Mi Marido Tiene Familia Friday 12/29/17 Capítulo 92: “Thank You for Loving My Son” . . . Maybe --OR--Imelda the Mouth

Robert explains that Dave’s biological mom has decided that the best for Dave is to stay with them. His mother will be able to come to visit him, and he her whenever they want. Yes, Dave does want to live with them until they are good and old. Bruno asks Dave if he missed his snoring. No. The next thing that is heard is Dave’s growling stomach. He is hungry because Robert bought him only a sandwich. Bruno offers him some pizza but Julieta makes Dave wash his hands first. Dave apologizes for going with his mother. Julieta tells him that she understood that he had to see his mother and that he has every right in the world to continue seeing her. As Bruno helps Robert move in Dave’s things, he says he now understands why Robert and Julieta are the perfect couple because they settled everything by talking. Julieta was all furious and Robert was calm and conciiatory. Robert thinks that couples have to make their way complementing each other. Robert then asks how things are going with his sister Linda. Bruno says perfect that the relationship is going along. She came to visit him at school after all. Robert senses some ambivalence and fishes for more information. Bruno tells him he can breathe easily that Linda is not involved with a serial killer. Robert warns him that if he hurts her, he will have to deal with him or his father’s scissors. Bruno swears not to hurt her and thinks maybe it is better to get Dave’s things moved in because Dave is waiting to eat supper. Robert just laughs.

When Robert gets back, Julieta expresses her concern that this all may be a trap set by Dave’s mother. Robert explains that tomorrow they have to go to see Carmelo so she can sign over her parental rights to them. Julieta asks if he did this all through just talking. Yes, Robert says they have a complaint that was solved “Robert style.” He promises her that David is going to be their son. They kiss and Bruno covers Dave’s eyes and reminds them that children (including him) are present. Julieta announces the very delicious Robert’s special “Robert’s style” super nutritious watercress salad to go along with the pizza. Bruno and Dave agree they do not like salad. Robert tells Julieta that his adoptive parents are coming tomorrow.

Blanca is driving Eugenio crazy by repeating what she is going to say to the Coopers: Hello, my name is Blanca. Nice to meet you. Thank you very much for loving my son. She insists it has to be perfect because they took care of their son, educated him and loved him. Eugenio just wants to go to bed already. They can thank the Coopers tomorrow. Blanca is thinking ahead on all they have to do for tomorrow: soak the beans, wash the rice, marinate the meat, peel the peppers. . . They have to taste the real food of Oaxaca. She leaves Eugenio laughing hysterically in bed as she repeats her greeting on the way to the kitchen.

Julieta tells Dave a bedtime story and he falls asleep in her arms. Robert walks in and says his adoptive parents did the same with him. Dave wants to give Dave all of the love that his adoptive parents gave him. They made him find his faith in people and in life again. Julieta thinks it is great that Grace and Robert Cooper are going to Be able to meet Dave.

The next day at breakfast Blanca is still practicing her greeting. Linda asks what they should call Robert’s adoptive parents.. . . They should call them by the term “padres putativos”(adoptive parents/step parents) as suggests Imelda. Eugenio covers Frida’s ears ( because “putativo” although it is the correct word sounds nasty)(puta by itself means: slut, whore).) Marisol suggests “padres adoptivos” (adoptive parents) because it sounds much nicer. Frida doesn’t like that either. Blanca suggests just calling them the Cooper family. Eugenio asks if the father is Colombian, how did he end up being a Cooper? Blanca wants them all to treat the Coopers with respect and gratitude and not to mention that ugly word again. Imelda asks what word? padres putativos? Eugenio covers Frida’s ears one more time. Imelda says the Coopers made their Juan Pablo a good man but that doesn’t stop them from being padres putativos. She just won’t let it go.

The door bell rings and it is Dave with Robert and Julieta. Robert says they just wanted to give them the excellent news that Dave has returned. Blanca tells Robert everything is ready for his adoptive patent’s arrival. Robert advises them not to have a big celebration because his parents are very uncomplicated people. They will love everything. Linda is concerned because they are used to everything being the “gringo way”. Imelda informs them that the celebration is going to be all Mexican... Robert is going to pick up his parents. . . after a period of silence he adds his ”other parents” ”the Coopers" at the airport.

