Papa a Toda Madre, Capítulo 33, Friday, March 2, 2018; Meet the Parents!

We come back to the conversation from the previous episode on how Anfier wants to do a presentation and the subject will be her mother. Mauricio looks a little taken back. Renée wants to know why Mauricio has that look on his face. She tells him that after all, didn’t he want Anifer to see him as a friend and not a father? “I did everything I could for her but truthfully, I didn’t realize that she didn’t see me as her father.”

At the hospital, the doctor finishes bandaging up Samuel. The injury is not serious, as it seems to be only a crack in the bone instead of a major fracture. As the doctor leaves, he tells Samuel to behave take care of himself.  Then Jorge comes and sits next to Samuel and asks him how it was that he did not notice that he (Jorge) was shutting the door. Samuel says he really just wasn’t paying attention. Jorge admits too, he didn’t notice and certainly would not have shut the door with such force if he know that Samuel’s hand was there and asks his forgiveness.  Sam then asks if he will have to miss some school to recuperate, but Jorge says “no” since the doctor didn’t mention that. Besides, he does not want Sam to fall behind. As they leave the doctor’s office, Jorge says to Sam, “Let’s give thanks to God that it was nothing worse.” Sam looks up and thanks God and Jorge does the sign of the cross and thanks God.

At the Barrientos home, Toño has fed his children dinner and asks how they liked the service.  It seems that they are not liking the dinner that well as Veronica has not left any premade meals. [It looks like plain pasta with nothing on it.] But they are eating the “gourmet” food anyway. They want to know why there mother isn’t there to eat with them and Toño explains that their mother has a lot of work and must work late. Toño wants to know if they think it’s awful, but the kids are kidding about it. They talk about all the activities that he is going to take them to.

At Jorge’s place Valentina brings out a pot to the table for dinner and complains that Lili doesn’t help in the kitchen. Lili says she doesn’t know how to cook and to ask the brothers to help out. After all the best chefs in the world are men. Sam makes a point by showing his injured hand and saying, “I don’t know if you have noticed, but I can’t.” Jorge says, “Leave him alone, let’s eat our meal in peace.” Baldo thinks he is making a funny by saying that with Sam’s hand like that he won’t be able to “enjoy” himself anymore mentioning some female celebrities such as Katy Perry. They kids start giggling by Jorge is not amused. “This is nothing to laugh at” says Jorge. “I’m not hungry anymore. I’m going to get back to work. End of discussion.” And then Jorge proceeds to leave the room while the kids continue to snicker.

Renée is getting ready to go out the door, but Mauricio stops her and say, “Are you in a hurry?” Renée says she is but stops to give him advice regarding Anifer. She says that Mauricio needs to talk to her like he is her father and not her friend, or uncle or godfather. But Mau thinks he was doing things right. Renée asks him, “So why haven’t you told Anifer about your engagement to Kika? Are you going to keep that a secret the way you did about what happened to her mother?” Mauricio shakes his head and starts to say, “Look, Kika has absolutely nothing…” But someone is at the door, who could it be? Why speak of the DEVIL, it’s Kika! Renée mutters to herself, “how did we invoke this?” [Because she’s the DEVIL, remember?

Kika comes bearing gifts and calls for “la bendición.” (the blessing, referring to Anifer). Kika pulls out several dresses to show to Ani and Ani promptly says NO to the dress(es). After Ani has turned down all the dresses, Mau sends her to the kitchen to eat so he can talk to Kika alone. Mau tells Kika that he talked to Fabian and Fabian confessed that he is in love with her. Kika says she has never led him on at all. Mau explains that Fabian told him that it’s his own thing, but still, he hurts for his friend. They move on to the next subject, their trip to Miami. Mau says they are lacking one thing; the documents he needs to take Anifer out of the country. Mau leave the room to get Ani, but Kika says to herself basically that Anifer is coming with them “over her dead body.”

As Baldo and Sam are getting home from school, Sam is reminding Baldo that they dad said they have to remain in “La Privada” or gated community. While Sam goes in the house, Baldo decides to do some extracurricular activities of his own and starts peeping into the front windows of Flor and Nerón’s place. But he is caught by Nerón. He starts scolding Baldo angrily, saying something to the effect that his hormones are out of control. Flor comes out and they all start arguing. Flor tells Baldo to please go home and do his homework! Flor starts talking about how jealous he is, then something about what Nerón thinks of her—does he really thing she is come kind of cougar?

