The squabble in the Córsega hallway continues. RobPablo promised Aristóteles that he would talk to his father, but Audifaz is upset and has nothing to say to RobPablo. Robert questions his attitude and points out that is why Aris left. Imelda advises Audifaz to listen to Juan Pablo, but Audi doesn’t want to be told how to talk to his own son. Robert just wants to help…they should talk like civilized people because there are several things he needs to understand. After Robert and Audifaz leave to talk, Polita hugs Aris and thanks all the saints that they brought him back. Imelda tells Aris she won’t scold him; she just wants him to know that they love him. As the ladies take Aris to Blanca’s place to go eat, Blanca worries about the dinner Julieta is planning, but Julieta tells her not to worry; it’s a surprise and Juan Pablo will cook.
Robert thinks Audifaz is pressuring Aris so much that the fear is holding Aris back. Audi thinks Aris should think of his parents and the family name. RobPablo disagrees…that type of thinking will destroy his relationship with his son. He shouldn’t expect his son to realize the dreams he could never reach. Audi thinks RobPablo is suggesting that he is a failure, but RobPablo clarifies that he should just ask Aris what he wants to do with his life. Audifaz has a marvelous son, but he needs to get to know him and understand him.
GirlTalk at the Bakery: Linda and Marisol advise Dani about Gabriel, but Dani doesn’t care about him…he’s not even a pain anymore…he is an indifference to her. Icknacio calls Marisol to tell her the divorce papers are ready to be signed. She will call him later, but he reminds her that phone calls are not liked; she needs to send a message. When Marisol tells her sisters about the call, Dani tells her she should tell their parents.
At the Córsega table, everyone watches as Aristóteles gobbles down his food; then Polita stokes his hair and starts to spoon-feed him (spoon-feeding grown children must be one of the many Córsega customs).
Audifaz wants Aris to be his pride, but RobPablo wonders about the love for his son. Robert understands it’s not easy, but Aris’s fear is that he won’t reach his father’s goals. Audifaz should understand that his son has his own life and it may not be what Audifaz wants. Aris is an adolescent and still has his own road ahead. RobPablo assure Audifaz that his family is proud of him…they accepts him and loves him as he is, but Audi thinks they don’t think highly of him and doesn’t want that for his son.
Dani points out that Marisol conjured up a huge lie about Icknacio who may be seen around the city at any moment, but Marisol insists that she doesn’t want to tell her parents yet. When Dani advises her that she can’t live a lie just to keep others content, Mari reminds them that their parents don’t believe in divorce. Marisol is mentioning that she needs to think of Frida when Eugenio comes in and asks if everything is ok.
Audifaz thanks RobPablo and tells him he is no longer in debt to him…since he was the one that secured the apartment for them and now RobPablo is back with his family. Since RobPablo found Aris, they are now even. RobPablo is very grateful to him and everything that has happened, so Audi hints that he deserves a reward. RobPablo suspects Audifaz wants payment for renting him the apartment which led him to his family, but he thinks destiny brought him there, not Audifaz.
Later, as RobPablo helps Julieta clean up, he tells her that Audifaz is quite odd and hopes he can better handle the situation with Aris. Julieta wonders if they made a mistake in changing their plans and if RobPablo is he sure he wants to get to know his family. RobPablo doesn’t have a problem with his parents or grandma, but would rather not deal with Audifaz. RobPablo then wonders if something else happened between Julieta and his family. After Julieta recalls Blanca gives her the keys to her home in case she needs something and Julieta refuses to accept them Julieta denies there are problems…but it won’t be easy; they went from being neighbors to being his family, but RobPablo thinks that despite everything, they made the best decision.
At Polita’s home, Audifaz tells Aris that he doesn’t want to talk to him yet because he is still very upset. As Aris is clearly uncomfortable and rolls his eyes, Audifaz wants Aris to look at him when he speaks...he is very glad he returned.
At the Córsega kitchen, Blanca wonders about the surprise Julieta mentioned…they even invited them over. She then tells Dani and Linda about offering the keys to Julieta, but when she asked for Julieta’s keys, she refused. Blanca doesn’t know if she just didn’t have them with her or she just didn’t want to give them to her. They discuss further with Dani defending Julieta, but when Linda gives her two-cent opinion, Blanca reminds them she wants them to be nice to Julieta. Linda is irked that Julieta didn’t give her the keys; it’s suspicious. She continues to put down Julieta because she can’t stand Blanca and really doesn’t like anyone in their house.
On the roof, Xavi writes a song, then goes outside to his piano as Frida and Marisol sit nearby. Mari tells Frida to go with her grandmother and offers to help Xavi. When Xavi asks what she is doing there, she confides that she is going through a divorce and hasn’t told her parents…she has to pretend that all is well when she has nothing…the roof has been her refuge since she was a child. She shares that her husband left her for another woman; and it pains her to know that she has failed. Xavi actually gives her some pretty good advice. Everyone laments giving up what they care most about…without knowing that the best is yet to come. Mari knows she needs to move forward but doesn’t know how. Xavi advises that as long as she doesn’t let go of the past, she won’t be able to look to the future. When she thanks him, he realizes that people should apply their own words to themselves.
