Papa a Toda Madre #93: Trust Is the Name of the Game and No One Is Playing...

Or Kiss Like No One (Except Your Daughter) Is Watching

Ariel shows Renee and Mauricio the documents the private investigator gave him confirming that Noel was never in the rehabilitation clinic. Mauricio thinks Ariel’s story doesn’t make any sense, but Ariel explains that Noel could’ve been hiding out. Mauricio nods but Renee reminds them about the woman who called and told her Noel was at the bus station and left. Ariel doesn’t think so and promises to find Noel; Renee gives him a big hug as Mauricio watches.

Dulce can’t believe Jorge doesn’t believe her when she said her savings come from years of hard work. She tells him that she could’ve left with all her money elsewhere, but she chose them over everything. Jorge nods but asks that she left the twins to him and she can take care of everything else while they get on their feet. Dulce smiles and caresses his hand, reminding him that the best part of a fight is the reconciliation, but Jorge rejects her advances.

Outside of the kitchen, on the stairs, Valentina and Samuel overhear their parents fighting, again. Valentina wonders if this is why Samuel wanted their parents back together, so he could hear them fight all the time. Samuel shakes his head, but she tells him to get used to it and leaves with Samuel in tow.

Renee looks over the documents Ariel gave her and thanks him for his help, though she doesn’t want him to waste money on her. Ariel explains that the PI owed his father a favor and Renee nods. Ariel then asks Mauricio why he is trying to make him look bad, when no one asked him to put in his and Renee’s business, but Mauricio explains that he wants to take care of Renee because she’s his--. He stops short, but Renee wants to know what he meant, as does Ariel. Mauricio apologizes for his mistake, but Ariel laughs at him, because he won, and Mauricio lost. Mauricio gets into it with Ariel again and Renee stops them both, sick of their machismo, when Anifer comes and announces she finished her homework. She then greets Renee and smiles.

Outside of Tono’s, Esperanza walks out with her suitcase as Tono begs her to stay, for him and the kids. Esperanza doesn’t want to think about any of them until she’s all settled in her new place but Tono begs her to reconsider. Veronica follows them out and tells Tono to stop haggling his mother and they get into it. Across the street, Ernesto tells Tania to kick the ball they are playing with and Tania kicks it right into Esperanza’s head. Esperanza goes down as everyone tries to see if she’s okay.

Ciceron watches TV with his kids when Neron comes and turns it off before asking if they can talk about what really happened to his house and business. Ciceron gives the same spiel but Neron is tired of the same story so Ciceron begins to scream that Neron wants them all out and the kids can’t believe their grandpa would kick them out. Flor listens to the whole conversation but walks away, frustrated.

Rodrigo and Rafael visit Manola in the orphanage and she smiles when she sees them. They smile as well and propose they talk more and get to know each other. Manola assumes one of them wants to adopt her but they explain that they both do and Manola cheers because she will have two dads instead of one. She hugs them as the administrator of the orphanage watches.

Esperanza, now aware, tells Tania not to worry, because she’s okay, though her kick was strong. Esperanza then tries to leave but Tono holds her back and warns her that she isn’t leaving until they check her out. Renee agrees but Esperanza wants to leave because she feels uncomfortable, especially with Tono, who didn’t protect her. Everyone urges her to stay and Tono and his family take her back to their house, so she can rest. Once alone with Renee and Mauricio, Ariel bids them goodbye because he has to meet up with the PI. He tries to kiss Renee goodbye, but Mauricio holds him back though he still is able to give her a hug.

Across the street, Anifer sees Mauricio looking at Renee and Ariel. She wonders why he looks so angry and Tania and Ernesto assume it’s because they are fighting over Renee, who Mauricio likes. Anifer explains that Mauricio is already with her mother and you can’t have two girlfriends. Tania and Ernesto agree.

Flor sits down with Neron and tells him to open his eyes because Ciceron is lying to him. Neron can’t bring himself to put his family on the street but Flor tells him to reconsider because something about Ciceron doesn’t seem right. Ciceron overhears her and screams that she’s the one who is poisoning his father against him, but Flor shakes her head and reminds him that she lives and owns the house he is a guest in. They begin to argue over who owns the house and Neron doesn’t defend either of them, so Flor storms off as Socorro looks on.

