Caer En Tentacion #21, 11/14/17: Living Dangerously

Carolina admits to Lola that it’s her test and suggests to her that it’s best to wait till you’re married to have kids (PSA#1001).  She determines she’s not preggers and calls Damian right away to let him know.  She’s been worried her kids might tell Santiago—Why?  (You figure it out, Dam.)

At the grand manse, Santi has finally finished the kitchen remodel.  He and Raquel are sad to see this day come because now they’ll have to forgo their daily chats and heart-to-hearts.  Santi thanks her for helping him get on his feet financially with the business.  Thanks to her and Dam he’s now having to turn away business.

Godoy and Antonio discuss the fact that both Caro and Dam were alive, and he was actually conscious after the accident.  Godoy conjectures that he must  know who Caro’s murderer was; they also must assume it was somebody close to them, somebody in their inner circle who was extorting them for the cash.  Why?  Because, says Godoy, there were no complaints filed for extortion or harassment or anything else by Dam and to have done that would have exposed his and Caro’s great sin to both families.  Godoy suggests they concentrate their efforts on finding who in their group of acquaintances could be the criminal.

Santi and Raq argue about her wanting to do the DNA test.  He fears she’ll take away Benjamin and the boy is his—and that’s that.  She tries to explain she only wants more answers since there’s so much they didn’t know.  She has no intention of taking Benji away from him.  (Viewerville fears, though that the telenovela gods may have different plans if Mimi gets wind of the truth and/or Dam regains consciousness and they learn that he really is Dam’s love-child.)

Mia acts like a snot to her Tia Cinthia, asking Cin where she’s been.  Cin says something like now Mia’s going to be spying on her also?  Mia says she’s learned that Cin was in a hospital because she was a [no-good, rotten, stinking] druggie and storms off.

Federico comes down and he chats with Cin about having started work at the factory.   He’s become wise to the fact that neither his grannie or his daddy’s cousin want him there.  It’s as if they really mean to shut her and Raq out and take everything away from them.  He promises he won’t let that happen.

Juan the Stalker calls Lola to yell at her for sicking the police on him.  “—You should have died like your friend, Patricia!  You hear me!”  She drops the phone she’s so panicked.

Meanwhile, Raq visits Dam in the hospital and tells him a couple of times that Carolina is dead. She gripes to him about hiding the fact that Benji was really his and Caro’s son.  She reminds him of the time he refused to even think of her and him having another child, kidding/complaining they’d be like grandparents to the kid, but they made love anyway.

Caro puts her secret plan into action.  She mends fences with the hubby and they get busy.   Now, if she gets preggers with Dam she can easily claim it is Santi and hers.

Next morning Dam and Caro text about his thinking he’d have liked being father to her baby—though he’s got Raq lying naked on his stomach.  Caro calls him crazy..

At School, Lola asks how his mother took finding him in bed with her.  He says it’s all good—all normal.  So she’s used to finding him in bed with girls?  No, he explained Lola was his girlfriend.  Lola is impressed and pleased.  What more does he need to do to prove his feelings, since he’s already declared himself to her mother?

At the factory, Andres has the Head of Security place another camera in the Banquet Hall without letting Dam know.

•  Nico and Mia reminisce of the time he asked Mia to his house and they were caught by Lola and Juan.

Nicolas and Mia spend time together and she tells him there’s never going to be anything serious between them.  She gets a text from Joaquin of the now junked Jeep threatening that he knows she was behind the fire.  Nico promises her that if Joaquin tries anything he’ll have to deal with him; he’s going to protect her no matter what.  They kiss. They get interrupted by Juan and Lola.

At the banquet house/office, Dam and Caro are kissing up a storm.  She pulls away cuz she’s so confused over this whole situation.  He admits something’s changed him: he’s fallen in love with her.  They get busy on the kitchen table again.

Lola complains to Laura about giving her away to Juan.  She denies it, but even so Lola’s been threatened because of it.  Lola tells her to find her sense of self-esteem and not to let herself be mentally bullied or physically beaten any longer.  Lola must give this man up and get free of him, emotionally.  She knows better than most since she was involved in a similar relationship once, just as sick.

Tonio wants Godoy to question Vicente’s ex-wife, Lisa, again as he’s now become their lead suspect.  Certainly, he wanted to get his hands on that cabin since she took ownership of her parents’ house.  Tonio then gets a call from the judge and tells Godoy that the judge is sending out a written order for the DNA test to be done.  He feels sorry for Santi who’s lost his wife and now may lose his son, at least figuratively, if not actually literally.

Raq and Santi have driven to the cabin to look around more.  He admits to her that he doesn’t really want to dig around there any longer.  There’s nothing there that really interests him; it’s too painful and he wants to just leave it be and move on with his life.  She, though, cannot do that.  There were so many secrets and she wants to know what Caro really meant to Dam—what she, his wife really meant to him as well.

Santi gives Raq a pep talk about all her good deeds and accomplishments since she feels she was nothing but her hubby’s shadow.  They go inside.  She noses around the kitchen and living room and finds a wine bottle with a picture in it.  Turns out that the picture had notes on the back.  While Santi looks through Caro’s closet and finds a pair of lacy knickers…..