Julieta talks to Luz at work about how she is going to be greeting her in-laws, the other ones. Luz reminds her how she never wanted any in-law and now she has two sets. Julieta has not really met them but has had video chats with them. Julieta thinks that after her Córcega experience nothing can surprise her. She expects that she will like them. Luz finds that funny.

At Diana’s office, she informs Robert, Julieta and Dave how the bully brat was disciplined. The principal talked to Dorian’s parents about their child. Dave was not the only classmate he bothered. The next time he does i, he will be expelled. Julieta explains to Dave that is so important that he lets them know when something like that happens. Nobody has the right to say hateful things to him. Diana tells him that bullying has to be reported. Dave is worried that he will be sent back to the orphanage if he complains. He is assured that will not happen. He has the same rights as all of the other kids at that school.

Blanca is still rehearsing her greeting as they continue to prepare for the celebration. Imelda tells her she sounds great. Blanca wants to be perfect. The musicians and the fireworks have arrived. As things get more and more complicated, Daniela asks them what part of “simple celebration” did they not understand. There is no answer to that one.

At the orphanage, Yela in tears is bemoaning the fact that she has to sign her son away. She only wanted to be with her son but she has realized that Robert and Julieta will be excellent parents. She is ready to sign away her parental rights and does so. Carmelo announces that the adoption process is complete.

Dave and Frida have a talk over lunch. She asks him if he is sad not living with his mother anymore. Not too much because he prefers to be with Julieta and Robert. Frida asks about his father. Dave never saw him but Julieta and Robert told him that they were his new parents. He asks about Frida’s father. Frida explains sometimes he visits her, he is off and on. She is tired of it. She did have another father but now he went, too. Dave pats her on the arm.

Marisol is in the kitchen caught up in thoughts of Ignacio and Xavi. She is supposed to be adding liquid from the onions to the pork but ends up adding liquid from the peppers to the meat becaus she is so distracted.

Everyone is all dressed up for the Coopers arrival. Blanca is still rehearsing her greeting. she tells them all to cross their fingers so turns out well.

Julieta is going to get Dave all ready for the celebration. Dave asks if Robert loves his adoptive parents a lot because he sure loves his.

The Córcega’s are anxiously awaiting the Cooper’s arrival. Audifaz will be coming later after work. Blanca is still rehearsing. Much to her dismay, everyone tells her to cut it already. Gabriel tells Daniela they should take advantage of the fact that everyone is together to tell them about their upcoming wedding. The musicians arrive with the marimaba and Eugenio says they want to know what songs to play. Blanca wants the most Mexican that they have. Everyone agrees. Blanca next calls Juan Pablo to see where he is.
He is a block away. The excitement mounts.

Robert arrives with his adoptive parents to a huge sign on the side of the building welcoming them as well as other decorations. Robert points out the bakery where they can go later. First he wants to introduce them so his family. To the surprise of the Cooper’s, the celebratory fireworks start going off. Robert explains that is what is done a lotin Mexico.

The Cooper’s walk into the Corcega’s apartment to be greeted by cheers, confetti, streamers, and super string. Robeet stands with his arms around his adoptive parents.

In the meantime, Amalia and Belén are on their way walking to the celebration. Amalia has news: Enzo wants them to live together. Belén is just worried about being late. Amalia is aggravated because she is not getting Belén’s full attention to her announcement.

Poor Blanca is so nervous at the celebration that she is unable to deliver her greeting to the Cooper’s. Grace comes forward and in English tells Blanca that Robert has said so many wonderful things about her and how proud he is to be her son. Robert becomes the translator in chief. Grace hugs Blanca. Blanca thanks her for giving him their love, not leaving him alone, for protecting him when he was so little and vulnerable and for making him a great person. Grace answers that the pleasure was all hers. They hug again. Robert Sr. introduces himself as well as Eugenio. The music starts. Imelda welcomes them all. Grace and Robert Sr. introduce themselves to Julieta and Dave. Rob Sr. sees Julieta and Robert much as himself and Grace. He turns to Grace and gives her a big dip and a kiss. Everyone is quite surprised so Imelda calls for applause. The Cooper’s just laugh. They all introduce themselves.

