Por Amar Sin Ley, 5/7/18 Chapter 45 Lunes: Parents

Chapter 45: Parents
I'm Christopher Mason. Parents, whether rich or poor or whatever age, both have and create problems. In our stories today we see several examples of parents whose children have created or are resolving problems for them. Some have higher stakes than others.
  • Carlos took his leave of Alejandra and Victoria. After he was out the door Victoria siad she didn't want to be a gossip but she had heard that all was well between her and Carlos and this was why she and Ricardo were so distant. Alejandra corrected that, saying that all was not well and that for the moment she wanted nothing to do with men.
  • Benjamín told Leticia she was insane for not caring about whether their affair became public. She told him she wasn't crazy because she had nothing to lose. He argued, with many accusing gestures, that she had agreed to his terms from the outset. However, she said this was predicated on him eventually leaving his wife. He sputtered some nonsense and walked out.
    She enjoyed his discomposure.
  • Actually, considering that Benjamín often showed such contempt for his wife, she should remember this conversation.
  • Alejandra told Victoria that both men had broken her heart and she knew she had to go on without them. She would cry no more for either of them.
  • In Ricardo's presence, Alexa and Hugo signed the depositions in the police station. The next step was for her to see the doctor. She didn't want to. She cried. Ricardo told her that this would be very brief and it was necessary for justice to be done. She was afraid this would not work. Ricardo told her that he understood her feelings in view of what had happened to her and that there were too many people who were too afraid to do what she was now doing. But he kept on fighting for justice anyway. When there is a just sentence, it was all worth it. The detective came back into the room with the doctor, who escorted Alexa to the examining room. Hugo thanked Ricardo, who told him that he didn't need to. He thought twice about such situations every time he encountered them because he had a daughter, too.
  • Juan went to Tatiana's building and rang her bell. There was no answer so he decided to wait on the doorstep, wondering when – and if – she would show up.
  • Ricardo and Hugo continued to talk. Hugo knew that his daughter's life would not be the same after this, nor would his or his family's. Ricardo knew he was right but told him that his help was the most important thing in her life right then. Hugo wasn't sure he could find the strength for this. That his brother could raise his son to become the worst of human beings defied his understanding. He never wanted to see him again.
At this inauspicious time Elena called Ricardo saying that the children missed him.
He explained that he had a delicate case and while Elena at least had the grace to express horror at his description of it and that he had the power to get the criminals arrested. She reminded him again that the children missed him.
She said he could call if he needed help before she ended the call, satisfied that she had taken another step in her nasty little master plan to lure him back into her web.
  • Tatiana finally arrived at her building but ran when she saw Juan. She was obviosuly afraid to talk to him. She accused him of stalking. He told her he only wanted to talk to her and she told him to leave and not come back. He told her he was trying to find out who killed her friend. She was determined to believe that Carlos was the guilty man. She threatened to call the police if he didn't stop bothering her. She ran back toward her building's entrance but Juan caught up closely behind her.
