Mi Marido Tiene Familia #79, 12/14/2017: An Offer That Can’t Be Refused OR Second Chances Don’t Come Easy

[Previously: In their kitchen, Robert reminds Juls of his concern about creating a bond with Dave. Now, he is even more concerned that Dave is calling her “mamá.” As Julieta agrees, the doorbell rings so Robert goes to answer.] Catalina walks right in leaving Robert talking to himself and makes a beeline to Julieta. Catalina has a plan of attack for the relationship between Bruno and her bothersome sister-in-law. Catalina mentions that they are not good for each other. Julieta comments that for the first time in their lives, they agree on something. As Catalina grabs Julieta’s plate of food, she thinks Linda is not going to be good for Bruno; they should forbid Bruno from seeing Linda. Julieta has already talked to him, but feels she is going overboard by forbidding Bruno from seeing anyone. She feels like she is becoming like Catalina…what a horror! Catalina wants to talk to Linda and asks if Linda is at her home, but Juls is not sure; though she does offer Catalina Linda’s cell phone number. Catalina thanks Julieta as she continues to eat from Julieta’s plate.

At the Mussi mansion, the Hermonsters are upset as they show pictures of where Gabriel is living and working, but Augusto doesn’t want to see them. He didn’t educate his son to live like that; he didn’t pay his universities and his specializations for those things. This doesn’t make sense! Gabriel can’t leave his family for an…unknown! Augusto doesn’t want his son to distance himself again.

In the carpentry shop, Gabriel explains that he needs time to resolve things—things that pertain to his life, personal things. When Dani reminds him that she is in his life and doesn’t want him having more problems because of her. Gabriel assures her that there isn’t a problem; he just needs that week. After the week, the Gabriel she knows will return—just as attractive, creative, and intelligent as always. After this week, he can tell her how much he can invest. They can use the money for machinery, flyers, etc. When he asks if she has thought of a name for her shop, Dani hasn’t. When he suggests some names, Dani thinks they sound like a sexist pun and would rather take her time in thinking of a name. What she wants him to understand is that she will not allow his family to hurt him because of her. She doesn’t want him to stop being who he is for her.

Arriving at her home, Catalina calls Linda to invite her over to her house so they can get to know each other better. Linda is super happy to do so. After Linda calls her “Doña,” Catalina prefers not to be addressed like that, much less mama-suegra; Linda can call her “Mrs.”

In the Córsega kitchen as Robert serves Imelda and Eugenio, Imelda appreciates that Robert worries about them. She thinks he is the only one that inherited his mother’s cooking abilities. Imelda has been mulling things over and thinks Blanca is right; she thinks Eugenio needs to make her fall in love with him again…this house just isn’t the same without Blanca. Imelda will also go ask Blanca to forgive her, but the main problem is with Eugenio; his marriage needs to be saved. Robert agrees.

At Belén’s, Blanca tells Amalia that falling in love is easy, but then come the love knocks. When Belén points out Enzo has many admirers, Amalia emphasizes he noticed her. The moment has come for her to live her life. Amalia then suggests they all go to the beach to celebrate. Blanca mentions that it has been years since she has gone to the beach; so they all gladly agree to go.

After Linda arrives at Catalina’s house with a plate of cookies, Catalina tells her she is very worried because of her relationship with Bruno. Bruno is the jewel of the crown; and it doesn’t benefit him to be with her…he is wasting his time with her. Linda frowns and asks Catalina if she likes cookies. Catalina does like them, but the good kind. Linda is not going to sway her with shortening and sugar. Catalina insists that Linda is not right for her son; she is lacking many things, including material on her clothes. When Catalina tells Linda not to count on her and that she is very important to Bruno; Linda now knows where Julieta inherited everything…they don’t care what she feels. Catalina does care…that is why she is trying to avoid her suffering. When Catalina tells Linda that she and Bruno are destined to an abyss, Linda tells her the same thing she told Julieta—she will not rest until she wins them over because what she feels for Bruno is more than what Catalina can imagine.