Audifaz goes to Aris’s bedroom as Aris looks over his assignments and the test dates. Aris wants to improve his grades. He admires Juan Pablo and all that he does…he would like to be someone like him. Audifaz is not happy.
At Julieta’s apartment, Julieta tells RobPablo that she also invited Ana but she refused because she didn’t feel well. Ana has been upset since she told her they weren’t leaving. Now Julieta is suspicious of how Ana tried to get them to leave and didn’t want her to tell any of his family. It seems Ana wanted them to leave. Just then, their guests, parents and gramma, arrive. [Mexican Version: Blanca wants to know why RobPablo is wearing an apron and tells him to take it off. Imelda adds that, in their family, the men do not cook; and Eugenio gets on the band wagon. When Julieta approaches, Blanca chides her for letting RobPablo cook after she had offered to make the dinner for them. When Imelda mentions “their customs,” RobPablo advises them that he and Julieta have their own customs; and he likes to cook. As RobPablo and Julieta go to the kitchen, Eugenio tells Imelda this is RobPablo’s home and they live by their own rules. In the kitchen RobPablo tells Julieta that his family needs to accept that they have their own ways of doing things—it’s called respect. He wants to know his family, but they shouldn’t be expected to change to the Córsega ways. His parents need to get to know them.]
At Drama House, CatDQ cries as Diana enters. CatDQ sarcastically remarks that she thought Diana was going to go accompany her sister-in -law. When Diana wonders why CatDQ didn’t go to the dinner, CatDQ replies that it was going to be a circus. CatDQ thinks Julieta has pushed them aside for her in-laws. She will never forgive Julieta.
At the dinner, everyone is seated. When RobPablo brings out the pizza platters, Blanca thinks they are going to get full quickly and won’t have room for the main dish. After Robert tells her that is the main dish, Blanca wonders if they didn’t prepare something special. Linda snickers because they are soooo different… like two opposite worlds. Imelda interrupts and assures them that if someone is still hungry, they can go to her house and make something; and Eugenio adds they can also bring bread. When Audifaz wants to know why they are having this dinner, RobPablo announces he and Julieta are getting married. Everyone is speechless until Eugenio starts clapping and everyone follows. Blanca is the first to speak—she thanks God because living in sin had her worried. RobPablo, however, states they never considered they were living in sin, getting married just was not their priority. NotSoLinda starts her tirade—she wants to know if Julieta is sure because everyone knows Julieta can’t stand them. If she gets married with the man she loves, she has to accept his family. Julieta went from hating them to loving them from one moment to the next. RobPablo scolds Linda and tells her to stop (why the heck didn’t her parents try to stop her!), but Linda continues-if she were them, she wouldn’t get married.
At a restaurant, Begonia tells Icknacio she doesn’t want another day to pass without the divorce papers being signed. She doesn’t want to share him with anyone. After she leaves, one of her employees tells Ick that Begonia is like a spoiled child…she wants her toys to herself. He is not the first one she obsesses over.
At the pizza roast, RobPablo advises everyone that the decision is only his and Julieta’s. Julieta thinks they are off to a bad start; she understands NotSoLinda’s concern, but there really is no justification for it. She is sure of what she wants. Imelda intervenes and asks about the wedding date, so RobPablo tells them they are still thinking about it. Marisol wants to know if they are already living together, why worry about it. After Blanca mentions that they need to make sure Icknacio comes for the wedding, she notices the looks the girls give each other and thinks there is something wrong, but they deny it. When Marisol wishes RobPablo and Julieta the best, Blanca thinks Marisol has the perfect marriage that is a good example.
Later, in the Córsega home, Mari feels bad that they think so well about Icknacio. When she shares that she will sign the divorce papers the next day, Dani assures her she will start a new life then. After Mari leaves, Dani looks at her phone and disappointed that there are no messages from Gabriel.
Mari talks to Frida who thinks Mari needs to be prepared for the type of wedding she will want, but she is afraid of divorce. Frida wonders if her parents will divorce after all.
At Julieta’s kitchen, the ladies offer to help with the clean up. Julieta insists she can handle it herself, but Imelda thinks they can also talk about the wedding while they help. Imelda and Blanca start mentioning places. Blanca will take care of the guest list. Polita wants to be a “madrina.” Julieta gets frustrated so she goes to living room where the men are talking. Audifaz mentions that Tulio thinks he is better than they are. He got married to a woman who was almost a millionaire. When Robert wonders if money was the reason Tulio distanced himself from the family, Audifaz suspects something else happened with his brother. Eugenio adds that Tulio hasn’t had an easy life. Ana’s issue affected him…she couldn’t have children. She didn’t like Juan Pablo very much…probably because she was jealous that he was the favored one in the family.
