Papa A Toda Madre #54 4.3.18: You Can't Bury The Past, Especially In a Used Casket...

Or Once A Liar, Always a Liar, Are You Surprised?

As soon as Neron goes to wash his hands, Flor retrieves Neron’s makeshift will from under the table and sees that he is willing all his things to Roberto Robledo. Flor is shocked that Neron really thinks he’s a goner.

In Kika’s suite, Jorge gets dressed quickly as Kika smiles. He stumbles to explain why he’s in such a huff, and just had a quickie with her, but Kika is more than happy to oblige. Jorge nods and explains that he loves “doing it” but doesn’t like “talking about it” because he had a very strict upbringing. Either way, he enjoys his time with her and Kika loves how fiery and passionate he is and how opposites definitely attract. She then sits him down and asks about how Lili and Baldo were born so he tells her how he cheated on Dulce, right before their wedding, and got Yuriria pregnant. Kika nods and asks if he still loves Dulce; Jorge admits that he would regret marrying Dulce if it weren’t for his children, Samuel, and Valentina. Kika then asks if he still loves Yuriria but Jorge doesn’t want to talk about it. Kika insists, since she’s a “cool girl” and Jorge admits that she is the love of his life (but doesn’t reveal that she’s passed cause ‘drama!’) and kisses her goodbye. Once alone, Kika wonders what this means for her relationship with him.'

The next day, Valentina goes to tell Lili that dinner is ready, but she isn’t hungry. Valentina admits that she told her because she needs some help, but Lili thinks the men can do everything themselves if they want to eat. Valentina goes to sit down by Lili and asks her why she has looked so sad lately. Lili explains that she misses her mother, and this is the first time she won’t spend Christmas with her. Valentina also misses her mother, but Valentina tells her it’s not the same as her mother is dead. Valentina reveals that Dulce hasn’t even sent her a text message so it’s like it was the same thing. Lili nods and then shows her a picture of Yuriria as Valentina shows her one of Dulce. (Once they stopped bickering they realized they have more in common than they care to admit).

At Mauricio’s, Renee drinks a tea with Rafael and tells him about Mauricio’s latest (inexplicable) decisions, especially since Logatoys is more successful than ever. She knows he’s hiding something but doesn’t want to pry so Rafael suggests she take her mind off the whole situation by taking about her ovum donation. Renee suddenly gets tense and goes to put some sugar in her tea. Rafael follows her and tells her that they must be organized and plan everything down to the letter and Renee nods. He reminds her that they have her trip to plan for as well and Rafael asks if she is reconsidering. Renee shakes her head and tells her that she’s just worried about Mauricio. Rafael notes that she saw him leave early with Anifer and Renee explains they went to Maria’s (Anifer’s mother’s) tomb. Rafael nods.

In San Crispin, Mauricio and Anifer, with flowers in hand, arrive at the cemetery and find Maria’s grave. Mauricio suggests they come another day, if Anifer feels bad, but Anifer is okay. She admits that she likes all the trees that line the cemetery because they are nice. She then faces Maria’s tomb and tells her mother that, even though she misses her, she is living with her father and loving it. Anifer then suggests Mauricio say something and Mauricio, with tears in his eyes, thanks Maria for giving her the best thing in his life, Anifer, who brings him joy every day. He then suggests they go drink something, lest he burst out in tears, but Anifer prefers to stay a bit. Mauricio nods and watches as Anifer puts the flowers on Maria’s grave and fixes them so they look nice.

Veronica and Tono take Ernesto to the doctor but he is confused as he is not sick or anything. Tono explains that Veronica is exaggerated, and that is why they are there, so Ernesto walks away to explore as Veronica chides Tono for blaming her. A vase falls a second later and they run to see if Ernesto is okay. Ernesto doesn’t know what happened, he was just distracted, and Veronica explains that this is why they are at the doctor, because he is distracted. The doctor arrives them, asks if things are okay, and then asks Ernesto if he wants to play in his clinic while he talks to his parents. Ernesto is reluctant, but his parents insist and they all go to the clinic.

