Papa a Toda Madre #18 2.8.18: What do a blond, a brunette and a 6-year-old have in common?

Or "Would I Lie to You?"

Veronica meets with her boss in his office, not to reprimand her, but to offer her a promotion to Director of Innovation and Systems, if she accepts.

Moments later, Veronica comes out of the boss’ office and tells the secretary that the meeting went better than expected and they even gave her the day office. The secretary suggests she enjoy her day and Veronica decides to send it with her family. The secretary then hands her the address she requested, and Veronica thanks her.

At Logatoys, Mauricio and Fabian meet with Falcon to discuss the Miami trip. Leopoldo explains that Mauricio will have to pay his way if he wants to go. Mauricio argues that the trip is for Logatoys, to put them back on the map as an international brand, but Falcon shakes his head. Mauricio thinks he is trying to sabotage his company and Falcon finally agrees to pay for the trip, but he wants immediate results. Mauricio laughs and thinks it’s obvious he will get them.

Veronica goes to visit Tono at his job and asks the receptionist for the location of his office. The receptionist laughs and explains the employees barely get a desk and she can find Tono two feet to her right. Veronica looks and finds Tono, aimlessly daydreaming at his desk with sad puppy dog eyes, at his desk. She decides not to embarrass him and leaves the way she came.

In his office, Mauricio dances and asks Fabian if they can score a table at the best restaurant. Fabian reminds him that there is no money to spend on luxuries when Jorge walks in and tells Mauricio that he set up a meeting with the head priest of his kid’s school, so they can talk about Anifer attending. Jorge then tells Mauricio that he will have his legal information soon and share it with him and Falcon by day’s end. Mauricio instructs him not to say a word to Falcon, though Jorge is wary, because it’s a surprise. Jorge looks at Fabian, who asks him to go along with Mauricio’s plan, and Jorge nods. Mauricio then asks if he knows where Renee studies, but Jorge doesn’t though he can find out. Mauricio thanks him and Jorge leaves.

Veronica goes to visit Renee and shares with her the news about her promotion, which has happened a mere week after starting work. Renee is happy for her and is glad to see her boss is an intelligent man who notices her worth, and they toast with lemonade, which turns out to very sour. As Renee goes to put sugar in the lemonade, Veronica confesses that she finally saw where Tono works and she feels embarrassed and bad for him. Renee shrugs and tells her it is not her fault, but Veronica can’t help but feel guilty. Renee reminds her that times have changed, and she deserves this. Veronica nods and laughs while thinking about Tono as a housewife, but Renee grows serious as she thinks about Mauricio’s job offering. Veronica wonders if this means Mauricio is breaking her reserve, where Alejandro and Lupe couldn’t, but Renee thinks that would be impossible and laughs.

At his office, Mauricio (pretending to be a Logatoys HR representative with a chipmunk voice) calls Wilma, Renee’s advisor, and states that Renee has been offered a full scholarship on their behalf and they will take care of all the paperwork regarding her studies in Maryland. Wilma is happy to hear about this and asks for an email where she can spend him the status of Renee’s application and promises to inform her contact in Maryland of the change. Fabian walks in during this call and listens in; after he’s hung up, Mauricio notices Fabian and looks at him, surprised.

That night, at home, Tono hugs and kisses Veronica and tells her that he’s happy to see her home so early because now they get to eat dinner together, like before. He then asks why she is home early and Veronica explains that her meeting ended early and it was too late to go back to the office. She then asks him about his job and Tono tells her that he is very busy. Veronica nods and Tono notices that she looks uneasy, so he asks her if anything big happened. Veronica tries to tell him the truth but remembers when she saw him that afternoon and tells him that there were several layoffs, so she is going to have a lot more work than before. Tono tells her that she can leave her job, if she’s not happy, and Veronica looks surprised at how inconsiderate he’s being.

Fabian can’t believe Mauricio would impersonate a HR rep, especially after his meeting with Falcon that afternoon, because they have no money for Renee’s loan. Fabian wonders if he is trying to woo Renee as well but Mauricio explains that he is only doing it as a favor because he is taking care of Anifer. In addition, Renee can pay them back when she starts working with them. Fabian can’t believe he offered her work too, but Mauricio begs him to help. Fabian obliges and Mauricio thanks him before asking him to tell Gladys that all Maryland calls should go to him. Fabian shakes his head and Mauricio assures him that everything will get resolved soon enough. After a few fake smiles, Fabian leaves, and Mauricio wonders what he is going to do.

The next day, Mauricio brings Anifer to the car as they have a meeting at the school but Anifer frowns because she doesn’t want to. Renee approaches them and tells Anifer she looks great. She is also happy to hear that Anifer is finally going to school because she knows she will be happy. Anifer asks Renee to go to the school with them and, despite having things to do, Renee finally agrees.

At Neron’s, Flor serves him breakfast as Neron sulks. He is giving her the silent treatment but decides to talk to her after a few minutes and asks about her casting yesterday. Flor confesses that it went great and she will be doing a series of tasteful nudes. Neron is floored but Flor smiles wide.

