Caer en Tentacion #22, 11/15/17: Guilty in the Eyes of Vicente and So What?

Part 1/3
Raquel is standing in front of Santi, nude from the waist up, demanding he look at her and asking if they didn’t have the right to do what “they” did to them, to feel what “they” felt. Santi is extremely uncomfortable. Fortunately for the moment, a noise interrupts. He and Raq can’t see it’s Vicente, having peeped enough to confirm his opinion of Raq and Santi. He backs up in his drunken haze and knocks over a potted plant. The noise stops and Raq approaches Santi and begins to unbuckle his belt. They begin to kiss unemotionally.

There’s a knock at the door. No, it’s not Vic, it’s Rosa, come to warn him that Vic is on the loose and possibly dangerous. Meanwhile, Raq has picked up her tops and locks herself in the bathroom.

Juan is at Lola’s door demanding to be let in. He’s in the post-aggressor mode of being sorry, apologizing and promising he’ll never get out of control again. He loves her, he needs her, and if she leaves him he swears he will kill himself. (Wish he would.) Lola puts up a weak defense saying he’s done this before, but lets him in, then falls for his crap, again. (If anyone is dangerous, it’s Juan.)

Vic goes to Lisa’s and raises a ruckus. She’s terrified, but hears him accuse Raq and Santi of messing around in the cabaña.

Mia and Nico finally get it on and are enjoying a brief afterglow. (Nico must be relieved after three years of frustration.) Nico has to get ready to go for his interview for a job in an attorney’s office. Mia’s insecurities return.

Santi can’t get Raquel out of the bathroom. She feels humiliated, not just by Damián, but also by Santi. She thinks she’s horrible and says he’s lying when he tells her she’s beautiful. If that’s true, she says, why did he reject her. Santi tells her he didn’t. He reminds her she rejected him the last time they were there, saying that she didn’t want to be like “them.”

Part 2/3
Nacho catches Santi at the Legato offices and tells him that while he and Agustín were working overnight, Andrés was supervising two big bruisers loading bags of flour in a truck and driving away. Andrés is robbing his own family business. (Do we really need any more intrigue in this tn?)

Mia, having had her nookie with Nico interrupted, flees from his house, promising to see him again soon. Lola comes in after she leaves and asks Nico what went on. Nico says, nothing, absolutely nothing. (He’s very disappointed.) Lola tells him about the blood in the bathroom.

Raquel is thrilled with her new kitchen AND with Santi. He’s a little embarrassed by her effusiveness. He finally tells her what Nacho saw at the offices.

Meanwhile, in Dam & Caro’s “nidito de amor,” they are enjoying their betrayal time together. They agree that everything is perfect. They even decide to write down the rules for living in their perfect place. (A lot of good it did them, HA.) One is that they can’t talk about anybody else or anything else but them. Another is that Dam wants them to come at least once a month.

Raquel is still in the bathroom. Santi is outside the door, pleading for her to open up for him. He finally yells that he admits it, he’s been the idiot all along, believing in Caro’s lies. Raq immediately asks him to forgive her for what she said to him earlier. She’s the idiot, she believed in Dam. She opens the door. He asks her what she wants to do. She's seeking comfort. He embraces her and holds her.

Cin tries to make nice with Mia, but Mia has a burr up her butt. Mia accuses her of spying on her and Nico (which we know she did). Eventually Mia opens up to Cin about love and sex. She wants to be with Nico, but suppose that for him it was only about sex. Her insecurities are showing.

Lola and Juan are, well, back to square one, each in their endless loops. He sweet talks her into sex. He tells her she can stop working. He’ll support her since he wants them to live together. She’s unsure of that arrangement. She uses her father’s potential arrival as an excuse to try to get him to leave.

Nando is working overtime. He shows up at Lisa’s door after dark and gets an earful from her about Vic’s drunken ramblings that Raq and Santi were at Dam and Caro’s cabaña getting busy.

