Papa A Toda Madre #99: The Curious (And "Magical") Case of Fabian Carvajal

Or Daddy and Mommy Vs Daddy

The judge informs everyone present that Anifer must not leave the city during the custody hearing and he authorizes that Fabian be able to see Anifer once a day during the proceedings. Everyone nods, and Jorge goes to tell the judge something as Mauricio and Maria wait outside, stressing out about the whole ordeal. Jorge arrives a few seconds later and reveals some good and bad news. The good: Mauricio can be present during Anifer’s visits with Fabian. The bad: Anifer will be stripped of the Lopez-Garza last name. Mauricio shakes his head, dejected.

Pablo shows Lili their recently painted room and she smiles because it looks a lot bigger, with more light. Lili assumes their accommodations will be temporary as she receives a text message from Baldo. Pablo thinks they should have told Jorge that they were moving in today, but Lili reminds him that they are close, and they needed their space. Pablo nods and smiles, touching her stomach, and wishing that their family grows soon. Lili then asks to go to the bathroom but is horrified to find out that the bathroom is outside their room and it’s shared. Pablo shrugs, unsure of what to say.

Maria encourages Mauricio not to get depressed because Anifer knows who her real father. She proposes that they draft up a certificate of guardianship for him, as soon as the custody battle is over, but Mauricio still looks sad. Jorge stands behind them, silent.

Rodrigo and Rafael bring Manuela and Ryan to their new house. There is balloons everywhere and Manuela couldn’t be happier, but Ryan looks angry about the whole thing. The guys then go to show the kids their room but, since it’s completely decorated to suit a little girl, Ryan declares that he is not sleeping there. Rodrigo and Rafael wonder how to solve the problem.

In her room, Mauricio fills in Anifer on what the judge decided regarding her supervised visits with Fabian. Anifer thinks she will be able to talk Fabian into dropping the whole case, and even loving her mother again, but Mauricio tells her that it won’t happen because things have changed. He proposes she talk to Fabian about her things, and that’s it, before declaring that she turned him into a father and it’s the best thing that ever happened to him. Anifer, with tears in her eyes, hugs Mauricio, tight.

Renee goes to visit Noel and tells him that she hopes to leave his situation resolved before leaving Mexico. Noel asks her to sit because he’s not the same young man he once was, and she now has things to fight for in Mexico, her family. Renee considers this.

At Jorge’s, Dulce shows Baldo the ticket to Tijuana she bought him and reveals that she also found his IDs, so he can leave her house, ASAP. Baldo knew he had his IDs but drops the subject and reminds her that he still needs his money. Dulce threatened to evict him if he doesn’t grab his things and leave right this instant.

Noel tells Renee that she should consider her options, but he will give her all the rights to his robot design so that she has no legal troubles. Renee thanks him but thinks there is still plenty of things to resolve before she can leave. Either way, Noel wants to give her the design, because they also belong to her, as his daughter. Renee nods and then wonders if he knows how Fabian stole Logatoys from Mauricio. Noel doesn’t but he isn’t surprised that Fabian would stoop so low, which is why he wants to dedicate his time to be her father, not Fabian’s. Renee wants to know why Noel wants to be for her what he wasn’t for Fabian. Noel is quiet.

Baldo tells Dulce that he can also call the police on Jorge, for stealing their money, but Dulce thinks he should do it and proposes to be Baldo’s lawyer. Baldo is shocked to hear that Dulce would throw Jorge under the bus so quickly, when Yuriria never did, but Dulce thinks his mother was no saint. Baldo reminds her that Dulce stole Jorge, but Dulce doesn’t care and warns him to leave by week’s end or else. Baldo storms off.

Anifer and Fabian talk and play as Maria stands close by. Fabian asks for some space and Maria walks away for a bit as Anifer wonders why he wants to take her away from Mauricio. Fabian reminds her that he is her real father, not Mauricio, but Anifer proposes they be friends because she wants Mauricio to be her father. Fabian thinks Maria must’ve told her horrible things about him but all he wants is to be a family with her and Maria. Anifer would love if her parents were together and Fabian smiles before telling her that he loves her mother, which is why she was born, and she even has a grandfather. Anifer is happy to hear it and she loves that Renee is also her aunt. Fabian cheers with her and declares that, while she only had a mother before, she now has a giant family. Anifer smiles but Maria looks annoyed.