Meanwhile Lili comes out of the house and finds Pablo. She sits on the swing and asks if he needs any help or wants something to drink. Pablo says he’s good and she asks if he can help her with her math later. He is good at math he says and Lili asks why he isn’t in school. She encourages him to go look into getting into her school because it would be great to be in the same classes together. She gives him a quick kiss and goes to her house. Pablo looks ecstatic; it must be love!

At Mau’s office at Logatoys, Mau is asking Jorge why he can’t take Anifer out of the country. After all she is his daughter. Jorge explains that yes, but no, not legally because legal paternity has not yet been established and is still pending. Jorge says “congratulations on your engagement.” He starts to leave, but Mau calls him back and wants to ask something personal. Mau wants to know why he always brings bad news. However Jorge says that sometimes there is good news, like the patent went through for the toys.  Before Jorge leaves, Mau asks him to stay and sit down a minute because he needs to ask a delicate question of him. The question, since he’s had a “casa chica” and a “casa grande”, no judgement here, “did you ever love more than one woman at the same time?” Jorge is embarrassed tells him he never had a “casa chica” or a casa grande” and then finally tells him, “I only have loved one woman in my life, ever.”

Outside the office, Kika is talking to Anifer asking what she would think about having a new mother, but knows that no one can substitute for Maria. Anifer reiterates that she only has one mother—just ONE mother! Then Kika asks Ani if she would like to go to a boarding school, like in Switzerland, or Canada, or even Patagonia. But Ani very confidently says “NO”. Fabian walks by and then Kika is distracted. Kika tells Ani to entertain herself with Gladys. Then Ani looks up with praying hands and says, “So good that she has gone!”

Renée arrives at the Logatoys office and asks Gladys if Mauricio is available. Gladys gets on the phone to tell Mau that Renée was there to get Anifer. Then Renée asks Gladys if she knows anything about the documents that should payment for master’s degree. Gladys asks about what document. Then Renée informs her that Mauricio is supposed to have Logatoys take charge of her educational expenses. Gladys just laughs and starts getting sarcastic about it all. Mau is outside catching some of this then comes and says that Gladys isn’t involved in this, Fabian is in charge if it all. Gladys walks away and Mau tells Renée that he is planning another trip to Miami, except that he cannot take Anifer with him. So Renée asks, “So who were you planning to leave her with?” “Well” says Mau, “I would feel more at peace if you did. But I do plan to meet Kika’s father and see what happened between the two of them.” Pretty soon Anifer walks in, sees Renée and begs to go home. Mau explains to Ani that paperwork for her is not completed and that’s why he can’t take her out of the country. Then Kika walks in and again she pinches Ani’s check and Anifer slaps Kika’s hand away. [Don’t blame her there, Kika is very intrusive]. Then Kika drops the bomb to Ani: “You father and I are getting married.”

Off to the side somewhere, Kika is questioning Fabian about how he confessed to Mau that he is in love with her. Fabian says that Mau is his “soul brother” and he will not be breaking Mau’s heart that way she is planning to. Kika claims to Fabian that she really loves Mauricio. Then he tells her he hates her and makes his blood boil. Kika says Fabian is a hypocrite, she can smell them from far away. He’s about to try to move in for a kiss but Jorge comes in.

At home, Samuel is on his website where he had uploaded a picture of his injury, but someone there says there isn’t enough evidence. Then Valentina comes in and Samuel is startled and tells Valentina, “Oh why don’t you knock?” She has just come in for a USB drive and then they both start complaining about how messy Lili and Baldo are. Val goes on venting, but Sam isn’t that interested because he wants to get back to his website and is pretending he has a lot of studying to do. Val is a little hurt and walks out saying, “I just wanted to talk with you.”

At the Barrientos house, Toño asks Tania about her recital and then asks Neto about his homework as he folds clothes. Veronica comes home and he tells her he has dinner in oven. Veronica informs him she has to take a business trip to Monterrey.

At Mau’s house, Ani asks Mau about when he gets married to Kika, will he live in Miami? Mau says no, that it’s “me and you forever!” Then Ani says, “When you get married, my mother will come for me.” Then she tells Mau that when it’s time for her presentation, she hopes her mother will be there. Mau also tells her he will not be able to have breakfast with her because he has to leave very early in the morning. Then she goes to bed. Renée and Mau talk a few minutes and she tells him that things are really going to change for both he and Ani once he gets married. Then he asks her about when she is leaving. Renée says, “After you return from Miami. Maybe another four or five days, but then I’m leaving.”

