Caer en Tentacion #78/79, 2/6/18: Choose Or Lose; More Accusations and Recriminations

[This is #78 as Jardinera got to see it - what was broadcast of #79 follows at the end.]

  • Damian, eyes wide open, listens to Santiago's threats to make him pay for all the harm he's done his family, not least of which is killing his unborn child in the carwreck and taking away Benji.  Dam's vitals go haywire from angst and the med staff races in along with Raquel at that point.  Santi and Raq are shooed out.
  • Santi asks what's to become of them now that Dam's awake.  Raq admits she's torn and must take care of her family first.  He tells her he'll wait till the dude gets well, then he'll give the guy what he deserves.  He leaves the hospital totally depressed.

  • Mia reports back to Federico that Santi came to the hospital.  She tries to claim Santi stole from her papi again; Fede explains it never happened that way and  Papi only invested and nothing more.  (Ok. So Mia wasn't a business major in college.  Fede really needs to remind her of this.)
  • Nicolas is worried about the safety of his sister since she's had her name mentioned in connection with Pati's and the narcotrafficantes.  Alina swears she's going to be protected and fine--something Viewerville knows is certain to be 180 degrees out.
  • Antonio pays a visit to Laura at the studio to ask for her details on Miguel Villegas.  They will make the case go faster.  She tells him to check with Santi's daughter who is up to it to her eyeballs if he wants answers.
  • Santi gets home and finds Lola crying her eyes out.  She finally admits to him that she's lied to him all these years.  She explains how she was talked into easy money by hanging around Pati with men who liked messing around with younger girls, and they'd pay for their class trips.
  • Andres informs Rueda that the news has now involved Lola with the narcotrafficantes and that he gave the information to the reporter himself.  They just need to strategize how to keep him and his name clear of this scandal.  Alina shows up at Legato.  Rueda says he invited her as she's got some great ways for Andres to keep himself clear of legal troubles.  "--It's quite expensive.  How much are you willing to invest to guarantee your freedom?"
  • Mia is trying to persuade Nico to visit her at the house.  He's going home to comfort his sister since her name was in the news and she's in danger.  Grammy Miriam arrives with Benji.  Mia only has to tell him Benji's there and Nico comes running.
  • At the hospital again, Raq mentions to the sleeping? Dam that she doesn't know how he'll ever justify the harm he's caused everyone around him.  Then she tells him they've found his fingerprint on the gun that killed Carolina. "--Did you kill her?"  He suddenly opens his eyes again.  Raq and Viewerville are all freaked out by that eerie eye-opening thing he does.
  • Raq is now upstairs with the boys and Mia and Lola and wants an explanation. Lola tells her flat out that Mia the Mental Case has accused her of sleeping with Dam.  The girl's sick and now she's making this crap up and it's all in her head and a bunch of crazy lies!
  • At los Alvarado, Florencia finally tells them she heard Mia accuse Lola of sleeping with Damian and that she and her brother raced off to Mia's place.  Caro and Santi both start wondering if it is true--but for very different reasons.  Santi gets hot under the collar thinking that's why he was so anxious to have the girl work at his company despite Santi's macho misgivings and drives off to Raq and Dam's to face Dam over it.  Caro calls Azucena who immediately advises her that's nuts and Mia didn't really see what she thought she saw.  No, Dam is in no way involved with her daughter.
  • The girls fight over who's lying and who's sick.  Mia looks and sounds like she's drugged not to mention she should have been put into a straight jacket ages ago.
  • Dam arrives home and learns from Fede about the argument upstairs.  He races upstairs and enters just as Mia accuses Raq of taking Lola's side and being blind to the fact that she's been sleeping with "your husband".  Ruh-rohhhhh!!  He demands to know what she's just said and why.  She repeats it and believes it.  He comes unhinged.  How could she spread trash like that?  It's no wonder people cannot stand to be around her.  (So that's why she had to change schools?)  How could she begin to think such disgusting thoughts about her own father like that--that he'd sleep with children????  She won't be convinced.  Major Mia eye roll here.  Lola leaves and Raq wants to put the discussion off.  She wants to make excuses for Mia.  Dam says nothin' doin'.  It ends right here right now!
  • Raq goes downstairs with Lola.  She sees Santi and the boys arguing.  Lola denies it to Santi and he doesn't want to believe that.
  • Dam gives Mia an ultimatum to stay the heck out of other people's lives.  He races downstairs and Santi is ready for fisty-cuffs.  Nico and Lola rush him out of the house and explain it's all a misunderstanding.  It never happened!
  • They get home and Caro compares notes with Santi and they all calm down.
  • Mia calls Abue Mimi to come for her.  That Alvarado family is going to destroy them all!
  • Downstairs, Raq accuses Dam of doing the dirty deed.  He tells her she's crazy and they're through if she truly doesn't trust he would not mess around with children (like your cuz, Andy, right?)
  • In Laura's hospital room, she again refuses to take responsibility for refusing treatment and blames the doc for her bum leg.  Godoy comes in to tell her he quit his job for her.
  • Caro calls Dam and begs him again to leave her and the family alone.
  • In Andres' office, Alina's suggestion is to give Pati's mama justcia by blaming the death on Miguel.  Andy testifies and there then won't be a need for charges against him.   The press will get their villain and he'll be free of any charges and so it goes.... Andres is impressed and very happy to go along with that.
  • Mia overhears a squeamish Mimi asking forgiveness for mistreating them and trying to end Dam's life.  It was done out of love and hating to see him live like a vegetable the rest of his life.  Now there's no possibility of that, so please know she loves him and wants him to run her company some day.....Suspiciously, Fede asks what made her change her mind towards him and Mom.
  • Antonio visits Santi about Lola and Alina's information.  He's got to have her testify against Mike the Narco.  Santi is worried she won't be properly protected.  He feels guilty already of being a failure at fatherhood with all that's happened.
  • Mia apologizes to Nico for all the crap she's pulled on him and again she loves him.  He goes along to get along.
  • Andres calls Narco Boss to tell him all is now arranged to put the blame for everything solely on Miguel's head.  Narco Boss has Miguel brought to him.  "--Take the blame for all the crap that happened, or you die."  Just bidnez, right?
  • At a sidewalk cafe, Santi again asks Raq what's to become of their relationship now that Dam is awake.  After all the crap he pulled, she won't forgive him, but he's not allowed to make demands on her and her family.  Ok, then choose:  Me or Damian!
#79 Broadcast - El Presente
--Rueda goes to see Alina and tells her not to betray him. If Andres finds out she's not on his side, his buddies will make life very difficult for her.

