Caer en Tentacion #96, 2/20/18: I Want a Divorce Because I've been Cheating on You for Three Years and It's Time

Greetings, amigos on the Patio. This is my last recap for Caer. It's been a fabulous run and have enjoyed exploring all the nooks and crannies of this well-crafted story. Tonight the chickens are coming home to roost. We only have a few more episodes to go and I'll be keeping my eyes on all the developments from here on out.

Some scenes combined so it's not so choppy.
En el Presente
Azucena is still talking to Damian. The subject is cash. With difficulty, Dam says the cash for Vicente wasn't there. Azu says she personally put the cash in a satchel and put it in Dam's car, as he instructed. She's offended that he might think she took it. After some back and forth, it's clear that Andres knew about the large sum of money withdrawn from Dam's account. She shares that he's obsessively followed every movement of money in the company.

Andres pays a surprise visit to Alina. She's not interested in whatever it is he wants. He ask her to hear him out. It's just a little business affair. He can arrange for her to get everything she wants and he can have the same. What does he mean by that, she asks. Don't be stupid, he replies. Raquel and Santiago.

Cintia gets home and is immediately accosted by Mia. She extracts the little nugget (too easily, I might say) of information that Raquel ended her relationship with Santiago. For sure? Yes, for sure. As Cin leaves, a half-smile appears on Mia's face, but otherwise her evil façade in untouched.

Nando is getting chewed out--again--by Antonio. This time it's for not answering his cell phone in a timely manner. He promises to end it all soon. Ant tells him they are going to let Vicente go in hopes he'll lead them to Garrido. He's to follow him and not lose sight of him. He doesn't want Nando to mess it up this time because the judge is very close to closing the case on them. This time it's Ant's phone that rings and he gets up to answer it in a timely manner. It's Santiago with a plan. The Alvarado clan hatch a plot sitting around the dining room table.

And here comes Andres, scuttling in to the catering office like the cockroach he is. He makes Raquel an offer she should refuse. He tells her he has one of the most important banquet clients interesting in purchasing the whole business. He plays with Raq's emotional state suggesting she'd be better off getting rid of all her bad memories with the stroke of a pen. Raq says she can't speak for Santi's family because half still belongs to Carolina. Andres says that's not a problem. Either he or Raq can negotiate a settlement after the deal is sealed. He leaves her to think about it. (She should have gotten herself a lawyer not named Alina.)

Rueda and Vic, sittin' in a car, K-I-S-S-I-N-G NOT. Rueda says he should be happy he's free. Vic is pissed he didn't get anything out of anybody. Rueda says to forgetaboutit and disappear. Rueda is sympathetic to his "economic" situation, but isn't disposed to help. He orders Vic out of the car. Nando, watching from his own car, is at the ready.

[ed. note: Must I really be forced to report in detail how they caught Juan? Would it be sufficient for me to say, how easily Juan fell for his mother's earnest words? How they used poor Lola as bait? For goodness sakes, he could have had that gun, the one he had before, and shot her as she stood there, the cheese waiting for the rat. The trap snaps as Juan sees Santi approaching Lola. Juan looks around. He's trapped, but, like any self-respecting rat who didn't grab the cheese, he makes a run for it. Fortunately, the whole Alvarado household, plus some police extras are on the scene, guns drawn. All eyes are on Antonio who gets the honor to yell, cuff him. Juan swears he will kill them all. Hopefully this is the last we see of Juan.]

Raquel tells Cin she's decided to sell the business. With the money they get, Cin suggests, they can start another business. Raq says, that's the plan. She reflects that this place only brings her bad memories, memories of Dam and Caro using this as a perfect meeting place. She imagines they probably made love here. Cin reminds her that Raq also shares memories with Santi. That's the problem. He also lied to her. She calls Santi. When he hears her voice, he's still at the capture Juan location, but he is pleased she called him. He calls her mi amor and wants the opportunity to explain the misunderstanding...she cuts him off and as cold as ice tells him she's selling the business to rid herself of all the things that do her ill.

En el Pasado
Damian and Carolina, sittin' in a car  K-I-S-S-I-N-G NOT YET. Dam announces he's going to tell Raquel the truth, the whole truth. He's going to tell Raq he wants to be with Caro. After all the lies and how much he's hurt her, it's the least he can do. (You go, fella, I say, dripping with sarcasm.) Caro has a moment of reflection but agrees to talk to Santi. They exchange "te amos" and a couple of very meaningful--to them--kisses. She gets out of the car and leaves.