Julieta and Linda have a rumble. Julieta won’t tolerate her attitude…Linda doesn’t know her well enough to say she is double faced. Linda thinks Julieta is being pretentious, though intelligent. Julieta assures Linda that they will get married and be happy despite her objections. When Linda continues, Julieta points out that if she wanted to cause problems with her family or take RobPablo away, she could have easily done it. Julieta hasn’t told Blanca about the pirated purse and how Linda probably kept the money. Linda warns Julieta that she is dealing with the devil, but Julieta isn’t tremblin’ in her boots; she won’t allow Linda to mess with her relationship.
Ana gets a trivial yet bothersome text from Julian, “What’s up? Good Evening.”
RobPablo and Julieta discuss Ana. RobPablo has noticed the way she looks at him; she is strange. Julieta shares how Ana has her stumped…she was angry because they didn’t leave to NY. RobPablo thinks it’s odd that she didn’t like him when he was a child. Julieta then comments that RobPablo clearly awakens passion in his family and shares that Linda warned her she was dealing with the devil, but Julieta is not shaken…she grew up with her own family.
Audifaz confides in Polita that Aris wants to be like Juan Pablo (isn’t that what he wanted?). He gets upset when he hears Xavi playing the piano and starts yelling out the window.
Julieta and RobPablo are in bed listening to all the yelling. Julieta voices her concern about living so close to his family…it’s not the best option. She will go ask for her job back.
Linda finally gets a response from Bruno and wonders if she should respond. Meanwhile Bruno in his kitchen knowing she probably won’t sleep.
Audifaz continues to rant that there are no rules in that building. When Aris approaches, Audifaz shuts up.
Next Morning—
Eugenio comes into bakery and Blanca starts talking about how she envisions the wedding. Eugenio reminds her not to butt in. Blanca thinks it should be a big celebration since they never celebrated any special days with their son. Eugenio wonders if she has bothered to ask him what he wants, but Blanca doesn’t think it’s a matter of what Juan Pablo wants…it’s what they can give him.
Julieta goes to kitchen as Blanca arrives with breakfast. Blanca thinks she took long in answering the door and that is why Julieta should give her the keys….she could have entered without bothering her. Julieta clarifies that she will not give her the keys and assures her that it’s not that she doesn’t trust her. They each have their own homes; and she wants her space because privacy is important. When Blanca thinks she must have a secret, Julieta denies it. As Blanca starts sniffling, she tells Julieta not to worry…she understands and will leave her in HER space.
Linda turned out to be quite the witch and on display to the whole family even. I was so glad Julieta called her out on her crappola and on the knockoff purse/pocketing the leftover money. It makes me enjoy Hugo playing her.
At least Polita "asked" about taking the pizza leftovers.
It was good to see Robert and Julieta pooling their info on Ana and realizing something is odd with her.
Not surprsing the "key" is still an issue.
"Fearless Julieta vs. Loose-Lipped Linda", "The squabble in the Córsega hallway continues" and "At Drama House" were great but “Linda warns Julieta that she is dealing with the devil, but Julieta isn’t tremblin’ in her boots; she won’t allow Linda to mess with her relationship” was incredible and my favorite.
I thought the reaction to Julieta and Robert’s engagement was astounding. I expected both parents to get up and run to the couple with tears of joy and hugs. Being the less emotional of the two, I was relieved that Eugenio started clapping, but even that was very underwhelming. There was unrestrained joy at Robert staying but almost nothing to celebrate Robert and the woman who gave up her dreams for that to occur.
“Julieta then comments that RobPablo clearly awakens passion in his family and shares that Linda warned her she was dealing with the devil, but Julieta is not shaken…she grew up with her own family”. How sad!
“CatDQ thinks Julieta has pushed them aside for her in-laws. She will never forgive Julieta.” No. Sadly, that is very likely true. Nor will she ever really love her daughter, who richly deserves it.
Jarifa, I couldn’t agree more with you on your comments regarding Linda. What a beyotch.
“Everyone laments giving up what they care most about…without knowing that the best is yet to come. When she thanks him, he realizes that people should apply their own words to themselves”. Very touching.
“In the kitchen RobPablo tells Julieta that his family needs to accept that they have their own ways of doing things—it’s called respect. He wants to know his family, but they shouldn’t be expected to change to the Córsega ways. His parents need to get to know them”. Except for his questionable fashion sense (his orange shirt), he is pretty much perfect.
Speaking of perfect...thank you! This was wonderful Rgv Chick! Thank you.
Diana
Speaking of Linda, and in the words of always nice Diana, "what a beyotch"! So so true. So glad she is getting played by Bruno. Wait until she finds out Bruno is Juli's brother. I wonder if she will start sucking up to her then.
The reaction to their engagement was definitely underwhelming. I guess they felt the food was too.
Glad Juli stood her ground with Blanca but can't believe Blanca started to cry--sniffling. Juli was very nice about it. Blanca is moving too fast, trying to make up for lost time with JP, ingratiate herself into the family etc. Juli was right, they don't need to live so closely to his family.
