Mi marido tiene familia Wednesday 12/13/17 Capítulo 78: Gabriel High and Dry--OR--A Couple of Wins for Amalia

A little bit of this and a little bit of that . . .

Aldo seeing Julieta with a baby in her arms is very interesting to him. He thought he would never see Julieta Aguilar with a baby.

Back at the hospital, Eugenio is going through physical therapy as Robert watches.

Gabriel tries to rent a room at a hotel for a week just to find out that his credit card has been ”refused”. Another one of his cards has also been “blocked”. Can he pay in cash?

Aldo tells Julieta about the joys of parenthood. He asks if she has changed her mind about not having children and just wanting a career. She does not know what she is missing. Julieta returns his baby and wishes him well. Julieta tells Luz that she and Aldo ended their relationship because he wanted a career and a family. Julieta realizes now that she is missing something in her life and she knows what it is.

Blanca is driving everyone to the contest. Hugo Jr. and Belén offer to drive but Blanca insists that she can. Enzo calls Amalia to find out where she is. Blanca drives the SUV whistling as she goes until the police stop her. The policeman gets her on not going the normal speed and not stopping before a speed bump. He asks for her documents and her driving license. She has nothing. He will have impound her vehicle. He also makes a comment about her bad driving that she does not take kindly to. Blanca tells them all to take a taxi and she will stay with the vehicle.

Gabriel confronts his sisters at the restaurant about the closed credit cards. Clarissa tells him all of his cards have been cancelled. Cassandra adds that it was what their father ordered. Anyway, since he has no job, how could he pay them off? Clarissa says this is the price for being with his girl/boy. It is his decision. Gabriel tells them he will not be surrendering. He is going to be very happy with Daniela. Cassandra tells him it is time for him to leave “their” restaurant. When he is gone, Cassandra wonders if Gabriel will be driven to do the same thing he did years ago. Clarissa does not even want to mention it. It would kill their father. They look worried.

Once Gabriel leaves, he checks his wallet and he does not have much cash on him at all. Daniela calls him but does not have the heart to tell her what is happening to him. He tells her things are just great. She talks about getting money together to form a catalogue. He will see her later at the carpenter shop.

Robert tells his father the importance of keeping up with his physical therapy. Without the therapy the pain will be worse. Eugenio is there, isnt’t he? Robert changes the topic. He is going to the bank to see if they can transfer some money to Tulio. Eugenio wants him to know how how grateful he is. Robert’s phone rings and it is Blanca. She explains her situation. Robert is going to help her. Eugenio has heard the SUV is being impounded and insists on coming along.

Amalia and Belén and the rest go running to the contest which has already started. Enzo keeps calling her. Will Amalia make it?

Blanca does not want to sign the release for the vehicle until her lawyer comes. The policeman has to clear the road so the vehicle is towed with Blanca running after it.

Eugenio throws a fit about Blanca’s predicament. Robert tells him that Bkanca deserves respect. It would be better that he drop Eugenio at home. No way. Eugenio insists he is going. Robert tries to get him to control himself. Eugenio just knows nothing like this would have happened if she had just stayed at home and washed clothes, cooked, ironed and did what a normal wife does. Robert tries to get him to see that just because Blanca is his wife does not mean she has to be perfect. Robert does not want him making the situation worse than it is.

Diana gives Bruno some tips on teaching. His student has to see him as being confident. He has to have authority but at the same time develop a certain closeness with the student. Bruno is finding the whole “teacher thing” interesting. Who would have thought that? Linda texts him a photo. He shows it to Diana. Yes, his girlfriend is Julieta’s sister-in-law and Julieta does not like that one bit.

Gabriel arrives at the Oaxacan Paradise Motel. Unknown to him, Cassandra is following him and taking photos to send to Clarissa and their father. Gabriel goes in and gets a room for cash but is grossed out when he sees a cockroach marching around in full view (and may I mention, in full light)

Amalia amd her entourage finally arrive at the contest. She has arrived just in time. She gets herself psyched up to perform.

Clarissa shows the photos of Gabriel that Cassandra is sending her to their father Augusto. She is so upset that he ended up at a transient motel. Her father tells her it won’t last long. He also wants her to tell Cassandra not to take her eyes off of him. Gabriel is going to touch bottom soon enough. Augusto reminds his daughter that love ends when the money is gome. Cassandra expresses some concern asking her father what will happen if he is wrong. Augusto answers that he isn’t.