The next morning as Mau is getting ready to leave, he quietly goes into Ani’s room where Renée is also sleeping. Of course Renée is not really sleeping as she observes Mau coming and gazing at Ani. As he starts to walk away, she says, “Aren’t you going to give her a kiss before you leave?” Mau says he just didn’t want to wake Ani up. Renee then says that she will put a pillow over her head to give him a moment of privacy with Anifer before she leaves. But Ani was awake the whole time!

Toño serves his children breakfast the next day. They want to know where their mother is, but he explains that she had to go on a business trip early in the morning. He then explains that it’s going to be their wedding anniversary and the best present he can get is for her to be home with all of them together.

Mau and Kika are at the airport he sees his friend Sebastian who explains he is going to Monterrey. Mau goes back to his seat, then turns around and see that Veronica has joined his friend Sebastian. Mauricio looks surprised and puzzled.

At a Logatoys meeting, Falcon mentions how it is not important for Mauricio to be at their meetings. Fabian says they should wait a few days before making decisions, but Falcon doesn’t think it is necessary. Then Gladys knocks at the door and calls Jorge out. Someone is there to see him. Jorge excuses himself and finds Nerón in his office. Nerón wants to talk to Jorge about his son Baldo. He expresses to Jorge that Baldo has the hots for Flor. Jorge listens but then tells him he does not know how to control Baldo because he is a real terror or a little devil. (piel de Judas; literally skin of Judas, the one who betrayed Jesus).

Mau and Kika have arrived at her family’s mansion. Kika’s sister comes down and is none too happy to meet him. She tells him to get out because no Lopez-Garza is welcome there. Then Kika’s parents come out. She introduces him as her fiancé. “So does he have a name?” says Kika’s father. Kika says she will introduce him but when they hear his name to not get sick. Finally Mau speaks up and says, “Sir, my name is Mauricio Lopez-Garza, son of Bosco Lopez-Garza.” Mr. Braun is not happy and neither is Mrs. Braun. “How could you bring this man here, Kika!” Sister says Kika went crazy and is now in love with this useless person. Mau explains that he needs to find out how all of this went down. Kika says that Mau had nothing to do with what his father did, he knows nothing. Mr. Braun starts exclaiming that Mau’s presence just reminds him of the years he spent in a communist Chinese prison and wants him out of there immediately. Mr. Braun says he will call the police if Mau doesn’t leave.

Jorge’s kids come home and Lili goes to ask Pablo for math help.

At Mau’s house, Renée and Ani talk a little. She asks Ani if she is angry at her father. Ani explains that Mau isn’t like other fathers. He’s not affectionate when she needs him and sometimes it really seems like he isn’t her father. Renée explains that Mau is still learning to be a father. Ani is afraid that now that he will be getting married, he will not have time for her. When he returns, she is going to ask him to contact her mother.

Mr. Braun takes Mau in his office and tells him how hard he worked for everything he has. Then Mau wants to know how it was that he took the blame for fraud when his father was alive.

Cynthia H - thank you for your recap!

Baldo just won't quit bird-dogging Flor. Yeesh.

So, Renee is over her frumpadump phase. Her shirt was unbuttoned as low as it could go for a family telenovela.

I wonder if Sam's Tiburones Azul website is supposed to be trying to stop his habit of .... well .... going blind ... since his hand is out of commission?

Who is the actress that plays Kika's mother? She looks so familiar.

Very Very Nice Cynthia. There were a few things I didn't get, like was that REALLY Vero with the walking bottle of Viagra. I noticed Veronica's hemline had begun to creep up lately too, and was already giving thanks, as that is usually a fairly good predictor.

“Daddy, I'd like you to meet my fiance' Maaww Lopez Goner, Maaaww, this is my Daddy, Rabid Dog Brown.”

Doris I thought the same thing about Mrs Braun.

Anifer's slapping KLika's paw off her cheek does not bother me. I believe in teaching children to fight fire with fire. Sometimes disrespect and physical violence can be the difference in going home or being abducted.

In some places, like everywhere I have ever lived on planet Earth, peeping in a woman's window gets you arrested and maybe a record you can't shake.

