Corazon Que Miente, Week 4 (6/25/18) Thursday Update: Bro fu-fighting—no, not the young ones.

Episode #19
Noé goes with the police quietly. The ladies are very agitated.
Ren is still in the garden with Santi. She’s sure Mariela means nothing to Alonso (as Santi hinted) and if she did, Ren will just snap her fingers and she’s gone. Oh, says Santi, sort of the way she did with him?
Leo is trying to find some inspiration for his next project, but is called home to help out with the latest crisis.
Karla urges her adult son to not get involved with that tal Mariela. He should know she’s bad news and bad news travels fast around town (especially if Karla is driving the train). Liso laughs at her proposition and blows her off, even after hearing that Mari slapped his sister a little while ago. It was all because Flo told Mari to keep her hands off her boyfriend. Liso is very skeptical. When Mari calls, Liso answers, to the consternation of his mother.

Sara interviews mousy, insecure Elena as replacement cook for Amalia. (I bet that won’t last long.) Sara remembers her working at the Moliners. Yes she had.
Denise is going over the contract for the Puebla statue with the man offering Leo the commission.
Everyone is heading for the police station. Denise wants to join them. Mari tells her no. Leo backs her up. He does allow her to set up the studio so he can get right to work. She’s miffed (again). When she sneaks a look at Leo’s portfolio of sketches, her thermostat rises. They are all of Mariela. In the studio she sees the sculpture of a lady who looks nothing like Mariela (or Lucía) and studies it.
Dem comes to the jail to lord it over Noé. Dem dismisses his protestations of innocence. He has proof of the theft.
Lety gets a bit strident with the police official when they learn the bail hearing won’t be until the next day. Liso arrives before anyone can get thrown out.
Dem takes Al for a ride—around the golf course. He pours his praise over him, including his choice of Renata—not like his good-for-nothing brother. Al defends Santi from Dem's put-downs. Dem says juarever, it’s just that he and Al are more alike, he understands him better. Then he goes back to the Renata theme. He’s sure she’ll make a great wife. Whoa! Al’s not ready for that step.
Liso has done everything he could at the station. Noé stays in jail. Lety and Amalia decide to stay put. Leo, Mari and Carmen go home. Before she leaves, though, she gives the official a piece of her mind regarding Demián Ferrer’s various transgressions they never investigated. Liso steps up to stop her. Leo steps up to stop Liso from stopping Mari and takes her away.
Dem bamboozles Ren into agreeing to let him “help” make her inheritance nest egg grow. Since, he assumes, she knows nothing about finances, he puts himself forward as her financial advisor—after she signs a power of attorney, if that suits her.
The trio from the police station arrive back home. Denise is armed and ready to fire. Her trajectory is straight at Leo’s heart. She accuses him of being totally in love with Mariela and that’s why he hasn’t been able to concentrate or be productive and why he doesn’t want her in his house. Everyone is stunned by that volley. Leo tells her she’s out of line. If that’s why she came, it’s better she leave. Denise and her big red lips sink down on the couch, somewhat ashamed that things didn’t go her way.
Upstairs, Mari thinks Denise is crazy. Carmen notes that people see what they want to see and come to wrong conclusions. Especially since these May-December relationships are ok. Mari says it’s not ok since that man has been taking care of her since she was a child. Well, Carmen says, suppose for a moment that it’s true what Denise said. What could happen? That stops Mari short. She’s never seen Leo either as a traditional father or a man she’d be interested in. Besides, that kernel came from that nut Denise, not Leo.
Amalia gets to see Noé through the bars. Lety went to see Fr. Dan. They have a lawyer. Noé hopes Liso isn’t like his pa – taking Demián’s side. Noé tells her how Dem came to see him and said he was in jail for not keeping his mouth shut. He *doesn’t* tell her he also threatened Lety and Amalia.
Lety’s story riles up Fr. Daniel.
Liso, Lety and Amalia return home without Noé, but tomorrow Liso hopes to get him out on bail. Liso and Mari sittin’ on the couch, but no k-i-s-s-i-n-g. Liso asks if there is someone else. Mari says definitely not, but she’s also not looking. He’s moving a little fast. Can’t they just be friends?