Robert is talking to Blanca in another room. She is all embarrassed because she made a fool out of herself with her greeting. Robert tells her that his mom Grace loves her in English which Blanca understands. If he brought his parents to see her, it was to show her off not to make fun of her. Robert tells her that she is still practicing her English and that she has the perfect opportunity to practice her English with the Cooper’s. Just hearing her talking English makes him the proudest son in the world. He has a super mom who cooks, manages a household, studies, takes care of all of them, dances, sings and even speaks English. They leave arm in arm.

At Catalina’s house, Hugo Jr. is baking his cookies. Catalina tastes them and says they are exquisite. He is going to start his own business: Tornado Cookies. “Tornado”was the nickname that Catalina gave to him. Each time he says Tornado Cookies he does a little spin. He plans to start selling them outside of Diana’s school. Next, he will open a store and after that Tornado Cookies will be sweetening the planet. Suddenly Catalina thinks that she and Diana should join forces for Hugo Jr.’s own good. What does Diana know about him selling his cookies? Diana supports him completely. It is better than him not doing anything. Catalina notices that Diana closed up her computer when she walked in. Is there something she didn’t want her to see on her Facebook? No, Diana was doing school work. She leaves the room.

Blanca is making blue corn tortillas from scratch. She gives Dave a taste. Dave asks Julieta if she knows how to make tortillas. Luckily for Julieta, Grace comes in saying that Rob Sr. does all of the cooking at their house. Julieta says she herself could burn water. Grace says at least their is someone to cook for them so they do not starve to death. Grace starts talking about the chicken pot pie that her husband made with organnic ingredients from the farmers market with obviously free range chicken. Grace loves the fresh tortillas.

Eugenio makes a toast between the two families. Belén and Amalia finally arrive and introduces themselves. Robert and his father start horsing around amd drinking shots and hugging each other. Imelda remarks how much they look like each other. She tells Blanca and Eugenio that Robert looks more like the Cooper’s than them. Blanca agrees but looks sad. Eugenio tells them not to put such thoughts into their heads. Imelda continues saying that Juan Pablo was right when he said he did not want to change his name. To drive home her point, Imelda adds that “Robert Cooper” is Juan Pablo’s essence.

Marisol sees Xavi and follows him into his apartment. Xavi asks about what is going on and when he shears about the party for the Cooper’s, he says he would have liked to have been there because they all sound so happy. She looks around and notices he is moving out quickly. He got an apartment nearby with a real inexpensive rent so he hopes to be out today. Marisol wants him to know that she is going to keep her word and help him get his music career back on track. Xavi knows that. Xavi always dreamed of finding somebody special that he could dedicate all of his musical acts to. He found that person in her. Marisol will always be in that first row applauding. Xavi never knew he could love anyone as much as he loves her. He goes to kiss her. She avoids the kiss by talking business and leaves.

Back at the celebration, Gabriel and Daniela are helping aout in the kitchen. Daniela says that that the Cooper’s are just lovely. Gabriel feels that her parents are jealous. Daniela sees that as normal but thinks they are all going to end up being friends because all of them are such great people. Daniela says that then Cooper’s must have a big heart to adopt so many children. Linda has to add a mean spirited comment: maybe they have a lot of money. Imelda gets Blanca on the side to tell her wherever she has been going to take English lessons surly have not been doing a good job with her. Blanca says it is difficult. Gabriel tells her in English that he thinks that she is very brave. Gabriel announces that they have a date for the wedding. Eugenio asks how would the date be set without anybody knowing. Amalia says that they must be hiding something like a pregnancy. Daniela scowls at her and says that they just decided. Gabriel also invites the Cooper’s. Blanca wants to know the date. Julieta chimes in that as godparents she and Robert have to know. Daniela tells them they are getting married in two months. Everyone is shocked by the news. Eugenio thinks it is a very short time. Blanca says they will have to rush to get it all done. Eugenio says to Daniela that she was never going to get married. He looks angry. Robert interrupts and says that love always makes us change our opinion. Grace adds to the pile with telling everyone that she and Robert Sr. got married after knowing each other for just two months. Robert Sr. adds that the passion between them has never ended. Again he grabs and dips Grace and kisses her. Imelda says they realized that already . . . Imelda takes over saying they have to organize this wedding almost with a stop watch. Tomorrow they will start. It might be the last wedding for her family she will ever see. Gabriel throws a wrench in the plans saying that his family is going to want to help.

