Gracias, Sandie. Great job and I agree that the scene between Lisa and Vicente was very sad. Considering how late in the series it is I felt the possibility of Vicente's death. Here's hoping Fernando can stop him from committing suicide.

If I didn't have to go out in a couple of hours I'd be tempted to watch the opening episode again to try to pinpoint the period of time that Raquel was out of the house. I have a new theory of the crime and if I'm right it would make Andres a lot more brilliant and even more evil. Alas, if I'm right there is no happy ending.

As to the shrink, I think she might be using some clever manipulation by avoiding telling Mia off (which would be what others should have done all along). She is trying to get Mia to understand that her behavior is self-destructive. I think she's also trying to get Mia to see that she is being competitive with Raquel. She is not as attractive as Raquel and has far less "personality" than Raquel does. Did she think that Raquel was being phony or did she just want to be the opposite? At any rate, I think that the shrink is looking for what will work with this incredibly selfish -- and very sick -- girl.
 

UA: Andres will likely get another evil scheme going in the final days.
 

Sandie, perfect title and screen shots. Your recap was exceptional.

"{WHAT! where did this lady get her degree? Give it back}" was my favorite line of many.

Seeing Vicente clean and sober was a small window into the person he might have been had not the many demons in his head and heart continued to choke him. I was very moved by his scenes with Lisa. Believable and heartbreaking.

Rarely am I right in what will happen here, but I did think Vincente was in the house when Godoy was questioning Lisa.

"Mia outside Damian’s room, asks Leandro if Damian will ever walk again". I am wondering the same thing. I also wondered when Damian apologized to Raquel and told her he loved her if he realized he was talking to Raq, not Caro.

After Vincente's (hopefully foiled) suicide attempt, there were two pivotal, chilling mmoments that stood out to me. "Andres continues choking him and says “are you going to dare to say who killed Carolina?" and "Jovita tells Santi that the day of the accident Raquel was gone for a day, she had a crisis and does not know where she went". I think this cements the fact Caro's murderer was either Raquel or one/more of the children. I've never hoped more than I am mistaken.

Mercifully, this was Alina free.

The writing continues to be taut and suspenseful. Not one episode has been a disappointment.

That said, I am ready to learn the truth...

GG has done a brilliant job in portraying the dysfunctional Becker household. I think that Vicente's suicide will succeed as he is the one person who was likely on the scene and could tell what happened. The story continues for a few more days ...

Jovita’s revelation to Santiago changes the game a lot. If Raq was able to leave and return in one piece the night of the accident then clearly she knew where she was going. She had to have left AFTER Damian left but then where were Mia and Fede? Raquel just moved up on suspect list.

The third car is also the key to all of this. If it’s not Andres then Raquel could potentially be the driver or Mia/Fede since they don’t have a clear alibi.

I hope Godoy saves Vicente. That was a really heartbreaking scene between Vicente and Lisa. He was clearly saying goodbye. I don’t know if Lisa fully realized that.

I hope Andres doesn’t succeed in hurting Santiago.
 

What I would like to see in the next (my last recapping) episode is Fernando successfully rescuing Vicente but keeping that from the news. Instead the police will hide him and say that he is dead. That could enable Vicente to tell what he knows which would enable the police to get the case solved.

As for what I think happened:

Raquel had a disassociative episode which she does not now remember. She got out, got to the accident scene, and was in the third car. Andres -- who had taken the money -- sees her, puts the gun into her hand, and coerces her into shooting Carolina. He then takes the gun, wipes off her prints, puts the gun into the hands of the unconscious Damian to get his prints on it, then disposes of it so it will later be found.

He plans on holding this over Raquel's head to force her to accept him as her owner. He will threaten her with Santiago's life being at stake if she refuses. Someone will hear this and take action, but I'm not going to predict whom except that it will not be Mia. Another producer would have her snap out of her apparent hatred of Raquel and remember that Andres molested her (which we are still speculating about) and go after him.

I think the psychologist is trying to get Mia to focus on her life as opposed to her obsession with controlling people. It makes sense because we never see her pursue any interests that don't involve scheming.

Mia hates Raquel because she considers her fake. Remember when Raquel took Mia to the foundation in an early episode?

