Caer en Tentacion #88/89, 2/13/18: Death and Denial::Let Downs, Take Downs, & Shake Downs

88: Death Succumbs Her

A Chinese firedrill ensues at the worksite where Santiago has fallent about 15 feet off the ladder.  The ambulance comes and loads him up and Carolina meets the kids at the hospital.  He's going to need surgery and a nail put into a fractured leg.

Excited discussions at Legato that Federico overheard makes him surmise correctly that Papi has something on the side he's been trying to hide.  He and Damian go to lunch together.  He walks all around the topic to get a response from Daddy Dam; Dam accuses Fede of accusing him of something untoward.

At the hospital, Carol and Lola confront the head of accounting/insurance agency? about their lack of insurance suddenly now due to a couple of unmade payments.  Caro had no idea and the two females harangue the guy unmercifully.  Caro angrily states she cannot believe that after paying gawd knows how much money to them all these years when they finally need it now they refuse to cover this accident over two missed payments!!  (Yup.  You go, girl!)  When she puts it that way (it sounds like the worst abuse in the world of legalistic bureaucratic power (which I agree, strict Girl Scout that I am, it is) the bureaucrat seems to back down and states that all they have to do is come up with the missed payments and the crisis is over.

In Valle at Lisa's house, unmasked gunmen rush her and her son at the house.  Garrido appears to be one of them.  He threatens Lisa with offing the kid and her if she doesn't race over to Vicente's hospital bed and warn him that he keeps his naco nacho hole shut.

Back at Raquel's, Alina has accused Mad as a Hatter Mia and suicided "victim of circumstance", Sammy The Sicko, of their recent murder attempt of herself.  Ali is backing off reporting it to the police out of respect for Santi--who Jovita just begged to go upstairs to quiet Benja down.  As there will be a huge investigation, knowing the type of attorney Rueda is, she better be prepared for the nasty truth about her sicko daughter.    Raq sneers a "Thankyou, Saniago" for Alina's benefit up at the second floor to nobody in particular and looks back at Ali for further titillating legal tidbits and threats.  Why don't you pay attention to your daughter and to the people she hangs out with or what she's up to? (Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding!  --Viewerville wonders if Ali understands just how many of Raq's buttons she has just managed to push.)   "--Be careful here, Raquel.  Don't try crossing me again or the next time I won't be so considerate of her.  (And, as much as Cougar Queen has her own pile of socially perverse preppies she's felled over the years that need hiding--she does score and Bigtime against Raq.)

Alina is lying according to Raq.  Ali --not to mention Viewerville--frowns, incredulous at Raq's naivete. "--Do you not see the immensity of the situation?  Your daughter tried to poison me!!"  "Lower your tone and your voice!  You stand there accusing an adolescent of a crime after you, an adult, have stolen and slept with her boyfriend?" "--I have the cup she used, and a witness -my secretary.  And if I choose to do so, I will have her attempt reported and I will throw the book at her!" "Get out of my house!"  Sure thing, but first Alina explains why else she's there: "--Santi is going for his own custody of Benji.  This household isn't safe for that child.  It is his decision to go forward. You can go ahead and run to Miriam if you want -- And do tell her about the jam your daughrer is in."  Raq wonders what her angle is.  It's just business, nothing personal, Raquel.  I am Santiago's lawyer. You will have to collaborate with me.  And I will not continue with Mia."  Raq tells her to stop already with the threats. Besides, both Santi and she want the same thing.  "----After all, he can come and see the boy any time he wants and I will take him anywhere he wants me to take him.  We're both on the same side."  "--No.  Santiago and you are not on the same side.  You are a Becker.  He just wants his son back in his own home with his own family--not with you."

At the jail, Godoy tries getting Attacker Guy to fess up to why he tried to kill Vice and who was  behind it.  Attacker Guy lies.  Just a friendly visit and that the freaking drunk went suddenly wild.  Heebie jeebies, effing drunk!  He owed me money--yeah, me and my buds in town.  Gambling debts.  He plays the dumb Mexican to the hilt.  The accent and all the trimmings.  Godoy is vexed and loses all patience.  Who tried to kill him and why???!!!

At Santi's house, Lola and Bebo are having some sort of meal.  Bebo has her look under the plate at a love note.  He gets on his knees and opens a ring box.  He proposes. (FF>>A likelier couple there never was...)

