Papá a Toda Madre, Episode 44, 3/19/2018: A Fairy Tale For Ani, a Dream Come True for Renée, and a Nightmare for Vero

At Jorge’s house, Lilí pulls Pablo away from their lesson? Meanwhile, at Logatoys, Jorge is in his office trying to organize himself, but stops to check on the kids using the camera app on his phone. Pablo wonders if someone might see them, but Lilí urges him on. After Lilí responds that no one is there, she kisses as Jorge watches them on the phone and freaks out. (Viewerville freaks out that the camera walks around to get the perfect angle for whatever Peeping Dad wants to see.)

Outside, Fabián yells at Falcón that he will not leave him talking, but Falcón drives off which leaves Fabián cursing him under his breath. As he turns back into the building, Fabián apologizes to Renée for the scene she just witnessed. After he asks her how he can help her, Renée responds that she is not sure that what she is about to do is a good idea, but since this is the only way she knows how to do things, she came to talk to him and she wants to be straightforward. Fabián wonders if it has to do with Mau or his daughter, but Renée clarifies that it is about the house her mother left her which is actually under his father’s name. Fabian is taken aback and didn’t know anything about it. Fabián comments that his father was an associate of the company and he may have owned some of the properties, but there could have been a mix-up in the documents. He really doesn’t know and has no idea. Renée responds that she just wanted to let him know since she is going to try to straighten things out because she has plans for the house. When she tells him that she is sure that the house was really her mother’s and that she paid for it, Fabián agrees and tells Renée that he will look into it too. Renée plans to continue looking though all the papers; there has to be a receipt or proof of payment. After Fabián tells her to keep him informed, he rushes off because he has a meeting with a supplier. As she watches Fabián drive off, Mau comes out of the building and wonders what she is doing there…not that he doesn’t want to see her…quite the contrary, he is very happy to see her. Renée responds that she is there to take care of some business. After she adds that Anifer is with Rafa so he shouldn’t worry, Mau is envious because, with him, things are as tense as the chords on a piano. Renée then asks if Mau has Anifer’s surprise ready and hopes that will help smooth things over with Anifer; so he tells her that he has had it ready since early in the day…though he isn’t sure if it’ll be a kamikaze suicide or if something good will come from it.
Veronica and Toño are out with the kids and having hamburgers. Veronica thinks it was a good idea to go celebrate regardless of whether or not Tania’s dance was a success. Toño agrees, but wants to take advantage of the fact that the kids are not close by so he can ask her about her promotion. He is hoping that she didn’t accept the new job, but Veronica tells him that she hasn’t accepted or declined; she told them she would think about it. When he mentions that the family will be “out the window” and asks her to explain exactly what the situation is, Veronica explains that what they are offering her is that she take her whole family with her. If that weren’t the case, she wouldn’t even consider it…she’ll just tell them “no.” When Toño thinks about the whole family moving together, Veronica adds that she would have to go first while all the family permits are processed…they would be separated for about 2-3 months. Veronica thinks that it would be a good thing, (As she is as sick of Toño as we are?) but Toño worries that it would be a huge change for everyone…another country, another language, and other food. (No Yolanda ???) When he frets that they would be separated for 2-3 months, Veronica looks disquieted as they slurp their drinks.

Outside at the cul-de-sac, Rafa asks Anifer if she wants something else to eat, but she refuses because she already ate a lot of cookies. Rodrigo laughs and tells her he is going to take her to the gym with him (Can I go too?). He then tells her that their home will be her home too; they love being with her so she can go whenever she feels like it. Rafa shares their secret that they want to have a son or a daughter…and when that happens, he hopes he will be as brave as she is. When Rafa tells her that they hope to have a child soon, Anifer asks who the mother will be; so Rodrigo interjects that they are looking at options. He is about to continue when Anifer states that she misses her mother very much…and she will never see her again.

Rafa tries to console her and tells her she is not alone; she has her father who loves her and though she is sad now, with time she will learn to be happy…with her father. Rodrigo adds that just like she was happy with her mommy when her father was not there, now it will be the opposite. Anifer thinks that it won’t be the same because her mother always told her the truth…but Mauricio only tells her lies. Just then Renée arrives and tells Anifer that her father has the surprise ready…and she is going to love it…
At the hospital, Nerón meets with a doctor, but he is starting to regret meeting with him. When the doctor tells him he has received the results of the tests and will have to send him for more, Nerón complains about having more blood drawn and compares the doctors to vampires. The doctor reminds him that they need to check his prostrate because of his age. Nerón is fed up with “his age” being an excuse…all they do is insist on rubbing it in his face. Nerón gets up to leave, but the doctor tells him that he still needs to do the rectal exam. Nerón refuses and tells the doctor he doesn’t want to get into that; so the doctor tells him that he is acting childish and tells him to lower his pants and get on the exam table. (Nerón, you are not the first man who wonders why they are called 'Proctologist' rather than 'Beelzebub')