Now what if Raquel was faking her personality to overcompensate for her dissociative episodes? At times we've seen her carry heavy guilt over her family's mental health issues. She told Carolina that it was difficult being her and keeping up the facade. During the 3 year affair period we saw her change and lose parts of her personality, but what if the woman we saw the entire time was not really her true self?

I think Raquel knew about the affair prior to the accident. The way she asked Carolina not to divorce Santiago was strange. Now paralyzed Damian looks scared whenever he sees her, and I doubt it's cause he was caught.

Now that the police have footage of the third car that means that in the previous footage they saw of Damian and Carolina passing through the toll booth and Carolina seemed to recognize the car next to them, that was likely Vicente. I don’t remember seeing evidence that Vicente was ahead of Damian and Carolina, only Garridos accomplices that threw the rock.

All that’s left is to reveal what happened at the crash site between Damian, Carolina, Vicente, possibly Raquel, and whoever was driving the third car IF it wasn’t Raquel.

Urban, ITA the psyche may be trying to flatter narcissist Mia to gain her trust. Lord knows that first psyche was useless, so hopefully this one has the key to fixing Mia.

Despite extorting Dam and badgering Caro, Vicente has always gotten to me. Caro and Lisa saw his tender side long ago, but he squandered all cause he couldn't deal with killing his father. So now he's returned to the river [the same place he dumped his dad's body?] to do himself in. So sad. Never seen this actor before, but he's sure owned this role.

Dam's not 100 percent in the head. When he says he loves Raquel or calls Caro's name, it's more a stream of consciousness, impulse thing. IMHO, he's kind of floating in the head, back and forth. The other day, when Raquel said to stop speaking of Caro to his children, I flinched because that was cruel. Yes, Dam hurt Raquel, but now he is sick. He was not in control of his brain to speak of Caro to Mia. Raquel's demand was like asking someone with scoliosis to stand up straight. Whoever said Dam should not be recovering under Raquel's care was absolutely right. She is (understandably) too angry and wounded for this. After that scene, for the first time, I thought Silvia Navarro would make a good villain, maybe Raquel did shoot Caro in a fit of rage.
 

Thank you patio amazing insight into the possibility of Raquel being the culprit. It would be so out in left field that I am afraid that it is highly possible. However the gun is what gives me doubt. The only possibility, at this moment from what we know of the gun, is that being Vicente brought it. Raquel did not know about the gun Vicente took from Carolina. So if she did go there she did not have that gun. We are 3 months before in the mast so much more would need to happen for Raquel to get to the point of murder.
 

One more thought. If Raquel was the shooter I hope Carolina saw her, and although harsh punishment for her betrayal Raquel was their victim.

I felt for Vicente, I think he would have been a different person if not for the lousy life he had. I'm reminded that Vicente suffered severe beatings at the hands of his father and he never struck back, he only acted when his father became a danger to Carolina. I think he's full of guilt because but for his actions Carolina would never have been in danger, it almost did me in to see him sitting there stroking her hair and thinking about how much they loved the river as children.

Now we have a new suspect, none of us knew until now that Raquel went missing the night of the accident but not only was she missing, she also had another of her episodes! Don't her episodes normally come about during times of extreme stress? I think that there's a strong possibility that Raquel was our shooter, and I think Andres is trying to protect her that's why he used her as an alibi, it was a way to protect her and himself. I think there's a part of Raquel that remembers what happened, I think that's why there's such a coldness to her when she interacts with Damian, and she did give him the "you're not going to hurt anyone in this family again" speech, I think this may have been her way of telling Damian to keep silent about what happened that night.

Also, I think this story is not so much about the affair but about a broken family and how their mental issues had the power to destroy. Miriam with her abuse of Damian, Mia with her lies and manipulations, Raquel's mental issues- like someone else mentioned, how do we know that the Raquel we saw at the start of this was really the "real" Raquel? Her over the topness, her manic energy, what if that really was a front to keep us from seeing a woman who was really broken and who got no help beyond pills?
 

Yeah there is all that, and anytime there is the murder of the a spouse the other spouse is always suspect #1.
That being said,there is still a list of other people with various grudges
Against these two people that (not on
Purpose) brought out the ugliness in the lives of these people on the list. But I don't trust Andres as far as I can spit him. He's Had it in for his cousin for years. And tho Rachel may have done this and not aware because of her episodes,he could've been just waiting like you or somebody else said to hold it over her head to get her on his side and still covering his own ass cuz that's what he does. And he could be mad with her because she had the nerve to leave him and go with his cousin, he's still holding on to that too probably. I'll actually be glad when this is over.

