Por Amar Sin Ley, 3/16/18 Chapter 10 Viernes: Death, Taxes, and Envy

Chapter 10: Death, Taxes, and Envy

Olivia's voice: Previously on D.F. Law:
  • Alan met with his banker about getting major assets of his firm transferred into what he said were Carlos' personal accounts. He told the man that he was looking out for Carlos' interests. The banker seemed to recognize that there were some serious issues in play and wondered whether this was entirely above board. Nonetheless, he shook hands with Alan and left the meeting.

  • At the morning meeting at Vega & Associates Alonso brought up the first item on the agenda, the new senior attorney. Benjamín tried to stand up to give his self-serving speech about Leticia when Alonso announced that Alejandra would be joining them. He gave his reasons for his decision. Leonardo, Roberto, and Victoria supported him. Leonardo pointed out that Olivia and Leticia worked well together because of their different skills. Olivia said she would continue to work with Leticia as they had been before. Gustavo remained silent, as nobody had requested his opinion. After Alonso left the conference room Benjamín got up and went on about how unfair this was and how Leticia had earned the promotion. Roberto teased him about being “her personal lawyer”, which Benjamín may or may not have caught the meaning of. The pompous fool went on about how all of them will never advance because higher-ups will always be gotten from the outside. Leonardo pointed out that Alejandra's expertise in international law will benefit the entire firm and isn't that more important than what would benefit him. Everyone stared at Benjamín.
  • Lourdes went to the funeral home to pay her final respects to Joaquin only to be stopped by his son, Ramon, who accused her of destroying his family. She pointed out that his parents had been divorced but he didn't accept it. He ordered her to leave. Paula and Alicia tried to calm the man down, but were not successful. He shouted to them to leave and closed the door behind him.
  • Olivia stopped Leonardo in the hall and told him she was available if he wanted any help. She had been warned not to do this and the result – him telling him he didn't want to talk about this and walking away – was predicted correctly.
  • Victoria stayed late in the office, working in order to distract herself from the recent tragedy. Roberto entered her office and reported that Dario had not yet been found. Victoria was determined that he be prevented from getting custody of his children. He offered to stay in the office with her but she said she would be alright. He told her to call him if she needed anything. She embraced him before he left.
  • Gustavo told his wife on the phone that he had to work late investigating a case. He went instead to see Milena, his mistress, who greeted him at the door with her pink brassiere exposed.
  • Leonardo went home to find a farewell note from Ana Maria, saying that she hoped he would someday forgive her. He took out his cell and resisted the impule to call her. He crumpled the note.
  • Roberto drank alone at the club where he was approached by a lady on the make. He said he had just make a big mistake. He asked her whether she knew any lawyers named Leonardo or Ricardo and she said no. She asked what this was about and he declined to explain. She told him her name was Pamela and he ordered a drink for her.
  • After hauling Gustavo's ashes Milena tried to talk him into leaving his wife to be with her. He did not answer her, but they went for Round Two.
  • Paula was reading at home when Alejandra came home to give her the good news about Daniela's case, walking away from Carlos' case, and about going to work at Vega. Paula was happy to hear this and liked the idea of Alejandra working with Ricardo. Alejandra told her that he was married with children and she was going to keep her distance. She did not want to be like her grandmother. [We do want to hear more about this.]
  • Leonardo went to Ricardo's place and told him about Ana Maria's note. He had put it in his pocket before coming over and now took it out and ripped it up. He was incensed. Ricardo told him he felt the same way when he discovered Elena's infidelity. “Forget about her,” he advised before offering him a beer. He accepted and commented that it was a good thing that Alejandra was coming to work with them. Ricardo mentioned that he was interested in her personally as well as professionally. Then they talked about Leonardo possibly taking Carlos' defense case. He was known to accept only cases where he genuinely believed in the client's innocence... in contrast to Carlos who took anyone who could pay his fees. Leonardo thought he should know about this right away. Ricardo thanked him and said that his interest in Alejandra had nothing to do with this case.
  • Paula and Alejandra continued their conversation. Alejandra was not looking to get involved with anyone now. Paula wanted her daughter to move on and find happiness, pointing out that Carlos had betrayed her. “Time passes very quickly, daughter,” she said. “It's the only thing you can't hold onto or recover.” She then told her about what happened at the funeral parlor.
  • Gustavo told Milena he could not leave his wife because their son was so young. He gave her the usual line about wanting to be with her but had to stay married “for the sake of the child.” Meanwhile Milena thinks she is “much more woman than your wife.” Not a good strategy to say so.
