Nett, I'm pretty sure that Margarita is not aware that a drug has been put into the lemonade. We see Paula put the drug into the lemonade container in the refrigerator after carefully looking around to be sure no one is around. I think Margarita has Alo's best interests at heart, and gives her the lemonade because Alo has asked for it to help her feel better.

Halimacandy, I have never cared for the docudramas about famous singers. I watched a good part of the one about Celia Cruz, just because I love Celia Cruz's music. But for the most part I prefer purely fiction telenovelas. This is to say I'm not watching the weekend program about Luis Miguel. I do remember, when he appeared in San Jose, not that far from me, a friend (gringa) from my Spanish class paid big bucks to see him.

Random thoughts: Ernesto got a good look at Sociopath Paula. She even threatened his life. But, in her twisted way, she loves him. And this is aside from her completely selfish plan to hook her wagon to a star, getting power by proxy. The reason she's siding with Cummings and despising him lately is, of course, because of the drinking but also because she's blazing with jealousy that he's fallen for Alejandra, Sofía's supposed doppelganger.

A new fact came to light, at least for me. Paula flat out admitted doing away with Claudia, Ernesto's first wife. And he didn't turn a hair. So my belief that he didn't know what she did was wrong.

I noticed that Mauricio completely despises J-Low and smirked when Max ran off to talk to Eliza. And, like the stereotypical other woman in telenovelas, she was completely delusional. She thought that creating a crime scene of a bad beat-down by Eliza would turn Max away from Eliza forever.

Jennifer's plan DID work to the extent that Eliza now believes Max may have gotten close to her only to get Rodrigo's bone marrow.

I am SO over Joel. Of course Lorena's machinations will eventually come to light. But, instead of honing in on the suspicion that Sofía may have risked all the cops' lives by sending thugs to kill them at the wrong pier, he's all about whether she did the deed with Ernesto or not.

I was pretty sure Eliza was not going to tell the cops what Jennifer did. The witch knows exactly which buttons to push, and the ones that mattered were the possibility of Karina and Tomás also being deported. Eliza is brave and she would have risked it for herself, but not for her children. Perhaps the true fact that, at least in California, you are immune from immigration problems if you are reporting a crime, the most common one being spousal abuse, is not known to her.

Oh, and Johnny plans to have Frida have sex with some other "producer" as another step on the ladder to success. And that awful 66 told Tomás that he's a pulga too small for that perra (a flea too small for that dog) when he sees all the hits Frida is getting on her video.

Great comments, novlera. I have to confess that I'm pretty disappointed in this novela. I'll continue to watch it and to recap one day a week, but I'm fed up with the absurd reliance on flashbacks, and retreads of the flashbacks. I think that instead of the writers getting paid for this [expletive deleted], we should be paid for being asked to put up with this. [End of rant, at least for now]

Oops, I have to start my rant again. Why do we get Fri's song on and on in episode after episode? Is there an ironic tie between what Johnny is asking of her and the repetition of her song? I mean, is she the wife/girlfriend/play toy of the novela's director or producer? Or someone in Telemundo? It feels like an ad to showcase her talent, which I agree is considerable, but ¡Ya basta! [OK, rant really over, maybe :-) ]

Was anyone else nervous about the pill that the other girl gave to Alo?

And speaking of Alo, I was amused to see that she admitted she claimed she was gay simply to annoy Ernesto. She tells Alejandra, "Annoying Ernesto is my favorite sport--after fútbol."

I wasn't all that surprised that Paula shot the supposed traitor, but I was surprised/amused by the look on her face after she did it. Her eyes opened wide, as if she was shocked to see that he was dead.

Thank goodness Rod told Tomás what really happened at the supposed house of terror. And I was glad to see how outraged Tomás was, though frankly I was considerably more pleased when Eliza socked J-Lowest in the preceding episode. I think I stood up and cheered.

Last night's business with Lorena and the phone puzzles me. I'm not quite sure what's happening. It doesn't help that everything is dark and we can barely make out that it's Lorena we see. But as far as I could tell, she again secretly enters Alejandra's apartment, looks for where she planted the phone, finds it ((huh?), and then replaces it with a different one. ???

I can't stand all the flashbacks. Well, at least they make them conveniently grey so that I can tell when to hit the fast forward button on the recording. It feels like there's 20 minutes of new show, maybe.

I don't think Lorena found the phone she planted in the first place, rather that that was another flashback. She put another one there, God knows what that's about.