  • Olivia went into Victoria's office and told her what she had seen in Leticia's. Victoria was not surprised, saying she had always suspected something going on between Leticia and Benjamín. Olivia pointed out that Benjamín had always talked about his wife and his son and Victoria said that men like him were the worst kind. This was why she was determined never to fall in love. And now Alejandra had joined her ranks. Olivia couldn't quite believe it, but Victoria told her that Alejandra was a good woman and didn't deserve to suffer because of any man.
  • Juan told Tatiana that if she wanted to call the police she was free to do so. He was not trying to convince her that Carlos didn't do the crime; he was only looking for the truth. She insisted that he had done it. He then asked why, therefore, has he gone free? Of course, her answer was that money had bought his freedom. Juan told her that he was interested in finding out who killed her friend. Carlos didn't have a motive, so who did? He wanted to help her. When he said that he knew her child was sick she attacked him like a wild animal, demanding to know who told him that. He did not reveal his source; he merely told her to calm down.
  • Eleanor of Aquitaine would have been proud of Elena that day.
  • Elena went on the offensive once again bringing the children to Ricardo's office. He found them there when he returned from the police station. This was Elena marking her territory more than it was bringing the children to see their father. She closed the office door and watched Ricardo's every expression as Federico took a group selfie of himself, Natalia, and their dad. Elena talked about how it was good for him to see the children in view of the case he was working on at the moment.
When he thanked her for bringing them she wore a smile of such self-satisfaction that she was praising her own cleverness.
  • Alejandra showed the revised settlement to Gustavo; he agreed with it. He was still in pain. Alejandra explained she had witnessed this with her parents so she understood. She saw that he was sad, possibly depressed.
  • Juan explained that he was new at Vega & Associates and it was his duty to investigate everything. He had to talk to her to get to the truth and he was willing to help her.
  • Out in the reception area Alejandra handed Isabel's divorce settlement papers to Carmen and requested two copies. When she turned around Ricardo appeared with his children and Elena, who was in her glory gloating at running into Alejandra under these circumstances. She had obviously planned this. Both children hugged Alejandra and were heading to the elevator when Ricardo called them back to greet Carmen, who was just as happy to see them. Elena rubbed it in by saying that she thought that because of this case. Alejandra said briefly that it was a case that was both ugly and complicated.
“Some things never change,” Elena said. “The only thing Ricardo needs to feel better is to be with us.”
“That is well,” said Alejandra, with a smile. “It is a big help.”
“It's the least we can do. Ah, but you have Carlos. Really, it's good to have someone to share your life with.”
“Of course. Well, I have to go. I have much work to do.”
“It's always a pleasure to see you,” said Elena with a smirk.
Alejandra turned around to say goodbye to the kids, who hugged her before joining their mother. Ricardo said he would see them down to the car.