So JP was the favorite of the family? I wonder if it is because he was a boy? I wonder how that made Marisol feel all those years ago? Now we have a little insight into Ana's motivations for taking him to the casa hogar. If JP was doted on in the exaggerated manner we can imagine back then, Ana's inability to have children, and witnessing the doting, probably hurt her terribly and she took it on a child. Not right at all but I'm starting to see how all of it, over years, could have pushed her to craziness.
So glad you mentioned the food too Carvivlie. Excellent! :)
You are right in that it appears JP was doted on. Incessantly it would appear too. Marisol seems so kind and loving, I don't think the (likely) overt favoritism affected her. She seems quietly drawn to her brother and always has a sweet smile to bestow on him.
I'm a bit perturbed that Gabi doesn't seem to be coming around much in her opinion of Julieta either. All things in time. I hope.
Diana
I agree with the comments regarding the family's reaction to the engagement announcement...what a disappointment that must have been for Robert. Julieta probably expected it, and she knows now what she is up against...poor thing, no wonder she is already having regrets about not leaving for New York. The Corsega women just don't stop...they are turning out to be real PITAs...so inconsiderate and domineering.
I hate to say this, but maybe Robert was lucky to have been brought up by his adoptive parents. can you imagine how he would have turned out if he was raised by a superdoting mother and grandmother? He may have become another Hugo...
I was pleasantly surprised with Xavi's advice...and that he realized that the shoe fit him perfectly.
Oh and I do hope Icknacio gets dropped like a hot potato once Begonio gets tired of him. It was very brave of that employee to talk badly about her to her boyfriend.
Jarifa I did notice that Polita actually waited until the food was cleared from the table and asked it...it must have taken much restraint on her part.
I think Dani is coming around to Juli. She smiled when she heard the engagement. I think Linda is just super jealous of Juli, along with being a spoiled brat who uses men for gifts.
I really wanted Juli to smack Linda when they were in the bedroom!
Ignacio doesn't love Begonia and I don't think she loves him either. He is ambitious and thinks she will help him and she wants a pet. Perfect for each other.
Poor Julieta, can you imagine what she is going to have to face when the "family" plans her wedding.
I have to give it to Julieta. She is being ever so patient even with Linda. She could have outed her to the whole family about the handbag (and all of the details like the extra money that she basically stole from her own mother) but hasn't so far. She should.
Poor Julieta. Her own family is dreadful and her future family is overwhelming her. Linda is nasty. Why is she so jealous of Julieta?
I saw a preview for the upcoming 10pm show, and Gabe Soto has a very different role than the one he had in Vino...and...no vests !!! #winwin
Blanca just keeps coming. No thoughtful pauses. In fact, no thought. Period. I don't know how Julieta will ever be able to stop the steamrolling. It is happening with lightening speed. I think you are right Rgv Chick, the only hope they have for a peaceful wedding would be to elope. It would be shame but Blanca may leave them no choice.
Jarifa, Julieta has indeed been patient. And that little lynx Linda knows exactly what buttons to push doesn't she? I can't wait for her to find out her little crush is Julieta's brother. She likely has always been able to wrap guys around her little finger and his attitude is likely one she hasn't gotten before. Rejection.
Diana
"spoon-feeding grown children must be one of the many Córsega customs"
Maybe just the men get the spoon-feeding? Honestly, Eugenio and Dani are the only two family members worth hanging around.
Blanca has a lot of nerve trying to get Julieta to be traditional 1940s style when two out of three of her own daughters can't cook.
ITA Linda is so jealous of Julieta, who's an independent professional and has a wonderful guy who adores her. Little girl, you are so out of your league taking on Julieta.
And the rudeness about the pizzas. No excuse. But it did get Polita's Tupperware seal of approval.
That scene between Marisol and Xavi was my favorite. It was nice to see them connect with one another like this. I find it interesting how Xavi is giving great advice to her when he should really be taking it himself. (Glad he noticed it) This is going to be a couple right? I’m on board. The music worked beautifully for both of them and I expect more scenes of them supporting each other. Xavi will help her find the positive light of her life and Marisol will help him either 1. How to kickstart his career once more and or show him too the positive side of life. Maybe Marisol is just what he needs to get him out of those dark days.
Their reactions to the pizza were so funny. I have never seen anyone look at pizza like that and when they finally announced the engagement…yikes. I also very much appreciated the last scene with Blanca and Julieta. Imagine if Blanca had the key. I could just imagine her tiptoeing into the apartment and scaring the living daylights out of Julieta.
I agree with all the rest of the comments on here. Can't wait for tonights episode.
-Jackie
I think your thoughts regarding Mari and Xavi are right on target. That was a really nice interchange between two lost souls...each supporting and lifting each other's spirits.
I can also see how Blanca would probably sneak in and surprise Julieta.
I watch the Mexican episodes as they come up on Univision. I don't watch future episodes...I like the element of surprise :-)
This ran over by a couple of minutes due to one too many commercials earlier.
