Por Amar Sin Ley, 5/29/18 Chapter 60: A Very Vega Version

The Vega Family on the march.

“Elena is a woman off her rocker!” Ricardo has reached his limit with her.  She’s unmasked herself in front of Ric The Brick's entire legal family.  Of course, Benjamin gets off a cheap shot about couldn't you've guessed and gotten out ahead of this?  It's your specialty, after all. He smiles knowingly at Leticia who’s also put in her three and a half cents’ worth of finger pointing and claiming her BFF, Vexlena's “got a possible good reason for this, HUH?” before Gustavo shuts her down and puts her in her place.   Still, Elexlena and Company have done just enough to drag Ric over the coals a bit more serving him so publicly in front of the entire law firm.

However, the Vega Family closes ranks and it becomes A Very Vega Vision vitiating Vexlena's new found legal strategy.  Alonso says they’re in the tank with Ric and will help him overcome this injusticia.  Viewerville has flashbacks of the Brady Bunch ala Mexico, now all grown up and legal beagles for Firm Vega, El Justiciero.  Visions of viewing the Brady Bunch's Mexican cousins: The Vega Family on the legal march for one of its own.  “--One for all and all for one!!”—Oooops.  Sorry, that’s a different vision and the next country over, and a few centuries in the past.

Well, were all hoping Olivia would shut Lascivious Letti down with a pot calling the kettle black or blacker remark..... ("Patience, Grasshopper").  We are sorely disappointed.  Ric leaves the meeting room and lunch with an empty stomach  cuz he's no longer fit for fraternizing, but with a big blessing from Juanito's mamacita which in these things counts for something.

Carlos gets the call that the restraining order has just been delivered and witnessed by the whole law firm. He calls Vexlena to give her the great news.   No more problemas.  Shucks!  So what next to make Ric and Ale's life more miserable day to day after this??  How can she top this one?  The best of all is that it’s free of charge.  Carlos enjoyed the opportunity to screw over Ric so much he won’t charge her.  She remains in good hands with Carlos.  She's a beloved friend of his now.

Exlena admits to Letti it was her plan all along to make Alejandra rue the day she interfered in her family.  Carlos Ibarra is now Elena's Black knight in perhaps somewhat rusted armor.....but a knight is a knight is a knight, right?

Back at the meeting room luncheon adoption proceedings are suggested since Ric's not the bio daddy.  Perhaps a psych exam for the Drama Queen?  Again, I say check her garbage and start counting the number of empty tequila bottles.

Jaime brings Ale home at the end of the workday.  Paula and posse are off to dinner together.

Jaime counsels Ale on how difficult it can be to find the right life mate, which, after divorcing Paula, puts more than a bit of credence to this life-coaching aphorism…..  In other words, it’s right even if it’s trite.

Ric makes a late evening call to his vex and warns her when she says the restraining order is iron clad she may think so but he didn’t spend all that time in late night law school classes to sit on his keister and kvetch to himself.   She's been warned.  Click!

Juan gets home but has to go out again.  He's waiting to set a trap for Patricia's ex, Pedro.  He'll walk Fer home.  But Mama, please don't make those homespun, embarrassing speeches on his behalf in front of Vega again?????

Meanwhile out carousing, Paula's posse of puerile, plutocrat gal-pals accept a round of drinks from some 20-30 somethings at the bar who all are apparently suffering from a bad mommy complex or, as Viewerville suspects, are a group of gigolo jive buddies looking to score.  Paula and her posse--or should I say, she and her fifty-something friends--have just been lured in and these fifties' nifties fish fall for Jive Buddies' flirtatious lines fish-hook and stinker.

Jaime advises Ale not to jump from the frying pan of romance into the fire of rebounds so quickly after such an emotional fricasseeing with Carlos.

Mi Johnnie, later that night, enters the strip club and Tatiana immediately races over to tell him how scared she feels and cover him with kisses and hugs.  She thinks she might be being stalked--leastwise, that's how it seems and what she's most afraid of since she's got her son to protect and all.  I guess gated apartment complexes in Mexico aren’t what they used to be when it comes to conniving stalker types.....

Back at Ladies' Night Out at the club, lead Gigolo Dude suggests they finish this Gigolo Jive party at his apartment.  Paula and the gals turn him down flat, we assume, and they all share a bottle of champagne together, courtesy of Paula.