At Night—

At Ana’s house, Tulio wonders why Audifaz is still there…he should already be home. Audi responds that he is there because Tulio is his brother; and family should remain united. After Tulio tells him he has always been the noblest one, Audifaz reminds him of when they were small. When Eugenio and Tulio would fight, Tulio would run to his bedroom to cry. As his voice cracks with emotion, Tulio remembers that his mother would say that men don’t cry and would scold him even more. Audifaz remembers how his father would cut his hair and leave him without supper. Tulio continues that his father would do that so he could have a good reason to cry, but Audifaz was always there. Tulio cries as he remembers how Audifaz would bring him something to eat and sit outside his room so he wouldn’t be alone…and he would cry with Audifaz accompanying him.

Polita goes to visit her mother. When her mother coldly asks her why she went to see her, Polita shows her belly and tells her mother she wanted her to know that she is having another baby. She was hoping her mother would let her talk to her and get to know her two grandsons. Polita can forgive everything that happened…all that her mother did. Her mother smirks and tells Polita that since she gave her life and raised her for sufficient years, Polita is the one that should be asking for forgiveness. When Polita wonders how her mother can say such a thing, her mother hisses that their relationship no longer exists. After she tells Polita to continue on with her life and let her live her own life in peace, she slams the door shut on Polita. Polita cries and starts to leave, but then turns back and bangs on the door yelling, “Mamá, it’s not possible that you do this to me! Don’t you know how much I need you? …I miss you all the time! Why don’t you love me? Why have you never loved me, Mother?”

At Ana’s house, Audifaz asks Tulio if he mentioned adoption to Ana. Tulio nods and replies he has hopes. When Audifaz suggests they go to the orphanage to meet Dave, Tulio confides that Ana asked him for a divorce…and Dave might be the only solution.

As they walk along, Linda complains to Bruno that his mother treated her badly. Bruno admits that his mother has some bad mannerisms sometimes. When Linda wonders if Catalina and Julieta are alike, Bruno tells her they are completely different…they often fight. Bruno prefers they talk about something other than his family…he guides her to an alley and they start kissing. Meanwhile, Robert and Julieta are walking along on the same sidewalk as Robert tells Julieta that his parents lost each other as a couple. That’s why he wants to share more moments like this with her—share, go out…everything they used to do when they were “novios”—and that includes telling each other everything. Julieta then tells him that she was serious when she told him she wanted to have a baby. She wants to do everything possible. All she asks is from him is patience and to let her do things in her own time. When he asks why she wants to do this alone, she replies that she doesn’t want him to worry about more problems; and she doesn’t want to feel pressured. Robert thinks she should understand; he will worry and wonder. This is something that should be shared as a couple. When he tells her he wants to go with her to the doctor, Julieta assures him that she will tell him everything, but it needs to be her process because of everything that has already happened to them. Robert agrees; he supports her in everything. As they hug, Julieta sees Bruno and Linda necking. She pulls Robert over with her and chides Bruno for wasting his one opportunity to study on kissing in an alley. Bruno grabs Linda and they run away.

In front of the Córsega building, Gabriel sees two young men admiring his car and asks them if they like it. As he tells them it’s the only material thing he has left, a black suburban pulls up. Some men get out and grab Gabriel pulling him into the suburban as Gabriel shouts for help. As the suburban pulls away, Dani comes out of her workshop and yells, but the suburban speeds off. She grabs a skateboard from one of the men and dashes off trying to catch up to the van. As she gets closer, she tries to grab on to the suburban, but doesn’t reach and falls hurting her knee as she yells out to Gabriel.

When Dani goes back, the man asks if she was able to catch up. As she replies that it was impossible, Xavi, Marisol, and Frida approach, so Dani cries that they took Gabriel; she thinks they kidnapped him. When Xavi asks if she is sure they took him by force, Dani affirms and tells him that the two men there saw it too. One of the men confirms what happened, but when Dani wants to call the police, the two men leave because they don’t know what he (Gabriel) might be involved in. When Dani cries and wonders why they don’t want to help, Xavi offers to go with her so she can file a report.

