Papa a Toda Madre #26 2.20.18: Beware of Dressing Rooms with Cloth Partitions...

Or "You Want to Talk About This in Public?"

Tono and Mauricio quickly cover up Carola’s body as the children approach and ask them what they are doing. Tono explains that he is helping Mauricio plant his plant but the children ask him why, as he doesn’t like him, and Tono explains that neighbors must get along. Mauricio goes along with his story, though he gives Tono a death glare, and Tono asks the children to go play elsewhere. Fidel states that he misses Carola but Rafael goes to him and assures him he will find a new dog for them as Carola is with new owners. Tono then asks the kids if they want to go watch a movie and they leave, as does Rafael, as Anifer comes and brings Mauricio his gloves. She then tries to help but Mauricio asks her to direct his actions, only, and he can get his hands dirty. He sends her to stand at least 10 ft away and continues to dig around Carola’s body to plant Anifer’s plant.

As Neron and Pablo walk around town and look for a job, Pablo wonders how much longer it will take. Neron tells him they have to be careful, as he is undocumented, and they shouldn’t settle. Pablo offers to clean around the cul-de-sac, as a handyman of sorts, but Neron doesn’t know if they can pay him. Just then, Rodrigo arrives and reveals that he heard Pablo talk so he asks Pablo his age and where he comes from. Neron visibly tenses as does Pablo.

In the apartment, Baldo chides Jorge for only calling them on their birthday, and barely even then, but Jorge ask them to give him a chance as he is trying to pay for all the mistakes he made. Lili thinks that’s fine but their mother won’t be able to experience this so she wants him to tell her picture. She puts the frame in front of him but Jorge is at a loss for words. Baldo reveals that Yuriria only loved him, as she never married or had a boyfriend, though Jorge is shocked by the news. He explains that he had to keep his promise to marry Dulce, though he didn’t live the life he expected, and Yuriria was happy being a mother. After a moment, Jorge offers to give them his last name but the twins don’t think it’s enough. Jorge explains that, though he wasn’t physically there, he was always helping them and their mother but the twins look unsure.

Rodrigo continues to grill Pablo on his accent and Neron immediately comes to his defense, stating that he is from out of town, but Rodrigo doesn’t believe him. He demands to know why he pretended to be mute and Pablo explains that he is just shy, in his best Chiapas accent. Neron tries to defuse the situation by thanking Rodrigo for the baptism lunch and Rodrigo asks him to thank his husband, Rafael, as it was his idea. Neron nods as Rodrigo bids them goodbye, convinced of their story for the moment, and Neron tells him that it was a close one.

Over lunch, Renee and Anifer look down on their luck as Mauricio asks them what the problem is. He tries to also make a couple of joke, to liven the mood, but they don’t go over well. After a few moments, Mauricio asks Renee to go to the kitchen to ask her what the problem is. Renee shakes her head and asks if he found out why Anifer looks mad. Mauricio has no idea so Renee reveals that Anifer hates the idea of Kika as a potential stepmother. Mauricio thinks it’s ridiculous, as he is not marrying Kika tomorrow, but Renee wonders why he gave Kika the necklace with the ‘M’ if he wasn’t serious about their relationship. Mauricio wonders if she asks for Anifer or herself but Renee blows a gasket and wonders how he can be so cruel and hurtful, as he gave Anifer’s mother the same necklace, before storming out of the kitchen because Mauricio just doesn’t “get it.”

In her hotel room, Kika calls her sister, Charytin, to bet her $5,000 US that she will have Mauricio eating out of the palm of her hand in a short while. Charytin prefers $6,000 US and then asks Kika if she has won Anifer over yet. Kika doesn’t want to think about it but is sure Anifer will be on her side too, soon enough. Charytin wonders if she has any competition for Mauricio but Kika shakes her head as the insignificant maid is the only woman close to Mauricio. Kika then asks about her parents but her ride is there so she tells Charytin that she has to go. Her sister asks if she’s going out with Mauricio but Kika tells her she is not. Charytin warns her not to play with fire, as her vengeance plan could fall apart, and Kika assures her it won’t before hanging up.

