Corazon Que Miente, Week 2 (6/11/18) Monday Kickoff: Lucia Makes a Grand Exit

Episode #6 - Monday, June 11
Back at the crime scene, Rogelio has been watching the verbal exchange between Lucía and Demián and the awful aftermath. He runs toward the couple, picks up the gun with his handkerchief and pulls a screaming Dem off of and away from a mortally wounded Luci. Leonardo arrives 1 ½ minutes too late and Luci dies in his arms without telling him who did this to her, although he kept asking her. She had plenty of time to keep asking him to forgive her, though. He begs a passerby for help, but the next thing he knows he’s looking down the barrel of a police-held gun, to be questioned at the station.

Rafaela tries to get Sara to admit she knows of Luci’s whereabouts. Sara and the rest of the family are still looking for Alonso, who turns up at Fr. Daniel’s church sanctuary. Fr. Dan sees him and gives him his usual speech about parents being without stain, hugging Al and silently beseeching His Heavenly Boss to forgive him this little black lie. Al wants to stay with Dan, but is told he’s old enough to confront his demons himself.

Rogelio drives an out-of-control Dem back to the house. He must bring Dem out of  this sinkhole he’s thrown himself into, realizing he shot his wife to death. Rog “convinces” him that Dem didn’t shoot his wife and Rog saw nothing. He has him wipe his bloody hands on a cloth and sends him into the house. He’s to tell anyone who asks that he has a headache and that Rog took him to a meeting. After he’s gone, Rog chuckles to himself as he handles the bloody cloth—he has something on Dem now that will surely come in handy in the future.

Rafie bumps into Demián as he heads into the house. He tells her he didn’t find the runaway couple. She taunts him about Lucía leaving him and he was probably too late and they’ve gone. How humiliating. Dem goes to the bedroom and gets sick to his stomach. He washes his hands compulsively.

Carmen is back to square one with Mariela. She tries again to comfort her. Later she spends the night with her, while Mariela cuddles up to her.

A plainclothes police officer arrives at the Ferrer house to see Demián. When Noé (in a harlequin sweater) comes to announce him, Dem panics, calms down and tells Noé he’ll be down in a bit. Everyone gathers, so they all get the news of the shooting death of Luci at the same time. Dem puts on a good show of being shocked at the news and crumples into a puddle of his own p*ss, grieving loudly. Rafie observes all and takes it in.

At the scene of the shooting, the police have yellow taped the area and are looking for the firearm. There is none to be found. When the chief comes in to question Leo at the station, he can’t react, but asks for Daniel rather than a lawyer. They can’t find Dan so Leo states he doesn’t need to have Dan present. He’s the only one responsible for Lucia’s death. He killed her. He repeats this over and over. The police take him to a cell. They are puzzled that no gun has been found, but maybe he had an accomplice.

Fr. Dan can’t be found because he’s on his way back to the Ferrer mansion with Al. That’s when the two of them find out about Luci. Demián immediately accuses Leo as the perp. Sara and Dan try to put the boys to bed. They start to leave the room when Al gets up to comfort a distraught Santi. Sara comes back and later she curls up with Santi. Al can’t fall asleep. He gets up for some alone time and Dan follows him out. Sara stays with Santi.

Al is sitting out on the front porch, recalling the kiss he saw between Leo and his mother. Dan approaches. Al is convinced Leo killed her; his father said so. Fr. Dan tries to redirect his thinking away from Leo. Neither Al nor his father can go around accusing people without some evidence and that is what the police are doing. Poor Al is torn up because he didn’t behave well with his mother and now he can’t ask her forgiveness. He didn’t have a chance to say goodbye. Fr. Dan comforts him.

Ed gets a late night call from Dem. He needs his help in making arrangements and legal things. He tells Ed what happened to Luci and it was Leo who did it. Ed has arrived and tells Dem all the funeral arrangements have been taken care of.

Rafie tries again to pretend to make nice with Sara. She claims she’s really sad her cousin in no longer with them. She assumes Sara’s conscience won’t be able to let her rest easy, being full of remorse. That earns her a well deserved slap. Sara goes to her room and cries herself to sleep.