Nico gets interviewed by a young and very attractive attorney. She knows who he is and asks him about how he feels regarding his mother. Nico says he only wants to find out the truth about his mother’s death. He gets the job and as he leaves, she sits there, pensive, holding his personnel file.

Santi brings coffee for Raq and for himself. They sit facing each other, speculating on Dam and Caro’s lives in the cabaña. It’s obvious to both that Dam and Caro had plenty of time to do a lot of things in it. Raq says she doesn’t know how she’s going to be able to move ahead without money. Santi promises to take care of her, at least until she decides what to do. In the meantime, they’ll get a lawyer to handle her financial problems with the business. (Red flag, red flag—who did we just see is a lawyer?) He takes the coffee cups and sets them down to take Raq’s hands in his. He tells her everything is going to be alright. Santi moves closer to her and they begin to kiss, this time, apprehensively, gently, with feelings. She pulls away and softly wonders what they are doing. Santi replies, just as softly, he doesn’t know. The mood is finally broken when Santi asks if she’d like to go for a walk, far away. They don’t belong in this place. Raq decides she’s hungry and he agrees to go somewhere to eat.

Nando confronts Vic at his shack. (He’s so drunk I couldn’t understand everything he said, but this is the gist of it.) Vic assures the detective that he did indeed see Raq and Santi doing things in the cabaña. It should be obvious to anyone that he/they killed Caro/Dam for vengeance and to get them out of their way.

Part 3/3
Raq and Santi are outside ready to leave, but she needs a few moments to breathe. She’s plainly hurt and angry, yet confused by her feelings for Santiago and where they might be taking her. Santi approaches her from behind and puts his arms around her drawing her to him. She puts her arms on his to hold him tighter to her. He nestles into her shoulder and says, “I like being with you. You are very good for me. I don’t want to stop this.” She turns around to him and they find each other’s lips to kiss, numbing their pain with a calming and tender moment.

Santi says he doesn’t want to lose this. He then adds that she’s a wonderful woman and so worthwhile. He wishes she wouldn’t see herself through the eyes of what others did to her, nor see herself as she thinks Dam saw her. If she could only see herself as he himself sees her, she would think differently. Raq smiles at him but says she doesn’t know how to do it, because right now the only thing in her head is that Caro got pregnant during that second two-family vacation they took together.

The two-family gang arrives at a spacious vacation cabin. Raq sets to sorting everyone out, insisting on leaving Caro and Santi in their sound-proof bedroom to do whatever, wink, wink. Santi gets in the mood, but Caro pushes him away. She avoids intimacy in order to unpack, telling him nothing is wrong.

Raq and Lola go off to the store for forgotten items. Nico and Mia have a few minutes to themselves until Fede interrupts. The boys go off and Mia goes back to the house. Santi fires up the grill and gets Mia to help. That leaves a randy Dam and a cautious Caro in the house alone. He can’t wait to get his hands on  (and other things in) her. Caro is clearly uncomfortable with the situation. Dam tells her he needs her and was jealous thinking she and Santi were getting it on. Caro tells him she can’t be with either one of them right now. He corners her and talks about their passion, their forbidden love. She doesn’t want to “do it” there, but he drags her upstairs, not entirely unwillingly on her part, although she puts on a pretty good show of it. They go into an unfurnished room and start panting and pawing each other. Folks start gathering again at the front of the house. Lola goes inside and hears something going on upstairs. She begins to climb the stairs calling out for her mother.

Holding hands, Raq and Santi head for the car to go for that meal. Nando shows up and tells them Vic has made a statement charging them with having killed Damián and Carolina. Caras de impactadas de Raquel y Santiago!

(Dang, we have to wait until tomorrow night to find out if Lola finds them and WHY Nando would believe the words of a drunken, angry, dangerous old coot.)

We're a little behind. Bear with us. Lot's to discuss, so have at it, Patio.

I almost fell off of my chair laughing at your title. Well done! Brilliant! Still laughing....

Damian gets off on the risk of being caught. There's no other explanation for having sex with Carolina in the house while her husband, his wife and all of their children are right outside.

Yes, excellent title Anita!

