Vino el Amor #85 Thursday March 2, 2017: Vino el tiempo para avanzar (time to move forward)

We begin where we left off yesterday as David announces to DisGrace that he is planning to buy her out of their partnership and dissolve it. DisGrace is not happy about this and begins to protest. “What”, says DisGrace, “Are you saying that I’m just like Juan? How could you? I thought you said everything was fine with us. Oh, I see you are doing this because of the olive orchard thing.” David says, “I’ve already told you that I wanted to dissolve our partnership, it’s just the best thing to do.” DisGrace continues to whine, “But WHYYYYYYYYY……????” Dave explains, “Look, I’m doing this for my children because I don’t want them to have any problems later on down the line.” DisGrace replies, “Well do you really think I’d leave them unprotected?” (Yeah DisGrace, I DO think you’d take all their money and run with it.) Dave says, “No I don’t but things have changed and it’s clear to me that you cannot separate our professional and personal realms together. It’s just best that I do things this way.”

DisGrace is not satisfied, so she has to say, “Of course you are doing this for Luciana, right?” Dave says, “So what does that have to do with things? I already told you, we have had a lot of problems together and it’s my decision to do things this way. End of story!” DisGrace says, “Here I’ve helped you out and I thought I was doing you a favor, but boy was I being stupid. But fine! Get me those papers to sign, I don’t care anymore.”

Sonia approaches Marta in the kitchen while Marta is feeling down because of Gutierrez. Sonia tells Marta that it appears that Gut does not love Lilian but Marta. He doesn’t have time for Lilian. But Marta just says, “I’ll NEVER, ever, go back with him! Then she proceeds to walk out of the kitchen.

At the police department, one of Gut’s officers brings him some newspapers that report him as a racist. Gut gets the bright idea to make a charity event for the Latino community. And he will ask for Marta’s help!

DisGrace goes to Fer’s bedroom and says, “Where have you been?” Fer happily replies, “Oh I’ve been in the vineyard helping Tano and I had a wonderful time and learned so much about the vineyard work and stuff.” DisGrace then is upset and says, “What? What do you mean you were WORKING in the vineyard? For God’s sake Fernanda, you are too good to do vineyard work because you are the daughter of the owner and the future owner of this place. You are NOT a lowly employee and remember that! Do I make myself clear?” Fer looks puzzled and asks, “Are you aware right now Tía, that you are sounding just like Grandma?”

DisGrace tries to cover by saying, “Oh I’m so sorry Fer. I’ve just had such a bad day arguing with Luciana and then I had a run in with your father. Things have just gone from bad to worse here and I’m being accused of all sorts of things, the worst being about Bobby, and I can hardly take it anymore. But you Fer, you are still on my side, right?” She cries more crocodile tears and feigns being oh, so hurt. Fer gives her Tía a comforting hug, but DisGrace looks self-satisfied by how she is able to manipulate her sobrina. She keeps crying and has Fer eating out of the palm of her hand. Fer promises to support her Tía and thanks her for being there for them.

León comes up behind Sonia and says, “How is the good looking lady from the romance novels?” León thinks he’s being cute and nice, but Sonia is still upset with him. “What’s wrong?” Leon says. But Sonia turns to him and says “Nothing is wrong, there is NOTHING wrong. Oh alright, I don’t like sharing you at all! There I caught you with your little “Carito” and you were embraced with her. It sure looked like you were getting along with her very well.” León says, “But you don’t understand.” Sonia says, “But I do understand very well.” Leon goes on to explain that he paid back Carito the money he owed her for the fine. Sonia isn’t buying this and says, “So you give her little favors for it?”

Downtown, Luciana and Miguel run into each other and start talking. He tells Lu that he went to visit David about the Juan situation. Also says he’s been very busy and somewhat worried because Juan may show up at the SB vineyard. They hug and who shows up but Erica looking very miffed!

Luciana says she was just leaving. Mig explains that they were talking about Juan. Lu goes on to explain about how they reorganizing at the vineyard and such and then she leaves. Erica and and Mig get into an argument, she hands him the keys to their vehicle and she says she will get back on her own.

In the distillery, Ramón and Tano talk about Tano’s education. Tano has postponed his start for another semester. Ramon is wondering why Tano has changed his mind about going back to school because he wants to pursue other opportunities. Ramón asks if this has anything to do with Tano’s “affairs of the heart.” Tano says that he is falling in love. Ramon says, “You think you can fool your own father? Aren’t we talking about Miss Fernanda? Or am I wrong?” Ramón explains to Tano that she is the boss’s daughter and that changes everything. He hasn’t even asked the boss of he can date Fernanda. Tano promises that he will talk with the Patrón after Fernanda passes her college entrance exams. Tano says to trust him that his relationship is different than the one he had with Susan and he’s really happy now. Ramón kind of shakes his head and tells him to be careful because not only can he lose his love, he can lose his job there.

Tano goes to discuss the situation with Miguel too and Miguel gives him the same advice that he needs to talk to the boss before having this relationship with Fernanda. They go on to talk about Mig’s love situation and says he should move on. Mig says he can’t forget Luciana. Tano tells him he’s just afraid to find new love. Miguel admits that he and Erica have already kissed. So Tano says, “What are you waiting for? I once thought that I would never get over Susan. But now I found Fer and I’m feeling very good now and I’m really happy. I’m really in love. But you….don’t be dumb…take advantage of a new opportunity with Erica. Don’t let her go!”

Luciana comes into the office and gives David some papers he requested. He tells her that he told Grace that he is dissolving their partnership because he does not want any more problems with her because of the family situation and his wish to move on. But this is so that David and Lu can move on with their relationship without a problem. David says it’s because he loves Luciana and they kiss. They continue talking about Juan and how David plans to talk with the detective about Juan’s doings. They just need some kind of evidence that Juan was responsible for the sabotage. David then changes the subject and says, “I know you want to continue being friends with Miguel, but the problem is that he sees you as more than a friend.” Luciana says, “But the one I love is you! I just want Miguel to be happy whether it be with Erica or elsewhere, that’s all.”