Anifer arrives at the school but finds that it is a little too stiff and boring. Renee agrees with Anifer and suggests they look for another school. Mauricio doesn’t know a lot about schools though and asks Renee to help and accept his offer. Father Cuthbert arrives them and welcomes the three of them as a family. Anifer immediately grabs Renee’s hand and her and Mauricio wonder how they will correct the father’s mistake.

Neron will never allow Flor to do any sort of nude, tasteful or not, but Flor begs him to reconsider. Neron will not, as she needs to set an example for Milady, though Flor chides him for not spending enough time with the girl. Neron reminds her that he plays with Milady on Sundays and storms out as Flor tries to get him to come back.

Father Cuthbert leads the way to his office as Renee tries to correct his mistake. Anifer looks up at Renee and gives her puppy eyes so Renee remains silent as Cuthbert hopes Anifer will be very happy with them. Anifer then grabs Mauricio’s hand as well and tries to hold them back, to no avail.

Flor is still stewing at home when she receives a call from the modeling agency, which tells her that she’s been selected for the photos and asks if she accepts. Flor, after he conversation with Neron, seems unsure.

Cuthbert leads the happy “family” into the school’s church and asks them if they know what values and morals are taught at the school. Renee and Mauricio jokingly make suggestions, but Cuthbert is serious and tells them that Christian values and morals are taught there. He then pats Anifer on the head, but she looks like she wants to run in the opposite direction.

At Logatoys, Jorge is working when he reaches a call from Yuriria, who appreciates the roses he sent her but begs him to leave things as they are. Jorge doesn’t mind, especially because he wants to see her soon, but Yuriria tells him that it is too late. Jorge thinks it’s the best time, but she laughs because she can’t even imagine what his family would say if they found out…she stops herself and tells him she must go before hanging up. Jorge sighs and calls Valentina to tell her that she will be late, and they should eat without him. He then tells her to behave and not do anything bad. Valentina agrees and then hangs up. A few moments later, Valentina opens her laptop and continues watching a video by vlogger, Chiquinquira “Kika” Braun.

At Tono’s, Tono picks up dinner and instructs the kids to go do homework. They offer to help him, especially because they can play with the bubbles, but Tono tells them no and instructs them to go work. He then takes all the dishes to the kitchen, sees the mess he’s made, and cringes. He then receives a call from Veronica, who tells him that she will be home even later today, and Tono tells her that he works hard at work, so it doesn’t pile up though, at home, he keeps hiding fallen food under the rugs. Veronica is happy to hear he is so efficient and tells him that they can use her first paycheck to pay the credit card bills, much to his glee. Veronica hangs after her few moments because her boss is calling and Tono falls on the couch, exhausted.

At home, Anifer asks Mauricio if he told her mother about the school he’s taking her to and Mauricio nods and tells her Maria is happy with the news. Either way, it’s best Anifer goes to school while he’s in Miami. Anifer then asks when she will talk to Maria again, as she misses her, and Mauricio will arrange a call when he comes back. Mauricio then explains that Renee will take care of her while he’s away, though Anifer is unsure, but Mauricio promises to convince her.

Renee meets with Wilma and tells her the news about Logatoys. Wilma promises to advise her daily though everything regarding Maryland will be in Logatoys hands. Renee is happy to hear it and Wilma tells her that this is great news as it will help her get accepted quicker than ever before. Renee smiles, happy to see things falling into place.

That night, Renee goes to see Mauricio and asks him how the scholarship is possible, as Logatoys is in ruins, but Mauricio assures her everything is going fine, and they have an extra account set aside for scholarships; he can even show her the account information. Renee sighs and Mauricio asks if she accepts his offer. Renee thinks she has no other option but to accept on 3 conditions: she needs time to finish her thesis, she will help only when he’s away on business or at work though she will cook and clean because he can’t, and she will need a couple of days to find a renter. Mauricio smiles slightly at all the conditions but tells Renee he already has the perfect candidate to rent her house. He then extends his hand and Renee shakes it because they have a deal.

A few days later, Mauricio serves Anifer her breakfast and instructs her to get ready because her school is very strict. Anifer thinks she’s ready but Mauricio points to her hair and tries to do a bun but fails. Renee knocks on the door then and offers to help him with Anifer. She tells Mauricio to learn how to comb and do a ponytail, ASAP, as he will have to do one himself one day.

At Jorge’s, they all have breakfast as Jorge tells his children that he is very happy with their behavior and things have been better since they started listening to him. Valentina and Samuel are quiet and only speak long enough to agree though Jorge notices how quiet Samuel has been lately. Samuel tells him it’s nothing and continues eating.

Outside Anifer’s school, Mauricio tells Anifer to listen to Renee, who will be picking her up, and Renee promises to come for her that afternoon, but she should make the best of her day. The teachers then ask them to say goodbye, as school is starting, and Anifer asks Mauricio for a big hug. He obliges, and she gives him a kiss before leaving. Mauricio then confirms that he is going straight to the airport and Renee wishes him good luck and smiles. Mauricio tells her that she looks so different when she smiles, and Renee thinks he does too. Just then, his taxi arrives, and they share an awkward kiss on the cheek before Mauricio leaves. Once alone, Renee asks herself what the hell is going on with her feelings.