You covered the few scenes I saw and did so beautifully.

"They begin to kiss unemotionally" and "if she leaves him he swears he will kill himself. (Wish he would) mirrored my sentiments exactly.

Raquel is indeed at the very least momentarily crazed. Although she might have been oblivious at the very beginning of Damian and Caro's flirtation, flashbacks seemed to indicate she did have her suspicions. I'm uneasy enough to think that while she is indeed reflecting her inner turmoil, I'm not quite convinced there isn't guilt in the mix. At times, she is laser focused. At others, she is shrill and desperate.

Lola seems to have a good head on her shoulders most of the time, but her continuing to stay with Juan is puzzling, although I gather not uncommon in this situation. I think Laura is her only possible protector. Sadly, Santi still doesn't see how much trouble Lola is in....

Anita, thank you very much!

Diana

Thanks Anita!!!

I'm starting to think Juan killed Dam and Carol. This is my scenario: Juan beat up Lola in the past. Carol discovered it and instead of telling Santiago, she tells Dam. Dam threatens Juan. Juan keeps his distance but his obsession with Lola won't go away. He decides to murder Carol and Dam so that he can get Lola back. We saw him at the funeral, keeping his distance.

Thank you Anita. I have been unable to watch the episodes lately so I depend on the recaps. Yours are always stellar.

Raquel is on a downward spiral, I don't know how Santi can stay so poised. They have been betrayed by the two people who should have been there for them. On top of the betrayal Raquel has to deal with the devil herself, and now has no access to money to provide the most basic necessities for her children, forgive me but I do believe a downward spiral is an appropriate place for Raquel to be in at this very moment.

Carvivlie: Juan the murderer? It seems a bit far fetched, but not impossible, Juan is crazy after all.

Anon: 207 I agree with you about Dam, he is in this for the sheer thrill of it. There is no love there, he may be saying he loves Carol, but it is the thrill of the forbidden that keeps him hooked.

Gracias, Anita.

Juan is cray enough to be the killer, but I think we're going to have a carousel of suspects before this is over. Juan, Andres, Vicente... any of the three could be the one.

Damian does seem to get off on the risk of getting caught; this is rather juvenile in my book. Carolina is exactly the opposite of that because this stresses her out. That wouldn't have lasted much longer. When they were in the cabana and doing the "rules" of their relationship I was cringing.

While Raquel and Santiago sound like likely suspects to a cop I'm hoping that Fernando is smart enough to realize that Vicente's accusation is coming from his desire to gain from it whether he is the killer or not.

All done. Enjoy. I just love getting the "real" love scenes. My fondest hope is that what we are seeing of Raquel and Santi are the real thing.

Thanks Anita!

I guess I'll watch the Latin Grammys tonight. Gonna miss the novela. It's crazy but so very good.

Santiago was right in telling Raquel that they'd regret getting intimate. Although I enjoyed those kisses lol I've never believed one or both of them is involved in the accident. Vicente is just looking to benefit from accusing them.

Damian is a serial cheater and a borderline sex addict. I agree that he doesn't love Caro. Although she might actually really love him at this point. The fact that they never got caught is baffling. So I'm wondering how they're gonna get out of this current predicament.

Thank you Anita.More breaking news.But
First, is Lola Carolina's daughter and
Mia is raquel's? Sometimes can't seem to keep it straight they keep going back and forth. Well either way these
Kids are as screwed up as their moms &
Dad's.And I don't know why.Was mia al-
Ways this troubled? And lola and the
Pervert gym teacher, is this her first
Teacher affair.See these parents have
No idea what the hell is goin on with
Their kids. Or themselves.
I like Raquel and santi together. Hope
There's no insanity with Raquel.Would
Be great if they wind up with each other.
In one of the advances they showed
Earlier this week Damian was alive and
On the c-phone callin for help after the crash. Caro Was unconscious, and then someone was Dragging her out of the Car through the woods.Could anyone
Tell if it was man Or woman dragging
Her? Whoever it was they really hated
Carolina. Suppose she was still alive
And they buried her alive? That sounds
Like something a woman would do,yeah?
Like a scorned woman? If thats the case
I really hope it's not Raquel. Cause I
Want to see her with santi. That wouldbe The ultimate revenge. They'd wind up happy,The kids are finaly straightened out,and they Get to raise benji. Oooo what a mess.

