Did Meche complain to Kimberly that she traded Crisantos in for a new model with Juanjo (which would be the right thing to do, right? Or should she continue whoring with your cheating husband?). Or did she say that he traded her in for a younger model. Both work. Either way beware of Meche when she feels the least bit slighted…she reeks of emotional abuse.

Juanjo’s only crimes are that he drank (too much and drove recklessly)) and smoked a joint (his body and he's an adult) and for that he's been beaten and hospitalized multiple times, lives in a quasi-exile state, and half the town hates him.

Meche, Crisantos and Dimas walked into the kitchen looking like hypoctites in front of Paloma, Aurora and Serena. The daughters, recently criticized by their parents, are currently sinless but each parent is guilty of something and all have harmed Juanjo. Entonces si, Paloma, Juanjo esta salado - por tu familia.

I thought Natalia and Susan were bffs.

It wasn’t until Emelito was passed around like a football that I realized there isn’t a maid or nanny in either home. Just blue-collar workers and grape pickers.

Juanjo is really deluded about Cris. If he only knew how often Cris curses his existence. And Meche defended him like a patriot. Even when his infractions were against her. What is the reward for this type of pure selflessness?

I can’t tell if Roberto is angry bcuz he truly loves Aurora or bcuz she’s interfering with his sinister plans to embezzle and sabotage. Or both.

This is the first time I’ve seen anyone read bible scripture on a novela.

If novela rules require that at least one of our suspects is guilty, I’m guessing it’s Roberto. Did he hire guys to beat up Juanjo. And did the control freak really go to the scene of the crime to make sure the goons showed up?

Re your opening question, I think Meche told Kimberly that Kimberly had traded Crisanto in for a newer model (Juanjo). And that fits in well with Kimberly's later statement to Leo. She gives Leo the car keys to give to Cris, and she says to tell Cris that the car is outside and that "I'm not for rent, much less for sale." (I love how perplexed Leo is by all this. He's apparently the only one of the Casteñedas who doesn't yet know about his father's relationship with Kimberly and Cris's having given her un regalito of a new sports car).

Interesting point about there not being a maid or a nanny in either home. Of course, the novela is supposedly taking place in California, not Mexico. In Mexico, even middle-class families often have domestic help, but in California, that's not so much the case.

Juanjo may not know the depths of hatred Cris has toward him because of Emilio's death, but Juanjo does know that if Cris or Dimas had attacked him, he'd have recognized them even through a mask. Hence Juanjo's certainty that they weren't the ones who beat him up.

I find it hard to believe that Roberto loves anyone except himself. I think your second explanation for Roberto's anger is closer to the truth, but there's also his very strong jealousy (which I think in his case has more to do with egoism than with love). He can't stand the fact that Aurora still cares for Juanjo. And when Roberto and Aurora seem to kiss and make up near the end of the episode, there's a close-up of Roberto's profile that casts doubt on his feeling love.

I too think that Roberto is likely behind the attack on Juanjo. Juanjo says it wouldn't have been Roberto because he's a coward, but even cowards--or especially cowards--can hire thugs to do their dirty work. The only thing that gives me pause is that the security camera caught him on tape driving in the neighborhood shortly before the attack. That seems too obvious, but perhaps it will simply show how skillful he is at providing a plausible explanation. He's a snake.

Changing the subject a bit, I don't know what to make of Cándido.

yes, Meche was on the attack with Kim, accusing her of upgrading, good observation on the no maid, these people are from the dirt that grows their wine and do the big family approach, does seem a little too much that Meche does all of the cooking, or no one eats.

Nat was upset Susan let Cris and Dimas go, "I thought we were best friends", and as she storms out Susan tells her I am your best friend because I always tell you how it IS.

I think with Rob it's all about control, something he is having trouble with, with everyone else.

I'm not decided on if it was Rob that had Juanjo beaten, his acts of revenge have been so far too childish, so maybe there is something else going on that we don't know as yet, he did tell Susan that he noticed a black SUV with tinted windows and figured he better leave, but there is the thing with Anita, some secret they are sharing.

Anita, who won't be going on their second honeymoon with Luis because of the Juanjo thing, and is stopped again from starting a family.

loved the way Leo dropped off the keys of Kim's sporty car to Cris in front of the whole family, and Cris had to just sit there in his humiliation.