Up in his room, Fede's confronts Nico as the reason all of this has come down on Mia like a ton of Santiago's bricks.  "--You played with her.  You toyed with her, and she gave you all.  You said you loved her but you played with her emotions.   You were sleeping with the lawyer at  the same time you slept with Mia!  Then this whole business with Sammy and Mia!  What did you expect?  When are you going to face up to your responsibility in all of this?  You know what?  I NEVER want to see you here again.  I never want to see you again!"  It's quitso for their friendship.

Fede goes up to see Mia.  She asks how it went and what Nico said, how he reacted.  Fede tells her he's had it up to here with her and her crazy antics.  It's serious.  He's just told his best friend he can't stand him and wants nothing more to do with him.  It's all because of her silly needs.  She tells him she needs Nico out of her life and the only way is with Fede's help.  Well, yells, Fede, you've got to own up to your crazy antics being a part of the problem.  I just ended a friendship with my best friend!  Mia's insane reply: "We all have to make some sacrifices."  Somehow she thinks that since Daddy awoke the family has a chance to become a family again.  If Alina and Santiago become an item, the they can go back to the way they were as a family again.  Just them.  This was just too much, he tells her.  She has gone too far now.  "--I am ready to go to any length to get this family back together again."  It's then that she admits to Fede she tried to kill Alina and nearly succeeded.  Fede is drop-jawed shock and awed with this revelation.   "--You got rid of Nico.  That's a first step. What else are you prepared to do for the family?"  He has tears in his eyes at the realization that his sister has crossed over some invisible line here.

Downstairs, Raq has apparently just filled Santi in about Ali and her discussion.  "--And you believed her?"  What her extortion?  I either give up Benja to you or she puts my daughter in jail!  That woman is up to no good.  She wants YOU!  That is her aim.  Either you get that woman out of my life or you lose me forever!"  Santi doesn't know how much of a Raq and a hard place he's just fallen into.  He doesn't believe Alina's tactics.  It's to this point just been professionalism, not professional hard ball.

At the hospital, Caro and Nico learn from Lola and Nacho that they can transfer Santi to a public hospital, but he will have to wait his turn to be operated on--maybe quite a while.  There's no money since he invested all of it into the housing project.  They could sell the jeep but it still would take days, offers Nacho.  Out of nowhere, who should appear and offer to pay the expenses but Raq with imaginary hat in hand, and Dam.  "--We're at opposite ends personally, but no reason not to extend a helping hand to Santi in his time of need." Lola explains it as consider it a loan for now.  Caro agrees.  (Hey, Dam owes her hubby that much for having banged his wife the past two and a half years.)  Nacho mentions it's not easy to find a friend like Santi.

Caro awaits the benefits of private hospitalization and Santi's soon to be surgery once (I believe) Dam goes with Nico to pay whatever was necessary to get the hospital expenses handled.

A bit later, Caro is thinking and waiting as Raq comes to sit and apologize for all her bad thoughts and the horrible things she'd said to her.  Caro says she's wanted to apologize for her bad behavior and nasty commentary as well.  Raq was only thinking of herself and her personal pain where Caro was being a careful mother.  Caro says she thought of how protective Raq is and how Raq always has a way of knowing how to resolved problems that arise.  They make up and the argument is forgotten.

Raquel loses her patience.  Of course these things she said and did and it is all to manipulate us!  For goodness sake.  Wake up and smell the coffee.  This woman slept with your son and that poor Sammy who killed himself.  Recognize what kind of woman this lawyer of yours is!!  (Sick shyster, you mean?)  Santi is convince he can talk sense into Ali. (The Queen of Cougar?  Hah!  You're not her type, dude.  You're way too old.)  If you don't get her out of your life and out of mine, she will end up breaking us up.  (Ok.  So is his simple naivete or a naivete born of subconscious attraction?  Inquiring minds need to know.)

AG says he well, knows something about Blas Garrido, but it's been quite a while, he lies since he had dealings with him. Godoy cannot get answers.  He tells AG he's going to put into the notes (?) that AG is the one who killed Carolina Rivas.  Attacker Guy gets scared and states he had nothing to do with that.  Stops himself cold at that point.  "--Tell it to the judge."  He's taken back to the cell.  Godoy tells him to search his memory real hard and give him something on Garrido.  Godoy then calls Antonio who is getting nowhere with Vice.  He want's him protected from further attacks.  Double guard on Vice and so on.  Godoy rings him.  Attacker Guy is part of Garrido's gang.  We need to use it to get Vicente to talk. (Not sure of the rest of his information.)