That night, the kids apologize to Esperanza again, but she kisses them and asks them not to worry. They give her big hugs as Tono comes with the bread and water and gives her some. He insists that she stay for a bit, as does Veronica, but Esperanza insists that she’s okay. Tono asks that they at least go to the hospital, but Esperanza shakes her head. She finally agrees to stay the night, after the kids insist, but threatens to leave tomorrow, if she feels better. Tono whispers to Tania to hit Esperanza again tomorrow and they laugh.

Lili runs down the stairs to go to the bathroom and runs into Dulce. They fight over it but Lili wins as Valentina arrives and Dulce informs her that there is a line. Dulce curses the fact that the twins are always there and there is only one bathroom, but Valentina reminds her to get used to it though Dulce doesn’t think she will have to, for now. Samuel then comes, and Dulce offers to give him her spot, if he really has to go, but Samuel shakes his head. As Valentina rolls her eyes, Samuel asks his mother how things are going with Jorge and Dulce smiles before announcing that there may be a surprise in store for all of them soon. Dulce then bangs on the door and asks Valentina to hurry up.

Jorge is in bed, looking at videos on his phone, when he finds Kika’s goodbye video. He begins to cry as he listens to her words.

In bed, Veronica asks Tono to please leave his mother be but Tono can’t believe she wants to be alone in a retirement home. Veronica reminds him that she wants to live elsewhere, as it’s her decision, but Tono insists that she’s leaving over his dead body. Veronica puts it another way: Esperanza had to take care of his father first, then her children, and she now wants to do something else and she deserves the freedom to do it. Tono wonders what they will do about the kids though, especially now that the cooperative company is working, and Veronica is happy that they may be working together soon and for themselves.

At Mauricio’s, Anifer tells Maria what happened with Esperanza as Mauricio walks out with the garbage. Anifer then tells Maria about her seeing Mauricio with Renee and Ariel and Maria nods.

Outside, Mauricio runs into Renee, who is also throwing away her garbage and they catch up about her upcoming trip to Maryland and her toy design. Renee admits that there is still a lot to resolve but Mauricio thinks that she will be fine, especially now that she has Ariel. She nods, and he offers her a sit at the gazebo before apologizing for his behavior with Ariel. Renee is shocked to hear him be so supportive, but Mauricio can only sing his praises for Renee, despite his initial reservations. He admits that he must accept that Ariel is the perfect man for Renee, but she asks if he thinks that’s true. Mauricio nods and thinks it’s great he will be with her in Maryland, and a life to share moving forward. Renee agrees, because Ariel is the perfect man in the world. Mauricio can’t hide the hurt in his eyes.

Fabian talks to his lawyer at home, who tells him everything is going according to plan. Fabian asks to see the plans for the manufacturing of Mauricio’s toys.

Maria cleans up the table and Anifer asks if she and Mauricio are doing well or if they want to go out on a romantic walk together. She agrees to stay and take care of herself but notices that Mauricio left a garbage bag and goes out to take it to him.

Outside, Renee and Mauricio throw away their bags and Mauricio admits that, while he would like to say bad things about Ariel, he can’t. Renee nods and agrees that he’s perfect but admits that the heart doesn’t chose someone who is perfect, it choses someone who is imperfectly perfect. She smiles, and Mauricio confesses that he is the most imperfectly perfect. Renee admits that she wanted to confess, since the other day, that she can’t stop thinking about him, and Mauricio asks her to try things with him again. They kiss just as Anifer walks out of the house and sees them. She walks away after a moment and they stop kissing. Mauricio admits that he’s missed her and Renee sighs before admitting that she can’t forget him, but she can’t help but wonder if their long-distance relationship will survive.

Anifer walks into her house and Maria asks her about Mauricio. Anifer tells her that he’s outside, but doesn’t say that he’s with Renee, and goes to her room without another word.