Nerón again refuses, but when the doctor sternly tells him to stop clowning around, Nerón complies.
Renée and Anifer enter Mau’s house to see a small stage set up. Anifer asks what is going on, so Renée tells her to sit down. The top curtains open to reveal Mauricio who is going to tell Anifer a story of some royalty and their son, but Anifer wants to leave. When Anifer tells Mau that she doesn’t want to hear the story, he tells her that he will then tell her a story about a young prince and his parents. Anifer thinks it’s the same thing, but Mau explains that though they sound the same, the story can be different depending on who is telling it…the son or the father. Mau sees that he has Anifer’s interest, so he starts his story about a little boy who loved to play. As he continues, Mau drops down and a puppet appears and says, “Papa! Mama! I want to play with you!”

Anifer looks at Renée and smiles. Mau reappears and continues that, at first, the mother and father would play with the son often and would fulfill all his wishes. They would give him palaces, horses, unicorns..with three heads…golden cell phomes with rubies..but one day…
The father puppet comes out and tells the son that one day this kingdom will be his; and when he grows up, he will be the king of all the world. The boy puppet comes out and tells the father that the doesn’t want to grow up..he wants to play forever! When father replies, “You will grow up and stop being a kid,” the son repeats, “But I want to play forever!”

Mau appears and states that then the queen’s voice was heard. The mother puppet appears and says, “I will always play with you, my little prince, because you will always be my child!” The father puppet tells the mother, “You cannot lie like that to your son,” but he mother states, “But it is not a lie.” The puppets disappear and Mau returns and asks Anifer is she thought the queen was lying to the little prince. Anifer replies, “Yes, because she wasn’t going to live forever;” so Mau continues that the years passed and one day, the queen left. Everyone in the kingdom whispered that the queen had left with the fairies or to the bottom of the ocean with the mermaids. The prince appears and tells the father, “I’m going to go look for my mother in the kingdom of the fairies and the mermaids,” but he father tells him, “No! No! Wait!” The prince and father argue until the father says, “Your mother is not going to return; she went far away where you will not find her.” Mau appears and continues that the little prince left and confronted all the monsters and witches to try to find the queen because he was sure that he was going to find her. After puppets come out fighting, Mau resumes the story that after many adventures, the little prince grew up and did not find the queen…not with the fairies, the monsters, the mermaids, the dragons… not even with the delegations. Mau then says that the prince returned to the king, but the king was very old by then…like a raisin who could barely talk. The prince apologized to the king and told him he was right; the mother had lied to him because he never found her. Mau then continues that the king was on his last breath when he smiled at the prince and told him, “No, son, you need to forgive me. Your mother always spoke the truth, but you didn’t look well enough because you mother…your mother…went to live in your heart!” Mau appears and tells Anifer that is how the prince found his mother…in his heart, but he became very sad because all this time that he spent looking for her…he forgot to play with his father. The father puppet tells the prince, “It is now I who will go live in your heart, but I want to tell you something, my son. Whatever happens, never stop playing.” The prince responds, “But father, if you leave now, who will I play with?” The father replies, “You own sons will come with whom you will surely learn new games, but you will also mess up. Maybe you wil hurt them, but always let them know that it is not intentional…and if you mislead them, it’s not because you want to see them suffer. You never want to see them suffer.” Mau then adds that is when a little girl arrived who liked to climb trees like a monkey, eat green things, and design toys…and they played forever and always. Anifer remarks that she is not a monkey, but Mau insists that she is his climbing monkey as he goes to her and carries her (Aww, get the tissue!)

As he looks at her lovingly, he cries, “I’m so sorry, my little girl. You don’t know how sorry I am. To keep from hurting you, I made a mistake. Will you forgive me?” Anifer hugs him and says, “I love you very much, Daddy!”