Anifer arrives at her classroom and the teacher introduces her to the class before showing her to her seat. Anifer runs to it and sits by crossing her legs on the chair, which the teacher tells her never to go again. The teacher then asks the students to solve a problem on the board and Anifer puts her head down because she has no idea how to do it.

As Tania and Ernesto fight all over the house, Tono calls them over and asks them to behave. He then asks them to grab Fidel and go upstairs and do their schoolwork because they have class in the morning. Once alone, Tono looks around and sees the mess the kids have made. He cringes again but goes back to sleep on the couch.

Jorge tells his kids that he has a surprise Logatoys trip coming up and he is trusting them to take care of themselves. Valentina looks at Samuel, surprised, but assures Jorge that they will be on their best behavior. Jorge tells them that he will still ask his brother and the neighbors to check in on them, from time to time, and Valentina asks him where the trip he is taking will be. Jorge nervously tells her that it will be to Los Angeles.

Veronica arrives home and sees the mess Tono has left. She then screams for Tono to wake up and he is shocked to find her there, as he thought she would be late again. He then asks if she was laid off and Veronica shakes her head; she hoped to organize her work at home but was instead welcomed with a mess. She asks Tono to pick up the pace, as the kids also have swimming and ballet, but he asks her to go with them, so they don’t miss her. Veronica prefers he go but notices how tired he looks and asks if his work has been hard. Tono tells her it has but Veronica demands he stop lying to her because she saw his job and knows he is lying. Tono demands to know how she knows and she confesses that she went to visit him and saw him at his desk. Tono thinks his job sucks as much as hers, since she’s overworked, but Veronica confesses that she has more work because she got a promotion. Tono can’t believe she lied as well and Veronica frowns.

At her house, Anifer looks out the window as Renee moves in with the help of Neron and Pablo. They tell her to call them, should she need anymore help, and hope Mauricio keeps his word. Renee thinks he will and Neron jokingly calls her a traitor before kissing her goodbye. Renee then asks Anifer how her first day went and she confesses that it was so-so. Renee then finds the magazine with Mauricio’s and Anifer’s pictures and Anifer asks Renee if Mauricio looks handsome. Renee tells her he does, then catches herself and tells Anifer that he’s not that good looking though Anifer knows the truth behind her words.

Veronica yells that she didn’t want to lie but she didn’t want to hurt him, especially because she has a better job than he does. Tono doesn’t think it’s that great of a job anyway but Veronica reminds him that he just confessed that his job was horrible. After a moment, she tells him to quit and Tono is shocked, but Veronica is adamant he quit if he’s so unhappy.

At the shop, Flor brings Pablo and Neron lunch and Pablo thanks her. Neron, however, is worried about the money she spent on all the food. Flor tells him that she was able to score a deal and then tells him that she’s been thinking about the baptism and still wants to throw their daughter a great party. Neron thought they were going for something smaller, especially after how expensive it was to start the shop, but Flor explains that she’s been saving up and, either way, Milady deserves the best things. Neron caresses his daughter’s cheek and considers this.

Tono can’t believe Veronica would suggest such a thing, especially because he refuses to be a kept man. Veronica thinks that they would only be helping each other, especially because she can be the sole breadwinner, but Tono doubts she would make enough money. Veronica nods and then asks him to follow her. She takes out her first check from the company and shows it to him; Tono is shocked by the amount but he still refuses to quit his job. Veronica asks him to please, for his sanity, quit his current job and help at the house while he finds a new one. Tono shakes his head and reminds her that she lied before but Veronica tells him that they both lied but they need to move on and he needs to make a choice. She gives him a kiss as Fidel comes down the stairs and asks them to help him go to the bathroom. She obliges and Tono can’t believe Veronica is going to win that much money.

Mauricio arrives at Miami and goes to the toy expo but finds that his display is the worse out of all of them. Fabian reminds him that they didn’t have a bigger budget, like the other companies, but Mauricio wonders how they will achieve anything with such a mediocre presentation. Fabian instructs him to smile and drum up some new business though he doubts he will be able to concentrate, especially with Falcon’s security guard so close by, but he will make the best of it. He hangs up on Fabian and sighs.

At another stand, a few feet away, an artist sketches Kika’s picture and hands it over. She smiles and thanks him before turning around and seeing Mauricio.

She approaches him, as he looks around, wonders if she’s looking at him, and smiles.

Mauricio is distracted by her beautiful curves and Kika can’t believe he doesn’t recognize her. She smiles again and declares that, this time, he won’t escape…

Alfredo, thanks again for another great recap. As usual, you cleared up a few things for me that I didn't get when I watched.

Lots of interesting things happening tonight, but what really impressed me was Veronica. The woman is a saint, I wish we could clone her. Really.

But Toño sweeping stuff under the rug? Come on, has anybody ever really done that?

Renee should tell Jorge she didn't appreciate Lupe's just dropping in on her, maybe he should think hard about it if he's thinking of just dropping in on someone who might not be thrilled to see him.

Thank You Alfredo. Fun Fun now. Even Anifer sees they are both smitten.
Kika is Lizbet from La Piloto.
Oh shit, it is after midnight and America is broke again.

