Caray, Caray!

Toño is in Mauricio’s office telling him that they have at least one month to get the money together. Mauricio is sick of the beating and trolling he is taking on the social networks from Kika’s fans who idolize her. Toño tells him to just let it go because it will be long forgotten in 48 hours but Mauricio can’t believe that. The image of Logatoys could be affected and his image, too. Toño suggests that they let it go for today at least and have some peace. Toño has to go home to get a few things done before the kids come home. Mauricio says he has to go get Anifer. Fabián walks in as Toño leaves. Fabián immediately wants to know what Mauricio’s neighbor is doing there.

Nerón is talking to his doctor and finds out that he has an enlarged prostate gland which is relatively common in men of his age. Nerón wants to know what that means. Well, the doctor informs him that it could cause him some problems: urinary tract infections, bladder or kidney damage. The doctor tells him that after the age of forty all men should have their prostate checked each year. Nerón explains that he has always felt well and he knows all about those prostrate exams . . . The doctor wants to stay on top of the situation. He wants Nerón to notice if he has problems urinating, if he has to urinate a lot at night, or if he sees any small drops of blood in his urine. Nerón asks the doctor if he is about to die. The doctor says no but he does need to check him out in a couple of days. Nerón asks if it is that kind of checkup. The doctor says yes, it is that kind of checkup. Nerón is bothered and depressed at the thought . . .


Back at the park, Anifer is continuing her horrorific exchange with Kika. Anifer does not believe Kika one bit and insists that Mauricio and Renée would not lie to her. Her mother is alive. Kika understands but she has a plan to prove to Anifer what she is telling her is true. Anifer has to set a trap for her father and “the maid”. Anifer asks how she is supposed to do that. Kika says it is really simple. Ask them to talk to her mommy and they will do the same act they always do: pretend that her mother is writing Anifer and talking to her so she will believe that her mother María is alive. Kika says she knows very well that her mother is up there as she points up to heaven. Kika leaves because she cannot bear to see a little girl cry but if Anifer needs something else, she should call her, look for her on her web page. She leaves Anifer her business card on the park bench, says goodbye. Anifer stares at the business card.

Renée is talking to Rafael who is worried to see her like this. He asks if she is sure she is feeling okay. She doesn’t know what she is feeling. She is confused and has doubts and questions. She still doesn’t know what happened. He suggests that she look for her dad to clear it all up. He can explain what happened. He tells her to remember that every story has at least two versions. She feels like she is in limbo, like the rig has been pulled out from under her. He asks what she plans on doing. She plans to keep going through the papers in the house to see if she can find something. Rafael laughs. He tells her not to do that. She suddenly doesn't know if she should or not.

Lili is in her physics class where the teacher is talking about Newton’s Laws. Pablo stops at the door and looks in. Lili smiles and waves. Pablo moves on. Lili asks to go to the washroom and meets Pablo outside. It becomes clear that Pablo only wishes he could be in those math and physics classes that Lili finds so boring. He sees them as doorways to fantastic careers. He might want to go into economics or international business given the chance to study. Lili laughs. She cannot believe that he loves those things. Well, he does love her more and they sneak a couple of kisses. They will meet later after school.

Fabián and Mauricio continue with their conversation. Fabián reminds him that whatever he wants to say about Falcón if the company is hanging on it is because Falcón and his investment. Mauricio does agree with that but then makes the mistake of saying that he is working to turn things around. Fabián laughs out loud when he hears that Mauricio is “working” amd tells him that he does not even know what that word means. Fabián then says that now he gets it: Mauricio is looking for another girlfriend who can finance the family business. The smile has gone from Mauricio’s face as he suddenly realizes the cruelty of Fabián’s comment. Seeing the change in Mauricio’s expression, Fabián makes a point of saying that he was only joking. A serious Mauricio says it has nothing to do with “girlfriends”. He is working on something that will save the production, albeit small, of the papá-mamá doll. Fabián seriously wonders how he is planning on doing that. Mauricio smiling again says Fabián will know about it when the time is right. Fabián thinks that if he wants to keep this a mystery he has every right to do so. Then Fabián tells Mauricio that after an analysis of the accident was made, it turns out that it was preventable so now they will have to define everyone's responsibilities. Mauricio adds that something else was preventable: Fabián sleeping with Kika. Fabián says so that is why Mauricio is telling him nothing about his plan. Mauricio insists that that is not the reason. He was a little upset about Fabián sleeping with Kika at first but now the past is the past.

