's love, the first one he has to fight is Fer. I think Luci having caught Fer out late at the vat room cozying up to Tano and promising not to tell her Dad may take some fight out of Fer. Not that Luci will blackmail her but, in the same sensitive way she talked to her today, Luci will be able to reason with her and call her out on her unfairness.

Thanks, Cynthia! Always a pleasure, always a treat!

Susanlynn: Better yet, Erika & Miguel need to catch a flight to Sacramento & don't come back!

Have to say I loved the content and the tone of the talk Luci had with Tano. The bit of mother wit she shared was on point: "Don't make something good look bad."

Luci had with FER

Lila..I agree with everything you said. I do think Miguel feels lost. The vineyard has been his only home since he was a boy, and he has been in love with his image of Luci since then, too. I think that he has been a valuable employee , and now he is facing the fact that everything he loved and wanted is gone...the girl, the job, the home. Time for a new dream, Miguel.

I, too, have had enough of the triangle from hell..Lilian, Gut, and Marta. Basta. Not interested. I took amigo Carlos..NEXT !!!!

OT..Lila..I left a late message for you on the previous recap.

"I took"..should be "to quote"..sorry..hurrying.

Thanks, Susanlynn, I'll go and look!

I actually DID like the 3 and a half nanosecond schoolgirl blush on Sonia when Sir Bobbyito bestowed a cheek peck.

That was a heartwarming scene with the two unofficial stars of the show. All these other thieves, liars and alley cats in heat do not interest me nearly as much.

Sonia is so freaky, I hope we see her bloom and end her loneliness somewhere, somehow along the way.

Tofie speak great wisdom for paleface.

"Miguel's plaintive confession was touching: He said the Patron knows he's loved Luciana since they were little kids and that he'd always looked up to the Patron and dreamed of having a family like his and now he can't believe that the Patron is his rival for Luciana".

Wow. Thank you for everything in context for us Lila. "Seeing" what was said made me feel for Miguel. "Miguel's bluster was cut, for once, and he seemed on the edge of tears" mirrored his exact reaction perfectly.

Amazing comments today all.

Thank you.

Diana

I just noticed something about this telenovela. Everyone is single. There are two widows, a widower, a separated couple headed toward divorce, and a guy whose wife left him (Is Adolfo separated? Divorced?). All the other characters have never been married. Is this a sign of the times? I know that Americans are getting married much later these days..both men and women.

SusanLynn you are on a roll today. We will have to take a second look at your Flake-O-Screen answers

Onward..It is a bit too late for crocodile tears from Miggy Biggie or PoPoGut. Miggie's blubbering BooHoo last night sure didn't fit with wanting to whip the (very benevolent I might add) boss's ass in almost every contact since Luci showed up. Should have been fired long ago. I do not believe in being a dictator but if someone does not have sense enough to correct things or leave on their own, then help them along with a pink slip. Miggyorama has known forever that there was "something" up with Luci and the boss, on both sides. That was his first clue to forget Luci or leave or convince her to leave. You don't light a bonfire, throw a bit of kerosene on for good measure, then complain how it is too warm for your liking.

I wish I had Bobby's phone number or at least could friend him on Farcebook. Or better, have some of his other precocious perceptive playmates meet DisGracie and then later confirm for him what we all know and I am sure Bobby suspects. Kids are smart, and know far more than they let on. I am still counting on Bobby to unmask DG.

Whoops..I forgot Ramon , another guy whose wife left him . Is he divorced? Separated? Was Cesar ever married?

When there is a triangle , someone always gets hurt. Two happy people and one brokenhearted one. I have always hated geometry.

The last time Luciana stood between Miguel and David he was ready to punch him and Luciana held him back. David is not blind and should have fired him however if Miguel leaves then Luciana will be angry with David and it will be hard for her to accept his justification. Luciana will be put in a position to decide what horse she backs. Stay at the vineyard and alienate Miguel or go with Miguel and I would hope put an end to David's unreciprocated fantasy. Perhaps we'll have Erika intercede and grease the wheel.

Nah, I'm staying with my empathy for Miguel in that scene yesterday. I really feel like he portrayed that shit got real for him last night. I don't think he really thought he could lose Luci but after her refusing to answer him about the Patron and David admitting openly that he "quiero-ed" Luci, it was like a punch in the gut. That kind of reaction doesn't seem unrealistic even given all the puffing himself up and protective posturing he's done. Especially after the talk with Susan: I don't think he ever considered that his life long love for Luciana might not be love or that the dream of having her might not come true. The actor did a great job and I really felt for Miguel.