--Fede comes into Mia's room to take Benji back to Miriam downstairs. At that moment, Alina calls Nico. She wants him at her place, stat. He tells her he's busy with his novia and can't come. She threatens to fire him. He says go ahead and hangs up on her. He tells Mia he loves her. They get busy.

--Miguel is at the police station with Rueda at his side. He swears he didn't kill Patricia. Antonio grins...But Mike gave her a little push, no? The police have her letter with the whole story. Next Ant wants to know why he went to Garrido's pueblo. Mike says the guy kept some money that wasn't his. Ant keeps up the pressure...And what about Vicente? Mike says he doesn't know any Vicente. Ant continues...But he does know an Andres Becker, no? Mike admits to it, but adds that Andres knows nothing about the stuff he's involved in. He won't admit to any connection to the attempt on Damian or the murder of Carolina.

--Santi keeps up his own pressure on Raquel at their outdoor café inquisition. He claims he loves her, but can't stand to see her with Damian. Raq says she's not going to leave Santi. He says that's what she says now. Raq can't abandon Dam right now. She asks him to put himself in her place and it was Caro lying there. He says though he loves her with all his heart, he just can't deal with the situation and leaves her, head hanging down in her hands.

--Andres is snorting some cocaine at the banquet offices. He offers or better said, pushes some on Cintia. She turns him down and tries to get away. [Urban adds: There is a rape scene that was omitted here. When that failed he raped her on the floor, then tossed a small bag of the stuff to her as "your payment." Lots of name-calling.]