Cynthia, thank you for the wonderul recap! I really enjoyed your running commentary in red as well as your screen caps.

doris, Loved “frumpadump”.

Kirby, ITA about boundaries for children. Too bad the slap couldn’t stop Kika from playing mind games with Anifer: asking about boarding school, telling her that she is marrying Mauricio.

There was one scene with Samuel in which Jorge was almost human with his son (like a real father) but then he caught himself and had to return to his hardcore conservative religious self. I guess there is hope. It seems that Samuel was hoping for time off from school to probably spend more time online at the shark site, but no such luck— which is a good thing.

Maybe not so much hope for Baldo who keeps sowing discontent wherever he is. Flor’s comment about being a cougar was funny. At least Nerón told Jorge about his annoying son even though Jorge admitted he had no control over the kid.

I laughed at Mauricio calling Kika’s dad “papi”.

So Kika’s dad is alive but Bosco and Fabián’s dads are dead?

“And Fabián’s dad “

Kirby: Kika's sister is super fierce & Swagger.

Cynthia: I went ROFLOL at the recap's title.

Jarifa: The Braun's aren't messing around.

Doris: Maybe Renee wants to walk around naked.

Thanks so much Cynthia...for the recap and the pictures. I actually watched this early to wipe out the disappointment of the buzzer beater loss to Penn State last night.

Ah yes, that was indeed our lovely Veronica, off to Monterrey on her wedding anniversary, not realizing what her randy colleague has in mind for her.

I know I'm in the minority here but I find Toño endearing. I thought it was cute when he was pretending to be a waiter and asking the kids if the service was up to their standards etc. (Okay, do have to wipe out the memory of poor little Carola poisoned by chocolate). Anyway, clearly life is about to get very dramatic in the Barriento household. I assume Veronica won't get back for their anniversary. Ay yi yi.

We did see a brief thaw in Jorge's frozen shell. One, when he apologized to Samy for hurting him and two, when he said firmly that he had only ever loved one woman (and of course she's deceased).

Love all the scenes with Pablo. Great face, very expressive. Who needs words with a face like that? But clearly the After School Message here is you kids are lucky to be able to go to school. There are many many deserving, intelligent kids who don't get that opportunity because of poverty. So appreciate it instead of complaining!

As long as they keep interspersing comedy between the sermons, I'm fine with it. And my prediction is that Kika will end up with Fabio and be redeemed. My track record is about as bad as Andy Banda's so we'll see.

Jarifa - I noticed that "almost human" moment of Jorge's, too. Is it a sign of hope for redemption?

After the scene where Jorge explained to Mau why Ani could not go to Miami with him, it hit me that Jorge's career as a lawyer is a perfect fit for his personality. He finds comfort in the law. Everything is spelled out. Rules. Rules. Rules. Play by the rules or suffer a penalty.

ITA, Cynthia, love your title.

" Maybe Renee wants to walk around naked." That's not relevant, Andy and I want her too, that's what matters. Her most recent 'Dress', appears to could have been one of Mauricio's shirts with some cutsie appliques and lower inset pockets added.

It is not hard to see the POSSIBLY only thing Kika has going which should save her from going the way of Carola.

Renee, though not as specialized, if you will, is the complete package. Sharp as a tack, compassionate, not...bad...looking..and can repaint a house in an afternoon. Yowzers.

JudyB, I think Veronica is in on it. Does Sebastian even work for the same company? I can't remember any episode where we were shown that he does. Does he even work at all? Plus, if Vero were not sneaking, why didn't she pop up and say Hi to her neighbor when he came over to talk to Seb? But the other crucial clue I saw was a glimpse recently of her off to work in a skirt about 4 or 5 inches above the knee, when every other outfit she has worn to work was much lower and more conservative.

This will be fun. My Gaydar and Cheatdar is seldom wrong, so we will see how I do on this one. If I'm wrong, Tonto dodged a bullet with his name on it.

And DRAT..after all those fireworks .we still didn't find out exactly what Mau's Daddy did to Mad Dog Braun.

Kirby, not doubting your radar but hoping my assessment of Veronica's character is right and she would not stoop to adultery. Especially with a superficial dunce like Sebastien. She values her family. So I'm hoping those values keeps her on the straight and narrow.