The lead detective who was interrogating Leo has come to tell Dem that Leo is admitting to the crime. His surprise is noted by the officer, especially since Dem had already accused him of the murder. Naw, he’s just glad and he hopes Leo rots in jail. The officer says the police still have some loose ends to tie up—like the missing gun. For now, he’d like know what kind of relationship did Luci and Leo have. Was Leo her lover? Dem forcefully denies it. When asked why Dem is so sure it was Leo who killed her, he has a ready answer. Leo was obsessed with Luci and when she wouldn’t yield to him, he killed her. The officer has one last question: where was Demián at the time of the shooting? Ed, who has been quietly listening to all this, quickly answers for Dem, “He was with me, at my office.” Dem, regaining his calm and collected pose tells the officer that his assistant, Rogelio, can vouch for his whereabouts--in the morning. Ed is content, beyond words with this stroke of fate. Obvio Dem needed an alibi and now he has one, courtesy of Ed. He’s probably playing “Gotcha” in his head.

Demián is having nightmares. He relives Luci’s last words to him and the gun going off. He’s loud enough that Sara and Rafie come in to check on him. Al cogitates in bed; Mariela checks on the rose Al gave her.

The lead detective is now in conversation with Fr. Daniel. There are too many inconsistencies in Leo’s story. If he is admitting to killing Lucia, why have they found no gun? Tests show there was no gun residue on Leo to show he fired a gun. Fr. Dan tells him he’s known Leo all his life. He’s a sculptor, a pacifist, he owns no firearms. Fr. Dan also thinks it’s odd that Leo stayed at the crime scene instead of taking off. In fact, the officer says, he’s the one that called for help. The officer admits he has no other leads to follow and without something concrete, he’ll have to let Leo go. Dan says he’ll talk to Leo.

The wake is about to start. Sara is immobilized by grief. Amalia leaves her alone (it’s Amalia, not Marita, sorry). Ed and Karla are getting ready, too. She wonders how much Luci left Dem. He’ll be a millionaire. Ed asks her please, not to think out loud at the funeral. Their two children are ready for school. (Now we know that they have a cute little girl in addition to the boy.)

Leonardo explains to Dan that yes, he feels responsible for Luci’s death, but he never said he pulled the trigger. Daniel wonders why, then, Dem is accusing him. Leo doesn’t know, but he could just as easily accuse Demián of the deed. Daniel finds out Luci and the boys were going to run away with Leo and that perhaps Dem found out. Leo insists he would never have killed Luci. He loved her. He feels culpable because if he’d never returned to Puebla, she’d still be alive. He admits he should have stayed away from her, as Dan warned.

Anita – Thank you for your recap, and ALL your recaps from last week. I had watched the first episode but could not keep up with the others due to my schedule. Thank you!!!

.”She had plenty of time to keep asking him to forgive her, though.”
Massive telenovela addict eye-rolling commenced. I wanted her to scratch Dem's name into the wood she was laying on. . . upon which she was laying.... there, that's better. Anyway, was it wood? looked like it. Eh, whatever.

Dem is a real piece of work. Yeesh! Let’s hope he gets a reeeally big anvil. Him and Rafaela.

Some of the incidental music reminds me of telenovela music written by Jorge Avendano (sp?)….. the guy who wrote most/much of the music for Corazon Salvaje ’93. It really adds to this telenovela’s retro feel of classic Televisa.

Leonardo's facial expression always looks like he is in pain. Or trying to hold in socially unacceptable gas. Or his favorite dog just died. Same look he wore on his face in TdA. Then there’s the church-y-ish music that plays in a lot of his scenes. FLASHBACK CITY to Triunfo del Horror … er … Amor with this actor as the priest/dad. Gah! Olivera is sooo not one of my telenovios. Okay…. rant over.

Anita, wow, another great recap. Two people down already. Now, where are we going?

Only 40 this morning. Is it June yet? I

Gotta go....more later.