Next morning, Pilar stares a Vicente while waiting for the trial to begin.  He looks like a wounded puppy and she looks like a momma bear ready to tear his throat out.  Carlos opens to say he'll prove it was Vicente who committed murder and attempted a second.  Vicente's Lady Lawyer states for the record that her client has cooperated with the authorities in all ways.  Carlos jumps up and says that obviously he had no choice!!  He's shot down.  Lady Lawyer says she'll prove (not that much proof is ever delivered in these things) that it actually was Imelda who did the damnable deed!!  Sra. Pilar goes wild and has to be restrained by Carlos.

in her kitchen, pained Paula is now suffering from a hell of a hangover.  Ale medicates and then informs Mama that Exlena had the court put a restraining order on Ric so he cannot see the children anymore.  Paula wisely replies that it's not Ale's fault.  The woman's crazy.  Yup, says Ale, but she's never going to stop and recognize that for Ric, more than ever, it's over.

Sofia comes to the judge that just adjudicated Alexa's case with some interesting facts regarding a couple more suspects to add to the Ibarra trial.  And, she asks this judge to take the case over.

At the murder trial, Carlos is continuing to present his case when Lady Lawyer breaks out in numerous guffaws and has to be silenced.  (Hey, there's no jury, so why disrupt the courtroom this way? It's certain she's ain't winning any points with the judge.)  Carlos continues his opening remarks. Then Lady Lawyer jumps up with the motive for Imelda's murderous actions: revenge against Mama who'd been having sexual relations with her boyfriend!! (Dun-dun-dun-dunnnn!) Sra. Pilar makes an even worse scene while all the Jerry Springer fans in Viewerville jump for joy screaming  "--I told ya so!"  Again,  the aggrieved mother, Sra. Pilar, causes so much havoc in the courtroom screaming at the judge and then at Vicente she must be restrained and carried back to her seat by Carlos.  (This begs the question: where the hell are the sheriff's deputies and the court orderlies during all of this?  Strangely, they are absent).

Laughing Lady Lawyer asks why Carlos Ibarra is complaining?  He wanted a motive and she's given it.  The judge wants it substantiated.  Ooops.  No, she doesn't have all the facts yet, but hey, why not let her client out for lack of evidence against him the same way Sr. Ibarra was let go?

Carlos is allowing himself to be provoked by the competition warns Alan. He must calm down before he's in contempt or whatever the equivalent might be..... Carlos starts afresh.  He, your honor, was made to stay in jail until all available evidence and arguments were presented.  He's only asking the same for the accused: to be held in the way the law dictates.

Back at Vega, Victoria speaks with Plutarco and tells him the gawd awful truth: his son has not the least bit of interest in helping him financially.  There's nothing left to do but sue the Loro Piana right off him.  Poor dude, you gave birth to a bad seed and that's that.  Ain't purdy, but there's nothing to be done for it.

The judge finally puts us out of our misery and rules to keep Vicente behind bars through the conclusion of the evidential trial.  Carlos afterward talks to Lady Lawyer and asks her what her problem is.  She replies that if he doesn't know all the secrets of the Pilar family that is not her problem.  He doesn't care, he boasts.  Vicente will stay behind bars for the rest of his miserable life!  "--We'll see about that!"

Imelda sobs as Vic's lawyer exits the courtroom.  Carlos comes over to tell her to ignore her remarks.  Vic's not ever gonna see daylight again.

After Vicki assures Plutarco that his stingy mean son will eventually see the error of his ways --after the court gets done with him or before?

Carlos Camera Hog races over to the press to say that the hearing came out the way he wanted it to, that's Vic's lawyer is twisting the truth to benefit herself, and that there's not a smidgen of proof that his young, grieving client had any motive whatsoever to have done what Vic and his lawyer claimed. They are going through a trauma no family should have to, BTW, so (even though you don’t know how as the principle is not a part of the press's ethos ) please be respectful of their pain.

Later that morning, Ale pays a surprise visit to Exlena's home "to talk".

Oli is researching Mexican adoption law and kindly reads out loud the important part for benefit of the uninformed tn fans in the crowd when Leonardo comes in to request a favor. She tells him she's in the middle of checking up on adoption law to help Ric out. He then notices the plant Alan sent and asks about it.  She states it's from a nice guy who she's gone out with once but who seems proper enough.  He holds her hand and reminds her not to be so naive again.  Yep.  He gets up and is leaving when she asks what he wanted.  "--Oh, just to ask a bit of help with Ric's case, but you're already at it so that's fine.  See ya later, gator."