Eugenio and Robert are at the gym together. Eugenio reminisces when Robert was a child with him at the gym. In the sauna, they discuss Ana, her inability to have children, and her odd behavior. Eugenio thinks that her anger really wasn't directed at Juan Pablo but was because she couldn't have children of her own. Robert tells him how angry she got when they cancelled their plans.
Julián sends Ana a text saying he misses her. Later on her way to see Imelda, she gets a text saying he is sick. Can she come and see him? He misses her. Ana is upset by the message but she does stop by later in the early evening with some food for him. He greets her with a smile but then she is critical of how messy his place is. He says that he has always lived that way since he was abandoned. She can tell he needed his mother. If he would have had one, his life would have been different. Did she come to just keep him quiet or because she was worried about him? At this point, Ana is not sure if she is afraid of him or just feels sorry for him. She leaves.
Daniela and Gabriel wake up with a start, each in their own beds, with the shocking thought that they like each other!!! They both look petrified with fear. Later, Gabriel, has to convince himself it was only a nightmare. He repeats: He does not like Daniela, He did not like Daniela, He is not going to like Daniela.
Imelda tells Blanca she will have to give Julieta time to get used to her to be able to trust her (and give her that key) : )
Marisol comes clean with Imelda and Blanca about getting a divorce. Marisol tells them Ignacio cheated on her and is living with another woman. Blanca and Imelda try to talk her out of it. All marriages are like roller coasters. Daniela and Linda overhear and come to Marisol's defense while Blanca and Imelda want to talk to Ignacio. Marisol doesn't want to suffer any more humiliation. She is ready to sign the divorce papers. She is going to be better off without him. She leaves for her court appointment. On her way, she runs into Julieta who notices how upset she is. Julieta takes her in her car so they can talk. When she leaves her off at the court house, Julieta tells her she is not supporting her just because she is her sister-in-law but because they are women and women must support each other. Julieta tells her to contact her if she needs anything. In the meantime, Imelda and Blanca are complaining to Daniela and Linda that they did not tell them about Marisol's break up. They could have helped. Linda asks if they could have helped Ignacio not cheat in Marisol. Daniela stands up to Blanca saying that Marisol's problems are hers alone. Blanca insists Marisol's problems are the family's problems. Linda pipes up with the family is there to support them certainly but not to decide what Marisol should do. Imelda says sometimes a woman has to put up with the worst to save her home. Daniela concludes that Blanca and Imelda are from another era and that now women don't have to put up with what they used to justnto have a roof over their head.
Audifaz doesn't want to go to work. He is still stuck in the fact that he is not a hero anymore for his son. His son now sees him as she is with all of s defects. His day doesn't get any better when he and Polita are sampling cookies at the super and the sample girl thinks he is Polita's father and he must be around 70, right? Later, Polita convinces him that he is her super hero and is just right fior her. She loves him. Polita then talks to Aristóteles and asks him not to mention that he wants to be like Jusn Pablo in front of his father because it makes him feel bad and she thinks he is jealous of Juan Pablo. He can also admire his dad. He is a good person and a hard worker so they have to support him. Aristóteles agrees.
Robert runs into Ana outside the apartment building as she is coming to see Imelda. She invites Robert and Julieta to supper tonight at her house. Robert says he will check with Julieta and get back to her. His uncle Tulio wants to get to know him. As Ana turns to go into the building, Robert is flooded by a wave of memories in which he sees himself as a little boy on the sidewalk. Ana of the past approaches him and he greets her as "Aunt" Ana. Ana sharply corrects him: she is not his aunt. In his memory he follows his younger self into the building and into the basement where behind some bricks in the wall he has a box of toys hidden. Suddenly, Robert finds himself in the basement and retracing his memory, he finds his toy box hidden in the wall. He blows off the dust and opens it to find all of his treasures.
Back at home, Eugenio finds out about Marisol's divorce from Imelda and Blanca. He is aggravated that she didn't tell them anything and to think that they all had supper together and Ignacio was there just pretending. He will never be putting a foot in there home again. Yes, he knows that Frida is his daughter but he does not deserve her. A real man does not abandon his daughter or destroy his marriage just to have a fling. Eugenio says the one who needs all of their support is Marisol. She needs to feel that they are her family. Earlier when Audifaz hears the news, he wants to go beat Ignacio up but Polita convinces him not to.
At the courthouse, Marisol has been joined by her aunts Amalia and Belén. They are all seated in the hall waiting for their appointment. Ignacio makes the mistake of turning down the hall and Amalia jumps up ready to take him down. Belén tells her not to get down in the dirt with that worm. Ignacio baits them by asking Marisol if she couldn't come alone but had to bring the whole lot of them with her. Amalia is up again. It looks like they are ready to box it out. Belén calms her down again: they are in a courthouse and could end up in jail. Finally Marisol and Ignacio have their turn and sign the divorce papers. Ignacio takes off his ring and says now Marisol can do what she wants with her like and so can he. Amalia still wants to best him up. Begoña meets him and has a surprise for him but Amalia is still hot on his trail. He and Begoña start running to their car.