In the kitchen, Grace asks Julieta how the adoption process was for her. Julieta answers saying that it was complicated. Ar the beginning, they did not know if they wanted to do it, then the process got very complicated and then Dave’s mother appeared. Robert helped her so very much. They brought him up very well. Grace informs her that she and her husband only wanted to point Robert towards discovering his own path. From the time he was a small child, he was very honorable. Juleta says that she and Robert have very different personalities. Grace admits that she and her husband do, also. Her husband is very calm and she at times she is very fussy. Julieta says that describes her and Robert, too. Grace thinks that they are going to get along really well. They hug. Blanca walks in and sees them. She sadly leaves.

Back at the celebration Grace is with the women and is telling a joke: ¿Qué le dijo la alberca al toro? /What did the swimming pool say to the bull?/ Nada, güey. /Swim (Nothing), dude./ With the men, Dave is asking Robert Sr. about adopting Robert. Robert Sr. says that they went on to adopt two brothers and a sister for him. Dave asks Robert if he is going to adopt brothers and sisters for him. Robert asks him if he wants brothers and sisters. Dave says not today. He can barely put up with Bruno. Robert Sr. says he sounds just like Robert at that age. He wanted all of the attention just for himself. Eugenio adds that when Robert was a little boy he wanted to be baker just like him. Eugenio says just by looking at Dave he knows he wants to be a baker. No, Dave wants to be like his grandfather Robert. He wants to travel a lot. Eugenio is not too happy.

Finally, it is time to sit at the table and eat. Blanca wants Grace to sit next to her so she can practice her English. Grace mentions how much food they have prepared. Aristóteles tells her she is going to want to “die over the food” from his grandmother Imelda’s recipes. Robert explains to Grace that the expression just means that the food will be really delicious. They are going to start with the pork dish. Grace asks if it is hot in terms of being spicy. Imelda assures her it is not and asks Robert to explain the dish to Grace. Robert says it is Mexican pulled pork. Blanca insists that the guests serve themselves first. She cannot wait for their reaction. Grace and Robert Sr. almost choke on the pork it is so hot. Marisol being her ignorant self laughs out loud. Eugenio tries next with Frida and they have the same reaction. Finally Amalia tries some and suffers with the rest of them. Soon they are all coughing and trying to cool their mouths down with water or milk. Imelda says she tried it and it isn’t very hot.

Blanca gives Grace a bolillo (roll) to chew on. Blanca is sure they are going to love the rest of the dishes. Imelda adds that if anybody has to use a washroom or something hers is ready. Robert asks Imelda if she remembers that he said that his parents were staying in a hotel.Imelda presses on. If she did not invite them that would just make her look like she had no manners. Robert Sr. croaks our that they are staying at a hotel. No way, insists Imelda. They can stay in Blanca and Eugenio’s room. Eugenio asks with him and Blanca. Robert Sr. says no way will they put them out. Their hotel is already paid. Imelda insists that it just shows a bad upbringing to refuse hospitality. Robert says “grandmother” to try to shut her up. Imelda comes back with “grandmother nothing”. The Cooper’s are going to stay with them as they deserve.

Comments:
Wow! Imelda was so obnoxious it was unbelievable.
More later.

Excellent recap as usual, Jarifa! I agree that Imelda is as tactless as ever. And thanks for explaining Grace's joke; the double meaning of Nada just didn't occur to me. Grace's command of Spanish seems a little strange. Sometimes she seems hardly to speak it and sometimes she is completely fluent. And I hate to be a nit- picker (of course I do:)), but while Daniel Arenas' English is quite good, his pronunciation isn't as perfect as that of someone raised in an English-speaking environment from age 4 would be--you hear it especially in consonant combinations. I wonder if Dave's mother is getting anything from Robert. Maybe a job or a stable place to live? Diana, Robert and Julieta practically gave a PSA on bullying. I loved Hugo's advertising slogan about his cookies sweetening the planet.

Blanca's jealousy of the Coopers rings very true.

Jarifa - Thank you for the recap! I'm glad I had time to read before going out this evening. :-)

When Mari was mindlessly spooning that liquid into the pulled pork, I did not know what it was but figured things were not going to go well.