Later than night, DisGrace enter’s Lil’s room and Lil is quite upset because Gut is angry with her. She explains that Gut did not like her illegal alien comments to the press. DisGrace says, “And you call me impulsive? Ha! I wouldn’t worry too much about all that because soon it will be yesterday’s news. But right now we have bigger fish to fry.” Lil asks, “What?” DisGrace goes on to say, “David told me he wants to dissolve our partnership and we have to figure out a way to get it back.” They cackle on for a while about how they can expedite their plans, but decide they have to have patience.

Perla and Carito are on the phone and Perla tries to explain to Carito why she can’t come and live there with them. Juan says he just doesn’t have the money to pay her right now because of “business” he has going on. Carito explains she needs to keep working and sending money home to her mother. She tells Perla she feels very alone and Miguel can’t offer her a job at the SB vineyard. She pleads with Perla to help her.

After dinner at the employees’ house, Ramón and Marta start talking. Marta compliments Ramón about his being a good man and in turn how well Tano has turned out to be. Ramon compliments her back calling her a pillar of the home and without her, there would not be so much happiness in the vineyard. They talk about her failed love with Gutierrez and how she cannot ever forgive him or ever trust him. Ramón gets brave and says, “Hey would you like to go out with me for coffee?” Marta says, “Thank you but….” Ramón clarifies and says, “Just as friends, that’s all.” Marta says, “I don’t know..” So Ramón says, “Do you not trust me either?” Marta replies, “Oh yes, I do trust you. You are a good man, very much like my Marcos.” So they make plans to go out and Marta looks happy.

Erica has been crying when Miguel walks in. She’s angry because it appears that he will never forget about Luciana. She says, “Do you think that I don’t hurt every time I see with Luciana? But I knew what I was getting into and I fully accept the consequences of my own foolish decisions.” Miguel is sorry that she feels badly and it’s his fault. She goes on, “I hope the day comes when you are happy, but right now, it’s too late for us.” She turns to leave, but Miguel stops her and says, “Look I don’t know what will happen for us. I don’t know if it will be love or what will be. But I do know this. I have to learn to live in the present now.” Erica asks, “What are you saying Miguel?” He says, “I am saying that I am not going to lose this opportunity with you.” And they kiss!
Erica wants clarification on what this all means because this is very serious for her. Mig explains, “If I wasn’t sure and convinced of this, I would never have kissed you. And I’d be an idiot if I let you go.” So they kiss some again…. They talk some more and Miguel explains that he just hasn’t been ready but she has shown him many new things he is happy about.

Next day Mig is in town at breakfast with Cesar and Susan. They talk about Juan and that whole situation of Juan being a traitor. Mig is just afraid that Juan is going to do something else to hurt him. Susan says he has to have faith that Juan will be caught. Susan asks if he’s seen Luciana. He says yes, but things get complicated. Mig says, “I thought I wanted to get back with Luciana but now that I’m working with Erica and living over there, things have been changing for me.” Cesar says, “So if you have a new opportunity, why not?” Mig confesses to them that he’s already started with Erica and both Cesar and Susan wish him much happiness.

Fer comes to see Tano and she wants to go out with him to the movies tonight. Tano wants to know how her father is going to allow this, but she is asking Aunt DisGrace for permission instead.

Carito comes with bags of groceries that she says is for a get together at the Barrio Latino. Tano helps her with them but she drops something.

Gut comes to Lilian to help him with the charity. She says no, those people are dirty and rude, she does not like them. She says she’s busy, so good bye!

Fer comes to DisGrace about going out with Tano. She gives her permission and she will talk with David. “Now just don’t forget that I’m the only one here you can trust!”

Leon comes to Sonia in the kitchen and he wants to talk. Sonia says it’s just too late. Leon says that she just misunderstood. León says he will do some of her chores to make up for it, but Sonia says no. “In the past, I would have accepted, but not anymore. “It’s just too bad that I saw you with her (Carito). I’m going to tell you something about myself. I am VERY jealous! Now you have discovered how I am.” León says, “You are a princess and I love you. Please give me another chance. Let’s go out on the town together.” So they make up and decide to leave together.

Marta is at the employees’ house mopping the kitchen and Gut barges in asking for her help on his charity event for the Latin community. She says he’s crazy and keeps mopping. She tells him to do it himself or ask Lilian. Ramón comes in and says, “Is everything okay Marta?” So Gut says, “I see it didn’t take long for you to replace me.” Marta says, “No, I didn’t replace you. There is no one as disgusting as you are.”

Luciana finds David on the phone and he explains he was talking to the detective about Juan’s sabotage. He takes her in his arms and kisses her. He says she’s driving him crazy and he’s so charmed by her beautiful blue eyes. Luicana doesn’t believe that Fernanda is ready for their relationship and doesn’t want to cause problems. After some lovey dovey talk David finally says, “It’s time to tell the kids, that the woman I’m in love with is you.”

Cynthia-I enjoyed your recap. David and Luciana are looking more comfortable being in love and when they kiss one another. David appears to be looking younger. Is he coloring his hair and mustache/beard? Disgrace and Lil are still firing up the show with their evil hateful ways. It's a shame that Disgrace is manipulating Fer. Leon and Sonia are a funny, loving couple that look good together. I really liked Tano with Susan, but maybe the situation with Fer will eventually go well for them. I feel sorry for Miguel and his pining for Luciana. But glad to see him hopefully move on with Erica. I had hopes that Marta would forgive Gut. They made a really good-looking couple that appeared to truly love one another.

Thank you, Cynthia, for another wonderful retelling.