In the gazebo, Mauricio admits that Ariel would be perfect for her, and he would understand if she chose him, but Renee can’t help but love Mauricio. Renee wonders if Anifer knows that he and Maria broke up and Mauricio confesses that she doesn’t and Renee wonders how she will take it. Mauricio thinks Maria will be okay, as will Anifer, but asks her to let him hug her for the time being. Renee nods and he hugs her tight.

Sometime later, Mauricio goes to Anifer’s room to ask if she wants a bedtime story, but she tells him that she only wants to sleep. He nods, surprised, but gives her a goodnight kiss and closes the door. He goes to the kitchen and asks Maria about Anifer, who seems to be in a bad mood, but Maria hasn’t noticed. She has noticed that he seems nervous, but Mauricio explains that it’s about the launch of the new toy line before apologizing to her for not making their relationship clear from the beginning, especially because he hurt her. Maria thinks they should talk about it, later, when the wounds have healed, but, either way, they will always be in each other’s lives. Mauricio smiles and nods.

At home, Renee looks at a picture of her mother and wonders what she should do. A relationship with Mauricio would be hard but Ariel is also a catch and maybe she should give him a chance. She wonders what the right choice is.

The next day, Maria runs to Anifer and gives her the kiss Mauricio left her for since he had to go to work early. She notices the girl’s face as Anifer asks about her feelings for Fabian. Maria explains that Fabian is her biological father and she will always feel something for him. She then asks Anifer to hurry up because they have to get to school.

At Logatoys, everyone meets up in front of Gladys desk for the toy launch. Gladys reminds Mauricio that she wants a job at his new company, but Mauricio looks dejected because he has a bad feeling. Everyone tells him not to worry about it but Neron proposes that they cheer for the launch. Mauricio tells them that they are like the musketeers, but no one knows them, and they walk away to go to the assembly line. Renee then arrives, to wish Mauricio luck, and Gladys can’t help but go into a spiel about how love is weird, one day you’re up, another day you’re down. Mauricio and Renee roll their eyes at her madness.

Veronica cleans down her kitchen and tells Esperanza that it’s been while since she’s cleaned the kitchen and she forgot about all the pain the body goes through. Esperanza nods and then asks if she’s found a job, but Veronica shakes her head. She hopes the cooperative company works, because things are getting tight, but she wants to do something else besides that or cleaning her house. Esperanza agrees, and tells her she was meant for more, and Veronica nods as they both agree that Tono is frustrating at the same time as charming. Veronica then confesses that she will miss Esperanza and they both hug.

At school, Anifer asks Ernesto if both his parents got fired at the same time and he nods and explains that they are better than ever, now that they are back together. Anifer notes that her father doesn’t love her mother anymore, especially because she saw him kiss Renee, and thinks he is not a good person. Ernesto asks her not to worry, as she has two dads, and Maria may go back to Fabian, if anything. Anifer doesn’t think it’s that easy but it can happen.

Renee congratulates Mauricio on his toy launch and Mauricio smiles before telling her that he loves with they talk, like professionals, but all they want to do is kiss. Renee thinks they have to make a decision, soon, but Mauricio reminds her that she has to tell Ariel the truth, because he’s free. Renee wonders what she will do with everything they have pending but they can’t talk any more as Maria arrives and Renee bids them goodbye. Maria then wonders why Mauricio didn’t tell her that he and Renee were back together. With an attentive audience in Gladys, Mauricio wonders what to say.

Fabian goes to see Anifer at school but runs into her teacher, who confesses that she can’t trust him after all he did. Fabian thinks that he paid for his error, gravely, and then apologizes for all he did when she was trying to help him. The teacher accepts his apology and confesses that Mauricio and Maria told her who he was. Fabian nods and asks her for permission to see his daughter, but the teacher is doubtful. He asks her to call Mauricio and Maria to get their permission, as Anifer’s company helps him get better, and the teacher obliges.