Back in Mia's bedroom suite at home: Fede sobs over Mia's mad attempt to poison another human being --yeah, even if it was Queen Cougar.  "--You don't do that if you're normal and I just gave up my friendship with Nico.  Boy am I now sorry I did!  You've got to stop this crazy shit!  It's serious!  You tried to kill her!"  Mia sobs back that she stopped and didn't.  (Excuse me?  There's a difference in culpability here? ) Technically yeah, but Fede doesn't believe when it comes to crazy, there is.  Nope there is not and he is trying to make that point.  It's too subtle for Mia's inherited manipulating madness she got from Screaming Mimi de Miram.  Nope neither of them are normal.   The fact that Nico's mom slept with their dad; and now that Mom is sleeping with Nico's dad has happened.  Get it?  She was right all that time but everyone refused to believe her or even to try to do anything about confirming it!!  You called me sick in the head but it wasn't!!!!!!!!!!!!!11  Ok. adds Fede.  I realize you were right; what you did was to protect the family.  But now it's got to stop.  Isn't it enough for you, with all that's just happened?  Carolina's dead.  Dad's incapacitated.  You nearly killed Alina.  Sammy killed himself. "  Nope, Mia won't take responsibility for ANY of it.  Carolina entered our lives and died.  Now Santiago is involved in the family.  She doesn't want him anywhere near the family and least of all Nico.

Antonio comes back to interview Vice again.  He lays down the facts.  AG is not Nobody and/or an Unknown.  He's one of his old gambling debtors he played cards with in the bars in Valle.  "--Oh, and BTW, he's also in Blas Garrido's gang of small time bandido's--the same Blas Garrido who used Damian Becker's credit card just days after the car accident.  So you're going to tell me in great detail what he's afraid you're going to tell us.  It's that you they are accomplices in Carolina Rivas' murder?  Is that what they're afraid you're going to tell us?"

Back at Raq's Santi and Raquel continue discussing the pros and cons of keeping Ali on as his lawyer lady.  Raq wants her out of their lives.  (There are more fishy lawyers in the sea, bud.  Really there are.)  He owes her money and she'll listen to him.  She's gotten him through so many things already.  Trust in him and his ability not to fall for her charms if that's really what's motivating her.  Ok?  Raq promises to take care of Benji in the meantime?

Lola accepts Bebo's proposal.  FF>>

Later Fede comes down to speak to Raq once Santi's left.  He simply says Mia's motivation was to get the family back and to get Caro and Santiago's family out.  That was it?  She's not certain, from her expression, that that was all of it.

Well, The Cougar Queen gets home.  Looks like Rueda is going to do everybody the favor.  Alina is taken by surprise when Rueda attacks her and begins to strangle her.
====================================
Part 2 - #89

More Blame Than Shame

Alas, Rueda lets us all down-hard!  He comes to his senses leaving Alina to gasp for air, finally free from his meaty clutches.  Rudy fails at his criminal attempt just like poor Sammy.  He blames Ali who blames him: he had to have known that Sammy hadn't gotten over his Mamasita's death all those many years ago.  He was ill-traumatized but Rued refused to recognize the problem.  Sammy was on a non-stop self-propelled downward spiral.  Rudy could have stopped it but chose to do nothing.  Rudy then learns that Sammy had tried and failed suicide and had also tried to kill her but failed.  Who to take the blame.  Well, there's enough to go around and Alina takes some of it finally, then tries to comfort her ex-lover's grieving father and also onetime lover.  (When it comes to keeping it in the family, then Alina's got it down in spades.)

Santi has Nico in the car and is driving home from Raquel's place.  Nico takes the blame for Sammy and Mia.  He betrayed her with Alina and she's  in love with him so it's his fault for two timing Mia with Alina.  Mia loves him and he cheated on her behind her back, blah, blah, blah.  Damina says not at all.  Her actions are a long way from love.  Well, all the same, Mom and Damian betrayed her and the others; then now here is Mamma Raq two timing Damian with his daddy while Dam is fighting to recover some sort of a life and health. She cannot stand betrayal.  "--Hah!  That's a long way from making an attempt on somebody's life!  Nico, stop and think.  If she did that, then what other sorts of things is she capable of!"  (Word up, mi Nico.