SpanProf - ITA about Robert's English pronunciation. I had to slap my telenovela beanie on my head for that one.

Poor Blanca, messing up her English greeting to the Coopers. This is exactly why I encouraged the Adult ESL program where I volunteer to have conversation classes, and why I volunteered to facilitate them over the years. Learning and then practicing it in actual use are two different things.

Bruno is really settling down and becoming a likeable human, so far.

Imelda ..... ugh. So if she insists the Coopers sleep in Blanca & Eugenio's room, where are B&E supposed to sleep? Seriously, Imelda should give up her own bed. Right? What a bossy, pompous, old bat.

Thanks Jarifa!

ITA that Imelda was very pushy and obnoxious. I really wished the Coopers had held the course and insisted on going to the hotel.

Feel bad for Blanca and Eugenio. I can understand their discomfort.

Oh I hope Dani and Gabi can keep Imelda down while planning the wedding. Luckily. Juli was able to but I think that only happened because she walked out on Rob so when she came back they were on their best behavior. We all remember the cruel remarks about the wedding invitations.

Must admit I felt bad for Dave's mom when she was crying while R and J hugged after signing her parental rights away.

Jarifa, thank you very much for this excellent and very detailed recap. I very much enjoyed watching this episode but I have to admit that I got a lot more from your recap than from watching.

It's a small thing, but that gravity defying, or weak back defying, dip of Grace by Rob Sr. was hokey.

Aside from that, there was a lot of much more serious stuff going on. It definitely took a great deal of writing to recap this one.

Carvivlie, I agree with you, "Must admit I felt bad for Dave's mom when she was crying while R and J hugged after signing her parental rights away."

I wouldn't be surprised if they try to help her a little somehow. After all, she is Dave's biological mother and Rob understands that Dave will want to be in contact with her.

But Rob and Julieta can't take on all the problems in the world. Speaking of problems, where is Tulio anyway?

You are welcome and thanks, everybody, for your kind comments and stopping on by on this holiday weekend!

SpanProf, good point about those consonant combinations. Language nitpicking is always fun. Yes, it was almost a PSA on bullying.

doris, I am hoping that Robert Sr. And Grace just leave and go sleep wherever they wish and let Imelda throw a tantrum. Her comment about t his being maybe her last wedding to get sympathy to get more control in planning the wedding also irked me.

Carvivlie, yes, the family reunion is not easy on anybody given the background of the whole situation. I so pity Blanca thinking what that witch Ana and her own family put her through. Robert and Julieta are going to have quite the balancing act on their hands.

Andy, yes the dip was definitely hokey but I think that Robert and Grace are on the hokey side. Good comment about that rat Tulio. I am sure we have not seen the last of him. I wonder what hole he is hiding in. ; )

Jarifa: The title of this recap much says it all.

Thanks, Jarifa. Terrific title and recap. You are a gem doing this for us over the holiday.

His mother will be able to come to visit him, and he her whenever they want.

Carvivlie and Andy, I felt sorry for Yela too. But sadly, she hasn’t given Dave reason to want to visit her, with her negative comments and lack of fun, loving ways. She complained about the need to apply ointment to his skin, played no games with him, not good company for anyone, much less a kid. Will she seek help out of the hole she’s in?

Poor Blanca is so nervous at the celebration that she is unable to deliver her greeting to the Cooper’s … Imelda gets Blanca on the side to tell her wherever she has been going to take English lessons surely have not been doing a good job with her.

I felt so sorry for Blanca, after all the classes and constant practicing before everybody. And then, Imelda has to criticize.

Imelda continues saying that Juan Pablo was right when he said he did not want to change his name. To drive home her point, Imelda adds that “Robert Cooper” is Juan Pablo’s essence.

Robert is certainly more like his adoptive dad than he is Eugenio. I don’t see Eugenio and Blanca can help feeling jealous and insecure see how fabulous the Coopers are and how happy Robert is being with them. But all four are loving parents, so they’ll get on well if Imelda just shuts up.

Wow, what typos. "I don’t see how Eugenio and Blanca can help feeling jealous and insecure seeing how fabulous the Coopers are and how happy Robert is being with them."