Dear Doris--I hope that your feelings for DO don't keep you from watching with us. He's going to be with us for the rest of the run, it seems. I take all your criticisms in these first few episodes to heart and admit they are fairly true.

He was a major actor back in the day, best known for his roles as a villain. The last decade or so he's been cast in rather lackluster, even dolty, semi-comedic roles (except that he won best actor in a series--of four--for Mujeres de Negro in 2017).

My infatuation comes from his lead as Santiago in Montecristo. Ufff! I'm going to see this one through.

Susanlynn--I slept under two blankets last night. Getting ready for Norway in July!

Hi Anita. Sorry to be so late getting to this. Another sparkling recap and keeping my fingers crossed that the Patio expands gradually even if Diego Olivera is not making our hearts beat faster.

Like others, I get so annoyed by these deathbed scenes. First of all, poor woman, shot in the gut and then jerked up and manhandled all over the place by hysterical lover who keeps shouting Qué pasó? qué pasó? She got shot you idiot. Now for heaven's sake, call for help.

Not really upset by the actor, but annoyed by his character. Leonardo is impulsive, thoughtless, useless in a crisis and has triggered a number of events that not only seriously disturbed Lucia's oldest son and changed his view of his mother, but triggered a fatal event as well.

Granted the real fault lay in the past with Lucia's jealous, controlling father who stood in the way of these two marrying in the first place. But still....

Okay, as Doris said....Rant Over. I'm ready to move onto "años después". Hope that we get there quickly.

Thanks as always hard-working Anita. You're the best.

Thanks, Anita. Like JudyB the character annoys me more than the actor. I like Diego Olvera but he is no heart throb but so few actors ate these days. Anyway, I could not believe Leonardo was so stupid as to it being “all his fault”. Demián had gulit written all over him but it looks like nobody will notice or will find it in their own interest not to notice.

Well, maybe it is Leo’s character that annoys me more than the actor himself, but, still....... massive TDA flashbacks, nonetheless. Here’s hoping to get despuesed soon!

”First of all, poor woman, shot in the gut and then jerked up and manhandled all over the place by hysterical lover who keeps shouting Qué pasó? qué pasó? She got shot you idiot. Now for heaven's sake, call for help. Judy, you gas me laughing out loud with that one. 😄😄😄

Well, at least today’s episode is getting us closer to años despues!

Yes, Doris, they can't "después" soon enough for me now. Although I did enjoy watching Rafaela turn and tighten the screws on Damien, Demien? That actor played such an endearing part in Hasta el Fin del Mundo (he was the butler)and is now so revolting in this one. Amazing how these actors can appear attractive or ugly as sin, depending on the part they play.