Renata, our poisonous spider asks advice of the scorpion. Ren is all coy, explaining that Santi is angry with her for going out with Al and she doesn’t want to be blamed for any rancor. Rafie enjoys the moment, but isn’t fooled by Renata’s story that she never had anything to do with Santi, nor did she lead him on—unless he misinterpreted her behavior (wow—what a whopper). Rafie is sure Santi is jealous. But what exactly does Ren want her to do? Well, Ren doesn’t want Santi to interfere with her and Al. Rafie reminds her the bros are very close, although in matters of the heart, who knows. She promises to stop Santi from interfering.
Lety assumes the fault for Noé’s predicament is hers, all because Dem tried to rape her. Amalia cautions her that they are not to talk about that. (It’s too late to put that tequila back in the bottle.)
Carmen is telling Leo that things could get more intense and perhaps Denise should go stay in a hotel. He and Mariela would be able to relax and be more comfortable. As she exits, Denise approaches. She wants to go in Leo’s room, but Carmen suggests she leave Leo alone for now. Whatever her intentions are with Leo, the worst thing she can do is to attack Mariela.
Fr. Dan opens both doors to Dem’s home office and stands there like the Angry Avenger. His visit couldn’t be much more transparent. He accuses Dem, at the top of his lungs about Noé and those charges. Dem fulminates. Then he hauls off and hits his brother, sending him reeling. Dan does not hesitate and hits him back. These are not 6-year-olds in a schoolyard fight. It takes Sara to intervene and stop the fray. She takes Dan outside to talk. Fortunately the two walk away from the house so Dem can’t hear standing by the open French doors.
Al is out in the darkened garden. He’s thinking, we think. We can’t really tell, but we can be pretty sure Mari is rolling around in his head. Ren finds him and, emboldened by what she believes is their solid relationship, starts doing kissy-face and neck-fondling. Sara comes upon them and takes him away to talk to him and his bro.
Rog finds out Elena got a job with the Ferrers. He says he doesn’t like her around where she can spy on him. All Elena wants to do is cook. All he wants is for her to quit, or else.
Next day, Santi and Al show up to be character witnesses for Noé. (It a good bet that is what abuela Sara wanted to talk to them about.) Our favorite police official says it won’t make any difference. There is evidence. He tells them about the fingerprints on the envelopes that held the money, a pen knife with Noé’s initials on them (what Rog probably picked up at the pension), and someone saw him there after work hours on the night of the theft. As soon as the official mentions Rogelio’s name, both young men react. Al says of course his fingerprints would be on the envelope, he’s the one that brings them to Demián. Santi says it would be stupid for him to commit the crime and leave all the incriminating evidence behind. The official says the only thing that would help is for Dem to withdraw the charges.
Denise apologizes to Mari the next day. It’s better they not be enemies. Denise takes her to the studio and Mari takes another look at the sculpture. She notices the necklace with the heart pendant. Leo enters and starts to cover the sculpture of Luci. Mari asks him to wait a minute. She asks about the pendant. He says he never said anything to her because of the pain it caused.
TNNSTL has a name—Seti Hidalgo. He’s come to see Ed and ask about a certain document that came from this office—the last will and testament of Don Manuel Salvatierra. Dum-de-dum-dum.
On the way into the Halls of Justice, Mari runs into Santi and Al leaving. She informs Santi that his girlfriend is crazy. Flo gave her a g-force slap for seeing Santi. She wants him to explain to Flo that the two of them are *not* seeing each other. And of course, she hit her back. Oh, and by the way, she assumes they were there to help sink Noé deeper into the muck. Al says no, there were there to help him, but there is evidence against him. Mari asserts it was probably fabricated and accuses them of being no better than their father. Noé isn’t in jail for stealing money from Dem, he’s there so he won’t bring charges against Dem for abusing Lety. Caras de Impactadas de Santiago y Alonso.

Well, folks, that’s it for Anita for awhile. I’ll be on hiatus and incommunicado for the most part of 2 ½ weeks, but will be back. So, turning this over to Blue Lass, who will keep you entertained as no one else can. If any of you wish to make expanded comments that can serve as a short recap, I'm sure Blue Lass will be appreciative.

Comments:
Have fun with whatever you are doing on your hiatus, Anita. Thanks for the recap.

Fist fight! That is almost as good as face slapping.

Uh oh, Denise went *there* about Leonardo and his feelings for Mariela and Carmen quickly followed.