Fede is still in the stands trying to breathe and trying to tell Nico what was on his mind. All he can get out is that it has to do with his father. He ends up in the hospital.

Dam shows up at the catering office. He's about to divulge his naughty extra-curricular activities, but Raq can't stop to talk. She's flying around getting two big events launched. He really wants to talk to her. It's about the two of them. At that moment she gets the call from Nico telling her what happened to Fede. They will leave for the hospital immediately.

Santi gets a different story from Auggie that Carolina gave him earlier on why Flo left so suddenly. Auggie says, well money talks and she was offered a better-paying job. He leaves for work. Caro gets home. She prepares herself for the most painful confession of her life, to someone not a priest. Caro begins, "I have to talk to you." Santi says, if it's about Flo, Auggie already filled him in. She claims it's about the two of them. Things haven't been good between them for some time now, she says. Santi assumes it's about Vic. (Remember, folks, he doesn't know the extent of the Vic, Caro, Dam, and Santi's dad's gun.) He's sorry about that and won't interfere again in her relationship with Vic. Just then he gets a call from Nico. He tells them about Fede's asthma attack. Caro has a panic attack thinking Fede has said something before she has had a chance to put a better spin on the affair. After all, falling in love with someone not your husband sounds a lot better than cheating on her husband for three years and boinking someone he knows very well.

Dam and Raq arrive at the hospital to find Fede is fine and is using a nebulizer. Raq goes to his side while Nico explains to Dam that Fede was trying to tell him something about his family and Dam's, but he couldn't because he couldn't breathe. (So, now we know why Fede had to have asthma, nothing else would do. It worked, no?) Raq brings Dam to their son's bedside. Caro and Santi arrive to learn what happened to Fede and to calm Nico down. Poor kid thought Fede was going to die on him.

In the cubicle, Fede asks his father not to separate from his mother. Outside, Nico goes for coffee so Santi asks Caro to pick up where she left off at the house. What had her so upset? Caro girds up her loins and starts again with them not getting along for a long time and how they no longer connect. Very calmly, she says, "I want a divorce." Santi stares at her.

En el Presente
Alina is talking to Santi in her office. She's so happy the nightmare is over for him and by the way, she's lined up a dinner with two investors for that very night. Santi isn't in the mood for any parlay, but Alina already has her talons in his soft underbelly. She's persuasive. Business is business. He gives in.

Azu is still with Dam. Downstairs, Mia probes her mother's thoughts without a mind meld. Raq is willing to share her thoughts with her daughter. She's selling the catering business. She only needs to talk to Andres. Mia can't help it. She wants to force Raq to reveal her status with Santiago. She asks if she's going to end it with him. Raq answers that yes, she's going to end it. (Si, terminare--sorry no final accent for the future tense, but make believe there is one.) Mia smirks as Raq turns her back because, of course, Mia already knows Raq should have answered in the past tense.

Granny calls Fede to reschedule their appointment. When he arrives, he finds Miriam quite agitated. She wants to sell the business. Andres is involved in some dicey business. Fede resists the notion. She warns that Andres is an unscrupulous person. She's afraid for herself and her only family left, Mia and Fede. Dam hasn't been managing things since he got involved with that woman and with Andres running things, he's out of control. Fede is aware, or strongly suspected that Andres was laundering money. He's sure that Miguel was involved. She wants to sell and get out from under this menace. Fede again refuses. He's going to get to the bottom of this. She begs him not to, she's already lost Damian and doesn't want to lose him. Big hug. (The poor dear seems really scared. I don't think this is a plot between Rueda and herself.)

Andres hurries to the Beckers to seal the deal. He tells her the buyer is on his way. She finally agrees to be the one who will negotiate the settlement for Caro's part with Santiago. Andres and the buyer look at each other knowingly as she signs. Andres wants to toast and goes to get some champagne. Raquel is wandering around the house a bit and tells Jovita what she's doing and what about Santi. Jovita tells her to call him. She dials his number.

Alina, wearing a road-kill fur, is waiting for Santi at a table in a fancy restaurant. He kisses her cheek with no emotion other than a greeting. She's just gushing. He ought to be celebrating his good luck. The two investors have arrived. One is a youngish bearded man in a suit and tie. The other one, who keeps his back to us has grey hair. (We never see his face--could it be Saldivar???) Santi pays and goes to the rest room. (Ay de mi. Why is his phone not in his pocket? He's not a teenager who needs a phone visible at all times.) Of course, the minute Santi is out of hearing distance, the phone rings. The young investor offers to take the phone to Santi. Alina tells the investors she's a friend and can answer for him. She identifies herself to Raquel. Any messages? Inwardly she's gloating. Put a fork in him, Santi is done. Raquel hangs up. Angry and disgusted she wonders out loud to Jovita why Santi is still with Alina and why Alina is answering his phone. She's done with him. Alina can put a fork in him for all she cares. The dinner ends satisfactorily and the two new investors leave. Santi realizes he owes her a lot for this opportunity and tells her so. (I'm sure she will make him pay.)