Robert arrives where Blanca is with Eugenio in tow. Eugenio turns out to be a royal pain in the . . . Eugenio cannot keep from criticizing her about her driving. He is now blaming her for making them spend more money when they don’t have any. Blanca says that if somebody would have taught her how to drive years ago then she would have had the documentation and the license that she needed. They refuse to talk to each other but talk through Robert. Blanca has to leave to see Amalia perform. She will take a taxi. She gives the paperwork the policeman gave her to Robert. She leaves completely ignoring Ignacio.

Julieta and Marisol talk about Linda And Bruno. Julieta would like to know more about Linda and why she is like she is. One day she is very aggressive and the next she wants to be Julieta’s best friend. The problem is that Bruno is as unstable as she is. Marisol explains that Linda is not a bad person, she just has to be noticed. The fact that she and Linda cannot stand each othe is not the reason that Julieta does not want Bruno and Linda together. She just wants Bruno to “land.” Marisol warns her that Linda is the type of person who gets even more obstinate when they are told that something is not possible. Marisol sees it as a lost cause trying o convince somebody to leave the person they love.

Bruno tells Linda that it isn’t that he is afraid of Julieta but she has been everything to him: his father, his mother, everything. He tells Linda how Julieta protected him and took care of him. Bruno’s advice is to just let time go by or Linda could do what Julieta did to get to know the family. Linda rolls her yes with that suggestion. Linda has another idea: she will do whatever she has to do to win Julieta over.

Amalia is in the middle of her performance as Blanca finally arrives. The crowd loves Amalia and applauds and cheers especially Enzo.

It is after school, and Marisol and Frida decide to go to see a movie. Marisol tells her she is her mother but she can still be her best friend.

Amalia and her sisters await the decision of the judges. In the meantime, the master of ceremonies makes a point of telling everyone that she wants to congratulate the women in this contest who in spite of their age, the aches and pains of menopause and being single have not given up. Amalia goes crazy hearing that until Enzo tells her how proud he is of her. Amalia is pronounced the winner of the competition. She gives a heartfelt acceptance speech about women who don’t give up.

Daniela calls Gabriel. He is coming over. He complains about the roach to the desk manager on the way out. The desk manager never promised a Jaccuzzi or international beers in a mini bar. Gabriel just did not want a roach for a roommate. As he gets in his car, Cassandra is taking photos of him and then follows him.

Julieta and Luz chat. Meeting her old boyfriend has started her thinking. Luz agrees to go to the fertility doctor with her.

Daniela walks in and Imelda starts ragging on how alone she is and how she misses Blanca who took care of her so well. Robert and Eugenio arrive next. Eugenio remarks that he is feeling old and useless. He doesn’t know what to do. Blanca didn’t even look at him. Imelda remarks how she never knew that Blanca gave their home such order and balance.

Enzo tells Amalia that he wants to be something more to her. He is attracted to her. They kiss and Blanca and Belén sees them but agree not to say anything to Amalia.

Daniela knows something is going on with Gabriel. She grabs him by the chin and pushes him into the wall ordering him to tell her what is going on. She then tries twisting his arm and threatening to twist it some more with a wrench unless he tells her what is going on. He explains that eventhough they are a couple they also have their own individual things to deal with and he can ake care of this himself. She is not too happy with the answer. He tells her it has nothing to do with her. He just wants her to know he would do absolutely anything to be with her.

Julieta talks to the doctor. The doctor suggests a whole bunch of medical tests so they know exactly what her possibilities of getting pregnant are. She wants to be a mother. He also asks about her emotional state and if she has been to see a pychologiat.

Xavi is in the recording studio with Marisol and Frida being his audience. They stopped off before going to the movies.

Robert calls Julieta. He is cooking dinner. She will fill him in on everything at home.

Xavi talks to Frida about his relationship with her mother. They love each other. The most important thing to both of them is that she is fine. If she gives him permission, he will make her mother very happy, and she will be happy, too. Frida gives Xavi permission.

Daniela wants to discuss the direction of the business with Gabriel. Gabriel cannot get his father telling him he has nowhere to live out of his mind as Daniela talks to him about the the business: designing furniture and designing wooden figures, toys. Daniela asks him if he is still planning on investing some of his money in the business.