  • Juan finally got Tatiana to agree to talk. She told him that her son had been in the hospital for a week. He told her he would help; his friend's father was a doctor. He promised to help even if she didn't say a word about Patricia.
  • Ricardo escorted Elena and the children to the parking lot. He kissed the children and they headed to the car Elena went through one of her gratitude speeches and offers to help. He thanked her, she kissed him, and went to her car. It looked as though he was weakening.
  • Juan asked Tatiana again if she would help. She said no, that she could not help people who got Carlos Ibarra out of jail. Juan told her that if he did the crime they would prove it. He had not been declared innocent and they were interested in proof. If she didn't tell him anything he couldn't help. She thought about that for a moment then said he would need to help her first. He agreed and asked for her son's name and what hospital he was in. He took down the information and told her she didn't have to tell him anything if she didn't trust him but he swore he would do whatever it took.
  • When Alejandra arrived at home that evening she was rather down in the mouth. She told her mother that she obviously had to have meant nothing to Ricardo because it appeared that he was very happy with his family and that he would shortly be getting back with Elena. All she could hope for was to live for her work. Paula had questioned this throughout.
  • While Susanna prepared dinner Juan called Robert for help regarding Tatiana's son.
  • Some parents certainly are excellent predictors of their children's ways.
  • The following morning Roberto visited his father at the retirement home. He talked with an orderly who told him that the women complained about his father. He had been getting calls from the families of the other residents. Roberto said he would talk to his father. He was warned that if this was not effective his father would be expelled from the community.
  • Leonardo went to the courthouse to discuss the case with Sonia. He needed to expedite the case because the rapists came from rich families who could either buy influence or help them escape. She told him he needed to report this to the police. She had already reviewed the case and knew the sick, twisted details. She agreed to help.
  • Roberto found his father regaling a tale of a romantic trip to Paris which ended him with kissing his ladylove on the top of the Eiffel Tower. In his audience were four ladies – most likely widows – who all flirted with him and he flirted with them in return, kissing their hands. Roberto called his father, who then hugged him and presented him to the ladies. They all commented on how handsome Roberto was. He kissed their hands and told them they were lovely, showing that he was very much his father's son. He then asked them to excuse his father because he needed to speak privately with him. After the usual “Why haven't you come to see me”s and Roberto's “I've had a lot of work to do” he asked his father why he didn't move in with him.
  • Had Roberto even considered the possibility that having his father live with him could seriously cramp his style?
  • Sonia gave Leonardo some information she wouldn't have if the case hadn't been so important. The case will be heard by Judge Marrufo. Leonardo thanked her and she said he didn't have to; she was glad he took this case. She only asked one thing of him, which was to be very tough. “Violence against women has to stop now,” she said. He promised he would, shook her hand, and left.
  • Judge Marrufo was the same one who had sentenced a young rape victim to six years for murder. Since he had been seen with Carlos Ibarra Leonardo will need to tread carefully.
  • Dr. Morelli turned down his son's offer, saying he didn't want to be alone. He was happy where he was. Roberto got to the point and told him that some women had complained about him. His father didn't believe this but ultimately told him that one complained about him because he had ignored her.
  • Tatiana spoke to the doctor at the children's clinic who told her that her son's condition was serious but the new treatment will be effective. He would need to stay a week in the hospital and take medication after his release. It would be slow, but he would be cured. She immediately became worried about the cost, but the doctor gave her even better news, which was that the bill was already fully paid.... by Juan Lopez, Esq.
Everything was paid for and little Tomás would be well.
  • Carlos and Alan talked about El Ciego's case. Carlos had his documents in order and he had witnesses to call.
  • Roberto's father insisted that he did not entertain women in his room or do anything else to offend any of them.
  • Tatiana signed the relevant documents at the hospital and kissed Juan when he appeared, asking about her son. She told him she would pay back every peso. He told her she didn't have to because he was a man of his word.
  • Roberto's father promised the orderly to be more careful, although Roberto was not entirely sure he would keep his word. He made one last offer to his father to move in with him, but was turned down again.
  • Carlos Ibarra probably should invest in some asbestos suits because he was dealing with the devil.
  • Carlos visited El Ciego in the prison to tell him they had a court date. He didn't ask when it was and all he seemed interested in is when he was getting out, saying there would be serious problems if he didn't get out. Carlos told him not to worry, then took out some papers for him to sign. El Ciego looked at them superficially as he took a drag on his cigarette. He seemed pleased.
  • Gustavo was nervous and Alejandra was concerned as they waited for Isabel to come to the office. She arrived and the atmosphere became awkward. They sat down and Alejandra began by stating the purpose of the meeting and telling them that it was very important that they agree. Gustavo and Isabel looked at each other across the table. It was plain that both were in pain. She then began reading the document.
  • Carlos instructed his client about how to behave before the judge. He was to keep a cool head at all times and to wait for him to object to any question meant to provoke his temper. El Ciego laughed at the idea of himself losing his cool. He agreed to all of Carlos' instructions and they shook hands before Carlos left. However, there was something in the client's attitude that he didn't seem to notice.
  • Alejandra finished reading the document, then handed it to Isabel along with a pen. She was crying Gustavo touched her hand before she could sign.
He cried as he begged her forgiveness, for he knew this was his last opportunity.