The Barrientos’ children sit on the couch and tell Tono that they miss Carola so much. Tono explains that Carola was not for them, but another pet will come in the future that is for them, and it will be special. As his children consider this, Tono sighs deeply and rolls his eyes.

After lunch is finished, Mauricio asked Renee to go clean the plates but notices her faces and instead offers to clean everything up himself. Renee then starts sorting through a box of Basco’s things as Mauricio comes back and asks Anifer to tell him what is wrong. She prefers to play with his tablet though and runs off as soon as Mauricio gives it to her. Renee can’t believe he can’t talk to his daughter, as a father, and instead prefers to pawn her off on the tablet. Mauricio asks her not to nag him anymore so Renee tells him that they have to look through this box and see if there is anything they can use for Logatoys. Mauricio asks her to throw everything out instead and walks away.

As Valentina sees one of Kika’s videos, Jorge tries to give Neron ideas on where to go find a job. He offers to help Neron anyway he can and Neron thanks him. Neron then asks about Dulce and Valentina lowers the volume on her computer to hear. Jorge asks Neron to be quiet but Neron thinks Valentina is in her own head. Neron asks him then if he found out anything about his friend’s dad but Jorge tells him he didn’t have time and is sorry. Neron shrugs but thinks it’s strange as Logatoys hasn’t sent an employee on a trip in a long time but Jorge thinks it was important. Valentina considers this information carefully.

That night, Anifer is still playing on the tablet when Mauricio comes in and demands she give him the tablet because she has to go to sleep as she has school tomorrow. Anifer doesn’t want to go or give up the tablet but Mauricio asks her to tell him why she has been so grumpy lately. Anifer explains that she doesn’t want to go to school because her mother will come back soon and she doesn’t want to bounce from school to school. Mauricio considers this but wonders if she will leave him alone. Anifer reminds him that he has Kika and he wanted her to leave also but Mauricio tells her that he spoke to Maria and she likes the school he chose. Anifer stomps her foot and tells him she’s not going anymore until her mother tells her she can, personally.

In her room, Renee looks over the blueprints for the robot and then goes to the box of Bosco’s things. He finds a picture of Mauricio with his mother and father as well as another one of Bosco with his shareholders. Just then, Mauricio walks in and asks Renee for another favor: pretend to be Maria, again, so that they can convince Anifer to go to school. Renee tells him no but Mauricio throws him on the floor to beg.

In the kitchen, Tono asks Veronica if she thinks he did the best thing for Carola. Veronica is barely paying attention, as she’s tired, but then asks Tono if he’s going to the PTA meeting at Fidel’s. Tono doesn’t know why he has to go but Veronica asks him to please go she has a lot of things to do now. Tono looks around and offers to do the dishes, so Veronica can go rest, and she takes him up on his offer. Tono regrets his decision to help almost immediately.

Sometime later, Renee has set up the webcam to talk to Anifer, like before, and Mauricio thanks her over and over for her help. Mauricio then notices some VHS tables in his father’s box and Renee asks him to go over everything though Mauricio prefers to throw everything away. Renee reminds him that the videos and photos are now Anifer’s too and he shouldn’t deprive her of getting to know her family. Mauricio considers this but doesn’t have anything to play a VHS on. Renee tells him that he can borrow hers but Mauricio seems clueless on how to use one.

In Samuel’s room, Valentina tells him about her suspicions that Jorge lied about his trip but Samuel could care less as everyone lies. She then leaves in a huff and it is revealed Samuel has been chatting with someone online. They ask him something and he takes off his jacket to reveal a hand shaped bruise on his left arm. He takes a picture and types out a text: “I already finished my first challenge. Here’s a picture to show you all that I am serious.”

Veronica goes to take out the garbage and runs into Renee. They meet at the gazebo and Veronica admits that she’s happy at her new job but is frustrated because Tono still doesn’t take care of the house like he should. Renee admits that she’s equally frustrated with Mauricio’s antics but loves Anifer very much. Renee then shows her an old magazine and they laugh at some of the hairstyles before showing her a picture of Bosco Lopez Garza with the Brauns. Renee deduces that the little girls in the photo are Charytin and Kika Braun, Mauricio’s current girlfriend. Veronica can’t understand why Renee cares so much, unless she’s jealous, and Renee shakes her head but Veronica is unconvinced.