--Santi goes home and tells Lola he and Raquel broke up (which isn't really true--he broke up with Raquel).

--In the hospital, Raq talks to a very inert Damian. She tells him, in tears, that she also has a right to a life. Why does she have to be here with him, when he had no regard for her or her life. It's not fair. She wants to leave him but she won't/can't because she's not like him.

--Nico goes to see Alina. He assumes she fired him and asks for a letter of recommendation. Instead, she does an attack-smack on the mouth and seduces him. We know they get busy.

--Miriam and Rueda have a little tete a tete. She's done everything he asked to make peace with the family, but she's afraid of Andres. He threatened her. They have to get rid of him. He's dangerous. [Urban adds: She's starting to suspect he might have had something to do with what happened to Damian.] It's clear to her that Dam found out what Andres was doing to the business and Andres would have wanted to stop him. Rueda says it's one thing to be a thief, another to be a killer. Miriam thinks he's 100% capable. She suggests making him confess.

--Mia comes into the master bedroom looking for Raq. When she can't find her, Fede suggests calling Santi. She won't. Instead, Fede calls Nico and wakes him up. He's in Alina's bed. He sees the blood and tells Fede he'll call him back later. He follows the trail of blood calling out her name. When he finds her, she's all bloody and tells him to go away.

El Pasado
--[Urban adds: Damian had an argument with Miriam about Mia moving in with her.]--Caro puts her foot down. Lola is not going to work at Legato anymore. Y Punto.
--Mimi tells a very passive Mia that she believes her, though she hasn't any real knowledge. She just feels it's true, too (about Lola and Dam). She want Mia to only talk to her. Her parents are blind. They just don't realize the two of them are trying to save the family.

El Presente
--Mia finally calls Santi. He's asleep by himself. He tells her Raq is not with him and no, he's not lying. She hangs up before he can say anything else. [Presumably Santi guesses she must be at the hospital.] Raquel is at Dam's side. She sees him stir. Santi has arrived and watches through the glass as Raquel leans over Damian as he says, "Raquel......mi amor," without opening his eyes.

Thank you, Jardinera. Sure agree about Mia and the strait jacket. Something wrong with Nico, too, putting up with her. Too many loose cannons right now. It is like watching a car wreck.

Thank you Jardinera.
It looks like this episode is actually episode 78 and Uni combined 78/79 because the ending of the episode last night was different.

Gracias, Jardinera. This was the full #78.

If Damian recovers we know that Raquel will probably wait a while before filing for divorce. She would not be a very sympathetic plaintiff if he ends up paralyzed or severely brain-damaged. Nothing was ever said about whether he ever made out a will so it's likely that he never did. Not too unusual for people who aren't rich, but deadly for those who are. If Raquel divorces him Screaming Mimi will do her mudslinging act with Screaming Mia helping her.

It could be years before she could be with Santiago or any other man.

She also needs to stop coddling Mia. That girl has caused so much trouble. I was hoping that Damian would really give her what for in the Pasado scene but in retrospect he couldn't have made her see reason or she would be a more rational person now. Things must have been horrible in Raquel's family of origin for her to not be getting tougher with Mia now.

Thanks Jardinera. I think Uni kept most of 78 but completely chopped 79 so not much of 79 was shown.

I’ll be back later to comment on the episodes.

Thank you Jardinera for your recap.

Most of what you wrote is what I saw. But at the end when Santi returned home and met Lola she knew he was distraught about something and I think he said 'My relationship with Raquel is over/ended' but I am not sure of the actual words used by Santi. I think both Raquel and Santi have realized that they must make decisions first for their children and not for themselves at this point. Probably a good idea. Perhaps Mia's relationship with age appropriate Nico will force her into a less negative view of the world and her place in it. As for Nico he needs to stop with Alina, punto. Fede seems to have matured physically as well as emotionally. He's proving to be a match for both Miriam and Andres.
Between Raquel and Santi's verbal attacks on the bed-ridden Damian, I can't see how he recovers 100%. And what is the point of the police guard at his hospital room if everyone can waltz in and spew their grievances at him? He deserves their contumely and contempt but perhaps not until he recovers.