Robert with his toy box goes to Blanca's apartment where she is with Imelda, Eugenio and Ana. He tells them how he remembered where they were in the basement. Ana is looking worried. They all want to hear what he remembered. A lot of memories game suddenly: what he was playing and the candy he liked. Imelda is sure that he is going to remember even more. Eugenio says that the four years he spent with them will not be lost. Robert addresses Ana next saying he also remembered her going into the building with her clothing and face. He remembered her very well. Ana is now visibly upset no matter how much she forces her smile.
Julieta is in her car driving and talking to Robert on the phone who is getting ready to go to Tuio's and Ana's house. Robert telkls her that he now believes Ana did not like him when he was a child. She was rude to him and said she was not his aunt. In the meantime, Blanca is sending messages to Julieta to see what time she will be home. She just wants to drop off the food she made for them. Julieta is driving and is not answering. The messages just keep coming and coming. At one point an exasperated Julieta almost wishes she had just given her the damn keys so she would not have to be bothered by all of these texts. Julieta puts the phone on the back seat and then decides to put it back on the dashboard. As she reaches for, it she hits the car in front of her. The police/ambulance arrive at the accident scene. Julieta is okay but finds herself in a cervical collar because her neck hurts. She calls Robert at Tulio's. She is going home. Robert will see her there.
Robert is already at Tulio's and Ana's house. Tulio is so glad he is back and he has turned out to be a fine upstanding man. Robert tells how his adoptive parents treated him so well. He was lucky. Tulio asks how he feels now he has found his blood relatives. Robert is very happy. Robert recounts what he remembered today, and the first face he remembered was Ana's. Tulio wonders why he would remember Ana's face first and not his mother's. Ana says that the memories could be confusing. Robert thinks not because they were very clear. He adds that he does not think that Ana liked him. Tulio adds that it is rare for Ana to like anyone. When Tulio hears about Robert's engagement, he says he is not too sure that marriage necessarily brings happiness, right Ana? Robert thinks it is easier than what everyone thinks. If love is there, it all works out. Where is Julieta? She must be on her way., Robert toasts with Tulio with some wine but will not do the same with Ana because it (doing a double clink) is bad luck. Robert tries to clear the air about the New York cancellation. It is obvious that Tulio knows nothing about it. Ana wants to toast Robert when he thanks her for all she did and tells her how much Julieta appreciated it. Robert's excuse this time is that he is not drinking anymore because he is going to drive. Robert asks why Tulio doesn't visit the family. Tuliom says Robert is just getting to know his family. This isn't time to talk about it but he does add thatnthe Córcegas have a very strange concept of what a family should be. They want to be involved in everybody's business. Robert has no idea of he damage they did to them with their meddling and lack of compassion. Robert leaves. Tuliomis happy to be called "uncle".
Blanca is still trying to contact Julieta. Daniela tells her to let up on Julieta already. She is being a little "intense". She needs to give space to Marisol and to Julieta. Blanca thinks that Daniela needs a boyfriend at her age . . . Daniela says her mother thinks that a man solves everything. Daniela needs a job to make her dream come true.
Julieta arrives at the apartment building and runs into Linda who is her usual rude self. Julieta has had enough. She tells her off and shuts her up as she twists Linda's nose into submission. Julieta goes in. Marisol arrives next and tries to calm Limda down as she is sure that Julieta broke her nose.
Julieta arrives at her door and unbeknownst to her Blanca is watching for her through the peep hole in her door. When Blanca sees the cervical collar, she knows Julieta had an accident. She knows now why Julieta didn't answer the messages. Blanca and Imelda decide to go see her completely ignoring Linda and her twisted nose. Marisol just asks Linda what she idd to get her nose twisted
Julieta has managed to get to her bed. She is stressed out wondering if this was a sign tha she should have gone somewhere far away. The doorbell starts ringing and keeps ringing. Julieta does not answer the door. Blanca is telling Imelda that if they had the ke they could just go in and check on her. Imelda tells Blanca Julieta could just die in there like a dog. Next, they start calling her name an slapping on the door. Maybe she took some sleeping pills. Julieta covers her head with a pillow.

I especially enjoyed:
Robert remembering his past. I really thought they did a good job portraying it through his eyes as a child.
Robert avoiding toasting with Ana
Julieta twisting Linda's nose
Blanca harping on how they could just go in and check on Julieta if they had her KEY.
This family would drive me crazy. Everyone needs some personal space. Poor Julieta is just being overwhelmed by Blanca , and Linda is being so nasty. I hope that they do not drive a wedge between her and sweet Robpab.
Ana is really sweating now that Robpab is remembering things.
"Imelda tells Blanca she will have to give Julieta time to get used to her to be able to trust her (and give her that key) : )" was my favorite of many.
“Eugenio reminisces when Robert was a child with him at the gym. In the sauna, they discuss Ana, her inability to have children, and her odd behavior”. Jarifa you seamlessly conveyed the wide range of emotions and discussions perfectly.