See everyone tomorrow, Whoops seems to have fixed itself.

kj

Alfredo, thanks for the great recap and the wonderful screen shots.

Andy, I agree about Verónica. Toño is getting on my last nerve.

The teacher was so obnoxious to Anifer about how she was sitting. She could have told her in a much kinder way. Talk about turning a kid off on her first day. I wonder how long she will last at that school.

Laughed at the “deal” no, “trato” exchange between Renée and Mauricio.

Sounds like Flor is going ahead with the photo job.

Poor Mauricio with the cheap display w/ deadpan security guard. Looks like he is being programmed to fail.

Kika and Mauricio look like a match made in heaven!

Thanks Alfredo. Looks like we now have the serious contender for Mauricio's affections, just as things are warming up between him and Renee. Let the games begin!

Does anyone seriously sweep things under the rug? Yes, I suspect they do Anda Banda. As well as shove clutter in drawers and closets if people are coming over. "Individual differences" as my husband used to explain.

Will look forward to watching this later on, Alfredo, but your recap was so interesting, I wish I could get to it right now! Thanks.

Alfredo: Who's the actress portraying Kika ?

Steve did you read what I wrote last night?

Alfredo, another exceptional outing.

"After a few fake smiles" and "tasteful nude" were among many favorites.

Jarifa, I agree that Mau is definitely being set up to fail, but while Mau is realizing things are being made difficult, I'm not sure he sees he's heading for a fall. Guess the change in residence didn't sufficiently register :)

"Veronica goes to visit Renee and shares with her the news about her promotion, which has happened a mere week after starting work". Of course! That certainly mirrors everyday life, doesn't it? What a lovely fantasy.

Andy, Veronica is a favorite of many of us here. She is just about perfect in any role she plays. Her facial expressions are priceless. She is a gifted actor and comedienne.

"Neron reminds her that he plays with Milady on Sundays". No need to look further for the next Father of the Year is there?

"Tono falls on the couch, exhausted". Man, get your lazy ass up.

Judy, your comments reminded me of a commercial (for women's razors of all things). Unexpected visit from in laws prompted a mad clean up - clothes in oven, pizza box in closet. Not a fan of the "pop in" myself.

I also think Flor is going ahead with the photos. This May/December couple never lacks for conflicts of interest.

I know love seems best when it percolates slowly. Still, I yearn for love at first sight, passionat love (think Pasion), where once the couple gets together, nothing can break them apart.

Alfredo, thank you for this most excellent recap!

Diana

Kirby, thank God it's Friday. I had several mishaps already including spilling my coffee on the floor of my work parking lot. So nice to have your fabulous avatar to look at today. Thank you.

Diana

Just got one whoops before getting into the patio.

Thank you, Alfredo, for another excellent, detailed recap .

I googled Rulli because I am fascinated by his excellent accent anx how easily he slips from Spanish into English and back. He was born in Argentina, but he worked all over the world as a model. He also speaks Italian. What a guy...good looking and smart and funny !!

Diana, sorry that you are having one of those days. We all have them.

Kika and Maury look like twins. She seems to be just the type of girl that he has enjoyed partying with in the past. Uh oh.

Ooops, My bad, Whoops is still with us. Late last night it seemed to have gone to bed, but this morning it is alive and well. I wonder if it has to do with traffic.

Tono gives ball bearing humans a bad name. WTF with the sleeping? Is he up half the night doing undercover work, and Is THAT why Vero doesn't kill him? Would she like one of us to do it? Veronica lover here.

Diana. ' mirrors everyday life, doesn't it? What a lovely fantasy.' clever observation. In any job which requires a lot of skill, after a week you are still learning the company culture and nuances. With new engineers, I always expected the first six months to be overhead.

Renee was sooo funny looking at the magazine pictures of Mauricio and Anifer and zoning out for a minute, then the little tremble/shudder as she shook herself back into reality. You're a goner Hon. But keep fighting it, it is good for you.

I am beginning to seriously dislike Fakeian. I keep waiting to see him and Falconian high-fiveing behind Mauricio's back. And I don't know why I like Mauricio. He is good looking enough to dislike on that alone, and he is a bumbling idiot. But he is kid approved, so I guess that is what really matters.

Susy. 'Kika and Maury look like twins. She seems to be just the type' and she was having a zoooiiinnngggg moment as soon as her eyes fell on Mauricio. Chick, meet chick magnet.

Diana, now to have a perfect Friday, your coffee needs to freeze while you toil away, then it can try to take your feet form under you as you attempt to get back into your car. Watch out! #sometimeslifeplotsagainstus

OT
Diana it is one of the wonders of nature to me that these Eagles go from inside an egg to approximately the size of the parents in a handful of weeks. That gives me a narrow window to photograph them as "babies" before they look like buzzards. The one you see here is between three and four weeks old.

Yes, Whoops is back to torment. Perfect :)

Thanks Susanlynn. And appreciate the info on Sebastian. I didn't realize he was a model (although I should have, right?)

Kirby, yes, I better watch my step getting back into the car! That lake of coffee will be iced coffee for sure when I leave. I didn't realize Eagles grew that quickly! Makes me appreciate your timing and persistence in getting these fabulous shots even more...