(Eight Woofers in the RGV are crying too.) As they hug, Renée leaves them alone; and the prince puppet magically pops up to look at them…then disappears.
In bed, Toño and Veronica discuss the offer for a higher position. Veronica wonders if Toño is going to be so distant and emphasizes that she has not yet made a decision. When Toño points out that she didn’t even let him know…just like with her car, Veronica sighs and tells Toño that she had a long flight and is very tired…there is no use talking about this now. After she says good night and turns off the light, Toño turns to her and cuddles because he wants to make her good night a great night. Veronica wonders if he is looking for a fight; so Toño is willing to go three rounds, but if she just wants only one he can oblige. Veronica thinks he is shameless and reminds him that they are upset with each other…and now he gets close to her. When she tells him to move over, Toño chides her for leaving him alone…on his side of the bed. Toño continues that the only thing she cares about is her job; next in line are the children and then him. Veronica gets upset tells him that he should know that the most important thing in ther life are the kids…and then her job…and then him! After hearing Toño’s disappointment, Veronica tells him she didn’t mean to say that. She tries to apologize, but sees that he is as cold as an iceberg; so she asks him if he wants to talk. Toño turns away from her and covers himself up. (Um, Vero, you are Cut Off.....may as well just go to sleep.)
At Mau’s house. Anifer doesn’t want to go to sleep yet because she wants to ask Mau something very important. Mau tells her to go ahead, but this is not a time for interrogations; so Anifer asks him, “How did my mother die?” Mau responds, “That is not a subject we should discuss when we are about to go to sleep.” Anifer insists on knowing what happened to her mother…was she sick; did a snake bite her…because sometimes that’s the way people in San Crispín die. Mau reminds her that he wants to do things better as a father, be she must believe him when he says that everything he does…everything is to protect her, to take care of her; and this is one of those times. He continues that neither he nor she are ready to discuss that…not yet. Mau wants to let more time pass…not because he wants to hide things from her; it’s only because it’s not the right moment yet. When he asks Anifer if she believes him, Anifer responds, “Yes, I believe you, papa.” Mau then tucks her in and kisses her good night as Renée watches from the door. Afterwards, Renée walks behind the puppet stage and rests her head on the stage wall as Mau comes out and sees her. She claps and tells him that what he did for his daughter was incredible. She congratulates him…truly, from her heart. Mau walks toward her and thanks her for everything, but Renée thinks he has nothing to thank her for. When he tells her that she should know that she doesn’t have to leave, Renée responds that she does have to leave; the fact that Anifer forgave him changes nothing between them. As she starts to leave, Mau tells her that he accepts it…it is only right; so Renée stops and turns to Mau. He shares that he and Toño launched a “crowdfunding” so that they can start producing the “Papa and Mama” that Anifer designed. They’ve already started receiving some funds though they are coming in slowly. Renée is happy for Mau and asks if he found out anything about the machines that were damaged and if they were closely investigated…and were they able to prove that there was sabotage. When Mau asks if they really want to be talking about that, Renée nods and says good night.
The Next Day—
At Jorge’s house, Jorge hurries the kids so they won’t be late for school. All the kids rush out except Lilí; so Jorge shouts out to her. When she comes down, Jorge stops her for a moment and tells her that he knows she lied to him. She didn’t have a sex education class, at least not in this semester. Lilí argues that whoever told him that misled him. Jorge doubts it because the person who told him was the director; so the person misleading him is her. When he asks her if she is seeing the young guy from the cul-de-sac, Lilí admits she is seeing Pablo and challenges him. Jorge will not allow any daughter of his to go around with an undocumented person without a career or benefits. Lilí accuses him of being a racist, but Jorge doesn’t understand where she gets that idea…she is just trying to change the subject. After Jorge threatens that she either leave that young man or he will have him deported to Guatemala, he tells her that they need to get to school. Lilí walks out as if his threat didn’t phase her.
At a restaurant, Toño attends a parent meeting and is greeted with a hug from Yola.

As the ladies welcome Toño after he sits down, Yola goes to sit down and gives Toño a warm look…which seems to be returned by Toño.
At Logatoys, Mau is in his office telling Fabián that they just need a little bit more money to have what they need in record time. Fabián wonders if Mau is going to keep the money he is raising; so Mau repsonds that he will keep it until the deadline ends. Mau cheers and thanks Mexico and the web. When Fabián admits that he also put in some money…not from the company, but from his own savings, Mau thanks him and wonders how he could have doubted him. When Fabián questions that Mau doubted him, Mau tells him that it was just a matter of hours…or minutes…seconds. Mau wants to forget the past and welcome the future; so Fabián agrees and thinks they need to look into how to start production. Mau then wants to make sure there won’t be another accident; they need to be vigilante so the machines will function…because he has no doubt that someone wants to stop them.
At the restaurant, Yola and Toño leave together and talk about the ladies who like to gossip. Yola then tells Toño that the ladies have a better time when he is there…even she is happy when she sees him. When Toño wonders if she is still upset because of the meetings he missed or because he didn’t return her calls, Yola tells him that he must have had his reasons; and though it hurts her, she respects those reasons. Toño explains that he got stuck at home because of the typical fights between couples. Yola then shares that there were so many times when she argued wth her husband that it just seemed her natural state; even after they divorced, she felt horrible that she couldn’t argue with him. When Toño wonders how her husband could be angry with her, Yola gets dreamy-eyed and closes in as she asks Toño if he wouldn’t be interested in knowing her under different conditions. Toño takes a while before he gets it… (Tono, under different conditions, like under COVERS, you know sheets and blankets, ya sexy thang!)