Episode #7 (Tue Jun 12) Part 1
What follows are the Lights, the Lows and the Highs of the episode.
^At the wake, Karla shares her intuition with Rafaela about Lucía’s and Leonardo’s relationship. She saw what she saw outside the church. It was obvious the attachment was romantic, even though she heard nothing.
^The Municipal Official (don’t know what to call him, but he’s the same character) informs Leo he has no evidence whatsoever to tie him to the shooting and lets him go. He’ll continue to investigate. Leo tells him to investigate Demián—he’s the only one who could have done it. Well, no, he has no evidence to offer either.
^At the burial, the Heavenly Choir accompanies the small band of mourners. Rogelio is the only one simultaneously pleased, fidgety and bored, until Leo shows up. Dem interrupts the service to accuse Leo loudly of the murder and how dare he show up. Rog jumps out and into Leo’s face, punches him in the gut and pulling a gun, ready to shoot Leo. Dem urges him over and over to shoot the son-of-a-gun (which Rog is not about to do—-prison is not in his future plans—see later on). Carmen and Mariela watch from a distance. She must comfort Mariela again—yes, bad things happen to good people. Fr. Dan finally steps between them. Rog lowers the gun and Leo walks away.
^Rog explains to Dem that the little play-acting was only to fix in everybody’s mind that Leo is the killer. Rafie walks away with Dem.
^Mariela learns from Carmen how much Leo loved (querer) Luci and she him and how he would never have hurt Luci. Mariela goes for a ride on her bici, with permission.
^Fr. Dan is asking Dem why he thinks Leo would have wanted to kill Lucía. Dem doesn’t know, doesn’t care, ask Leo. As far as he’s concerned, Leo is the killer, despite the lack of evidence. The police are useless.
^Al and Santi talk by the fountain. Al is still sure Leo killed their mother. It seems Santi listened to Rafie’s gossip regarding their parents fighting a lot. Al tells him she knows nothing and not to pay attention to her. Santi hopes she moves out of the house. He doesn’t like her, neither does Alonso.
^Fr. Dan tries to get Sara to admit she knew all along what Luci was up to. He begs her to get ahold of herself because she has to be there for her two grandsons. Sara runs off without admitting nor agreeing. Dan looks up but doesn’t see God. He sees Rafie taking it all in.
^Rogelio gets called to Dem’s office/LIBRARY (oooh, what I wouldn’t give to have that set up for my books, not Dem’s). Dem wants to know what happened to the gun. Grinning like the Cheshire Cat, he announces the gun is safely in his possession. Dem wants Rog to hand it over—for better safekeeping. Rog refuses. It serves as a little memento for all his loyalty to Dem. Dem gets the drift. Rog insists it’s not a threat, it could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship, er association.

Episode #7 (Tue Jun 12) Part 2
^Fr. Dan informs Carmen of Mariela’s fate. The Sisters of Perpetual Help are coming the next day to take her, probably to an orphanage. Carmen can’t believe such a thing would befall her, after all Don Manuel did to protect her.
^Mariela has reached her destination on her bici, with Lety in tow. She’s there to tell Santi and Al goodbye. She’s leaving for good, but knows not where. She gets a hug from both boys, but she gets a little extra from Al—a kiss on the cheek, which she returns. On the way home, Lety tells Mariela how Luci died in Leo’s arms. Mariela stays behind at the crime scene to reflect on things and finds the red heart, not knowing it was Luci’s.
^Leo has returned to the house. Leo tells Fr. Dan he has to live with the knowledge he was responsible for Luci’s death for the rest of his life. Dan says God has already forgiven him. Now he has to forgive himself. Then Dan gets directly to the point—why didn’t Leo confide in him about what he, Luci and her sons were planning. Leo says it wasn’t because he didn’t trust him. The scandal would have been worse for everyone and Dan’s name would have been mud if everyone knew Dan had known ahead of time. Dan tells Leo Sara is going through the same emotions he is, so he’s pretty sure she knew ahead of time. Leo has been thinking that Luci might have changed her mind because when Leo showed up the boys weren’t with her and she would never have left without them.
^Rafie is waiting for Dem in his bedroom. She coos that it’s time to make her his legitimate wife. He tries to rebuff her, but she explains that since she told him ahead of time, Dem knew of Luci’s plans. It wouldn’t go well for him if the whole world knew where he really was and it wasn't with Ed. He’d end up in prison. Dem thinks about it once or twice and tells her they can’t marry now, it wouldn’t look good. She says, ok, maybe later, but if he doesn’t come through, things will go badly for him. For both, he reminds her.
^Leo apologizes to Mariela for what happened at the cemetery. Carmen sends her off to wash her hands before supper, but she stops mid-way up the staircase to listen to the grownups. She learns they are coming for her the next day. Leo says he’s leaving, too. Carmen, unknowingly but for Mariela’s benefit, spills all the beans that Luci was married to an abusive jerk, who very well could have been the one to kill Luci and Leo was offering her a chance for a better life. Leo says it doesn’t help. He swears he’ll never fall in love again.
^Sara comes to her senses with respect to Al and Santi. She will never abandon them, she tells them.
^Mariela is saved from the clutches of the good Sisters at the last minute. Leo changes his mind after Carmen tells him that destiny has brought these two “orphans” together for a reason. Mariela hops out of the car and the Sisters drive off, disappointed they didn’t get her, while Leo and Mariela hug each other tightly.