Diana

Yes, Diana, be careful. That's how I did my face plant on the driveway. Slipped on ice and landed directly on schnozz and chin. Lucky that a fat lip was the only casualty.

Diana, yes be careful. My daughter just told med that one of the teachers in her school slipped in the parking lot and broke her arm. This has been a treacherous winter with all the ice. We are going through bags of salt for here and at our daughter's house.

Kirby: I KNEW I've seen her from "LA Piloto".

Speaking of that TV Show, I'm hearing they're bringing it back for a 2nd Season.

Well, it's obvious Falcon and probably Fartbian want LogaToys to fail, or at least want Mauricio to, but why? I have not figured that angle yet.

In these corporate wars it is common to undermine a company in order to make a take over easier. But that has already been accomplished. In that scenario the next step would be repairing the damage done to accomplish a takeover and make their new prize profitable or sellable again.

Hmmm that's funny, I used a word Google blogger doesn't have. It squawked sellable.

Thank you, Alfredo.

Mau getting involved in Renée's Maryland application will likely lead to him messing it up for her. Especially because he is personally handling it.

Good Morning, Patio Pals! Mr. AAA, thank you for your excellent retelling of last night's events...always a joy to read your work!

Geez, what else can I say that hasn't been said?

Ditto to all the comments regarding Tono; he's just a lazy slug leaving his slime all over the place. I don't understand how Veronica has put up with him all this time...and how he can just start his smooching and she melts!

Jarifa, that teacher was completely out of line. I agree that Anifer will quickly be turned off with that school.

I worry about Neron and Flor...Flor is really trying Neron's patience. Knowing how jealous he is and agreeing to do that photo shoot is a really baaaadd decision on her part.

Fakian---good one Kirby! They are reallly keeping us guessing on his motives for destroying Mau...I still think it all goes back to envy, jealousy, and greed.

Kirby, "Renee was sooo funny looking at the magazine pictures of Mauricio and Anifer and zoning out for a minute, then the little tremble/shudder as she shook herself back into reality. You're a goner Hon. But keep fighting it, it is good for you." She surely is a goner, that smile she gave after Mau gave her that quick peck good-bye said it all. I'm really enjoying the magnetic powers of this couple...opposites attract!

JudyB, your face plant sounds painful and gruesome. I hope your recovered quickly from your fat lip. Diana and everyone else, please do be careful!

Whoops is worse than ever. It took me five tries before it let me into Caray! UGHHH!

Lucio, ITA Mau is going to make things worse for Renee in that aspect. He sometimes has a glimmer of brain activity and then he goes and has a brain fart!

Kirby, you always make me laugh and now I am learning about eaglets, too. Beautiful photos!

Good morning, everyone! This patio is always alive, especially today that it is Friday! Sweet two-freedom :)

Thank you all for stopping by and putting in your two cents as our leads get closer just to have a bombastic blond appear out of nowhere. I liked Lizbeth in La Piloto, she seemed to be the most capable and reasonable out of the bunch (poor Amanda was too gullible, Olivia was a hothead and Yolanda was blinded by love) so it will be interesting to see her as a femme fatale. I wonder if she's there by coincidence or if she followed Mauricio? She made it seem like they knew each other though Mauricio can barely tell one from the other, unless it's Renee of course ;)

I will admit that my least favorite of the usual love story is the "we will fight for months and then realize our love" that we are getting here and got in Ramon. I am more partial to the "let's be friends and then realize our love through shared circumstances." Anifer makes the whole ordeal a lot more fun though because she sees thinks that the grownups don't realize and I'm sure she will be instrumental in helping Mauricio and Renee to their happy ending.

Tono is a lout and I can't believe his pride would make him stay at a job he hates when he can learn to be a better husband and father at home.

I think the photos will lead to Neron's and Flor's first breakup. Not a spoiler but he's too "old school" and she's too much of a free spirit to be tied down. Is this when Neron's boys will come back into the picture and help dear, old dad out? It's be a good way to bring them back into the fold.

Jorge is going to be in for a rude awakening if he goes to visit Yuriria without her permission. I feel horrible for her kids and Jorge only thought of getting back with her because he's currently wifeless. Sick, I say.

By the way, Rodrigo was Miguel in VEA but he wasn't German in La Malquerida. That was Osvaldo de Leon, who finally got a lead role in the Esmeralda remake. Speaking of Rodrigo, if he and Pablo are going to be together, I wonder how he will coincidence his duty as an officer of the law with Pablo being an illegal immigrant. That would make for a very interesting romance, indeed.

OT: I have to say that Pasion is my least favorite of the trilogy but had the best central couple, and the sweetest, most scorching chemistry. Jimena is also one of the best "best friends" I've seen so there's a lot to love but the villains weren't as memorable as in Alborada and the action wasn't as consistent like in AR. I would love for Carla to do a novela again because, near the near of her career in novelas, she would keep her couples apart because of circumstance and not so much misunderstandings, and that was the best.

Whoops. If you ever get in, just minimize your browser, rather than closing it, if you are on a conventional computer. That's what I've been doing, and it seems if it ever opens correctly, YOU'RE IN. Leave the Caray tab open, if you are using Chrome and just go to other sites if you need to in a separate tab.