I am still keeping my eye on the vests. For most of this episode, both DAVE AND Sonia were wearing their signature looks. Dave's seemed to be suede...A material somewhere between fabric and leather. However, at the end , when Dave and LUci kissed..No vest. Symbolism??? One less layer between LUci AND him? Were the vests his protection against the world?

In telenovelas, there is love without sex and sex without love, but in the end, the ultimate goal is to unite the couple (and minor couples) in a powerful combination of both.

Great recap Cynthia.

“Oh yes, I do trust you. You are a good man, very much like my Marcos.” Marta just kills me, a good man is not her first choice, never was. Ramon is very much a fool, very much like Marcos.

Carito acts like she has been overworked, underfed, used and abused in her current employ and is not reality. She deserves no sympathy.

I do wonder the significance of the dropped wonder bread Tano retrieved from the porch.

Wonder how Luciana responds when Susan tells her Miguel has moved on.

Tofie..Werent there several loaves of that bread that Carito quickly retrieved ,and she seemed nervous about Tano seeing them? Is she making sandwiches for the illegal immigrants?

Cynthia, another top notch recap. You conveyed all the events, conversations and angst perfectly.

The screen shots were all terrific and the ones of Ramon and Marta were my favorite. Ramon has been so patient. I will be so sad if these two don’t end up together. I find Ramon sweet and quite handsome.

Some of last night’s revelations made it clear that some folks get it, others simply, well don’t. “Gut gets the bright idea to make a charity event for the Latino community. And he will ask for Marta’s help”! Yes, but of course! After rebuffing you for what…let’s see…the last 7 or 8 times, I’m sure the 9th time will be the charm! Ack. But conversely we also saw “Fer looks puzzled and asks, “Are you aware right now Tía, that you are sounding just like Grandma?” Bingo..
Erica really had no cause for jealousy seeing Miguel and Luci together. It’s her own insecurity and being bold in going after what she really wants which are pricking at her conscience. Miguel is weakening and becoming susceptible to her charms and I love the advice from his bro Tano “don’t be dumb…take advantage of a new opportunity with Erica. Don’t let her go!”

“León says, “You are a princess and I love you”. Another jealous woman. But a fabulous one. I do see him more with Carito (someone commented on this yesterday), but I want Sonia to find her prince charming whoever that might be.

Al, while David and Luci do seem more relaxed, I don't quite see the actress responding in a very passionate way. I suppose that is the character's personality, but I'd like to see a bit more fire.

tofie, there was definitely some significance to the errant loaf of bread. My first thought was drugs. Susanlynn, I initially thought it was for the immigrants too but the camera lingered a bit too long and I think an innocent loaf of bread might be eaily explained (?) Maybe I'm making too much out of it.

Susan and Cesar make a nice couple, easily companionable. I wonder if it might morph into something more.

Cynthia, thank you for another excellent recap.

Diana

Gracias, Cynthia.

If there is one thing I learned about jealousy (and its sibling, Envy) you don't show it. That never works in your favor whether you are male or female; it only makes you look insecure. At worst, pathetic.

"Lillian Smith"? Excuse me for laughing. I can't think of a more cliched (or phony) last name for her and this is a name that is actually in my own family. However, she probably thought that Uppington-Smythe was a little too high to aspire to.

The more I watch this the more I want DisGrace to have a Karmageddon that disfigures her. Women who are so vain of their beauty and so sure that it makes them superior to others are among my least favorite people in this world. This one is evil to boot.

Other than the one time Erika flipped out by going to Luciana's office to chew her over Miguel she's been accepting, blaming herself and willing to accept the consequences of digging a guy that loves someone else. All I think she did last night was tell him if you snooze you lose to great effect. Compared to Luciana's jealous reactions over him, Erika has been the grownup.

I do think the groceries are for the migrants and may be an attempt by Carito to prove her worth and convince Juan to take her back into the fold and away from the vineyard. Perhaps the same loafs lead to the new migrant holding cell.

I think Fernanda has the same inability as David to pick up the sound wave frequency of a liar.

Miguel and Erika seem so much closer to San Francisco than Luciana and David. Heck, Luciana and Miguel got much closer, much faster to San Francisco than Luciana and David. I'm beginning to think David may have a problem.

If that actually was Wonder Bread the wrapper being found might be a clue in a future investigation. All I can say is that since I would never eat that stuff again I wouldn't be serving it to anyone else either.

Carito was always looking to feed the immigrants and I think has previously done so against Juan and the SkidMark's orders.

I think Fernanda has the same inability as David to pick up the sound wave frequency of a liar.

Love that line and I agree. She will be devastated when she finds out that she was only being used by DisGrace and she will need a shrink to cope when she finds out that DisGrace killed her mother.

The wrapper looked like it was not a mass produced product but bread from a bakery that could be traced. At least I hope so or perhaps Tano tries to get it to her and overhears something.

Much as I disliked Tano with Susan I like him with a girl nearer his age and would be better if Fernanda wasn't so much a spoiled brat.

Thank You Cynthia. Lots of fun.

I am no kissing expert, but Luci and David still seem contrived and choreographed to me with the kisses, and actually in the "I Luuurve You" conversations too.

It should be interesting to read a behind the scenes look at those two after this is over. I'd bet they don't get along.

Yeah, Lillian Smith is a good one Urban, and her daughter Kathy Johnson, right?

It is fun seeing the noose gradually tightening on DisGrace and to a lesser extent Lillian. Like the frog in boiling water she seems determined to stay until the water is too hot just like the proverbial frog.

So they have not shown us everything Carita is up to. What did Tano do with the bread? I do not recall his returning it.

Well Erika the horn dog got what she wanted with a couple tears and a pout. Unlike most everyone else here I think she is full of bull and a manipulator. Smuguel has made it clear from the beginning there is NO INTEREST in her, and besides she is his boss and the owner's daughter. She continues to pursue him relentlessly and gets all "heartbroken" over a guy who has told her seventeen times his heart belongs to another. Excuse me? Seems there is something in the water in North Calif.