Candido seems innocent enough and should be eternally grateful for what Juanjo did for him in prison and he saved Juanjo more than once, but when Susan was interrogating him, he was back to his fidgety nervous self like he is using again, interesting the part where he was caught stalking his daughter, he just wanted to see her, can I talk to her?, nope, you are dead to her.

Well, the good news is that Serena passes the sumiller exam, and so too, miraculously, does Juanjo, in spite of his broken ribs and broken arm and (according to the doctor) the possibility of endangering his life. The doctor tells Paco and Juaquín that Juanjo has a hematoma in his kidney, and any movement could make it bleed. If that happens, he could die. (Apparently no one has told the doctor that Juanjo is this telenovela's galán, and thus he can't die, and certainly not this early in the novela.)

The bad news is that Juanjo's life may indeed be in danger, but not from the physical exertion of taking the exam. We see Cándido kidnapped by thugs and brought to a place where he meets the thugs' boss, who is in a wheelchair. The next time we see Cándido, he's visiting Juanjo in the hospital and congratulating him on passing the exam. Quite possibly he's been ordered by Wheelchair Boss to go see Juanjo. Very soon after Cándido leaves Juanjo's hospital room, Juanjo gets a phone call from an unnamed person telling him that "the beating was just a greeting," and that "you're going to pay me everything. See you soon." Juanjo reports this to Susan. She comes back to tell him that they've traced the call to the prison where Juanjo was, but there's no obvious person there who would have made the call. The most likely person would have been Ivan, but Susan has learned that after spending a year in the hospital, Ivan died and is buried in Guanajuato. Hmmm... My guess is that he's alive in a wheelchair.

Near the end of the episode, we see Juaquín offering Cándido a place to sleep, a job, and the possibility of eating with the family. All because Juanjo has said Cándido is a good person. Uh oh.

One other interesting development is that Aurora insists that Roberto see a therapist to help deal with his insane jealousy. He agrees to do so, and he makes an appointment. Anyone want to take bets on how successful this will be?

Looks like I pegged the wrong gal to be cahoots with Rob. I thought it was Kim but it turns out to be Anita. So there's a back story between those two that needs to unfold.

So...the hospital catches the hematoma in Juan's kidney but not the abrasion on Emilio's spleen that lead to his death. Go figure. And now, with every interaction, Juan's life could be in jeopardy. Maybe he will get into a fight with Rob and Chris...and die....and they get blamed for his death...despite the hematoma. I know it won't happen.

Did I see Juaquin have a heart to heart with Merche about their familes' joint history? Did this resonate with her....didn't look like it. If not now, I'm sure it will come to play in the future when she learns....all too late....what a snake Rob is.

Overall, Merche is annoying. I still think she would have allowed the argument between Rob and Aurora to lead to violence.....if Chris hadn't intervened. Her old school thinking has not helped her keep her man from straying. I'm glad Aurora has more self esteem or strength to tell Rob to shape up....or ship out.

Halimacandy, I really enjoy your comments. Just one thing--you wondered whether it was the crooked cop who was the jail enemy who made the call. He's certainly a jail enemy, but the call was traced to the prison where he used to be. He's now in a different prison (this time as a prisoner, not a guard), so it probably wasn't him. I suppose he could have gotten someone at the old prison to make the call, but my money is on Ivan, who supposedly is dead. I think he's alive and was the person in the wheelchair that Cándido saw when he was kidnapped. My prediction record is generally pretty awful, but I'll stick with this one for a while. At least until tonight's episode. :-)

yep, the writers weren't telling us the whole Juanjo beat down story, the Anita/Roberto connection so far seems innocent enough, and take off that apron Leo, only women do the cooking in this house, and he is together with Sofi because it's kind of expected of him, but he tells Paloma he wants some time to find himself, so who was that other guy at Cris's dinner table that acted like family.

Congrats to Juanjo and Serena for passing their test, but wait, there is a second test ??, oh and that kiss, it was just caught up in the moment, it was?, Juanjo asks.

the actors playing Serena and Roberto are a couple in real life.

Thanks to those who responded to my previous post and answered a few questions i had. I watched this episode sin subtitulos...the english substitles never work which forces me to truly be a Spanish student.

I'll be quick and just say that i actually like Juango and Serena together. They have a history and a bond that they both need right now. And she's much better for him than troubled Kimberly. But of course he belongs to our boring protagonist Aurora, Serena's bff, which usually means he's off limits. so whatever happens it won't last. it will, however, be the next phase of problems between the 2 sides in this novela. Hope she's not hurt by Juanjo's enemy.