Parents can be saviors. They can also be puppetmasters. They do whatever they think they need to do either to protect – or to use – their children. There will be more of this to come. Until we meet again Behind Mansion Walls, I'm Christopher Mason.

What a spectacular recap!!!. Everything was so enjoyable to read and your posting flowed with perfection.

Your screenshots were taken at exactly the right instant to catch someone with an expression we might have missed during the first go around.

I was lucky in discovering that I didn't need Photobucket to provide screen shots to this blog. In fact, uploading them to the blog directly takes a lot less time than it did to post them to Photobucket and then individually copying and pasting them one by one.

The actress playing Tatiana looks like a younger sister of Edith Gonzales, whom I miss terribly since she left Televisa.

Fortunately a lot was going on in this episode and we finally met someone else's father.

More later.

UA: Good recap!

Victoria: Elena better get an anvil.

I hope Juan didn't spend his first paycheck on those medical bills. I hope it was Roberto who did that and that they can bill this back to Carlos.

Unfortunately for Ricardo and his future significant other, Elena is technically part of his life until the kids reach 18. I don't see how, just because the two exes are getting along, Alejandra automatically assumes they're back together. She knows Elena wants Ricardo back, so she should be deducting that Elena is using the kids. But Alejandra should really take a good look at herself cause she's moving along fine with Carlos, giving off the wrong impression to everyone (even without Carlos' lies). Tired of hearing that pot calling the kettle black.

Thanks, Urban. Fine recap. I particularly liked Christopher Mason's closing comment.

Hmmm, looks like Juan may have a new admirer. He's no doubt a prince in Tatiana's eyes now.

Can't figure out El Ciego and those shades don't help.

Time for the Ale-Ric story to move along. Enough with Elena feeling like she's making progress. Don't those kids go to school? Why are they always available to visit the office in the daytime? Does Ric not realize he can spend some time with his kids without Elena always tagging along?

URBAN--I'll be back after I read the recap. Can't wait.

However, I have to answer Nina's question from last night, first.

NINA asked--"Did Olivia really ask Gus to be sperm
Doner for her egg?I missed that scene?
Seems to me she'd want to keep that her secret about wanting a baby"

No she did not directly ask, but in the scene between the two of them, she kept piling on the praise for his being such a good father that anyone would want him to be a father to his progeny. At this point she was polling her colleagues on what they thought about having a baby without a father. The way she was looking at him, the Patio wondered if she was actually considering him. Fortunately, so far, she isn't. And, no, she didn't keep it a secret, at least not from a select group she asked, including Vicky and Letty.

Oh and one more thing. Last night in the very last scene, when Gus was sitting, talking to Ale alone and waiting for Isy, before Gus started blubbering, Sergio gave us an exemplary image of him as a really nice, decent galan back in the olden days, when he was paired with Silvia Navarro in several tns. But my, have we ever come a long way in terms of storylines. Those were the "innocent" days before we were exposed to so many difficult interpersonal relationships that wouldn't have been discussed so openly then.

Anita, I thought Sergio did a good job last night, with his quiet sadness as he watched Isabel crying uncontrollably over the divorce papers. This is my first time seeing the actor in a TN.

Niecie--If you can find it anywhere, check him out on Cuando Seas Mia (the refrito of Café con Aroma de Mujer and the precursor of Destilando Amor). He has that indecisive, reluctant hero act down pat.

Wow UA. Another great one with terrific screenshots and a nice unifying theme of the impact of parents--both for good and for ill. All in the arch tones of Christopher Mason.

"When he thanked her for bringing them she wore a smile of such self-satisfaction that she was praising her own cleverness."

Oh my, the actress portraying Elena does a great job of earning our distaste. So much so that when I saw a shot of her weeping in an ad for a female talk show, I immediately felt repulsed. So easy to build a bias!

Actually, it's possible that the character Elena was a little perturbed by how affectionately her children hugged Alejandra. Happy Families Routine notwithstanding, it's clear the little ones like our protagonista as well.

Superb job UA. Thanks.

OK, URBAN--Terrific recap, almost a graphic novela with Christopher interspersed in the tale as Alastair Cook was on Masterpiece Theatre. Love his collection of bow-ties.

Another Sorti alum I might mention: Alfredo Adame (Hugo) was briefly a P.I. who came to the house after Maria Jose was "kidnapped" and they expected the kidnappers to call and ask for money.

Someone asked earlier who Roberto's father was going to be. It's Alejandro Tommasi, a central character in Fuerza del Destino (and many other tns). My first impression of Rob's father was that he did NOT pass on his fashion sense to his son.

Speaking of fashions, what did you all think of Ale's black and white outfit in the last scenes? It came across to me--if they had added a couple of horizontal stripes--as Morticia dressed up as a skeleton for El Dia de los Muertos.

Love me some Vicky. She's clearly the best character in the whole show. No nonsense, take no prisoners, yet caring when dispensing practical advice.

I'm getting tired of every single case being about "Justice," and hearing them repeat it ad nauseam. We get it (aside from the income....).

Urban, what a masterfully crafted recap! I am amazed how you always manage to find a common theme that runs through the episode. And the screen grabs are superb.