Damian is having a frightening flashback. It's Vicente whacking at the passenger side door, where Carolina is yelling, terrified. He drags her out and starts wielding the shovel above his head to bring it down on her. Dam calls out, helplessly from inside the car for him to stop. Dam wakes up in a cold sweat calling out Vicente's name. Dam is out of control yelling for Vic to stop. The nurse runs in and soon everyone is at his bedside except for Andres and the buyer. All is chaos. They finally calm him down and Raq asks him, what about Vic? He can only stare at her and repeats Vic's name.

In a place, far, far away from furs, champagne, contracts, investors and phone calls, Garrido pays a little visit to Vicente, who is now at home--where he probably shouldn't be if he wants to save his own skin. Vic is prepared to fight, but Garrido says he only wants to talk. He wants Vic to go back to the police and tell them the truth. Vic wonders what truth. Garrido says the whole truth, that he and Tato had nothing to do with Caro's murder, which he knows very well. He wants the cops off his back. Vic's still not up for it.

A little later, Garrido and Vic are sharing a drink and talking like a couple of civilized thugs. Vic wants to know what he knows. Garrido slyly says Vic knows that better since he got there before he and Tato did. Vic swears he didn't kill his sister. Garrido laughs because Vic spent all his time blackmailing her. Now, he orders Vic, get him out of this mess or else his son will die. Vic, knowing he can't win this round, agrees to tell the police what Garrido wants.

Unbeknownst to them, Nando and a sidekick have been biding their time right outside. They burst in. Garrido immediately fingers Vic as the killer and says it was all his idea. After a short stand-off with guns pointing at heads, Garrido is garrabbed and Vic takes off.

Back at the Becker house where Andres is still toasting his good luck, he asks Raquel what she wants to do about the settlement with Santiago. Raquel turns the matter over to Andres. Andres and the buyer exchange knowing looks. Mia, the little snot, interrupts to tell Raquel she needs to be by her father's side instead of chit-chatting and orders her upstairs. Dam woke up and is asking for her. If looks could kill (or if I knew how to do a screen shot in 5 min. or less, I'd freeze frame Raquel's face at that moment). Raquel excuses herself. The two men clink, smile and take a swallow.

Alina has called Santi to her office. She tells him they need to talk about the sale of the catering business. Andres wants to negotiate the settlement. Santi refuses to have anything to do with Andres. Alina says he has to and like the cockroach he is, Andres comes scurrying in. Santi looks at Alina. He's pretty sure he's being played. Andres is in high dudgeon, snarking about how he's heard Raquel doesn't want to have anything more to do with him.

Garrido has been taken to Ant's office. He's decided to spill his beans. Vic was at the cantina, drunk as a skunk, as always, and losing at cards. He wanted Garrido to stake him to some more cash. Garrido wanted to know how he was going to pay him back. That's when he told him that Becker was going to deliver a big pile of cash.

Pay attention now, Patio detectives, this is an important scene. Garrido sets the scene. He and Tato are on a motorcycle. They know where the rendezvous is to take place. They hide the moto. When they see Vicente pass them, they know Becker will be behind him. They throw the rock but the imbecile lost control and went over the embankment. Antonio asks him if he saw who killed Carolina. Garrido says no, all he saw was that Vic's car was there and Vic was there, below. Nando shows him a photo of a car (presumably the Legato car--before being burned). Garrido says that's the one.

Antonio wonders why they should believe him as he's the main suspect (after going through two other main suspects and coming up empty handed). It's Garrido's word against Vic's. Garrido says that's true, but suppose, suppose there was someone else at the scene of the accident. Another car showed up. (We see the car driving up and the door opening. Lordy I hope it isn't Santi's jeep.) Nando wants to know who was driving. Garrido looks up, pleased.

And that my friends, is left for tomorrow.
Must see TV.
Signing off, with gratitude and appreciation for readers and commenters,
Anita

Thank you very much, Anita! Thank you for your efforts throughout this whole novela. Greatly appreciated. I came late but I got to enjoy the recaps just the same.