Demián didn’t miss a beat in asking Renata for a power of attorney so he could invest her “inheritance.”

Funny: Sara telling Renata to not bother waiting up for Alonso as she led him away.

On we roll.

Anita, thank you. I have not been able to watch the show this week , so I really appreciate your recaps.

I thought that Leo was looking at Mari like a love sick puppy. However, she is destined for Al.

Renata is certainly stirring the pot.Every telenovela has a resident bad girl troublemaker.

So many gems in this one. A wonderful going away present for us before you leave on your trip.

"He should know she’s bad news and bad news travels fast around town (especially if Karla is driving the train)."

Denise and her big red lips sink down on the couch...

(It's too late to put that tequila back in the bottle.)

He’s thinking, we think. We can’t really tell, but we can be pretty sure Mari is rolling around in his head.

Just a treat. Enjoy your time off Anita, and we will enjoy Blue Lass' irreverent take on the doins' in Puebla.

Anita, thanks and have a wonderful time "away". I was away from the show for the last several days so your hard work has saved me from being totally confused now that I can pick up again.
Welcome, Blue Lass!

Renata reminds me of a wonderful character in Days of Our Lives many years ago. My little niece stood by the TV one day and announced "That Miss Kitty is a nasty woman!" It has become a family laugh line ever since!

I love our menagerie of creepy females: the octopus, the scorpion and the spider. If all three of them get together, watch out!

Some of you have not been on the blog line like enough to know Carlos, but he was a great recapper and commenter and a great friend to many. He passed away Wednesday of a heart attack. His wife, whom he always referred to as "the lovely Linda" was at his side. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him well. Truly one of a kind.

Oh dear, JudyB. I'm so sad to get that news. He was one of a kind. I'm so glad you found out and shared that before I left. I still think of Madelaine often. Carlos will also be in my thoughts for a long, long time. Please pass on to his family and the lovely Linda our deepest sympathies to her and the family.

JudyB--Thank you again, for this. Please note that over on PASL in the comments for last night's episode (Jun 28), there are already numerous remembrances of Dr. Carlos.

Judy: My deepest condolences to the family & I'm sorry to hear about Dr. Carlos. Do you know when funeral services will be announced ?

I think they will be having a private memorial service at the ranch Steve.

JudyB - oh no! Thank you for telling us about Carlos. He was a great Patio member and I will miss him.

Anita - I hope your vacay from the Patio will be a good one. Thank you for your recaps this week. I'm almost caught up on watching.

Blue Lass - I'm looking forward to reading your recaps. Apparently your reputation precedes you. LOL

Heat wave here, heat warnings + humidity, we were surprised to see this stuff is all the way up to Minnesota!!! Weather patterns are crazy. I am so very grateful for air-conditioning.

Doris, Carlos really stopped commenting a number of months ago as his health gradually worsened. One or two remarks on the last telenovela before Por Amar Sin Limites. And he was watching the latter-- (still a fan of Ana Brenda's dimples) but no longer adding to any discussions.

I have gone back to reading the hilarious Fuego en la Sangre recaps and comments just to cheer myself up. The Patio was HUGE back in those days. Feeling nostalgic and blue right now.

And of course it's hot and humid here too but I'm going to have to wear long sleeves and pants down to babysit today because Li'l Will's mom and dad keep the thermostat down to a frost level (for this old granny anyway)

JudyB - I had forgotten the FELS recaps were here at Caray. That show certainly left an impression in ALL of us, didn't it? LOL. I still think of Dr. Hot Lips every time I see Sofía Vergara on a TV commercial. 😊 I'll have to browse those when I have time. It would be lots of fun if looneyvision would rerun that for us.

Does anyone know if you can view Corazon ON DEMAND? I cant seem to find it there.

I have Comcast and it is not OnDemand.

Doris, go back and read Julie's #11 Tonight on "House" recap. I laughed so hard I thought I would injure myself. Some of Ferro's are incredible too. Well, they are all good, because every recapper is just frothing at the mouth about how bad the show is.
But I thought House was a masterpiece.