Anita, I never saw a telenovela with Sergio Basañes in it before PASL, so had to see what you are talking about. I checked his photos and was shocked at how amazingly handsome he was and now I want to binge-watch all of his old telenovelas. There are photos of him shirtless with long hair looking so manly and gorgeous that I had to check twice to be sure it is the same actor playing Gustavo.

Irene

Anita, you are so right about the latest horror Alejandra is wearing. Skeleton came to my mind too when I saw her.

By the way, did you notice the abomination Isabel was wearing? Who on earth would wear a multicolored striped shirt with half-transparent floral tights? It's as if the person responsible for dressing them closes her eyes, reaches into a closet and whatever is pulled out is what the character is going to wear.

Irene

And could someone explain to me why Vega and Associates, a tiny law firm with only 10 lawyers, needs three receptionists and why they all wear those pink uniforms that look like something a maid in a classic telenovela would wear?
And are they actually paid to look adoringly at shoes all day long? Because if they are not, then I can't understand why Alejandra walked past those three collectively salivating over a quite vulgar pink shoe and asked Carmen, who was actually making an effort to look as if she is working, to make two photocopies for her?

Irene

Some random thoughts about this episode:

-I think Alba, the woman that wants Rob's dad thrown out of the nursing home is his "Victoria", i.e the only woman on whom his charm doesn't work.
-The top-knot prosecutor said to Leo "como hubiera querido que me tocara a mi el caso", which logically means (or at least should mean) that this case is going to be prosecuted by a real prosecutor.
- Juanito just tainted Tatiana's testimony by paying for her son's treatment. Even if whatever she has to say is all true and can contribute to proving Carlos' innocence, the most inept prosecutor will manage to cast doubts as to her testimony because a monetary benefit is involved.

Irene

I thought Leo was prosecuting the case, because the prosecutor was telling him to get them convicted and jailed for many years?

Shouldn't Alexa's father have gone immediately to the police so that a prosecutor can be doing everything that Leo and Ricardo are currently doing in that case? Including the extradition stuff? Or is it common for victims to get a private lawyer prior to going to the precinct? This seems like it worked backwards. The ones who should have consulted a lawyer immediately were the rapists.

Anon1146

Anon 1146, I really don't know what to think anymore. You are probably right, she did say that she wants Leo to make the rapists pay, which means he once again will act as a prosecutor. But what she said before that implies that one of the other prosecutors got the case, so the writers really have no idea what they are doing and here goes my hope of finally seeing FC play a competent but virile prosecutor.

In a real case, the only role a criminal defense attorney can have in such a situation is of victim's advocate, to make sure that the investigation is done correctly, and the laws and victim's rights respected. Nothing more than that.
A defense attorney certainly doesn't suddenly get prosecutorial powers just because he took upon himself the role of victim's advocate.

The location of the criminal is handled by the police .They liaise with the police of the country in which the criminal took refuge and get the Interpol involved only if the whereabouts of the criminal are unknown (in which case the Interpol will put the criminal on a list of wanted persons).

When the criminal is found, the Justice department of the requesting country will forward an extradition request to the Justice Department of the country where the criminal is hiding.

If the criminal is found in a country that has an extradition agreement with the requesting country, then he can be extradited (however, there are certain circumstances that bar extradition even if there is an extradition agreement, such as double nationality(the criminal is both national of the requesting country and the country to where he fled), no dual criminality (the crime is only a crime in the requesting country), political nature of crime, certain forms of punishment in the requesting country (such as death penalty or torture) and more). If there is an extradition agreement but the criminal opposes the extradition, then there will be a hearing in the country in which the criminal was caught. It's different in every country, but generally the criminal has his own attorney and the stance of the country in which the criminal was caught is represented by either a prosecutor or a special lawyer from the department of justice or the department of foreign affairs. A judge then decides whether to extradite.

If the country doesn't have an extradition agreement, it doesn't mean that the criminal will not be extradited, it just means that the decision to extradite is at the discretion of the country in which the criminal was caught. This country might actually authorize an extradition, often subjecting the requesting country to a reciprocity assurance.