Raquel could never accept that Damian wanted to leave her. This was the question she asked on numerous occasions. If the guy wants to leave, let him go and establish your own worth. This is something neither she nor her children could do. They desperately hung onto the illusion that they could be a family. Of course, Carolina was complicit but I guess the mental illness in Raquel's family did not allow her to move forward.

At one time GG painted Santiago as murderer to all of us because of his gun, maybe prints too. Dont remember about his prints.

But during that time when Santi was still in jail. Something in the way that Raquel said “I KNOW you didn’t kill Carolina.” So much so that even Santi replied “you know who killed her??” She backtracked.

UA scenario sounds very likely that Andres urged Raquel to shoot, he coulda done it, but no, he wanted her to do it so he could hold that over her head forever and eva. Trouble is, he probably doesnt even know she has mental issues or selective memory.

What freaks me is the way Fede asked Damien “what are you going to say??” When Damien started waking up from coma.

The way I took his telling Raquel “perdon, te amo.” I took it as “perdoname, because he knows his actions and lies are what caused his wife to murder.” (If she did)

“Te amo, because he still loves her, he was not IN love with her, but he loved, cared and respected her as his wife and mother of his children”

I don’t think he will ever forget Caro, but he is not an evil person and will take the fall to protect those he loves from prison.

Liar, cheater, but not evil like Andres.

Wow, I would love for them to have 2 hour gran finale.

 

This just reminds us how bad the police force is. The fact that no one spoke to Jovita about the marriage, where Raq was that might etc. If they had spoken to Jovita Raq would be suspect one. Looks like they didn't interrogate Raq either because she would be unable to account for her whereabouts.

Godoy did not act in time to prevent Vincente from his walk into the water. Unless the water is fairly shallow, Godoy may be too late to save Vincente. This will really set Antonio off

He knows her at least as long as Damian knows her, probably a little longer. He may have seen her in a disassociative state a long time ago. Remember that he and Miriam wanted to use her condition against her with regard to who will run the company?

Andres protects no one but himself. He isn't protecting her in any real sense. If she tries to do anything about this he will use it against her. She may end up in a mental health facility at the end.

I don't think she is "fake" at all. She is basically a good person whose family of origin had lots of issues they never told us about. There could be a brain chemistry issue as well.

Leticia, I read your comment above and I too 'feel dum' about missing if Raquel is the culprit. I did not even know there were such things as a 'dissociative state' so I googled it (!). Not that I know much after reading several articles, especially to say that Raquel suffers from it. But among the various conditions under this general rubric is something called 'dissociative amnesia.' According to one article it can involve a memory loss is caused by a psychological trauma. "The information you forget is often personal and autobiographical. For example, you may forget:
Who you are
Where you went
Whom you spoke to
What you did, thought, or felt during a specific event or situation"

Apparently you need to get into therapy to bring back the memories or events.

So I guess we will have to see if our heroine Raquel suffers from this and was there the night Carolina was murdered (by her!?!). I think we will have to rely on Damian's recollections to trigger Raquel's memory. Boy if this is what's stressful for us next week, hold on to your hats.... But perhaps Andres is really the one. I sure hope he is guilty.

Thanks for the helpful research. Sounds like scary stuff. There is something about the way Damien is approaching her. Since he knows about her condition perhaps he knows that Raquel does not remember, but he probably does. The way I see him with her is not so much as a dog with tail between his legs, but treading very carefully.
UA you are right, Andres does not care for anyone but his own self. Even Vincente who blackmailed his own sister cares about his loved ones. He was abusive but alcohol and his guilt got in the way of him being a good husband and brother. Oh, and he was also beaten regularly by his father.



 

Leticia: I'm betting Andres killed Carolina & still believe from the get-go.
 

Andres is responsible if he took advantage of Raquel's disassociative state by putting the gun in her hands and inciting her to shoot. This is his revenge for her dumping him years ago for Damian, just as putting Damian's prints on the gun would be his revenge on Damian for getting Raquel and the family business.
 