Well, You know, I had hoped the same thing about Veronica. But then, there has to be some TN way to get her away from Tono. I'd hate to see the effect on her children, but much more time with Tono the way things are going, and they will be past the point of no return. All those three are in that 'formative' window from about two or three to about seven or so and Tono is worse than no Daddy at all.

Not that I relish another adultery story, but mostly I just want to see Tono burned for his lazy irresponsible, lying ways.

But Toño is getting better Kirby. Both doing a better job of cooking, cleaning and getting the kids to their lessons. And he had a point about the new car. That was a decision that should have been taken jointly.

Ohmigosh, can't believe we're sparring with each other about a make-believe marriage!

Your proud eagle reminds me a little bit of Jorge...rigid an unyielding.

But impressive. In a way that Jorge is not. At the moment.

#belivinginchange

Funny. You see the good in things and I see an opportunity to punish a puppy killer. :-)

And I think, no matter what the cost, Queen Veronica does not deserve Tono.

BTW...Is Kika dumb enough to have thought she could bring the man who she herself vowed to send straight to hell home to meet Sis, Mom and Dad and it would be like The Brady Bunch Christmas? I have to admit it was entertaining to see Pop light into Mauricio. It was like watching a pitbull on a declawed kitty cat. I suspect Mauricio knew better, but went along with it. They haven't really let us know yet, but I am hoping this might be even more of a matrimony breaker than even Anifer herself. I hope Renee watched this episode. There is still hope girl.

I just reread my comments. Veronica deserves a clown like Sebastian even less. I simply let the end overshadow the means for a minute in my bloodthirst toward Tono.

I'll try to do better. IE: try to find a way to extract revenge on him with less collateral damage.

Good Morning, Patio Amigos! Thank you Cynthia for your delightful recap and exceptional screenshots.

Doris, I noticed Renee's dress too. It seems that she is gradually letting go of that "frumpadump" phase since she did have those appliques on it...but she's making progress. I think the more she sees the sensitive, fatherly side of Mau, the more in love she is becoming.Too bad for Kika since she definitely doesn't want that side of Mau to blossom.

Baldo is definitely waaay out of his league. I just can;t understand why Neron is threatened by him. I do understand him being upset about Baldo peaking through the window, but to actually think that Flor would even give Baldo a second thought is ridiculous.

Kirby, " if Vero were not sneaking, why didn't she pop up and say Hi to her neighbor when he came over to talk to Seb?" Was veronica close by when Seb and Mau talked? I thought she arrived after Seb talked to Mau...if not, then your theory may be correct, but I'm with JudyB, "hoping my assessment of Veronica's character is right and she would not stoop to adultery."

Kirby, "Is Kika dumb enough to have thought she could bring the man who she herself vowed to send straight to hell home to meet Sis, Mom and Dad and it would be like The Brady Bunch Christmas?" Yup, she is...KikaBotoxicBrain! The sister seems kinda wacko too.

The actress playing Kika's mother is Marianne Suarez. According to what I found, she was in "Simplemente Maria."

Ole Kiker was pretty dam arrogant gleefully threatening Anifer with boarding school in like the Congo, Serbia or the Gaza Strip before she waltzed into that buzz saw of 'Meet the Parents'.

Well, Kirby, I agree that Toño has a lot to atone for. But he and Vernonica (as portrayed) do love each other. And the kids (as portrayed) love them. In no way would busting up this marriage and this family be helpful. But I think you've already reached that conclusion, like I did, and you are probably thinking of some other punishment (fiendish, I'm sure!) for our Slow Learner Toño.

All actions, and all decisions have consequences. And at some point the fate of little Carola is going to come to light. That will not be pretty.

FWIW, It did not look to me like Veronica saw Mau at the airport. She might be tempted to stray, but hopefully she will see how shallow Sebastian is and Just Say No.

Rgv Chick - thanks for the actress's name! I did not see Simplemente Maria, so don't know why she looks familiar. Might be the faint resemblance to Sonya Smith.

Oh yes, Kika is dumb enough to bring Mau home. Her silicone implants might be leaking and affecting her brain.

Nina had mentioned that Simplemente Maria reruns are on in the afternoon, it being interesting to us here on this patio, because a slightly younger Jose Ron (RaMoooon) was in it. I had left the TV on a few times and glanced at it, but I can't remember which one of the criers Mrs Braun is. I saw Jose Ron and I recognized little Miss fluorescent orange eye shadow (Alexa from Hasta el Fin del Mundo) Claudia Alvarez.