At Logatoys, Mau and his sidekicks are meeting with the council. Falcón congratulates Mau for the results of his web page and sarcastically adds that it was such a good idea to put the future of the company in the hands of strangers. Mau wants Falcón to admit that it was an ingenious play. Falcón would admit it if his initiative would do them any good, but one of the council members told him the contrary. While Mr. Palacios gets up and hands out folders, Mau wants them to do whatever they want, but the “Papa/Mama” toys will be ready for market by Christmastime. Mr. Palacios states that he is not going to argue that point; the toy is revolutioary and is well accepted on the web. When he adds that the toy is already out in the market, Mau’s eyes open wide as he sees the report and Falcón adds that it is not a Logatoys brand. Falcón thinks it’s a shame that someone beat him to it. Mau is shocked…

Outside the restaurant. Toño tells Yola that he thinks it’s best that they no longer talk to each other. When he apologizes, Yola apologizes too and addds that she was allowing herself to be swayed. Toño comments that there was no physical contact so nothing really happened, but Yola moves closer and asks what if there was…as she smacks a kiss on him. Before she leaves, she smirks and says that now something did happen, but he shouldn’t worry because this is the last time they will see each other. After she leaves, Toño looks around to see who was watching.

At Logatoys, Mau wants to know how this happened and who copied them. He accuses them that they are the ones that are in competition with Logatoys. When he asks what is going on, Falcón tells him to listen to himself; it is ridiculous to think that they would want to copy themselves. Mau insists that aside from this incident, someone damaged the machines on purpose…and it was an insider; and no one should know it better than Falcón! Falcón is aghast that Mau would accuse him of the faulty machines. He gets up angrily and tells Mau that he’d better take back what he said or he will sue him for defamation. Mau shouts back that he can do whatever he wants, so Falcón retorts that he will certainly do it as he storms out. After Falcón and his cronies leave, Mau gets up and asks Jorge and Fabián, “Do I or Do I not have reason…isn’t it that this lout wants to see us ruined? Of course, he does! I’m sure he is responsible for all of this!” Fabián thinks that whether or not Mau likes Falcón, Falcón is their associate, but Mau adds that he may be an associate, but he knows nothing about him. When Mau asks Fabián where he found out about thief and what he knows about Falcón that he hasn’t told them, Fabián is speechless.
At Rafa’s house, Renée is dressed up and Rafa thinks she looks incredible…all she needs is a big smile. When he adds that he understands she is probably very nervous, Renée asks, “It’s my professional exam; how do you expect me to be?” Rafa encourages her and thinks she needs to relax and enjoy herself. It’s not every day that someone gets the title of mechatronics engineer. Renée thanks him and comments that though they haven’t known each other for long, he has been with her in good times as well as bad times. Rafa would like to accompany her, but he has to go operate on a cat. It would be nice that someone be with her on such a special day…maybe Anifer…or Mauricio. Renée shakes her head and comments that she only deals with Mau when it’s about work. Rafa laughs and thinks that even Renée doesn’t really believe that, but if she doesn’t want the love of her life to go with her then that’s up to her….or there could be her father. When he adds that she should continue looking for him, Renée wonders how she could do that since the only thing she has is the number on his file and they told her he didn’t live there. Rafa then asks how she can give up without investigating further. When he adds that her father might be the flirty type and it could have been his wife that answered thinking that it was one of his “friends,” Rafa points out that she really doesn’t know if he lives there or not. Renée thinks that could have been the case, but she will have to think about it later because she has to go or she will be late for her exam.
At school, Tania and Anifer play with their Barbies and talk about how they enjoy them. When Anifer mentions that she wants to be a designer and asks Tania what she wants to be, Tania confides that at first she wanted to be a veterinarian, then she wanted to be a ballerina, but now she thinks she wants to be a soccer player. (Good call T)  Anifer thinks it’s great, but Tania thinks that her dad won’t like it. Anifer responds that it doesn’t matter; Tania can be whatever she wants to be!
At the college, Adriana introduces Renée who is about to defend her thesis. Renée goes to the front and starts to explain about her robot that is designed to help children with special needs. She continues to explain about her “KR15” robot, its capabilities, and how it will benefit those for whom it is designed .
At Logatoys, Mau repeats that they know nothing about Falcón or his megacompanies…or if he has worked elsewhere. They don’t even know if he has family…he is a mystery of life, as if he were Spiderman! When Fabián assures Mau that Falcón has nothing to hide, Jorge asks if Fabián would be willing to share all the information he has; so Fabián assures him that he clearly would. Fabián reminds Mau that Falcón is a renowned businessman; and as for the faulty machines, Fabián wonders what Falcón would gain from that. Mau replies that is exactly what he wants to find out; so they will do exactly what Falcón has been doing with him—not lose sight of him, follow him and spy on him. Fabián can’t believe that Mau is serious and doesn’t think it is a good idea. Mau insists that they will follow him as if he owed them money; they need to know who the hell is Falcón!  (With Daddyhood comes an upgrade to Brain 2.5, Mau)
Outside Logatoys, Falcón drives off as Mau and Fabián rush down the stairs and follow him in Fabián’s bright yellow car (that certainly wouldn’t be spotted….uh-huh!).
At the college, Renée continues her presentation about the benefits of the KR15 robot which include saving time and energy and it will also put Mexico in the forefront of technology.
At the school, Lilí tells Pablo that she doesn’t know how Jorge found out. Pablo thinks it could have been one of her siblings, but Lilí doesn’t think so; furthermore, Jorge threatened them with having him deported. She has been thinking that she can tell Jorge that they are no longer going around, but they can continue seeing each other, though they will have to be more careful. Pablo isn’t sure; he doesn’t want to make trouble for her and he doesn’t want to get deported. (You have options Pablo, deported, or caught shagging a minor, which will it be?)
At the college, Adriana announces that Renée has passed the professional exam for mechatronics engineer. After everyone claps, Adriana continues that because of her academic excellence, the judge has granted her the status of “Honorable Mention.” As everyone claps again, Adriana congratulates Engineer Sanchez and Renée looks over to the screensaver on her laptop that has a picture of her with her mother.