Mauricio tells Maria everything that happened with Renee and she nods before admitting that she never loved him either, but she loved what he meant for her and Anifer, as a stable father. Mauricio smiles, happy that it’s all out in the open, when Maria gets a call from Anifer’s teacher. She asks if Anifer’s okay and is shocked by what she hears...

Alfredo, thank you for this fine recap, I really needed it tonight because I had turned off the DVR to move a few things and didn't realize I had not turned it back on.

I am so tired of Mau and Renée going back and forth; wrap it up already.

I didn't get to see this episode's scene with Manolita, but she was so cute in Monday's episode I can't see why the guys would hesitate, especially as she likes the idea of two fathers.
I do agree with Diana that the pre-teen boy who stole Rafa's wallet would also be a good candidate, and I expect he will be a lot harder to place than a cute and sweet little girl, and so is more in need of someone to adopt him soon.

andy

Thank you, Alfredo, for another one of your excellent retellings.

Manolito is adorable. Perhaps, R and R will also adopt the boy.

Poor abuela, hit in the head with a soccer ball! What next ?.

It was nice to see tono and Vero cuddling in bed.

I think I liked Cis better when he was was an assassin in Doble !

Later, after coffeeeee☕☕☕

Alfredo, perfect title.

"Mauricio can’t hide the hurt in his eyes" and "Mauricio and Renee roll their eyes at her madness" were favorites. You write with such heart.

"Renee nods and agrees that he’s perfect but admits that the heart doesn’t chose someone who is perfect, it choses someone who is imperfectly perfect". Beautifully phrased.

"They begin to argue over who owns the house and Neron doesn’t defend either of them, so Flor storms off as Socorro looks on". This scene was just painful to watch. Neron made mistakes with his sons, very true. But he learned and grew and is trying to do better this time around. He is in obvious agony and is torn. That said, he needs to defend Flor and get his son to tell him the truth. Only then can things be dealt with. No wonder Milady is in hiding.

Susanlynn, I am so happy you noted it is possible that R&R may adopt both children. Wouldn't that be the perfect ending? Andy and I both seem to feel the young man will likely end up being passed up in favor of the younger children but he deserves a home. And love.

Mau and Maria should have gently explained to Ani they are not together. This is going to allow Fabian the snake to slither in once again. Although his walking may sound implausible at this point, I wholeheartedly believe there are many times sheer will prevails and mind over body is the result. I fear it is a dark force driving him.

Dulce darkens her household.

Shame on Jorge who never seems to learn.

Alfredo, thank you so much for another excellent recap.

Diana

What a nifty title Alfredo. But not much could be done with the actual episode...we're into Circling the Drain time. Other than the scene with Rodrigo, Rafa and the little girl they hope to adopt. Honestly, at this point Rafa and Rod are my favorite couple...they're so cute together in their excitement about having a family. And okay, I'll admit it, Rodrigo is hot...whether he's with a guy or a gal. Love that smile.

Weather here is steamy and I feel like I have fog in my brain. The air conditioner churns away but somehow the second floor, where the bedrooms are, seems to remain hot and stale. First world problem, right? Quitcher complainin' Judy!

Good morning to the Patio...hot or cold, hope you have a great day.

Judy: Looks like Fabian will get bloodthirsty in the final weeks.

Thank you Alfredo. Not much that I can add.

1 I like how Flor's chest shakes when she is mad

2. That bracelet: Is it a cooler in addition so you can carry a six pack in it?

3 I was hoping V&T would get caught up so they could devote some of their time to actually working at the next job.

4 When Mau and Renee walked by the Trysting Swings by the dumpster, I knew a lip lock was coming.

5 School Laura sure looked good in her shirt. Are pants optional at her school?

Forgot to mention Alfredo that "kiss like no one is watching" was a nice call out to the ubiquitous poster "Dance like No One is Watching". Good memories there are several dance studios where I taught aerobics.

Another gorgeous photo Kirby. Thanks.

"the Trysting Swings by the dumpster". Love it.

I'll add my thanks along with Judy's for a beautiful avatar.

I'm now convinced FL has the most beautiful sky on earth.