“Suddenly, Robert finds himself in the basement and retracing his memory, he finds his toy box hidden in the wall. He blows off the dust and opens it to find all of his treasures”. One of the most endearing scenes in TN history. I felt a lump in my throat. It was masterfully written, shot and acted.
From terrible advice “Imelda says sometimes a woman has to put up with the worst to save her home” (I’m speechless) to sage wisdom “Julieta tells her she is not supporting her just because she is her sister-in-law but because they are women and women must support each other”. Last night was chock full of this, that and the other, wasn’t it?
At least Eugenio stood up to Ignacio. I was waiting for Blanca to run to her daughter and envelop her in her arms. Where is that tenderness we saw early on? It’s all appearances with Blanca. Where is her heart?
“Later, Polita convinces him that he is her super hero and is just right fior her. She loves him”. I’m happy we got to see the softer, caring side of Polita. You could tell she meant every soothing word and gesture. When she softly stroked his cheek, there was no shred of doubt that she loves him. He is so fortunate.
Ana is now visibly upset no matter how much she forces her smile. You could feel her fear last night. Like a wild animal that has been caged, she is defenseless as she realizes she is now cornered. Her scenes with Robert at her house mirrored her discomfort and the fact she is totally ill at ease with Robert. A fact not lost on Tulio. Interesting that the memories Robert is recalling first are with Ana. Children are so perceptive. He knew Ana didn’t like him and sadly, he was right. He has paid for 34 years of loss.
I hope Blanca's relentlessness is due to the fact she wants to try and be with Robert (and to a lesser degree Julieta) to savor his presence and try and recoup for the precious time lost. To be fair, she doesn't seem that obsessed with her daughters, but that might be because they are under her roof and under her watchful eye.
I liked Dani and Gabe realizing there is an attraction, despite their wish there not be.
If I liked or cared about Ana at all, I might be intrigued about what is brewing with her and Julian. But I don't so I'm not. Ack.
So much to ponder!
I am so happy to be watching this. Every episode brings sparkle and sunshine. As do the recaps. Shine on Jarifa. Thank you!
Diana
Thanks, Susanlynn and Diana!
Susanlynn, I couldn't take a living situation like that. I would run away from home.
Diana, ITA. I sense almost desperation in Blanca's approach to Robert which I think is due to what you so aptly described as her trying to "savor his presence and try to recoup for the precious time lost." In spite of her smothering ways, I feel sorry for her. I am really enjoying this so much, too.
Thanks for the recap Jarifa! I agree I thought the scene of Robert remembering his past was a beautiful director’s choice. I wonder if he’ll realize what Ana did through one of these trigger flashbacks.
Diana, I was quite speechless too. Marisol telling her mom and grandmother about her divorce must have been so hard for her and I can’t believe they just couldn’t understand that this is whats best for her. Dani coming to the rescue (and Linda) defending Marisol was great. Love that sister relationship.
I know that they’re upset but I’m getting the feeling that the grandmother is still more hostile towards Dani (is that just me?)….which is unfortunate. She needs to open up her eyes and see the amazing woman Dani really is.
I love how Eugenio was the one that tried to open everyone’s mind. “We need to support Marisol” Um yes you do which is the complete opposite of what the abuela and Blanca pulled. Now that we signed the divorce can we get rid of Ick-nacio?
I really wished I cared more for Ana so the scenes would seem more interesting but at this point every time she comes on my screen I’m rolling my eyes. The truth needs to come out. She needs to deal with those consequences. Also I don’t really get the point of Julian as a character? Is he just there to torture Ana some more?
Dani and Gabriel had a dream where they realized they like each other. Well it was about time. I laughed as Dani tried to deny it was a dream about Gabe.

Unfortunately I think this part is really accurate: "Robert asks why Tulio doesn't visit the family. Tulio says Robert is just getting to know his family. This isn't time to talk about it but he does add that the Córcegas have a very strange concept of what a family should be. They want to be involved in everybody's business. Robert has no idea of he damage they did to them with their meddling and lack of compassion." If there is any redemption or understanding of Ana's horrific deed, one can maybe understand that Imelda's wish for Tulio to divorce Ana because she could not have children might explain her action. It is interesting that Robert only remembers her. Ana all will be revealed in time.
Just wait till the family discovers that Julieta doesn't want children! Fortunately Robert loves her unconditionally.
Everyone has mentioned my favorite scenes--Robert'smemeory and finding his box, Dani and Gabe realizing they like each other although I think they already knew they just hadn't accepted it, and Amalia wanting to attack Icknacio.
The dinner at Tulio's was indeed interesting. I wondered about Robert's refusal to toast...could it be that subconsciously he knows Ana is not to be trusted...he already knows she didn't like him as a child. Tulio's advice about the family, although unfortunate, was justified IMO. If Robert even considers his mother's and grandmother's advice it could sever his relationship with Julieta permanently.