As for the episode itself, I was holding my breath waiting for the final shoe to drop and I wasn't disappointed. While it wasn't revealed who was in the car, it implies that a lot more people know about the escape than what he know. Or, this is just misdirection and the person in the car was a passerby? Oh boy, here we go again. We did get confirmation that Vicente was in the Legato car and Carolina saw him. He ultimately let his own sister to the slaughter, knowingly.

As for the dumbest portion of the episode, that was Raquel signing that contract without another word. Even worse than the Juan portion, Raquel told Andres she didn't trust him at least 2 episodes ago, so how does she go about doing this blindly? Add that to the Juan mess (he sure fell easily for his mother's lie? Didn't he?)

The love triangle is also grating my nerves as Santiago and Raquel have been reasonably levelheaded about their relationship so this last minute confusion is stupid. I can chalk it up to Santiago being WAAAAAY to trusting and Raquel not thinking straight but it's still annoying.

Gracias, Anita. I can't believe you stayed up all night for that and it was a great read.

Andres is probably the driver of the car that just arrived. If he was watching the movement of all the money in the company he could have caught this large withdrawal. I doubt that all of it was meant to go to Vicente.

About Juan, I also agree that we have probably not seen the last of him. His threat to kill everyone at the arrest scene could be one of the last plot twists of the series. I still don't think Lola is safe from him unless he's put in lockdown.

Alina resorts to a junior-high trick with Santiago's phone. Why on earth did he leave it on the table? Was that because the crisis about Juan was over?

BTW, based on her clothes for that scene, Erika de la Rosa would look great in 1940s fashion. We should all write to GG and campaign for a 1940s noir novela anyway. Couldn't you picture Jorge Salinas as a hard-boiled detective chasing after a crime boss played by Sergio Sendel with femmes fatales played by Erika, Silvia, and Susanna Gonzales?

More later.

Anita, the quintessential recap. I wouldn't change a word. Perfection.

There are many things I cannot do. Paring down my list of favorites was nearly impossible. "As Cin leaves, a half-smile appears on Mia's face, but otherwise her evil façade in untouched", "here comes Andres, scuttling in to the catering office like the cockroach he is", "Alina already has her talons in his soft underbelly" was amazing, as was "In a place, far, far away from furs, champagne, contracts, investors and phone calls..."

Like everyone else, I wanted to scream when Alina reached for Santi's phone. That said, Santi was incredibly frustraing last night. Raquel rejected him because of Alina and he should have stayed away. But as you so smartly noted, Alina is an experienced predator and he could not unsnare himself.

Raquel signing those papers after all that has transpired was inexplicable. Raquel not instinctively knowing that anything Andres is involved with is tainted and sordid. Why Raquel, why?

And of course, Damian's plans to confess went awry. Caro's admission did not.

Adios Juan. You will not be missed.

Vincente was crazed during his assault on the car and its riders. Almost impossible to watch without cringing.

Alfredo, I never considered the second car might have been passerbys. With all the twists and turns, that could be possible. I think it's Andres but we will have to wait to be certain.

Urban, please sign me up for that 1940s noir novela. What a cast it would be and of course anything with Susanna Gonzales means I'm in.

I thought this was running through next week so not sure when it is ending?

Anita, recapping was but a part of everything you have done here. You listened, you researched, you answered questions, you reflected and you carefully considered. So generously. You made everyone here feel as though our opinions and ideas mattered. You made us feel included. I am so grateful!

Thank you.

Diana

Anita, the "roadkill fur" was my favorite phrase along with describing Andres as a cockroach, the last thing you want to see in a catering facility!

You were outstanding throughout the run of this series.

I can't believe we have only seven episodes left. What will GG give us next?

Anita, thank you so much for the recap. It was truly a masterpiece. Yes, the whole Juan capture scene was something else . . What? I do not know.

As usual, a novela character has something important to tell another, in this case that they want a divorce, and there is some emergency that prevents one of them from doing it. Old, old, tired, tired . . .

When is the last episode? It looks like we are really close to finding out who did it. “Por amar sin ley” supposedly starts 3/5.

Urban, a 1940’s noir novela with that cast would be fun. If they were only more creative.

I think the finale is next Friday.

One thing about Mia: On her current path she would become Carlota of ENDA.

Anita:

Your Snarkometer was running atfull bore. These gems had me LOL.

