Caer En Tentacion #102 Part 2, 3/2/18 (El Gran, Gran Final): Raquel had No Idea

Note: Backflashes are in blue

We begin at the end Carolina is shot and Damian screams “No, no!!” he runs to her “Carolina no my love wake up resist my love” He picks her up and carries her “help, please help”. At the station Vicente keeps telling his side of the story. “I finally get out of the ravine and run to Damian” “what did you do to my sister? what did you do?” Damian says “she’s dead” Damian sobs and Vicente goes into a rage filled vicious attack. “I grabbed the shovel and beat Damian on the head” “I was so mad I don’t know how I was strong enough to drag Carol but I took her to bury her because I wanted to protect her” Damian stares at him with despise of the man growing exponentially by the second “because of you Carolina is dead” {no truer statement has ever been made in this TN}. Damian tries to land a punch but due to his current condition can’t get close enough. Vicente is taken to his cage. Antonio turns to Damian and asks “who are you protecting? who was in the third car?”, Damian yells “no one”. He turns to look at Mia but says nothing, he too is taken away.
Cynthia calls Godoy and explains that she needs help with Fede because he is in danger. She’s been trying to call him but he does not answer his cell phone. Godoy can’t help her know because he has his hands full with murder suspects, sends another officer to get Raquel’s statement.

In Fede’s car Andres has his gun pointed at Fede and wants to know where all of the evidence is. Fede hands him a USB and says that that is all he has then pleads to be let go because he knows nothing else. “We are not leaving until I find what I need” He then gets a call from king pin, who tells him his time is up and he does not need to look for anything anymore. He knows that Andres has been stealing from him. There is a van parked behind Fede’s car and Andres is ordered to get in, a thug is pointing a gun at him so at this point he has no choice.
At the station Antonio begins to interrogate Raquel “tell me who was in the third car”, Raquel says “it was me”, Mia hears Raquel’ confession and runs into the room “it was me, I was in the car with my brother, it was me, my mom has nothing to do with this”

Cynthia calls Santi to ask him if he is with Raquel. “No I'm following Alina, she threatened me” Cynthia then tells him “she has the papers Andres is looking for they are incriminating and show that he was laundering money, Andres kidnapped Fede, Please don’t lose Alina and call Godoy” Santi tells her not to worry everything will work out.
Nico and Lola get back to Lola’s place and let Nacho and Bebo know that Damian confessed to having shot Carolina. Everyone is relieved that Santi had nothing to do with Carol’s death (maybe –viewer Ville has not cleared him yet).

Godoy arrives at Rueda’ house and sees the rat trying to scurry away. Godoy tells him that Miriam has already confessed and that he now needs to tell the truth “Federico Becker is in danger and anything that happens to him will be your fault, he is the same age as your son” This last statement tugs a sliver of decency and he tells Godoy that Alina Del Villar has the papers.

Antonio begins to interrogate Mia, she tells him that she and Fede followed Carolina and Damian, Fede tells her “there they are; we can see they are together, what else you want?” Mia says “revenge, she ruined our life” Fede continues to follow them. “I want to ruin her the way she ruined us” A car cuts them off and they lose sight of Damian’s SUV. They catch up to them again at the toll booth, but stay back so that Dam does not see them. They lose the car again because of they had to wait at the booth. They continue to drive and down the road they come across Vicente’s car on the road, they wonder what happened. Mia did not want to stay around to find out because she was desperate to catch up to Damian. They had no idea that Damian and Carol had been in the accident, and drove away, they later found out about the accident and felt fear and guilt so did not want to tell Raquel anything. Raquel looked relieved that Mia and Fede had nothing to do with Carolina’s death (two more cleared).

In an alley king pin tells Andres that he already will get the papers from Alina. He asks Andres who Fede is, he says that he is his nephew, and surprise, really big surprise Andres shows an 1/8th of a sliver of decency  and asks king pin to let Fede go, but no it’s too late “he has seen our faces already”
Godoy calls Santi and tells him to continue following Alina because this will be the only way to get to Andres and Fede.
At station Antonio continues with his questioning of Raquel and Mia “something does not fit” he turns to Raquel and says “why did you lie?”, Mia says because she was trying to protect me, Antonio gets informed about the situation with Fede and Andres, Raquel asks him “what happened?”

In jail Vicente begins hallucinating again he sees Carolina and says “I miss you Carol, what should I do?” ‘Carol’ leans in and tells him something to his ear. He begins to say “I don’t know how to do it Carol, how do I do it?” Garrido, who is in the cell next to Vicente, sees that Vicente is talking to himself
Alina drives up to the agreed location where the thugs are holding Andres and Fede. She stops the car and hesitates at first but then gets out of the car,  she gets the documents and walks over to where kingpin is standing and he says “did you bring me my stuff?” she says “yes did you bring me mine?”     Kingpin motions to one of his thugs who takes out a briefcase opens it up to show Alina her reward for the documents, she looks over at Fede and Andres and asks what’s going to happen to them, but kingpin says that it’s best if she does not know. She walks over to Fede and spews some venom tells Fede that Santi could have saved him.  at that moment Santi and Godoy and the cavalry arrive at the scene and a gun battle a La Candidata style breaks out, many thugs go down and a couple of officers get shot. In the confusion Alina starts freaking out and so does Andres. Fede keeps his wits and finds a perfectly safe nook in a wall. Bullets fly by and one of them finds its way into the area where a heart should have been in Andres’ body, he goes down like the heartless fiend he is. All the while, a gun less Santi dodges bullets as he runs thru the maze of cars as he makes his way towards Fede, and like the true hero he is he gets to Fede and takes him out of harm’s way.  All thugs are down, Andres is Dead one more to go, Alina tries to get away but Godoy already knows what needs to be done with this little wench and has them cuff her and arrests her for her part in this disastrous alliance.