Tofie it is the steroids. He knows she's gonna laugh at him.

Tofie..It's the tight vests that have Dave all buttoned up, but he wasn't wearing his trademark vest at the end of last night's episode. Just saying. if you're going to San Francisco, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair.

I have had it with GUt. He is a user. Lilian won't help him plan his party , so he goes to Marta. Really? Like DIsgrace, he just does not understand the meaning of no.

Diana, I like RAmon, too. He has been gentle and patient , and when he smiles, he is quite attractive. I think that Marta could have a happy life with that good hombre.

Lion cub, if you would offer to help me with my chores, I would not say no. Same goes for anyone else who offers. There is a huge pile of laundry waiting patiently right now. Lioncub, how about it? Anyone?

Surely someone has pointed out to Irina and GS they need to try harder. I almost believe GS but Irina has a dead pan stare when she delivers I love you and just don't believe it and once last night I could see their lips weren't touching and faking the kiss. Something ain't right with these two or maybe she's just a bad actress and cannot muster a fake. She was all over Raúl. I thought she could pull this off and was impressed with her in PyP.

I like Ramon, and I would not wish Martaaaaa on him. He is a nice, uncomplicated guy who, it appears, has done a respectable job raising Tano singlehandedly. No goofyness, no baggage, no wailing and crying or pineing over lost somethings. He is way too good for Marta who is far from goodness and simplicity. She is a mess and I'd betcha we still do not know half her secrets.

Yeah she's better when she is whacked out on crack !

I liked what she was not wearing in P&P too. (almost everything)

tofie, while the chemistry is at least registering, I totally agree it's way off.

I've been giving Irina the benefit of the doubt as she was so stellar in PyP, but it seems like she is simply going through the motions here. Sleepwalking is too harsh but she isn't at all animated with David/Gabe. I wonder if Kirby is right and there is either no connection or an issue between the two.

Susanlynn, Brian has completely turned me off to the point I cringe when he comes onscreen. The man is thinking Marta one minute, Lili the next. All he's doing is alienating Lili and pushing Marta further and further away. Why on earth should we care??

Diana

patiently right now. Lioncub, how about it? Anyone?

Email it to me and I will do it.

Lovely recap, thank you, Cynthia.

Next to what I'm now calling Plot Bread (the dropped loaf Tano picked up after Carito scurried into the Servants' Luxury Townhouse, and I fully blame you ECDLP recappers for that) and Marta comically trying to mop Gutierrez's shoes, the thing that stuck out for me about this episode was another in the series of ongoing allusions to Marta's supposedly disastrous affair with Dead Fernando: while she was talking to Ramon, she apparently asided something to the effect of not having luck with the love she chose or some such. Ramon went "Wait, what?" and Marta brushed it off. C'mon, show, give up the meat already.

As for David and Luciana's increasingly touchy-feely relationship? I tend to agree that Gabriel Soto is holding up his end, but Irina Baeva seems oddly...stilted?...when Luci has to get cuddly with David. And their kisses do seem awkward, if less so than previously. (I'm increasingly distracted by the makeup they slathered on IB, though, in addition to the work she had done during the course of the show.) Maybe she's overpowered by GS's hai-karate or something.

Diana...Gut is always thinking about the same person..Himself. HE's one of those" I love him, and he loves him" guys.

I agree that GS is showing that his character is more believably in love than IRina, but IRina has not been in telenovelas for very long and he has. I think that his acting has improved a lot since I saw him as ALonslow, the dullest galan I ever met in Querida ENimiga next to the actor playing the hot chef.

I know that sometimes when they cast AMerican TV shows, the casting people do "chemistry" tests between the possible leads. In OUtlander, the chemistry between the two actors is so strong that fans are "shipping " them.HAve you ever heard that term ? At times, fans who are shipping get pretty obnoxious with the actors. It means the fans are hoping that they have a relationship in real life. These two don't, but they have said that they immediately got along when they first met and have continued to get closer as good friends, but they are dating other people. I think that this is because they both seem to be genuinely nice, kind people with good senses of humor. It would be very awkward if two actors did have a relationship , but then they broke up. Sometimes, the actors do fall in love after playing lovers for awhile!

It is inexplicable what attracts people to each other. We see it here on the patio with different viewers attracted to different actors. Attraction is not just about looks. Sometimes, people seem more attractive after you get to know them. At other times, you are immediately attracted to someone the first time you see him\her.

Well, nobody has stepped forward to start that laundry or make me coffee, so that is on me. Later, gators. sunny and cold here today.

Thank you Cynthia - I was out last night and missed this - but had started working on tomorrow's recap and watching that episode. This really helped some things make sense for that.

I'm not into David and Luciana as a couple. At all. They just aren't all that pleasant although it's nice to see them smile now when they are together. Beats all their prior grumpiness. I just don't find them charming in any way together. And it's going to implode when he does get around to telling the kids (not a spoiler, at some point he's going to, right? Or they are going to get caught together.)

bill C....Wait ? What? I B had work done? ( Ha..My autocorrect changed "work done" to "workboots"...Which would be MIguel, right?) Could it be that GS is actually attracted to IB, but IB..not so much.

I just heard that teenagers think about sex up to every six seconds. This explains Fer. I am hoping that her preoccupation with Tano will pull her away from Tia's influence and make her less interested in controlling her dad's life. However, I have seen a teen daughter break up her dad's romance. Teens want to go off and start their lives while leaving their parents forever frozen in place at home.

Susanlynn: You & I KNOW full well that David & Luciana still will have LOTS of roadblocks in their way to happiness because of obvious reasons such as Graciela & FerBrat!