Oh dear, Jar. How could they do this to you. You are such an inspired writer. Thank you for giving us what you saw. I also thought this was the complete #78. How dare they!

Santi is a hothead and is only thinking of himself. This is the time he should be thinking of Raquel and how she needs his unconditional support. Shame on him.

Because Damian called out Raquel's name and called her mi amor, suggests one thing. My bet is that Dam will probably have selective amnesia and will have forgotten everything before meeting Carolina. Poor Raquel.

"He goes along to get along". Signature Jardinera. Excellent. Thank you.

I was horrified pretty much all the way around last night. Car wreck is right Jarifa.

First, I am taking Damian and Caro's affair out of the equation for my next statement. Mia, her screaming, insanely jealous self bullying Lola beyond boundaries was sickening. And yes, while Damian is a cheater, he does cheat with women. Not children. I was stunned at Raquel's reaction taking her mentally deranged daughter's word?? I can't think of anyone (save Caro's horrible death) who has been savaged more than Lola. It was almost impossible to watch.

I'm glad Lola told her father the truth, as painful as it was for her.

That said, I also am totally flummoxed as to why Nico is with Mia. I'd ask what he sess, but there is nothing to see so there is no answer...He seems to have common sense although obviously none regarding himself. As Sandie noted, the final scenes differed from your ending - I'll simply say he is in them...

There was also a/another scene with Mimi and Rueda where he looked like he was going to get sick. I think it was regarding Andres and perhaps Alina (?) Miriam changing her mind and taking Raquel's side over Andres' was out of the blue and confusing.

I've felt all along that Santi and Raquel were never a good idea and it seems the more we see, their respective ghosts will never be laid to rest. Too much raw pain, too many heartaches. And all this before Dam fluttered his eyelids. Of course Santi is hell bent on wanting Raquel to "pick" him. Damian cost him his life and his son. Can he really take another loss? And I think if Raquel truly loved Santi, she would have told him there is no choice. She loves Santi and will take care of Damian only as he is the father of her children. I think she isn't ready to let go of Dam. Perhaps while he is alive, she never will be.

Diana

Diana--You reminded me of something else. During their break-up coffee session at an outdoor restaurant, Raquel should have taken the opportunity to tell Santi she loved him and only him. They just finished making love and they declared their love to each other. Santi could have used hearing that again.

There was another scene in, I guess #79, where Miguel has been hauled into the police station. He's surrounded by police, with Rueda at his side. I think he was being told that either he pleads guilty and is "safely" behind bars or he'll die at the hands of the narcos. I think he caves to pleading guilty. I'll have to check the episode, though.

I hated the smirk on Laura's face when Ant visited her at the tv station. She boasted having more information on Miguel than he did.

Anita, I have a nagging suspicion that Damian "waking up" changed everything for Raquel. I don't think she wanted it to, but it did. That said, I still don't think she has considered all the possible ramifications.

She is simply in shock. She told Damian she didn't love him but I think that may not be the final word. He said something to her in one of the last scenes (or coming attraction?) that was a game changer, possibly in several ways. I won't comment on that now.

Laura is insufferable, but she likely did have far more info on Miguel. Ant is a good man but does seem to be a step behind.

Diana

Diana--"He said something to her in one of the last scenes (or coming attraction?) that was a game changer, possibly in several ways."

Yes, this was the very last scene where Dam calls out her name and calls her mi amor. That's why I said I bet he has selective amnesia and only remembers things before meeting Carolina--see above in my 12:50 comment. Gotta go. See you all later.

Thanks Anita. Our comments at that time crossed and I didn't see yours when I posted.

Amnesia is exactly what I was thinking...Ack.

Diana

I agree with all the comments pertaining to Raquel and Santi. However, Raquel has to be a little stronger and she has to Pick Raquel over Damian and even her kids. Her kids are adults and will be able to handle her decision (maybe not Mia, but who cares). Pick Raquel. Damian does not deserve her sympathy, and although I agree that Santi and Raquel may not be right for each other at this moment, I also don't think Raquel has any obligation towards Damian. He lied to her, put her last on his priorities list and left her to be with Carol that fateful night. What else does Raquel need to just drop him like an old shoe.