Alfredo, thanks for that correction. I guess that the two actors looked similar to me. I have not seen Osvaldo in anything for awhile.

I agree with you that Pasion was not as good as ALborada and AMor Real...my all time favs. Yes, Marisol is "the best best friend!"

Thanks Alfredo!!!

Kika looks exactly right for Mau but what is up with her accent? I thought the actress looked prettier in La Pilota, without all of the makeup she has on here.

Still on the fence about Fabian. I mean he could have bought Mau dinner right? I mean if he thinks of this guy like his brother he could take him and Anifer out? Fab made it clear he doesn't party with Mau, they don't spend time together outside the office...what kind of brotherhood is this?

Vero rocking it at work and Tono still not taking "home" seriously. ay yay yay

I just don't like Jorge. He is so cold and standoffish. So controlling. I can't warm up to him. Who is his brother? Have we met him yet? I haven't heard about him.

Also, I think Renee likes Mau because he is helpless, unlike the other two guys she was kinda with. She gets to save him and he has an adorbs child to boot.

Carvivlie, I am trying so hard to like Jorge, if only for the sake of the kids. But something just doesn't seem right about the guy. I smell a rat with his friend Yuarine too.

So Rulli finally addressed the fact that Jorge is about two feet taller than him last night by first standing on tippy toes to talk to him rather than crane his neck up as though expecting a kiss, with Jorge then next time slumping down. Funny boys.

Maybe she likes him sort of because he is helpless, in that in a relationship with him, she has something to give.

Vero and TOno seem so mismatched, but she must have seen something in him to marry him.He was probably a fun, carefree type of guy when they met. Vero is such a go-getter, and Tono does not seem suited for work or to be a househusband who keeps the home fires burning for the family. Couples handle their family responsibilities in different ways. Sometimes, one partner works while the other takes care of the house and the children. Sometimes, both work and share caring for the house and children.SOmetimes, someone is hired to help with the house and children. Tono is not carrying his share of the weight.

And Fakian keeps dribbling out little tid bits to Mauricio. Admittedly Mau has not shown himself to be deserved of much else, I just don't like it that Fakian seems to frickian enjoy it so much.

Where IS that dammed shoebox?
Where's that company car?

Carvivle, good point about why Renee is attracted to Maury...in addition to his good looks. I also think that he is funny ,doesn't take himself seriously, and doesn't try to control her like those other two guys.

Kirby, Rulli is pretty tall, so I wonder how tall Jorge is..6'6""...6'8" ?

Tono does not appear to be good at ANYthing, but those smoochies get Vero every time....??? Looks like it would be akin to getting snuggly with a hairbrush, as he apparently shaves once a month.

Their oldest child appears about the right age for Vero to get the dreaded 7-year itch, and rightfully so, with Tono around.

We've all seen mismatched couples, but the one getting the short end of the deal is usually keenly aware of one shining redeeming quality in the other one which in their mind, makes up for the other flaws. We have not seen Vero make that observation for us yet.

That's what I'm thinking. Jorge has to be abnormally tall.

YIKES. Rulli is 6' 2''
Maite 5' 3"

Jorge must be in the 6 6 range
No wonder Renee always talks to his belt buckle.

In that scene where Renée looks at the photo of Anifer and Mau, Anifers says: "And Mauricio looks muy guapo, right?"
Renée: "Siii", nodding in agreement. Then catching herself and saying: "Ay, no. No, no, no. Obviously not. What are you saying! Guapo no. Guapo is the one that is in telenovelas, the big one. You know which one? That one is guapo. This one is not."
I think she was referring to Sebastian Rulli, in a funny self-reference.
If not, than to Ed Yañes.

Jarifa and Rgv Chick, we are in agreement about the teacher's poor behavior with Anifer. Perhaps this is part of setting up things so Anifer can get out of there.

Kirby, thanks for your tip about not closing the Caray tab. Is Whoops still with us? Things seem to load OK today.

Andy, yup. I just tried to open a Caray tab and got Whooped again

Thanks for that tidbit Lucio...

Ahhh, Eduardo. I wonder when (even if) we will ever see him again.

I hate to search for a new telenovio after all this time. Most are way too young for me, but Luis Gatica and Diego Olivera might have to do.

Susanlynn, I like the actor playing Tono but the character's charm is a mystery.

Diana

Thanks Lucio. I thought it went something like that, but a lot of it got past me.

Kirby, I understand exactly what you are saying about Jorge. His expression is rather bland, no personality, no spark.

I think he is on the up and up though. I am definitely curious about his past or "other" life :)

Carvivlie, I don't think we've seen or heard anything about Jorge's brother until last night.

Diana

I got "whoops" today so still around.

Jorge's kids need to get out of that school too. They get enough controlling behavior at home. Maybe the Priest will find out Mau and Renee aren't married and kick Ani out. What school do Vero's kids go to? I don't remember seeing them in uniforms.

Diana...yes, where is Big Ed, our mutual telenovio? Has he retired from telenovelas?