Rafael tries to find a solution with Ryan by proposing they put up a poster of his favorite sports team, but Manuela wants to know what to call them. She thinks they should be “Papa Rodrigo” and “Papa Rafael” but Ryan wants to just call them by their names. Rodrigo doesn’t care, he just wants them to feel comfortable, as does Rafael. He tries to shake Ryan’s hand, but Ryan is cold and distant.

Some time later, Fabian tells Anifer that magic is real and, if you wish it hard enough, things can happen, like when he wishes he can walk. Anifer promises to wish him a speedy recovery and Fabian smiles before asking for a kiss. He then tells Anifer to wish that he can walk again, together, and she does but Maria looks seasick by this point.

That night, Anifer prays at the dinner table as Mauricio wonders what she’s doing. Anifer tells him that she is wishing for Fabian’s recovery and for everything to get resolved soon. She asks Mauricio not to interrupt her and continues praying.

At Jorge’s, Dulce reveals to Jorge that Lili left, without even saying goodbye, and then tells him that the twins have been asking for their money though she thinks he shouldn’t give it to them because it’s too much and they would waste it. Jorge reminds her that it’s her decision and then shows her the divorce papers, which he already signed, and wants her to sign. Dulce, however, wants to fight and warns Jorge that she knows about alimony and such things and getting her to sign the papers won’t be easy. Jorge cringes at the thought.

Mauricio goes into his room and finds Renee waiting for him in bed. He smiles wide and runs to bed, but Renee stops him and asks if he doesn’t think it’s weird to be sharing a bed with her again. Mauricio doesn’t care who knows, even Maria, and Renee chides him for saying those things and asks him to hug her. He obliges and tells her that he wants to do things to her but she still things it’s weird and asks him for a hug. He sighs deep but obliges.

The next day, Jorge argues in front of the judge that Fabian is ill equipped to be a father, as he has violent tendencies, and even kidnapped and tried to brainwash the little girl. He argues that he may be a danger to Anifer but Fabian’s lawyer, Garcia, explains that Fabian took desperate measures because he couldn’t see his daughter. The judge nods but tells them that he wants to interview Anifer himself, with only a child psychologist present, and someone she trusts that isn’t Mauricio, Fabian, or Maria. All three wonder who this person can be.

At Neron’s, Neron and Flor call Melina and pretend to be looking for Pablo’s father to offer him a job he was recommended for. Melina is confused but Neron asks if there is a phone he could speak to him directly.

At school, Tono talks to his son’s class about his job, and tells all the kids that his life would be very boring without kids because his job is super boring, and he always counts the hours until he goes home. The teacher smiles slightly but wonders where this is going as Tono tells the kids about one of the times he escaped his school and the fun adventures he had.

Melina demands to know who he is and how he knows Pablo’s father and Neron reveals that he’s Pablo’s friend and his friend is very sad because his father won’t see or talk to him. Neron begs her to tell him where he can locate him, but Melina reveals that Pablo’s father called ICE on Pablo because he doesn’t want to see him and hangs up. As she does, Melina cries.

Later, the judge interviews Anifer in front of Renee and the psychologist. He asks her what a typical day with Mauricio and Maria consists of and she states that she always has a good time with them. She then tells the judge that Maria and Mauricio used to fight a lot, when he was Renee’s boyfriend, but then he was Maria’s boyfriend, and now all of them get a long and they all live together. The judge is shocked to hear that Mauricio, and his two previous love interests, live together with Anifer. Renee cringes in the background as the psychologist’s eyebrows shoot up at the unorthodox living situation.

Tono meets with his friend from school about the possible job in his company. They both agree that children are very demanding but the presentation at his son’s school went great. Tono wonders if he has a talent for talking in front of children.

At school, the cocaine guy from the other night finds Baldo and demands he pay him for the merchandise. Baldo explains that he doesn’t remember when he gave him the cocaine but explains that he did consume the drugs and will pay him tomorrow. The guy nods but warns him to pay him tomorrow or else.

As everyone waits outside the courtroom, Fabian laughs because Mauricio looks nervous for once in his life. Mauricio demands he shut up and they start fighting as Anifer and Renee arrive. Anifer wonders if they were fighting again but everyone laughs off her concern. Fabian then thanks Anifer because, thanks to her love and care, his life changed for the better and she made him a better person. Anifer smiles as Fabian promises to be the best father he can for her. He then tells her that her magic is a miracle in his life and gives her a surprise: he can walk! Everyone cringes as Anifer cheers because her biological father is walking. Renee tells Anifer that they have to go and Anifer obliges as Fabian thanks her again.