Lisa comes to the jail infirmary, with a Garrido goon trailing her back. She does as Garrido demanded; that raises Antonio's antennae,   She tell the ex hubby to keep his trap shut or his son will die.  Lisa whispers out of earshot hugs and whispers to Vice about Garrido's gang's threats to her and their son back in Valle.  Vice plays along and whispers that she needs to ask Santiago for help.  Lisa does this on the way out of the building while hugging Santi hello-goodbye.  Santi then tells Antonio what's what at Lisa's house in Valle.

At the hospital, Damian's legs are being tested.  He doesn't seem to remember all his family members' names or the baby Benji as being his son.  Doc wants a family meet at the ICU stat.  When they get there, Raq and Family are told they must treat Dam with patience and constancy.  Be there for him and with him.  Raq knows that Santi ain't gonna like this Rx for family renewal.  Mia is thrilled by it.
========================================

Raq gives Mia the bad news: she has to return to her therapy with the psychologist?  "--Oh, so now I'm the crazy one again."  Raq tries to explain how a rational person might act when they get the bad news their lover has cheated on them.  You leave them, ignore them, separate.  "--But I didn't go through with it!  I regret it!"  Raq finally tells her plainly that what she did was extremly serious.  It cannot happen again and it cannot be overlooked.  I want you to get over this and to be happy.  "--Then Dump Santiago and forgive Daddy!"  Raq is at a loss for words --as if it were ever this simple in a marriage versus parenting children and the love for a child is a much different relationship you ninny than love between man and a woman in a sexual relationship.  So far Raq is 0 for 10 on that score.

Juan sees Bebo leave.  He calls Lola and breathes into his cell phone (omg, the old heavy breathing trick of 40 + years ago and which in this day and age is just too stupid for words).  Lola tells him not to force her to report him to the police and he hangs up.

[More to come]
Then Santi and Nico arrive.  She mentions to Nico about the phone call from Juan.  Santi gets a call from Tonio right after.  Please come to the jail to check out the weird dude Vice's wife has with her there.  Seems a bit strange having this man hanging on her proverbial skirt tails.

Fede chats with Raq about the custody case.  Yes, she agrees with him that Benji should go back with Santi and family.  She agrees, but she doesn't want to be extorted into doing it, which is what Alina had done: give Benji back to Santiago or Mia gets sent to psycho-jail.  (Viewerville doesn't think this is exactly extortion.  Raq should actually count her lucky starts Queen Cougar chose this path of lenient till it hurts.)

Santiago is pampered by Caro and Raq.  Raq arranges to have his private physical therapist come to the house regularly till his leg is back to normal.  The two women inform him they have gone back into their catering business together.  (I'd say with the hospital bills paid, Caro should consider it her portion of the returns.)   Santi thinks it is a great idea.

Dam is taking care of paying the men out of his own pocket while Santi recuperates. Caro returns to the catering offices to greet them all.

10 Months prior to the accident: Fede just happens to be in the neighborhood where daddy Dam is picking up Caro in his black luxmobile.  He sees them hug like more than friends. The smiles and hugs are not the familial kind. He tries calling Dam on the cell phone but Dam purposely ignores it.

One of the cop resources Laura has comes to the studio to get further instructions.  She tells him she wants Cinthia Becker watched.  She's Godoy's latest sexy snitch and maybe he can dig up a lot of dirt on the woman.  (This dude's got the hots for Laura.)

Juan passes the front windows and disappears it seems to Lola.

Raq comes back from the hospital.  Now that she has to play nursemate to damn Dam, she's certain Santi will not understand; tending to Damian's needs will sap the remaining energy she has that she needs for Santiago.  SinCin tells her not to worry.  Santi is in love and intelligent enough to understand.

At the jail infirmary, Lisa has secretly whispered on the way out to Santi what's what before the goon catches up and gets into hearing range.  Santi tells Tonio once she's gone that they have to help her right away, that her kid's being held prisoner at the house in Valle.  The cops go into action.

Godoy continues pressuring Vice's first Attacker Guy for answers about Garrido.  He continues to deny, deny, deny.

Later Santi shows up at Raq's again only to find her crying.  Raq explains what the doctor has told the family about being 24/7 with Damian.  He forgives her and will understand.