At Logatoys, Renee and Gladys have a coffee (since when they friends 4ever tho???) and discuss the whole Fabian debacle. Gladys thought Renee knew the latest gossip but didn’t tell her, but Renee shakes her head and they both admit that Fabian always rubbed them the wrong way as he seemed too pompous and such. Renee then asks if Gladys knows where Fabian lives, as they doubt he will live in a common neighborhood, and Gladys slyly announces that her computer is unlocked but she’s going to the bathroom, so Renee should behave and not do anything she wouldn’t do (wink! wink!). Once alone, Renee goes behind the desk, finds Fabian’s address, and takes a picture of the details.

Anifer lays down on the grass covering Maria’s grave and tells her that she misses her very much, especially during Christmas, and Mauricio suggests they go as it’s time. Anifer thinks Maria is too far from them and suggests they move closer to her. Mauricio doesn’t think it’s a good idea, and reminds her they can visit whenever they want, so Anifer asks if his mother is close to him. Mauricio’s eyes fill up with tears again and he explains that she didn’t but hasn’t seen her in a very long time. Anifer asks if she will take her to visit her and Mauricio nods so Anifer asks about how Aurora died. Mauricio remembers the fire, and the pain he felt when he saw his mother parish because of his irresponsibility. He begins to cry and Anifer hugs him and begs him not to cry. Mauricio admits that he gets sad when he thinks about what happened and reminds Anifer to never play hide-and-seek in a factory that can catch fire. Anifer wonders why he feels this way, as her death was not his fault, and Mauricio thanks her. He promises to take her see Aurora one day and Anifer wonders if they can relocate Maria, so she can be closer to Aurora. Mauricio thinks she’s perfectly fine where she is, especially since she loved nature, so Anifer thinks they can bury her close to a tree but closer to them. Mauricio promises to think about it and Anifer cheers before telling Maria the good news. Mauricio doesn’t seem as happy about this.

Renee finds Fabian’s apartment building and knocks. After a second, Fabian opens the main door and laughs when he sees her. He tells her that he is not buying what she’s selling but Renee hopes Mauricio selling Logatoys to Falcon has nothing to do with her house. Fabian laughs because those things are not related, and Renee asks if he has done anything to remedy her house’s title situation. Fabian shakes his head but assures her that he doesn’t care about her house, for now. Renee thinks he should change the title to her name, if he’s not interested, but Fabian doesn’t care. He tries to close the door, but Renee warns him that she will start the trial to put the house’s title under her name. Fabian thinks she can do whatever she wants, as the house is legally his father’s and he’s the only heir, but Renee argues that she’s lived in it her whole life. Just then, Noel screams, demanding to know who is at the door. Renee asks Fabian about who he lives with, but Fabian thinks that’s none of her business. He suggests she go back to her house and Renee apologizes for prying though she doubts anyone can stand him. Fabian explains that he lives with an older man, who has no one else in the world, and Renee doubts he is so generous and good-hearted. Fabian tells her to mind her business again and tries to slam the door again, but Renee is adamant that she will fight for her house because…she stops herself before Fabian demands to know what she knows. Renee finally reveals that they may be siblings, as her mother likely had an affair with his father, but Fabian thinks she’s making it up to gain his sympathy and win back her house. Renee assures him that the last person, who’s sibling she would like to be, is his.

After running some tests, the doctor sits down Tono and Veronica and explains that Ernesto may have attention deficit, but they need more specific tests as there are 6 types and every type requires a different treatment. He assumes he may have attention deficit without hyperactivity. Tono wonders what the treatment will consist of and the doctor tells him they will start with Omega-3 and then probably use medicine to see how he responds. Veronica hopes it’s not a big pill and the doctor assures them that he won’t be the first or last kid to take medicine. Veronica and Tono are doubtful though.