And, yes, playing Frida's song and/or video over and over is tiring. I'm not a big fan of pop songs anyway, whether they are in Spanish or English. They all try to sing like soul singers, but they aren't as good at it as the real deals (Luther Vandross, Aretha Franklin).

Nett, you're right that Paula cares for no one, though I doubt that she'd want to poison Ernesto, at least until she's sure he won't be President of Mexico. But apparently Ernesto never drinks lemonade, preferring something much stronger. Julián is a mildly pleasant diversion, but I think not one that Paula truly cares for. Moreover, I suspect she knows/thinks that he too doesn't drink lemonade. Alo, on the other hand, loves it and drinks it frequently. So, to the extent that Paula thinks about endangering anyone else, the people who would come first to mind don't seem to be lemonade drinkers. And if perhaps Alejandra turns out to like lemonade, so much the better, as far as Paula is concerned.

The answer to Steve's question about why Margarita is giving Alo more lemonade is that she knows that Alo likes lemonade a lot, and since Alo has just felt somewhat dizzy, Margarita thinks (and says) that the sugar in the lemonade may help her to feel better.

This Max deserves much more than a puny punch for what he did.
Jennifer is crazy and inflicted the injuries on herself, but even if Eliza truly beat the c..p out of Jennifer, he had no right to reproach her. I think Eliza was remarkably calm and restrained. I am a lawyer and I abhor violence of any kind, but if something like that was done to my child, they would her to operate that b..ch to extract my shoe from her behind.
And how dumb is he to get the same doctor that illegally operated on Rodrigo to check on Jennifer.
Although I understand Eliza's fear, I was quite disappointed that she left the police station without pressing charges. But at least now she finally realized what a piece of s..t Max really is. It's just sad that it took Rodrigo to almost die for her to realize it.

As far as Joel is concerned, I have to fight the urge not to fast forward his scenes. A dumber character never graced our screens and at this point I wouldn't cry if he drank Paula's orange juice.

I'm glad David was wearing his bullet proof vest. This doesn't work for regular cops on the show, somehow the bad guys shoot them in the face, but since David is more important, his bullet proof vest actually worked.

Since Eladia is helping Roxana, I expect one day Roxana to help her back, because Roxana always keeps her word. It was funny to see those jokers Angel and Mendiola having no control at all of the situation.

Steve, I don't think we're supposed to discuss things from the previews.

About a month ago, someone who wasn't sure whether she wanted to watch this show said she didn't like prison dramas, and asked if the show would ever get out of jail. Well, it appears it's totally out, and maybe Season 2 won't even have the prison (or maybe they'll have a new one). I think Roxana said that's the end of Las Dunas.

LADO – VIERNES – Cap. 52 – Parte 1 de 2

This won’t be a lengthy recap. I have a Golden State Warriors basketball playoff game sitting on my DVR, and I’m a fanatic. And there’s a TON more flashbacks!

From yesterday, Sofía has come to Joel’s apartment. He’s doing the jealous, in her face about Ernesto shtick again. He says that, for all he knows, she may just be a great actress and she knows there are cameras in Ernesto’s office. He says he didn’t know the truth about her 10 years ago, and he still doesn’t. Sofía handles herself well. She tells him to just leave her in peace. She tells him that what he feels for her is lust, not love. Love involves trust.

At the bakery Tomás rages at Max after having hit him. He says Max could have fooled his sister, but not him. Eliza tells Max to never come back to the bakery or to her house. If he does she’ll turn both he and Jennifer in to the police.

After Max leaves Tomás continues to yell at his mother for taking Max back and Andrés tells him to respect his mother.

Johnny and Mark bring some totally skeezy guy with the straight brim, gangster baseball cap and a chain hanging from his waist to meet Frida. He’s the guy who they say can take Fri to the next level.

Alo has a hallucination about the Mean Girl who’s suddenly friendly [can’t remember her name] and asking for help with her Spanish. The girl seems to be in Alo’s bedroom.

Julián has some trouble at first, but manages to do the deed with Paula, who keeps bringing up Karina.

Sofía sadly tells Joel that she hopes one day something or someone will remove his doubts about her, but she’s not going to try any more to convince him. She leaves.

Eliza confides in Andrés, but I don’t remember if she ever told him exactly what happened with Rodrigo, only that she was through with Max.

I thought Frida was supposed to perform a song for this Larry, but it turned out to be a strip tease, with Johnny recording the whole scene on his cell phone. I don’t think Larry and Frida were aware he was recording.