In any case, the victim's advocate doesn't have any influence as far as extraditions are concerned.

Irene

I think Alejandra is becoming insecure about her own ability to assess character after Carlos' infidelity. She sees other women as competition no matter the original circumstance, she is not yet aware of what BS Carlos has been handing to others about their relationship, and nobody is asking direct questions except Victoria who doesn't have a dog in this fight.

Let's not also forget that Elena is doing exactly the same thing as Carlos.

Irene, thanks for the response. I keep wondering why the producers don't use prosecutors in this novela. They can constantly change up the prosecutors the same way they change up the clients. I keep waiting to see the big galanes, but so far it seems like they might not bring them in.

I keep wondering why Victoria is interested in knowing details about Alejandra and Carlos, yet she doesn't tell Ricardo anything. Everyone gossips in that office, why don't they gossip about this?

Alejandra has been getting annoying, almost at levels of Olivia. I don't know if it's really the character or the way the actress portrays her too. In Lo Imperdonable, I didn't like her as Veronica either because she was supposed to be a smart, resourceful and independent woman, but she was so incredibly naïve and forgiving when it came to Martin.

Anon1146

Urban, good recap. Parents and their
Children, children and their parents.
Interesting scenario.

I'm really tired of hearing ally whine
About how hurt she is by these men.
Only one man really hurt her and thats
The Devil in a suit, Carlos. Now The only thing rick has done is not speak up And that out of him respecting her
Space. Now look, granted should he have spoken up? Yes.But so should she have
More so. Cuz she is the one that go cheated on. This man was walking his behind down and isle in the church on her wedding day and he was going to stand there before God and man and declared his undying love to her after he done got out the bed with a hooker the night before and left her dead in the bed. She should have been the one to speak up and say it: look you lied to me you cheated on me and I don't know how many other times you cheated on me and lied to me, you cannot come out of prison trying to put your lips on me trying to hold my hand trying to "mi amor" me all over the place, I am done with you. This Man embarrassed her in front of every body. don't care if he didn't kill Patricia he cheated and he got caught in church in front of everybody. she need to shut up whining about rick hurting her and she should have spoken up to Carlos. And now Rick is about to get sucked back into that black widows Web of Lies using her babies to suck him in. That screenshot of ally makes Her look like she's as high as a kite.

I done even care about Leticia & benji
They're are not that interesting.

Me thinks that pretty neighbor girl is
Gonna have some competition with Juan.
The dancer is gonna be very very very
Greatful.

"Carlos Ybarra should probably invest in some asbestos suits because he is dealing with the Devil". Carlos is the
Devil, can't you see those evil horns peaking?

That was a sad scene with gus and isa.
This man had no sane reason to do what he did, and it cost him everything to eat the forbidden fruit. And now he Knows it was bitter disguised as something sweet. When are people gonna
Learn?

About that examination of Alexa at the hospital, okay when she was raped she was in the hospital didn't they do a rape kit at the hospital? and what is it exactly that they're examining here for because if she had a shower the evidence is probably been washed off. Is this another one of those legal faux pas they're doing in this show that Irene sometimes have to explain to us? Even I noticed you have to get a rape kit done at the hospital. What gives Irene? Did I miss something?

Thank you Urban. As usual you hit a homerun. Kudos to you too Mr. Mason.

Anon 1146, I don't get it either. They have prosecutors in PASL universe, only they are there only to show how good our lawyers are at beating them. The writers are also terribly inconsistent: sometimes there are prosecutors prosecuting a murder, and sometimes it's lawyers from Vega and Associates. I guess it's because otherwise they won't have enough cases for Vega and Associates to handle.

I gave up on Alejandra long ago. She is so malleable, indecisive and outright dumb when her personal life is concerned. It's terribly annoying that a smart and competent lawyer would behave this way.

