TELEMUNDO Y MÁS (#1): El Capo, Jenni Rivera, La Querida del Centauro2, El Señor de los Cielos & más: Week of June 26, 2017

Welcome to Page #1 (Monday edition) of the Telemundo y Más page, issued twice a week: Mondays at 3:00 PM and Thursdays at 8:00 PM.

Here are the current telenovelas (all times are Eastern Daylight Time):

• 10:30AM-12PM—Corazón Valiente
• 12-2PM—Volver a Amar (but not this Wed. or Thurs.)
• 8-9PM—El Capo (ends Monday, June 26)
• 8-9PM—Jenni Rivera: Mariposa de Barrio (starts Tuesday, June 27)
• 9-10PM—La Querida del Centauro2
• 10-11PM—El Señor de los Cielos

I hope the above is correct. I've just moved, and Zap2it gives me all kinds of crazy listings for Telemundo. I finally switched it back to my old zip code, and all seems more or less normal. Also, note that a new novela, Jenni Rivera: Mariposa de Barrio, debuts on Tuesday, replacing El Capo in the 8PM time slot. Episodes and more information can be found on Telemundo's web site.

Everyone is welcome to join in the conversation.  Since discussions of all the Telemundo novelas share the same page, please remember to put the name of the telenovela you're referring to at the top of your post, so readers can easily find the conversations they're looking for.

By common agreement, this group DOES NOT discuss previews, trailers, or any other plot information not found in a current or past episode of the current production. Spoilers WILL be removed by the admin. This includes reference to earlier productions of the story, and even the original novel. Thanks for your cooperation!

General. At last, something in prime time that doesn't appear to be a narconovela.

Yes. Finally, something that isn't a narco novela.

SpanProf: You might want to get used to seeing "EL SENOR DE LOS CIELOS" around for just awhile buddy.

Mauricio: The Gran Final of "EL CAPO" is tonight.

HALIMACANDY: Where are you at ?

Telemundo put up the second "secret episode" of El Señor de los Cielos online last week; I haven't watched all of it, but I did catch that it appears to take place immediately after the fourth-season finale. And it partially cleared up Evelyn Garcia's status: while I still think Bizarro Pena Nieto had a hand in it, she was arrested for "endangering a minor" and at least one other charge, which I'm assuming was Monica's murder going off the season opener. Anyway...

El Señor de los Cielos: lunes

Thanks to my ongoing wonky CC3, this is definitely going to be brief.

- Felina and two of her cohorts are indeed shuttled out of prison for extradition to Colombia. Emiliana's lieutenant and his hastily-assembled crew, having been informed of this by an unidentified lawyer (possibly Felina's, it was never clarified, but he called Lourdes a couple of eps back), theoretically try to intercept the transport van. The crew ends up jumping about twenty guns and starts shooting at the van, leading to one of the longest and worst chase scenes in ESDLC history and the deaths of Felina's cohorts and one guard before the van ends up taking a corner badly and flips. Felina, thinking Emiliana's flipped on her, takes out some of the crew and makes a hasty exit; she briefly ends up holding a couple of girls in a clothing store hostage before taking out some wandering Marines searching for her. Once she's rocking a nice top and some tight jeans, she commandeers a cellphone and catches up with Emiliana, who convinces her that the crew were idiots and she wasn't trying to kill her--shortly before another wandering band of Marines pops up out of nowhere to nab her.

- Rivero, being a Standard Action Hero, gets a quick tipoff from Garcia about Felina being up to something while he's at a cabinet meeting with BPN and company. BPN insists that Rivero isn't doing his job, since Victor Casillas managed to get two assassination attempts in on him; Rivero somewhat inevitably declares that they should make hunting down the previously-"dead" Aurelio Casillas a priority, but BPN all but literally calls that fake news and orders him to find Victor.

- Victor, meanwhile, gives those women he kidnapped two episodes back a quick orientation speech (with the assistance of one of them who apparently speaks...Portuguese? I don't know), which pretty much goes "You work for me. You try to escape, I kill you. You try to betray me, I kill you. You want drugs or booze or so on, I got you."

El Señor de los Cielos: lunes (2)

When Aurelio's not talking to Roberto Tapia about singing at what appears to be a party for Isidro (complete with pony), he's talking to his eternally damaged boo Monica. Monica--who, with a little assistance from Good Guy Ramon, is rocking a black dress and heels barely a day after coming out of a coma--doesn't want to be around when Emi inevitably betrays Aurelio, and she wants to take Isidro with her. Aurelio of course isn't down with the latter part, and their conversation bounces between that and Aurelio's relationship with Emi and his accidentally flaunting it in Monica's face after he literally rescued her from Victor's ranch and watched over her in her coma.