Mini-Recap for Friday, June 29th: Part 1

Sometimes Elena isn't seen for days, but today *everyone* sees her. Sara gives her a feminist lecture about quitting, then Rogelio boxes her ears for staying. Leo finds her crying outside the church and takes her to Mari, who patches her up and sends her home, where Julio sees her bruises and takes off after Rog. In the final scene, Rog is beating the crap out of an injudicious Julio when he is called off by Alonso, who rings an ambulance. Whew.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in Puebla...

There's a big face-off at the police station with Dem and Ed crying theft and Mari, Lety and Amalia crying rape. Liso and Ed finally broker a deal in which everyone drops the charges and Noe is released. The honest cop is exasperated. The bronca continues at the Moliner home, where Liso threatens to both quit and move out. We shall see. Cute cupid's-bow lips don't pay the bills, guapo.

In another heartwarming family gathering, Al and Santi do not immediately dismiss the idea of their father being a rapist, which has gotta sting. Sara retreats to figurative Switzerland and says she can't take sides without proof, but we know what she really thinks.

Rafi asks Sara QTH happened to the cook, and Sara tells her to ask Rog, she's his mujer. Rafi displays surprise that a creep like Rog could manage to attract a mujer, and Sara gets off the zinger of the day: "If Dem can find one, anyone can."

Mini-Recap for Friday, June 29th: Part 2

Dem calls Ren in to sign the power of attorney and discovers that Daddy's money is tied up in some kind of long-term investments and is essentially untouchable (unlike Ren herself, who has been wandering around the house in a pair of thigh-high boots large enough to contain her entire wardrobe of filmies.)

Carla tells Rafi that Ren told Flo that Santi was seeing Mari. Even Rafi has a hard time following that, but she doesn't deny it. She reassures Carla that Dem would never allow either of his sons to take up with "la tal Mariela." Famous last words

The not-so-tipsy lawyer goes to see Ed and acts bluff and affable, but Ed is nervous and asks Dem what to do. I don't predict a long career for el pobre de NSTL. He doesn't know who he's tangling with.

Mini-Recap for Friday, June 29th: Part 3

Ren stalks Al all over town, leaving phone messages, grilling the secretary, and finally cornering him at the fountain in the dark and peppering him with questions. He blows her off.

Leo decides to send Lucy's head to Barcelona, which greatly pleases the Octopus.

Mari goes to see Al at his office to return the heart pendant that belonged to his mother. The tiny violin plays the theme song. Cara de impactado de Alonso. In case anyone misses the symbolic sledgehammer, SHE IS GIVING HIM HER HEART BECAUSE IT REALLY BELONGS TO HIM. Yowza! And that's why we keep coming back.

***y punto***

Whoops! Forgot the mike-drop: Liso tells Mari it was love at first sight, and she tells him to quit kidding himself: he's not attracted to her...or any girl.

So now how do we get Cristian down to Puebla...?

Thanks, Blue Lass. You got it all!

Wow! Mariela knows Lisandro’s number even if he doesn’t. Too funny.

Why is it not surprising that Renata’s inheritance is some how not available???

Will sending Lucía on the road help the dark and brooding Leonardo? Probably not now that that Mariela has returned the heart to its rightful owner. . . As so nicely pointed out by Blue Lass.

Delightful Blue Lass. Thank you. They sure ended this episode with a bang Once again, we see that Mariela doesn't mince her words or hold back a single thought. Wow.

Some of my favorite lines:

"Sara retreats to figurative Switzerland and says she can't take sides without proof, but we know what she really thinks."

Yes, and I wish she's been a little less circumspect, but he IS the boys' father, so I suppose it was the right thing to do.

Love the zinger to Rafaela.."if Dem can fine one, anybody can." but that's forgetting that his first wife was her very own daughter and she stood by as her husband bullied Lucia into that marriage.

You're pretty good at zingers yourself lady---mentioning how Renata's inheritance is "essentially untouchable" unlike Renata herself

Perfect!

Only to be topped by:

The tiny violin plays the theme song. Cara de impactado de Alonso. In case anyone misses the symbolic sledgehammer, SHE IS GIVING HIM HER HEART BECAUSE IT REALLY BELONGS TO HIM. Yowza! And that's why we keep coming back.

Hey, we also keep coming back because of the fabulous recaps. So thank you! And take a bow.

Thank you, Blue Lass, for a hysterically funny and snarky recap!!!

”In another heartwarming family gathering, Al and Santi do not immediately dismiss the idea of their father being a rapist …” Yeesh!