Sara Foster has arrived at the hotel where Lorena (or her expense account) is paying. But Sara catches sight of her police badge and is furious. Lorena, as we know, has zero ethics. She again promises her a million bucks, somehow. And promises her revenge on Cummings. Sara agrees to stay.

Max comes back to his former house. He takes J-Low a tray of food, but won’t explain where he got the bruise on his cheek. He does tell her that Eliza isn’t going to press charges. He's cold as ice with her.

Eliza has a talk with her children at the breakfast table. Karina finds out what happened to Rodrigo, but we don’t really see her reaction. Tomás has been drinking continues to blame his mother. Rodrigo feels responsible for everything.

Sofía tells Richard she needs him to move out of the apartment. She wants to concentrate fully on getting Ernesto and doesn’t want to deal with either his or Joel’s drama. He ends up telling her he trusts her completely.

Some guy is telling Joel that the message on the phone he found in Sofía’s office went to Paula Duarte. Joel is confused; he doesn’t think the person he suspects has access to this woman. The guy says a woman bought the phone, but from the security camera, you can’t see who it was.

After Lorena leaves the hotel room, Sara gets one Gonzo to get her a phone number in LA.

Charlie wants to thank Rodrigo, but Max tells him this is not a good time. Max tells him he’s going to work, but he won’t be staying under the same roof as Jennifer.

Richard chews Lorena out for bringing Sara to LA without his authorization.

Paula, Ernesto and Cummings are talking at the consulate. What Cummings wants is for the consulate to be swept for bugs because of what went down with the “delivery” at the pier. Ernesto says this is Mexican soil and he can’t authorize it.

Cummings gets a call from Sara while this meeting is going on. He leaves the room, and Ernesto and Paula notice how nervous he is.

Sara tells Cummings she’s in LA. She wants him to come to her hotel to talk with him about something that would interest him. [Methinks she’s looking for a payoff from Cummings and plans to double cross Lorena.]

Steve comes to see Jennifer and sees the state she’s in.

Eliza doesn’t tell Carmen over the phone what has happened. We see some maldito flashbacks where Carmen tells her daughter what she thinks of Max.

It hadn't occurred to me what Sara had in mind when she called Cummings, but I think you're probably right. Neither she nor Lorena can be trusted. I have some questions about how Sara got Cummings' phone number. She calls "Gonzo" and says she needs the cell phone number of someone in LA. First of all, could Gonzo get this information so quickly? I thought it was moderately difficult to get people's cell numbers. Also, since Cummings had been in LA for just a few months, wouldn't he have the number he got when he was in Texas, thus making it all the more unlikely that Gonzo could have obtained the number as quickly as he apparently did? [My beanie was unhappy.]

The guy talking to Joel about the cell phone is Ortega. He tells Joel that the phone call was made to Paula. Joel tells Ortega that he's puzzled because the person he suspects does have direct access to Paula and therefore wouldn't have to contact her via a cellphone message. Ortega also shows Joel a video of a woman buying the cellphone. The video shows her only from behind, so we don't see her face. For some reason, Joel is surprised that a woman bought the phone, but I don't understand why he's surprised.

I think the novela juxtaposed the scene where Sofía talks about Joel's lack of trust with the scene where Richard tells Sofía explicitly, "I trust you." In spite of this, I don't think Sofía will wind up with Richard. They don't have a theme song! :-)

It seems highly likely that Sofía/Alejandra overheard the conversation between Paula and Ernesto where they talk about Cummings wanting someone to come in a sweep the rooms for bugs. Cummings returns to the room right after they've said this, and he greets Alejandra before he re-enters the room. This seems to make Paula and Ernesto aware that Alejandra may have overheard their conversation. The novela ends at that moment, seeming to give the moment added significance. Or perhaps to mislead us.

Novelera: Sara will be in the Body Count very soon because there's no way Cummings will pay her off $$$.

Juanita: Big question is whether Ernesto & Paula have Sofia tortured now that they think she overheard them ?

and yesterday you posted a spoiler on Enemigo, "Padrecito is reunited with the Guill-ista " which happened afterward in the show last night.

 

Steve, I had planned to write to you concerning your addressing messages to me about telenovelas I do not watch. Your doing this makes you appear foolish, someone whose messages should simply be ignored. However, now I'm told that you are also discussing events in episodes that have not yet been shown. As you know, the Telemundo pages' policy clearly stipulates that people NOT discuss what happens in trailers, previews, etc., or anything else that has not yet occurred in the aired episodes.