Diana

Yes, I remember that sky. It has been dreary and/or rainy for weeks now. Raining today. The weeds in the yard are the only thing in FL that is happy about it.

I'm going to have to put a bimini top and windshield wipers on the John Deere. :-(

Thanks. The square avatar does not do justice to many photos, but I thought a pretty pink tree against a blue sky would cheer up a not so cheerful episode.

But THIS is what it actually looks like today.------------------------------------------->>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

What happened to a bedraggled, homeless, hungry D'ulcer showing up at Jorge's door with nowhere to go, Boo Hooing about the rotten hand life had dealt her?

If you've pissed in your whiskey like she did leaving with a criminal and telling her hubby and kids to pound sand, give me one, hell, even a half, a good reason for her to come crawling back if she had big bags of money somewhere.

A hussy like her would check into a nice hotel and lick her wounds, sharpen her claws, and begin plotting her next moooo---ve. Puleeeeeze

Yes, this weather DOES put me into a rotten, rotten, mood.

Alberto, thanks for another excellent recap. I also loved the title.

I admit I fell asleep after the first thirty minutes of this one so I needed the recap.

The comments were very entertaining this a.m. Later. Maybe. :)

I'm waiting for the head count to come in from the Chicken Ranch.

Maybe the Ranch needs to invest in something which can eat a coyote, like a BIG German Shepherd or Rot. As it is, the coyotes or other predators would see the guard ankle biters as noisy desert. just saying

Or a LLama

Thanks, Alfredo. Stellar recap.

I like Rodrigo any day, but with that light beard -- oof!, he's even hotter. Anyway, agree it would be great to see R&R adopt an older kid too.

Guard Llamas keep sheep safe from coyotes:

https://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2003/06/0610_030610_llamashepherds.html

It doesn't mention how they feel about chickens though.

OK. I'm sure you all have the weather channel, so enough of that. I did see a frog in the backyard practicing his breaststroke, though.

Good Morning, Patio Peeps! Mr. AAA, it amazes me how you keep whipping these excellent recaps out to us! Great stuff!! Comments are stellar too. I especially agree with...

Andy: "I am so tired of Mau and Renée going back and forth; wrap it up already."

Susy: "It was nice to see Tono and Vero cuddling in bed." I also liked seeing Vero cleaning and complaining about it...very realistic.

Diana: "Dulce darkens her household. " Can we just lighten up the place by sending her with Snow White?

JudyB, " I'll admit it, Rodrigo is hot..." Yup, he is! ...and that smile that just makes women melt!

Kirby, I didn't notice Laura's shirt, but I did notice the short skirt and boots :-)

OT-Kirby, my chickens are all accounted for, but they did have a visitor at about 1 a.m. I still haven't been able to get a pic of it...darned, sneaky thing. I think it goes around the camera! And I did have an outside dog once, but it kept confusing the chickens with toys. He'd kill 'em, then nudge them so they could continue "playing." I hadn't heard about llamas, but I have heard that donkeys are good for protecting livestock.

I missed the pink tree, but if it's the one you put up some time back. I rememeber it...it made quite an impression! The bird against the blue sky looks awesome; is it a hawk? We've been having blue skies in the RGV...and temps in the 3-digits!

RGV Chick: I hope Dulce gets her anvil, but all of us are losing confidence in seeing it happen. Jorge is a JACKASS!

Kirby: Kika is better off with somebody who cares for her & loves her deeply. I'm happy she said "GOODBYE FELICIA" to Jorge the WEAKLING!

Niecie: Fabian still upping the ante.

Well, that's good news about the Chicken Census. Your former Dog needed sensitivity training.

Laura had on, maybe a short shirt dress or a long shirt no pants. Either way, impressive.
I'm hearing Brooks and Dunn 'South of Santa Fe'. and 'Rock My World' (little country girl)

So why have none of these doofus men not noticed her? Wait... I just answered my own question.

AlfredoAA - thank you for your "recrap" and great title!

I tried to watch this and ended up FFWD--> thru the bulk of it. Not much else I can say except I'll be glad when it's over. (ack!)