"Andres, scuttling in to the catering office like the cockroach he is."
"He makes Raquel an offer she should refuse."
"... Alina already has her talons in his soft underbelly."
"wearing a road-kill fur"
"Garrido is garrabbed"

It's been great being on the recapping team with you. The hour is a late one for all of us and I certainly wish Uni would reconsider. You've given quite a bit of time to this and all was very much appreciated. Perhaps we'll work together in the future.

Cannot believe we only have a few more nights of this mystery. I cannot believe we're STILL guessing so late into the ultimos capitulos, either as to who dunnit.

Thanks again, Anita, for this and all the background support to keep these recaps coming.

Thank you so much, Anita! Fabulous work!

I’m betting the driver of the third car is either Andres or the bobbsey twins. From Damian’s flashback it looked like Vicente was the one who hit him with the shovel so we’ll have to see if his memory is correct. If Damian said he was leaving on a business trip or something in front of Raq and the twins, I’d think the twins (particular Mia) could be smart enough to get suspicious as they already knew about the affair. Andres, like Vicente, was only in it for the money so that possibly puts him at the scene of the crime as well. Can’t wait to see it all wrap up.

The capture Juan scene could’ve been so much better. Although I’m not surprised that Santiago, Nico, and Bebo were willing to potentially put themselves at risk to protect Lola. It was almost comical that out of all the men there Antonio was the only one with a gun. Juan managed to elude ~10 guys for a few seconds and ended up being cornered by one (Antonio).

Ugh Alina. Totally rude of her to answer Santiago’s phone. I hope she gets a good villano punishment.

Anita Merci Beaucoup, Muchas Gracias, Thank you, thank you. A delightful treat with all guns blazing. So much wit, originality and skill. I will miss reading your recaps for this very smart, although at times frustrating story.

Three very annoying things happened in last night's episode.
Number 1. Mia telling Raquel that she better go to her father, what the hell!!! and then Raquel obeys...seriously Raquel (very disappointed with Raquel - Not surprised with Mia)
Number 2. Alina getting away with her plan to get Santi as far away as possible from Raquel. And that very ugly fur.
Number 3. Raquel signing blindly, even though she knows the type of man Andres is. She knows he sexually accosted Lola (Carol told her), she knows he has been stealing money at Legatto, at least suspects, and on top of that she told him to his face she did not trust him, and two days later she signs a contract without consulting an attorney (Not Alina - thanks Anita). Very disappointed with Raquel.

Two very satisfying events also.
Number 1. Juan is down and out in Mexico.
Number 2. Miriam looks broken, scared, alone.

Anita until the next time.

Aside from Benjamin nobody is squeaky clean on this novela,

Yes, it was a late night, but worth every minute. It was a great episode. I knew the minute that Santi got up to go to the rest room, something was up. Most gentlemen can last far longer than ladies without a pit stop. Remember Damian's ruse in the beginning where they first meet and he asks to use the bathroom and Caro MUST show him the way? That seemed a little odd to me, but we must have our telenovela tropes along the way.

What I can't excuse is not only Alina answering--she saw right away it was Raquel, but that she most importantly never told Santi of the phone call.

How are they ever going to get back together if there is such mistrust. She only recently in El Pasado came to mistrust Damian, but he was able to wriggle out of every confrontation.

I'm with everyone who thinks it is Andres in the second car. Since he knew about it, he has no intention of letting that much money go to some drunk, dangerous as he may be. What we have to wait for now is WHO got the money? I wish we had known earlier that a lot of cash was involved. But that would have made the speculation less interesting.

While Dam and Caro were driving on the road, we saw headlights in the rear. Were they red herrings? After all, Vic was in front.

Now to throw another monkey wrench into the works, how about the car Garrido identified. He was probably familiar with Vic's own sedan, which was light colored, but not the Legato sedan, which was black--or at least it was blackly burned when it was found. Suppose the Legato van was the one that pulled up later. It could have been driven by any number of our characters.

What I can't get over is Vic's vicious attack on Carolina. He knew Dam(n) well that she couldn't have come up with the cash. Only Dam could have double crossed him. Why didn't he go after Damian? What would have driven him to what he was doing? He still professes (to another criminal) that he didn't kill his sister. So, he must have been there when the fatal shot was fired.

We still don't know how Santi's dad's gun got to the accident scene. Did Vic bring it from his home or did Caro bring it from her home? We still don't know how that gun went travelling.

Alfredo--I had revisited this episode earlier, so here is what I saw in Epi#52: "Raquel looks for p.j.s in Santiago's drawers and finds a different kind of pistol instead. Turns out to be Santi's dad's pistol and the only thing that remains from his father and something she cannot ask him to get rid of. He refuses her request to do so." I don't think I would have written it down that way if there had been no pistol in the case. The boys find the gun in the woods in the very next episode, but we don't know how much time elapsed--1 day, 2 or more.