Bill...I could not tell IB had any work. They have so much plaster slathered on her to cover her real looks that I didn't notice anything.

BTW I got WHACKED on here some time ago for mentioning a real human who was playing a character in the TN.
If you have a few hours read the Cray Cray rules.

It seems, though, that many of the Ogre hall monitors have retired.

Thanks, Cynthia! What was the deal with Carito being so pathetic? You'd think her coworkers had been beating her.

“Are you aware right now Tía, that you are sounding just like Grandma?” YOW! BURN!!

You know what would be nice, and smart? If Tano would help Fer study for her exams.

Luci made a strange face when Dave told her that he wanted to tell the kids about her. It was her idea to delay telling them before, too. Why does she want to keep it secret?

I also think Ramon is too good for Marta. He seems to be stuck in the friend zone anyway, so I don't see how they can have a real relationship unless she "settles." Ramon deserves better.

Now, as for real-actor gossip, as I recall, the main issues were talking about real-life relationships between actors, and talking about actors' legal issues. Jane said it spoiled her enjoyment of the show. I kinda understand what she meant by that.

One the one hand, I think it's helpful and useful to know a little about these things, if evidence of it spills over into the show (like during FELS, one of the characters suddenly went into a "coma" so the actor could deal with some legal problems, and they brought in a "cousin" who I liked a lot better).

But on the other hand, I really don't want to know about some actor's drunk driving arrest if it has nothing to do with the show, or his missed alimony payments, or an actress's ex-husbands. I don't need to know about these things, either, and if I think someone is a big jerk I'm probably not going to be able to watch the show.

HOWEVER... as far as I know, cosmetic surgery is fair game. You can see the results on the screen. In some cases, it is impossible to ignore. I remember a lot of discussion about Ninel Conde's "transformation" over the years, so I'm pretty sure this topic is not banned.

And I would love to know what IB had done. At some point I thought she'd started plucking her eyebrows differently, but that hardly qualifies as surgery...

Thank you so very much, Cynthia, for yesterday and today! Still working on today's recap and haven't gotten to comments yet.

Susanlynn, I noted in yesterday's comments you said you're warming up to Dave and Luci! Yaaay! You know I've always rooted for them but I continue to be pained by their kisses. Your comment about her having to "pfffft" after kisses is hilarious and probably so true! I try to ignore the awkwardness but the "teeth baring" -- I think that was DY and the gnawing (sorry I can't remember who said that) makes me grimace instead of sigh. They need to concentrate on lips and stop trying to do simultaneous and mutual tongue and tonsillectomies! It looks absolutely feral!

Anyway. There are already a lot of comments, which I know I'll enjoy. Briefly, I'm glad Miguel is giving him and Erica a chance. He looked so happy when he was talking to Soosan and SeizeHer.

Agree with all comments yesterday about the unbelievable and tiring Marta/Gut/Lili triangle. None of the three of them are worth it and Ramon should realize Marta is using him to stick it to Gut. Instead of walking out triuimphant after confiriming the date with Marta, he should have turned around and seen the nana-nana-boo-boo look on Marta's face as she stared at Gut for his reaction.

DisGrace continues to head for an explosion. Fer should see the crazy in her wild eyes. It's so obvious!

SOOO glad to see NO skidmark or nojuan!

Thanks again, Cynthia! May be back later after reading comments!

I too wonder why Luciana doesn't want David's kids or Miguel to know? I think if the kids know it will be awkward for her to back out and the last person she wants to know is Miguel. I get it if Bobby and Fernanda didn't know her and they were worried about springing some stranger on them.

Guess it's ok to play like she is committed to a big girl relationship but with just a toe in she can jump out much easier. David on the other hand is willing to take the risk and deal with the fallout. If she's not ready to fall in love or have a relationship it's fine to date and date and date but she nearly married Miguel a month ago and can't be so stupid it's David plan as well.

You know what I'd like? For Disgrace to get mixed up with Mark in some way. That would be nassssssty.

Who are we kidding, Julie? We just want Graciela to bean Mark with a rock.

Lila..I was not the person who made the "pfftt" comment, and I cannot remember who the author was. Maybe tofie? I have to laugh at the many kissing reviews..gnawing, teeth bearing. Yikes. OT..Lila, rest assured that if you do decide to watch Outlander on Starz or get the DVDs for season one and two, Jamie is a verra, verra good kisser and the chemistry between Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe is a m a z I n g.

Julie... I don't know how wise it would be for Tano to tutor Fer...(say that three times fast. ) Tutoring sessions between teens who like each other often morph into staring sessions and comments such as "Are those your real eyebrows?"

Hey, let's mix it up. How about Ramon ending up with Sonia? She could rock his kind, patient , devoted soul. This guy deserves.. Something good

I want Lillian and Marta to finally succumb to the lesbian love they are fighting so hard. Gut who?

Julie....I don't think that fastidious Disgraceful would ever touch grungy Marked with a ten foot pole. However, Bill C., I am completely on board with her beaning him with a rock..for any or no reason. That would truly turn the tables on that abuser.

Kirby..wow, now that image is etched in my brain.

Other than Lilian's blatant racism, fantasy blue blood and loved neither Brian or Fernando, Marta is just as bad, perhaps worse with her modest veneer holding "good" guys like Marcos and Ramon in orbit. Both women are both gutter fighters when it comes to a man.

You are welcome Sue, Happy Friday. :-)

First of all, Cynthia--thank you for a rollicking good recap. You nailed it, amiga. All the conversations we needed to hear are right there.

I'd like to follow up on yesterday's conversation about sibling rivalry. Urban--you might consider this for one of your weekend discussions. What I found very interesting is that all the pairs that were mentioned were female siblings. When I started to think about it--I couldn't think of any male siblings that stand out in my mind. I haven't watched that many telenovelas, but if someone else has some male pairs, I'd love to see them listed.