Olivia, though, is way worse than Alejandra. She tries to appear as a good and ethical lawyer when in reality she is a terrible hypocrite. At least Leticia is honest and direct.
I can't stand how Olivia didn't say anything to the deodorant client about his case being a losing one (and she even encouraged him by asking him to bring all the necessary receipts) but after he left she said to Leticia that the case is hopeless and she will look ridiculous presenting it to the judge.
Urban said that there was probably a disclaimer in the publicity, in which case of course the case is a lost cause, but if Olivia knew about the disclaimer, why on earth did she not say so to the client and why did she ask the client for supporting documents as if his case stands a chance. She is a senior lawyer, so she should have stopped Leticia from committing a mistake.

Irene

Irene and Anon1146--I think what you are remembering about top knot is that she was telling Leo which judge the case was going to. THEN she said she wished she were getting the case. So, we think we are all "correct" (and the writers really incorrect) in assuming that Leo has the case and will act as a prosecutor, or since he's an attorney he's an "offensive" attorney, rather than a defensive attorney. [Team Leo anyone? How's his throwing arm.]

I agree that Hugo should immediately have gone to the police. If all of Mexico and beyond are watching this, they are certainly being misinformed--unless the whole universe knows this is all imaginary and made up to fit 44 minutes worth of story. At least Law and Order, CSI Miami and all the NCIS' try to get it right (except for Horatio who seems to be everywhere at once).

Nina, you are absolutely correct regarding the rape kit.

The purpose of the rape kit is to gather evidence of rape. They make the victim disrobe standing on a sheet and bag the clothes or any evidence that falls off in the process, then do a physical exam to to document injuries (including injuries to the genitals consistent with rape), collect nail trimming and biological samples by swabbing the lips, cheeks, thighs, vagina, anus, and buttocks, comb hair for evidence and more.

To be effective, the rape kit is done in the hospital immediately upon admission in order to gather as much evidence as possible and preserve it.
Of course Alexa should have had the rape kit done in the hospital, and most evidence is now lost. They can still document injuries, but that's about it.

The only explanation to that I can find to this is that maybe Alexa initially refused to submit to the rape kit, but since had a talk with Brick and he convinced her that she needs to do it and to try to gather whatever evidence that is left.

Irene

Thanks Urban, I missed the episode but thanks to this flawless recap I feel like I watched it.

Since Vicky is the most sensible woman in that law firm I'm still hopeful she's gonna be the one to make both Ale and Ric come to their senses.

Can't tell exactly what Ale was wearing from the screenshots but I can only imagine the horror.

Doesn't Elena have a job or something?

Anita, what a great term you coined! An offense attorney is how a Vega lawyer that acts as a prosecutor should be referred to.

Irene

Alejandro Tommasi -- He earned my admiration in Pasión. What a wonderful actor he was in Pasión, and I believe he played Daniella Romo's dead husband in Sortilegio and Sebastian Rulli's dead father in LQLVMR who recognized SR (Alejandro del Monte) on his deathbed.
Also, he played in DA

This is the 3rd novela I've seen Sergio in. I first saw him on Cuando seas mia where I really liked him and secondly on Catalina y Sebastian.

If you guys like like AA and also DR's voice, particularly in their younger days, please take a second or two to watch this super sexy video with both actors.

https://goo.gl/images/G6boiX

Such a pleasure to watch.

Ava: "Doesn't Elena have a job or something ?" ROFLOL! I couldn't stop laughing so hard.

Her parents must've raised a spoiled brat & encouraged her evilness.

No wonder Gabriel Soto couldn't stay married to her. And if rumors are true, I don't believe in rumors, but they say GS was a major question mark in Majorie de Sosa's praternity suit with Julian Gil.

Well her parents must have left her a large fortune that she doesn't have to work and only has to plot 24/7 of how to get Ric back into her layer.
I'm worried about her mental state too.

Ava--Actually Elena has a job. It's just not evident. It has something to do with catering and events, but she never seems to have an event to get to. At least we've never actually hear her telling Reek she can't talk or bring the kids because of deadlines. I think it was Isabel she originally told this to. They were "catching" up over the phone.

Nice catch about the rape kit, Nina.

Yes Anita
I think I remember that she is an events caterer but she most not have a thriving business because she never works.