In her suite, Kika lays with Jorge, fully clothed this time, and admits that she will miss Jorge, a lot, but she always spends the holidays with her family. Jorge thinks it must be horrible to spend the holidays without her family but Kika suggests they pass the time while they wait for Jesus to bring them gifts. Jorge asks her not to commit blasphemy, as he is already sinning with her, but he can’t resist her Venezuelan kisses. His phone rings then, interrupting them, and Jorge catches his bearings before answering. It’s Mauricio, who has a “death situation” on his hands, namely, he wants to exhume a body and take it to the city.

Tono and Veronica arrive home and look at Ernesto, who is distracted playing with something. Tono sits down with him and is happy to hear he likes his doctor because he will treat him though he doesn’t have anything out of the norm. Veronica reiterates that a lot of kids have what he is, but Ernesto is focused on making a bike. Tono wonders if he heard what they said but Ernesto shows him his bike. Veronica then asks him to bring her his books, so they can look over his homework and Ernesto obliges. Once alone with Veronica, Tono admits that he would rather see Ernesto distracted than doped up. Veronica shakes her head and walks away as Tono wonders what he said and goes after her.

Jorge tries to explain the laws to Mauricio, under normal circumstances, for exhumation but Mauricio reminds him that San Crispin is different from normal places. Jorge promises to find out more info for Mauricio and hangs up. He goes to sit by Kika, who wonders what happened, and Jorge explains that Mauricio was too vague and then remembers her history with Mauricio and admits that he feels uncomfortable because she had a relationship with his boss. Kika could care less though and assures Jorge that “the past is the past,” which Jorge takes as a good sign but thinks they should keep their relationship a secret. Kika agrees, as they are mismatched, but Jorge now looks worried. Kika thinks they should worry about all that later, and say goodbye properly, before kissing him.

Jorge and Veronica sit down with Ernesto and try to understand why he drew mountains for his summer vacation project when they went to Orlando. Ernesto is confused so they ask him why he hasn’t finished his homework lately or why he hasn’t followed the instructions. Ernesto asks for forgiveness and his parents forgive him as Ernesto asks if he can go play. Tono sends him off and then he and Veronica concur that Ernesto does nothing they ask of him, and barely finishes what he starts. Tono thinks it’s because they are separated but Veronica tells him not to be silly, Ernesto is the way he is. Veronica thinks they should adhere to the doctor’s orders and give him medicine but Tono is firmly against it. Veronica demands he think things over, as they can regret their decision if they don’t make the right one soon.

That night, Anifer hugs Renee fiercely and Mauricio tells her that she was greatly missed, from here to the moon and back. Mauricio nods and they go sit down and to discuss how their day went and that Anifer learned about urns and niches. Anifer also learned how Aurora died and Renee is shocked to learn what happened though Mauricio admits that it’s not something he usually wants to talk about. After a moment, Mauricio suggests Anifer go shower and she obliges. Once alone with Mauricio, Renee asks him what his wrong and Mauricio admits that, seeing Anifer laying on Maria’s tomb, was hard but everything went as smooth as can be. Renee nods and then reveals that she will start the proceedings to get her house back, but she needs to prove she still lives there. Mauricio thinks she will have no trouble but wants to catch up before talking shop. Renee gives him a kiss and she admits that she wants to enjoy what they have, together with Anifer, and Mauricio tells her that she is the woman of his life. Renee smiles and tells him she can’t hear him, so he screams, loud enough for that whole cul-de-sac to hear, that she is the woman of his live of dreams.

Ten days later…

Flor and Pablo set the table for dinner when Neron comes with Milady and asks if she shouldn’t be talking soon. Flor thinks she should go and get his test results but Neron promises to get them in the new year, since it’s so close. Neron then asks Pablo to set an extra spot on the table for their honored guest, Roberto Robledo, and Pablo obliges before going to throw out the trash. Once alone with Neron, Flor thinks it’s funny that he’s so close to Roberto, so soon, enough to put him in his will. Neron thinks she will love him, when she meets him, as he’s great and Flor wonders if he’s trying to sell him. Neron laughs this off and then smells Milady and tells Flor that she needs changing. Flor nods and goes off to change her.