Ale tries talking sense to Vexlena about what she's doing to her children by trying to manipulate them to get even with Ricardo.  Vex denies it all and asks what would Ale know since she's not a mother.  Don't need to be one to understand manipulation and how she's using her kids to manipulate Ric, Ali retorts.  Exlena knows full well that Ric loves her children, despite it’s being over between the two of them.  Elena jumps on that truth like it’s ants invading her picnic.  "--Yes, they're my children and it's none of your business, so stick your nose out of it!  Besides what would you have done if that whore Carlos slept with came and asked pardon for Carlos's sleeping with her?"  Not the same thing, says Ale.  "--Oh really?  Well the only way Ric'll ever see those kids again is if you leave him!!" (--aaaaaand there it is!) Ale looks like she's thinking to do just that, although most women would tell Vexlena to suck it up and get a load of the real world vision, but we're dealing with a TN heroin and they all suffer from a martyr complex, so we're in for a painful stint of self-sacrifice and denial.  But on the other hand, Ale will have a good amount of time to heal those chapped lips of hers.

Jardinera: Good Job!

Good morning Jardinera...have been looking forward to your snappy recap all morning (can you tell how much I hate cleaning bathrooms and doing laundry?)

A Very Vega Vision vitiating Vexlena's new found legal strategy.

More fun with alliteration! and yes, the bufete sure acts like the Brady Bunch, or a passel of noble Scouts all sticking up for each other (with exception of our adulterous couple of course). Pretty unrealistic as Irene always points out.

Also liked your characterization of Carlos as Elena's "Black Knight in perhaps somewhat rusted armor". Jaime's counsel "It's right even if it's trite." and "Elena jumps on that truth like it's ants invading her picnic."

Great style, lady.

Now, was anyone else nervous when the AARP trio was out boozing and those young guys moved in? With all the trumpeting about violence against women I was afraid our sadder but wiser gals were going to get seriously roughed up. But nothing worse than a hangover. (although for me there's nothing worse than a hangover)

My other question is...Is our Leonardo beginning to develop tender feelings for Olivia. He seemed flummoxed by the flowers and the tale of her new beau and held onto her hands longer than even clingy Olivia wanted. Could be a new development, no?

The actress playing the lawyer defending Vicente seems to be channeling the American lawyer (whose name escapes me) who represented the Menendez brothers in their trial...Gloria Somebody? Same sort of Bette Midler grandstanding. But I enjoyed seeing her get Carlos' dander up.

Fun recap. Interesting episode. Thanks Jardinera.

Sorry, Aldredge or her daughter Lisa something?

hanks. Went back to clean up the grammar and get it readable. Have to be hung over to read it through this first draft. ; > )) Anyway, yeah, I believe the women talked about the dangerous types one might come across these days in a bar. Right then the gigalos send over drinks. We don't know what happened to Paula's two friends do we????
==============

Judy, do you mean Aldredge?

AFinally checked Jardinera654...It’s Gloria Allred. Quite the gal in the courtroom.
JudyB on my iPad

Thanks, Jardinera! A lovely lilting libretto to our operatic plot turnings. And with your tongue firmly planted in your cheek the whole time. ;}

JudyB, I too was on the edge of my seat through the whole May-December flirtfest. I thought, don't those gals know better? But apparently they do (just not when it comes to champagne.)

Good evening Jardinera, I been looking Forward to the Recap.I just want to know what ally and loonylena were saying. They Aren't done yet. Now that we know the kiddos Are Collateral damage it's bout to get nasty up in here. She don't give a dam About Those babys,it's all about mom Stickin it to dad for daring to be happy and lovin somebody else. Ain't she a Bitch? Ally take off your nice girl drawers and put on some fighting girl boxers.
Shes gonna annoy us and sacrifice her love. What a load of bull. Some of this stuff They do for affect is sickening. Some Women would have bitchslapped her all Over her own house and shown her the light. But this is show business, so we deal.
"Carlos is now Elena's black knight in perhaps rusty armor------a knight is a knight is a knight. right?" Naaah. Not this time. He's a fallin night. And he
Got some more falling to do.

Vega & Associates do not need to be helpin rick with this case. Lettie is
Going to be spying her skanky butt off gettin imfo to loonylena. they won a big case now they need to come back down out of the clouds before they do some stupid stuff.