Thanks, Niecie. I am in total agreement about Yela. Leaving the door open probably facilitated the adoption but I do not expect Dave will see much of if any of her.

As for the two families vying for Robert’s affections, you are so right about Imelda just keeping her obnoxious opinions to herself. Naturally Blanca and Eugenio would feel threatened. The “Imelda's“ of this world somehow revel in that just because of their age/family position, etc. they get to say whatever they want no matter how hurtful it may be. . I cannot believe she criticized Robert Sr. to his face on his upbringing for refusing her invitation/mandate to stay with them.

Imelda 👺 took a real cheap shot at Blanca's English classes. Do we even know how many weeks she has been in classes? It doesn't seem long but that could be telenovela time vs TV/real time.

Good Morning!

Jarifa, great retelling of all the events...from the happy ones to the frustrating ones.

I must agree with everyone about Imelda. What a holy terror she was! If anyone should or could have stopped her, it would have been Eugenio as "man of the house," but he keeps bowing to her every word. I do hope the Coopers stand up to her and refuse to stay...just to annoy her.

Robert Sr. and Grace were delightful! Loved the "hokey" dip. I think that if Robert had toned it down a bit with the hugs, Eugenio and Blanca would still be threatened, but not as much.

I also felt sorry for Yela, not necessarily because she won't have her son, but because the way the scene was written, Robert and Julieta seemed to ignore her and her grief. If they had stopped and thanked her or assured her, I think I wouldn't have felt as a sorry for her as I did.

From what I noticed, everyone seemed to speak some English except for Eugenio, Imelda and Blanca. Was that correct?

SpanProf, what a good observation on the consonant combinations...I'm impressed!

I'm already feeling sorry for Dani and Gabriel. Between Imelda and the Hermonsters, they are going to have one heck of a time planning their wedding. Maybe they should just elope.

It seems to me that Mi marido is taking on a celebratory tone and most of the worst conflicts have been resolved--Of course, I could be wrong!

Thanks, RgvChick. I felt sorry for Yela, too, for the same reasons you gave. She really is a pathetic character.

SpanProf, would it not great if this ended on a happy note? Knowing they are planning a season 2,I hope there are no cliff hangers

Was the second season approved before this one ended? Do we know if all of the cast is coming back?

RGV chick, yeah, "I also felt sorry for Yela, not necessarily because she won't have her son, but because the way the scene was written, Robert and Julieta seemed to ignore her and her grief. If they had stopped and thanked her or assured her, I think I wouldn't have felt as a sorry for her as I did."

It was quite a contrast between Rob/Julieta behind and Yela in the foreground. Maybe Rob/Julieta paid some mind to Yela when it was shot, but it got cut in editing. I'm often a bit annoyed at not seeing a scene played out all the way. They have to stop at some point, but I too often feel they stopped before they should have. I felt this way when the Musi family had that awkward dinner at the Córcega home. I would have loved to have seen how they were getting along when the Musis left.

Jarifa, another exceptional outing.

I love your style of writing. A few, well chosen words never fail to convey the exact intention: “He is a block away. The excitement mounts” and “The Cooper’s walk into the Corcega’s apartment to be greeted by cheers, confetti, streamers, and super string”. Perfect.

I so appreciate your vocabulary "padres putativos”(adoptive parents/step parents)" which added a few words to my rather limited one.

"Julieta was all furious and Robert was calm and conciliatory" is the heart and soul of their relationship. Strangely in sync yet handled completely differently. But never at odds.

"Dave is worried that he will be sent back to the orphanage if he complains". I hope the reassurances work but even more that the lead bully has been "silenced" SpanProf. Dave is already dealing with so much more than a child should have to!

"Imelda remarks how much they look like each other. She tells Blanca and Eugenio that Robert looks more like the Cooper’s than them". She just can't help herself, can she? Or, won't...It is a bit surprising RgvChick that Eugenio remained silent. The one time he should speak up...

"Xavi asks about what is going on and when he shears about the party for the Cooper’s, he says he would have liked to have been there because they all sound so happy". I'm sad Xavi did not get to be part of the gathering with the family with whom he's become so emotionally attached.