Mauricio has finally gotten the VHS in the player but can’t bring himself to press play. After a few fault starts, he turns on the video and sees his father on the screen. Bosco explains that the future is uncertain so he made these videos so he knows how important he is to him. Mauricio gets teary eyes at the sight of his father.

Renee tells Veronica that she could care less about Mauricio, especially after how he left her jobless but Veronica doesn’t believe one word. Renee explains that their relationship is strictly professional, as she's been able to save money by renting out her place and living with him, but Veronica thinks she’s hiding her true feelings. Renee reiterates that she doesn’t have time for love but Veronica is sure she likes him, even if she won’t admit it. Renee finally relents and admits she likes Mauricio, despite everything, she likes him. Veronica smiles wide.

At the club, Kika thanks Fabian for the funniest time and the best margaritas but Fabian is worried about Mauricio because he’s betraying his trust. Kika reminds him that she has nothing formal or exclusive with Mauricio so Fabian thinks he has a chance. Kika asks him to give it his best shot and Fabian kisses her. After a moment, Kika asks him to stop and Fabian realizes that Kika loves to be in control. She tells him that she is always in control and they toast to their fun night.

Renee makes it clear that she likes Mauricio, not loves, and then tells Veronica that she needs to stop talking because she has a lot of work to do about her project, which is due soon. Veronica tries to follow Renee, to find out more about her crush on Mauricio, but Renee jokes that she needs to concentrate on her project and walks way before Veronica can tease her some more.

Mauricio looks through more videos of his father and mother, spending time with them and playing with them, with tears in his eyes. In one video, Bosco tells the camera that he started Logatoys because he hopes Mauricio will take over the company and converse his playful spirit forever. Renee comes back home then and Mauricio wipes the tears in his eyes. Renee apologizes for interrupting but Mauricio shakes his head and thanks her for keeping his father’s things. He then goes to bed and Renee wonders if Mauricio is finally changing.

The next morning, Renee sends her project to Wilma and they are both happy that she finished in time. Renee wonders how long it will take for the University but Wilma asks her to be patient and work on her thesis in the meantime; she also has to study for the entrance exam. Renee thanks Wilma for her help and hangs up so she can get started on breakfast and get Anifer to school. She chugs down some coffee then and goes to wake up Anifer.

As Valentina prepares breakfast, Jorge tells her that he won’t be picking them up that afternoon. Valentina nods and Jorge screams for Samuel to hurry. Samuel comes running then and Jorge notices the bruises on his arm but he can’t get an explanation out of Samuel, who runs out the door the very next moment.

At home, Tono and his children scream for breakfast as Veronica comes running and chides Tono for not waking her. She then tells the children that Tono will feed them and leaves as the children demand Tono make pancakes. Tono promises to try but can’t promise anything and goes to the kitchen. After a few moments, Fidel screams that he already has a bet but his siblings don’t know what he’s talking about.

Over breakfast, Anifer declares that she is not going anywhere until she speaks with her mother but Mauricio has had it up to here with her attitude. He wonders where he will stash her all day, as he has to go to Logatoys and see Kika, and Renee offers to take care of her before yawning big. Mauricio asks her why she is so tired and Renee explains the purpose of her all-nighter. She then tells Mauricio not to worry about his meeting with Kika and reveals that she saw a picture of his family and her family in an old society magazine. Mauricio isn’t sure it’s here but can’t say more as Kika has arrived. She tells Mauricio that she isn’t there for him right now but for Anifer. Anifer puts up her fists to fight but Kika tells her that she came to invite her for a fashion day so she can buy some new outfits for school. Anifer declares that she isn’t going anywhere if Renee isn’t and Kika lets her come with, though clenched teeth.

Sometime later, at Logatoys, Mauricio declares that he must raise the company from the ashes and make his father proud. Fabian reminds him that they have Kika’s investment as well but Mauricio is unsure; either way, they must hurry and produce new toys as the best selling months are coming up. He then notices Fabian’s face and smiles because he looks like he didn’t sleep and must have a girlfriend. Fabian explains that his girlfriend is insomnia as Jorge comes and announces that Falcon is ready to see them. Mauricio still can’t manage to get Jorge’s name right and Fabian worries about what new mess Mauricio will get them into with Falcon.