Regarding Raquel/Santiago/Damian I think I've said before that with Carolina dead this is the legitimate love triangle for this story. I agree that eventually Raq will seek a divorce. Her feelings for Santiago are beside the point. Damian maintained an affair for three years and had a child. It wasn't just a fling that lasted a couple months. Damian obviously fell out of love with Raquel at some point within that period. And Raquel is doing the same thing while Damian has been in a coma. The one person that needs to understand that is Mia. Just because Raquel didn't know about it for three years doesn't change the fact that Damian did it. If Mia expects her parents to reconcile, she's wasting her time. And she'd rather blame Raquel than Damian. While it's hard for Fede also, he seems to be slightly more understanding.

I'm guessing at the end of 79 it was Sammy's blood that was on Alina's hands. He likely attempted suicide.

I love that Lola is essentially a daddy's girl. She is emotionally supportive towards her dad with everything he's going through....and viceversa, of course.

This sounds like they left out most of #79, including that:

-- Andres trapped Cinthia at the catering office and tried to tempt her with cocaine
-- When that failed he raped her on the floor, then tossed a small bag of the stuff to her as "your payment". Lots of name-calling
-- Damian had an argument with Miriam about Mia moving in with her
-- Miriam talked with Mia alone about "Only you and I are going to save this family"
-- Miriam told Rueda that she is starting to suspect that Andres tried to kill Damian.

TF--Forgot all about about Nico waking up in Alina's bed and following a trail of blood.

Urban--We did see Andres tempting Cin with a bag of cocaine. Then she tried to get away. We didn't see any of the rape scene.

I do think I remember the scene where Miriam tells Mia that only she and Mia can save the family. Since this was at least two years ago (Benji is born and about 3-6 mos. old, she hasn't done too much until recently.

In fact, both of them have done much toward destroying it.

Anita: Was the Latina Mrs. Robinson murdered ?

How long before Nico gets arrested & charges with murder ?

Jardineraaaaa654! It's gettin good girl. Thank you for this fantastic recap. They should creat a catogory for
Gab's eyes,"The best body part in the supporting roll".They are kinda creepy
I wonder if they had a really good laugh after the director says "cut!?"
The eyes have it.

I want to see Andy go down.
I want to see RUEDA go down.
I want to see mimi the witch go down.
I want to see Mia go down.
And what the hell did alina do? I want to see her go waaaaaaay down.
I want to see crazy Laura go waaay down. Thatz almost half the cast. It's
Gonna be alot of going down. The Anvils
Have it.

Thank Jardinera654.

I hope nobody minds, since it's after the fact, but I'll add a bullet-ridden highlight of what was broadcast from #79. Give me a little time.

Sure go ahead, I'll read it tomorrow.
Good night Anita.

When Damian said "mi amor" he could have been talkin about carolina. Yes he said raquel. He sounded like he knows he got caught with his hand in carolina's business.

Nina, I agree with your latest post, but partial amnesia would actually be realistic at this point.

Do we even know how long Damian has been in the coma? It really annoys me that novelas don't make this easy to figure out.

TF, I loved some of your comments.

"Regarding Raquel/Santiago/Damian I think I've said before that with Carolina dead this is the legitimate love triangle for this story" was something that hit me as it's nothing I'd considered. Very thought provoking. I also agree that Santi's relationship with Lola is touching and real. I think Lola is my favorite character. She has and continues to make so many mistakes regarding herself, yet she has always been kind and loving to others.

Urban, I couldn't make heads or tails of the Andres/Cin scenes, so thank you. I was shocked to see Mimi is considering Andres is the murderer.

"I wonder if they had a really good laugh after the director says "cut!?" Gee Nina, it would be nice to think so but the material is so heavy, I wonder if that's even possible?

Diana

Hi all. Special thanks to Anita and UrbanA for filling in with the 2nd part. I was up last night watching that portion.