  • The Mendez trial took place at the prison. Roberto questioned Ricardo about what had happened in the parking lot. Ricardo said that he had shouted at Mendez when he saw the weapon. There was no way he could not have heard him, but he fired the pistol anyway and Leonardo was hit. Mendez' lawyer, Suarez, asked Ricardo if his client had been in control of himself at the time. Ricardo answered that he was, but he was angry. Suarez pointed out that Mendez was being bankrupted due to the terms of his divorce and that his anger was due to Benjamín Acosta's verbal bullying. He had no more questions. Leonardo and Benjamín were present for this. The judge asked Roberto if he had anything else. He got up and said that a sane man doesn't try to commit murder. Suarez said that his client is not by nature an aggressive man. Roberto called on Benjamín to testify, then asked him to describe Mendez' attitude. Benjamín said that Mendez was furious and that his actions were premeditated. The divorce had been granted and Mendez came looking for him at his office. He finished by saying that he had to pay to the full extent of the law. He started ranting about not allowing him to get away with this, ranting that he could have been killed. He had to be reminded that it was Leonardo Moran who was shot. Benjamín went on about Leonardo being his friend, etc. The judge dismissed him and he went over to Leonardo, who said to him that he wanted to see justice done, not that Mendez be locked up for life. The judge decided that in view of the circumstances of the crime and the arrest he sentenced Mendez to six and a half years in prison. Mendez tried to protest and Benjamín taunted him by saying it should have been fifteen years. Leonardo tried to get him to stop. He said it was a just sentence. Benjamín said sotto voce that he bet Mendez wouldn't last ten days. Leonardo obviously didn't like his attitude. Ricardo congratulated Roberto, who then tried to shake hands with Leonardo. Leonardo declined to and walked out. Roberto had to realize that Victoria was right. On his way out Leonardo passed Juan in the corridor as the others caught up with him. Roberto suggested they celebrate, but Leonardo declined to do so “with you, Roberto.” Ricardo told Roberto that he had to give him time.
  • Lourdes was still crying at Paula's house in the company of her two besties as Alejandra left for her first day at Vega & Associates.
  • Gustavo was leaving for the office when his wife, Isabel, said he shouldn't be working late all the time. He said he wasn't the owner of his own time and he works hard for the household. She said she was grateful but... well, mutual “Te amos” before he left. He did have a rather shiftly/guilty expression when she couldn't see his face.
  • At the courthouse a clerk brought out a folder which Leticia snatched from her hand. Olivia gently rebuked her impatience. She looked inside and saw that the judge did not grant her petition. Leticia gave her an “I told you so” about demanding too much financial support. Olivia said that the request was not an exaggeration; it was to relieve the suffering of children. Leticia scoffed and said that this couldn't be compensated for with money. Olivia agreed, but that the money would make this less painful. They argued about the children's mother and Leticia also said that the children should be in a government school. She further said that if Olivia keeps thinking the way she does she won't go far as a lawyer. [Is that the pot calling the kettle black?] Leticia walked out.
  • Aye, Dios Mio, what is Alejandra doing visiting Carlos? She explained that she is starting at Vega & Associates and will not be able to visit him so often. He pretended to understand. He didn't yet have a court date. He went on about getting out and getting back together with her and she was more and more creeped out by the nanosecond. She finally got up to leave. He insisted on embracing her before she left, but she didn't kiss him. As she walked out he looked as deluded as ever.
  • Ricardo met with Virginia's doctor, who told him he believed she was losing her mental facultires. He didn't think she was capable of making decisions and was becoming paranoid. In answer to Ricardo's next question he said that it was very possible that she could be declared incompetent. He warned Ricardo that he should not mention this to her because it would be counter-productive. Ricardo got up to leave and asked if he could call with more questions later. They shook hands. Then the doctor tipped his when he said “All her life my aunt has been used to ruling the roost, the family, and the business.” Ricardo looked like he smelled complicity as the doctor went on, saying that his cousins trust him with this for the sake of discretion. He went on about protecting his aunt, her dignity, etc., etc. [Ricardo seems to have a good BS detector.] He said he had no doubts and thanked him for his time as he left. Once he left the doctor called his cousin to say “Yes, your lawyer was just here.”
  • Alejandra arrived at the office and was greeted enthusiastically by Carmen. When she sat down in the office she was to share with Ricardo she noticed the framed photos on the sideboard and went over to look at them. Olivia came in, introduced herself, and offered to show her around.
  • Victoria sat at her desk and paused. Roberto knocked before he entered and she asked him how the case had gone. He told her it was very simple and she was pleased at the outcome. He also had other good news, which was they had found Dario at the home of one of his friends. They had him in custody. She was eager to confront him but Roberto told her that she would have to file for custody of his children on behalf of Rocio's parents. She agreed, saying she would talk to them. He reminded her to keep a cool head.
  • Ricardo went to see Virginia, who was not pleased to see him. He tried to explain that her children were worried about her. She called shennanigans on that, saying that her children just want the money for themselves. Her son-in-law was a ne'er do well who had never worked a day in his life and is just exploiting Lina. She blamed herself for spoiling them when they were younger. All she wanted to do was to protect their inheritance. Ricardo said he wanted to see if what he had been told was true. She told her nurse, Fermin, to tell him what he had heard. He told Ricardo that his boss's children wanted to take the mansion from her. In fact, they wanted to take everything. She nearly accused him of being their accomplice. He explained that he wanted to meet her to see if she was lucid. He then said that the case was complicated and he wanted to recommend a good lawyer for her. She didn't want one but accepted the business card he handed her.
  • Leonardo visited Carlos, explaining that while Alan had given him all his information he needed to talk to him personally. He asked why he wanted him to defend him and Carlos answered because he only defended the innocent and he was that. Leonardo asked whether this was an act of revenge and Carlos began talking about how strange it was that he was arrested almost immediately.
  • Olivia showed Alejandra around the office and introduced her to Victoria and Roberto, who greeted her graciously. Then to Leticia, who accused her of stealing what was rightfully hers.