At the mall, Kika and Renee grab Anifer each by one hand and lead the way. Kika explains that she has always tried to be fashionable and begins to look for the best outfit for Anifer. Renee tries to get information out of Kika, regarding her and Mauricio, but Kika barely obliges. Instead, she drags Anifer into a store, much to her annoyance and Renee’s.

At Neron’s, Neron cradles Milady as Flor gets him his jacket for his interview. She tells him that she will try to get another gig and wishes Neron luck before kissing him goodbye.

Kika shows Anifer various dresses at the store but Anifer is unimpressed an Renee can only look at the girl, surprised at how clueless Kika is.

At the meeting with Falcon, Mauricio asks him for another loan but Falcon is shocked he would ask for more money after all his recent disasters. Mauricio tells him that he needs the money quickly and he will repay him as soon as Kika invests in the company. Falcon notes that Christmas is just around the corner though so he accepts and Jorge presents him with Mauricio’s terms and conditions for accepting the loan. Falcon reads the contract over very carefully as Mauricio bites his nails.

At this point, Kika has all but given up on Anifer and goes to try on her own outfits but not before instructing Renee to help Anifer try on something because the dresses they saw were very beautiful and expensive. As she leaves, Renee rolls her eyes with Anifer at Kika’s antics.

Moments later, Kika walks into a dressing room and talks with Charytin on her phone. Renee and Anifer walk into another one close by but Anifer tells Renee that the dresses she chose are too big. Renee nods and goes to look for another one but passes by Kika’s dressing room and overhears her conversation. Kika tells Charytin that she will never forgive Mauricio for breaking her heart and she won’t invest one, red cent in Logatoys either. In fact, Mauricio is going to pay for what his family did to their father and her revenge is going to be very public and spectacular. Renee stands outside the dressing room, mouth agape…

Thank You Mister A. Hey it is late, but I noticed something and I will have forgotten it by morning. In the previews where the kids are having a party, it appears, and Val is preening as she does a selfie, I see the Tijuana Twins also. I had not noticed that until tonight.

Thanks AAA. Wonderful as always. I am still stuck on trying to figure out the purpose of the dreadful Carola story. The only explanation I can come up with is that in most Latino countries, pets are not a big deal like they are in the States and Great Britain. Most dogs are street dogs. There would not be a lot of information of what food is good for them and what food is toxic. So this was another MESSAGE. And of course now we're getting another MESSAGE about the dangers of the internet for vulnerable, lonely teens with the Samuel story. Hopefully the writers will keep coming up with attractive packaging around these Life Lessons so viewers will continue to watch.

Have a great day Patio! Flood warnings here in Ohio where the rain continues to fall.

Thank you , Alfredo, for that excellent retelling.

So..Kika's revenge against Maur has something to do with what his family did to her father. Did they steal a toy idea from him?

I have had enough of Tono. Idiot. How did he ever wind up with a smart, beautiful woman like Vero ?

Meanwhile, Renee is going to build a robot from those old instructions and save Logatoys with her smarts. Brains vs lips and hips. I kind of like the idea. Strong women like math. Kika is certainly an equal opportunity kisser.

Good morning, Judy. No rain here yet. The rain will arrive here tomorrow . High today is 70. I never know what to wear , so I opt for layers to put on and off as needed.

The messages continue like a long after school special. Uh oh..speaking of school, it is time to wake up two little girls and get them ready fo school.

Alfredo, you spun silk out of air.

Your recap was infinitely more interesting than the show. Well done as always!

Outside of angel Milady, my favorite scene was Anifer’s little fists of fury ready to do battle with Kika. Love that kid.

Renee's fondest wish is for Mauricio to grow up. There are miniscule changes. I think Mau has always had a heart, he just doesn't know how to use it. There is stil more to be done "Mauricio still can’t manage to get Jorge’s name right". He is oblivious to most around him. I wouldn't call it pure arrogance but it is close enough.

I'm fairly certain Rodrigo knows exactly what is what. Unlike that fool Tono who is selfish and clueless. Not a good combination.