After running awhile, Bruno and Linda finally stop. Linda thinks it’s absurd that at their age, they have to be running like idiots. Bruno thinks that if Julieta catches them she is apt to kill them; she is a serial killer. Frustrated, Linda tells him that the only reason she is putting up with this is because of him. There is no reason why she should be putting up with his sister’s drama and his mother’s scoldings. Bruno thinks that sooner or later they will leave them in peace and stop bothering them, but Linda wonders if karma actually exists and everything is turning on her because of how she treated Julieta.

In the suburban, Gabriel chides the men for doing everything that his father orders…they just put on their black suits; they think they are all ‘that’ and don’t even talk to Gabrielito! Gabriel goes for the door, but the two men hold him. Gabriel tells them that he even gets one small bruise, he swears he will return it.

Outside still on the sidewalk, Robert tells Julieta that she and Linda can’t be fighting for the rest of their lives. Julieta thinks that though she is part of his family, there are things that are not going to change. Robert suggests that instead of trying to control Linda’s and everyone else’s lives, they should concentrate on their own lives. When Robert asks if Bruno and Linda don’t deserve to be happy, Julieta thinks they need to get their lives in order first. After Robert promises to have a man-to-man talk with Bruno, he gets frisky and would rather take advantage of the fact that they are alone in the alley…so they do the sexy magnet thing…kissy, kissy…

At the police station, Dani frantically recounts what happened; she didn’t see the men's faces…everything happened too fast. Dani pleads with the officer to do something; they need to find her boyfriend. Meanwhile, the four men in black carry Gabriel into his home. As they plop him down on the couch, his father and the hermonsters come in; so Gabriel chides his father for treating him like a criminal. They could have just called him rather than send the gorillas after him. When Augusto tells him that if he had called him, Gabriel wouldn’t have come, Gabriel admits he wouldn’t have because he was with Daniela. Gabriel than asks his father to imagine how worried Dani is, but Augusto yells that all of this has been caused by Dani. Gabriel yells that Dani is not at fault; it is them…with their pathetic obsession. Gabriel demands that they let him make his own life. Augusto insists that they are worried about him because he is not going down the right path; someday Gabriel will be grateful for what he is doing for him. As the hermonsters coddle him, Gabriel brushes them off and tells them he is walking down the path he wants to walk through. Gabriel wonders what their plan is and if they want the same thing to happen as did several years ago. When Gabriel threatens that he can go away, Augusto calmly tells him that is precisely why they, as a family, want to offer him options. Augusto thinks Gabriel can’t continue without their support. When Augusto chides him for living in a 2-bit motel, Gabriel wonders if he is being spied on. Gabriel gets upset and yells that they should leave him alone! When the hermonsters try to calm him down, Gabriel gets even more upset and refuses to calm down. He doesn’t understand! He doesn’t know what they want…maybe to just bother him! Augusto then tells Gabriel that if he wants to be left alone, he is going to give him an offer he can’t refuse. Augusto suggests that he meet another woman… just one date…with someone they will choose. Meanwhile, Dani calls Danilo and tells him Gabriel has been kidnapped. Back with Gabriel, he wonders if they also want to put him in a straightjacket and take him to an insane asylum…they can also arrange his wedding while they’re at it. Augusto insists that the only thing he wants is for Gabriel to give himself one opportunity to see what he is missing. If Gabriel accepts to go out with one woman…another woman, to just one dinner, they will leave him in peace forever. Gabriel just shakes his head.

At Belén’s house, Blanca writes in her notepad that she wants to stop meddling in other people’s lives and focus on her own life. She would have liked to study for a career. Just then Belén walks in and wonders why Blanca is smiling. Blanca confides that she just remember something she wanted to do many years ago...study. Belén is surprised; she thinks Blanca can definitely do it, but wonders if she could do it so late in life. After Belén asks what she would like to study, Blanca replies, “…a chef,” but Belén suggests something related, such as administration since Blanca already cooks so well. Blanca is excited at the thought of running her own restaurant. When Belén thinks it would take much time, Blanca agrees, but would love to have a certification or diploma with her name on it; so she writes her wish in her notepad.