Two weeks later
Laura is at her show telling the final chapter of the Damian Becker and Carolina Rivas story. “After the confessions of Damian Becker and Vicente Rivas, the enigma of who killed Carolina Rivas is over, but it continues to take lives. Vicente Rivas committed suicide (viewer Ville gets to see a gruesome scene of Vicente hanging from his cell) he was riddled with guilt” Laura continues her long winded report “The judge closed the case after it was determined that Vicente was the mastermind behind the extortion and murder of his sister, Blas Garrido will got jail time for his participation in causing the accident. Damian Becker was released because it was deemed that she acted in self-defense. This is case is now closed but two families will be united for the rest of their lives because of a tragedy due to a betrayal, because they fell into temptation”.
Laura signs off, goes to her boss and quits, he thinks she is crazy because all these stations now want her. She does not want them; she will write a book about this story and along the way re-write her own story.
Mia goes to see Nico and before she can apologize to him he says he is sorry. She says he is perfect because why should he apologize, he says for being with Alina. She says she is sorry for everything she did to push him away. She says she loves him and kisses him and then walks away. He calls her and tells her and says “I hope you find happiness”
Godoy gets home and sees that Cynthia has set up the table for dinner. Cynthia says that it is finally a home. He says “yes with you here it is” They say they love each other and kiss.
Damian is taken to Miriam’s house; he will now live with her. She tries to welcome him but he tells her “this is my punishment, to be here with you in the place I detest, I deserve it” “this will be a punishment for you as well, mom”

Nico goes to visit Lola and Bebo she lets them know that Alina was sentenced to 10 years. Rueda got the same. Lola asks if he is ok, he confirms that he is. But enough about Nico, he wants Lola and Bebo to come with him.
Antonio takes an arrest order to Miriam, lets her know that the judge declined her request for house arrest “so get your things, you are going to a women’s prison” She goes into the house walks around feeling dejected. She goes into her room and gets a picture frame with Damian’s photo she sits there for a while hugging the picture.
Leo walks Mia home and tells her that he will help her father to rehabilitate. And says that if she lets him he can help her too (wink, wink) she says “I am not good for anyone” he seems saddened, {but I say to him run Forest run}

Antonio figures that Miriam has taken far too long and goes in, and finds that she has done what her granddaughter always toyed with, she slashed her wrist using a piece of glass from the broken picture frame. {The wicked witch is dead and Antonio continues to prove his incompetence}
Nico is showing Lola and Bebo a beautiful apartment, Santi comes down with Benji and asks him to give Lola the keys. Santi and Nacho got the apartment for Lola and Bebo to start their lives together. He wishes them good luck and then Lola asks him when are you going to be happy?

At Raquel’s house a very medicated Raquel and Fede talk. He comes to tell her he is leaving to go live with Luz. “Luz? Are you sure? We love you the way you are, the way you think, you don’t have to do anything to satisfy us, you have to find the person that makes you happy. You don’t owe anyone an explanation. All I want is you to be happy with whoever you want to be with. I want you to be happy, don’t lie to yourself” In a very tender moment they hug each other. Fede is truly touched by his mother’s expression of love.

Santi and Raquel are alone in their own rooms, their beautiful song begins to play (I want to be again the one that loved you, a kids game…..and on and on) and they both call each other at the same time. Fortunately Santi tries again.
“Hi my love” she says, “are you going to accept my proposal?” he says
“I would love to but” he stops her and says: I can’t be without you”
Fede goes into Mia’s room and tells her that he is going to leave and is going to go live with Icker (yes, he finally figured it out). Mia does not over react for once. Fede asks her to please try and be happy. She says she can’t because she still loves Nico. Fede tells her that there is one way that she can be happy; by letting everything go.
At the Alvarado’s house Nico comes out and says it is done, Santi gets home and wonders what Lola is doing home, she tells him they have something important for him, Mia goes into Raquel’s room and tells her that she wants her mom to be happy, she wants something for her, Mia {yes Mia} says “I want you to be happy if you are happy then I can be happy” Raquel asks what are you trying to tell me?

Lola and Nico bought airplane tickets for Santi and Raquel so that they can go on a romantic getaway. Thank you kids, they all have a big family hug with Benji in the middle {this is the last time we see that cutie}.
At their getaway, Santi and Raquel are enjoying themselves thoroughly, they walk down the beach holding hands and hugging and kissing each other. They make time for a little love making, and declare how they do not want to be anywhere else other than here in each other’s arms.
“What?”
“You fascinate me”
“I want to spend the rest of my life with you
“Me too”
“Yes?”
“Yes”
“you know you taught me to be a better man, to not have any prejudices, I learned how to love, how to care, how to laugh, and without knowing it everything I learned I did it with you, what I am is thanks to you”
“I love you”
“You gave me a second life, you gave me the opportunity to be happy and I love you”

 Santi is about to get down on one knee to ask Raquel to marry him when he realizes he forgot the ring, he is embarrassed and asks he for 5 minutes {why, why, why?}
“Wait for me don’t move” she says Ok and laughs with him about it
While he goes to get the ring Raquel stands at the most beautiful, serene setting, she begins to hear voices, she hears herself with her doctor. She recalls the conversation that she had about having a baby and that the baby would be born, like Mia and herself (referring to their mental problems) and she sounds like she is under a lot of anguish, the doctor tells her to stop thinking like this it only hurts her

Scene goes to Damian who is standing by Carolina’s grave, we hear Antonio’s voice asking Damian who was in that third car, he yells “nobody”, he also is hearing the doctor telling him that what Raquel has is a dissociative disease due to stress.
Back to Raquel she hears Antonio asking who was driving that third car. Raquel begins to walk on the beach and we hear Jovita’s voice “when these things happen to her she can’t remember anything”

Raquel begins to remember exactly what happened the night Carolina was killed and viewer Ville finally gets their answer. Vicente is attacking Carolina, she is trying to get away, he knocks her down is choking her and then gets her up  as he is doing this we get a glimpse of Damian on the floor when all of sudden we see a woman’s boot, It’s RAQUEL. She looks dazed and confused, not really there, Damian begs her to please go help Carolina. Raquel instinctively picks up the plot gun (which we now know Vicente brought to the scene). She aims towards the commotion and in absolute fear pulls the trigger and shoots the gun hitting and killing Carolina, it appears that Carolina does see who shot her, but we will never know. Damian is shocked at the unraveling of events, but is in his right state of mind and says “leave Raquel, get out of here” Raquel still dazed and confused leaves again instinctively, we see as she staggers up the hill not really feeling, seeing, sensing, knowing.. Damian has to act fast grabs the gun wipes Raquel’s prints off of it on Carolina’s coat. He cries over her and tells her “no my love no” he picks up Carolina and carries her closer to the car. Damian is remembering this scene at Carolina’s grave site. He has a gun, points it at his temple and pulls trigger as the camera pans to the sky.