Yes, Renee will surely save the day. "Brains vs lips and hips" - perfecct Susanlynn!

And Samuel. What mess has he gotten himse4lf into now? I hated seeing those bruises. Now that Jorge has, he better intervene and do somthing.

Kirby, yes, I noticed the twins in the opening as well. Guess they will be melded into the family. Eventually.

Judy, I really hope if the family does get another dog, Tono is not allowed to have anything to do with it. You can't fix stupid. I hope everyone there stays safe and dry!

Alfredo, thank you for another excellent outing.

Diana

Hey all! Good Morning! I finally figured out, thanks to you all, why this novela keeps grating my nerves. It's the whole after school special feel of the thing. Doble Vida used the same exploits but it combined it with excellent acting, a good pace, and a genre bending story that was exciting ever episode.

Here, we have after school special storylines but the writing is not as strong and I can't figure out some things for the life of me. Everyone can agree Tono is the biggest one of all.

Poor Carola. This was very cruel and Tono burying her in the same place his children play is just sick.

Also, what the hell Kika? Unless her plan was for Renee to hear so she can tell Mauricio and then make Renee look bad by acting innocent, how can she talk about her plan so close to Renee and Anifer. Dumb.

Glad Renee finished her design. I want to see her go to Maryland and have Mauricio follow, if he really wants to be with her, and have them come back to Mexico together. However, it's ironic that Bosco wanted Mauricio to remain a child forever, for Logatoys, but Renee needs him to grow up if they have any chance. Their slow romance is finally clicking and it was the best part of the episode.

Alfredo, thanks for another outstanding recap!

Diana, I also got a kick out of the “tiny fists of fury”.

Susanlynn, yes, Verónica’s tolerance of Toño is unbelievable at this point. He was beyond annoying once again when he and the kids were pounding on the table to get breakfast. Not funny.

JudyB, interesting comment about culture and its impact on attitudes towards pets. I don’t think that Toño knew chocolate was poisonous for dogs. Maybe this was a PSA.

The visual of Anifer walking hand in hand with Renée and at the same time being dragged along uncomfortably by Kika said it all.

Was this show originally scheduled for 3 in the afternoon? I mean we are all enjoying it and all, but are we sure we are the target audience? They haven't covered reverse mortgages or cremation scams yet, I just wonder.

Anyway remember my thoughts yesterday as to whether Kika had the horsepower upstairs to win against Anifer of the fearsome fists and Renee who DOES shave? It isn't looking real positive for Ms Einstein in the short dress.

As it turns out, the Braun and Costco (or whatever Mau is), families were close, so Mau has to remember Kick and is lying, or he just plain is not hitting on all eight cylinders. That would be like forgetting you had a sibling.

I have been trying to dream up a fair punishment for Toro, but he is a tough one, as he is so shallow nothing is important to him, except not having to work. He cares none about his looks, so that's out, and the wife and kids, he is pretty nonchalant about them too. They all just seem to be an annoyance he constantly has to work through. I kinda liked Cynthia's idea of his having to live with R&R, but they are both too nice and seem committed to one another, so that is out. Maybe Carola can come back as a big Hershey's Ghost?

Maybe the family can get another dog, but a big German Shepherd or Pit which the kids and Vero love, but which hates Toro with a passion, and spends it's every waking hour plotting ways to torment him, bite him, give him fleas, and make him clean up after the dog's capricious bowel adventures.

My Eagle: "Father, Thank You for this delicious fish you have provided my family. May your blessing nourish my ravenous chicks and keep them off my ass for a few minutes while I catch my breath."

"Amen"

:-)

Alfredo, great minds think alike.? :-)

"It's the whole after school special feel of the thing". That's it Alfredo! Slow as molasses.

Jarifa, I'm not generally prone to "what if's" but I can say with confidence that if I had kids who pounded on the table, they would not be sitting there long nor would they be eating!! Ack.

"They haven't covered reverse mortgages or cremation scams yet" made me laugh out loud Kirby. BUT your "Maybe the family can get another dog, but a big German Shepherd or Pit which the kids and Vero love, but which hates Toro with a passion" was a grand idea! Love it. Almost as much as today's incredible avatar.