At los Alvarado, Lola confides in Nico about the Juan heavy breather escapade.  Juan's mama comes over to inform her that Juan didn't show up at court and has been summoned again and needs to show up or he's going back to jail.  (I have an easy solution - let him miss the second hearing and get thrown back in jail.  Safer for everyone involved!)

Later in the afternoon, Lisa gets back home and the gang members begin yelling and abusing Lisa.  Just when they threaten her son the Antonio's police show up and rescue her and the kid.  Garrido escaped, though.

Godoy gets the phone call and then lies to Attacker Guy that Garrido is now dead at the house invasion scene and shootout.  Tricked, AG finally believes he's got no choice but to give his side of things or go to jail for attempted murder of Vice and possibly Caro also.  Garrido and he knew that Caro and Dam were rich people who could be hit up for the cash in their wallets.  They hid out in the bushes and then Garrido smashes the car with a huge brick that so startles Dam he loses control of the car and it plunges 50 feet down the ravine.  Beyond that he/we know nothing.

At Raq's again, Mia says Daddy's opened his eyes and is recovery bit by bit.  She still has the illusion that they can all be one big happy family again.  Raq hugs her but she has gotten nowhere with Mia's mental fantasies about happy family time.  Santi has to sneak out of the house while tempermental and fragile Mia is unaware and in the kitchen.  SinCin does the honors and reminds Santi that Raq is totally in love with him and under pressure from the demands the doc's just made on her and the family.

At the jail, Tonio congratulates Godoy.  However, now they've got to work on Vice again.  Sooner or later the rest of it has to come out.....

Jardinera: Did you say Bebo proposed to Lola ?

Laura is old enough to be his Mommy.

"Santi doesn't know how much of a Raq and a hard place he's just fallen into" was amazing Jardinera. That and "meaty clutches" were among many favorites.

Outstanding recap as always.

Where on earth to start? "And, as much as Cougar Queen has her own pile of socially perverse preppies she's felled over the years that need hiding--she does score and Bigtime against Raq" seems to be the perfect place. This is the first time I've seen Raquel so royally vanquished by such stinging words. Although Alina's extortion is contemptible, I'm still not sure that Raquel realizes how truly mentally ill her daughter is. Even poor Fede has finally seen and admitted Mia is much more than a bad seed.

"It's then that she admits to Fede she tried to kill Alina and nearly succeeded". But no remorse. None whatsoever.

I thought surely Rueda killed Alina. Nopis. A few coughs and Alina rises from her almost deathbed, seemingly unscathed. Sadly, this twisted sister is going to cause much more mayhem ere this is through.

I was surprised that Raq forgave Caro (for what she knew). Raq's proprietary nature with Santi always amuses me. I'm fairly confident that my best friend wouldn't be liberally applying lotion to my husband's arms in front of me. Or that I would want her to. But nary an eyelash was batted so...

I will have more to say when the recap is complete.

Jardinera, this was wonderful. Thank you.

Diana

Steve, not quite sure what you mean. Lola is right around Bebo's age...

Diana

Diana, I am glad that I was not the only one who found the lotion application a bit odd. : )

Thanks, Steve--I changed it to Lola. Laura won't enter in till sometime late in #89. chalk it up to a midnight creative session screw up.

Jardinera: Thank you for the correction.

All up now. Enjoy!

Thank you, Jardinera. The recap is excellent. My hat is off to you and everyone doing these double episode recaps! Your effort is recognized and appreciated. I love “ damn Dam”.

My usual rant: I could not believe that Nico just opened up the door after hearing the knock with no hesitation or trying to see who it was. They were lucky it was only Juan’s mother. As usual, Lola is not thinking much. She could have called the police after the phone call and possible Juan sighting just to have it on the record.

I am happy we got some info on what precipitated the accident.

The end is in sight!

I'm sorry but you're not applying lotion to my husband's arms. I don't care if I am sleeping with YOUR husband, you won't be applying lotion to my husband's arms.

Every last one of the Beckers is infected with mental illness or abuse trauma.

Lots of people not trying to take responsibility in this episode:

Raquel not taking responsibility for how she failed Mia

Rueda not taking responsibility for how he failed Sammy

Alina not taking responsibility for sleeping with Sammy when she knew he was unstable after his mother's death

Mia not taking responsibility for trying to kill Alina

Nico not taking responsibility for sleeping with Mia after being told by Raquel and Federico that Mia was unstable and if he wasn't serious about her to stop playing with her (or don't start, in Federico's case).