On the road, Fabián and Mau think they have lost Falcón as they come to a stop. Just then, Mau gasps and cringes back as he tells Fabián that Falcón is right next to them, so Fabián shifts gears and goes backward. After Mau tells him not to lose Falcón, Fabián drives forward, but then Mau gasps again and Fabián quickly stops because an older woman is crossing the street; so Mau gets out of the car and helps her cross safely. (After helping the little old lady, Curly hops back in Moe's Middelton Mustang, but Larry has escaped by then.) Once finished and back in the car, Mau still tells Fabian to “hit it,” but they get a red light.
Sitting at the gazebo in front of their house, Renée tells Anifer that she was so excited that she passed her certification and got an honorable mention…she almost fainted from all the emotion. She felt a mixture of emotions…gratitude, happiness, pride…it was a beautiful day; the only thing missing was her mother. Anifer tells Renée that she misses her mother very much; so Renée tells her that when they miss their mothers and they can’t be with them, the best thing to do is think of all the good things that happened when they were with them. As she continues that it is difficult, Rafa and Flor walk up with Milady and sit with them. When Flor asks how her exam went, Renée shares that she already has her certification…she is now an engineer. Flor reproaches Renée for not telling them that she was going for the exam…they would have gone to give support. As a punishment, Flor is going to take Renée to celebrate that she is a professional engineer. Just then, Veronica arrives; so Rafa tells her that Flor is organizing a celebration for Renée since she just got her diploma for mechatronic engineer. Veronica agrees that they should celebrate but Veronica can’t do it right now because she has things to do; she can, however take Renée to celebrate later. Renée starts to refuse to go with Flor because she has to take care of Anifer, but Anifer volunteers to stay with Rafa. Rafa is more than happy to stay with Anifer and Milady; so Flor challenges Renée to go with her.
Veronica enters her home and calls out for Toño who is surprised to see her there so early. Veronica tells Toño that she asked for the afternoon off because she doesn’t feel right…she can’t stop thinking about their discussion from last night. Toño thinks it’s more of what she denied him, but she has every right to because if she doesn’t want to do it, he is no one to tell her that they should make up. Veronica goes to Toño and kisses him passionately, but he complains because his mouth is full of food.
Veronica holds his hand as she tells him tha she loves him; though she may have a thousand things on her mind and she goes around like a crazy woman all day, she wants to show him that she loves him. She tells him that she wants to be honest with him just like he is honest with her. She again tells him that she loves him and kisses him again. As she starts to leave, Toño blurts out that Yola gave him a kiss on the mouth which leaves Veronica in disbelief…  (Proving once again that a box of rocks is FAR smarter by any comparison.)

Rgv Chickie, thank you for this great recap, the screenshots, and the funny comments.

Nerón is being a sissy (sorry, Nerón) about the rectal exam. It's in and out in a couple of seconds, and if they want to do even more tests something is going on.

Yolanda is hot! And I loved her dress. Why did she say it was the last time they would see each other? Naturally Toño had to tell Vero, because he didn't initiate anything whatsoever, he is being completely honest with Vero, and maybe now she will think a little more about a separation of a few months...

It was nice to see Anifer and Mau make up.

Can we handle any more mysteries? It seems there is a new one every week, sometimes every night, and not much has been cleared up as yet.

- Battin-Oh Bando

Thanks for this excellent recap, Rgv Chick! This is the first episode in over a week I've been able to watch completely. (Lots of time spent helping at grand daughter's home.) I appreciate every recapper for allowing me to keep up with the action.