At the Mussi mansion, Gabriel wonders what good it would do them if he goes out with someone he doesn’t know. The hermonsters insist it won’t cost him a thing; the benefit is enormous—they will stop bothering him. Gabriel thinks that liberating himself of their obsession would be the best gift of his life. He wonders if they really think he will fall in love with another woman in one night. Augusto just wants him to compare what he will have with Daniela…and what he could have with someone else. Gabriel then wonders if they want to give him some type of sedative that will make him pass out, take pictures of him with the lady and send them to Dani. Augusto assures him there are no tricks or schemes. There is nothing that Gabriel suspects…it’s just one dinner. Gabriel agrees, but he wants to choose the restaurant. Augusto is fine with Gabriel selecting the restaurant, but they will select with whom he will go…and Gabriel has to be nice, a gentleman. When Augusto promises that they will leave him in peace if he does this, Gabriel accepts to do it, but just to show them that he is 100% sure of the love he has for Daniela...and so that they will leave them alone. When Augusto reminds him they have an agreement, Gabriel warns Augusto that it had better be the last time his thugs bring him in. Next time Gabriel will report him; and he will have every right to do so. When Gabriel leaves, the hermonsters shout with joy that they got their way. Meanwhile, Dani searches for Clarissa’s phone number since they have a right to know what’s happening. When Clarissa answers and Dani tells her Gabriel was kidnapped, Clarissa mocks her and tells her Gabriel just left there…Dani should stay on top of things and stop saying stupid things. Dani then gets a call from Gabriel who tells her not to worry. His father had him picked up because he wanted to talk to him. When she asks if they did anything to him, Gabriel tells her he is fine…it’s just one of his father’s foolish tactics. He lies that they just wanted to know if he would be able to survive.

At Polita’s, Aris wonders if Polita is feeling ill. When he insists, Polita starts crying. When she remains quiet, Aris hugs her and tells her that though he doesn’t know what is wrong with her, he loves her. Polita thanks him and tells him she is feeling the effects of hormonal changes caused by the pregnancy. She doesn’t want him or his father to worry. As she starts to cry again, she hugs him and tells him she loves him.

At Ana’s, Tulio tells Audi that he wants to go visit the orphanage where Dave is. He has just convinced Ana to go with him…he doesn’t want to lose her. When Audi tells Tulio that he hopes his life improves, Tulio thanks him for never leaving him alone. Audi hopes all goes well with David who could have a very good life with them. In her bedroom, Ana takes a pill. When Tulio comes in to ask how she is, she hides the pill bottle under the covers and tells Tulio she is calmer. When he tells her to rest so that she can have more energy when they go meet David, Ana wonders if adoption will work out, but Tulio insists that they will make it work. He kisses her good-night, but Ana cringes. After he leaves, she takes out the pill bottle and pours out more pills.

In their bedroom, Julieta sits in bed thinking about holding Aldo’s baby as Robert sleeps. After she gets up for a drink of water and thinks about her visit with the specialist, Bruno slips into the apartment quietly and goes to Julieta. When he tells her he was with Linda, Julieta complains. Bruno asks Julieta not to stress about it; he and Linda want to be together. When he questions if she is going to become his mother’s ally to go after Linda, Julieta insists that Linda is not good for him. Bruno argues that is his decision, but Julieta wonders why it had to be Linda. Bruno points out that one doesn’t choose who we love. He calls Julieta an ogre, but also tells her he told Linda that she (Julieta) was like a father and mother to him. When Julieta asks if he loves her, Bruno confirms he loves her very much; he knows she has always wanted to take care of them, but sometimes she gets a little too crazy. When Julieta replies that she does want to take care of them, Bruno thinks it’s time she trusts him and let him do things his way…although it is very difficult giving classes to Aris. When he mentions the Pablo Neruda mix up, Julieta laughs. Bruno assures her he will continue with the classes so she can know that he does want to improve. He offers that if she wants to talk about whatever was bothering her when he entered, she can send him a “whats” (WhatsApp) though he isn’t very good with words. As he turns to leave, Julieta follows and gives him a big hug, but tells him this doesn’t mean she has accepted Linda.