" will see how shallow Sebastian is " Hmmm, do TN girls ever dump a solid cerebral guy for a fun party animal? Nah, never. :-)

I just wish it was me instead of Sebastian if it happens. Just plain old Dog Jealousy.

Good afternoon, everybody! Cynthia, thank you for another great recap and for the comments. I try to listen closely but a lot just goes by me. Thank you for pointing out that Renee said something like "Why did I invoke her?" when she opened the door for Kika. I did not hear this until I went back and listened a second time, and I would not have understood it anyway, but it's so funny now that I know. Thanks again.

So many fun things to pick apart in this TN. I had not noticed Veronica's hemline changing, but I did notice Renee's undoing another button or two. If she keeps going, it's definitely love and Kika is toast. Better keep the hook in Fabian, Kika.

Do we have any bookies or touts here? What are the odds that Sammy becomes ambidextrous in the next few episodes?

A few people have commented on Jorge's saying to Mau that he had only ever loved one woman. That was both touching and sad because we know that woman was not the one he married. I keep expecting to see redemption for Jorge, and I keep being disappointed. There is the occasional flash, but no real change. I think poor Jorge is going to have to be raked over the coals repeatedly AND suffer torture by a thousand cuts before he will come around. Too bad.

Wait! I didn't just make a prediction, did I?
:-)

Andy, yes you did, so Jorge is safe. :-)

No Diana and no Susanlynn. I think they must be without power. And it's brrrrrr cold! Sending warm thoughts and wish I could do more.

Hi there .thanks for looking for me Judy. We lost our cable but thankfully did not lose our electricity because it is cold and windy. However, we were out all day..a concert and dinner with a friend.

I noticed Vero's flouncy skirt ..not very businesslike . And party boy Sebastian must have been there at the airport with her for a reason, but Vero does not seem !ike someone who would cheat . She seems to love her quirky mate and value her family. I can't believe she bought that car without a conversation. My friend's husband bought a corvette without telling her...ex husband now.

Cynthia, thank you so much for the recap and screencaps.

Good morning everyone.

Judy, in scrolling through saw your comment. You are always so kind and thoughtful.

Lost power late afternoon Friday and it has just been restored - state of emergency, power lines and trees down, looks like Fanghorn Forest run amok. Fortunately, injury and loss of life seem to be at a minimum.

Need to try and clean up yard and put all fridge contents in the trash.

Will try and read this in the next day or so. Thank you Cynthia in advance.

Hope all of you are warm and safe.

Diana

Oh Diana, so sorry. As we know here in the FunShine state, losing power for even a short time is a major nuisance.

I'm glad you are beginning to put things back together. Although emptying the fridge is a pain, I have looked at that exercise in the past as Nature forcing me to do in one fell swoop what I should have done at my leisure but didn't.

Empty it out, clean it, let it dry, vinegar and water and then baking soda, and Viola, it is like a new refrigerator. And for a while, you don't have to check the expiry date on half the stuff in there.

That little BRAT storm came out of nowhere.

Glad you and Hubby are OK.

Susy, it sounds like you were spared the worst of it. Glad all is well. You and the squirrels still playing Walnut Volleyball?

kj

Diana, sorry that you lost your frig contents.

Kirby, you are a Renaissance man....a wealth of info and encouragement for dealing with disasters..both small and large. When we make those huge pots of spaghetti sauce to freeze, I always dread the thought of losing all that work and food if we lose electricity or our ancient freezer dies.

We did not lose our power, and luckily, our daughter's was only out for an hour. She lives four miles away. However, some local areas must have lost power for awhile this weekend. We got a message last night that the highschool gym would be opened for people without power to take showers and recharge their devices or warm up a bit.

Kirby...re:the d*#% walnuts....even the squirrels don't seem to want them and have been no help at all. I would like to have those four or five trees cut down, but it is very expensive .

Thanks. I just live in a deceptively inviting looking area. Sunshine, white sandy beaches, bikinis, fast ass powerboats, and HURRICANE Season for months every fricking year. Nature, work with it or against it. And if you have a camera handy, photograph it along the way. :-)

Those walnuts are like made of granite, maybe even the squirrels can't open them. If you have a big hammer and an anvil, maybe you could crack them for them, and give them back. Watch your fingers, and wear goggles. Ha.