Back at the beach, Raquel has recalled the entire episode, at this revelation Raquel is inconsolable, the realization that she is responsible for killing Carolina and everything that followed is too much, and she literally, goes in sane there is no medication potent enough to make this go away. At that moment she is no longer in control, her screams, tears, and all sanity leave her. She remains on the rocks on the beach as waves hit her, she does not move, the waves continue pounding her so severely that one final wave hits her and we see her being swallowed by the waves, screaming uncontrollably, desperately. FIN

Now patio draw your own conclusions, did she drown, or did Santi get back in time we will never know. But what we do know is that nothing will ever be the same.

Wow everyone, I am spent. I could not be more excited. This TN had it all and I am so glad I signed up for this. The final scene will remain with me for a long time, so creative, such a great depiction of what mental illness must be like; overwhelming, all consuming, and uncontrollable. All I have to say is thank you patio for allowing me the chance to recap, vent and for sharing the experience of this very well written, performed, directed TN with all of you. GG has hit another homerun IMHO. I will see this one again .Thank you to Urban, Jardinera, Princess Juju and Anita it was great working with you. Until the next one.

WOW. What an amazing recap for an amazing ending to this TN! Thank you!

I’m herecause I’m still in shock over this finale! I tried to keep up with the recaps but I was often behind on some episodes but finally caught up to watch the finale with the patio! Looking forward to reading all the comments.

I hate that we have to draw our own conclusions on whether Raquel drowned or not but overall it was a satisfying ending to this story.

Did Uni cut some of those scenes? Cause I swear I missed the scene where Damian moved back with his mom.

IMO there could have been more things wrapped up like what is Nico going to do now, we didn’t see if Juan got his comeuppance in jail, and no one mourned poor Azucena.

Sandie, thank you for the outstanding recap that captured this outstanding final episode perfectly. Also, a final thanks to all of the recappers who covered this challenging novela so well.

I liked the first episode a lot (it hooked me) but loved the Raquel/Damián/Santiago confrontation, and the final episode. The ending was masterful and satisfying. That being said, I tired of all of the dark secondary plot lines, unlikeable characters like Juan, Alina, Mia, etc., etc., the endless flashbacks, too much time devoted to the offspring, etc. I would have liked this much better at a well edited 50 episodes.

See you all on the patio for another novela some time!

Sandie: I enjoyed the ending last night. I wasn't quite shocked it was Raquel who whacked Carolina. Once I saw the boots, I KNEW it was her.

Jarifa: I found it ironic that both Damian & Mommy Dearest Becker both offed themselves.

I wonder who'll tell Fede & Nora Gaxiola 2.0 about what happened to their parents ? Nora Gaxiola 2.0 is going to need Leo for comfort.

One last comment: Silvia Navarro and Gabriel Soto both hit it out of the park for this one.

Great work, Sandie. My favorite line was Bullets fly by and one of them finds its way into the area where a heart should have been in Andres’ body, he goes down like the heartless fiend he is. That is an apt description of this little creep.

It was miraculous that neither Federico nor Santiago was hit during the shootout in the OK Corral, but something good had to come out of this. But why would Federico lie to Raquel about whom he will be living with? She has never been any less than supportive of him. Or did he lie to Mia?

I was prepared for there to be no happy ending in view of GG's track record and I was right. I was half right about Raquel being the shooter; just wrong about how it played out.

More to follow in my usual format.

Jarifa: I'm hoping Santiago rescued Raquel.

He did went to get the ring for "5 minutes".

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

The Good

Casting and Performance:
Perfect. Should have swept the awards although it didn't.

Writing: Excellent with no filler, although there were a few loose ends and unanswered questions.

Wardrobe and Makeup: Excellent and appropriate, with one exception (see the Bad)

The Bad (Minor)

Handling of Timelines:
Needed better differentiation with hair and makeup. Only Raquel had a different hairstyle; something could have been done with the daughters' hairstyles and/or Damián's and/or Vicente's hairlines.

The Ugly

Univision's Editing
although I think I figured out the reason for that.

The Unexpected

The sheer banality that was Andres:
He was a coward in the end, unable to carry out another murder after Azucena. We also didn't get a plot point with him trying to kidnap or rape Raquel after murdering Azucena. This seems like a message that evil is usually banal rather than spectacular.

Loose Ends and Unanswered Questions

– What happened to the three frat boys who tried to rape Mia and the mean girls who set her up?
– Is Juan permanently locked up?
– What did Miriam actually do to Damián?
– Did Andres ever molest Mia?
– What happened to Christian and Gabriela?
– What was the Becker financial state after all this?
– Did Damián off himself because of losing Carolina, conscience about what he did to his family, or because Miriam committed suicide (and where was he when that happened)?
– Did Raquel know about Damián's suicide when she left with Santiago for the beach or is that happening at the same time?
– Will Santiago arrive in time or Raquel die after the tide comes in?
– If the latter, will Mia commit suicide after that?

Karmageddon Scorecard

Miriam: 10 out of 10
This was a Roman matron's exit. That was how she saw herself (right down to the incest, like Nero's mother). However, suicide isn't honorable in the modern world.

Alina, Rueda: 10 out of 10
Guardians of the law who violate it deserve to suffer at its hands.

Vicente: 10 out of 10
He was too tormented by too many things and could not be the man he should have been. He was beyond the point of return.

Andres: 8 out of 10
I would have preferred to see him humiliated in prison.

UA: I also anticipated no happy ending as well. My wife, Alicia told me Raquel was the shooter & I thought she was crazy.

The only couple who had the happy ending was Lola & Bebo. I'm also assuming little Benji will be living with either Nico or with Lola & Bebo.

On Nora Gaxiola 2.0: she's going to need Leo if & when she gets the news about Raquel possibly drowning.

UA: I believe Psycho Juan is locked up in maximum prison.