At Polita’s, Polita cries as she tells Audi that she thought her mother had changed at least a little, but she hasn’t. Her mother continues to reject her as if she had done something horrible. Audi assures her that she is loved there. She is pure light for them. He thinks her mother will repent someday.

In their beds, Dani confides to her sisters that she isn’t sure it is right that Gabriel doesn’t want to tell her what is going on with him. Mari thinks Dani shouldn’t pressure Gabriel; there is a reason why Gabriel wants to resolve things on his own. Dani is sure something is wrong; she knows Gabriel is not cheating on her…it’s something else. Meanwhile, at the roach motel standing on the bed while he looks for bugs, Gabriel calls his friend, Sam, to ask if he still wants to share an apartment. When Sam obviously confirms and tells Gabriel to take care of his pet, Maritza, Gabriel is very thankful that Sam will allow him to be his roomie as of that day. Back to the girls’ bedroom, Dani is sure she loves Gabriel. When they were taking him away, she felt as if her life was being ripped apart; he has become so important to her. As she says that Gabriel is part of her existence, Mari smiles. Dani continues that nothing makes sense without Gabriel. Mari then gets up and shares that she wants to give herself a chance with Xavi. The girls are ecstatic. Linda excitedly comments how wonderful it is that the three of them are in love. When Linda wonders when Dani will tell their father, Dani isn’t sure; she doesn’t want her father having more to worry about. Frida then interrupts and tells them to let her sleep; she has to go to school.

In his bedroom, Eugenio caresses Blanca’s pillow as he recalls Imelda’s words, “My suggestion is that you win her back. There is still life; you can make her fall in love.” Meanwhile, in her own bed, Blanca caresses the pillow next to her.

Gabriel arrives at Sam’s very colorful place. He enjoys the nice smell and calls out for Maritza. Later, Gabriel lays in bed counting Mussi sheep. When he thinks of Dani, he smiles and tells her she is making him lose sleep.

Julieta returns to her bedroom to find Robert sitting up and waiting for her. When he asks if she is sure she doesn’t want him going for the results with her, Julieta assures him she wants to go alone; she wants to make sure it’s what she wants. When she promises to tell him if she needs him at her side, Julieta informs Robert that she wants to go see Dave, but assures Robert that everything will be fine.

The Next Day—

Gabriel is fast asleep as a mouse creeps around him. When he awakes, Gabriel sees a giant mouse and starts squirming and squealing.

At Belén’s house, Belén and Blanca join Amalia at the table as she reads “The Perfect Girlfriend.” Just then, there is a knock on the door, so Blanca goes and opens the door to find Eugenio standing there. Once inside, Belén and Amalia leave to give them some privacy. After they leave, Blanca refuses to look at Eugenio as he asks if she isn’t going to say anything. He thinks things don’t make sense; they have been married for forty years. Blanca asks how many of those years have been truly happy ones…she didn’t leave just to be stubborn. Eugenio explains he is there to try to resolve things. He knows she has many reasons to be angry and sad. He is asking her to return with him and their children. Blanca doesn’t want him bringing their children into this. She tells him that there are many things wrong between them; they had many years of silence, reproaches, and resentments. It wasn’t until Juan Pablo returned that Eugenio gave her a hug and told her he loved her…after decades. As Blanca walks away, Eugenio pleads, “I am suffering too. I know I haven’t been the best husband…I accept it, but life changed us when we lost Juan Pablo.”

Blanca turns around and notes how he used “we” now and continues, “All my life, you and your mother blamed me. Your look said it all, Eugenio; you saw me with resentment, with contempt.” Eugenio denies that he could condemn her, but Blanca continues that he did it for years; and he knows she isn’t exaggerating. “You only talked to me to tell me I was making the bread the wrong way. You weren’t with me in any of our daughters’ deliveries. Don’t you remember?” Eugenio nods as Blanca cries, “I am not perfect. I also made many mistakes, but I never lost hope that our son would appear…and that you would love me again.” As Blanca walks and turns away, Eugenio insists, “I tried to get close to you and take care of you,” but Blanca responds, “But you didn’t do it. Even when I would get sick, you were incapable of at least putting your hand on my forehead to see if I had a fever…and I accepted it because I wanted to pay for all the guilt I carried. But now I know I was not to blame; and I don’t want to suffer anymore.”

