Caer en Tentacion #63, 1/17/18: Will the Real Gun Thief Step Forward, Please?

Sorry for the late post, yesterday was crazy. I had a pet emergency, my kitten has a UTI (and a heart murmur!) and we had to rush him to the vet, in addition to that it was my step dads 72nd birthday and by the time the day was over I was DEAD. Below is your recap!

  • Santiago is arrested, the bullet fragments belong to a gun owned by his dad, a gun that Santiago insists has never left his house, but it looks like it has and he is headed to the big house.
  • Andres takes Raquel home, Cinthia says she will take care of her sister and make sure she gets better. Raquel's doctor thinks it would be a good idea for her to be in a hospital where she can rest and where they can control the environment and make sure nothing upsets her.
  • Raquel is put to sleep and later Mia visits with her, Raquel keeps calling for Santiago who she says only wants to take care of her.
  • Cinthia tells Fede that they need to stick together in order to help Raquel, Mia, again makes everything about herself and accuses them of excluding her and not thinking about her and her feelings.
  • Miriam shows up with a doctor and a notary, she wants to certify that Raquel is in no condition to take care of the corporation and she wants to take the kids with her- uuuuh  Fede and Mia are like 18 now, no? Fede says no and Mia does not give an answer when Miriam asks her to leave with her.
  • Miriam is a b*tch.
  • Rueda tells Miriam about the loan Santiago got from Damian, he claims the loan was never paid.
  • Laura is digging for news and wants Antonio to spill the beans, he refuses to and tells her to go fly a kite, she can always continue to make up fake stories and slander people- she's really good at that. Laura wants to know if Godoy misses her or if he's seeing someone new.
  • Dude, if Laura were my wife and I finally got rid of her I'd be so traumatized that I would never date again, ever.
  • Antonio keeps asking Santiago if he killed Carolina or if he knows who took the gun and...
  • That's when we are introduced to Agustin's cousin, Florencia, who starts working for Santiago and Carolina as a nanny. I find it odd that they introduce her to us now, especially when Antonio and Santi are trying to remember who else had access to his house!
  • Damian wants to buy Carolina a car so she and Beni won't have to take cabs, yes, I'm sure Santiago would think it totally normal for another man to buy his wife a car.
  • Damian is dumb.
  • In the present Sami tells Mia that Alina is going to backstab Santiago, he tells her that she should tell Nicolas that Alina will be helping her grandmother get Benjamin
  • Cinthia tells Raquel that Santiago is in jail- they are accusing him of killing Carolina.
I don't trust Alina, she has no morals and I think it's a grave mistake for Santiago to continue to trust her, hopefully he'll see the light soon. Oh and Juan tells Nicolas that Lola is pregnant and that the baby belongs to Bebo.

Comments:
If Raquel found the gun in the present, she may have hidden the gun someplace secure in Santiago's house so that Benjamin couldn't find it.

I bet they will find that either a) the gun in question is NOT Santiago's father's gun and / or B) Santiago's fingerprints are not on the gun.

Because if it's really Santiago's dad's gun and/or his fingerprints are found on it, Santiago goes to jail and the story is over.

Sami has told Mia about Alina's plan to tank Santiago's case. Will she tell Nico? She should, so that Benjamin will not be coming home with Miriam.

Aren't Fede & Mia of age? So how can Miriam compel them to come live with her?

I don't think Andres killed Carolina & injured Damian because it was of no benefit to him, as far as I could see. Andres was free to embezzle from Legato as long as Damian was alive because he could blackmail him. With Damian out of commission, Miriam/the police/Laura can investigate Legato's finances and hold people accountable.

Plus Andres is too well groomed to physically be carrying out murders. He never has a hair out of place and is always dressed to the nines. Bopping Damian upside the head with a shovel and having to do manual labor like digging shallow graves? Not for our Andres. He always could've had someone do it for him but again, it was to Andres' benefit to have Damian alive and blackmailable so he could continue embezzling from Legato.

Because of the financial shenanigans at Legato, it's in Raquel's best interests to let Miriam snatch control of the company away from her. Raquel just needs to fight to make sure Damian's accounts are available to her at all times. Let Miriam & Andres go to jail for all the fraud at Legato.