…we observe Dam and Caro enjoying the last of the wine, cozying up to each other by the fire.  She has a selfie of them she’s gotten printed up and she is writing a note on the back.  Caro has written that this love might overcome any obstacle.  Dam writes ‘We shall preserve this room always as a place of happiness.’

Santi looks stunned as he and Raquel read what’s been written and saved on the back of the photo.  Reality is finally hitting him square across the chops.  Raq isn’t satisfied.  She’s got to mark the space as hers now and disrobes.  Santi isn’t gettin’ with the plan, though and stands there drop-jaw impactado.

Outside, meanwhile, Vicente, drunk as a skunk and in another funk, begins nosing around the strange black SUV parked in the driveway of the cabin.  He tiptoes to the window and peaks in.  He sees Santi there.  Does he see Raq there half nude making her move on his ex-BIL????

Remember, folks, that there's no episodio on Thursday night due to Music Premios.

Thanks for the discussion page. Why keep going back to the lustshack of
Death? That is nothing but trouble.
Is raqual seriously thinking ofdoing the deed in that bed. I really hope
Santi snaps her out of it. And to make matters worst, the creepy bro in
Law comes around pickled peeping thro The window. These people are in
A hot mess.
Their children are very very sad.Mia
Is scary. If seems that the adults in their lives haven't paid much
Attention to them.
I didn't see all the episode but what I did see was Very troubling. They need Releaf.
Lookin forward to the recap
Jardinera. Thanks

Santiago is probably thinking Lola is with some boy from school, not the gym teacher from school. I don't think Carolina told Santiago that Lola's boyfriend was older. If Santiago knew this, he would've gone ballistic. And Lola was dumb for bringing the gym teacher by her house to have sex.

I think both Lola & Mia needed to be put back in a child's place by their mothers. Carolina didn't need to answer to LOLA whether or not she's pregnant and why she has a pregnancy test. And Cynthia didn't need to be grilled by Mia as to her comings and goings. We know both Carolina & Cynthia are shady but they are the adults; while neither Mia nor Lola are children, they're not on the same level as their aunt & mother. Both Mia & Lola are little girls trying to do grownup things and it will not end well for either of them.

I think TMZ actually has a concern for Lola's wellbeing. She may want the story but I don't think she wants Lola being beaten up by Juan either. Actually the story she needs to be pursuing is if a gym teacher is a predator down at the playground. I think the school would like to know and needs to know there's a creep in the classroom.

Finally Santiago "gets it" that Benjamin may not be his child. Carolina was a dirty dog for sleeping with Santiago all of a sudden after rejecting him, to make him believe that was his child.

After seeing Raquel naked Santiago is not going to be able to see her as "just a friend" anymore.

Jarifa, your wry recap spiced with savvy humor lightened and heightened this somber, sobering episode. Fantastic recap as always.

"she was a [no-good, rotten, stinking] druggie", "now junked Jeep" and "drunk as a skunk and in another funk" were among many favorites.

How do you pick the most disturbing events from turmoil at every turn? A burdensome task.

First: "Juan the Stalker calls Lola to yell at her for sicking the police on him. “—You should have died like your friend, Patricia!" Do we have the slightest doubt this will occur unless he is jailed or killed??

Second, "Dam and Caro text about his thinking he’d have liked being father to her baby—though he’s got Raq lying naked on his stomach" was certainly one. The boldness and arrogance of that move could not be understated. Catch me if you can in a whole 'nother dimension.

We all process and heal differently. Raq apparently needs to find, assess and suffer from every sordid detail she can find. Like Santi, I would not have gone back to the house, leaving it to rot and all the buried secrets with it. Raquel cannot purge the past by repeating the dead on unhallowed ground. I am relieved Santi was clearly hesitating. At least up to Vincente's ill timed arrival.

Mia suffers darkly but I suspect Lola's pain while not quite as obvious, is also deep.

I am not enamored with any of the characters but I am starting to feel a bit for Santi. I see utter confusion in his eyes as he tries to stay afloat and keep the drifting Raq beside him.

Nina, "lustshack of death" said it all!

I can't decide if Laura is a sinner, saint or somewhere in between. She now knows she has put Lola's life in jeopardy. What is she going to do about it?

Jardinera, spectacular. Thank you!

Diana

Gracias, Jadinera.

Raquel needs to get a hold of herself. This is neither the time nor the place and now that Vicente is trying to break in this is even worse.

Lola bringing Juan home for sex is begging for trouble. I don't think either of her parents know that he is a teacher and Santiago would go ballistic at this. That could get ugly enough to become fatal.

Damian sinks lower and lower; what else is new?

More later.

Thanks Jardinera!

It's sad to see Raquel in this state. I don't wanna say she's losing her mind but she's treading those waters. She doesn't have anyone else so in her mind who better to turn to than the widow of her husband's deceased lover. It's one thing that they kissed (after reading the transcripts of Dam and Caro's text messages) already but it's not healthy for either of them to take it further at the moment. Despite the betrayal Santiago is grieving over Caro's death. If Caro was the comatose one, I don't think he'd be in the hospital getting angry at her like Raq is doing with Damian. He's conflicted over her death and over his paternity. He might have feelings for Raquel already but he's torn.