Nerón is back home with Flor telling her that his tests all came back normal and that the doctor said that he was like a twenty year old. She is overjoyed and they kiss. He tells her she is going to have her man for a while and Milady will have her dad for a while yet. Soon Flor is soon listing all of the landmarks events that will take place in Milady’s life. Suddenly Nerón is worried he might be pushing up daisies at Milady’s quinceañera. She answers that he is going to keep on living just as he has his whole life. She does not want to hear any more of his negative thoughts. She sends Nerón to his tire businesss and lectures (in her best chipmunk voice) Milady on the importance of finding a man who is a good provider.

Mauricio picks up Anifer and notices how quiet she is as she sits with a frown in the back seat. Anifer says she wants to talk to her mother. Mauricio says sure but they should wait until she sends them an e-mail as she usually does. No, Anifer explains that she has sent her emails that weren’t answered so wants to talk with her. She also wants to have Renée with them so her mom can get to know Renée, too. Mauricio says she knows they cannot do a video chat. Anifer does not care. She wants Renée there and for her to also write something to her mom. Mauricio agrees but says they now have to go to the doctor to get them to take off her splint. Mauricio cheers but Anifer just stares.

Jorge is having dinner with all of his children saying that he is happy that they are doing well and getting used to their new school. Baldo says school is normal and Lili adds that it is boring like all schools. Valentina mentions that she likes school. Jorge wants them to work as hard as they can so they can be someone in their life. Baldo and Lili nod. Jorge asks Samuel how he has been feeling. He says fine. Jorge asks him about going back to the Blue Shark website and hurting himself. He shows Jorge that his forearms are normal. Jorge makes it clear that he is only asking Samuel about this because he is worried about him. Jorge tells Samuel to go and do his homework. Everyone else gets up to leave but Jorge asks them to stay for a moment. He needs their help in keeping an eye on Samuel. If they notice something strange with Samuel or if he is depressed, he asks them to let him know. Taking care of Samuel is all of their responsibility. They all agree.

Mauricio is asking Renée to pretend one last time to be Anifer’s mother as a favor to him. Renée says the issue is not doing a favor for him but rather deceiving Anifer. He begs. She refuses until he wears her down. He thanks her. She makes it very clear this is the very last time. Mauricio is so grateful for everything that she has done for them. He wants to repay her with helping with her scholarship. She say no way. She is doing it only for Anifer. They go out to talk with Anifer in the living room. She is still serious and not talking.

Lili and Pablo are outside in the cul-de-sac talking about how they love each other. She does not want to wait anymore. He doesn’t either but he has never done anything either. She says then they are both the same. He asks if she is sure that she wants to do it. She nods yes and says she is very sure. She has no idea of where they could go since she does not know anything about this city. Pablo suggests his boss’s house when nobody is there. They both smile.

Mauricio and Anifer sit at the table with the laptop as she asks why her mother is not answering. Renée is standing in the doorway of the same room with her cellphone. Mauricio makes the excuse that that is how the internet connection always is. Renée suddenly gets a ”message from the university” and has to go answer it. While they are talking to her mother, she will be answering the university in the other room. Suddenly there is an email from Anifer’s mother. Anifer calls for Renée to come because her mother just sent a message. Anifer says her mother stopped writing. Well, Mauricio says she has to answer. It is like a game of ping-pong back and forth between both of them. Anifer is watching Renée who has returned. Renée excuses herself so she can answer her teacher. Anifer leaves the room and goes to find Renée. Renée is surprised by Anifer and drops her phone and says she has to send some information but will be right back. When Renée comes back to the living room, Anifer is supposedly answering her mother. Instead, she writes that she does not know why her father and Renée are lying to her. Her mother cannot write to her because she is dead. Mauricio and Renée are incoherent in their excuses until Anifer tells them to be quiet and what bad people they are. She leaves the room. Renée starts the ensuing argument with Mauricio saying “I told you so . . .” Mauricio is at Anifer’s door begging her to not lock herself in and to talk to him. Renée asks her next but there is no answer. Renée apologizes. With no answer, Renée lights into Mauricio about how she knew this was going to happen. Mauricio says she does not know how he feels. He is the worst father in the whole world. He is just miserable.