BTW. walnut wood itself is fairly valuable, I am surprised someone would not buy your trees if you wanted them gone.

Diana, so glad your power is back on. That was a long time to be without it. So sorry to hear about the refrigerator losses. Take good care as you get back to normal.

OK, so given everything Fagian knows about Kika, how is he 'In Luuuuurve' with her? Did she deflower him that one night? Is that it?

Actually it is probably a good thing, as Renee is meant for Mauricio and Mauricio for her, so the consolation prizes get each other. Papi might even like Fabian.

Lil was urging Pablo to get back into school, as they could be in class together. Hmmm I wonder if he is younger than I thought. Translation: young enough to be with Ms, Jail Bait. Must be.

Good Morning!

Diana, so sorry about your power outage and the loss of so much food, but I'm glad you and hubby are okay. BTW, how is your hubby progressing?

Kirby, yes, I was surprised Lili was suggesting they could be in the same class. Pablo looks older so he had us fooled!

I don't think Fabian is in love...only in lust :-)

Kirby....yes , the squirrels can use their incredibly sharp teeth to open the walnuts . We find the shells on our deck and other places. Sometimes they hide them. Hey, guys, there are hundreds ... you do not have to hide them. I wonder if any local furniture makers know how to use a chain saw.

I noticed that Kika's parents and sister do not seem to me to have her odd accent. I wonder if it is all affectation . It sounds like Betty Bop baby talk to me.

The talk about boarding school made me think of Disgraceful in Vino.

Diana - You were in the nor'easter? I'm glad your power is back on. Yikes. Take care!

Well, another noreaster is predicted for Tuesday night into Wednesday. Geez...I need spring ! Do not forget to turn your clocks forward next weekend....spring forward!!!! Spring begins officially in march 20 !!!!

Liftoff...Houston, we have liftoff.

Hey, Kirby, I hope he/she had a good landing and that the parents are happy and proud. Can they look forward to soon having their home to themselves again or does that take quite a while yet?

Chickie...just saw this on my tablet..."Silicon Valley's status symbols...chickens"....who knew ?

Wow. What a shot Kirby. Yep the offpring are growing up and looking downright intimidating. I'd give 'em my lunch money for sure.

Oh he only got abut six inches off the ground...er nest. It will be just weeks now. They should start flying by the end of the month. They will hang around for a while, but be out of the nest.

Susanlynn, thanks for the time/clock reminder. I love this time change and the long light evenings.

Jarifa...that was my PSA for the patio. My friend reminded me,so I thought that I would pass it a!ong !

Here is my PSA: I wonder how many people would choose to be homeless if there was not an endless free supply of shopping carts. Just drove through a part of town I usually avoid. A state where you seldom even need a jacket is a mixed blessing.

Thank you everyone for all your great comments! Sorry I was not around much during the weekend, but I did get to read through but not enough time to comment back.

Kika is just so over the line with Anifer. She makes it so obvious she wants to be rid of her by talking boarding schools out of the country.

I think I am the only one here (or in the distinct minority) who actually likes Jorge. I think that Jorge made a mistake in the past by sleeping with Yuri, but then he didn’t know she got pregnant and she disappeared from his life only to surface later, right? He doesn’t strike me as the kind of man who would be carrying on an affair with Yuri as his mistress—I think he had merely been helping her financially since those were his kids. This is not a mistake you can go back and correct, especially since he had already gotten married to Dulce and had kids with her. I get irritated that he is shown in a poor light because he is religious. I think Jorge is the kind of man who really strives to do the right thing. He isn’t perfect by any means, he needs to let up on the clutch, but I think he is a good man. He is a man who thanks God. I do agree Doris, that he finds comfort in the law. He is strictly “by the book.” I also thought it was really sweet when he said he only loved one woman in his life. I assume he is meaning Yuri.

I don’t understand Baldo. Didn’t his mother teach him that peeping through someone else’s windows make you a pervert, or peeping Tom? Yeah, Nerón had it right. Baldo does have the “hots” for Flor. However, Nerón has nothing to worry about. I don’t think Flor is interested in teenagers.

I think Pablo and Lili are a good match. But this probably will be the unwed couple who have an unplanned pregnancy. It’s just so obvious.