Do we let Cintia off the hook at this point? I'm still bothered by the fact she came to the hospital to see Dam before ever going to see Raquel. That could also have been a red herring because the sisters were alienated at that point. However, when Santi comes to see Raquel in a later episode to tell her everyone is suspect, he tells it to Cin first. Her reaction is one of being very preoccupied by that news. Only through Andres could she have known about the money.

More later, as it occurs to me.

So then was the car/driver that Carolina saw at the checkpoint on the surveillance video Vicente or the third car?

So Possible suspects in the second car (in the order of most likely to least likely - IMO):
1. Andres
2. Fede
3. Mia
4. Fede and Mia
5. Miriam
6. Santi
7. Raquel
8. Nacho

The more I think about it the more I think it has to be Andres. There was a flashback scene where someone is dragging Carolina's body, it showed large hands with gloves, only Andres fits that description. Possibly Fede. But would he have left his father to die, not likely. OMG this is getting so good, must see TV tonight for sure.

Sandie: Raquel signing those documents with Andres & his co-conspirator right there was DISAPPOINTING. I was like, "WTH are you doing Redhead ?"

Anita: Should we include Cinthia as a possible suspect in the Carolina Assassination ?

UA: My list of suspects in the Carolina Assassination:

1.) Andres

2.) Nora Gaxiola 2.0

3.) Fede

4.) Miriam AKA Mommy Dearest Becker

5.) Santi: I just do NOT trust him yet.

6.) Raquel: the revelation of the affair & other things might have caused her to snap.

7.) Nacho

8.) Psychopath Juan

9.) Cinthia: Possible Suspect

10.) WILD CARD

Sandie, I thought the jeans discounted Andres when I first saw that flashback. Probably silly in retrospect, but I can't see him dirtying his hands for much. Except perhaps a fortuen.

To be honest, that was the first time I felt Fede was a suspect...I really never suspected Nico. I thought could he really kill his mother? I could see Fede murdering because of his mother.

I wonder if we will know tonight.

Diana

For now I've ruled out Nacho and Santiago since they've already served time but that still doesn't explain the gun ending up at the scene of the crime. I don't think Cinthia had a motive.

I'm having second thoughts about something though: When Santiago was arrested and Raquel went to see him (I think it was the first time she went while still a bit loopy from her breakdown) she says something like "I know it wasn't you." he then questions HOW she knows. Was it her mental state talking or was she actually making perfect sense and therefore knows who the killer is?

Thank you Anita, this was exguisite.

Now, let me say: Santi Santi Santi.
Stupid Stupid Stupid Santi. More on Him later.

Raquel Raquel Raquel, none thinKing
Raquel. Her nor santi are seeing clear
Or thinking clear. Which is very very surprising to me. For Raquel. She knows
Andres is a cockroach, why is she trusting him? When it comes to him coming with a buyer and papers and something for her to sign and she's just taking his word for it, what's up with that? I thought she was smarter than that. I know she's angry but she need to shake the fog out of her brain
Andres only thinks of Andres. And I'll
Bet That money is probably the loot from The cheaters car.

Granny wants out of the rat trap she helped build down through the years.
She's more afraid of going down with
The rest of the rats than anything else.
Have I mentioned I dont like Mia? I'll
Say it again,I don't like Mia.Now her,
They could have let Juan kidnap. But
Instead he annoys somebody that's not going out of way to be an ass to nice
People.

They've managed to come between raq &
Santi(with his help)stupid santi. Now
All that's left to do, alina wiggling
Herself into his pants and as dumb as
He's acting she just might get there.
Is there enough time even left for a
Nasty disaster such as that? I really
Hope not.

That automobile that drove up didn't
Look like a jeep, looked like a sudan.
Something Andres would drive.Maybe It
Will Show again tonight.

Did the skank even tell santi raquel
Called? Or did she delete the call?
They got some of the good guys being dumb. Raquel needs to find out what
Andres is up to and what she really signed over to that cockroach. Santi
Needs to find out about the deal the
Skank made with reuda and andres. Or was it just ruede? Don't matter she a
Ol skank.
I really want to see who steps out of that car/jeep. And anita like you I do
Not want it to be santiago.Andres? Ok.

Thank you Anita. I Hope I read you on
Another tn.

OMG, TF! That's right! I remember that scene.