More later.

I left out a comment about Laura, which is that rather than getting a Karmageddon she woke up to the reality of what she had been doing. She made a good life choice for her conscience, to become a crime writer. That makes her answerable only to the truth, well-told. She is capable of that. She could have been tempted to chase television fame but knew that the risk was probably not worth the reward.

The last scene between Cinthia and Fernando is the only one in which this actress didn't look ugly.

As to why I think Univision sliced and diced is that Telemundo had two debuts last week. They probably found out about that somehow and decided not to risk losing viewers with (if they had not cut 20 episodes in half) 4 more weeks to go.

Thanks, Sandie. Splendid recap of the gran final.

Bullets fly by and one of them finds its way into the area where a heart should have been in Andres’ body, he goes down like the heartless fiend he is. -- my fave too

{but I say to him run Forest run} -- sweet humor in this grim tale

Glad to see Santiago is the nice guy hero I originally thought he was. I wound up suspecting everybody EXCEPT Raquel, Dam, and Vicente. Kudos to the writers for keeping up the mystery, but how sad that it was Raquel, who was trying only to save her husband’s lover. What pain Dam has dragged her through. Three suicides in one episode. A fourth would be too much. So I say Raquel gets out of the water safely and, over time, comes to accept the fact that the death was an accident as she was trying to shoot Caro’s attacker but suddenly the two turned and she hit Caro instead. But can Raquel handle not telling Santi the truth? Could he handle the truth?

Alina’s involvement in the money laundering was off. She was much smarter than Rueda, this didn’t make sense to me, but I’m glad to see her off to prison.

Fede accepted that he's gay and, instead of Luz as he originally announced, decided to move in with a guy, right?

A shame no one was shown mourning faithful Azucena. Without her, they couldn't have taken down Andres & goons.

Niecie, I agree. Alina's involvement in the money-laundering was right out of left field. She spent most of the series looking to get Rueda for his ill actions but ended up being just as corrupt; she just had a better cover for her actions. Anyone can be greedy but she had adequate legal skill to get rich legitimately.

I also agree that Raquel committing suicide would have been too much, which is why the ending scene was left ambiguous. The voices in her head included Antonio's, which I think is meant to tell us that he allowed Damian to take the blame for the accidental killing of Carolina for the sake of Raquel, Fede, and Mia. Antonio would also keep this quiet for Santiago's sake, as he is the son of Antonio's old friend and colleague.

The ultimate question would be whether Raquel could keep this secret from Santiago for the rest of their lives. They had promised to always be up front with each other and this is the one thing that could break that. However, is she the only other one who knows? The way she and Mia looked at each other at the police station I wonder whether Mia saw what happened.

Updated Body Count:

1.) Carolina Rivas

2.) Daddy Rivas

3.) Patricia Vargas

4.) Young Prostitute

5.) Sammy Rueda

6.) Azucena

7.) Andres Becker: he had it coming!

8.) Kingpin's Thugs

9.) Several law enforcement officers

10.) Vicente Rivas

11.) Mommy Dearest Becker

12.) Damian Becker

13.) Raquel Cohen ?

Wow super depressing ending.

First off, thank you to Sandie, Jardinera , Urban, Anita and Princess Juju for your amazing work! This TN had so much going on.

I think Raq dies in the waves. Either way she would never be able to marry or be happy with Santi after this. Thus, Poor Santi has lost a second woman he's loved. Heartbreaking all around.

Dam's suicide shocked me. I don't know why but it did. We never see how his children treat him after the confession. I would have thought he would have tried to win them back.

Miriam killing herself surprised me too. I didn't think she had it in her.

Disappointed Alina didn't get shot in the crossfire. Or that Laura seems to be doing fine.

Mia was concerned about her father recovering, so Damian didn't lose her. Fede is certainly capable of understanding "accidental" shooting, so he wouldn't have lost him. They still had their outstanding issues but it was all still workable. He did lose Raquel, though, and -- on top of Carolina -- that was too much for him.

Unless they were stony broke at the end of the case (which could have been fixed eventually) there was no reason he had to move back in with Mommy Direst. He could have gotten an apartment temporarily until Raquel moved out of the company-owned house to live with Santiago. New bedroom furniture, carpet, wallpaper, etc., and he could have recovered.... maybe. It was so telling that he committed suicide at Carolina's grave. Laura's book on the case will be a best-seller thanks to that.

Miriam's suicide didn't surprise me at all. She was such a snob could you imagine her in a prison cell block full of women who grew up poor and possibly within families dedicated to crime? I agree that this would have been an excellent punishment for her, but one she wouldn't survive mentally.

BTW, did anyone else notice the paintings on the walls of her downstairs rooms? They are all copies or style-imatative of paintings of hell by Michaelangelo and other artists of his era.

Carvivlie: TMZ Laura quitting her job wasn't surprising.

The Gran Final was well EPIC & kept giving us twists until the very last minute.

Thank you Sandie. I’d say the ending was mostly satisfying. For the record I didn’t watch La Candidata but I know how it ended.

I expected Univision to cut or somehow censor the Vicente hanging scene. I’m surprised they didn’t. Kudos to whoever was involved with that scene making it look so realistic.

I wonder where Damian was when Antonio and co came to formally arrest Miriam. He was already supposed to be living with her. I was just a little shocked that she offed herself.

The whole gun battle where Andres was killed and Alina arrested was a bit much. I too was surprised that Santiago was unarmed and not even given a bulletproof vest or something. Godoy should’ve helped him out. Ultimately I think the karmaggedons of Andres, Alina, and Rueda were fair.

I would’ve thought that Damian would’ve stayed alive for his children but I guess the guilt and sadness was just too much. I was surprised that it seemed like throughout the story he didn’t care about Raquel’s illness but yet when she shot Carolina he told her to leave the scene.

Laura left with her head held high. Were there any other news stories worth reporting though haha

I liked the ambiguity of the ending. Maybe Raquel’s illness won. Who knows.