Thanks Urban, good recap.

Leticia needs a industrial strength
Laxative. And a enema. I wouldn't hire her to defend a thief stealing his dentures from a crooked dentist.
And that Don't make alot of sence, but who we talkin about here? And Im
Sleepy so I'm going to bed so I can make more sence tomorrow, lol.

Thank you Urban, good nite all.

Thank you Urban! Both you and Jardinera are doing a fantastic job with what seems to be a more complicated TN than the usual, with all of the attorneys, cases, and clients.

I'm on the west coast so I haven't seen it yet but knowing myself as I do - I'm a morning person and go to bed early - I'll probably only see half of it.

I hope Rob and Leo can make up soon. I can tell that Leticia will hate Ale but I'm hoping that Vicky and Ale will become friends.

Ale needs to stop visiting Carlos. While I don't think he killed the hooker, he is still a scumbag. I actually think Alan somehow killed her or had someone else do it, since he seems to be jealous of Carlos and now is draining his bank accounts.

Welcome back, Looloo!

I agree; I think Alan is draining the assets and Carlos will have a hard time when and if he gets out of the slammer. Alejandra will be so busy at Vega & A that she couldn't visit Carlos if she wanted to. That will also give her time to realize that Ricardo is divorced and available. I also hope she becomes friends with Victoria.

Thank you Urban. Thanks to you, I made it through a whole episode without my Cliffs Notes last night. Like Who's zoomin Who? And if you pay more attention to the women than the men, (I do) these little bearded turds almost look the same.

Leticia is going to be a handful. Notice the way she stepped in front of the other 'Welcomers' to deliver her first hateful look at Alejandra? As though it is somehow her (Ali's) fault. I say she is going to be a real problem because she is dishonest and does not play by normal office rules, so with her, anything goes. Ali will probably try to be fair and honest which is a colossal mistake. Fight fire with fire surely applies here.

If Old BooHOoo Broad was in fact the man's other woman for years, she has no one but herself to blame. His kids hate her, does she wonder why?