Thanks for this good start to the entire recap Anita.

Hate seeing Rogelio get power. You know he's going to lord it over the other men working for Demian. But do love how he's gleefully tightening the noose around Big D's neck.

Had to laugh when I read "Dan looks up but doesn't see God. Indeed not. The simpering, sneaky Rafaela is definitely playing for the Other Side.

Looking forward to the rest of it.

I'm really liking Alexis Ayala in his role as Fr. Daniel. He's playing it with such earnestness and sincerity, I forget who he was in Sombra.

JudyB--Please fill in where I omitted scenes. Yes, Rogelio is now in charge of Noe. Noe didn't like it one bit, confused, certainly since Dem told him Rog was no longer "with them." Dem told him to like it or take a hike.

Ah and Part II is already here also. Was verrry disappointed in Leonardo when I thought he was going to welsh on his commitment to help raise Mariela. He'd been a total, fatal bumbler up to then and seemed hell bent on making the worse possible choices...for himself and everybody else. Glad he decided to stay at the last minute.

Hoping a big Time Jump is our next event in this one. Thanks again Ms. Anita! I too thought the library was impressive.

I loved seeing Demián squirming as he was feeling the pressure from both Rogelio and Rafaela. I am sure this is just the start.

I also appreciated the “Heavenly Choir”making its appearance, thanks, Anita. Thst was a good one.

So glad that Leonardo came to his senses and saved Mariela from the orphanage.

Anita, Alexis Ayala is another one who can change from despicable to adorable, depending on his role. Saw him first in Juan Querendon where he was a slick, well-dressed mujeriego. And apart from his dreadful character in Sombra, he was equally reprehensible in Lo Que la Vida me Robó. Only thing that bothers me in this one is that he's so darn short he looks like a little boy trying to knock some sense into Leonardo.

Yeah, but the collar beats a sculptor's chisel every time.

Thanks again, Anita. I especially appreciate your recap because I missed this episode.

I think Diego is a hottie, but then, I am a fan of guys with long, dark locks.

Alexis played a horrible villain in Sombra. He raped his son's one true love.

Okay...good guys, bad guys....onward.

...and he did it with one arm missing. None of us could believe she couldn't have fought him off....but then we weren't there.

Ohmigosh, I forgot that detail. In fact I've forgotten most all of that one. Brain is getting a teflon coating for sure.

Oh ,I forgot about his missing appendage !!!!...also.....no heart !!!

Judy...do you remember Susana Gonzalez free spirit ways and her swirly skirts?

Yes indeed, and those white heels she wore with the swirly skirts. Hmmmmm....remember fashion details but forget severed arms. Just as well. But shows you where my radar is.

Azela Robinson played the part Susana Gonzalez did in the original telenovela. I saw a few episodes and she too wore white heels and big swirly skirts. Maybe that's why it stuck in my brain.

I am still loving this TN, and the kids are doing a great job, but like the rest of the Patio I am more than ready for the time jump. Surely it must be soon...? It would be nice to get into some real plot development and away from the constant stream of tragedies. More kissing, less crying!

So far my favorite characters are the Padre (thumbs up!) and Rogelio (thumbs down!) I love watching both of those actors -- such chameleons.

Anita - Thank you for your recap of this week's episodes!!

We had our time jump today, and not even a "despues". I feel cheated. LOL

Well, Doris, it was a jump alright, right through Med School. I wish they had shown them in NYC together.

We have a whole new bunch of characters. Renata is going to be trouble!

I'll be putting up a short abstract in a couple of hours. Meanwhile, can someone help me out. The grown-up Santiago is an all too familiar face, but I can't place where I last saw him, nor his name, so it's not easy to look him up.

Emi from La Candidata. I don't know the actor's name.

I've got a character list up if it helps anybody.
https://5ftlatina.com/cohete/2018/06/13/corazon-que-miente-characters-part-2/

It is Federico Ayos.