Moments later, Renee pulls Anifer aside and tells her that, while it’s great that her father is walking, things aren’t always what they appear. Anifer understands and explains that her magic caused her father to walk again. Renee shakes her head and explains that Fabian’s therapy is what helped him walk again but Anifer thinks her magic helped her father walk. Renee is surprised to hear Anifer call Fabian “dad” but Anifer doesn’t think it’s strange as he is her father.

In the courtroom, the judge announces that, while Maria will still have Anifer’s custody, he will analyze the proof against her and, should any of Fabian’s allegations be true, he will immediately gain Anifer’s custody over Maria. He suggests they come to a friendly accord outside of court, but Mauricio can’t bring himself to negotiate with a monster such as Fabian.

Later, Mauricio finds Fabian outside of the courtroom and demands to know why he wants to stay with Anifer, just to spite him, but Fabian explains that he just wants to be with his daughter. Mauricio just thinks he wants his life, like he always has, but Fabian wants his daughter and reminds Mauricio that Anifer is his biological daughter and, therefore, his family. He suggests Mauricio go and have kids with Renee and ask Maria to call him, so they can talk without the legal proceedings.

At Jorge’s, the kids tell Jorge that Dulce went to the mall and Jorge nods as Baldo begs him to give him some money because he needs $1,000.00 ASAP. Jorge demands he lower his voice and tell him why he needs the money but Baldo doesn’t tell him and walks away.

Later, Jorge goes to the bank to check on the funds of Baldo’s and Lili’s account, but the representative tells him that she can’t help him with his request because Dulce’s legal proceedings have frozen the account. She shows him the judge’s orders to freeze the account and Jorge is shocked.

Fabian calls Maria, so they can talk things over regarding Anifer’s custody, but Maria doesn’t want to hear it. She prefers a long trial, if it means he can’t see Anifer again, but Fabian proposes they talk because he has no problems with her. Maria reminds him that she must talk to Mauricio first and, either way, she regrets that she let him get close to her daughter and doesn’t want to talk to him again. She hangs up and Fabian calls his lawyer to tell him what happened. His lawyer tells him to convince Maria to settle but Fabian tired of being patient and demands he act because Maria won’t stay with Anifer if he can help it.

That night, Lili is unpacking the groceries when Pablo arrives and greets her with a kiss. He goes to lay down, because he’s exhausted, but she tells him to come eat first. He smiles and gets up but frowns when Lili asks him for more money because she spent all the money he gave her already. He tells that precooked food is more expensive than if she would’ve bought everything raw and made a meal from scratch. He then reveals that all the money he gave her was supposed to be for the whole week but now they must wait for his next salary.

Dulce arrives home and Jorge tells her that he knows about her demand against him though Dulce doesn’t care because she warned him he was going to take him for all he’s worth. In fact, she’s going to take all the money in the twins’ account as payment for him cheating on her before their wedding. Jorge reiterates that he is going to divorce her, no matter what, and Dulce knows it’s to get back with Kika, Jorge nods and Dulce suggests that he go get financial help from his wherever-she’s-from because he’s going to need it. Jorge nods again and tells Dulce to leave his house if she’s going to play hardball because, he was going to leave her the house, but not anymore.

At Mauricio’s, Renee tells him that it might not be a bad idea to negotiate with Fabian, if anything, they’ll know how far he will go, but Mauricio doubts it because he’s sick of Fabian’s games, and how shady he’s being. Renee doesn’t think it’s the right time, but she reveals that Anifer called Fabian “dad” inadvertently that afternoon. Mauricio curses Fabian for his mind games but refuses to let him win.

The next day, Baldo asks Jorge for the thousand dollars again, for books, but Jorge wants to know the names of the books. Baldo demands he get the money for him, because the money is his anyway, but Jorge reveals that Dulce froze all the accounts in his name, so he doesn’t have access to Baldo’s money. Baldo curses Dulce, who is mad at Jorge, but taking it out on everyone.

Tono’s friend from school takes him his new contract to his new office and gives it to Tono to look over. Tono does but looks at his family photo and smiles.

At Anitoys’ new headquarters, Mauricio shows Jorge the new company that could manufacture their toys and Jorge nods because they look good and efficient. Jorge proposes they ask Tono to dedicate more hours, even if he did start his new job, and bring Gladys over as well because she’s integral to their team and they can, at least, pay her 4 months of salary. Tono arrives then and reveals that it was his first and last day at his desk job because he’s sick of the corporate lifestyle. Jorge nods, because now he can help them out more, but Tono has something to present to him first. He asks the men to sit down so they can talk.