Veronica doesn’t seem like a cheater—I really don’t think that is on her mind at all. Maybe the other guy, Sebastian, but at least not at this point for Veronica. I know she gets exasperated with Toño, but certainly not enough to start cheating on him. But, I may be wrong.

For those of you up in the cold part of the country, hope it gets better and you all start to thaw out. I have no idea what it’s like to be in weather that cold. I’ve been a Southwest girl all my life.

You make good points about Jorge Cynthia. And I think part of his rigidity is also fear. Fear that the kids will not turn out well. Being a parent is tough. Being a single parent is extremely tough. And it's hard to find a balance between easy going and over strict. As awkward and counter productive as many of his actions are, it's clear that he loves his children and wants the best for them.

Sure, at heart Jorge is a good guy, but he's a total screw-up. He married the wrong woman and made her miserable for years, made one set of his kids miserable, the other set he deceived for years and is now making miserable. About Yuriria, I don't know what to say.

Good guy, but as my mom always used to say, "The road to hell is paved with good intentions."

OT: does Guillermo del Toro do TNs?

:-)

Maybe Veronica is not a cheater, and it's not something I recommend. It is just that of all the men in this show, Topo deserves to be cheated on most of all.

Cynthia, as a Southerner, I made a decision to move to the almost frozen midwest, St. Louis. Though not as frozen as Pa, NY or Ohio, there is enough bad weather to be miserable, in that there is not enough ice and snow to justify the investment in the infrastructure to really deal with it. So every ice or snow storm is like Ground Hog Day, as you start all over. After a few years I made another decision to NOT live in that, and moved to Florida.

Re: Baldo the Peeping Tom. I assumed that was just a cultural difference that we Gringos do not quite get. These TNs show us that the Spanish are not as uptight and straight laced as many Americans, maybe voyeurism is OK there.

Andy, I think that Jorge stayed with Dulce out of obligation. Perhaps he really didn't love her and Dulce knew that. She was also looking for more excitement in her life, otherwise she wouldn't have left. The worst thing about Dulce is that she pretty much abandoned her children. I don't think Jorge is a total screw up. I understand why he was deceitful about his past, but then again, maybe Dulce didn't want it brought up. As far as Baldo and Lili go, they should be grateful that they do have a father who is taking them in and supporting them, as opposed to other men who abandon their children. Again, he is really trying to do the right thing.

"unplanned pregnancy. It’s just so obvious." I knew they were going to be together as soon as she sat in that swing. I can't figure the romantic connection between a children's swing and making babies, but it is undeniably there.

Every time a girl sits in a swing she is all goo goo over some boy or vice versa.

Jorge does have the best intentions. So did the church burning people at the stake. :-)

Kirby: My daughter lived in St. Louis for a few years while she was attending Wash U St. Louis Medical school. She hated the icy roads and the bitter cold. My other son lives in Columbus, Ohio and it's very, very, cold lately. I am grateful to be in Southern California.

I would not think that being a peeping Tom is ok in Mexico. I highly doubt it. I come from a Mexican family, grandparents were from Mexico and I don't think that voyeurism would ever be alright.

Cynthia, "The worst thing about Dulce is that she pretty much abandoned her children."

Yeah, you're absolutely right about that; mother or father, it's a terrible thing.

Andy: "Meet the Parents" shtick was awesome.

Cynthia: Fabian is still upping the ante against Dumb Mauricio by taking more $$$.

Gotta be somebody 'upping the Ante' or it wouldn't be a TN? No clue what you are talking about. $?$?$?

I want to see Mauricio smack Kika on her big curvy ass and say, "Well, if you put it like that, You're outta here Kika, right Anifer? Give me a high five Minchkin!"

"Now Hop in our Rabbit and let's go pick up Renee and go get ice cream ."

Kirby, if there was a "like" button, I would be hitting it for what you just said. :)

Kirby...wow...that was pretty insightful about the swing. My dad put swings, tires, and trapezes in the trees on the farm. I'd swing and sing sad songs. There is just something about a swing.

You're funny. Thanks. Well, that's what I would do.

I always had a nice car, but my pretend kids next door preferred the old 4 wheel drive so much more that I carpeted the bed back there. Then in the garage with the door up, or sitting on the driveway that was instant playhouse.

Susy it is true. Wiggling around in a swing is just as good as twirling a lock of hair.

" just as good as twirling"

just as effective as twirling a lock...

Hey. HEY..Can you bring me a Handi Wipe?

:-)