Thank you, 5ft and Jarifa. Now I have him pegged. I thought the four younger versions of Mariela, Alonso, Lety and Santiago were terrific, especially Santiago. He's going to be a heartbreaker. Ok, gotta get to work on this.

I’ve only seen Thelma Madrigal once before, in LaSombra del Pasado. I didn’t recognize her as a brunette!

What was the show with Thelma and Pablo Lyle with Susana as her stepmotber. Thelma was hateful in that one . She had an affair with Susana's character's ex who was awful.

Susanlynn--Doris has your answer.

Episode #8 (Wed Jun 13) Part 1 - Todavía en el pasado
Mariela gets to stay with Leonardo and they fly off to NYC after a visit to the cemetery. Leo runs into Sara who tells him she holds him responsible for the death of her daughter. He replies that he loved Lucia more than anyone in the world. Still, she doesn’t ever want to see him again. He’s ok with that.

Sara wants to know why Rafie is still hanging around the house. (OT: I loved the china collection displayed on the shelves behind Demián’s back.) Dem clears things up for Sara. Amante, zorra, mujer suela or not, Rafie stays. Sara is defeated but not silent. She reminds Dem he can’t throw her out of her own house. She’ll always be there for her grandsons (and they’re going to need her, for what we see later). In addition, she’ll be taking a more active part in the business. Dem is defeated and only asks that everyone get along.

Fr. Daniel won’t tell the three kids where Mariela is going nor with whom, just that she’ll be well taken care of and they don’t need to worry about her anymore—especially since the boys didn’t like her very much. Santi teases Al about Mari being his girlfriend.

Noé isn’t happy with his demotion to work under Rogelio. Amalia is ok if they want to leave. He talks himself and her out of the idea on account of Lety.

Demián is furious they haven’t rearrested Leonardo. He learns from Ed that Leo is leaving Puebla, probably forever. Dem says nothing is forever. Someday they’ll run into each other and Dem swears he’ll kill Leo with his own hands. (Yeah, I bet. It’s just bluff to make him feel real macho.)

Ahora en el presente
The young Mariela holds up the red heart and is transformed into a beautiful young lady, about to receive her medical degree. She’s giddy when her buddy Cristian tells her there’s a 40-ish guy to-die-for waiting for her downstairs (Cris is instantly in love.) Mariela realizes it’s Leonardo, but she’s happy to see him.

Carmen is late for the ceremony. Back in Puebla, Carmen has fainted, either before or after taking a tumble down the front steps. Her purse and her suitcase are nearby. She ends up in the hospital, lucky that her maid found her and called an ambulance. She brushes off her episode when she finally reaches Leo and Mari.

Twice we see Alonso pass Mariela in the hall of the university building. He notices her, at a glance, the first time and she notices him, at a glance the second time. All goes well at the ceremony and her close friends and Leo cheer and hug. Cristian and the girl excuse themselves. They still have exams.

In Puebla, Lucía’s prediction has come true. Rafie is not living happily ever after at Demián’s side. She’s currently upset that he’s invited some chippie to stay with them without checking with her—his WIFE. It turns out Renata is a niece of some sort. Dem tries to reassure Rafie she’s just a child and he has no interest in her. Of course, we see right away he’s an old letch the way he eyes a grown up Lety up and down, front and back. She’s definitely uncomfortable around him and Rogelio, who shows up at the breakfast table with some new of problems evicting folks from a construction project.

Dem tells Rafie he misses Luci more every day. He has her memory and their two sons, which is more than she ever gave him. He orders her to get the guest room ready.

Episode #8 (Wed Jun 13) Part 2
Lety is looking for work, but no luck. She tells her mom she’d like to get a job at Dem’s company. Amalia thinks it’s so she can be close to Santiago. Lety sees nothing wrong with that. She tries to tell Lety that whatever she’s dreaming, it’s not going to happen. Lety needs to learn her place on the social ladder. In fact, it’s probably only a step-stool near the Ferrer’s ladder. Besides, he already has a girlfriend. (The girlfriend happens to be that cute little girl of Karla and Ed’s, all grown up as well.