At the hospital, Robert confides in Tavo that he doesn’t want Julieta to suffer with the thought of having a baby, but Tavo points out that everyone has to follow their own course; and everyone has a right to their privacy. Robert just doesn’t want Julieta to get her hopes up, then be told “no.” Meanwhile, Julieta meets with the specialist who has some preliminary results. There is a great possibility that she can’t get pregnant. Julieta gulps and wonders if there is even a slight possibility that she can get pregnant. The specialist can't tell her for sure until he gets the results of all the tests he requested. He doesn’t want to give her false hopes; right now, the possibility of getting pregnant are about three percent.

At Belén’s, Eugenio admits that everything Blanca has said is true. He continues, “I was angry, desperate, and I couldn’t, or didn’t know how to channel the rage I felt, but not at any moment, did I stop loving you. As Eugenio swears, Blanca steps back and cries. Eugenio tells her, “I love you; you are my life…of that you shouldn’t have the least doubt. I was stubborn and dumb…but I never stopped loving you…not one single day.” When Eugenio asks Blanca if she still loves him, she doesn’t know. She explains, “It is difficult to know if what I feel is love or a custom.” Eugenio thinks it’s love and asks that they start over. He wants her to return with him so he can show her that he can be a good husband…the one she always waited for. Blanca doesn’t know if she will return; and he shouldn’t expect her to be the same person she has always been.

At the orphanage, Carmelo introduces Dave to Ana and Tulio who came to meet him. When Tulio asks why he wears that costume, Dave explains that he is a superhero. Ana recalls meeting Dave at the foundation; he is a burned victim. When Tulio comments that they didn’t know Dave was burned, Carmelo explains that they arrived specifically asking to see David; and Carmelo had planned to tell them about Dave. As Tulio remarks that he wants to adopt a child that is well…not one that has to be treated with care, Julieta walks up and tells them that, of course, they will not adopt Dave. Julieta will not allow them to hurt David, too...especially after all the damage they have already caused. Julieta warns Carmelo that they are not good candidates to adopt any child. When Tulio argues that if they want to adopt that child, they will do so, Julieta retorts that they will do nothing...because she is his mother! Dave looks up at Julieta and hugs her...

RVG Chick: NOT shocked Gabriel got tricked by Daddy Mussi again!

Thank you, RgvChick, for your most wonderful recap.

Yay for:
Blanca not caving to weepy eyed “poor me” Eugenio who dared to darken her door.
Blanca telling Eugenio that she is not sure if she still loves Eugenio and twisting that knife.
Daniela grabbing that skateboard and trying to pursue the goons and Gabriel.

Boo to:
An intervention disguised as a kidnapping..
Polita’s mother.
Tulio’s tearful tale.

“?” to:
Augusto so worried about Gabriel leaving them again but doing his best to destroy him and drive him away.

Yeah, Steve. Gabriel shouldn't trust a word out of Augusto's mouth. I'm sure Gabriel's suspicions aren't too far off what DaddyDevil has up his sleeve.

That scene with Tulio crying was pitiful. Are they trying to make us feel sorry for him? Don't think so, dudes!!

Another mystery--what did Polita do (or not do) to make her mother so bitter?

So Julieta's premonition came true...or was it an editor's blunder...HA!

More later...

Jarifa, thanks!

High five to your Yays and Boos!

RgvChick, I am voting for editor’s blunder.

Thank you for your recap, Rgv Chick!

Jarifa – I love your Yays and Boos!!!

That was no mouse. That. was. a. rat. and I was squealing thru the whole scene. But after reading the recap, perhaps that is “Maritza” a pet rat. Eeeeww!

Blanca needs to stand firm, stay the course, yadda yadda. I do not trust Eugenio’s motives. He still wants his chief cook & bottle-washer back home so he won’t be inconvenienced.