Alan and Rene in AQNMD don't quite rise to the level of rivalry--they sort of each went their own way; one loves his bio-dad, the other one hates him.

Ah! Sortilegio comes to mind, Bruno and Alex, but they weren't full siblings.
In Eva Luna, Daniel and Leonardo were only BFF, but boy were they rivals for Eva.

How would you characterize the non-same sex rivalry between Rogelio and Cynthia in LQNPA (not over a girl or guy, but the fortune)?

In Un Refugio, Rodrigo and Patricio (before his accident) started out in friendly rivalry over Luciana, but after the accident, he realized he would never be a complete man again, but still loved her more deeply as the story went on.

Tofie you may be right about Luci. She has not really completely committed to David, and telling the kids and the world is the last plunge she will not take.

She managed a furtive "Honey" the other day, and I believe she eeked out a Ti Amorrrrrr maybe once, but she is not following him around like a puppy dog or a grown up doggy in heat. Sadly she is still more comfortable and intimate with Smuguel.

If Luci flip flops back to Smuguel about the time Dave finds out about DisGrace , Mr. Rock, Lisa and a few other crimes his head will explode.

Anita...I cannot think of any telenovelas that I have watched with brothers feuding. In FELS, you had the fabulous baking brothers who got along great and were always skinny dripping together and riding horses and climbing up to balconies while dating sisters. Remember Big Ed's beautiful horse..Fresian? In Alborada , we had two rival promos who were always feuding. In a lot of the novellas that I have watched, the galan has a best friend who is like his brother. In fact, in Alborada, Cristobal always called Don Luis "Hermano." Susanlynn, still waiting for Lioncub to help fold some laundry

Anita, that is a great idea for a weekend topic. Money is the second most popular motive for evil in novelas and what better scenario for it than a family fortune. I'll work on that for the future. I think next weekend I will have to post the Karmageddon for AQNMD.

It is certainly true that the most intense stories involve protagonists and villains who are in some way related. That's why toxic parents are such popular villains.

Thank you,non Spanish speaking autocorrect, once again..primos not promos..sorry

Anita it looks to be a chick thing in real life. Brothers fight, sometimes just brotherly love squabbles, sometimes knock down drag out fistfights. But when the smoke clears they are still Brothers and would put up a much better fight defending the Brother they just beat up.

I can offer no UrbanAntesque explanation, but that is what I have observed over a lot of life down South.

I think us guys would rather just punch you in the face and get it over with. It is just too much emotional effort to pull some of the schemes you girls come up with.

But I'm no UA. :-)

Sue: OT and this is pretty cute. Looking at your autocorrect troubles. This weekend I am dogsitting my neighbor's kid's dog. An adorable little Shitsoup. And he is bilingual. He understands the common dog commands in either English or even my Spanglish. They are all visiting Gramma in Miami.

Feuding Brothers:

Sortilegio (half bros)
La Fuerza del Destino (half bros)
De Que Te Quiero (identical twins)
La Malquerida (half bros who thought they were full bros)
Manana es Para Siempre (half bros)
Mi Pecado (half bros who thought they were full bros)
Pasion y Poder (half bros)

I think sister feuds are just more memorable, because there are just more opportunities for fights that end in slaps and hair pulling. Plus, the women fight really dirty. Sortilegio is memorable because those boys were always throwing down and getting into fist fights. Who could forget the tumble down the stairs in the yellow undies: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FfafkmbVqV8

I mean, that Sortilegio fight even ended with one of them accidentally smacking their mama!! Ah, good times...

Vivi..leave it to you to remember all those novelas. You, as always, have a remarkable memory. And yes, I do remember the somersaulting down the stairs scene which was almost as memorable as the wet, white pants in LT. However, I did not remember that Sweet William and Zepada were half bros.

Kirby, auto correct usually zaps me because I am always hurrying to comment before dashing off to do something and I forget to do a final edit..careless and lazy of me

Oh wait-- here is a clearer video of the fight and the tight yellow briefs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xz8MhG3PUXM

Vivi...I liked LA Mal. I forgot about those brothers. What did we used to call the tall, dark haired artist? That novela had a villain who usually plays a galan (Christian Meyer)and a good guy who often played bad guys I loved to hate . What was the name of the actor who played the superbad pimp but was the galan's bff in Pasion...pirates!!!

Susanlynn- Alberto Estrella played Danilo the pimp, who got one of the best/most appropriate karmarmageddons I've seen in a tn. Osvaldo de Leo played the artist German with the awful brother. Did we call him big sexy? He was so hot in that tn.

Kirby: I'm really hoping Erika can make it to the Gran Final because I'm very worried about her lung problem.

Tofie: I totally forgot about Lillian ("Deborah Sanders 2.0)'s blatant racism, which is DISGUSTING!

Deborah was WORSE in her hostilities towards certain people on Telemundo's "Bajo El Mismo Cielo".

Yes, I have not seen those two actors lately, but for awhile , I saw Oswaldo in quite a few novelas. Yes, I think that is what we called Oswaldo...Bigsexy. Alberto is such a versatile actor. He can play a dreadful, disgusting villain as he did in LA Mal, but he is also completely believable as a sweet , piraty bff to the galan as he was in Pasion. Dear Mariana Carr was in Pasion. I miss her.

It's true that female villains have more weapons at their disposal. That's what makes toxic mothers more interesting in many ways than the fathers. Their weapons are more numerous and more varied while toxic fathers usually rely on money. Hence, most toxic fathers in novelas are rich while toxic mothers can be of any socio-economic class. Azela Robinson excels at the trailer-trash variety of those.

Vivi, I will need your help with that brothers list because I haven't seen all those programs. I have another pair to add to it that I do remember fairly well

Gabriel and Damian of Mundo de Fieras, because they were played by the great Cesar Evora.

Urban- Happy to help with your dueling bros post when you make it. What fun!