Sure, Nico blamed himself for the situation and feels bad but if Alina called him up today he would sleep with her again and if Mia came on to him again he would sleep with HER again.

We finally got to see Lisa & Vicente's son.

Anon207: good call on the Becker’s.

Jar--Another masterpiece from your pen (or fingers, but definitely your literary mind). Thank you.

I have to run, will be back later, but I just have to leave this one thought: If this is a private hospital, where one pays big bucks, why is it that the family has to be in attendance 24/7. Isn't that why they have nurses? I can see being with him 8-10 hours a day, rotating, but this is just the stuff telenovelas are made for. Poor Raq, Fede and Mia. It's just not fair.

Thanks Jardinera. Stellar.

Yes, I yelled when Nico opened the dorr without checking. But then again, has he (or anyone else) EVER checked? I was shocked to see Juan's mnother but at least she had the decency (and good sense) to "if you see something, say something". Sigh.

So if the motive was extortion, why didn't they confront Dam in a different manner rather than trying to kill him? I'm thinking that is just his take and that there is a mastermind who plotted this for hatred and or revenge. I hate to think we've agonized for months over who orchestrated this for nothing! :)

Diana

Jardinera amazing, completely mesmerizing recap. Thanks for all of the missing puzzle pieces.

I do not think Vicente told Lisa to tell Santi, he said "don't worry, i'll take care of this or I won't say anything", Santi was there because Antonio called him so it was a good call on Antonio's part. And very smart of Lisa to go tell Santi.

I sure hope nothing happens to Lola or Bebe, Santi has suffered too much to also lose his daughter.
The scene where Mia asks Raquel to go back with her daddy was not shown, but when I read the recap I screamed...freaken Mia she drives me bonkers. And Raquel too for enabling her.

What the hell, all is well with Raq and Carol, ughhhh!!! I thought OK so all is well, you got your friend back, stop screwing her husband. Nope Carol goes back to doing the same old crap. Of course she did otherwise we would not have a story.

Laura who cares!!!

Thanks Jardinera! A lot to cover with these two episodes.

If Rueda had killed Alina that would’ve been way too easy. Karmaggedon for both of them will come soon enough, I’m sure.

Raquel is obviously not about to let another woman walk all over her and steal her man. Even if she and Alina aren’t friends, Alina is a more dangerous rival. Alina is like a black widow.

The subplot with Santiago’s accident and Caro/Raq reconciliation annoyed me. Carolina obviously continues to betray Raquel.

After almost 90 episodes we finally see Vicente’s son. I’m sure much more is to be revealed about Vicente’s involvement in the accident. The biggest mystery is who was driving the company car?

It seems like every character in this story knew about the affair except Raquel and Santiago. What does Fede have to gain by keeping this secret?

The scene where Raquel breaks down about possibly losing Santiago by staying by Damian’s side was very well done.

I took Bebo’s proposal as more of a promise not an official engagement.

Thanks, Jardinera.

Well, yells, Fede, you've got to own up to your crazy antics being a part of the problem.

You go, Fede. He knows his sister better than anyone. If I were Santi, I'd be afraid for Mia to be in the house alone with Benji.

I hope Jovita got a raise for her extra duty: taking care of Benji when no one else is around. As Bones from Star Trek would say, "Damn it! I'm a housekeeper, not a babysitter!"

Lola is not ready to get engaged to or marry anyone, even Prince Charming Bebo. Girl needs to decompress, get some more schooling, and learn not to blindly answer the door.

Gracias, Jardiera.

I was surprised at Rueda pulling back. This made him more human. It makes me wonder whether he will take another look at himself, his greed, and his involvement with Andres and Miriam.

Whenever he was involved with Alina (which I suspect was before he was married) how could he have foreseen that she would eventually seduce his son? Who would ever predict that?

That Mia felt no remorse over her attempt on Alina's life does not surprise me. We all consider her a lost cause for a variety of reasons. However, I'm not ready to blame Raquel for this. She has tried to get Mia to see a shrink in the past and Mia has refused. Raquel has not been legally able to force it as Mia is 18 years old. She has the leverage to do so now with an ultimatum: Go to the shrink or be reported for attempted murder. Alina has the evidence and a witness. This could get Mia locked up in a facility for the criminally insane.