As Pablo throws away the trash, he runs into Lili, who evades him without a single word, and goes inside her house as Baldo watches nearby, with a smile on his face. Pablo looks at them for a moment and goes about his business.

In San Crispin, Mauricio supervises as Maria’s body is dug up, but the grave diggers are surprised to find merely bones in the casket. Mauricio is surprised as well, as Maria died only a year ago, and the grave diggers conclude that the remains in the casket are someone else’s. Mauricio argues that Maria’s name is on the tombstone but then notices that the name tag has shifted and pulls off the fake tombstone with Maria’s name on it. He is shocked to learn that the tomb they just dug up is not Maria’s grave.

At Mauricio’s, Anifer offers Jorge a piece of the pie she and Renee made but Jorge says thanks but no thanks. He then gives Renee all the documentation to prove that Anifer is legally Mauricio’s daughter and Renee smiles because it will be the best Christmas gift ever. She promises to give him the documentation when Mauricio comes back and Jorge leaves after a stern goodbye. Renee then sits with Anifer and hope Mauricio comes back soon so they can be with him.

The grave digger wonders if they sold Mauricio a cock and bull story or, at the very least, an old casket, but Mauricio remembers that Fabian took care of the whole burial and wonders how he could be so stupid.

That night, Mauricio calls Renee to tell her that he is in Mexico City and on his way but only went to pick up the gifts. He promises to be home soon and hangs up as he arrives at Fabian’s house and starts banging on the door. Fabian doesn’t come to the door, so he calls Fabian to leave him a very threatening message: “I won’t leave you alone until you tell me if Maria is alive or not.”

Sometime later, Fabian is happy to see Mauricio left and walks Noel over to the dinner table, so they can have Christmas dinner together. Noel is shocked, but Fabian reminds him that he loved Christmas before and was just like Santa Claus. Noel demands he stop talking about the past and not serve him turkey either because it causes him indigestion.

At Jorge’s, everyone pitches in and helps set the table as Valentina declares that it should be Christmas more often. Jorge asks her to not pick a fight right now because it’s time to celebrate as a family. Lili and Baldo admit that they miss their mother and their Christmas dinner and will never get used to the way things are. Jorge assures them that Yuriria would want them to be happy and celebrate together as would Dulce, so they should smile and eat because then they will open presents. As they begin to eat, Samuel and Valentina get notifications and Jorge chides them for looking at them while they eat. He then receives notification himself (“from his brothers”) and suggests they all take out their phones and look at their notifications as he goes outside to answer his. Once Jorge’s left, Baldo thinks he’s acting strange, as he never talks to his brothers that much, but the rest of the kids shrug.

Outside, Jorge video chats with Kika, who called to wish him a happy Christmas and hopes all his wishes come true. She hopes that his wishes are sinful because then they’re even better and smiles. Jorge stumbles around for words and then wishes Kika a Christmas Eve though Kika will only be happy until they are under the covers and blows him a kiss before hanging up. Mauricio arrives then, and Jorge tells him that he left the documentation about Anifer with Renee. Mauricio thanks him and wishes him a happy Christmas before walking away but Jorge stops him because he too suffered the lost of a loved one and hopes he’s okay and Mauricio thanks him, calls him by the wrong name, and Jorge corrects him before walking away. Mauricio then goes home, dons on his Santa Claus hat, and puts on the biggest smile his can muster before announcing that “Santa is there!” Anifer runs out of the kitchen and hugs him but Renee knows something is up and wonders what is happening with him. Mauricio tells her nothing, he took care of everything he had to in Monterrey and has the best news: Anifer is now a Lopez Garza Cruz! They all cheer among the many Christmas decorations, a big contrast to the inner turmoil Mauricio feels inside…

Alfredo, I loved the title and really enjoyed your outstanding recap.

I actually felt bad for Kika when she pressed Jorge about Yururia l Kay to find out that she had been the love of his life.

So, Lilí is ignoring Pablo. Hmmmm . . .