I'll hold you to that!

Urban, Cesar was wild playing those identical twins. I still remember Damien bashing his head against the staircase railing. Edith Gonzales was fabulous as the villain. She brought a lot of crazy to that table.

Hey, guys! We've concentrated so much on the "kissing" that no one has mentioned that in their last scene together, David told Luci that he's dying to make love to her and she said she feels the same. They agreed they both want to be alone together and David concluded by telling her it's time to tell his children she's the one he loves.

Now, whether it will be San Fransisco or Tijuana or Sonoma, I think they are ready to get to "know" one another. Luci IS all in and ready to give herself -- for the first time -- to a man and David is that man.

That some of us done feel she's all in must be the actress. It may look all glamorous, being an actress and all, but when you break down what they have to do, it sounds, well, not so much: Hugging and kissing and being petted by men, some of them older than you and pretending to like it. . .for money.

I still like David and Luci as a couple. I hope their first time will be memorable and I'm going to try to enjoy it!

GO DAVE AND LUCI!!! San Francisco, here they come!

There were dueling cousins in Destilando Amor, and in LFMB there were two men who grew up together and were raised by the same people (Fernando's own parents had died, so he was raised by Ariel's father).

I didn't think I had seen anything with actual brothers as rivals, but that's because I had forgotten all about Mundo de Fieras. Not just brothers, but TWINS!

You're right, Lila, I did say "ooh" at that conversation last night and then forgot all about it until you mentioned it. Luci actually looked more enthusiastic about the mention of sex than she did at the revelation that he was ready to talk to the kids. Ahh, priorities.

To your point, Lila, I have a story from my wild cinema forays.

About three years ago I went with a film group to an art house to watch a movie from the Golden Age of pornography. The cinematographer was there for Q&A afterwards and he had a lot to say about how sex scenes were shot. They would run 10 minutes max and were specifically choreographed down to hand placements, position, when specific details happen, where and when close-ups are done, etc. Imagine doing this in front of 20-30 people and sometimes under very harsh lighting with someone you may have just met.

No paycheck can ever be big enough for that.

Lila..I hope "alone" doesn't mean the vino cava. Girl, you are verra excited about this. Perhaps more so than Luci. Well, she may be a virgin , but she's not a nun....all that neckin' with Miguel in the cellar. I agree that love scenes are probably not as sexy as some actors make them look. Lots of directing.
Lots of people around watching every move. And as you mentioned "Hugging and kissing and being petted by men" ...and vice versa to be fair...for $$$. It's a job, but let's face it, there are worse jobs..for example monitoring detention hall which involves directing and watching plus a lot of stern, no nonsense frowning without the hugging and kissing and petting. Bring it. Je suis pret.

I'm all in for Luciana and David and why I am so disappointed.

I heard David's suggestion of a trip to San Francisco but how do you go on a road trip if you are uncomfortable riding in the car together? I also recall Luciana really, really wanted to go with Miguel and never made it so I'll believe it when I see it.

Yes, Urban, I saw an actor online describing those scenes . "You put your hand here. I will put my hand there." All while you are both nude except for modesty pouches and patches and the camera guy or guys are about a foot away from the pair. He said that they try to limit the number of people on the set, but he counted 17 "necessary" people during one of those scenes . You cannot be a shy person to do those scenes.

The list of those, who will be Endgame in the end:

1.) David & Luciana

2. No-game Cesar & Susan: she needs a good guy in her life.

3.) Tano & FerBrat: I could see mini-FerBrats in the future

4.) Leon & Sonia: She's old enough to be his mother, but hey: Sonia is one sexy COUGAR :)

5.) Ramon & Marta

6.) Miguel & Erika: IF the lung problem is not an issue for Erika because I'm already getting nervous.

Tofie: "how do you go on a road trip if you are uncomfortable riding in the car together?" Good question. I thought I was all in for these two, but the chemistry was so much better with Miguel that I'm wondering if all this discomfort is intentional - as a setup for Luci and Mig to get back together eventually (after putting everyone through hell).

OK, new scenario:

Mig marries Erika, Lil marries Adolfo. Lil kills Adolfo and goes to prison. Erika inherits the vineyard.

Meanwhile, Luci marries David. Gracie takes Dave to the river and rocks his world... or at least his head. Disgrace goes to prison, and Luci inherits the vineyard.

Erika's lungs give out and she dies. Miguel inherits the vineyard.

Mig and Luci marry, and they buy the olive grove (Juan and Mark killed one another). So now they own the three contiguous properties AND they can make salad dressing.

The End

Whoa, Urban, the close orchestration of it all! Amazing! You know, I bailed on P Y P and don't remember IB in that. If I hulu it, should she be pretty easy to find. I mean, was she a major character?

Girl, you are verra excited about this. Perhaps more so than Luci. HA!

Yes, Julie, Tofie and Susanlynn, that was an OOO moment! Hey! Maybe that's what Luci needs to be able to tell the kids! She's been so hesitant and so wanting to wait! You know the expression they have in these novelas (and I don't know if it's also true in real life) about the man, "making the woman his." Well, seems like our Luci needed the assurance of David actually making her his before she could face the children.

Julie! That's damned funny! ;D

Julie..wow, you should be writing telenovelas instead of just watching them.

Steve..I keep wondering why Erika's breathing problem was brought up if it doesn't somehow become "a thing" in this story.

Lila..you could probably find scenes from PyP on YouTube. Irina did a great job playing a rich, spoiled, sister hating horny girl. She did not have any trouble doing love scenes in that show.

Unfortunately, I don't think Erika is going to survive. If she does live, Miguel ends up with a sickly wife? Or ends up dumping a sick girlfriend? I can't see that happening.

But her health problem doesn't matter to the story unless it leads to Miguel inheriting the vineyard. I suppose he doesn't actually have to marry her. Maybe after she dies, Adolfo tells loyal employee Mig "you are like the son I never had" and puts him in his will.