Great analysis, Anon207. I left some similar thoughts on the last two comments on Episode #62.

Still, I feel Santiago will be in jail for some time--all telenovelas have someone spend time in jail/prison.

Yes, very thoughtful observations Anon207.

I am wondering why and how Sami found out about Alina throwing the case. I don't see Rueda and Sami sitting down having a warm, father/son chat over a few beers...could it be possible that Rueda has a shred of conscience and told Sami knowing full well he'd spill the beans? Or did he do it for a few atta boys?

Does Sami know daddy wants Alina gone and this is the cherry on the sundae to make her leave? Will he be or is he happy or sad to see her go?

If Mia keeps silent now, she is a monster. I'm really afraid for Lola. No one should ever have gone through what she's had to endure already. She sadly is her mother's daughter.

Diana

Diana--Quick Answer--Rueda DID bring Sammie into a conversation about ruining Alina for what she did to Sammie AND himself. Sammie agreed to help him.

Anita, thanks. I remember that (a bit) but I thought that was going to be a case of them banding together to get her victims to come forward, trying to do it the right way. I'm too gullible, right??

This is something different (well, at least to me, perhaps not to them). I wondered if the fact an innocent child was going to suffer as a result had pricked their conscience.

Diana

Diana--You always want to see the good side, even of bad people. I admire that in you. I think it may only be a plot point that Sammie has told Mia. I don't think either of them really care about Benji.

Mia, though, is very much into revenge of any kind, so this might be right down her alley. She did not like the fact that Nico was "doing things" with Alina and this might be her chance at revenge.

Mia should WANT Benjamin to stay in the custody of the Alvarados, that's why she should tell Nico & Lola. Getting in the good graces of Nico would only be a plus. The only negative would be if/when Miriam finds out.

If Alina is found out to be tanking her clients' cases for cash, she'll probably lose her license and Miriam/Rueda wouldn't pay her the cash OR they WOULD pay her the cash as evidence (because they will have told the police about Alina).

I was hoping either Fede or Cinthia would catch Mia at Raquel's beside and get her away from Raquel. I realize Mia is mentally ill but her harassing an obviously un-well Raquel about loving Damian & being with Santiago was too much.

I think Juan will beat Lola up and cause her to lose the baby. Lola's problems, like her mother's, are largely of her own making.

I agree that Santiago won't get out of jail right away, however, I developed the theory that if Alina is not intending to betray him she could the money Miriam will give her to pay his bond. There's no why she's gonna ask for a small amount and the bond will likely be pretty high given the crime Santi is accused of. Even if the fingerprint results are possibly revealed in the next few episodes and they're not his, keeping Santi in jail will buy Alina time to sort that out. She's perfectly capable of playing just as dirty as Rueda/Miriam.

Although I didn't think it'd be her "strategy" of sorts I'm not surprised that Carolina is uncomfortable with Damian being around Benjamin. To save her own skin she's gonna keep pretending that Santiago is the father.

I noticed that Florencia had googly eyes for Santiago.

It's definitely more likely that Andres could be the mastermind but not the actual murderer. I never really thought Miriam could be the mastermind. We need more clues.

I'm starting to think that Miriam belongs in the ranks with Catalina Creel and Ursula Santibañez. She and Andres are still my main suspects.

Miriam and Rueda were in the Álvarado house for discussion regarding the custody case. There was some brief period of time – less than thirty minutes – when she was alone in Santiago's room with Benjamín, who doesn't yet talk that much and doesn't know the word for “gun.” She had adequate time to locate it and put it in her purse, leaving its case behind. She didn't argue much with Santiago when he insisted she leave. She got what she wanted out of that visit.

How well-known is the crime scene? Considering how Laura never keeps her nasty mouth shut about anything anyone would know where the crime scene was. Even if Miriam wasn't involved in the crime in the first place, I can see her framing Santiago for this. What's worse is that Mia could be her accomplice.

Princess--It's never too late to read one of your sharp, belly-skewering recaps. So sorry about your kitten, so happy for you that your step-dad had a 72d birthday! Long life to him.