It seems to me that R y R may have rushed Renée i to a decision about donating an egg.

Verónica and Toño sure were intent on giving Neto too much information!!!!! Oh, joy!! Of course Toño would think it is better for Neto to be distracted rather than drugged (such black and white thinking!!!!) . . .

No turkey for Fabián’s dad if you don’t want him to throw up! Okay . . . LOL

When is María going to appear?

The auto-correct gremlins are out tonight: “Yuriria only to find out” . Now that sounds better!

Thank you for your recap, Alfredo! I love the title, too.

So María is not dead. Yet. At this point, she needs to show up and rescue Anifer from Fabian's schemes, because he is going to do something awful. We haven't had a kidnapping yet... #telenovelarules

Jorndog Jorge is committing all sorts of sins, for such a strict uptight religious guy. My, my, so hypocritical. Kika sure seems happy, though. The man must be a machine.....er......must really deliver......er.....have amazing Duluths! Gotta watch out for those quiet types. LOL

Neurotic = FFWD

Will Toño and Vero ever agree on anything?

The background music for the Kika/Jorge scene reminded me of 1960s movies. Don't know why, but it was very different and catchy.

I thought Jorge and Kika's relationship was strictly physical, but Kika seems somewhat attached to him. Or is Jorge emotionally attached too, but just doesn't see it? Their scenes together still give a surreal vibe. But they do go together. I didn't really believe him when he said he would have left Dulce if it weren't for the younger kids. He could have just not have married her in the first place. It would have been the easiest thing to do out of everything else he's done to keep up appearances.

The Turubiates christmas dinner was very sober. Though what Jorge said of Yuriria was appropriate, it wasn't as easy to hear him speak of Dulce in a similar manner. I know he was trying to make Sammy and Valentina feel better, but how do you make them believe she wanted them to have a happy holiday when she never even texted them back? I think Sammy and Valentina have it worse just for the fact they were abandoned.

I guess Vero and Toño wanted to test Neto the whole day to convince themselves that he does have ADD. How did they never realize that he always seemed out of it? I wouldn't be surprised if Toño has it too, but he did get far without ever being diagnosed.

Rene didn't seem so convinced anymore about donating her egg. It's harder for women in relationships to do it, though. I think she's going to back out.

What does Neron own besides the house and his small business? He acts like he has a big inheritance waiting for Milady. His pension maybe? Is Flor going to throw the fit during christmas dinner in front of the guest of honor?

Maia

Alfredo, thank you for this excellent recap. You cracked me up with "[Jorge] can’t resist her Venezuelan kisses." Ah, yes, the old Irresistible Venezuelan Kisses ploy.

Like Maia I was a bit surprised by Kika. Jorge's saying that Yuriria was the love of his life had an effect on her. I thought she had just been indulging her "liberality" with Jorge, but maybe it has grown to be something more than that for her. I'm not so sure about Jorge, and it's so much better when both share the feeling.

I, too, am surprised that neither Vero nor Tonto noticed anything wrong with Neto before this. And neither did I, he seemed like a normal kid to me. Maybe he's just confused by the "dos meses después", much like I still am.

Fer instance, Lili's ice cold reaction to Pablo, what are we to make of that? Have they ever talked in the last two months? Has nobody at school started saying "Me gustas" to her? What has Pablo done with the left over condoms? Sheesh!

Well, at least she doesn't look pregnant.

Andy

Such a well-done, sensitively written recap Alfredo. I especially liked this:

"They all cheer among the many Christmas decorations, a big contrast to the inner turmoil Mauricio feels inside…"

From your recounting of events, it sounds like there were many instances where emotions on the outside differed from emotions on the inside. Haven't seen this yet, but if Lili was aware that Baldo was watching, it makes sense that she would be cold to Pablo. Baldo has rather quickly become a mini-Jorge, at least where his sister's romance is concerned.

I had to laugh when the doc [apparently] said the first line of treatment for ADD is Omega 3's. Hysterical. Still, I don't suppose it will hurt.