Thank you Sandie and all the recappers for a wonderful ride. Incidentally, though Caer en tentacion used Amar despues te amar as inspiration as the Univision credits announce, the motivation and characters were quite different in the end. G.G and the cast excelled themselves and the ending was ambiguous as in La Candidata. In Amar, all ended well and the Santi and Raquel retired to the countryside to raise Benji. Azucena, the mistress of Damian's father inherited half of the business and ran it with Fede, etc. etc. Damian killed Carolina as I think he was jealous of her having a baby with Santi. They were planning to leave in a year. He was buried next to Carolina as their love was eternal and would continue in the next life.

In all respects, Caer in tentacion was much better and painted the characters as real people instead of the usual telenovela happy ending. At least this is my opinion.

I theorize the following: Santiago probably saved Raquel before she drowned and she confessed to killing Carolina. Because her mind was gone, Raquel was institutionalized for the rest of her life. Antonio knew the truth as well & decided to let sleeping dogs lie. Santiago decided to keep quiet about Raquel killing Carolina for the sake of his children as well as Raquel's. Santiago legally adopted Benjamin (since both parents were dead and Benjamin's blood relatives---the children--- did not oppose it). Santiago never married again, instead dedicating himself to being a good father, grandfather and friend and building homes.

Nico & Mia never saw each other again. After Damian's suicide & Raquel's institutionalization, Mia killed herself. There was nothing left in life for her and she didn't want to try to find out.

Fede took his inheritance to rebuild LeGato from the ground up. He hired Nico as his business partner.

Lola & Bebo married and had a girl, and named her Carolina.

Cinthia & Godoy married and had a girl, and named her Raquel.

Laura wrote a fiction novel called "Caer en Tentacion" based on the Carolina Rivas/Damian Becker case and revealed the Raquel character to be the killer at the end. Nico, Lola and Fede were outraged but Santiago & Antonio knew it was the truth and didn't challenge it.

Benjamin found a copy of the novel years later and started reading it...

I hope GG releases the alternate endings. Heard there were at least 5. But in the meantime you can find the bloopers on YouTube.

Anon207: I like your detailed theory. However, I believe Raquel offed herself.

TF: We'll find out soon enough if GG releases alternate endings.

I have difficulty with the idea of Raquel dying either literally or figuratively, which would be ending up like her mother. I'd like to think she could be helped. She did not kill on purpose and would not kill again except in defense of someone else.

Damian told Raquel to leave the scene because he knew then that he was going to take the fall for it. Considering that Vicente had been drunk and violent the story he concocted was believable.

Alternate endings? Por favor! I really hate that. The mere suggestion of that made the finales of LQLVMR and Teresa mediocre.

As for Vicente's suicide, it was believable. He couldn't live with himself after blackmailing the sister he once killed to protect.

Slightly OT: Who will be watching Por Amar Sin Ley? I am currently going through the elenco information and the cast will be very good. I will post this later. If there are enough takers I volunteer to do the opening episode and subsequent Mondays.

It's been established that Raquel goes out of it during periods of extreme stress. Knowing she killed someone (accidentally or not) while in one of her states & caused all these people all sorts of problems afterwards would cause her extreme stress. I think Santiago saved her from physically drowning but could not save her from mentally/emotionally drowning & I think she ended up in the mental hospital for the rest of her life. Santiago probably visited her at the hospital for the rest of her life, too.

Mia probably succumbed to her mental illness as well.

Cinthia & Godoy may have adopted a child (since Cinthia had to have been pushing 40 herself) and Mia's death, Raquel's hospitalization & Cinthia's adoption would've stopped the Cohen mental illness chain. Obviously if Fede is going to be in relationships with men, he can't physically have a child with another man so Fede & his partner would've either adopted or used the partner's sperm to father a child.

Damian took the fall because the entire situation was his fault. It was the first courageous thing he did in his life. Killing himself at Caro's grave was the second.

Raquel is a strong woman, despite her inherited illness, and innovations in medicine and treatment are happening all the time. She wouldn't want to leave Mia and Fede with both their parents as suicides. Santi is sweet but tough. I'd like to think he'd help Raquel overcome the accident.

Slightly OT: Urban, It would be wonderful if you decide to recap Por Amar Sin Ley! I like the cast and plan to watch the premiere, though I no nothing about the plot. The ads seem like a Mexican L.A. Law to me.

I'd love to know Silvia Navarro's opinion on Raquel's fate.

Just posted cast photos and descriptions of PASL. I think the descriptions may be slightly off in at least a few of the examples, but the cast looks great.

Can't wait to watch the episode and read the recap and comments. Got back from NYC yesterday, just ahead of the cancellation of all Amtrak service from Boston to DC because of the winds. We were delayed over an hour because of a fallen tree on the catenary line (that's what the conductor told us--it delivers power to the engine) and we were single-tracking.

Once home I found our power out because of a downed tree in a neighbor's yard. It was too much to expect the power to come back on before 10, so, sadly, I went to bed. Everything is back on now...clocks first, stove and microwave second, computer third, cable and TV monitor fourth. (But I'm going to sneak a read of the recap with a second cup of coffee first.)

I heard PASL is good so far. I'm gonna watch it. I like Zepeda so....lol

I know the cast said that they filmed a few different endings but GG didn't tell them beforehand which one she was going to use. When it aired in MEX I saw video clip that Ferro posted on Instagram that he watched the finale with his mom (some of the rest of the cast watched it together somewhere) and at the end his mom said "Dime por favor que la sacaste del agua" to which Ferro replies "No la saque del agua"

Thanks Sandie and all recappers for doing extraordinary work during this TN.

GG left Viewerville (and cast!) with surprise endings and judged by the above comments each has her/his own spin on what it meant and what happened after Raquel was swept out to sea.

I liked the secondary plots, especially the lives of the kids. It would not have been the same TN without them. And since everyone else has commented on their 'theory' as to what happened in the finale, I'll limit my comments to Fede. GG gave a fair amount of time to his character. And I think she allowed for the following take on Fede's preferences: When he said to Raquel he was moving in with Luz (and Raquel gave him the talk about just be happy and choose who you want) and then told Mia he was moving in with a guy and told her to just be happy, I think Fede was going to pursue both of them. GG left me with impression Fede was a complicated yet sincere genuine bi-sexual!

A great TN.

I have a theory about something. When Mia and Fede were following Damian and Carolina, a car cut them off. Could that maybe have been Raquel? They obviously didn’t drive all the way to the crash site, but Raquel did.