Another good one UA. Thanks for the bullet points. I'm going to take another unpopular position and say that I'm glad Leticia didn't pull any punches and let Alejandra know up front that she resents the fact that the position went to her instead of her skanky Leticia self. Usually the villains are Uriah Heaps, pretending to be best friends and covertly undermining the unsuspecting heroine. This gal is letting Alejandra know immediately that she'll be an implacable enemy. And letting the rest of the firm know as well. Safer for Alejandra I hope to know in advance what she's dealing with.

On the future, my one fear is that Dario will escape from jail and Victoria will be in danger as he seeks revenge on her. Saint Roberto to the rescue I hope!

Thanks UA. Well done, and elegantly done, as usual.

Thanks, Urban. Your recap is a great treat to get this morning.

JudyB, good point that's it's better for Alejandra to know from the start that Leticia is an enemy. Leticia is losing it, even openly showing her annoyance with Oli.

Leonardo pointed out that Alejandra's expertise in international law will benefit the entire firm and isn't that more important than what would benefit him. Everyone stared at Benjamín.

Maybe the legal stuff isn’t always realistic, but the office politics sure is.

He asked her whether she knew any lawyers named Leonardo or Ricardo and she said no.

Gotta love Roberto’s sense of humor.

Meanwhile Milena thinks she is “much more woman than your wife.” Not a good strategy to say so.

I doubt if Gustavo would marry Milena even if he were single. Now that Milena is saying she could give him a kid –- to best his wife?, how crude – his other brain should kick in to realize she’s no sex toy he can put back on the shelf when he gets ready. She means business and will do whatever to oust his wife.

Carmen’s nurse is that dreamy-eyed guy that made such a great May-December couple with Sabine Moussier in La Malquerida.

Looking forward to seeing how polar opposites Carlos and Leo work together. Maybe if Alejandra sees Carlos is now in good legal hands, she'll feel less compelled to make compassion visits to Carlos.

Isn't Carmen's nurse also the poor but noble public defender who watches Ricardo at work because he wants to learn? Anyway, just more proof that the evil cousin and children are in cahoots to defraud Mom. Who is no "perita en dulce" but clearly in full possession of her faculties.

JudyB, Juan is the noble public defender. He's cute but doesn't have the dreamy eyes of Carmen's nurse.

Nice to see you back, JudyB.

Leticia isn't very smart, is she? Right out in the open and that could get her closer and closer to a pink slip.

Milena is an idiot. Full stop.

I don't want to see Leonardo take Carlos' case.

Nice to be back UA. As I said, I was too much of a wuss for Caer en Tentación but I'm really enjoying this one. And your and Jardinera's fine recaps.

Ok, now I'm back,not sleepy. Urban I
Like your bullet point recaps, you get all the important stuff.

I also agree that it's good that ale
Now knows what she's dealing with. The
Sneaking around of Leticia would have
Taken more time and gotten kinda realy boring.

I'm glad I'm not the only one wishing
Ale would stop visiting carlos. The man
Had relations with a hooker who is now
Dead. Also is that relationship. She's
Just to Nice for her own good. He was
Doing stuff at that party before he got drunk. I don't understand why it's
So important to sew one last oat befor
The wedding day. Of course in his case
He could have been sewing them the all
Time they were engaged. I just wish she'd stay away from Him. She should probably Go home and take a shower after being In that place. Its dirty.

I'd like to know more about that thing
With the dryin lady that had an affair
With the grown kids daddy. When did it start, was the wifey still in the bed
Of happy matrimony when he was with
The weepy lady? Those kids sure hate
Her.She better sleep with one <●> eye
Wide open.

Thank you Urban.

Welcome back Judy & Loriloo. Fun times
Ahead.

Urban, thank you very much.

It was so good, prefer your recaps more than a good novel.

Nina, you so creative, sleep with
<•> open. Only you would come up with something like that. Sorry, my ‘’eye’’ dont compare to yours.

Urban, thank you for a fantastic recap.
I especially loved "Gustavo remained silent, as nobody had requested his opinion". So true. It seems that nobody pays attention to Gustavo and he has no influence what so ever in the office. I am a bit surprised that Victoria, at such a young age, is already a partner, whereas Gustavo, who is well in his forties, is not, especially since we saw earlier in the child support case that he is a good creative lawyer.