I'm delighted that Jorge and Kika have a robust love life and hope his heavy sense of sin doesn't derail it. They are clearly good for each other. In the short run anyway.

Fantastic title Alfredo and another incredible recap!

“They all cheer among the many Christmas decorations, a big contrast to the inner turmoil Mauricio feels inside…” was my favorite line. No lack of effort on the Christmas decorations - I was mesmerized by the quick blinking lights on Mau and Anifer's tree. Great fun.

“Mauricio, with tears in his eyes, thanks Maria for giving her the best thing in his life, Anifer, who brings him joy every day”. One of the best things about this TN is that there is a silver lining that occasionally shines, a thread of hope. A glimmer here and there that love is the strongest antidote to any machination.

My heavens, even Gladys’ heart seems to now be functioning.

Lest I get carried away “Noel is shocked, but Fabian reminds him that he loved Christmas before and was just like Santa Claus”. No growing heart here. What on earth happened?? Bitter, party of one…

Kudos to all of you eagle eyes who spotted the new Milady the other night. The replacement is sweet and was smiling at Neron so warmly. I always get the feeling the actor really likes children.

Jarifa, I also felt badly for Kika that Jorge so readily admitted to having a love of his life. I think they are the perfect match.

We’ve discussed and debated the overall very poor parenting here. But at least they are trying. Vero and Tono need to put their differences aside and unite in terms of taking care of their kids. Jorge needs to lose his rigidity. Neron needs to get a grip. Mau has come the furthest. But, I have to say that Dulce (IMHO) is the very worst. “Valentina reveals that Dulce hasn’t even sent her a text message so it’s like it was the same thing”. ‘Nuff said
.
I sympathize with Tono and Veronica’s dilemma regarding Ernesto’s treatment. I have several friends who agonized over whether or not medication was the right answer.

Judy and Andy, I’m not quite sure what to make of “Lili’s ice cold reaction to Baldo”. It seemed as though she wasn’t the slightest bit interested. I got the sense Lili didn’t know (or care) that Baldo might have been watching.

“Jorndog Jorge” – oh doris!!!

Alfredo, thank you, thank you.

Diana

"Maybe he's just confused by the "dos meses después", much like I still am.". Andy, this caused an authentic LOL over my tea this morning.
We have to wonder if the writers were searching for yet another PSA plot device toss in, this week.
I agree that Neto has not exhibited any behavior that Viewerville could notice. Ah, to medicate or not to medicate; that is (always) the big question. (apologies to Willie S.). And more difficult when the parents are not on the same page. About anything.

Lily and Valentina last night --- I did not comment because I needed to chew on that for a while. Lili's mother is dead and death is final. Sad, horrible, time will heal. Valentina's mother can always return, but knowing notsoDulce CHOSE to abandon them and not even text hurts far worse because the child truly feels rejected. I'm going to lean towards Sam & Vale having it worse by a narrow margin. Feeling rejected and unloved by a parent does more emotional/psychological damage, IMHO. The scene last night gives us a glimmer of hope that the two girls will find some common ground and begin building a relationship.

I'm sticking with my CrackPot Theory™ that Kika & Jorge will end up together.

Those Venezuelan Kisses...uh huh, wouldn't have anything to do with those LEGGS from Heaven to Earth. ?

Mau and Anifer were truly tearjerkers at the grave. And Surprise, no surprise when Mau dug "her" up.

So WTF is up with Lil.? My advice still stands. Stay away from that cray cray stuff, or if it is irresistible don't give her your real name. We have had our time jump and Lil is not freaking out about being late, so I guess Pablo dodged a bullet.

Toro Voro------------->FF Snack Time
Neuron---------------->Something to drink

Doris, you are right, Maria needs to come back to save Anifer (and Mau) from Fabian. That could screw around and leave Renee out, though. She looked almost sexy in the white pants. I think she is crazy to give an egg to R&R for their 'baby hobby'.

Thanks Alfredo. I got back to the TV and Mau was looking into a grave and I was lost until I read the recap.