She stated "I know it wasn't you." In the next episode, she backtraced and said she's sure it wasn't him because she trusts him (or something like that) but I wonder if it was for suspense purposes or she actually knows.

If she did mean it, then that cements Federico or Mia or both in my mind. The scene with the gun, maybe I'm crazy, but it doesn't seem like the gun was there. Either way, Raquel would protect her children from anything so she could very well protect them now. She probably also felt guilty that Santiago and Nacho had to go to prison for something her children did and thus helped them anyway she could.

Exciting possibilties!

I'm hope it's not Andres just because it's too obvious. Vicente is already too obvious but, since he wasn't the only one there, I hope the second driver is a big surprise but within reason. Federico would be perfect, IMHO. Shocking and intense but not out of the realm of possibility.

Regrettably, we can't dismiss Nico, although his motives are weak and it would be hard to connect him to a robbery, but perhaps he got information about where they were going together. What we don't know is whether he can drive. We know Mia and Fede both drive.

Nico told his dad that he knew about his mother cheating 10 days before the accident (Epi #4). Later (Epi #7) he tells his father that he picked up a wrong number from a man’s cell. It was his mother and he could hear she was with another man. He never told anybody for fear telling might tear the family apart. If he'd said something none of this would have happened.

Thanks Anita!!

I'm still banking on Mia being the one in the car. Fede doesn't need to follow because he knows the truth already. Vince couldn't find the money in the car after the accident so I'm betting Andres removed it from the car prior to Dam leaving. He would have no reason to follow at that point.

Raq and Santi are driving me crazy. Oh how I want Mia to suffer. And what has happened to our physical therapist?

Carvivlie: We're going to find out soon later tonight as the flashbacks of Carolina's murder continue to get revealed.

Yes it is!

Anita: thank you for reminding us about Nico's knowledge of his mother's indiscretions. What reason would there have been for Nico to know about the affair if not for him to take action, but to kill his mother? I don't see him doing that, Damian yes but his mother? I do think that the butt dial was early on in the affair though not 10 days before the accident, or was it 10 days before?

Sandie--he said 10 days before the accident. I don't think Nico went to kill his mother intentionally. Never. But maybe HE followed Mia out (or hidden in the back seat), afraid she WAS going to try something. Sorry, folks, too much overthinking.

If we take Raquel at her word that she KNEW Santi hadn't killed Caro, maybe that's why she's been so fragile lately, especially after Santi was kept in jail for so long. If she followed Dam out there, maybe there was nothing she could do except watch, but she certainly would know it wasn't Santi--if it were one of the others.

OTOH, neither Santi nor Raq were anywhere near the site--unless the timeline is fooling us and they were in their respective beds some other time.

Thank you Anita, I had completely forgotten that Nico knew something was up, and kept it to himself.

If Nico had confronted Carolina or told Santiago, Carolina would've gaslighted Nico. The affair wouldn't have stopped and it wouldn't have stopped because Carolina didn't want it to stop.

Anon207: You're really saying she never wanted the escapades to stop.

While deep down Carolina never wanted the escapades to stop, I think she tried a lot harder than Damian did to stop the affair. She cut off communication multiple times but Damian was a drug she couldn't quit.

No, Carolina didn't want the escapades to stop deep down & she would've gaslighted Nico to protect herself. In the end, Carolina was running away with Damian to start a new life in the United States. If she could leave behind her baby, she definitely would've gaslighted her oldest son.

Santiago and Nico last night showed that everyone in that family is all the same. They love to victimize themselves and make others the problem when things go awry, forgetting that they also brought themselves the problem to begin with.

Anon--truer words have not been communicated. If you are the same Anon, I wish you would sign your comments. It doesn't have to be a real name--just so we know it's the same Anon and not 15 different other Anons. You can still use Anonymous said...

Boo Hoo--They left us in suspense as to who Garrido could have seen. The ONLY person he knows in town (through Vic) is Andres. Will wait until we have a recap to discuss anything else.

During the early discussions it was repeatedly pointed out that Carolina was never shown being maternal toward Benjamin. That she would have gaslit Nico fits right in with that.

By this time she was looking to leave everything behind, as though she were going to become someone else entirely. This leaves us to ponder how Damian would have seen her a few months down the road. He was looking all along to be in Benjamin's life for the previous two years, so would he have had a conscience about leaving him and the others? How would that have affected his relationship with Carolina?

That is an excellent question, Urban.

As much as they may deny it, half of the attraction Carolina and Damian had was because it was forbidden. Would they look at each other the same if they didn't have to hide and could live a normal relationship?