It will be interesting to see who Gab’s Mystery Date will be. (cue the “Mystery Date” theme music! ♪♫♪LOL)

Tulio and Ana adopting? No. Puede. Ser.!!! However, the way this telenovela is going, they probably will adopt and Dave will change their hearts, they will be fully redeemed, and Disney birds will arrange Ana’s hair and clothing, etc. etc. etc. (yuck)

What could give me insomnia, nightmares, whatevs, is the thought of Linda and Bruno procreating. Ack! More of the same! Ack!!!

Doris: Tulio & Ana are so EVIL!

Your welcome, Doris!!

"I do not trust Eugenio’s motives. He still wants his chief cook & bottle-washer back home so he won’t be inconvenienced." I sure hope Blanca see through those tears...anyone notice that Eugenio started his "change of heart" only after Imelda told him Blanca was right and that she would be apologizing?

"What could give me insomnia, nightmares, whatevs, is the thought of Linda and Bruno procreating. Ack! " DOUBLE DITTOOO!!

Doris, I just took a close look at your avatar...too funny!!

Rgv Chick - Thanks! That is a screenshot from Facebook newsfeed, and I could soooo relate. LOL

Doris: What did Polita do to get her Mommy to hate her so much ?

Thanks RGV!!!

I'm wondering if Augusto is going to set Gabi up with a woman from his past---maybe a past love lost? I can't see how a stranger could change things. It could be more sinister but I hope not.

Gabi's hiding things and lies to Dani are going to come back to bite him. Dani knows something is wrong. If she finds out about this date thing from someone other than Gabi she will be heartbroken.

Glad Blanca held her ground with Eugenio. Wow, the more we hear of the years past the worse it sounds. Eugenio has a lot to make up for.

Ana doesn't seem interested in adopting even though she went with Tulio. I worry about all of those pills she is taken. I think she is heading for an overdose.

The fact that Tulio would say he didn't want a child with issues in front of the child tells you he shouldn't have one. Glad Juli saved him.

Poor Polita! Her past seems so tragic. I hope we get more information.

Carvivlie, you're welcome!

Good point on Augusto setting up Gabi with someone from his past. I still think Augusto is going to leak the info to Dani somehow. As you pointed out she will be heartbroken if she finds out from someone other that Gabi...that's probably what Augusto and the Hermonsters are shooting for.

"The fact that Tulio would say he didn't want a child with issues in front of the child tells you he shouldn't have one." Agreed!!

doris, good call on the vermin!

Gab's hermonstruas will likely take pics of the Mystery Date ( and ITA that she will be an old flame) and send them to Dani.

I think Augusto wants to set up Gabriel by having Dani show up to catch him on a "date" and, of course, misinterpret the situation. Gabriel should tell her what's going on and prepare her for anything his family might have up their sleeves.

RgvChick, thanks for another great recap!

So much, so much to comment on, so, in no particular order:

Yeah, that was a rat. A cute, very tame pet rat. Perfect for our hero Gaby! :-)

The scenes of Audifaz talking to Tulio about their childhood are a bit touching, BUT those things do not excuse what Ana and Tulio did. And why, oh why, would Audi recommend this couple adopt a child? So they could treat him heartlessly for a while and then reject him? Was there ever a couple less suited to be parents?

I really, really, really want to see who DaddyDevil has in mind for Gaby. Yeah, either a long lost love, or someone so hot that she is always in danger of ignition. Hmmm... I don't think Salma Hayek does telenovelas anymore, so...

more later

Andy: good call on “daddy devil”

I'm liking Linda and Bruno more now. Neither was very likeable at first, but they are maturing and they are a good, though scary, match.

RgvChickie, thanks for "DaddyDevil". That's cute.

I do like that the writers of this show think more than two episodes ahead. Much earlier in this TN Eugenio and Blanca had some sort of discussion or argument, I don't remember it in any detail, but as Eugenio walked away he turned and looked at Blanca and said "I love you, Blanca." But he said it to himself, not to her, not aloud.
I remember thinking 'Eugenio, you're an idiot. Go tell her out loud, you would get a million Brownie points."
The point is that the writers did not just now think of this part of the story line, it's been in there subtly for a while.
But I will admit that there are some story lines that make me wonder if this story isn't supposed to be taking place on another planet or in an alternate universe. Tulio, for instance.