Steve, at times you have had interesting things to say about the novelas. You could be a valued participant. I urge you to stop addressing your messages inappropriately and, especially, to stop mentioning any events or developments that have not yet been shown in the episodes we've seen.

Steve, I've never watched Enemiga, but according to deb, the comment you made, "the Padrecito is reunited with the Guill-ista," describes something that didn't occur until Friday night's broadcast. You posted your message in the middle of the afternoon on Friday.

I've called this issue to your attention before. Please be more careful from now on not to post about events or happenings that haven't yet occurred in the episodes we've seen. Thanks.

I found it a bit ironic that Daniel begged Roxana not to kill Fermin, and then, after torturing Fermin a bit to find out where the drugs from the Oscuros were (in Bibles), Daniel himself kills Fermin (to save Roxana, whom Fermin had shot by grabbing the AK-15 of a stupid guard standing next to his prone body). Of course this was just a "shot in the arm" to Roxana, apparently that cures pretty much instantly. Guillotina is curing pretty fast, too, now that he has a sexy girlfriend which whom to get it on. His new cartel is the Jinetes Jíbaros (Jinetes are riders, I think Alex says this was a group of Amazonian Indians who were known to cut off the heads of their enemies, just like Guillotina). Now that the Oscuros are pretty much defunct, we still need two cartels for a drug war, so now we have the Mil Cumbres (1000 peaks) and the Jinetes Jíbaros.

Daniel also doesn't like to lie, so when Roxana asks him, did you call Ferrer? He pauses, pauses, and we go to commercial. After the commercial, he says "how could I have done that, ha ha!" Not quite the same as No, I didn't call him.

Then we have those American bigwigs, saying Roxana's in for a big surprise. Does this mean the thing with the Senator is a trap? I watch without subtitles, they may have explained, but I didn't get that part. So who knows if the 30 tons of coke will work out.

One thing I find amusing is that when the writers have people speaking English, they go just a little bit overboard in making the Americans have no idea of how Spanish sounds. Two examples: The "Americans" pronounce Alex's last names as "Fairer", with the stress on the first syllable. And they also say CARtel, instead of carTEL. C'mon, we Americans can pronounce SOME Spanish words correctly!
 

General

Hombre, I'm also amused at the odd way they have people speak in a language supposedly not their own. On Lado, we have a villain who is supposed to be a retired US Senator. He speaks some Spanish and some English in the show. But when he speaks Spanish, he speaks in infinitives rather than conjugating the verbs. For example: Ser difícil de entender or Ella estar en casa.

Puma as the honored guest at dinner was kind of strange, I guess her code doesn't allow her to forgive snitch Daniel.

on the Merc, Daniel, like us, didn't get what was happening with Fermin, Roxy needed the 10 tons of coke he had or stole, for her shipment, ok, so Daniel helps with that, and Luis goes and gets it.

later Alex gets a call, from his "informant" one of the american guys Roxy is blackmailing,

(this is kind of interesting if you didn't get it earlier, but these 2 guys, a custom agent and his assistant, were handling the arms shipments to the mil cumbres, they apparently don't care how many mexicans get killed with the guns, but allowing drugs into the U,S,, well that was a different story, and so Roxy had to find a way to make this work, thus the blackmail.)

but wait, they are feeding Alex the info on the shipment, who in turn is giving FBI Trevor the time and place.

moving on, the mil cumbres family discovers Guillotina is alive and out, Nemesio is sure he will come for them, but all eyes turn on Daniel, for the suspiciously botched kill, so Daniel says he will finish the job, both he and Alex remember the Shanghai Hotel as being a safe haven for Ears, who notices Tilapia's arrival, Guillotina had sent the guys all home so he could spend some quality time with grandma, as he calls her, they slip out while Alex and Daniel run into each other...

grandma, I forget her name, is the sister ?? of a guy that worked for Guillotina, do we know who?, who got a boob job with the money Guillotina sent her after his death.

the bakery always gets me as people always come in that one door, then when they argue/fight, more people come in that door, so the guy leaves by another door behind him that we don't see.

this thing Tomas is doing, delivering the drugs at $10K a pop, is a major crime, and since he is using the bakery stuff to do it, all of that can be confiscated, right?, as if Eliza doesn't have enough problems, they sure are glossing right passed this.

(yea I should have put a comma in there), so you read the posts on the page where you can also comment, did you know if you click the title on top of that page it will take you to another page where the fonts are better?