Andres is the most logical choice which is why I don't think he did it himself. But if he got Raq to do it than that's something else. Mia was my number 1 but after that scene with Nico where she said she missed him and there was music in the background, I thought "no, they are making her innocent" .

Leticia, I agree with you about Gabriela. She never had Damian in the first place and wanted to one-up Raquel by boinking him. She has a very warped idea of what constitutes appropriate behavior. I doubt we will see her or her husband again for anything beyond a funeral, if Damian dies at the end of the series.

We have no proof that Damian ever cheated on Raquel before and I would not take Andres' word for anything other than whatever intentions he talks to himself about.
 

Sandie--Wanted to thank you before the next episode. So here it is. I wasn't able to watch the episode until late last night, but you told it like it was, even the emotional scene between Lisa and Vic--which I didn't believe for a minute, until I saw it.

I shudder to think Andres is twisted enough to have taken Raquel in a vulnerable state to the site of the scheduled accident to do away with the two adulterers. He wanted Raquel for himself, so I don't think he would have done anything to have her end up as the suspect and possible guilty party.

Yes, I was surprised no police interviewed her. She wouldn't have remembered correctly anyway, if she was truly in a dissociative state.

The intro shows Raq coming back into the house (the camera was pointing at her as she came in). She's a bit distraught and there were genuine tears in her eyes. Could Andres have purposely taken her out there to witness the scene or was she the lone perpetrator.

That doesn't answer the questions we've had about THE DAMNED GUN.
 

Hmmmm. Maybe Andres followed Raquel out to the site and staged it to take blame away from her. I just don't want it to be Raquel.
 

Anita: You and me both. For either Raquel or her kids to have done this would destroy her life, Fede's life,Santi's life and so many more, not sure about Mia though. But it would not be a good situation to say the least. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it was not Raquel, nor her kids. But for those of you who saw LC, you will understand why I say to expect the unexpected from GG. I am so looking forward to the resolution of this fantastic TN.
 

We do not know what the mental health issues are in Raquelś family but we know that she fell apart when Damian wanted to leave her. Santi was able to accept that Carolina wanted a divorce. I have often thought that if Damian and Carolina were so committed, why not simply get a divorce. Raquel and her children could not cope.

GG has spun a brilliant and believable tale out of a rather conventional plot from Amar despues de amar. As Sandie mentioned LC was also far more true to life than the usual resolution of telenovelas in which all ends well. I too, cannot wait to see how this unfolds.

I think Raquel was unable to deal with Damian wanting to leave because he was never clear about WHY he wanted to go. He gave her the "I need to find myself" line but if he had said "I don't love you anymore, I'm leaving" she might have been able to survive that, of course she would have been devastated when she found out about his affair but I think with therapy and medication she would have been okay eventually.

Raquel's mom died in a hospital for the mentally ill, Cinthia has drug and emotional problems, and Mia is out of her mind, so it seems all the women for three generations have had one degree or another of mental illness.

Dam really did say Perdoname, te amo. So he IS asking forgiveness probably for 1) the affair and 2) putting her through all this agony and pain and 3) destroying his family. (Not to mention Sanitago's.) But I don't believe he's asking to be forgiven for driving his wife to murder. If he did think she was the shooter, I think he would have said something to her once he regained his speech....something like, don't worry, I'll never tell what you did...

Andres knows more than he's been admitting to. Bring it on. Can't wait.
 

Anita, yes, I hear what you are saying and you have a good point. But I just feel that he is so regretful of his affair and deceitfulness that have deeply affected his family.
I mean he put them through some kinda hell. When he tells her "team amo," I almost lose it. I can't imagine how that makes Raquel feel. I mean he was so in love with Caro, couldn't live without her. What does that mean......that he realized he never loved Caro, or he did but he already forgot her and all of a sudden he realizes it is Raquel he loved all along. What do you mean Dam Damien, very maddening indeed.

If that wouldn't drive a sane person crazy, can you imagine one who is unstable but trying hard as heck to be normal good wife, mother, friend, helper to less fortunate? I feel her trying so hard to keep it together, so hard. Damien and Caro were very cruel, liars and the nerve of Caro. I don't believe in messing with married men, but pretending to be someone's bestie while boinking her husband is worse than a prostitute. So low, how low can you go.

What is LC? I know it's a novela, but don't remember which one it could be.