I can't think of anything else. But then, I am usually wrong. I'm sure there is some clever twist that I can't foresee.

Julie you're close and what I've been thinking since Luciana chose the cellar with Miguel than a begging Dave at the wine unveiling. Miguel hones his skills with Erika and Luciana exploring a crush on David while both have one eye on the other so they don't go far. Why else spend so much time on Miguel after a tearful breakup with Luciana? Really, Luciana didn't break up with Miguel but wanted to slow it down and he forced it. He made the decision to leave being angry with David and Luciana.

Thanks, Cynthia. Terrific job. Loved you asides. Yeah DisGrace, I DO think you’d take all their money and run with it.) Perfect pic of Gut squatting like a chicken.

I'm increasingly distracted by the makeup they slathered on IB

Bill C., I'm distracted by it too. IB is gorgeous and I’m guessing the makeup folks are bronzing her cause they think she’s too pale since Lucíana is supposed to be an outdoorsy girl. They’re also putting a lot of product in her hair for the wavy look.

Loved Fer pointing out Graciela was sounding racist like Lil.

Erica better lose the jealousy of Lucíana. Lu goes back with Mig since childhood and that’s that. She’ll always be in his life. Erica and Mig have sizzle together, but it’s crazy that this pretty and wealthy young woman doesn’t have guys lined up knocking at her door. Mig has it way too easy. And what will he do if/when Lu and David are on the rocks?

Julie, I loved this: "Mig and Luci marry, and they buy the olive grove (Juan and Mark killed one another). So now they own the three contiguous properties AND they can make salad dressing." LOL! Now that sounds like a happily ever after scene to me!

Julie, I think a future in writing awaits.

Thought your scenario was great.

Diana

I need to make a slight adjustment to my story: Perla kills Juan and Mark, and she receives a medal for it.

Julie..Even though it may not be "their" story (the writers), it can be "our" story.

I really do think there's a good chance Luci and Mig end up together, but then what happens to Dave? I'm sure they won't kill him off. Could he end up with Susan? Or Sonia? Someone we haven't met yet?

No, I think that Gabe is the bigger star , so Dave gets the girl. However, my predictions are never right. In this game of musical chairs (lovers), someone is not going to get a chair. We've all been there..On the floor..No chair! I am just not sure who ends up in the chairs and whose chairs they are next to and who is on the floor ..Except for Disgrace, Lilian, Juan ,and Marked. I am pretty sure they are not getting chairs, and JUan and Marked may pull Perla down on the floor with them.

Hey patio people.

I'm one of those that lurk here and dont comment and its not because i dont have anything to say but its because we are never watching the same novelas at the same time or at the same pace.

Today I'm really here because this novela (dubbed in english) is about to start in my country next week (replacing Tres veces ana) and I always love to hear your opinions on novelas. So guess it must be good since it got nominated on the best telenovela.

Las amazonas is also starting this month replacing sueno de amor. But it seems you guys havent watched that yet either. ( i'm like some of you guys who swore to never watch a mr & mrs mejia production, but i'm really enjoying un camino.

I'm really looking forward to vino simply because i really enjoyed last castro production (PyP) and Soto performance in YNCELH.

And to all you recappers and commenters thank you even though we dont say it as much we appreciate all your hard work.

Hi Shelloh! Thanks for commenting! I do hope you enjoy Vino. As you will see from our comments, we have had some frustrations with this TN... but we've also found little things about it to enjoy that make it worthwhile.

Shello, where are you that novelas are dubbed in English? I'd love to hear a scene or two to see if they make any effort to match the original actors' voices. This is one of my main pet peeves with dubbing.

Not to mention that the love scenes probably sound much less passionate in English.

OT...Lila...the rerun of season one episode one of Outlander will be on Starz tonight at 9pm if you want to check it out. It's verra good.

Thanks guys for your replies.

I'm from Tanzania East Africa. I dont know if the love scenes sound better in spanish because i have only experience these novelas in english dubbed voices. But in my experiences they sound great. And they always manage to get the same voice actors to voice the same actors even in different novelas. Like You will hear the same voice for Silvia Navarro in CME, AB, MCET, so we are used to these voices and we feel like those are their voices.

UA, i also want to check some spanish scenes to see if i had a better experience with the voice actors. I'm planning to check on Angelique Boyer work in TVA in spanish since the voice actress did an amazing job in differentiating the triplets voices. Like i could not be facing the TV and hear her voice and know that its either Ana Lau, or Ana leticia or Ana Lucia and be right.

From the promos of Vino Gabriel soto also has the same voice as in Un refugio and YNCELH. So it helps, but sometimes also confuses especially when two actors get the same voice. but beggars cant be choosers. so.

Thanks; that's interesting to know.

Welcome, Shelloh! Wow! Caray spans the globe! Does reading these recaps take out the element of surprise, or does that matter?

OT -- Susanlynn, I have several STARZ channels but unless one can't trust what's listed on the Comcast guide, none of them seem to be showing it! I'll check at nine anyway. Thanks, girl!

Lila, sometimes one can't trust what's listed on the Comcast guide. Unfortunately, one never knows when.

OT..Lila..It is on right after "You Don't Mess with the Zohan" in my TV listings .

Thaanks, Julie and Susanlynn! I'll check them all at 9! Silly Comcrap!

So glad to read all of your comments, so funny-ROTHFLOL. Bill C.-so funny about Luci
maybe she's overpowered by GS's hai-karate or something. I wonder could his mustache/
beard be hurting or irritating her face/mouth? Anyhow looking forward to reading more of your comments. Thanks!

Good recAp Cynthia. The crazies are a lot crazier.
The lovers are more in love. The nuts
Are nuttier.
All is well in the yummy Land of the grapevine.
Thanks Cynthia.