I laughed at Toño and Vero eating the burgers (or whatever.) She was squirting on the condiments like a busy mom helping all the kids, hubby included.

As you said, a bright yellow sports car would never be spotted following another car.

Splendid RgvChick.

Screen shots were amazing.

"Mau is envious because, with him, things are as tense as the chords on a piano", " Veronica thinks that it would be a good thing, (As she is as sick of Toño as we are?)" were wonderful and my favorite was "unicorns..with three heads…golden cell phomes with rubies..". Pure, fun, fantasty.

“you mother…your mother…went to live in your heart!”s…”(Eight Woofers in the RGV are crying too.)” and I too, along with them! It would have been even more touching had I any idea what they were saying as I watched. But lovely "hearing" it from you.

I'm sorry Sebastian Rulli. I was leary, afraid you couldn't handle comedy. My apologies.

So happy to see Ani and Mau have made up too Andy. All is right in their little corner of the universe.

“Veronica gets upset tells him that he should know that the most important thing in ther life are the kids…and then her job…and then him!”. Umm really? The “real” Vero would not think let alone say that.

Yo-Yo should keep her bands and lips to herself. What is the deal with setting your sights on someone you know is married??? Having children makes it worse. And I don't think Tono has really said that he is unhappy. What is it - the thrill of the challenge?? Blech.

LaPaloma, there was a lot of condiment usage last night but virtually no eating.

I am not comfortable with Jorge spying on his kids with the camera. I liked less that he threatened Pablo with deportation. Mau is making definite strides with maturation. Jorge is marching steadily in place with little forward movement.

Was proud of Renee and sorry everything happened on a day when Mau and Ani's reconciliation eclipsed her accomplishment.

I would not trust Fab as far as I could throw him.

Hope all your doggies are much better! Thank you for the excellent recap.

Great title, great screen shots, great commentary...I especially loved your mentioning your sentimental 8 woofers Rgv Chick, and Mauricio's daddy brain being upgraded to 2.5. Is this on a scale of 10? If so, our MauMau still has a long way to go. And the hapless failed tracking of Falcón only proved it.

Also loved your question about Pablo's choices between shagging a minor and getting deported. Time to use those frontal lobes rather than the other organs.

And speaking of....Also loved this line:

(Nerón, you are not the first man who wonders why they are called 'Proctologist' rather than 'Beelzebub')

Those exams are the worst. Wouldn't want to do 'em, wouldn't want to get one. All those years of medical study to spend your days doing that????!!!!! I think I'd rather be a landscaper. (And I hate yard work.)

Thanks Rgv Chick. Always enjoy your recaps and your sense of humor. I haven't seen this yet but saw a line there that must have indicated Jorge said "sin oficio ni benficio". I love that expression.

Snow was predicted her last night but so far, it's only rain. And icy streets. Did someone say Spring was coming?

Thanks, RgvChick. The recap was excellent and very entertaining.

I loved the puppet show but who was moving the puppet when Mauricio was giving Anifer a hug? The same person raining down rose petals in the other episode? Maybe I missed something.

Diana, I also wondered about Rulli doing comedy. His performance has been a welcome surprise.

Finally Mauricio is getting seriously curious about Falcón. Now he needs to do the same with Fabián.

JudyB, if you get snow, may it melt quickly. I was recently scraping ice off my windshield. Today is first day of spring!

Morning Judy and Jarifa.

I readily admit I am much more afraid of ice than snow.

That said, we are due for almost another foot tomorrow. I am so done with all this.

It is supposed to start in the am and snow all day. I've made it in for every storm except one this year, so am planning on working from home. Ack.

Diana

Wow Ms. Chikie, another masterpiece from the RGV. I thoroughly enjoyed this episode, and especially the puppet show, and reconciliation. And of course your snappy recap. Yeah Jarifa, I am surprised at seeing Rulli do anything except Heartthrob parts but he has made a believer out of me. I caught myself wondering if that was his voice doing the puppet voices, as I suspected it could have been as he is constantly making sound effects anyway.

To see Yola and her female friends fawning over a warmed over turd like Tonto makes you think there is a severe Man Shortage around town, but I'd be surprised. Although nothing ELSE makes sense. Yolanda is way past cute. She is smack up in pretty and delectably close to hot. Jeezo, dig out your old tarnished wedding band and rent some kids and go hunt her down. Woof woof........

Jarifa: " but who was moving the puppet when Mauricio was giving Anifer a hug? The same person raining down rose petals in the other episode? Maybe I missed something." I took it to mean the puppets were briefly alive for that moment in time.
Thanks again Chikie, you are a talented gal. kj

Diana, yes Ice is Snow's malevolent double first cousin.

Kirby, if I remember correctly, it was one blue happy looking puppet in the top right quadrant if the scene.

