Okay, I'm genuinely surprised Guerra de idolos is being shoved off onto a night that normally never, ever, gets novelas. Especially since it was pimped harder than anything else in Telemundo's current lineup. That said, last night we also got a vague pronto promo for the fifth season of El Señor de los Cielos; if Telemundo for the first time in quite a while is indeed getting roundly spanked in the ratings, their pulling an Univision 2010 or so and trying to clear the decks in order to bring out the big guns makes a certain cynical sense. On the other hand, this temporarily means their entire nightly lineup is all narcos all the time (even if LQDC is way off on a Senora Acero-esque "Break the cutie" bender). All things in moderation, Telemundo. Aaaaanyway...

I missed what turned out to be the first hour of this block last night, so I unfortunately missed Evil Hobo Santa screwing with Yolanda again (and apparently blowing something up?), but I came in just in time to see Bianchini's wife Mariana as Centauro's mole and love thang/proxy (Centauro's straight up fiending for La Heroina, and she apparently doesn't care?!?). Did they explain that particular connection before I came in?
And why do I want Ana, her brother/half-brother/whatever Miguel, and Miguel's utterly bastardly dad to all get hit by a bus?

I hadn't heard that, Steve, but I wouldn't be surprised. ESDLC is undeniably Telemundo's baby--its flagship novela, albeit perhaps not without some merit--but when it comes back it'll start with its 343rd episode. When it finishes, it will officially be the longest telenovela ever made. And, especially after season four where just about every long-term recurring villain except two (Tijeras and Ramiro Silva de la Garza) was taken out, there's not that much left for Aurelio Casillas to actually do. He's undeniably the most powerful character in the narcoverse (or fighting Ramiro for the title), and...well, he kinda needs his fall from grace.

As it happens, I am out of reach of any internet or television for the next several days and I realize (based on your comments that my TV listings are inaccurate). It seems that these networks are too reactive. Why not give Guerra de Idolos time to find an audience instead of exiling it after one week? It really doesn't seem like they gave it a chance, which is odd after how much they promoted it.
How did Telemundo go from having one hour of narcos a night, to now having a solid three-hour block of narcos? All narcos all the time! I can't believe these shows are the ONLY ones that bring in ratings.

One, Eliza, comes from a humble background, while the other, Sofia, is a prominent figure and the wife of the governor of the state of Puebla. As different as these two women are, they will join forces on the U.S. side of the wall to try to rebuild their lives. Al Otro Lado del Muro will reflect opposite worlds, cultural gaps, different ways of life and the day-to-day life of immigrants who try to make it in a world that is unknown, and sometimes hostile to them.
De Pura Cepa (Of Pure Wine) (WT) tells the story of the Castaño and Montiel families; two hardworking and successful families who have been friends for many years and who share a passion for wine. Luis Miguel (WT) – the official authorized TV series based on the life of the internationally renowned music super star, 10-time Billboard Latin Music Award winner and multi-platinum recording artist. The TV series will have its world premiere on Telemundo and will be produced by Gato Grande Productions. MGM's President, Television Group and Digital, Mark Burnett, will help develop the series and lead Gato Grande in its first scripted project designed to tackle the growing U.S. Hispanic market.
Partido a Partido (One Game at a Time) (WT) is a thriller that tells the story of a serial killer who assassinates some of the most prominent personalities in the elite world of Spanish professional soccer. It will be up to a young and inexperienced sports journalist, Patricia, to stop him. Patricia is married to Diego, a professional soccer player, who is shot in the middle of a game and is left in a coma. The world of sports is in complete disarray with no clue as to why, until surprisingly, the serial killer contacts Patricia and asks for her to be his voice.

So Telemundo got around to their upfront, then...thanks, Vivi, for posting this.
Okay, the big surprise for me--bringing back their first honest-to-God ratings juggernaut, La Reina del Sur, and with Kate del Castillo to boot. I guess they thought Sin senos si hay paraiso did okay after its eight-year gap, so why not this? (That said, since USA has its English-language version and it's very loosely tied to the narcoverse...I don't even know...)
De pura cepa sounds like their obligatory big-budget traditional novela, though (after I finished having a Vino el amor flashback--urgh)...either it or Al otro lado del muro. Those will probably be the two to look out for, assuming Telemundo doesn't freak out and shelve either one of them for however many months or so.
Five limited series, though...that's definitely not common at all for Telemundo, so I'm wondering how short these are going to be. Or if they're all going to make it to air; the Luis Miguel and especially the Selena series are probably locks, but the others could all get the axe.