Jorge and Tono Ade at opposite ends of the father spectrum..Jorge is too strict and Tono is too !enient.

I am curious to find out the story on Jorge and Yuri. Are the children in that photo his and he is supporting them, or are they someone else's and he sends Yuri money because he is her friend and a good soul ?

Diana, Susanlynn, I have not seen big Ed since Amores con trampa. What about Jorge Salinas? Nothing since PyP. It sort of looks like the old guard galanes are being replaced. Another one Fernando Colunga. Nothing since Py P.

Maaaan..I wonder the same Susy. Jorge, though seemingly is a good guy, I wonder HOW good. Those kids are pretty old. Has this been going on from day one, or something recent?

This may have bumped that dam shoefrickinbox out of first place.

Carvivlie: ' I don't remember seeing them in uniforms.' Home Schooled with Tonto?

Jarifa there was that big Broohaha a while back when LooneyVision terminated a lot of the retainers, etc. and pissed off everyone. I think A. Boyer famously told them to shove it where the sun don't shine or something.
You know what I'm talking about, right?

It appears that a lot of the bread and butter people like you just mentioned are sitting this dance out.

One thing about this show is that it keeps you guessing.

Jarifa, it is sad that a!l those mature actors are not being featured. #finewine

Congratulations on your promotion Kemo Sabe. I'll get this place spruced up as soon as I finish my nap.

And hand me my bow and arrows, I'm gonna shoot that Mauricio off that dam horse too.

Wow, the patio is rockin’ today! No “whoops” can stop us :-)

Enjoying the great comments between chores and checking on my animalitos.

Kirby, you think the slug can shoot anything other than BS?

Kirby, Susanlynn, yes, I remember hearing about the brouhaha. It could be very well that they are just watching to see how it is all going to shake out. Maybe they are doing different things like theater. Colunga came through here about four years (?) ago in a play. They are definitely on the older side or headed there. I even think of Jaime Camil, not as old as Counga or big Ed, in Jane the Virgin playing Jane’s father.

So who is in the younger crop of galanes besides Rulli and Daniel Arenas ( who proved himself in MMTF?

I watched Love Trap with Ed Yanez and Africa and thoroughly enjoyed it. Especially the talking animals.
People always talk about the 'greatest TN of all time' and 'A love story to make you cry', etc. etc..And they probably are, but if I want to cry, I'll just watch the news. I'm shallow like that.

I like the corny fun shows like this one, Love Trap, Waking up With You, and other fun shows.

Or the ones with a LOT of skin, I like that too. Woof.

Another Ed I almost get mixed up with Yanez is Eduardo Santamarina . Another big moose, and funnier than all get out. I think I first saw him in Yo amo a Juan Querendón. A Hoot !

There's Soto, Gil, actually, Zepeda, who no one really took seriously until recently, Santamarina was just in Descontrol,

The patio is indeed alive and well today. Sergio Mur, who plays Jorge, is 6'3" but he is lankier than Rulli or William levy so he looks a lot taller than all of them.

Jose Ron, Erick Elias, Gabriel Soto, Carlos Ferro, Pablo Lyle, Andres Palacios, David Zepeda, all immediately come to mind but I hope this use this time to try out some new people like they are doing with Osvaldo de Leon and Danilo Carrera.

RGV, Nope. I think he has made his whole life on gladhanding and bullpoopie.

He didn't look real busy the other day when The Goddess Veronica dropped in on him.

Kirby,

Yes, Eduardo Santamarina was also in Amores con Trampa. I had never seen him before but he was really funny. That was a fun novela which is what I am usually looking for. I loved the old country vocabulary and sayings.

Another one of my faves for flat out funny but one who never was or will be a leading man is Jesús Ochoa. He never fails in making me laugh. I really enjoyed him in El bienamado.

Please don't forget Horacio Panchieri! AND Pierre Louis. I am not going to say anything bad about David Z. but I am a bit surprised he's gotten so many plum roles..

I also think EY got himself in a bit of hot water after his run in with the reporter. I believe I read somewhere he said it cost him a few roles.

Yes, there is no loyalty. What's equally puzzling is that I also think Angelique wasn't being offered an exclusive either. After TVA? Nuts.

Diana

I did forget Horacio but it seems that every project he's a lead in is only a modest hit. UCHED was great but Tierras Salvajes was no so 50-50. I think he's great but could use some improvement.

Pierre Louis is amazing. He should be one of the ones to try out as a lead. His chemistry with Lola in CET is sorching as well. And he can play sweet and reliable too so he's perfect.

I think A. Boyer stems from the fact that TVA, while amazingly acted on her part, was not much of a hit here or in Mexico.

Eduardo S. was great in Lichita too!

Jarifa, I don't know Jesus Ochoa. Looks like I'm missing something!

I think sexiness doesn't have to come from the handsomest man. Sexy is not always the best looking.

Diana

Thanks Alfredo. I didn't realize TVA didn't do well in Mexico. I just think Angelique has been flawlee in everything she has done. Teresa might be her best work.

I have been dying to see Tierras Salvajes (CDF, Olivera and Panchieri - sigh), but looks like I'll have to wait longer.

Pierre is definitely leading man material. Let's hope the powers that be agree.