Catalina is wildly saging her home. She also wants Bruno away from that Linda Ciórcega.

Bruno and Aristóteles get into it when Aristóteles does not remember who Pablo Neruda was after Bruno has told him several times. Aristóteles reminds Bruno that he Bruno never finished college. It comes out that Aristóteles thought that Bruno was coming over to help him because he thought they were friends. He finds out that is not true. Bruno was told to help Aristóteles because he was "slow".

Robert and Julieta are about to eat supper. She tells him about the orphanage and Dave getting rejected because of his scars. She also tells him about Dave calling her mamá. That is just what Robert was worried about. The doorbell rings. As Robert goes to answer it, Julieta relives Dave calling her mamá and then sees in her mind Ana and Tulio. Tulio tells her if they want to adopt Dave, they will do it. Julieta tells them they won’t because she is Dave’s mother.

So, what did Gabriel do years before that his sisters fear him doing again? Hmmmm. . .

Jarifa, it was definitely a little bit of this and a little bit of that but you got it all! Excellent, thank you!

The roach was funny, but as you pointed out, in plain sight during the day? AND it never went away...too obvious that they were trying to be funny, but I stil enjoyed it. Well, Augusto is tightening the screws; I feel so bad for Gabriel. I too keep wondering what happened years ago.

I'm really glad for Amalia. I thought she was going to rake the announcer over the coals, but she kept her cool. And wow, Enzo really took her by surprise.

Eugenio won't change. I do't blame Blanca for trying to ignore him...and he expected a kiss? QTH? After years of depriving her of any love or appreciation? He's a total macho.

Julieta's thought about Tulio and Ana was somewhat confusing. When did she find out that Audi suggested adoption to Tulio?

More later...

Thanks, RgvChick. It was a nice set-up episode. Nothing too traumatic. I loved Blanca whistling and driving.

I am also confused by how Julieta would know about Tulio and Ana being interested in adopting Dave. We haven’t missed any episodes and a few scenes might have been cut here and there but this? Oh, well. . .

ITA that Eugenio was a real jackass to put it bluntly.

The roach was funny. I found it odd that Gabriel would not have killed it, but then that would have killed the schtick. ; )

Jarifa: Seems that Augusto is hell-bent on destroying Dani.

RVG Chick: I'm betting Gabriel caves & dumps Dani.

Steve, Augusto is hell-bent on destroying his own son. I wonder how far he will go.

I keep waiting for Gabriel’s car to disappear.

Excellent recap, Jarifa! Yep, that is one huge cockroach. I didn't even know they came that big. And obviously Gabe is too terrified of it to even try to kill it. No matter what his father does to him, i doubt very much that he will dump Dani. When she learns he has been dumped by his family, she might decide to do the "noble" thing, though, which would be equally upsetting. Xavi is great with Frida, and so respectful of her feelings. He's the perfect padrastro.

Thanks! SpanProf, yes, roaches get that big and even bigger. Some even fly! Things I have learned at the zoo . . . LOL

Jarifa, thanks much for your great recap. I depend on these a lot. For instance, I totally missed that Gaby's sisters were worried he might repeat whatever it was he did in the past.

This was a fun, but quite confusing episode. I have been waiting for Blanca to get pulled over and asked for her license. Nobody ever thought to ask her if she should be driving without a license? She didn't know you need a license to drive on public streets?

I agree with RGV Chick, and I'm glad she asked about it, that it was a bit confusing that Julieta imagines Tulio and Ana trying to adopt Dave. I wondered if Univision had cut something or if Julie was being clairvoyant, or...

OTOH, this TN just loves to end a night with a cliff hanger of some sort.

Gabriel. Sigh. He should be a bit more honest with Dani. He is in trouble and should let her know before she starts spanking him (though he might just like that :)

But how could he not have any money at all in his own name other than 500 pesos in his wallet?

Enzo coming on to Amalia? Wow! That's a shocker. Kinda nice though.

Andy, you are welcome. I vote for “clairvoyant”.

Thanks Jarifa!!!

I'm worried Gabi may have tried to hurt himself after his mother died. If so, his father is playing with fire. I understand why Gabi doesn't want to tell Dani the truth but he is going to have to do it. I think he is worried about looking weak in her eyes. Poor guy. He needs to get his resume out there and look for a job like Juli told him to.