Diana, working from home sure sounds a lot better than having to fight through so much snow. If we could just have spring year round . . . Guess I should move to San Diego.

Jarifa, yes, the puppet moving on its own was so cute. I enjoyed every single moment of the puppet show.

I also loved that Milady took Anifer's finger in their scene together and sweet Ani seemed to enjoy every second of it. Another stunning bonnet worn by Milady.

Kirby, I'm taking our fine feathered friend's stance is in disbelief of the impending snow...

Diana

Thank you, Rgv Chick.

It was amusing to see the teamwork of Vero and Toño making sandwiches. She is putting cheese on all, he is putting pickles...

Renée has a strong willpower. Not forgiving Mau after all that wave of love that she witnessed... I think it was very tempting for her to join in.

I knew Jorge would bring up deporting Pablo. Of course, actually doing it would be fatal for his relationship with Lili.

Good Morning, Patio Pals! Thank you to everyone for your kind and generous reviews. The comments are a true joy to read!

Just like everyone, I enjoyed the puppet show. Diana, “Mau is making definite strides with maturation.” ITA! Mau has come a long way from the pompous, selfish playboy he was at beginning of the TN. Who would have thought that he would come up such a creative way to explain himself to a child? And then he goes and helps the old lady cross the street! I just can’t see the former Mau doing that.

La Paloma, Veronica does have her hands full with ALL the kids…big and small!

Jarifa, my interpretation of the puppet popping up “by itself” was that it was the spirit of a young Mauricio who was happy to see that he finally has a “friend to play with forever” and that he has found his true place in life.

Andy, that was a nice dress Yola was wearing. You must be making progress…noticing the dress ;-)

JudyB, “a line there that must have indicated Jorge said "sin oficio ni benficio".” YESS!! He did say that! I had never heard that expression, but it is a good one.

Kirby, “To see Yola and her female friends fawning over a warmed over turd like Tonto makes you think there is a severe Man Shortage around town” What is it with these women! Could it be that Tonto has some very strong pheromones…that overpower the rest of his BO???

Lucio, “Renée has a strong willpower. Not forgiving Mau after all that wave of love that she witnessed... I think it was very tempting for her to join in.” She did seem like she wanted to join in, didn’t she? Could it be that Renée is keeping her distance because she expects to go to Maryland?

What about that little message Anifer and Tania portrayed—“It doesn’t matter what anyone thinks; you can be whatever you want to be!” Good one for kids and any other person whose dreams seem to be thwarted.

"Jarifa, my interpretation of the puppet popping up “by itself” was that it was the spirit of a young Mauricio who was happy to see that he finally has a “friend to play with forever” and that he has found his true place in life". Oh my, my eyes are filling again.

But, I did have to smile at Mau helping the woman across the street. I'm pretty sure he walked her over to a very high curb which she no doubt had a bit of difficulty navigating. But the thought was there!

Lucio, I don't think Lili is taking Jorge's threat too seriously. As Jorge is still mired in his self-righteousness and pomposity, perhaps she should (?)

Diana

Chickie, thank you so much. I especially appreciate your recap because I missed the show. Hope that your little pups are better.

Ani and Renee have certainly helped Maury mature into a more caring and responsible person.

I found the description of Tono and Vero helping get the food ready very much like real life parents.

Neuron...lucky you are not a woman!

Diana he is saying a prayer for Cynthia. :-(

Happy first day of spring....as I await 4 to 8 inches of snow and high winds. Here we to again. #harshingmymellow

((Cynthia)))....sending you good vibrations for a speedy recovery)))))

Thank you RGV!!!! What a tearjerker of an episode!

I feel like Pablo and Lili art hanging onto each other for emotional support. Pablo leaves his family and is all alone trying to find his father. Lili loses her mother, her brother is acting boorish and she has a cold statue for a father. Both of these kids need affection and they are finding it together--but moving too fast because of it.

For all of Tono's faults he fessed up quickly to Vero about the kiss from Yolo.

Mau's Falcone accusations seem to be hitting a nerve with Fab. I wish Jorge was at the meeting bec didn't he say he couldn't find anything on Falcone?

Mau and Anifer together are the best. Those are the scenes I wait for.

Hey Kirby, I know you think the character of Toño is a total loser, and you find the actual actor's appearance unimpressive. But women are wired to compete for the attention of men. And if there is only one guy in a group of gals, they WILL compete.

If you wish, they're actually competing with each other, as they do with clothes, hairdos and who has more or less cellulite. Most women, when they walk into a roomful of women, will assess in a split second how they stack up against the rest of the females...prettier or not, younger or not, better dressed or not. Primal law of the long ago jungle amigo.