I don't know if the cut-off car was Raquel or Vicente. But the twins did arrive at the accident scene...they just didn't know it was the accident scene of Damian & Carolina, so they kept driving.

That makes me wonder how did Raquel know what road Damian & Carolina were traveling on? The twins knew Damian & Carolina were in the SUV but Raquel wouldn't have known because it was a rental car, unless she was following the twins.

Patio thanks for all the comments. I was surprised with the ending but not disappointed. The fact that GG tackled such contemporary topics as mental issues, lgbt issues, cutting, and combined them with the typical TN issues of infidelity, love, betrayal etc , etc. and did it so well makes this one of my favorites. I am a fan of GG and Silvia Navarro and now more so. This was quite a ride and I for one don’t need an alternate ending this one was superb.

First off A huge Thank you to all the
Recappers, you guys are amazing with all the back and forth of time jumps.
You guys kept up with it. brilliantly!

The actors were really good. But what
Really kept my interest was the weeks
Before the ending.I just wanted to see
Who did it.

GG just had to darken the happily ever
After.There was a happily,it just was
Not ever after. Santi & raquel were
Happy for a few days, but then she had
The memories come back at what would
Have been the happiest day of her life
After going through hell for 3 years.
I don't think she drowned,I think santi got back in time to save her, and It would not have been suicide, she just lost awareness of where she was, in the ocean. Santi saved her.
And nobody else committed freaken suicide, Mia got help fell in love with leo, went to school and became a
Physical therapist.Fede is happy with
His choice. Nico became a really good
Lawyer, Damian found a grocery cart &
Is now living in the cemetery next to Carol's grave.

Raquel got help not locked up in a
Psych ward for the rest of her life.
She helps him with his house building
career and they amass a large fortune
And she helps people that suffer with
The kind of mental illness she suffers from.

And little benji is a Happy little camper.
Didn't like the loose ends.

This was a good story but I am spent.
Thanks to all.

Nina: Little Benji was cute & always fun.

Sandie, your screen shot of Raquel was haunting. Inspired, carefully crafted recap.

Like Anita, we lost power and I was unable to watch this.

I will first say thank you Sandie and to all the recappers for your exceptional work, your thoughtful analysis, your razor sharp comments. Such an intelligent, thoughtful group of recappers and commenters.

Raquel was high on the suspect list lately, I can't say I'm totally shocked.

Not seeing this, was it clear Raq was trying to shoot Vincente and not Caro? This being an accident rather than purposeful makes all the difference.

The suicides were grim, but in retrospect, not unexpected. I think Damian killed himself because he felt his life ended with Caro's. I belive he did truly love her.

Just punishment for the many villains here.

Mia finally seems to realize that she is "not good for anyone". I don't know if she will ever be able to rid herself of her demons.

I just watched a short clip of the last few minutes. I believe Raq was swept away in the water. Was it cruelty or kindness?

Sobering. Devasting and Consuming.

Thank you.

Diana

I often wonder what sort of toxic family produced Raquel and Cinthia. The only information we have is that their mother was mentally ill and died in a facility, but what drove that? There had to have been something there that affected both Raquel and Cinthia. I refuse to lay all of the responsibility on DNA.

Birds of a feather flock together so this was part of the attraction between Damian and Raquel back in the day and later Damian and Carolina. This was what allowed Raquel to stand up to Miriam when she had to, although the stress of dealing with her must have contributed to her vulnerability.

Diana, I think Raquel was trying to shoot Vicente. I don't recall her ever meeting him in the past and if I'm right about that she would not have known he was Carolina's brother. She might have thought that shooting him would have saved Carolina from rape or murder. She was clearly shocked that the bullet hit Carolina, so she didn't intend to kill her.

Damian probably recognized that Raquel was in a disassociative state and wanted her to get out of there before she realized what had happened. He may have thought at that moment about what to tell police but then got knocked out by Vicente. Someone said a while back that he was playing mute for a while after waking up. That could be the case and he could have been working on what he was going to say if the investigation decided to finger him.

What ifs, maybes,who's, when's wheres,
How's,if onlys.Some things got settled
But then some things didn't. I don't
Endings like these. The bad guys got
Theirs but the good guy seemed to have
Been left hanging. That's why I prefer
To make up my own endings. Not all the
Way happy but satisfying. Cuz life is
Not always happily ever after. Just
Happy, with some thorns that we learn to live with. That would work with raq
And santi, cuz they have thorns around
Them.

That photo of Raquel depicts her past
And future. Not much happiness in any
Of it.

Clearly it can be interpreted either way whether or not Raquel meant to shoot Carolina or was trying to shoot Vicente. We don’t know for sure if she had ever wielded a gun before but it kinda looked like she knew what she was doing despite her disassociative state.

Obviously that’s the beauty of GG’s work.

In the prior times they've given the scene of Carolina being shot, it seemed quick and accidental. But in Raquel's final memory Carolina was shown facing her a bit too long and then she shoots her. It seemed intentional, especially the look she gave Damian after he yells in horror. I think she got her revenge.

I also think the scenes of Raquel's and Damian's endings were happening at the same time. It's possible Mia followed after them.

Thanks to everyone for the recaps.

Anon1146

I think the part of her that was sane
And the part of her that was suffering
From the disassociativeness was there.
Both were in pain because of that woman and her husband which equals a
Very sad hot mess of confusion. With
that much hurt and pain goin on in heart And head, and whatever voice was
Telling her "stop the pain, shoot"she
Pulled the trigger. We will never know
Who she met to shoot.Thank GG.tho some
Ends were tied up, some weren't. What
Beauty is there in that? I can see it,
But I don't like it.Lol. Ok, hey maybe
Her next one will have an ending we can....walk away from without so many
What ifs,and hows, and what happeneds.
What ever!I hope we have this much fun with the next tn.

Sandie:
"into the area where a heart should have been in Andres’ body" and "run Forest run" were my favorites --and I loved the screen shots you chose. I appreciate the filler for the conversations I couldn't quite figure out.