Jarifa: Call this episode, "It's Hard Out There for a Narcissist".

Thank you, Alfredo.

It is annoying that Mau keeps lying and hiding things. Was it necessary to lie that he went to Monterrey when he actually went to Chiapas to get Maria's remains? Not to mention the truth behind Logatoys selling and Anifer's paternity. He should tell all of that to Renée. Doesn't he trust her? She could be of help with some of that.

Once the transfer of Logatoys to Fabian is complete, how will Mau earn a living? He doesn't have any money. As far as we know he does not have any marketable skills. Strip club?

Lili is angry with Pablo that he returned her back to Jorge's cage. She feels rejected. But Pablo did the right thing for both of them.
The scene with Valentina when they showed the pictures of their mothers to each other was touching.

The end of the scene of Mau at the grave site was as if the camera was in the casket and the lid was being closed. Amusing little special effect.

Lili is still mad at Pablo for bringing her back home. She told him they were officially over and she didn't want to see him ever again right in front of Jorge. I think she was being sincere.

Maia

Kirbo®- If Maria comes back to claim Anifer and thus save her from Fakian's clutches, some possible plot twists are:

- Mau & Renee finally knock boots (how has this not happened yet?) w/Renee ending up preggers
- and this pregnancy happens before said egg can be donated to R&R, leaving them to advertise on Craigslist or Jose'slist or whatever
- Maria gets hit by a bus, post anvil to Fabian, leaving Anifer free to be adopted by Mau-nee
- (____________________ add your own theories on the matter)

The Patio could start a pool on the potential outcomes, just like football season. "Fantasy Telenovela" outcomes!

Clearly I have watched too many telenovelas. 🙄

LOL!!!

Thank you, Alfredo, for another of your signature fantastic retelling.

Those blinking lights at Maury's and Neuron"s were a bit distracting.

Diana, I always feel better after reading your always positive recaps.

Andy, you are a pragmatist !

I have noticed that our chief hypocrite Jorge cannot even stop talking while he is kissing. I still cannot figure out how they got together. one minute they squabb ling. Then, Suddenly they were in bed.

Good Morning, Patio Pals! A BIG thank you to Mr. AAA for the excellent retelling of last night’s events. Had it not been for your recap, I would have thought that Looney had started their slicing and dicing...the episode seemed quite choppy IMO.

Great comments to start this morning, Thanks, Pa-tee-oooh! You all have pretty much read my thoughts, so DITTO!

Those Christmas lights were quite distracting, but I do admire Mau for putting on a happy face after such a trying day.

Renee’s revelation to Fabian about being his sister seemed a little too quick, but the she does have a habit of doing things at a whim.

Noe’s yelling out at Fabian is probably just a glimpse of the control that father has over the son.

Kirby, ITA, the Fakianed grave was of nobsurprise; now what the heck did Fakian do with Maria???!

Lucio, if Mau works at a strip club, I’ll donate for his salary...teeheehee

Waiting for my car to be serviced...more later :-)

now what the heck did Fakian do with Maria???!

RGV I was thunk-ing about that last night. One clue stands out: Remember when Snakian told Mauricio "Maria is not the woman you think she is."? That just seemed ominous to me. I thought it could mean that she was nothing like the sweet country girl Mau has an image of, and that she might have just run off and left Anifer. Or maybe she took off with a man and left Anifer with the Serpent, having found out that he was the Father.

Remember my snarks about Maria "Does liberal mean easy?" ☁

☢kirbo

And the Serpent spoke of her in the present, not in the past tense as you normally do when someone is deceased. Unless she is in hell, where he came from, hence she is not like..dead...to him.

Her, is Maria.

Good afternoon, good people!

now what the heck did Fakian do with Maria???!

Good question Chickie. This TN has quite a few mysteries, a few now solved, others not. Maria is the biggest, I think. Is she really Anifer's mother? Anifer certainly had a biological mother, she may even have had the wonderful mother who raised her, as Anifer tells it. She even drew her well enough that Mau had a flashback, so she has good drawing skills. She drew Juan Perez well enough that Mau recognized him, too.