"Aye, Dios Mio, what is Alejandra doing visiting Carlos?" is exactly what I was thinking when seeing this scene (including the "Dios Mio"). She is obviously uncomfortable to be there, the love is gone, he is a cheater and did her wrong, so why continue with this torment? She cringes every time he talks, so what's the point? She could still support him with his legal troubles without having to go on with this charade.

Irene

I laughed during the entire Mendez trial scene with Roberto acting as a prosecutor.
Obviously, the producers did not do their homework regarding criminal law. The Mendez trial was a criminal trial, which in any country, including in Mexico, is conducted by a prosecutor, who represents the public interest. It is impossible for a criminal lawyer from a random law firm to suddenly act as a prosecutor. A prosecutor is an appointed public figure.
It is even more ridiculous that a lawyer friend of a victim in the case acts as a prosecutor.
It is a clear conflict of interests and were Roberto really a prosecutor, he should have recused himself in this case, because in no way would he be able to act impartially having known the victim.
I tried in vain to tighten my beanie, to no avail.
Also, generally, a judgment in criminal cases is not delivered on the spot. A judge has to write his sentence and argument it, so that an appeal based on what was said in that sentence could be launched.
I know, I know, it is just a telenovela, but somehow can't ignore it.

Also, Ricardo committed a glaring ethics violation by wanting to recommend a good lawyer for Virginia (by the way, this actress played Fernando Colunga's mother in Soy tu duena".
Sure, the children were lying to Ricardo regarding the case and he is free to not to represent them but as long as he still does, he owes them a duty of loyalty, which he obviously failed to fulfill by making recommendations to Virginia to the detriment of his clients.

Olivia gets on my last nerves with her constant chasing of Leo. Girl, get some dignity, he is not the last fish in the ocean. He does not want you, move on!

Niecie in MD regarding Gustavo "his other brain should kick in to realize she’s no sex toy he can put back on the shelf when he gets ready". It seems that Gustavo wants to have the cake and leave it too. He wants his perfect wife and child and he wants his lover, exactly as a toy that he can put back on the shelf when he is done playing. I am sure it is going to backfire on him.

I agree with Judy B regarding Leticia. She is crude and ready to step on corpses to get to her goal, but at least she is honest about it and not behaving like a mosquita muerta while following her agenda.

Kirby, I must admit that even paying equal attention to the men and the women, "these little bearded turds almost look the same". I took me several episodes distinguish Roberto and Benjamin.

Irene

Hey everyone: Hoppy Sunday.
I just have a quick question, as I thought I had at least the whole cast memorized. In Urban's first 'Title' screenshot of Gustavo, who is the woman standing in the background in the burgundy dress? It can't be PinkBraBigBoobs as her hair was much darker and this one does not look like she may float away like one of those 'Happy Birthday' balloons. Is it his wife? I must have looked away for a second.

Thanks,
TN Genealogy Dept.

Yes, Kirby. She is Gustavo's wife, played by Issabela Camil.

Irene, all the other legal stuff went over my head, but I did wonder whether it was okay for Ricardo to recommend a lawyer to Virginia since in a way he's her adversary since he's been contracted by her corrupt kids.

The Virginia / Kids will be an acid test for Ricardo to see if he sees what is really going on and turns on his own customer to right a wrong, or if he will be Mr. 'By the Book' and help the kids screw over their own Mother.

Thanks Niecie.

Gustuva has a beautiful wife, what does he want with that hooker trash?
O Yeah, The balloon boobs and sex.

It is presented a very poignant situation, Nina. The wife seems caring and affectionate, not to mention lovely, and yet Gustavo is far more interested in an outside affair. No justification that most of us would understand. Although "opinions may vary" as a wise commenter once said!

Well JudyB, we'll just have to see how this tide crashes in. Or out. There is
Gonna be alot of beach erosion after
This storm is over.

The earlier versions of those balloons were hard as a rock and uncomfortable as hell.

Lotta erosion, eh? NiNa?

Ole balloon gal it appears is only good for one thing, well, actually two I guess, really. The wife is a Mother, faithful (we assume) companion, even possibly a good cook, among who knows how many other things. Just a no brainer. I don't get it either.

Milena is "forbidden fruit."