Mia has no filter. While it was funny and true, it still wasn't right for her to talk to her aunt that way.

Damian and Caro are not cute with their lovey dovey love notes and stuff. I saw more chemistry between Raq and Santiago in the scene where he finished the renovation job at her home and their conversation.

Thanks, Jardinera.

There’s nothing there that really interests him; it’s too painful and he wants to just leave it be and move on with his life.

Yeah, Santi. Go with that sentiment and step away from that (understandably) distraught, agonizingly topless woman.

Raq is at the top of my list now as a the possible shooter of Caro. She's almost over the edge now. Plus, I've never like the way she's always hugging Santi and telling him her secrets. I'm beginning to think there's something murky underneath her veneer.

I totally agree. Raquel is loosing it,
And she really needs toget it together
Especially with mom in law from hell
Raging war against her. She needs to stop tryin to get revenge on dam and Caro And start dealin With her family stuff.
Her kids are fallin through the cracks
And jumpin santi bones, That will not help her situation and the pain will be there along with Damian's comatose
Body in that hospital bed,and the mom
In-Law From hell. When they're done.
Damian is a selfish sob, and Caro the way she is around raq, thumbing it in
Her face,"I got husband when I want him and Even when He's with you. She was a bold heffa. And then went and had sex With her husband so it would look like Benji is Santa's. What a bitch. Granny from hell wouldn't have
Any rights to benji would she? Seems
Like Raquel would more than her. And
Santi's name is on the birth certifica
Te.But someone might say she cant take
Care of a benji cause the hellian took
Everything from her. I think that is fixable.

"I'm beginning to think there's something murky underneath her veneer".

You phrased that perfectly Niecie.

I suspect everyone but Raq is inching a bit higher on my list. I have a tiny but growing suspicion that guilt, rather than anger, frustration or heartbreak is at the root of her unrest.

Diana

I don't believe Carolina's pregnancy test was negative. I believe it was positive and she took immediate steps to ensure there would be no question as to paternity, including lying to Damian so he wouldn't become obviously possessive of her. The conniving little you-know-what!!

Thanks Jardinera!!!

Juan looks waaaayyy older than Lola. If I was Caro I would have been throwing him out of the house the moment he came by.

Mia acts like she walked out of an occult movie. I'm waiting for the voodoo dolls to arrive. I can't pin her down. Definitely an enigma. I don't understand her attitude towards her mother. Not sure why Nico keeps liking her--unless it is her "mysterious" quality.

Andres seems like the most likely suspect which is why I don't think it was him.

Thanks Jardinera. I think I got the time period correct in your recap without the colored text for the past. Not completely sure. AM I correct in assuming that the 'catching' of Juan and Lola and the interruption of Nico and Mia (by Juan and Lola) were in the past?

As for Raquel's acting, well she has been slightly off (and over the top) from her first scene with Carolina when getting the idea for a catering service and later with her idea of having Santiago 'renovate' her kitchen. She was and is a very needy person.

The children have zero supervision.

Raquel is just trying to be loved and desired as Carolina was by Damian so she's turning to Santiago. I hope he turns her down. She's spinning out of control and it's ok: she just found out her husband, who is in the ICU in a coma, had a 3 year love affair with another woman under her nose, bought that woman a house, possibly impregnated that woman after denying her another baby and the reason he's in the coma in the first place is he got into an accident while running away with the mistress.

Plus her evil MIL just cut her off from all the money she needs to live. I'm surprised Miriam hasn't had movers show up to the house, change the locks and cart away all the stuff yet.

Give that Ol bitch time she'll do it. Or something worse.

Thank you Jardinera for the great recap.

I agree that Raquel is over the top. I think that is just her personality, Silvia is an amazing actress so she is definitely doing the over the top intentionally. I think it is so that viewerville doesn't automatically get on her side.
And I agree it is hard to like any of the characters. My favorite is Nico, he is very understated, he is the underdog and he knows more than he is letting on. He always suspected Lola was up to no good, he got the accidental call from Carol, so he may have already suspected his mother was cheating on his father.

I do also like Santi, but he does over do it when he is all Machista and does not want his family to look for work. I was like WTH we are in the 21st century dude. Please join us.

Santiago isn't going to do it out of respect for Raquel.

Thanks Jardinera. Raquel seems to handle Santi better than Carolina did. She managed to get him to acknowledge his machonism towards Carolina with a laugh. At the moment she is totally out of control.

Thanks again for your taking time to read and comment. ITA that Raq is losing it and sick to try having sex in the same bed as their mates' diddled their lovers. I felt Santi's pain. To me it was a cringe-worthy scene.

Jar--This was just what we needed. Straight and to the point. Thank you. Sorry this was so late, but I was out with a friend all day, helping her with errands, etc. You all have covered this episode well, so no additional comments. Only wanted to let you know I'm still here and appreciating the coverage.

Niecie: I also got Raquel on my list as the possible killer of Carolina.

Anita: Andres killing Carolina would not surprise me considering he's super addicted to power.