What if Maria comes back, what happens to Anifer? We know Mau is not the biological father. His adoption of her, or whatever it was he did to give her his name, involved fraudulent DNA testing.

Well, I do know this much: the next time I am offered a sappy, hackneyed but feel-good RomCom TN with cute little girls, and even cuter big girls... I will tread more carefully.

:-)

Andy

I think that Maria and Fab will both die in the end, and Renee , as Ani's tia, will gain custody of Ani. Then, Maury and Renee will have a beautiful wedding with Ani as flowergirl in the finale. Voila ! Bob's your uncle...and Maury is Ani's papa again...legally .

Kirby...if Maria is "liberal," what is Kikidee? Superliberal ? #euphemisms

She's for sure a free spirit. But she's brought some hoppiness to old unhappy Jorge, so she's not all bad. Hey she skipped Pablo and Neuron.

BTW have we actually seen Jorge smile yet?

Kirby, when Fakian told Mau that Maria was the the woman he thought she was , what Can to mind was that Maria was not a good person...aside from being “easy.” Since she was an activist, might she have been involved in some type of revolt or other criminal activity?

That should read “...what CAME to mind...”

I think that Maria and Fab will both die in the end, and Renee , as Ani's tia, will gain custody of Ani. Then, Maury and Renee will have a beautiful wedding with Ani as flowergirl in the finale.

Wow, Susanlynn! That would work! (and you included "a beautiful wedding", what a nice surprise that would be! :)

It would be rough on poor Anifer if she lost her mom twice, though perhaps she wouldn't know.

Anyway, I do NOT endorse any of this, as I don't want to jinx it.

Different topic: I wish they would give Gladys (Bárbara Torres) more to do and get her to talk a little slower. I thought she was great as Luisa in Ramoon, but here just OK.

We have all noticed that none of the guys in this show are strong, capable men. However, we have seen some strong , impowered women...Renee, Kikidee, Vero, Flor, Gladys...even a forceful teen ...LIly..and a powerful little girl..Ani. There was an interesting conversation on the Outlander forum (theLitforum.com.) about younger women not liking stories in which the men are the strong partners in a relationship or work. Do you think times are changing in society and as to what people want to see on tv and in movies?

"Do you think times are changing in society and as to what people want to see on TV and in movies?" It depends on the answer you want to when you are taking the poll.

FWIW, It might have to do with the audience too. IE of the hundred or so men I know I am the only one who watches TNs.

I'd betcha if you did a poll of the NASCAR viewers or 'Battle to Death' or 'Blood Guts Glory' Fast and Furious movies you would get different poll results.

Susanlynn: Maybe its another kind of PSA from Univisión. Women can be smart and capable, hold down professional jobs, and be the stronger of the 2 in a male-female relationship--and that's all good!

Kirby...I think that many yo ung people no longer believe in the true love that tns usually offer up in their finales. We are getting very different roles for men and women than we used to as tns try to keep up with changing attitudes. When I first started watching tns ten years ago, the leading lady was virginal until she was bedded by and often wedded to the galan. Nowadays, both leads are often with other people before they end up together.

SpanProf. It's sad that we might need (or LooneyVision thinks) we might need a PSA to remind us of that.

Spanprof...I just do not like the idea of showing strong women by making the men all look like weakwilled dolts. That is not fair to men.

Thanks. ☂Kirbo

You're welcome .Fair's fair. Some of my favorite people are men. Equality and respect for both sexes.

" favorite people are men"
Yeah Susy, from reading your posts on here it sounds like you may have married one. :-)

I definitely did. He is at the top of my favorite people list. I also have a good opinion of my male Caray mates as well as many male relatives and friends whom I admire. GOodness and strength is not determined by gender in my experience.

Thanks, Alfredo.

Jorge has too many hang-ups for me to count. But has it never occurred to him that Valentina could use a mother stand-in and that Kika might just be the one? Mau, go right on not getting his name right.