Gustavo is a senior attorney but not a managing partner. Isabel is the perfect Executive Wife who dresses appropriately for company social functions, probably does charity work part-time, and comes from an appropriate family. Benjamin's wife may also be like that; we'll probably find out soon. Consequently, both of these unfaithful husbands are bored and are looking for excitement. It's Madonna/Whore syndrome.

Not too mention: "If they will do it FOR you, they will do it TO you."

In the Animal World the animals understand that forbidden fruit is forbidden for a reason.

But to be honest, National Geographic has done lengthy specials on "infidelity" in animal/bird pairs which are touted as mated for life.

Many birds seem to pretty much get away with it, but the primates react as though they were in a TN themselves.
:-)

Well I understand that people get bored with the tried and true. Illicit sex always seems more exciting and adventurous....and probably is. But that's when you need to check in with those frontal lobes and decide whether the risk and the olé olé fun is worth hurting your family and possibly destroying it. There is a lot of emotional and financial pain that comes out of the decision to cheat. And I don't think it's just a matter of sex drive...it's the ego boost that comes out of snagging somebody new and hot and ready to do just about anything to please.

" ego boost that comes out of snagging somebody new and hot and ready to" yeah but then I can't explain the BooHooOldBroad who had been his 'Other Woman' for decades. ? ? ?

My camera has lied to me but it's never cheated.

:-)

Urban--You deliciously covered all the hi-jinx and lo-jinx going on at Vega. Thank you.

Kirby--You are definitely on fire this episode. About them birds, though. I had heard....that often the female chooses a mate who will be a good provider (bland, uninteresting, who can bring lots of worms and flies), but will have a fling with a flashier sort to jazz up the gene pool. In this case, it seems to be the reverse.

Gustavo is making a definite fashion faux pas. I don't think double-breasted suits are going to make another come-back. Furthermore, he doesn't seem like the type of guy to give off pheromones capable of attracting females the way Roberto does.

I'm also enjoying the Roberto-Victoria "don't touch me, but hug me." The pre-set blinders she has on vis a vis Roberto are very slowly peeling away.

BTW--the mother "suffering" from dementia is named Virginia (played by Jaqueline Andere, Chantal's mother). Her caretaker was also Jacinto in Hotel de los secretos.

Benjamin seems to be the sort who doesn't care if the whole world knows he and Letty are having a fling. Alonso, if aware, should draw up a clause in the employee contracts about intimate relations among staff members--at least while in the office. Of course, he can't do that because then Ric and Ale wouldn't be able to pursue their flirtation until it's time for Ale to find out he's divorced. I wonder how long that is going to take.

Whaddid I tell you all....I suspected Alan of being a bit nefarious before he met with his banker. I'm sure now that Carlos did not kill the prostitute he slept with, but that Alan had a lot to do with her meeting her end. That doesn't mean I like Carlos any better. He's ambitious to the point of defrauding or misrepresenting his clients for big fees. He still acts too outspokenly needy for my taste. Is there something about Ale he can't do without?

Oh, Kirby--Do we know whether Boo-Hoo Lourdes lived with dead Joaquin? I did hear that the children, or at least one of them, blamed her for taking their father away from their mother. If that is the case, I bet Lou and Jo lived together for a good many years and this was the children's way of paying her back.

I concur that it is quite probable that Jo left Lou something in his will and the mother with nothing. Ale will come riding in for the rescue.

I don't have anything to go on about Jo and Lo, it just was my gut that she was the scorned "Other" that ruined the family, as we know the actual Father had nothing to do with it, right?

We always want to blame the wrong person. Leo punching Robby, Joaquin's kids blaming her. Every time, like I said, Somebody steals your car and when you find it you shoot your own car. And the Lourdes' of the world think "He's going to cheat with somebody, it may as well be me."

So WTF is wrong with Letty? Did somebody tell her if you sleep with a married coworker, Any married coworker, you've proven yourself worthy and will be promoted?

Kirby--All your examples merit a touche (except for the poor car). According to Milena--all a girl wants is a home, hub and children. This was not the way to go, trying for it after the fact (of snagging and snogging a married man).