Andy: Which is why Daddy Mussi & Co., will be successful in destroying Dani!

Steve, I think and I hope not. But I would not be all that surprised if Dani sees something that she misinterprets and then there is a quarrel. Love is not always a smooth ride :-)

Even so, I think they will be OK, and will probably invite us all to their wedding, though that may not be until next season, now that we know there will be a next season.

I like this TN so much that I'm happy there will be another season, but it also worries me. I have seen that the longer any TN goes on the harder it is to maintain the bittersweet tension of two lovers who keep separating because of ... whatever. And the longer the TN goes on, the more ridiculous and unbelievable the contrivances and misunderstandings become, until we start thinking that they are too stupid to be believed anymore (See E.de.Ramón), or the galán is so often so obnoxious that we start rooting for him to fall off a cliff or something so the lovely reina can marry the guy who was always there for her (See Mi Adorable Maldición). Meh.

Andy Banda - your are so right with your concerns about a second season. I wonder if the original Korean version had a second season? If not, then it will be worrisome. The good news is we don't have to watch. 😉

I have more hope because it is a 2nd season as opposed to an extension. An extension usually means they are making things up on the fly in order to have more episodes. An extension gives them time to plot a whole arc. Plus, if the extension is centered around Dani and Gabi as opposed to Juli and Rob, they have more material and different focus to work with. But will all of the players that are major now want to be secondary next season, i.e. Zuria and Daniel?

Thanks, Rgv Chick.

Imelda has been mulling things over and thinks Blanca is right; she thinks Eugenio needs to make her fall in love with him again…

My take is Eugenio is sincere wanting Blanca back because he loves her. But why does his move come only after mommy’s suggestion? Why would Blanca return to him based on his mere words? Hombre, you've got to change your ways first and support her in the things she wants to do. I love that Blanca said she doesn’t know if she loves him, or if she’s just accustomed to him. That hurt him to the quick -- good.

Gabriel then wonders if they want to give him some type of sedative that will make him pass out, take pictures of him with the lady and send them to Dani.

I vote "yes." Will Gab be smart enough to tell Dani all about this "date," or will he fall into Daddy Dearest's trap.

Normally I'm terrified of anything in the rodent family with a long skinny tail, but Maritza was so cute.

Niecie - rats gross me out but I have to admit that Maritza was cute. . . assuming that was Maritza. 🐭

Oh no, that rat scared the dickens out of me. I would have jumped up so fast if that had been me. Not as ugly as a NYC rat but close.

Niecie, you're welcome! And thank you, everyone for stopping by and providing such insightful and entertaining comments...even the ratty ones :-) I thought the rat was cute, too!

What I'm afraid of is that Gabi might do away with "Maritza" if the rat is Maritza. Sam may have just used the term "mascota/pet" and not specified what the pet actually was! Oopsie!!

Carvivlie, no! Maritza (I'm assuming) was very cute!

Even NYC subway rats can be cute, under special circumstances. A few years ago I was in the subway waiting for a train and I saw some rats on the tracks, presumably searching for food bits to eat.

There was this medium sized rat who must have been a Mom Rat, as there were four smaller, juvenile rats with her. The kid rats were being kids, chasing each other around, jumping on momma's back, nipping at her tail, etc. She just let them, an indulgent mother. It made an impression on me. Gee, I thought, rats are people too. OK, that didn't make any sense and it was just an errant thought, and I don't want any rats close to me, but even rats have mommas for what that's worth.

Andy, I hear what you are saying about rats and I enjoy watching them run around the subway tracks but get one on a platform and I'm running the other direction.

But yes RGV I hope Gabi doesn't harm the rat because Sam may kick him out!

I didn't occur till after I posted, but even rats have mommas -- but they never call her.

Andy and Carvivlie - my mother grew up in Brooklyn and I can still hear her telling me, as a child, to never ever corner a rat because if you do, it can jump right up and bite you in the jugular vein. I have no idea if that is possible, but all her other rules for surviving Brooklyn have been good. LOL

I watched a documentary on rats last month. It was fascinating. Yes, when threatened they do jump on you and attack. : (.