Well apparently they got caught cuz somebody drug her out of that car and buriedy her knocked up but in the shallow grave somebody saw them.No you don't get to do all that running around slipping and dipping and doin and don't get caught, somebody is going to see you.
And they got saw.

Nina, Carolina died of gunshot wounds; that was established in the first week. The perp may or may not have knocked Damian unconscious before being seen by him. If Damian dies then there likely is no eyewitness.

Thus far nobody has tried to kill him.

If this isn't based on another series then the writers might still be thinking about where this goes.

So there was a sniper while they were driving to they lustshack?!?!Maybe we'll get some solid answers before
Fore the turkey gets done. Next week. Or one answer, who dunit! MMmm to soon.

Anita, just read the rest of your wonderful recap. Thank you.

"each in their endless loops" and "numbing their pain with a calming and tender moment" were several sterling sayings.

I missed most of this. I am undecided as to whether or not Santi and Raq could ever be together forever. I'm not convinced that their obvious compatibility and attraction would ever be enough to overcome the past. United in sorrow, they have bonded in a way that can never be broken. At the very least, I hope they wait until time has partially healed their wounds and that (hopefully) the murderer(s) have been caught. (I'm still keeping my eye on Raq. I think she knew far more than she let on but we will have to wait to see if this is the case).

Loved "carousel of suspects" UA!

Looking forward to tonight.

Happy Friday all!

Diana

Thank you, Anita.

The way I interpreted Lola's behavior was fear. It wasn't that she believed Juan, it was rather she feared that if she rejected him he will explode and hit her. His tone, his expression felt like saying no was not an option. She was trying to avoid being beaten or killed by placating him by submitting to his demands, including sex.

Thanks Anita, I'm trying to listen without captions and I miss a lot! I understand enough about the crazies - especially the kids - what a bunch of mixed up offspring! To my simple mind the obvious would be - three years ago - how about a divorce although as others pointed out Damian seems to be in it for the thrill. In present times, Raquel - get a job and through this earn some money and find something else to think about except your betrayal.

Lynette: Raquel has no job ? ROFLOL!!!!

Steve, maybe I'm wrong. I don't know if she is still running the business she started with Carolina. Obviously the latter is no available as a partner. I simply find the over-reaction over the top. Maybe if her whole life has been devoted to her husband and her children, it is more understandable. Its also unhealthy (in my opinion) to start another relationship on a rebound. But this is a telenovela.

Lucio--On reflection, I think your interpretation is correct. Let's see how she rids herself of him. I don't think there's much Laura can do to protect her. She kind of left Lola standing outside her house making her promise to report Juan. Her nod was not very convincing to me. If Laura was really trying to protect her, she should have offered to go with her. (Remember in Amor Bravio, Camila wouldn't let Luzma go through her denunciation by herself.)

Lynette--I think that once the emotional part of this betrayal is over and with Santi's support, Raq would have been ready to retake the reins of the catering business and fight for her share of her husband's investments in Legato. OTOH, knowing her partner was Carolina might make it impossible to go back to the catering business, regardless of how successful it was.

I didn't get the impression that Raquel is interested in STARTING a relationship with Santi. She's known him and his family for at least three years.

Diana--I agree with you that they are both hurting AND angry and have turned to each other for solace and comfort. The kissing that took place in the last part of the episode was, in my mind, a reaffirmation that they are there for each other. If they try to take the next step, they may find they can't shake the images of their cheating partners and stop, or they may find it's the only way they can feel whole again.

It was clear to me that Raq, like Mia, has been suffering from feelings of inadequacy and insecurity. She blames herself for Dam's straying--she wasn't enough of a good wife, which Santi was trying to dispel. Since she is going to have to face Miriam and Andres, she needs someone like Santi to reassure her.