I'm glad we are having fun today. 70's here in MA today but snow tomorrow afternoon. Sigh.

Diana

Alfredo, I think this is playing out as the average comedy telenovela with lots of funny to the point of silly with nothing too offensive. If you miss a few scenes, an episode or two, no big deal. I agree with the “after school special” feel but I don’t see that as necessarily a bad thing. I tire of the high drama novelas so this is a nice break for me.

Diana, I am all in on non-stop fun! We are up to 35 today. Not too bad. No flooding in my neck of the woods.

RIP The Reverend Billy Graham.

Thank you, Alfredo.

The scene where Renee became frustrated with Mau about his inability to understand Ani was funny. Renee was wielding the fork like a sword. Mau had to dodge the fork movements. There was rice flying all over. When she ordered to move over, he obeyed immediately.

After Renee offered to make tea after breakfast Mau told her "No, thanks, you may leave now" like he would have said to a maid in his old life. Noticing Renee's threatening look, he quickly apologized and scrammed to wash the dishes.

Renee walking in on Mau watching videos, seeing him emotional, is another step moving her closer to him.

Diana, "Anifer’s little fists of fury ready to do battle with Kika" - she has had enough of cheek pinching.

"Reverse mortgages and crenation"... Ha. Well, they just might go there if they run out of messages to send us. Do they have a list of issues they think the public needs to be were of?

What has Sam gotten himself into online now? And what is Kika blathering on about that Val is so interested in ?

I realize that Tono is supposed to be the comic relief , but he isn't funny ,and I feel more stressed than relieved whenever he is on the screen doing his next dumb thing.

Lucio...I was fearful than someone was going to lose an eye when Renee was jabbing that fork around. Be careful with utensils could be another PSA.

Sorry for my typos. D#*$& tablet is fighting me all the way this morning.

Diana, I have to say that I get a kick out of Ani holding up those "little fists of fury" whenever Kika approaches her, and the look on her little face. Ani totally has the Kika's number...phony baloney with a phony phone.

Good Morning, Patio Pals!

Mr. AAA, thank you for your most excellent recap!

I couldn't believe Mau covered for Tonto, but maybe this is supposed to be the start of a new friendship? Don't know why Mau would even bother.

Diana, "Renee's fondest wish is for Mauricio to grow up. There are miniscule changes. I think Mau has always had a heart, he just doesn't know how to use it." Well stated...I second that! And ""Anifer’s little fists of fury ready to do battle with Kika" Tha was really cute...loved "fists of fury" Who was the Bruce Lee fan here?

It is really baffling to me as to why the writer's insist on Mau not learning Jorge's name. It was funny in the beginning; now, not so much. If Mau can learn everyone else's name, why not Jorge's.

JudyB, I think the only reason the writers may have had to bring in the dog was to kick off some type of relationship between the neighbors and Rafael. ANd of course, for that scene with the boss's daughter Carola. Once that was done the writers probably didn't want a dog around any more so they thought of a PSA...maybe based on one of their own personal experiences...who knows!

Susy, "So..Kika's revenge against Maur has something to do with what his family did to her father. Did they steal a toy idea from him?" I was wondering the same thing! ANd if they were contemplating being associates, how did that make Fabian's father feel...maybe jipped? and Fabian also wants revenge because his father was jipped...and he feels jipped too? Maybe that's why Fabian is after KIka, not necessarily because he likes her, but to have something Mau wants???

Kirby, "As it turns out, the Braun and Costco (or whatever Mau is), families were close, so Mau has to remember Kick and is lying, or he just plain is not hitting on all eight cylinders. That would be like forgetting you had a sibling." I thought the same thing! Maybe not the exact same wording as you used but the same idea :-)

Kirby, I had noticed the twins in the opening some time back. There are also some other kids in that same clip...so does Jorge have more children? or are those just friends of his kids?

Starting in the mid 70s and heading to the mid 80s here in the RGV.

Love the pic, Kirby, and the caption is perfect!

Oh and Lucio, "The scene where Renee became frustrated with Mau about his inability to understand Ani was funny. Renee was wielding the fork like a sword. Mau had to dodge the fork movements. There was rice flying all over. When she ordered to move over, he obeyed immediately." I noticed the rice...too funny! And Mau obeying immediately shows who will be the dominant one in that relationship!