”Carla tells Rafi that Ren told Flo that Santi was seeing Mari. Even Rafi has a hard time following that . . . .” Took me a while, too. ;-)

”Will sending Lucía on the road help the dark and brooding Leonardo?” And what will Leo have to fondle in ‘her’ place?

I've got to get busy and watch this episode this afternoon.

JudyB – Thanks! I just finished reading FELS Cap. #11, and that brought back so many good memories …. Pad Tad, Ninel Conde and her flotation devices, Pablo Montero butchering “Ave Maria", Crabi, Feo and his bad guy kit …. and the list goes on. Amazing how people are already in love by the 11th episode. Ah fun times !

Thanks, Blue Lass.

I recorded the show while we were ON vaca, but I feel asleep watching last night. One thing I did notice was that Mari walks funny in those very high heels. Maybe it's those tight tights she wears.

I love longhaired, lovelorn Leo. I am glad that he lost that multicolored sweater.

Judy, I have been thinking of CaRlos . I think that I will go back and read some of those old recaps. He was so witty . I remember that he once did a screencap of some despicable character on a balcony with the caption " jump. " I think he said that he knew that Julie and I would appreciate it. We had a lot of snarky recappers back in the day..Beckster, Ferro, Sylvia. Does Sylvia know about Carlos?

I'm caught up watching and I was all cara impactada indeed, at Mari's outing of Liso to himself. Who saw that coming? 😯

Elena must be the PSA for abusive relationships and domestic violence. Hopefully her son won't get himself killed by Rog, who is such a nasty piece of basura.

Yes Susanlynn...Sylvia knows about Carlos. At least she knew when he first went into intensive care in the hospital. However she is sailing so it is only occasionally that she can get her emails, so she may not know yet that he has passed away. I am trying to be happy that he no longer has tubes and needles to contend with, but it is hard to think of a world in which Carlos is not around, making me laugh with his wry observations. He dubbed my latest grandchild, Will, as Li'l Will, which charmed me. Only one Carlos. Alas.

I love the "Jump!" story. I had forgotten that.

Ah, Silvia! It was Sílvia Shark Bait, right? Now that is a name from the past. JudyB, it is so good that you have kept In contact with everybody. Even though I did not know these patio members well, I remember them fondly and am happy to hear how they are doing.

Judy B, thanks for the news of Dr. Carlos passing. He was a wonderful, entertaining recapper and member of the patio. We'll miss him, but also wishing "que descanse en paz".

Jardinera...yep, Cap'n Silvia Sharkbair. Those names all date from Pasión times, Susanlynn had a saucy name as did Jardinera. And there was a long grief period when Pasión ended and the trainwreck that was Fuego en la Sangre began. But the Fuego recaps and the outraged comments make terrific reading when you have the blues.

La Paloma, yes I am hoping and praying that our Carlos is at peace. His only daughter died last year, suddenly, unexpectedly of a heart attack.

In truth, what lies next is a mystery, but I am hoping that they are reunited in the next world. And while I'm at it, I'm hope his dear little pitbull Bonnie Belle, who was the subject matter of several wonderful calendars, is with them both also.

Sometimes it seems as if my heart is holding a lot of empty chairs, where once beloved friends and family once sat. But "la vida sigue" as our telenovelas always remind us, so on we go. While we can.

Need to proofread! SharkbaiT I'm hoping

I remember Cap'n Sylvia Sharkbait! Didn't she once write an entire recap in pirate-speak, mateys?

Oh, dear judy, do you know how much your wit and wisdom have meant to me over the years? You have a golden heart, for sure. You remind me that despite the sadness , despair, and brutality in the news, good people still exist.

I am so sorry to hear about Carlos's daughter. I was wondering why you mentioned his nephew and not her. I remember Carlos commenting about her wild head of hair..red???? I also remember his many comments about his beloved Bonnie Belle.

I was Mad Bess , but as I recall, Sylvia preferred to refer to me as Mad Buns or something like that. We got our pirate names from a pirate name generator that I found online. Sylvia and I were pirate crazed. Such silly fun.

As you say, the list of lost loved ones from our convoy through life keeps growing.

Isn't there a quote... "I can't go on . You must go on. I'll go on."

"To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die." . ..Navajo saying