And this leads to Monica at long last admitting that her why-was-this-a-thing relationship with Victor was indeed a sort of misguided rebound/coping mechanism vs. her dance with Aurelio. (Praise be, Monica--it only took you a year and change and a bullet wound to see the light there.) Aurelio, for his part, has his own "...do you want to get back with me?" moment...and as messed up as they are, hey...but it passes, and they're arguing again, and Aurelio still won't let her take Isidro from him...

"SENOR DE LOS CIELOS":

Bill C: I'm not that shocked BPN had destroyed Evelyn's law enforcement career & placed her in the same prison as La Felina (who kicked somebody's ass while she was naked in the prison shower LOL).

I'm wondering how long before Monica becomes a liability to Aurelio & he has her whacked (see what happened to Leonor).

"SENOR DE LOS CIELOS"

Bill C: How long before Rivero AKA the Standard Action Hero, decides to expose BPN's corrupt activities with the Narcos to the press ?

I'm sensing his patience is running very THIN due to BPN pushing the Fake News rhetoric in distracting law enforcement, etc.,

Glad El Capo is over. Now on to Mariposa de Barrio. May watch it or not.

GENERAL

hmm, had to take the long way around to find this page,
is it because "telemundo" is not in the labels/links?

La querida del Centauro

the spanish wiki has this posted as 90 episodes ?? (the first season was 51) which will take it to monday july 24th, I'm guessing it's been done filming for a while since Ludwika Paleta (Yolanda) has since given birth to twins, wow, and last night (on the show) they decided to give her electro-shock therapy to see if that would help.

"LA QUERIDA":

Deb: Yolanda got electro-shock therapy ?

Sin Senos si hay Paraiso 2

begins Tuesday, 25 July, it's official, saw the promo!

GENERAL

deb, I think you're right. I accidentally left off the "telemundo" label, and that's apparently why the page is hard to find. I went back just now to try to edit it, but I can't find it in the blogspot place where I made it. In the past, I've been able to edit even after the page has been posted, but for some reason I can't find it. So I'm afraid we'll have to live with the problem until Thursday night, when the second page goes up. But many thanks for identifying the problem.

GENERAL

Oops, no sooner do I say I can't find something than I find it. I've now managed to fix the labels on the Telemundo page, so it should now be more easily found. Again, many thanks to deb for identifying the problem, and to LXV for calling deb's message to my attention.

Mariposa

Did anyone watch Mariposa de Barrio?

Mariposa

I saw it, seemed like they summed up her whole life in the one show, hmm, wondering if her brothers will pull the arms and legs off her husband like they would do to her dolls.

loved Gabriel Porras and Rosalinda Rodríguez (playing Jenni's parents) together as a couple.

I'll probably have to catch up with Mariposa on the weekend; I'm pretty much only curious about it for Gabriel and Rosalinda, at least until they get to the Angelica Celaya-Jenni years.

El Señor de los Cielos: martes, or

Rodrigo Rivero Is Out Of Forks

For once CC3 was my friend, but somewhat ironically this episode was quite light on plot overall. OTOH...

- Felina is still in the custody of the Marines, and Emiliana's henchman Piston (who looks kinda like a younger, fatter Vitaminas) checks in with Lourdes about the whole thing. Lourdes, still hanging out near her Lencho death shrine, demands he somehow rescue Felina and kill anybody in his way, but even he's not that stupid (especially since it appears he's literally the only one of his crew left at this point) and after he checks in with Emi she orders him back to home base.

That last part actually occurs while Emi is trying to spin Felina as a useful asset to Aurelio. Aurelio, who really has been a bit more domineering-asshat than usual so far this season--except, to some degree, with Monica--doesn't really accept it as an excuse for Emi's behavior, but he doesn't shut it down either.

- Aurelio, however, goes back to his sociopath roots when Alba corners him in his den a little later. She knows her firstborn son too well, including his reactions, and after talking a little bit about Feyo's death (in which Aurelio declares he did it because Feyo hurt Alba, and Alba's still on board the "some deaths are necessary" train about this) she wants him to admit he killed Lencho. And after about forty seconds of trying to fall back on the whole Real Killer (tm) thing, Aurelio just gives up and confesses to killing Lencho because he had thrown in with Feyo and Lourdes because she witnessed it. Alba, who says at one point she's no longer surprised by anything Aurelio does, still looks pretty damn surprised about this.

A little before this Alba reiterates to Emi that she still needs to GTFO before the black hole of narco life sucks her in and crushes her, and she also gets to drag Aurelio for the Emi situation in general. So, so far Alba is the second most interesting character this season.