However, Vic's charges will throw a monkey wrench into everything and if arrested, neither will have the support of the other. And what of the kids? Are they left to fend for themselves? Will Benji be taken by Social Services? Overthinking again, sorry.

I'm disappointed in Nando for listening to Vic. He should have been smart enough to wait until Vic was sober, then taken a statement.

Nina--Carolina's children are Lola (fighting off Juan) and Nico (who often wears a knit hat) and little Benji; Raquel's children are the twins Mia (who cuts herself but likes Nico) and Fede (who keeps warning Nico not to pin his heart on Mia).

You're right lynette, in tns/soap any things possible. But it is to soon for these Two to be coupling up.The wound is very raw, it wouldn't work.

I think it will be somebody we least,
Really least expect. At the start the
Ones exchanging money for a job well
Done is to abvious. That could havebeen something completely different. You
Know how they like giving us puzzles
And then shock us.
I wonder if dam did see anything. He
Seemed very alert when calling for help, so the person that took Caro had
To knock him out. Or he passed out from his wounds. So many ?s and not to
Many answers. And whoever she saw in that black car kind of upset her. Who was that? Ive missed some episodes but I been reading the recaps. Sometimes theyre better than the episodes.
Yes Recappers y'all are just that good.

If the pasta business was in shambles but Raquel helped build it back up with Damian, she may be entitled to a share of that business. Unfortunately Raquel has no abogado to advocate for her at this time.

Raquel's job has been the foundation and with Carolina & the catering business; obviously with her cook dead the catering business can't function.

Raquel's overreaction is realistic. Raquel just discovered the last 3 years of her life (at LEAST) has been a lie. She's discovered her husband considered her and their children to be "obstacles" to be overcome so he could freely love Carolina. He was telling Carolina sweet nothings that he wasn't telling her. He was having obligation sex with her, but she thought he still wanted her and now she realizes it was just obligation sex. He bought his mistress a house (or he and his mistress bought a house together) and left her unprotected from his mother. When she wanted another child, he was like NAH but may have fathered a child with Carolina. Every day, there's a new revelation about Damian. And she can't confront him because he's in a coma. She's in a holding pattern and she's going to have wild mood swings from day to day for the foreseeable future.

I don't think she wants to start a new relationship, she wants the love she thought she had with Damian and Santiago is a safe person to get that love from.

Thank you Anita for your recap.

I have watched this show form the beginning (but that does not mean I have understood every time switch). I am curious about Damian's condition. Right after the accident Miriam, Raquel etc., visited Damian with scrubs and a mask. I guess he was in intensive care. Now in the 'latest' scene Raquel is not in scrubs or a mask and the setting seems to be different. Does this indicate that Damian is in less critical condition than when they first brought him in?
Nando is incompetent if he really thinks drunken Vic has an insight into the murder of Carolina. Perhaps he just mentioned it to Raquel and Santiago to see their reaction. If he places them under arrest, his boss with have to reverse the charge. And Nando's wife will run with another non-story.

Raquel was under the (possibly) mistaken impression all those years that Damian loved and appreciated her. She had reason to feel that way and she needed that desperately in the face of Miriam's irrational and perverse hatred. Now that she knows that Damian was cheating on her for three years and saw all the lovey-doveyness between him and Carolina she has to be wondering whether her marriage was all a lie.

We still don't know definitively whether Damian had cheated on her before, but I'm inclined to think not. Since Miriam is at the office all day with him she would have caught on before as she has now and taunted Raquel with it in the past in the hope that it would rid her of her.

As to Damian's ladies' man moves, it could just be that he always had good game and that one never forgets the moves. This could be a mid-life crisis situation. However, if he wakes up and doesn't have amnesia (another monkey wrench the writers can throw into this) I don't know that anyone will believe him, including the viewers.

Raquel is perfectly capable of working and yes, I think she should. Not just because she needs money, but because she needs the confidence it will give her.

Laura,the Barbara waters wannabe.