And I assume men do the same. Who's in better shape. Who's holding up better. Who seems to have a better car, bigger house, boat, RV or what. Who has more hair. The chronic assessment is so basic, it's probably unconscious in a lot of us. But it's THERE.

Yola may be reaching for low-hanging fruit, but if that's the only way she can feel like a "winner" she's going to go for it. More about ego than sex. Waaaay more.

Carvivle, I think that you are exactly right about Lily and Pablo seeking emotional support from each other. Having been around a lot of teens as a mother and teacher, I have seen this happen in real life.

Judy, you are so right about the way we are interested in seeing how we measure up to others.

I'm sorry. What did I miss about Cynthia???

I don't see anything posted here.

"Most women, when they walk into a roomful of women, will assess in a split second how they stack up against the rest of the females...prettier or not, younger or not, better dressed or not. Primal law of the long ago jungle amigo". Pearls of wisdom Judy and oh so very true!!!

Diana

I just went back and read your post from last evening Cynthia.

Sending you out much affection and many prayers. I can imagine how frightened you were yet you did everything you should have done. You have my admiration.

You are a brave, intelligent, strong woman. You have friends here who care about you very much.

Please continue to let us know how you are doing. It is when we are most afraid that the light from love is needed the most.

Diana

"For all of Tono's faults he fessed up quickly to Vero about the kiss from Yolo."

Yessir. Now I hopeo that camera of Jorge's walks over next door and lets us see Tonto show Vero all those texts.

I've seen girls call that 'Harmless Flirting'.
Guys call it 'She wants Me ! Woof'

JudyB men do it somewhat, but are not as good at it as women and are not as serious about it. This is why, and it probably goes all the way back to your jungle:

I suspect way back men hunted as groups or teams, and surely today and for generations much male activity was in groups. We are hardwired to work with each other. From our earliest years we play team sports. Little girls, not so much.

Rather than sizing up the room as me against them, men will many times think of who they want on their team and who the other team is.

You are right about women doing that instant reconnaissance of the 'enemy'. I have seen it first hand and had more than a handful of women tell me exactly the same thing as you said above.

Dr. Johnson

Diana , in a world which seems to be getting crazier and scarier, your comments give me hope. Thanks. Is the snow that is heading toward me also beading toward you?

Kirby....hmmm..flirting is never harmless and married is married, YOLA.

Kirby...good observation . Hubba has played sports all his life, and that is where be is competitive. However, he is a good loser as well as a gracious winner and most!y tries for his personal best. He doesn't seem to care about what others have or how they look. Confidence seems to come more easily for men.

Susy, your comment about Bero and Tonto being typical parents expressed my thoughts when I first saw them fixing up the food. One of the things that caught my attention during their conversation was that Vero told Tonto that she hadn’t yet made a decision. I would think that as a marriage partner, the decision should be made by both partners. Though I don’t think highly of Tonto, I do think he has every reason to be upset that Vero is making decisions without consulting with him.

Carvivlie, your insight about Pablo and Lili is remarkable. I hadn’t given much thought to it, but you probably hit that nail right on the head.

Comments about flirting are quite interesting. Is there really such a thing as “Harmless flirting” ? i suppose there could be if both parties have a good understanding that it is just that...harmless.

Cynthia, my thoughts and prayers are with you. I’ve had a few friends who have suffered from Bell’s Palsy and I know it is very trying and scary. You were brave and smart in reacting so quickly. I hope your recovery is just as quick.

Fun discussion on male and female behavior. I hadn't thought of your perspective Kirby but I like it. Which guys would I want on my team?

And yes, Susanlynn...part of this is about the natural male confidence. Studies show that as testosterone wanes, so does confidence, so dang! we better get us some of them hormones and get all cocky and optimistic. Yeah! (Except I don't want a mustache, so forget it).

JudyB
stickin' with empathy to get through this life alive

I think we all can agree that Cynthia is the real Wonder Woman..smart and brave. #realhero

See above "Harmless Flirting" to a Man it is a signal that the door is open. Many men misunderstand it. The few sharpies get it for what it is.

Judy...yes empathy is very important and those who lack it ...terrifying . #walkamileinthoseothershoes

Susanlynn: The title of the recap says it all.

Steve...yes,a great title !!!

OT- Note to Doris: I just noticed your question regarding my dogs in yesterday's comments. I bought a different brand of dry dog food; and according to the vet, the dogs had an adverse reaction to it which, in turn, caused bacteria in their stomachs. Talk about finicky eaters! They've improved significantly but they're still not at their normal state; so I'm still giving them antibiotics. For some reason, they seem to regress a bit during the night.

Rgv Chick, late to the party and wanted you to know how much I enjoyed your recap. I managed to miss watching Mau put on the puppet show for Anifer, but your description of it is superb. The reunion of Mau and Anifer. Sob! Yay!

I'm sure your finicky eaters will be going full steam ahead shortly.