Blanca's and Imelda's reaction to Marisol's announcement did not surprise me at all. They are so stubborn and demanding when it comes to their "customs." And, I agree with Jackie, the sister's coming to Marisol's defense, especially Dani was awesome! I think Dani mat least made Blanca think twice about being more supportive. Imelda is completely unbendable.
And yes, the truth will come out. For Ana's sake, I hope some may forgive her. I will not.
I thought I had detected a bit of reluctance on Ignacio's part earlier about the divorce. Wrong. Again. Jackie, ITA. Let's hope Icky doesn't darken our screens ever again. That said, I feel we will have to be subjected to see what the "surprise" his new love has for him. Sigh...

Was it Diana's post that used the term "steamrolling" to describe Blanca and Imelda? Great minds think alike! Those two are unbelievable, yet there is a thread of truth/reality in every thing they do.
Blanca and Imelda and the house key issue is really pushing my patience. Can you just imagine Coitus Interruptus between Julieta and Roberto, if Blanca and Imelda could let themselves into the apartment at any old time??? Well, maybe that would serve B&I right if they got an eyeful! Those two have no concept of personal space. Boundaries, people!!! No wonder all their kids turned out somewhat nuts. Except Roberto, and only because he was kidnapped then adopted and raised by normal people.
When Imelda announced that if the pizza was not enough food for the family, everyone could come to her place and she'll cook more food for the was about the rudest thing a guest could say. I wanted to throw something at her on my TV screen. Muy mal educado!
Oooooh, the mandatory (per Telenovela Rules) cervical collar makes an appearance in this telenovela. LOL
A couple of episodes ago, Roberto's convo with Audifaz about Ari's ADD seemed like a very good PSA about it. Well done in showing how people with ADD are often very intelligent.
Linda is a real piece of work.
Rob was definitely playing Ana. From the moment he looked at her surrounded by his family to pointedly tell her that he remembered her; keeping her unsettled at dinner by not toasting her water, and then when she got wine, not toasting her wine. He kept making pointed remarks at Ana. He is definitely playing and testing her.
Loved, loved the scene of Rob watching himself as a little boy in the basement. So well done.
I thought Gabi knew he liked Dani. He has always seemed more self aware. And he was always making excuses to coming around and then telling her to admit how she feels. I think the writers made a little mistake here. But I enjoyed watching Gabi work out!
Well if we had any doubts why poor Marisol didn't want to tell Blanca and Imelda those were erased. Could they have been any less compassionate? Where was the anger for her? Only towards her for not fighting. At least Audi wanted to go beat Iggie up. Poor Marisol having to stay in that house. I hope Blanca and Imelda come around quickly.
If Ana is/was so rich, why didn't her clothes look that way back then?
So I keep thinking: This family is a mess. Rob might not have turned out this way if he grew up with the Corcegas (? I forget how to spell it) But he's a good person full of love and kindness. If you think about it despite the crazy family that they are you can still see the love within them all. They value family above all and there's so many instances where that's clear. I'd like to think that if Robert did grow up with them he's still carry the good heart that he has. He would have been a protector to his sisters and he probably would not have shared the same values as his mother and grandmother. Dani doesn't. Then again life has made her hard shell but I don't know I feel like somehow they would have turned out the same. That's why it's truly a big deal what Ana did. She created such a tragic story. Almost completely unforgivable.
Doris, "Can you just imagine Coitus Interruptus between Julieta and Robert" that made me laugh. And that is exactly what I was thinking about too!
Carvivlie, I think Gabo subconsciously knew he liked her thus the dream haha. But I think that all those times he thinks he's doing it to bother Dani and because she owes him money. In his head, she caused him damage and his excuses are for Dani to pay him. Even during their first kiss he says something came over him and that it was a stupid mistake. We all know he didn't care about the money. He just wanted to mess with her because he likes her and doesn't realize! I think that's adorable. They're falling for each other hard and I am ready for the love story.

I agree that Robpab was lucky to be raised by adoptive parents. He is a great guy.
I think we are all in agreement that Robert is a wonderful person. I agree that credit is due his adoptive parents. Is there room for them in all this mayhem? I am curious but perhaps its best for their own well being that they stay far, far away.
I also think Robert has a kind heart which would have remained true no matter where he was raised. We will never know the man he might be now if things were different. I do think he will be a healing catalyst.

"That's why it's truly a big deal what Ana did. She created such a tragic story. Almost completely unforgivable". Very insightful Jackie. Great comment.
Rene (Audifaz) is always over the top . I liked him when he played a priest What tn was that?

I'm hoping it will live up to the reviews and be a verra verra fun read.
Pad TAd !!! FUego !!! I knew that someone here would remember . Remember that gorgeous Friesian horse that BIg ED rode in that show ? and the Fabulous Baking Brothers skinny dipping ? Good times. That is when they still put priests in the tekenovrlas.
Oh I remember Yanez's Friesian horse in FELS. That horse (Capricio?) was the. most. intelligent. character of all in that hot mess.
Next best horse is Seamus from the recent refrito of Poldark. I could watch that beautiful horse run along the shore all day long.