This was the best fin at the fin of the Gran Fin I have ever watched. It is a guess but I figured she let herself drown. Anyway, I think somehow Raq had gotten hold of Azu and learned of the car rental and repair and followed with a company car from the gas station and that dark car was the car that was burned later on. How or why who knows, except Dam could have done it before succumbing to his head injuries and the shock. Pure adrenaline. Anyway, that they showed him at Caro's gravesite killing himself was perfection.

Everybody recapping with me did a great job recapping especially for the time travel we had to put up with. I will be helping with PASL if Urban can find a place for me. Thanks to the whole patio for taking the time to visit although I wasn't always available to partake. Also those of you who caught all the bad weather up north I hope you've managed to survive comfortably.

See you on the next one!

Nina I too wanted a happy ending, however GG did an excellent job revealing what actually happened. I rather have the truth then a sugar coated ending. When Garrido told about the third car we saw a dark car park behind Vicente’s car. Without seeing Raquel being the killer I feel we would have been left wondering who did it. Not a good alternative. The haunting music, the beautiful scene at the edge of the ocean, Raquel’s beautiful dress, and the depth of her anguish at the revelation of her actions, were all a carefully crafted finale by GG and her team. Can’t wait for her next TN.

Nina: Cinthia managed to overcome her demons & get a happy ending with Godoy.

Sandie: I do recall "La Candidata" ending with a sniper pointing at Silvia Navarro in the Gran Final.

You think Nora Gaxiola 2.0 offed herself in all likelihood ?

Jardinrea I don't think Damian would
Have had time to go burn the car and get back to Carolina. He was already in the hospital weeks after they got
To the burnt car. Unless I missed that
Part.

Nina: Raquel KNEW what she was doing when she whacked Carolina.

Sandie--Finally read your recap. I couldn't wait any longer for the episode to show up on OnDemand (it hasn't). Thank you for the thorough recap, as you have always offered.

I'm so sad, I really didn't want it to be Raquel, for Santi's sake and for Fede's. What else can I say...it was a terrific production and kept us on the edge of our seats speculating the whole time. It was also a bit disappointing that after all we went through it wasn't a REAL murder-mystery with motive at all. It was an accidental shooting.

I wish Giselle all the more success that she has already had with these three telenovelas we've had the privilege to watch. (I don't want to make comparisons, but when I saw a photo of her, she even looks a little like Carla Estrada.)

I read the list of TVyNovelas Premio winners and was disappointed, sad, then angry that Silvia Navarro continues to be denied any recognition for her incredible portfolio of protagonistas she has portrayed in her career. I don't know what else she could do at this point. I feel, though, that she is one tough cookie and she cares more about the quality of work she gives to each producer and director. I hope Giselle will keep her in mind for future novelas.

I'm also sad this telenovela is over and this particular community of dedicated recappers and commenters has come to an end. I'm not sure we'll see another telenovela of this quality for some time to come, but I hope we can all come together again.

Hasta Pronto,
Anita

ITA, Anita it was accidental. The poor woman went through hell because of her so-called friend&incredibly unfaithful husband. At least give her that little
Bit of a break. While this was a good show it was abit depressing.Nobody was
Happy, except on The end, and that was
Taken away. I guess that is life. Not.
All the time GG. She's good at what she does so I'll probably get hooked again.

I don't believe that Raquel was trying to save Carolina or accidentally shot her. I think Raquel intentionally shot Carolina, because Carolina was running away with HER husband. She wouldn't have done so if she were in her right mind, though.

I think Raquel called Andres to find out about Damian's supposed business trip and Andres told her all about Damian running away with Carolina. Azucena wouldn't have told Raquel a thing.

Andres later took the company car Raquel was driving and had it burned & left by the side of the road after the accident happened.

IMO Antonio knows that Raquel was either the killer or involved but he can't prove it so he decided to accept the official explanation.

I think Damian did love Raquel as his wife & mother of his children but she had too many problems for him to be IN love with her. Losing Carolina was like losing his life so he made it official.

Losing both of her parents would've been too much and Mia would've followed them. She already felt she had nothing really to live for and she really didn't want to find out.

IMO Blas Garrido saw Raquel pull up, get out, come back and drive away. He may have seen the twins' car pull up to the scene too but they kept going, so he probably thought they were just random motorists. He may have had thoughts of blackmailing the Beckers but decided not to get involved. But he may have popped up looking for blackmail from Raquel at a later time.

Antonio knows there was a third car involved; the Legato company car just convenently burnt up on the side of the road is too coincidental. But he has no proof. If Laura puts on her thinking cap and kept seeking the answer of "Who was driving the 3rd car?" she'd figure it out. But she wouldn't be able to prove it because everyone involved is dead* except Santiago, who was a hapless victim. That's why I think Laura would've written a novel based on the Damian/Caro case and had the Raquel character revealed as the killer.

*I still think Santiago was able to rescue Raquel physically in time but she emotionally drowned and remained in the mental hospital for the rest of her life.

Or, Santiago drowned himself trying to save Raquel from drowning and they both perished.

What a great finale to a telenovela that was a combination of a murder mystery and a story like Random Hearts, a movie about two people who become a couple after their spouses die in a plane crash and are discovered to have been lovers!

I believe Raquel did it intentionally. She was high on my list of suspects, along with Santiago and Damian.

Aleta

Anon207: That would suck for Nico & Lola to lose both parents IF Santiago drowned himself as he was trying to save Raquel.

Aleta: I'm sticking with my bet that Raquel KNEW what she was doing & did it intentionally without any regard of the ramifications it would follow.

Anon207: You think TMZ Laura KNEW Raquel was the killer ?

Anon207--I like your take on the events, but I have a couple of questions, if someone could answer, please:
Did Andres actually call Raquel and tell her where they were going? Did he even know the exact location of the "meet-up?"
Wasn't there someone shouting "shoot, shoot" just as the shot was fired that killed Caro (or did someone make that up)? At that instant, it was Vic that had his back to the shooter and only turned a split second later (if the flashback I saw earlier was correct). If that were the case, then I believe Raquel, in her dissociative state, would have done whatever she was told to do. She did apparently leave when Damian told her to.
Was there a solution to how Santi's gun went missing later? How did it get back into Santi's drawer for Raquel to find months after the killing? I've watched that scene at least 3 times and each time, between what she saw and the dialog with Santi, it seems to me there was a gun in the case. If GG wanted to use it as a plot device, it was certainly confusing. Of course, she didn't want us to find out the gun was Santi's dad's for another couple of episodes.