At the office shortly thereafter, Demián gives Santiago, in a bright yellow sweater, a verbal dressing down for daring to think for himself regarding a construction project. The only person who is allowed to think in this business is himself—although Alonso has the authority to speak for him. Santi should just do as he’s told, never mind that Al is away tying up some loose ends at the university and Santi was just trying to help. Tomorrow, Santi is to drop the construction project and go back to doing office work.

Sara and Amalia are on the same page with respect to Rafie the Harpy. If it weren’t for the two boys, Sara says she would have left long ago, so’s not to see how Rafie has taken over in the house. Santi calls Sara to complain about the latest rebuff by his father. Sara isn’t surprised. She gives him a pep talk. He needs to be proud of himself and sure of his own abilities and she’s not the only one to think so. There’s Florencia. Santi laughs. They are just getting to know each other.

Florencia and her brother, a lawyer, like his father, are exchanging fashion tips. He leaves to let Flo get ready for a dinner date with Santi. Enter Karla, who, though she likes Santi well enough, makes no secret she prefers an alliance with Alonso for her daughter. You can tell by the look on Karla’s face she’s going to start scheming to put such a plan in motion.

Sara takes an opportunity to get in some digs at Rafie’s expense, being perturbed by this child, Renata, coming to live with them. It reminds her of how Sara felt when she heard Rafie was coming to stay—nothing but trouble. She hopes Renata isn’t cut from the same cloth as Rafie. They go down to greet cousin Renata. As Rafie is introduced, a fully-formed, nubile young (predator) girl with long brown locks, carefully coiffed, rises and says pleased to meet-cha, Aunt. Dem later accuses Rafie of being jealous of his “niece.” She’s not going anywhere, as Rafie demanded, since Ren has nowhere else to go. Rafie fears Renata’s “attributes” will attract Dem’s sons. He’s ok with that. He says, the words dripping with sarcasm, that someday, he hopes Rafie will come to accept her like the daughter they never had.

Santi meets Renata at the piano in the great hall of the mansion. She comes around to greet him and leaves him with a red kiss on his cheek.

Sara visits Fr. Dan. She gets the skinny on Renata. She’s the daughter of a second cousin, Francisco, on their father’s side. Dan never had much to do with him, but Demián did. Francisco was very wealthy and did business with Dem, investments. He died recently. Sara has an Ah-Ha moment. Dan is surprised to learn Renata is coming to live with them. Sara tells him Rafie is none too happy about the arrangements.

Later, Lety is in that famous “listening” wine cellar. Rogelio appears. He blocks her exit, smiling.

Thanks Anita. Just got a chance to see this. Enjoying witnessing Rafaela's bitterness and insecurity (Be Careful What You Wish For) but very uncomfortable with the leering looks that both Demian and Rogelio are giving young Lety.

Leonardo definitely looks better with a little facial hair. Gives his face of modicum of character. And equally happy that Father Dan now has a little gray in his coif as the actor always looks better that way.

Well, we seem to have despuesed into all kinds of sordid, reprehensible possibilities among relatives, servidumbre and the like. Business as usual I guess.

Thanks so much Anita for keeping this going single-handedly. Jardinera made a quip in her recap about another angel getting his wings. I think your good deed in recapping this solo certainly should equip another angel or two. Muchas gracias.

Anita...thank you. Did Dem actually marry Rafe? I don't know how Sara could stand living in the same house as those two..and it',s her house!!

Well, everyone is all grown up. Let the games begin.

Thanks, Anita. It sure helped having a recap to get the names of all of these adults now straight.

Might there be some unsavory competition between Demián and Santiago for the attentions of niece/cousin Renata?
Rafaela might be getting a run for her money.

JudyB, you made me laugh with your “we seem to have despuesed into all kinds of sordid, etc.” So true!

Yep, Susanlynn--she's his wifey now, but less beloved than Luci, which Dem keeps reminding her. Sara can't stand being in the same house with the Harpy, but she sacrificed for her grandsons' sakes. Note that Santi called her first, rather than Rafaela to complain about dad.