As for Mia's demand that Raquel ditch Santiago and forgive Damian, Raquel did not react to that in the episode. I am of two minds about how she should react. She should either ignore the demand or tell her point-blank that this isn't going to happen. However, since Mia is so persistent in all this even to the point of trying to make Raquel answerable to her for her comings and goings I'm leaning toward telling it like it is:

"Mia, you are not a child anymore and you need to stop thinking and behaving like one. Your father betrayed our marriage and by extension our family. That is not forgivable. If you can't forgive Nico cheating on you with no promise of marriage how can you expect me to forgive your father? You are not the center of the universe and none of us are obliged to do your bidding. You will leave Federico alone to find himself and you will stop interfering in my relationship with Santiago. You will go back into therapy now or I will take you to family court and force the issue."

Considering that Mia was willing to kill to suit her own agenda, it's time for the manicomio.

Anita, the good doctor's advice about Raquel, Federico, and Mia being around is about helping Damian regain his memory. That's less likely to happen in the company of strangers.

That same doctor should also keep Miriam away from him.

Sandie, I also hope nothing happens to Lola or Bebo either. Aside from Benji, Lola is the sweetest, kindest person here.

Fervently hoping Lola makes it through and after she does "Girl needs to decompress, get some more schooling, and learn not to blindly answer the door". Excellent Niecie! (and loved the Star Trek aside. Ahhh, James T. Kirk, back in the day)...

TF, I kept wondering what Fede was going to say to Damian if Damian had answered. I think he wanted to see if Damian was lying. I think he doesn't want to believe what he is seeing. That must have been a very heavy burden. I doubt he said anything to Mia who had been talking of their affair pretty much all along. But, you never know.

Urban, I fault Raquel only for not realizing how truly ill Mia is/was. I think she just didn't see (clearly) how evil, nasty and manipulative Mia is. It must be hard not to see your children as you want them to be, but Mia was was anything but a kind, loving child. She was evil through and through.

Diana

I don't think there is a parent on this planet who is willing to see evil in his/her own child. I would say that is mostly true of siblings as well, although I think siblings see these things and acknowledge them first. Federico is more clear-headed on this now and he needs to help Raquel see what he sees. This won't be easy for either of them.

Cinthia has also seen Mia's evil selfishness, but her past makes her less credible.

Thank you Jardinera for the great double recap. I missed a lot.

If Carolina were not already dead, I would have been worried that Mia's question to Fede was a prelude to his involvement with the murder of Carolina: "--You got rid of Nico. That's a first step. What else are you prepared to do for the family?" Luckily Fede cannot do too much more since Mia seems to it all worked out (not). I cannot figure out what else her diseased brain will come up with. She needs to be committed before she decides who else needs to go. And really it was quite against her stated wish to have Santi hook up with Alina when she in fact tried to kill her! If she had succeeded, Santi would have cemented his relationship with Raquel. But the continued 'living' presence of Damian will prove a challenge to Santi and Raquel. And now with the good doctor's prescription that the Becker family devote its energies to help him get better. Quite a challenge when he cannot put faces to names... And Mia and Miriam, and to a lesser extent Fede, seem to be the only ones invested is his recovery.

13 more episodes on UNI to go.

Anon--I hope your count is correct. That means the double-upping is over. What boggles my mind is that they let Mi Marido run over 4 minutes every single night. (Yeah, I know, nothing can interfere with the 11 o'clock news, which in this region leads with the latest homicide or aggression in the Latin American community.) Still, if they had counted right, they could have started chopping 5-6 minutes off of every night since the beginning. Lord knows there are scenes that could have been left off without screwing up the build-up in the last episodes.

Diana--Don't you feel that somehow, Fede is the only person left that Carolina could have seen speeding off without raising her suspicions? Hope it's not true.

Meanwhile, I wonder if Attack Guy is really telling the truth. Everybody in the pueblo probably heard about the accident, besides Vic, Lisa and Garrido. If AG thinks Garrido is dead, he could make up just about anything to save himself. It still doesn't answer the question of how "Garrido" (if it were him at all) knew the exact day, time and route Dam and Caro were taking. How did anyone know he was carrying a lot of cash? Remember--nothing from the wallet was missing--just that one credit card. (Most people nowadays DON'T carry a lot of cash. They carry a bunch of credit cards.)