The Geritol gang had a night out with the young pups. I'm glad they didn't get into any kind of trouble because I do not want to sit through another trial of stupidness. 3 old biddies in
Court suing hot young gigolos or(they looked like law students to me) cuz they had their way with them while they were pickled.

Thank you Jardinera, another good one.

Thanks, Jardinera. Love the illusions to Vega as the Brady Bunch.

Hoping against hope that those Excellent Family Lawyers Ric and Ale really bring it to Vexlena and give me something to root for. If Ale does that self-sacrifice thing, I’m sooooo done with her.

I too was afraid Paula and her posse would get a credit card snatched, a car stolen, a drunken roll in the hay -- but got nothing but Paula's hangover. I don't get the point. Was that product placement for the bar?

Great work, Jardinera. All points covered.

The Cougars: You took those words right off my keyboard. Those guys have to be gigolos on the make. Good thing that Paula and her friends are smart enough to see that.

Why did Carlos have to get the most interesting case in this series? He's definitely looking like he does suspect Imelda. Vicente's lawyer is is crazy and Pilar's outburst in the courtroom definitely lends credence to the accusation that she got it on with Vicente. The press will be all over this and Carlos is talking too much.

Ricardo should not have called Vexlena and Alejandra should not have gone to see her. The only good that will come of that meeting is Alejandra realizing that Vexlena is bat***t crazy.

Jardinera, thank you for another great recap. Your humorous take on the boring events of this episode is highly appreciated.

You were on fire today and it's hard to pick favorites out of that many great lines, but the following are the best of the best in my opinion:

"Ric leaves the meeting room and lunch with an empty stomach cuz he's no longer fit for fraternizing, but with a big blessing from Juanito's mamacita which in these things counts for something."
"Carlos Ibarra is now Elena's Black knight in perhaps somewhat rusted armor.....but a knight is a knight is a knight, right?"
"it’s right even if it’s trite"
" he didn’t spend all that time in late night law school classes to sit on his keister an kvetch to himself"
"Paula's posse of puerile, plutocrat gal-pals"
"Sra. Pilar makes an even worse scene while all the Jerry Springer fans in Viewerville jump for joy screaming "--I told ya so!"

I found this episode quite boring. A lot of different plots but nothing important happened until the last minute. Even my hope that things will get more exciting because surely the biddies are going to meet some grim fate at the hands of these gigolos were cruelly dashed when they lived to gossip and do nothing another day.

I totally agree with Urban that Alejandra had nothing to do at this nutcase's apartment. What did she think, that this fruitcake would hear her out, tearfully admit how wrong she was about the everything, lift the restraining order and they all would live happily ever after? It's obvious to any person with at least a couple of functioning brain cells(unfortunately Alejandra doesn't pertain to this category) that the only thing she would achieve by her visit is antagonizing and pissing off Vexlena even more and making things worse.

Irene

Thanks again for stopping by🤗

Vexlena gives all women a bad rep with her insanity. If this case were to go to court...

Tonight's will be a little late; I was visiting my friend in the hospital today.

I am not even going to comment about this absurd murder trial led by a defense attorney who is representing a possible suspect of this murder. Surely the fact that Imelda is a suspect herself should preclude her lawyer, who is not impartial, from prosecuting Vicente?
But I give up, I am out of beanies at this point and am close to needing a straight jacket even more than this maniacally laughing defense attorney that is surely unfit to practice law.

And I don't even have words about Sonia the prosecutor forum shopping* in the middle of the trial.
No, PASL writers, a prosecutor cannot just go to another judge if he doesn't like the one to whom the case is assigned.
Sometimes, prosecutors or defense attorneys try to get their case assigned to a judge that would be more sympathetic to their cause, but once the judge has been assigned and started hearing the case, there is no way to substitute him by another one (unless he is dead or incapacitated).
You can't just replace a judge by one that fits you better, as you would with a piece of loosely fitting clothing and I can't believe that PASL writers don't understand this simple truth.

Irene

*attempts by litigants to have their legal case heard in the court thought most likely to provide a favorable judgment.

For Carlos posting that restraining order against Ric, I wonder if the firm will be less enthusiastic about his defense in the murder case. Nahhhhh!

It will be interesting to see what happens when they find out. Ricardo and Alejandra will know his motive for doing this and legally this should constitute a conflict of interest because Roberto and Leonardo are representing him in his own case. That should be grounds for dropping him as a client, but I don't know whether it is or not.