Yes, there was a rape scene, as anything with Andres is alway rape. It threw me also as SinCin sounded like she liked it and was in the end a willing participant. Could have been her trying to keep the guy from hitting the crap outta her though. He definitely played on her low to nonexistent self esteem from beginning to end. Who will believe she was raped? She is nothing but a drug addict! I felt her shame and extreme frustration when he threw the packet of coke at her after he left. She fought the urge brilliantly at the end of that scene. Dunno if she really destroyed it or used it though.

I also feel Raq's being pulled in all directions. Life has not been fair to her.

One last thing. I had to turn the volume up since I had no CC. I didn't see the CC's you all did and to me when I looked at the lips and read it seemed he said "Me ama". Maybe it was mi amor. It doesn't really change your input however. Hopefully they clarified last night.

Thank you to the team of recappers that handled the mess Uni has made with 78/79.

Last nigh'ts episode is no exception very choppy. so I am going to take a leap of faith here and assume it was episodes 80/81.

Many of the conversations that are being dropped are important, like Antonio coming over to ask that Lola testify, all we saw was her panicking and did not know she had been asked to testify.

Like Andres throwing the cocaine at Cynthia, that would explain why she is all panicked in the next episode. Anyway they are doing this very well written TN a disservice by chopping it. There is no filler.

Sandie--I agree. My question is, does Giselle Gonzales know this is being done--to viewers all over the States? Does Televisa know and condone it?

I wish the producer and Televisa would include the words in a contract that it can't be cut or altered when first broadcast. They've already agreed to making them shorter (thus tighter and less filler). Remember when 200 episodes was not unusual?

Why does it always have to be about the money?

They all! I am nowhere near caught up but it sucks that this is being edited again! Ahhh! When they did it to MdN, which was only 52 episodes, I was so pissed. Now they do it again.

I remember when they cut the sex scenes in the earlier episodes and, specifically, the scene when Damian masturbates Carolina while Raquel is asleep on his lap...twitter reached out to GG and she stated that while it sucks and she does not condone, there is nothing she herself can do. As for Televisa, I assume they give free reign to Uni in their contracts, as they are the main buyers of their novelas in the states, and, the industry being how it's being, Televisa has little choice but to agree or risk losing their contract and a main exporter of their content. I think their contract was for a while, 20 years (I think), and it came up for renewal last year, but Televisa has little bargaining chips. Now Uni is also airing their own content from W Studios (La Piloto was the first) and they are also exporting brazilian novelas, so they can leave should they want to. I know there are also novelas Univision hasn't even aired, despite having access to it, so it's fair to say GG and Televisa's hands are tied. Sad as hell.

Guess I'm watching the rest of this online because I hate missing important details, especially in a mystery.

If Uni were smart they would at least put the full episodes online or in their app, that way they could entice new customers into getting it if they wanted to see the full episodes without looking for it online (because popups) like they did with MdN. But they don't even offer that choice. Dumb.

Alfredo--So nice of you to weigh in with your knowledge of the industry. I'm glad you are watching this, but sad that you aren't one of our regular recappers-commenters (I know you are elsewhere right now, but just saying.)

How sad for the viewers that DO get invested in these stories (like me--more than I probably should).

Thanks, Jardinera.

Raq is between a rock and a hard place. No way will she get back with Damian. For one thing, if she did she'd always wonder if Dam was thinking "might as well stick with Raquel, since my love Caro is dead and I need somebody to help me recover." Santi needs to show Raq the patience he's showing Lola. Raq was right, Santi would be by Caro's sickbed in a heartbeat.

Wednesday hatchet job was the worst edit I've ever seen. Anita, looking forward to your recap.

Niecie: Raquel is stuck with Damian FOREVER. I'll be amazed if it's revealed that he killed Carolina in the end.

However, my $$$ is still on Andres whacking Carolina.

I hope Santiago makes sure Lola is safe considering Psychopath Juan is out there threatening her & Bebo.

I heard "mi amor" on my tv.

Thank you, Anita! I miss you guys too! Most of the MdN, LC crew is here but alas, I am recapping the comedies lol I hope to finish CET with you guys so I'll see you in a bit :)