The little girl was so sweet with R&R, and such a nice PSA about adopting older-than-infant children.

OK, I'll bite, so what is left for Fabian to do? He has given Renee her rightful house, he has given Mauricio back his company. What's left? Turn Anifer against Mauricio? Then Maria and Ani can nove in with Mauricio and take care of him andMau can rebuy a few of his corvettes and start back chasing skirts. Life could be worse.

Orchestrate the demise of he and Renee's Dad? As I remember, she was making it fairly well before all this came along, and she would be fine after. She already has a nice house, steal HotRod from RifRaf, show him what he's been missing, and make their own kids.

OT: All through Ramoon I sorta considered Esmeralda a 'cute little jail bait'. After seeing several previews of B&B I may change my mind.

Yes RGV Chik, you are going to make me say it aren't you? It's a chicken hawk. More properly called a red shouldered hawk.

Kirby, your eyes are much better than mine, especially when it come to what women are wearing. I just saw too much leg for a school principal, director, or whatever Laura is. When she started coming out, she would wear long loose skirts with a hippie style. Maybe she found herself an urban cowboy and is now changing to western wear...HEEHAAAWWW!

OT- La Bella....yes, Esmeralda does look much more mature with all those provocative disguises she'll be wearing.

Rgv Chick, glad your chicks are all accounted for.

Kirby, I don't think there is any way Fabian has hit rock bottom. I think Maria signed away more than she thought and I think Fabian has total decimation for Mau in mind. One clue may be the latest robot drawing Ani made for Fab. And now Ani is confused and going to cry to Fabian in retailiation for Mau betraying her and her mother by kissing Renee. In short, I don't have answers, just lots of questions.

I haven't been impressed by the B&B previews, in least in terms of Esmerelda. I really like her but she just doesn't seem tough enough. I read Altair Jarabo was the original choice for the role and I think she would have been perfect.

That hawk however, IS fierce.

Diana

Anifer needs some other kinds of kid activities to keep her mind off of Fabian and Mauricio and her mom and Renee. Soccer anyone? More soccer? Dance class? Ballet? Tap? Modern? Contemporary whatever the style is? Folkdance? Painting? Pottery? Crafts? Piano? Trumpet? Tuba? Maria is not working so she has the time to take Anifer wherever whenever and that should not be to see Fabian and to limit her time with Mauricio since Maria seems to have not changed her mind about wanting to go home.

Neron needs to marry Flor ASAP and leave a will where the house goes to Flor upon his death and upon Flor's death is sold and the proceeds divided three ways between his sons and Milady. It is all fair.

It is 90 and humid and the rainy remnants of Alberto have finally arrived. It has felt like rain all day.

That scene between Flor, Ciceron and Neron was awful. I agree with Flor that Ciceron is up to something. But I also get the feeling that Flor brushes off Ciceron and Socrates as objects in Neron's past life because she's in the present with Milady. Flor claiming the house to be hers sounds like she doesn't care that Ciceron and Socrates end up with nothing.

I agree that fair would be the house being sold and divided in three parts, with Milady having the right to grow up there first.

Maia

Weather same here Jarifa. Raining now which means I really should go out tomorrow morning and pull weeds. Sigh. In my next life I want to come back as someone who loves yard work since it is ALWAYS there.

It must be a pain since things are really growing quickly this season.

It's a jungle out there. But someone is coming to help me the second week of June. Otherwise I'd be suicidal.

Okay, we are now down the shore after a long day starting at 5a.m. To get the little girls ready for the trip. We got a text while having afternoon tea letting us know that they are i n the airport waiting for the bus to take them to the magic. Overcast and misty here...same forecast for the next few days....do.not.care!!

P.s. Rodrigo...woof.

Judy...regarding the mowing...grass here is growing fast from all the moisture. Hub basically mows our big yard. Then, he mows at the farm which has springs in the lawn. Then, he mows our lawn...Then the farm.....an endless cycle.

Wait! What? A female WOOF? Oh, lowercase is the gender differentiator? OK. Scared me.