I agree with Anon about the Alvardo family too. And not just them, but a lot of people in this story. Most of the time, we are in a position or a dilemma that is of our own doing. Taking responsibility or crying in a corner is something we can all do, but which one we chose to do is what shows who we truly are.

Andres taking the money beforehand seems like the better possibility. I hope it's not Andres in the second car.

Alfredo, I agree that Carolina did appear to try harder to stop the affair than Damian.

While I very much respect everyone's opinions, I recall quite a few scenes where Caro was very loving and maternal toward Benji, granted, most of them early on.

I do think that she was too saturated in her affair and that sadly, it became her priority. I do not think she would ever have done anything to hurt Nico.

And please correct me if I am wrong, but we don't know for a fact that Caro and Damian were leaving to start a new life, do we? I keep remembering "two days", etc.

I would add a few more things but I will wait until the recap is up.

Diana

Diana: Damian knew they were leaving to the US, he had mentioned it to Carolina. He wanted to start a new life with her and she was willing to do this if she asked for a divorce. More later.

This is true, Sandie. Damian, while having serious and legit reasons for not asking for a divorce, has essentially threw Carolina under the bus because she was able to ask for one from Santiago. Oh, man, oh, man. Will she backtrack or move forward even if Damian doesn't at this time?

Diana--You are correct. He told Carolina all he wanted was two days.
Sandie--I think Damian had ulterior motives. I think those two days were to talk her into staying in the States and starting that "new life," he claimed he wanted. Were my ears not hearing last night or did the Fede/Azucena convo say something about Paris? It didn't sound like Miami, which is where he originally said they were going (while driving in the first scene).

Yes, quite a contrast between Dam's obsessive desire to be with his child and the ability to walk off without him and make Caro walk away from him, too. Maybe in his twisted mind, AFTER they were settled in the States, he could send for Benji. HA!

I know I promised not to discuss last night's epi until the recap was up, but this is not a spoiler, per se. I have to go out and won't be back until evening.

When discussing who took the missing money, Azucena told Federico that the plan was that Carolina and Damian would spend a few days in the love shack (I can't remember if she said two?) and then they would leave for the United States. I thought that implied that they were leaving for good.

Anon @ 11:46:00

I think if the children were younger, Damian might feel bad about leaving them behind. But Lola, Nico, Mia & Fede are all of age and Damian probably figured they'd be alright. After all, Damian wrote in the note Raquel found that she, Mia & Fede were "obstacles" to Damian's happiness.

What is surprising is they left Benjamin behind, but I think they figured they would come back to Mexico to collect Benjamin and Santiago would just hand him over. If Damian & Carolina thought they could run out on their families and just swoop back in to snatch up Benjamin with no consequences, they were very delusional.

I think it's more likely that Damian thought they could just come back to Mexico to collect Benjamin & skip back to their happy lives, while Carolina knew she was giving up her children for good. Which really didn't matter because they were impediments

What's surprising is they left Benjamin behind in the first place but bringing a toddler along kind of interrupts hot sex so there ya go.

I don't think Damian would've thought badly of Carolina for leaving Nico & Lola behind because he didn't feel bad about leaving Mia & Fede behind. But I think he WOULD have looked at her sideways if she had no interest in reclaiming Benjamin.

Thanks, New Anon. You join our perennial favorite, Anon207, who took the handle many years ago.

Henceforth you will be recognized as Anon1146 or Anon@1146--your choice. Is that OK? Too bad this tn is about to end so soon. Will you be watching the new one at 10...after they wasted about 6 minutes of our beloved CET with a promo for Amar Sin Ley?

Yea, I guess Anon@1146 is ok. Thanks.

I'll probably watch the new one, and maybe by then I'll have a proper name. This one seems like it has an interesting cast. Altair Jarabo doesn't seem to come up in novelas often.

Anon@1146

Damain and carolina are full of themselves. They are two of the most
Selfish people. They don't care about
Her kids or his kids. And benji was
Just an oops.Never intended to happen.
The way she just passed him off to Lola. Santi was being more maternal to
Benji than Carolina. And when they took
Him it was like someone had ripped his heart Out. And when Carol told santi she wants a devorsio, she didn't act like she was Loosing much at all.Swoop back In and take benji, the hell they will. Of course that won't happen now, she's Worms And he's physically unable. Plus benji Calls santi daddy. Cuz he is. Damian Didn't say "You take benji and come go With me to America". Didn't mention benji. At all.

More after the recap.