As others have mentioned Meche is hardcore old school and it is oh so annoying. I couldnt belive the 3 hypocrites (Cris, Meche, Dimas) initial refusal to congratulate Serena. Dimas lost major points with that one. He speaks of Cris as if he's their lord who they owe everything to. He and Meche are the same...both defending their lord. I sure hope he never has a love interest. However It wouldnt surprise me if down the line (if Cris dies or they separate) a newly-awakened Meche hooks up with Juanjo's granddad.

I also think Ivan faked his death and is using Candido. He probably is using Candido's daughter as leverage.

So is Leo a cross-dresser. Something is going on there.

What's to become of Kimberly now that she's no longer a mistress. Business associate is to boring for someone like her. I initially thought she'd be the victim of the first murder mystery.

In tonight's episode, Cándido was apparently kidnapped again by the thugs and brought to their hangout. It's clear that they want him to get work with Juanjo's family, report on what's happening, and perhaps get some of the thugs employed there as well. I think they threaten to hurt his daughter if he fails.

We see Juanjo at a shooting range practicing with a pistol.

Things get a bit warmer between Paco and Paloma. When the photographer Paco needed to take pictures for his wine business crumps out, Paloma offers her services, letting Paco and Mike know that in another life she was a professional photographer. Paco agrees, and he likes the photos she has taken. She, in turn, likes sneaking glances at him as he changes his shirt. Viewerville also likes this! Later, as she looks for something in her purse, a joint falls out. Paco says not to worry, he used to smoke them when he was younger. She offers to share this one. He accepts her offer. They seem to be enjoying the buzz when Natalia comes along and asks "What's that smell?"

Roberto's therapy doesn't seem to be working all that well. He feels jealous and suspicious of just about every male he encounters. He's also sure that Aurora has lied to him about where she'll be. He's sure she's going to the Monteil wine event. He drives there, parks his car, and sees Aurora and Juanjo kissing. Oops, he looks again and there's no one there. Apparently, he hallucinated the scene with Aurora and Juanjo. While he's sitting in the car in a state of crazed panic, Serena passes by on her way out, sees him, and asks why he's there. We don't hear him answer, we just see him give her a crazed look.

Cándido is working at the Monteil wine event, and so too are two of the thugs. we see them replace a case of wines with one that's been altered. Cándido overhears them say that this next part of the event will make Ivan happy: the serving of poisoned wine as (or with?) dessert. Juanjo looks for Cándido and tells him he's needed. Juanjo also takes out a bottle of wine from the doctored case. Cándido "accidentally" knocks it over. It breaks, and wine pours out. Juanjo is about to clean up the mess when he sees foam coming from the bottle. "What's this foam doing here?" he asks. This is how the episode ends. My guess is that Serena's having seen Roberto in his car at the event may make it seem as if he had something to do with the poisoning, if the poisoned wine is indeed served.

thank so much Juanita for your little recaps !! (somehow I scrolled past your one for Tuesday and didn't see it till later, and last night the tv signal was choppy so I was only able to get pieces).

and I always enjoy your comments Halimacandy.

the only real solution for Candi is to spill, more than just a bottle of wine, and praying that only he will be hurt isn't going to get it, he's really betraying his only friend Juanjo, and not being in prison if he gave Juanjo a heads up they could do a quiet sting till Susan can pounce on them all for good.

Aurora told Rob she was going to another winery for the tasting and I don't recall seeing her there at Montiel's, was she?

I don't have a problem blaming Rob for the poisoned wine, (lock him up while Aurora runs free) I think the only way his therapy is going to work is if they include some horse tranquilizers.

deb, I loved your comments! You're right--Candi needs to spill more than a bottle of wine. But his fear of bringing harm to his daughter may prevent this, at least for a while.

When Aurora called, she said she was at the bodega San Merino, or something like that, and she invited Rob to join her because some people want to meet him. So that's probably where she has been all this time. I don't recall seeing her at the Monteil event except in Rob's hallucination.

I might add that in lasat night's episode we also saw more of Leo's unhappiness with his life. He tells one of the soccer players that he doesn't want to play any more (and goes after the guy when he says something nasty that I didn't catch). He says he played soccer not because he liked it but because his father did, and his father wanted Leo to play in part because Emilio played, and now Leo has to take Emilio's place in his father's life. He recalls his father also saying that soccer was super macho. I think that recollection prompts Leo to toss his trophies onto the floor.