But the most interesting person right now is our Standard Action Hero Rivero. He gets the news about Felina's recapture during the cabinet meeting with Bizarro Pena Nieto, to which BPN basically goes "Whoopie, at least there's some good news!" After the meeting, however, BPN basically tries to blast Rivero for trying to defy him--mainly about Aurelio Casillas--and wonders, like the overgrown brat he is, if Rivero wants to end up in jail...or dead "in the line of duty"...for disobeying the President of Mexico. Rivero in turn insists that finding Aurelio needs to be a priority, since he's personally seen him and knows he's alive...but, when BPN tries to turn it around on him and wonders if they'd be having this discussion if he'd captured Aurelio, hits right back: if they had captured Aurelio Casillas, BPN probably would be in a lot of trouble right now.

And, yes, their argument goes up (well, for us) from there. Rivero gets to blast BPN for the late Elsa Marin (who was evil, but he didn't know that), for his still conspicuously absent mentor Ramiro Silva de la Garza whom I assume is still in Europe, and especially for poor dead Ignacio Miravalle...and he even makes a valid suggestion, that BPN could reclaim some good PR if he opened a proper investigation into why Ignacio killed Leonor Ballesteros. Y'know, BPN's wife? BPN continues to brat out about all this, finally reiterating that Rivero's priority should be to find Victor Casillas. If Garcia wasn't in prison, and if Salazar wasn't with the DEA, I'd be seriously worried about Rivero's chances right now...he's literally the only good guy left in the Mexican government (as we have seen it).

El Señor de los Cielos: martes (2)

Salazar, when he's not keeping Sebastian the artist-turned-informant on task, has continued trying to track down Aurelio's money launderer--whom, it turns out, he now knows is Esperanza Salvatierra (but his boss at the DEA is still clueless about, it seems). And he finally finds her in Puerta Vallarta, showing up conveniently after her afternoon threesome for the conversation they apparently never had before--as she explains--she left him without a word in the wake of Victor and Monica's wedding from hell. But she declares that, while she did lie about what she did, she didn't lie about loving him. Weirdly, unless I missed something, their conversation literally just ends at that point.

Monica, other than some more sniping at "You're going to betray my, uh, your man" Emi and a bit of overt "Oh, God, I was an idiot" reflection over Victor, doesn't really do much in this episode.
- Victor continues sorting out his new stockpile of would-be prostitutes and whatever the fork his master plan is. Skinny, meanwhile, brings in what I think is the first female henchman ever in the entire narcoverse (or second, if you count Felina after she joined Team Feyo): his cousin, nicknamed Baby Girl. Victor, being his current self, straight up says women are "bad for business"; Baby Girl thus has to prove herself by beating up some Sloth looking henchman and nearly cutting his throat. Since Aurelio has literally banged every woman he's not related to on this show except Evelyn Garcia, I have to wonder if that tradition will continue shortly.

That said, the show gets sledgehammery during that party of Aurelio's--which is actually a sort of thank-you party for his crew and family for having his back, and yes Roberto Tapia sings)--when Rutila drags and drags and drags Victor, to the point of saying he's now worse than her dad. To be fair her dad never tried to kill the President, but...really?

And after the party Aurelio, going full Don Cleto, hosts a brief meeting of various cartel overlords (plus Balki the Engineer, who really should have ditched to spend the day with Tata considering what she wore to the party). And he makes a hell of an announcement: he's ready to retire. But he can't do it yet, not while the "new generation" of narcos is out there disrespecting everything and forking it all up. He wants the business to go back to what it was, to respecting its "code." (Like you respected it when you killed Isidro, or Lencho, or...oh, never mind, there isn't enough time for that.) So he busts out $3M in cash; it's his contribution to a war chest, to show the next generation how all this shirt is supposed to be. And Public Enemy Number One is Victor Casillas...

"EL SENOR DE LOS CIELOS"

Bill C: I'm getting a bad feeling that Rivero will NOT make it alive at the end of the 5th Season. He keeps pushing it with BPN by knowing that the President is involved with the Narcos, terrorists, etc.,

We know that Evelyn is in prison for obvious reasons & if Rivero keeps pushing BPN's buttons by bringing up the President's ties to Aurelio & the Narco terrorists, we might either see Rivero in prison or DEAD.

El Señor de Los Cielos

Thank you for all of the recaps. I have been waiting for this to come on but I am behind in watching as I was in the hospital. I appreciate it. Linda K

"EL SENOR DE LOS CIELOS"

Linda K: I'm getting a bad vibe Rivero might NOT be among the living once the 5th Season ends since he keeps getting confrontational with BPN about Aurelio, etc.,

El Señor de los Cielos
You could be right. I won't miss him.