Miguel, honey, like Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell said, "It takes to bay-bay-ay-ay. . .to make a dream come true!" Luci didn't buy into the dream!

David must know the vineyard is in trouble, he is moonlighting on daytime TV pitching Tio Nacho hair foof.

Susanlynn, I was about to say Cesar was married but then I realized I was thinking of the character he plays in a different novela. Hah! I think you're right. Jeesh! No good marriages to model after, no marriages period, no sage priests, just a bunch a folk bouncing off each other like a dang pinball game!

Cynthia--So glad your Spectrum troubles were resolved. We would certainly miss your presence here. This was a very intricate episode to recap. Too many conversations going on, some of which made no sense--or were cut off at the pass. Thank you. And especially for the clue the fine might be fake. It wouldn't have been that hard for the writers to thought-bubble Juan's intentions instead of us worrying our little heads over what stupidity for David to be fined the way he was. I sure hope D. doesn't pay it until he investigates a little further.

More later, maybe.

Couldn't think of anything else to add to all these wonderful comments. One thing I just can't take off my beanie for--Juan's revenge plans against David.

We learned about that probably not 10 episodes in from his own mouth and David's explanation. We're, what, 67 in, and it's just resurfacing? It's been what 12 + years he's been trying to ruin David? He should have tried the succinic acid several harvests in a row.

However, where would Juan have gotten the cash infusion necessary to buy the property at auction? Gracie wasn't around for a number of years. Oh, that's right, he's back on track now that he recently got an on-the-side-get-rich-quick scheme.

Also, I thought David had put Juan sort of "on probation" and he was supposed to report to Miguel and Susan. He seems to do whatever he wants and I don't see Sue or Mike reviewing his books. Susan keeps her eye trained on the microscope and Miggie's on Luci, Marta, Leon, Erika and David.

Have I told you all I'm getting tired of the snail's pace? Yes, I know I have. I started watching and reading the recaps, from the beginning, for A Que No Me Dejas a few weeks ago and more exciting stuff has happened in 50 episodes with a sterling cast, good writing and directing. Been lovin' it. So glad I decided to seek it out.

Hi, Anita! Yah, a lot of us have been griping about the pace in this thing. There are lots of good analyses of the plot and characters in the comments. One of my favorite's is tofie's take that Miguel is the real galan. I hope you get a chance to look at some of the past recaps.

And no, it can't touch Dejas for all the reasons you named above. OMG! Except for one (major) plot point, I'm all in.

Anywho, back to this one, it is the most love-starved novela I've ever seen. We've only gotten, I think, three pairings of people we'd rather not see getting jiggy with it, oh, make that four distasteful pairings: Two yucky (sorta) younger couples and two Geritol-esque tanglings. BOR-ING! Maybe we'll get some movement tonight but, for the most part this show suffers from creative constipation.

Great job, Cynthia.

I was watching Brian through his scene with Lillian and I'm not sure he isn't looking to get even with Lillian for this. I doubt he really wants to get jiggy with her unless he's working undercover for something. He can do better and I think he knows it.

He did underestimate Marta's emotions. What must his family life have been like?

Juan's story came right out of the script of LQNPA, another Castro production but with much better writing and a far better leading man.

That Mark is a killer should come as no surprise to anyone. At least Perla ratted him out to Juan about his intentions toward her although I don't expect her to benefit from it.

At yi yi, Lila----Creative Constipation. That should be on the sidebar. (I'm still laughing.)

Urban--Looking at Castro's productions since LQNPA, my opinion is that that was his apex (along with Teresa, just prior to LQ). He's lost his touch and has been tumbling downhill ever since, with Corona de Lagrimas, La Malquerida, Pasion y Poder and now Vino. Maybe he's slowing down, so the telenovelas slow down with him.

You know what, Urban, I was thinking that Brian's apology, declaration that he was giving up on Marta, and that Lilian was right sounded almost robotic. It didn't seem sincere. Maybe he's trying to get her to loosen up and say that she planned the whole deportation. Maybe he's taping her....eh! A long shot. It's just that he was so adamant that he would NEVER give up on Marta.

Anywho, maybe they'll let this storyline die because Marta stretching her gaping trap and bawling over Gut when she was not sincere in her "attraction" to him is ooold.

That was a nice verbal fight they had
About the feelings they both have for Lucy. The mig looked shocked. That was a good thing. He needed that, now maybe he'll shake himself out of the
Cloud he's been in since lucy's been back. He's still in "little boy in love land". Snap out of it man, she left that fairytail years ago. Grow up and Move on. Hes really hurt. Ok! Thank you Cynthia, outstanding as always.