Urban--I get that the doc wanted the family to stick around to help Dam recover his memory, but do they really have to sit there while he sleeps? It would seem to me that day duty would suffice. I really feel sorry for Raq--and huzzas for Jardinera who gave us another GEM, that Santi is caught between a Raq and a hard place. Tee hee.

I was almost convinced that Rueda had done in Alina. We had to spend at least 2 minutes watching her legs twitch (see, they could have cut that out and put back some of the Raq and Santi scenes that explain the later set-up). Yes, better for her to be condemned by her peers with all the Alvarados and Beckers watching her get disbarred and perhaps off to prison.

Urban--do her justice on the Karmageddon chart. As an aside, who are you actually going to be able to leave off?

I can't wait to see Mia's next steps.

Diana--I agree, we've waited so long to have Caro's killer revealed. It would be such a pitiful, easy way out denouement after all the suspense involved in setting this all up. Petty criminals? Give us a break. Well, it's not over yet. GG may still surprise us.

Anon, yes, I keep foolishly thinking Dam knows what's going on. Appreciate your reminding us that he really can't identify his own family. Him calling his mother "Raquel" (geez, did he call her Caro? Speaking of no memory :)) So yes, a very long and winding road for him.

Anita, Fede has been in the (very back) of my mind as a possible suspect. And what you said makes perfect sense. Seeing him when she and Dam were leaving would have registered just the look we saw. No real reaction. I do think he is a gentle soul though as uncomfortable as I am now...

And I'm really wondering who the "Laura" is you referred to in your recap Jardinera. Another late entry character? Yikes...

Diana

Jardinera654 this was superb. Because
You are such a good recapper and it's
Gettin down to the nitty gritty of it.
"It" meaning who offed caro. I would
Love to see raq and Caro face off.Now
That would have put the super sweet icing on the cake. Instead santi and
Raquel's relationship is mow gettin hijacked by Damian and Mia.That is not
Fair. The little twit is not takin any
Responsibility for nothing that she's
Done. I'm with you jardinrea alina should press charges so crazy is put in a psych ward for awhile. Raquel and
Fede can have some piece. And she can
Hire some nurses to care for Damian.

That's just so unfair. Raquel & santi
Got to pay for these two selfish and
Reckless people's bad behavior and
Very selfish choices. Not fair GG. NOT
fair Carolina don't get to face the
People she hurt and devastated, her
Husband and her children, and her best
Friend,At least on Raquel's part they were Bffs. I liked the make up scene in hospital waiting room when raq and Caro made up. Raquel is so genuine and caro is such lying deceitful slut. This sucks GG.

Now we know how the accident happened,
Now who drug Caro out of the, well shot
Her first then drug her out? What if its fede? He saw them hugging in the parking lot. I cam see him loosing it
And beinging crazier than his evil twin. Now who's really the evil twin?
He did look really pist. Daddy cheatin
I'm moma with her so called best bud.
Yeah that'll push the sane one off the
Cliff.

Thank you Jardinera.And a ♡Happy V'day
To all my patio pals♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡◇♡♡♡♡♡♡◇♡♡

I agree with y'all. I don't think I'd want another woman rubbing lotion on my husband's arms. Friend or not. But
Maybe in Caro's twisted thinkin, she'd let her since she's been Rubbing other parts of her husband's body.Well other
Stuff is twisted about this show why
Not that?Santi didn't seem to mind it.
Of course he knew Raquel was being a
Good friend. Something his wife isn't
Capable of.

Urban what is "manicomio"?

Manicomio = insane asylum.

As to who won't make the Karmageddon list I will leave off the petty criminals, some of whom are red herrings and the mean kids from school. The latter because we haven't seen any of them for many episodes.

Mia's recent actions are making me wonder when this insanity really began.

UA: I'm thinking Nora Gaxiola 2.0 was either molested or raped by Andres.

Steve, I've been thinking that same thing for a while now.

We have barely seen them interact. There has to be a reason for that so I'm thinking that the writers have been keeping an ace up their sleeves.

I wish she could be taken out of the picture completely. Not killed just sent on assignment. The middle East maybe? And kidnapped by some Arabian Prince. And made to marry him.
Free Godoy! Free Godoy! Free Godoy! No
We shouldn't do that to arabs, they've got their terrors to deal with.