Diana

Diana, Jesús Ochoa is just a good comic actor but not on my telenovio list. The first time I saw him was in PESE where he played Adriano Reyes the owner of the company. He played the detective in Hotel de secretos, too. My telenovio list changes all the time because I only like certain actors in certain roles. : )

Diana, did you watch Hotel de los Secretos. Jesus Ochoa was in that and I found him incredibly appealing in that role. He's a big guy. Not slim or buff like our usual dreamboats but he played a brilliant (and brilliantly funny) detective/police officer in that one and I loved him. And so did a younger woman in the story. I found it totally believable although not everybody agreed.

Ah our comments crossed Jarifa. Ochoa was definitely my telenovio in Hotel de los Secretos.

I am very loyal to my telenovios, and it is a short list. ..Mauricio Cordoba, FErnando Colunga, and Big ED. I also have a short list of AMerican actors that I find attractive ...Dean Cain and JOe LAndo, and James Darren. I also like the SCottish actor SAm HEughan who plays the lead in OUtlander. Hmmm...do I have a type?" It is interesting to see what people find attractive.

Well as telenovios go, Fernando Colunga is my all-time top rated guy. But also liked Aaron Diaz in Teresa. Those eyes just got me! So far as American cinema goes, my crushes are all in "el otro barrio" now. Charles Bronson and Jack Palance. Guys who looked DANGEROUS, in other words. However in real life, tend to be attracted to wiry, funny guys of medium height. In short, I'm all across the board.

Oh you girls...I would tell you all about my TeleNovias, but men's expressions of interest seem to get a bit more clinical than yours. :-)

Ariadne Diaz from Estela would definitely be one of mine, along with Silvia Navarro and Esmeralda Pimentel. Gorgeous, beautiful women and extremely talented to boot.

OT: Julian Gil, David Zepeda and Ana Brenda Contreras are in an upcoming tn at 10:00 pm ... replacing Care, I'm sure. I like Ana, but the two guys ... meh.

Caer ... NOT Care!!

Thanks, Anon! I didn't think they'd air it so soon without seeing how it does in Mexico but oh, well, desperate times call for desperate measures.

Anonymous..I agree . I am a fan of ABC , and I have not seen her in anything in a while. The guys...meh.

Anon, I agree. Julián Gil and Davis Zepeda are not two of my favorites.

Pardon the intrusion, but I just had to see what engendered 72 comments. It wasn't all about Papa, tee hee. Enjoyed reading about folks favorites and not so favorites and some unknowns. I'm sorry I'm missing Serio Mur here, but I can always go back and watch my reruns of La Reina de Corazones. Mmmmmmm and double mmmmm.

I'm not staying up to 10pm to watch Him and Zepeda. Too bad because i like ABC

You are always welcome, Anita! Its not always on top but this patio is a great bunch. We've been through the highs and lows of the TN world but we are resilent and very funny.

ABC has been the leads in way too many disasters. I hope this is her saving grace but I am cautiously optimistic, especially since Guero castro produced VEA.

After Doble Vida I enjoy Zepeda a lot more but I can only stand Gil in a supporting role like Sortilegio. When hes the main rival he plays like hes played it every other time and thats boring.

Zepeda has really grown on me. But
Can

Not

Stand

Gill

Seeing him with anybody is a head scratcher like with Vero and Tonto.

Maybe with HotCop?

Judy and Jarifa, no I did not watch Hotel, I will have to keep an eye out for the actor. Keeping an open mind is very important Jarifa! And Judy, I like Colunga but think he is meant for TNs set in an earlier time when pirates rode and owned the seas. His Ric in Pasion was the first time I'd seen him. From that and what I saw in Alborada, I think those TNs were his niche.

Alfredo and Kirby, I would have agreed with you about Julian Gil but something changed my mind. And believe it or not, it was his performance in the horrid Sueno de dreck. He played a complicated character and I saw a human side not apparent in most of his roles. And I think you're right Alfredo, not much range in his villain roles.

That said, while the next show's premise seems promising, I, like others, feel Gil and Zepada are not enough reason to watch. ABC is OK, but no great shakes.

Diana

Zepeda came in midstream in Fin del Mundo and everybody except me hated him. Then in TVA he had a fighting chance as he was in it from the start.

T5hen in Doble Vida I was pretty impressed. I thought he was just fine. Apparently Mother LooneyV thought so too, he has been working a lot lately.

Gill doesn't have time to work, MdS has him tied up in court like Ramoon and Sofia in that cabin.
There HAS to be a lesson in there somewhere.

For me, Zepeda and Gil are forever frozen in Sortilegio--as is ABC. For a crazy 2d half, this was Carla Estrada's swan song with a gaggle of fine performers, plus Monica Miguel.

Diana--Jesus Ochoa is like the teddy bear you don't mind squeezing and have him squeeze you back. He did a very funny film called Divina Confusion with a whole bunch of telenovela actors, including ABC. He played the part of Zeus. I go back and watch it once a year, at least. (I like schmaltz, especially if it involves handsome men, like in Borrowed Hearts--also a once a year Christmas film, with Erick McCormack and Roma Downey.)