Amalia and Enzo? Don't believe it but I'm glad she has found some happiness. Now maybe she will allow her sisters to find some too.

Bruno was mean to poor Ari. That's not going to help his confidence at all.

Nice to hear Imelda realize how vital Blanca is to her and the house. Super mad at Eugenio for saying she should come home and clean etc. like a good wife. That is exactly why she left you big dope!

Must admit I find Xavi and Mari boring.

Carvivlie, "Super mad at Eugenio for..." Yeah, for what you mentioned and a whole lot more.

I like Eugenio, but how did he change so much from those early days, where we are shown him courting Blanca, bringing her pastries and love letters, to constantly ragging on her for losing Juan Pablo (which was totally and completely unfair)?

Jarifa, thanks for another very good recap. Appreciate you and RGVChick keeping us up to date each day, especially with all the significant events going on in recent capitulos.

I couldn't help smiling at the motel clerk's surprise that Gabi wanted more than a few hours rental and that he was alone. Seems like roaches weren't the only questionable thing at that motel.

Change is hard to come for Eugenio and Imelda. Imelda is so used to Blanca not only working but keeping her mama-suegra entertained during the day.

Andy, it sounds like he changed overnight. He took all of his pain out on Blanca---for so many years! And then he turned into the stereotypical traditional husband. The wife is there to clean, iron, cook and take care of the kids without complaint or opinion.

Thank you for the recap, Jarifa!

So much goes over my head because my listening comprehension is so poor, that I completely missed the comment about whatever Gab did years ago. Hmmm…… I wonder what that was? Inquiring minds want to know.

Poor Gab with the roach in his hotel room. Welcome to how the 99% lives, dude, bless your heart!

”I keep waiting for Gabriel’s car to disappear.”
That, and his cell phone to stop working.
It’s really sad to someone his age with daddy still paying all his bills. Time to grow up and stand on his own two feet.

I loved the sisters’ reaction when they saw Enzo & Amalia kissing! I'm so happy Amalia won the competition!!!

”Julieta realizes now that she is missing something in her life and she knows what it is.”
It’s la llamada de los ovarios!

doris, you are welcome. “La llamada de los ovarios.” Love it!

You are welcome, LaPaloma. Great to see you! Yup, that is a real “no tell” motel.

La Paloma - "Imelda is so used to Blanca not only working but keeping her mama-suegra entertained during the day." Imelda by now has gotten on my last nerve. !Ya basta! She reminds me of Jabba the Hutt, sitting around giving orders, expecting everyone to kowtow to her wishes and 'needs' like she runs the place. Pfffft!

Doris, “Janna the Hutt” great comparison and so true!

Andyvand Carbivlie, i agree with your comments about Eugenio, but I also blame Jabba/Imelda for instilling and encouraging that attitude. Julieta called it when she told Imelda she was a “man.”

Thanks, Jarifa. Terrific job.

You all make the best comments. Glad to get caught up.

She gives the paperwork the policeman gave her to Robert. She leaves completely ignoring Eugenio.

You go, Blanca! Will Mi Marido end with a divorce instead of a wedding? I get the impression that after Eugenio, years ago, made that strawberry crack about Blanca not deserving them because of losing JP that his harboring feelings of blame against her went much more subtle, under the surface, so much so that the kids (nor I, for that matter) noticed. When I used to see Eugenio working at the bakery with Blanca, he always seemed so happy to have her by his side, not so much to have another worker be but to be in her company.

Gabriel goes in and gets a room for cash but is grossed out when he sees a cockroach marching around in full view (and may I mention, in full light).

Yikes, how many will crawl out after nightfall!

Marisol sees it as a lost cause trying to convince somebody to leave the person they love.

Truer words were never spoken.

Diana, I hope everythink is okay and you're back to commenting soon

Yes Diana, I second Niecie, hope all is well with hubby and hope you are back on the patio soon!

I will “third” Niecie. Diana is missed on the patio.

Jarifa: It'll be interesting to see if Gabriel's Daddy ups the ante even further by having someone kidnap Dani.

I mean, I know this a sorta a comedy TN & all, but that's what they said about "Hasta El Fin Del Mundo" before Daddy Peralta turned it into a bloodbath...

We'll see if Daddy Musi goes that far soon enough. I've heard speculation they've given this TN a 2nd Season. Is that true ?

Yes, this is getting a second season. . . . Sometime.