Jarifa--I found out too late the name of Karla and Ed's son. It's Lisandro. I have a feeling some second-stringers will still show up. Thursday I'll post the new names.

Thanks, Anita.

Thank you, Anita, for your recap. I was multitasking while this was in and got confused over who fell down the stairs.

Well, we seem to have despuesed into all kinds of sordid, reprehensible possibilities among relatives, servidumbre and the like. Business as usual I guess.“. LOL!!! Yep, bizness as usual in telenovelaland. 😎

Rafaela forgets that she is married to a guy who cheats on his wife. Karma’s a bitch, eh Rafe?

Doris, oh yes... What goes around comes around...payback is a b*tch...and the way you get them is the way you lose them.

Thanks, Anita! I can't believe I got two squares on my bingo card in one scene: FAINTING and FALL DOWN STAIRS. If only she were in a coma...

I wonder if there will be a time when someone utter the title of the tn.

For all of you who are wondering about TELENOVELA BINGO, it was started long ago (in 2010) and far away by one of our commenters - Julia. It was posted somewhere and we got to choose cards with different "events" and filled them in as we observed or heard them. It was great fun.

Here is the site--It's still up.

https://sites.google.com/site/telenovelasdesquiciadas/bingo

Here's what she said about telenovelas in general.

"Warning: Telenovela viewing may be habit forming. If you experience one or more of the following symptoms, you may already be addicted:
You cannot sleep until you've seen the latest episode.
You accidentally call your significant other by the name of your favorite swoon-worthy character.
You analyze the thoughts and motivations of the characters as though they are real people and you are their therapist.
You find yourself fantasizing elaborate and cruel punishments for the villains.
You seek out web sites wherein you can discuss the developments with like-minded persons.
You view all staircases with great unease.
When someone needs a blood transfusion, you immediately wonder who their real parents will turn out to be.

If it's already too late for you, the recommended treatment is to embrace the madness and join in the fun. Like all good addicts, I can justify my habit: Watching these shows has taught me a lot of Spanish and a lot about Mexican culture."

I picked #13 and have filled in: Gun Fired, "Para Siempre" (What Leo said, he'd love Lucia para siempre), Character Travels out of the Country, and Blackmail. I doubt I'll ever see product placement, but in the intro credits, I see a gratuitous shirtless male jumping in the water still wearing his jeans. Enough nostalgia. I must go watch our favorite HEARTS and report on the happenings.

So glad you brought back Julia's list Anita. It was a doozy. I may not see today's episode or comment until tomorrow. Crazy day today. Hasta luego!

"You view all staircases with great unease." JAJAJAJAJAJA.

I, too, am waiting for the gratuitous shirtlessness to manifest itself. Although what's in the credits doesn't always actually occur, I'm sure *someone* will doff his duds soon enough. Cristian will make sure of it.

Rosemary la Otra and I always play Card #8 coz it's our birthday (8/8.)

I'll be posting the recap for Thursday's episode on the front page. Look for it later.

Ah, yesss! Good old Escaleracide! LOL 😉

Remember in ABISMO, when none of the houses had stairs, and the inconvenient girl had to steal a motorcycle to have her plot-driven "accident"?

Thank goodness I never watched Abismo after Sabine Moussier came on the scene. It was too soon to watch trash after LQNPA, even for laughs.

The "staircase unease" came straight from Julia's blog to our eyes.

Thanks to the wonderful recaps and the saintly person who invented the fast forward button I can now join this patio and ask all sorts of unnecessary questions, such as how a child with brown eyes grows up to become a blue eyed adult and who would let a middle aged bachelor who is a suspect in a homicide to just take abroad a female prepubescent child to whom he is not related and whom he met for the first time just days before.

Irene--Glad you can join us, even for a little bit. Please suspend belief. Leave your beanie over there at PASL and sit back and enjoy this bit of fluff--and some eye candy for all ages.