In my mind, Raquel had already realized that Damian was leaving her and therefore, the marriage was over. However, she did need some answers as to why. Dam should have come clean before he ran off with Caro. He was a coward, until the very last moment.

I also liked the idea generated earlier that Caro, once she knew Nico had heard her sexually-charged moans, felt trapped and wouldn't be able to keep up the good-girl act any longer and wanted to leave asap. Dam complied......so, the tickets (to Paris or wherever) weren't for Raquel at all.

I want to believe Santi either rescued Raquel--temporarily, maybe, or drowned going after her. In this latter scenario, only Benji would have been seriously affected. Probably Lola and Bebo would have raised him, but Lola had already shouldered a lot during the past 3 years and deserved some free time to love and be loved by Bebo.

As for Caro, she was the tragic figure--not as bad as Vic kept saying she was, not good enough to call off Dam before they got in too deep. There should never have been a cabana, unless or until they each decided to leave their respective spouses. As Diana has said throughout, for what we saw her do, she did not deserve to die the way she did.

At least Raquel was not saddled with a paralyzed Dam and a resentful Mia for the rest of her days. IMHO, Dam did NOT pay a high enough price for what he initiated and instigated on the two families. Y Punto.

Looking forward to seeing the episode, sometime in the next few days (weeks, months).

I may take a peek at PASL tonight, but don't know if I'll watch it with the same intensity I did this one.

Chau for now,
Anita

Steve, it would also suck for Fede and Mia to lose both of their parents, too. And Benjamin has already lost both of his bio parents.

I don't think TMZ knew Raquel was the killer. The problem for TMZ is most of the main players in this case are dead. She can't prove anything. If Antonio could prove Raquel was the killer, he would have. But he can't so he's accepting the official closing of the case. The only person that could possibly place Raquel at the crime scene is Blas Garrido. Everything else is speculation.

So since Laura is writing a book and likes to make up stories, she could write a mystery novel based on this case and have the Raquel character be revealed as the killer. Because it's "fiction" Raquel's family probably wouldn't be able to come after Laura in a court of law.

The only 3 people who knew Damian & Carolina were running off together were Vicente, Azucena & Andres. Vicente & Azucena would not have told Raquel anything. The only person who would was Andres.

Raquel knew something wasn't right about Damian's goodbye & business trip. IMO only 2 things could've happened:

She went to Legato, questioned Andres about the trip & he told her (and she jumped in the Legato car to chase down Damian/Caro)

or

she questioned Azucena about it, Azucena told her Damian was going on a trip, Raquel saw the same brochures for condos that Lola saw or overheard Azucena making arrangements for the rental car, jumped into the Legato car to chase down Damian/Carolina.

At some point Raquel had to end up at Legato to jump in one of the cars, and Legato is where she found out about Damian/Carolina.

No, Damian did not pay enough for what he did. His cowardice destroyed 2 families. At least Carolina had the last minute courage to ask Santiago for a divorce. I really don't think Damian would have. He would've just left and Raquel can figure it out from here.

Oooh, I thought of something else that didn't jive. Just thought I'd mention it. In Vic's flashback, when he grabs the satchel full of money meant for him and sees it's only paper, he starts pulling it out and strewing it around. I'm surprised anyone had time to pick it all up, put it back in the bag and make it "disappear." Blas Garrido said in his statement they didn't have time to look for the bag with the money in it, so it must have been left there. WHY did we not have the police find the bag and investigate the origin and why it was full of paper--and where did the paper come from. Hmmm. It wouldn't have made as good a story, but....

Thanks, Anon207, any one of your scenarios would work. Raquel would have had to drive the car back to Legato, walked home or taken a taxi, then Andres would have had to drive the car out to wherever it was found and burned it. I wonder why he didn't just leave it in the garage. No one would have been the wiser--unless he wanted Raquel blamed (which he didn't).

Guess what I think I'm going to do....go back and watch the first dozen or so episodes again (saved on my DVR) and watch everyone in "epoca actual" carefully. There's one scene where Mia looks at Nico and says, "Are you happy now?" It could be referring to a number of things I hadn't suspected at the time (but I wrote it down for future reference--that's the librarian in me).

And that is what happened she figured it out. Damian nor carol Carolina suffer enough for the hurt they Brought to their families.
Coming clean would have been better than what they did. And I
Don't give Carol cudos for doing
What Damian asked her to do,aski
Santi for a devorce. And him the
Coward that he was hugging her.
He never meant to ask Raquel.
And then he kills himself? This
Is a declaration of his tainted
Love. The whole mess Was sad and
Messed up. Didn't have to happen
But adultrey is always a mess. And this wrecked two clans alot
More than they already were.
Very sad.

This was not only the best ending i have ever seen in a TN but it was also THE BEST TN i have ever seen and i have been watching them continuously since 1998, sometimes 2 a night and once in a while 3 a night! I had mentioned several weeks back that i hoped it would not be the usual BORING wedding finale we always have and BOY, this sure as heck wasnt that! Lol
I too want to vociferously express my gratitude to all you recappers for a phenomenal job. I’m sooooo appreciative of your efforts and of the wonderful community you have established here in cyberspace.
I will def be watching PASL —- a very hard act to follow CAER! Im surprised it wasnt put in the 9pm slot. It may be like the Good Wife where, though each episode is independent, the main characters remain totally connected in their relationships??? Well i havent read much about it, only saw a teaser once or twice. MIL GRACIAS A TODOS UDS. !!!!!

If both Raquel and Damian died simultaneously its doubtful Mia would have been emotionally strong to withstand that. Just Damian's death would drive her over the edge. Mia's ending was sad because although she finally gave in to Raquel's happiness, we know that it took effort. She tried to change at least.

Anon1146

Thank you to everyone who provided recaps to this great telenovela. I am learning Spanish and understand about 80% of what is being said. So you recaps really help me to fill in the blanks of what I missed. I really appreciate all the time and effort.