According to Letty--we don't really know what she wants from Benji. She expected to get that senior position more by Benji and Leo advocating for her than sleeping with him. He, on the other hand (I say that, but not being a male, may be mistaken) wants something easy and when Letty announced she was leaving, he sees easy-street empty and nothing to replace it with. He promised her a position once he makes partner, hoping that will make her stay, but do we know how long that will take?

Who are the partners, anyway? Do we know?

I think the partners are Alonso (owns the company), Roberto, Ricardo and Victoria.

If Roberto, Ricardo and Victoria are NOT partners, their opinions are more esteemed by Alonso than those of the other associates. Ricardo, at least, seems to be Alonso's right hand man.

Benjamin is in the same position at Leticia: they are NOT partners. I doubt Benjamin is even a senior attorney. At any rate, Leticia is stupid for sleeping with someone who is NOT a partner so she can rise up the ladder.

Gustavo being in his 40s or 50s and being at a standstill in his career is probably why he's having an affair. There's probably nothing wrong with his marriage and his wife probably gives him regular sex. He's bored and stalled & Milena gives him the thrill he's lacking in his personal life. He will never leave Mrs. Gustavo unless Milena gets pregnant, which she will do to oust Mrs. Gustavo.

Because Mrs. Gustavo is in the credits, I expect this storyline to go on for a while. The Other Woman always wants to take the wife's place because it gives her a thrill that a man would throw away his wife and family away for her. It's a very powerful feeling. The problem is, if the man can throw away his wife/family for you, who will he throw YOU away for?

Sounds like Alejandra's gramma was The Other Woman to somebody and I wonder if that factored into why Alejandra is so straight laced while Paula has been married 4 times?

I'm wondering if Ricardo is planning to withdraw from the case, while Alejandra represents Virginia?

Anon, you are correct about the partners, thanks

Kirby: Is that the lady in the red dress in the 1st picture, who was on "PyP" ?

If Lourdes was the reason for Joaquin's divorce, it makes sense why his children never liked her. But why didn't Joaquin ever marry her?

I hope the lady whose kids are trying to declare mentally insane wins the case. She's clearly lucid I dont think any doctor would be able to declare her crazy or paranoic without being paid under the table.

I don't remember Alejandra saying anything about not wanting to be like her grandmother. Paula told Alejandra that she was behaving like her grandmother, as in she was being old fashioned in not going ahead to eat with Ricardo.

Anon1146

Steve yes she was in P&P as Caridad Herrera Fuentes

Yes, and she played the mother of Ilithya Manzanilla (Olivia) in LQLVMR. The actor who played her husband in that series will turn up soon in this one.

Hi all. Urban: Thanks for a quick and to the point master recap! Great snark also! Perhaps somebody already mentioned this: Lourdes Munguia plays Paula's moaning and groaning, balling and blubbering ad infinitem ad nauseum friend, Lourdes. She may dress fine, but ITA there's some other reason the old dude never married her after the divorce. Wonder if that will ever be persued as a sub-storyline.

True, this tn has pulled out all the stops to bring in a heck of a lot of their top artists/actors. Why no 3rd tn instead to keep them all busy?

Nice again to see some old-timers on this patio. Judy B., you might want to get your hand back into recapping with us. I miss your wit and wisdom.

" moaning and groaning, balling and blubbering ad infinitem ad nauseum friend,"

Dammit, that's even better than BooHoo Old Broad. I know when I've been beat. :-)

I actually like this set up with all of the guest stars. For one, you're watching the show like "Hey, that's ___!"

Two, you're wondering who's going to show up next.

It works because the show is about a busy law firm, their personal lives and their cases. The cases themselves are actually a character, if that makes sense.

Anon207,"the problem is if the man will throw away his wife/family for you who will he throw YOU away for?" See I dont get why people cheat and thinK they'll be happy cuz in their mind they got better for themselves. Really? Don't they know what goes around will come back and bite U in the ass. The person you cheated with Will most likely cheat on you or you will again. So here's two stupid people, the cheater and the one being being cheated with. This is all so exhausting.

When Ale walked in crying Lourdes with Paula and other lady they explained the sitution to Ale. I clearly remrmber Paula explained that Lou and her old beau enjoyed a ‘’ noviazgo’’. I kinda thought she also said they did not live together. But I definitely remember she said noviazgo. I take that as boyfriend and girlfriend.