Oh gosh I just had a thought...I hope Renee and Mau don't become another Veronica and Tonto!

RgvChick, very funny!

If Fab grew up with Maury , and Kika and Sis were also around then , it is interesting that neither Fab nor Maury remember her. Hubba and I went to the same school, but I never noticed him until we were teens. Perhaps little boys do not notice little girls , and little girls change into beautiful, sometimes unrecognizable swans. Sometimes at class reunions you do not recognize people you grew up with.

Chickie..ew..one Vero and Tono is more than enough. I hopeo that Maury's hero's journey transforms him into a better man ...and a much better man than Tono. Isn't it interesting that the show has all these working women and men trying to figure out how to take care of their kids while mom is at work ...or gone (Dulce, Yuri, Maria) Also, money, the lack of it, and how to get it is a prominent theme.

Kirby..love the photo of that regal eagle . They truly are majestic creatures.

Susanlynn: I hope they destroy Mauricio.

Good morning, everybody! Alfredo, thank you for the great job you did with this episode!

I hope we are all still enjoying this show, I know I am. Even Toño. He's a world class jerk, and that can get tiring after a while, and I don't understand why he does half the things he does, but still funny. The writers have painted a picture of a nice, but immature to the point of childish, husband with Toño. I hope they know where they are going with it.

Jarifa, "I tire of the high drama novelas so this is a nice break for me." Yep, same here. And there are some sweet developments, Mau and Anifer, Mau and Renee, that could have been just hackneyed and silly if it weren't for all the other nonsense that allows time for things to develop.

Renee is cuter every time I see her.

Jarifa, I agree . I get enough violence and mayhem on the news. I gave up on the 10 o'clock tn after a few weeks. Too depressing.

So, does anyone have a theory about who is scheming with whom?..Fab, falcon, Kika, Juan, maybe not dead Maria. Separate schemers or a conspiracy? Why does everyone hate Maury? I think Fab is just jealous of the poor little rich boy whom he has had to babysit his whole life. Kika is in it for the sweet revenge...because she has not been told that the best revenge is a happy life.

Also, has Dulce disappeared with her criminal client forever , or is she going to reappear?

So old Bocso Costco must have cheated Mr Braun out of some grand idea or something and Mr. Braun probably whacked himself or something. Of course this has less than zero to do with the modern day Mauricio, but that is beside the point.

So we can believe that those things turned poor little Kika into the Philandering Phloozie she is today and she wants revenge.

TN Gods work in mysterious ways to right the world's wrongs, so I'm just going with it.

Let's see, we have covered:
Pubic breast feeding
Maritial Jealousy
Family abandonment
Possessive Male Chauvanists
Out of Wedlock Procreation
Masturbation
Pubescent alcohol use
Evil Nuns and Priests
What did I miss?

I'm waiting for flatulence, stealing, and Proactive

Did Sammy bruise his arm looking for that palm hair?

Rio Chickie, "Oh gosh I just had a thought...I hope Renee and Mau don't become another Veronica and Tonto!"

Never fear, you had the answer yourself, "And Mau obeying immediately shows who will be the dominant one in that relationship!"

So if Mau gets out of line Renee can crack the whip, or maybe threaten him with a fork.

:-)

Susy I think it is like 'the perfect storm' against Mauricio. He is just so funny and good looking, and he used to spend time with some pretty choice (looking) women and used to be rich, I think those TN Gods have decided it is time to pay the piper.

And all these haters have just so happened to decide to get even at approximately the same time they decided to make a TV show.

Susanlynn, some very good questions. But what especially pleased me was your pearl of wisdom, "the best revenge is a happy life."

Kirby...well, we have also covered illegal immigration , May\December romance, interior decoration, jewelry gifts, autism, laundry mishaps, gay marriage, robots, freaky cellphones, fashion choices, school curriculum, gardening.

Andy, yes, revenge isn't really sweet ...but a happy life is.

Lord I left out a bunch. Thanks SusanLynn
I was distracted thinking that Olympic Curling looks to have originated before Toys-R-Us, when all you had was some rocks and a frozen lake.