"I don’t see Eugenio and Blanca can help feeling jealous and insecure see how fabulous the Coopers are and how happy Robert is being with them". I completely agree Niecie. The one image that stayed with me is Robert hugging Robert Sr. with great joy and obvious love. In that moment, I realized that no matter what happens in the future, nothing can make up for the many years Robert spent with his adoptive parents. It was their love and affection that help make him the amazing man he is. While new memories are waiting to be created with Eugenio and Blanca, there are hundreds of memories remembered and cherished from the past.

Blanca must not let the present wound her any more than the past has. All will come in time. With patience.

Jarifa, thank you, thank you.

Diana

Carvivlie, I did some research. . . it ended on 10/22 in Mexico and it was announced on 10/22 that there would be a second season. So, your guess is as good as mine at this point as to cast, etc.

OT, 2017 was the best year yet for me and telenovelas with great comedies : La fan(Telemundo), El bienamado/dramas: La candidata/dramedies: MMTF/narconovelas: La reina del sur (Netflix). Did you have any favorites looking back?

Diana, thanks. These episodes just are so well done. It was hard with Xavi being on the outside looking in. Marisol seems more confused than anything else so who knows where things will lead if she can give herself the time and distance to center herself. I am hopeful .

Jarifa and Diana, yeah, that was yet another thing, Xavi. The current situation is a real shame, but I am hopeful it will work out.

And, before I forget, Happy New Year to all the good people here! Including, or perhaps especially, blog mom Jane.

Happy New Year to all as well! Soon it will be time to decide which tn to move on to.

HAPPY NEW YEAR, PATIO PEEPS as well as all the other CARAY PEEPS!!

May the new year bring you much happiness, success and good health...some believable, well-written TNs that are worthy of our time, attention and mockery would be nice too :-)

Wishing all good health and a happy 2018!

Happy New Year to my friends on the Patio! 🎊🎊🎊🎉🎉🎉🍾🍾🥂🥂

Happy New Year all!!!

All the best in the coming year, Diana

Happy New Year, everbody!

If anyone should or could have stopped her, it would have been Eugenio as "man of the house," but he keeps bowing to her every word.

I keep looking for Eugenio's growth to see if he will put his mom in her place. He has scolded his mom for gossiping and for barging in on Robert, but that's all. Looking forward to seeing if he, or someone else, will put her in her place tonight.

OT: Jarifa, for 2017, I'm counting MMTF and the action-packed La Piloto as my favorites. Even though MMTF has some secondary storylines that in my opinion never took flight, the main ones are great. La Piloto was definitely not family-oriented, with relentless violence, but had a feisty female lead and friends who stuck together in adversity. La Doble Vida de Estela Carrillo wound up too twisted; if they do a Part 2 and drop the twisted stuff, I'd check it out again.

Thanks, Niecie, for the novela info. I am always looking for something to watch.

Happy New Year patio peeps!

Happy 2018! I hope everybody is well and not hung over, or only slightly :-)

Now that we have gotten past such trivialities as Christmas, New Years, family gatherings, peace on earth (rats! I must have blinked and missed it), etc., maybe we can get back to important things like TNs. Univision's current line-up of the good (Mi Marido), the bad (Ramoon), and the ugly (Rey David), will soon be history. Let's hope for something(s) decent in 2018.

Thank you Jarifa and Happy New Year to you all!

Jarifa, thank you for clearing up the part about Marisol's putting juice from the hot peppers in the mixture rather than the onion juices. I saw her dreamily sitting there, but it went right over my head as to what she was doing. What was the name of the dish that was like "pulled pork"?

I wanted to put sock in Imedlda's mouth. She is so, so rude! What is wrong with her thinking? People like their privacy and want to stay in hotels. And she VOLUNTEERED that Eugenio and Blanca hand over their room to Robert and Grace. Now, when it's children, you can put them down on sleeping bags and everyone "camps out" wherever. But with adults? You can't expect adults to play summer camp.

Marisol needs to be more honest with her feelings to Xavi and tell him how hurt she was concerning that she was the fan who kissed him long ago. But she should also forgive him because being so long ago, how the heck should he have remembered?

Cynthia, you are welcome. Whatever the name of the “cochinto” dish was, I could not find a recipe anywhere so I just went with Robert’s “pulled pork” description. I do not exactly understand Marisol being hung up on the “kiss”. It seems sort of silly to me given the fact he wants her.