Verónica comes home as the kids are setting the table. They are excited to see her. The good news is that she has the whole afternoon free. The bad news is that she has to go on another trip tomorrow. Toño has also joined the group at this point. She is going to Los Cabos in Baja California. Toño is complaining about her being gone almost all month and then still not being able to celebrate their wedding anniversary. Verónica says that she knows and is grateful for everyone’s patience but work is work and too much work is better than not enough work. This is a good streak for everybody and they have to take advantage of it. Tania is concerned about her being able to come to her ballet performance. She says she will be there to hug her, applaud and kiss her. She asks the kids what they want from this trip. The kids have all sorts of requests. The kids then suddenly go out to play. Verónica makes a remark about how she got off early to be with all of them as Toño ignores her and walks into another room.

Mauricio is still outside of Anifer’s door telling her that he didn’t know what to say because he did not want to hurt her. He starts saying that his mother died when he was her age and stops himself not knowing why he is telling her about that. He asks her to let him come in. It was not his intention to deceive her. He was just waiting for the right moment to tell her. He didn’t know how to tell her without hurting her. He asks her to open the door again. He is getting worried. She has been closed up in her room for a long time. Renée manages to open the lock on the door and when they enter Anifer’s room, she is not there and has left her tablet. Anifer must have gone out the window.

Toño’s kids run into Anifer who is hiding out by the dumpster. She tells them she is there so Mauricio doesn’t see her. She does not want him to find her. She is never going back and does not want to live with him. She begs them not to say anything to anybody about her being there. They agree. Tania tells her she cannot sleep out there because it is going to get real cold. Tania says they will help her if she does not want to live with Mauricio. They all agree.

Flor is out talking and walking with Milady. When Pablo sees her leaving he runs over to ask if she is going out. Yes, she is. From her list of things she wants to do, it seems like she will be gone a long time. She wonders why he wants to know. No real reason, he was just wondering. Pablo runs over to tell Lili who is outside of her house. Pablo asks her if she is sure that she really wants to do it. At the same time, Toño’s kids are trying to hide Anifer as they are traveling all bunched up in a group. Lili asks if Pablo wants to do it. Yes he does. They manage to slip into Nerón’s house just as Mauricio and Renée come running out of his house looking for Anifer. Renée and Mauricio start searching the cul-de-sac by knocking on Rafael and Rodrigo’s door. They are not home. They continue their search outside. Verónica is telling her kids to come inside. Mauricio manages to catch up to all of them and Toño to let them know that Anifer is missing. Verónica says she can’t have gotten very far. Tania and Ernesto smile to themselves. Jorge says that his kids can look after the younger ones and then all of the adults can go looking for Anifer.

At Nerón’s House, Pablo and Lili kiss and giggle. Neither really know what to do. Pablo wants it to be romantic like in the novelas and books. They kiss and giggle some more.

The adults are out looking for Anifer and at Toño’s prompting split up to cover more ground. Mauricio wonders if she went up a tree again because if she did they will have to get a psychologist to cure her. Mauricio repeats to Renée he just wanted to avoid Anifer suffering. If he could only "turn back time", he would have done it way differently. While everyone is out looking, Nerón has joined Flor out on her walk. Jorge sees him and asks if he has seen Anifer. No they have not seen her. Renée and Mauricio join the group and Renée asks to see Anifer’s tablet to get a clue as to where she might have gone. When she opens the tablet, Kika’s website appears. Why would she be on Kika’s site if she does not like her?