A few years ago even before that stoooopid Ice Bucket challenge swept through the Land of the BrainDead, the junior high and even grammar school kids around here had this 'Ice Cube Challenge'.
The idea was to put copious amounts of salt on your arm, then rub it in with an ice cube, in essence actually freezing the skin and leaving permanent damage. My little pretend daughter next door had better sense than to do anything cray cray, but I saw many of her schoolmates with hideous freezer burns on their forearms. I thought of that when we saw Sammy last night.

Kirby, good thought. Adolescent self-mutilation on a website? Considering Samuel’s age and his need for belonging, that would not surprise me one bit.

Jarifa and Kirby..yikes..is that what Sam is getting into? I ran away from the 10 o'clock show because the one girl was cutting herself. So awful what some of these kids are doing. I had such an idyllic childhood by comparison. ...no drugs, no alcohol no during, no bulimia, ...some bullies, not much money but lots of parties, ice skating, swimming, hiking, hayrides, dances, basketball games. What happened ? So many things to worry about for our kids.

"No during" was supposed to be "no cutting" sorry

I tend to be okay with PSA, to a point. The Maria storyline in Doble Vida had every teenage problem under the sun and that became a problem. Tadeo's was a lot more resolved and that's why I felt it succeeded.

With Valentina, the writers are doing a good job of showing the growing pains of being a teenager but, with Samuel, it was bullying, then porn/masturbation and now some fight club thing or self-mutilation. Pick one and develop it! As it stands it's some weird combination of teen issues without rhyme or reason.

I agree that Renee and Mauricio were both on fire last night with their "love" dance. He will be molded to perfection soon enough. I wonder what Renee will do with the information about Kika. I'm slightly excited for tonight.

Alfredo.. being "slightly excited" is about all we can hope for lately with the tns that we have been given.

Does anyone know what is coming on in the 10 o'clock spot?

Por Amar Sin Ley is starting on March 5th with Ana Brenda, Zepeda and Gil as the leads. It takes place in a law firm and is produced by Guero Castro of the VEA fame.

Thank you, Alfredo.

Alfredo: "As it stands it's some weird combination of teen issues without rhyme or reason. "

Maybe the message is "If your kids grow up never knowing what to expect, then as a parent get ready for some surprises yourself".

Deciphering all this shows ?good? intentions I feel like the TN equivalent of a wine taster who takes one sip and know which area the grapes were grown in and whether it was a spring or fall harvest. :-)

on in the 10 o'clock spot?

Susanlynn, I admit I am not too excited about this year’s telenovela offerings as I was about last year’s.

You saw it first here on Caray.

Curling 'Rocks" ?

Thank you Alfredo, you always cover things so well. I'm just shakin' my head at all the silly things going on with Tono. He needs training more than the dogs do. Kirby, you are right. We shouldn't pawn Tono off on R & R either. I just thought they could teach him some manners, how to keep a house clean, cook, and how to care for animals.

As for Kika, isn't a little early for a big reveal? Do you think that Maur will believe Renee if she tells him what Kika is up to? What is this with Fab, Maur, and Kika? Things are getting a little weird, I fear. A very strange love triangle.

I'm waiting for Jorge to combine all four kids into one big happy family.

Sometimes that Anifer gets on my nerves. Her little voice is irritating sometimes. Does anyone else feel that way about her? She needs to try out for "Annie" or something.

Cynthia, I am sort of ambivalent about Anifer, too. Sometimes the voice is like nails on the chalkboard.

Cynthia: " one big happy family."

Hmmm, maybe the happy part optional? I wish them the best, but it might be a little bumpy at first..

Let's see, Mau didn't rat out Tono, so will Renee rat out Kika? I think she will just because it will vindicate her ongoing mistrust of Kick. And her hidden in plain view feelings for Mau and Anifer will surely add fuel to the fire.

Cynthia.gez, Ni's high pitched voice hurts my ears. Eeeeeee

Between Ani's squeaking and Kika's singsong , lilting accent,I may have to hit the mute button.

Ah, I now see why they were hyping tonight's shows, tomorrow evening is preempted.