Urban--good call. I'd forgotten about that visit. Gotta add her onto the list of potential gun thieves.

Yeah, how about that Florencia. It's only now we get to see her? By the time of the accident and forward, she's GONE. She's cute, though. Probably spells trouble for either Santi or Nico.

Princess Juju thank you for the post. So sorry about your cat, and Happy birthday to your step dad. My dad turns 71 on Monday.

Diana: What Sammy said was that he overheard his father have a conversation an that is how he found out.

Urban: Never thought about Miriam being in Santi's room good one. Now what I need is a timeline to show when things happened. This TN is starting to confuse me.

So Mia's got a choice between helping Benji remain with Nico and Lola or go to Miriam, where the little tyke would surely usurp her position with grandma.

Always thought Godoy was guapo, but last night he flashed a big smile (don't remember why) and I noticed his dimples for the first time. Such a shame he's attracted to the wrong women.

I'm convinced Santi didn't do it -- he's not the type to calculate and plot.

Thank you Anita and Sandy, Lil E is on antibiotics and should make a full recovery, my step dad had a good meal last night and cake and balloons!

Thanks, Princess Juju. Happy Birthday to your dad! Glad your kitten is okay. You are a sweatheart to fit in a recap amidst such a hectic day.

So now we've got Florencia and she's clearly taken by shirtless Santi. No idea what will happen, but Flo seems nosy to me. If she sees Caro and Dam together, my guess is her radar will go off.

Gracias, Juju, and I hope your kitten gets better fast. I have two kitties and know what you're going through.

It will be interesting to see what comes of the upcoming unholy alliance of Mia and Sammy. I also hope that Alina is only playing Rueda or that both will realize what Miriam is really up to. Rueda should know her well enough by now to know she is not out for Benjamin's best interests and that this is all about hurting Santiago, his family, and Raquel.

Does Juan really think that Bebo is the father of Lola's baby or is he trying to force ad admission that he is? Either way I think he will learn the truth soon and make a lot of trouble.

Good for Federico to call Mia out on her BS. More people should do this.

I ask again, if anyone knows this, does the Mexican press actually behave like Laura and her boos do? How does anyone's rep survive the kind of libel she vomits up?

Thanks, PrincessJuJu. Excellent. Yes, life does get in the way of our blogging sometimes.I really needed this because I missed it last night.

Florencia is in the present; they discussed calling her over to watch Benjamin and the past scenes were to show exactly who Florencia is.

Has Laura really advanced at that station in the past 3 years? Because it seems she's going through a lot (losing her child, losing her husband) for the sake of her job but I don't see where she's getting that great of a return.

Godoy is fine. He was probably smiling hard at the thought of locking Santiago up for good.

Thank you princess juju.I like short recaps Cuz this comment is late.
Miriam is a bitch for sure.
Damian is really Stupid to think buyin
Another man's wife a car is a good idea. There are many reasons why he's in A coma. Being stupid is right At The Top. After that Every thing else he's Done landed him where he is. Well People can Be so stupid.

Ok who we talkin about here?Nut job to
The third power.

Ok almost time for the sickcos.
Thank you princess.

Anon207--I defer to your greater powers of recall. Florencia is in the present, just barely. I wonder how big an impact she will have on the rest of the story.

Nina--You always get the last words and they are always a perk-me-up and make me think.

Note: I'm tired tonight. The recap will be up tomorrow sometime. It was a complicated episode. I'll leave a headliner for those of you who have to get something off your chest right away.

I also have a mouse problem tonight, not my electronic apparatus, but the grey-coated, four foot kind. Argghhh.

Princess Juju, thank you for the excellent recap. You manage to always make me smile despite the grim content.

I hope your fur child feels better! Poor little guy.

I join the chorus in wishing your stepfather a happy birthday.

Your Miriam is a (beyotch) was spot on as was "Damian is dumb".

"I noticed that Florencia had googly eyes for Santiago" - yes, most of us noticed that :)

Sandie, thank you for letting me know Sammie overheard his father. I was really wonderfing about that.

Diana