At the hotel, Kika is leaving and telling the bellboys to be oh so careful with her expensive luggage. Mauricio and Renée burst into her room and asks her if she knows where Anifer is. Her tablet was on Kika’s web page. Renée asks if she talked to her. Mauricio asks if Kika told Anifer that her mother was dead, yes or no? Kika admits to it not to hurt Anifer as much as to destroy him. Renée asks one more time if she has any idea as to where Anifer might have gone. Kika asks if she has run away. Mauricio says she better tell him if she knows something else. She does not know and does not care. Renée tells Kika off before leaving. How could she do that to an innocent child? Kika reminds her it was they who lied to Anifer about her mother, not her. Renée warns her that if anything happens to Anifer it will be on her conscience . . .if she has one. Kika suddenly is worried that if something happens to Anifer it will be her fault.

At Jorge’s, all of the kids are together playing and wondering about what to do next. Valentina calls for Lili to come down and help out. Out of nowhere, Valentina asks the kids if they really do not know where Anifer is. The three Barrientos kids look at each other and say no. Valentina asks them if they are sure.

At their impromptu love nest, Pablo and Lili are still upright and kissing. He tells her that he does not have a condom. Lili says she does not care. He says it is a pretty big risk not to use one and they go to look in Nerón’s room. There must be one somewhere.

Nerón and Jorge are still out searching on the street. As they are talking, Nerón says something about Pablo hiding and the truth comes out about Pablo being an illegal from Guatemala. He thanks Jorge for getting him the job at the school but now Jorge is all conflicted because Pablo is “illegal” and that is not his style to get involved in things that are not legal. Nerón gets nervous and asks him not to say anything to anyone especially Rodrigo and his friends. Pablo is only a kid. Jorge gives him his word that he won’t say anything to him but tells him that Rodrigo is not the only danger. Anyone could report him and he would be deported. At that point, Nerón says it is better they just go looking for Anifer.

Pablo cannot find a condom in Nerón’s room but he still suggests they go to the storage room where he has a mat he sleeps on. Lili asks if it would not be better in a bed. They both smile and sit on Nerón’s bed.

Mauricio ends up at the bus station describing Anifer to employees to see if she might have been there. Nobody has seen her. Renée insists she has to be in their neighborhood. Anifer did not have the means to get to the bus station. Mauricio does not agree because Anifer is so smart.

Toño and Verónica are out looking along the route to school. Toño says the school isn’t really that close. The truth of the matter is that they do not know where to look. They run into Leo’s mother Lola who greets them both with a kiss and asks what they are doing in the school neighborhood at this time. Toño is real nervous and suddenly as a hard time talking. She starts talking about meeting with the mothers. Toño cannot tell her fast enough that they are in a rush. Verónica has been taking it all in. She asks Toño why he hasn’t told her that he has been going to the mother meetings. He says it didn’t matter because the meetings were so boring. Verónica say that in her days they always met at very expensive restaurants. Toño makes sure this topic is cut short and they split up in their search for Anifer.

Valentina goes into her room and finds that Lili is not at home. She asks her brothers if either of them know shere Lili is. Maybe she is looking for Anifer. Ernesto starts babbling something about a joke and finding Anifer being easy. Tania shuts him up. That piques Valentina’s interest and all three of the Barrientos kids say that they know nothing. Valentina is not buying it and asks why Ernesto shut up so suddenly which of course he denies doing. She asks if they saw her or not. Little Fidelito says that he saw Anifer. Tania puts her hand over his mouth. Valentina says that if they are not telling what they know, she is going to Rodrigo the policeman who will throw them into jail for being liars. Tania and Ernesto finally admit to knowing where Anifer is.

Flor arrives home with Milady and finds the door unlocked. She is still puzzled how that happened. Pablo and Lili are still fully clothed sitting on Flor's bed and kissing. Flor thinks she hears something and calls out Pablo's name. Instead of finding them, Flor finds Anifer hiding out in her house. She asks why she is crying and holds her as Anifer sobs.

The Barrientos kids tell all of the adults about Anifer wanting to get away from her dad and how they had her hide at Nerón’s house because it was unlocked. Flor says that with Milady she must have forgotten to lock the door. That is why the kids hid her there. The adults tell the kids how bad it was for them to do what they did and how hard they looked for Anifer. Anifer is seated with the kids looking grim. Mauricio and Renée come running. Anifer tells Mauricio she does not love him anymore as he tries to make up with her. She repeats that she does not love him and because of him her mother is dead.