At the cul-de-sac, all the women have a party for the kids with Rodrigo and Rafael, who provides a pasta disk. They instruct the kids to go wash their hands as the women ask them how things are going. Rafael admits that it has been a struggle but they all agree that they all started out like that and things got better. Rodrigo looks at Ryan, who seems dazzled by all the decorations they laid out and wonders how he’s doing.

At the entrance of the cul-de-sac, Baldo arrives home, frantic to get away from someone when the drug dealer arrives and demands his money again. Baldo promises to give it to him and the dealer tells him that he will come back for his money as Baldo runs home. Across the way, Maria notices the dealer and asks Rafael if he knows him. Rafael shakes his head, but Rodrigo tells them that he’s a police officer, so they have nothing to worry about if strangers come knocking. Maria nods but looks worried as Renee serves drinks for all the children.

Baldo arrives home, screams Dulce’s name, confirms she’s in the bathroom, and then goes into the master bedroom to take money of out her purse. Dulce walks in then and silently films him take money out of her purse. She laughs at the fact that he’s a thief as well as Baldo wonders what to do.

Maria goes home and answers a call from Fabian, much to her chagrin. Fabian asks her not to hang up because he wants to warn her that the police are coming to Mauricio’s house because someone called them, anonymously, and told them Mauricio was selling drugs from there. Maria doesn’t believe him, but Fabian tells her that the police are coming with trained dogs and they will sell the drugs. He then instructs her to open up the couch cushions and Maria is shocked to find drugs inside. He tells her that there are other packages hidden inside the house and she will meet someone worse than him when the police arrive and find them. Maria wonders what to do.

Dulce takes the money away from Baldo and wonders if her mother didn’t teach him any manners. Baldo reminds her that he’s just taking back the money she stole by freezing Jorge’s account, but Dulce thinks he should work to earn his money. She warns him that she is going to call the police officers, so they can arrest him, and she has video proof. Baldo thinks she’s overexaggerating but Dulce thinks he’s just a criminal like Lili.

Renee and Rafael sit down to eat with the kids and they both agree that the drug dealer hanging outside the cul-de-sac has been outside for too long and they’re worried. Rafael calls Rodrigo over to tell him.

Baldo chases Dulce around the house as he tries to get her cell phone to no avail. Baldo can’t believe she is still trying to ruin his life after she took away her father from them for years. Dulce announces that Jorge was hers to begin with and he loved her a lot more than he ever loved Yuriria.

Fabian asks Maria to chose because the police are on the way to the cul-de-sac and she can go to jail or live with him and Anifer. Maria can’t believe he called the police, but Fabian tells her that he isn’t bluffing and everyone in Mauricio’s house will pay the consequences of her decision. Just then, police cars with sirens arrive and Fabian asks Maria to look out her window.

Ryan pushes Ernesto and demands he give him his toy because he’s the boss, but they can’t continue arguing because police cars arrive then as Maria runs outside and sees them. Maria demands Fabian tell her what he wants from her and he tells that she knows her options and she better decide because she has just enough time to hide all the drugs before the police find them…

Alfredo: Only way to stop Dulce is to kill her!

Alfredo, thank you for this excellent recap, I'm much better caught up on what I unenthusiastically watched tonight. Another depressing episode, but I'm sure it's to prepare us for some justice to be meted out. I'm glad you were paying attention because I wasn't always.

Steve, you could be right.

Lili, you and I seem to have the same problem, we walk around in another world at times. I'm trying mindfulness meditation, we'll see if it helps. So, you were in that room, looked around, walked around, and never noticed there was no bathroom. OK.

It's not really important, but did I sleep through or fast forward through the scene where Brian agrees to live with R&R? Or was it Looneycision again? Maybe it does matter a little, it might explain why Rodrigo and Rafa decorated the room just for a little girl. Duh, guys.

Ah, we got to see Melina again. Maybe this means there will be some resolution to this issue. Maybe.

More tomorrow. No, that's not a threat.

:-)

Alfredo, I just have to say that I absolutely love the title of this recap.

Irene

P.S: I don't watch this telenovela, but just had to comment upon seeing the title.

Thank you Alfredo..great title..... great retelling.

Anifer's voice hit a new decibel level when Fab dad got up out of that wheelchsir. I set down my glass of lemonade because I feared that it might break.

Dulce is just nasty.

More later...yawn.

Alfredo, thank you. This was excellent. The title could not be more perfect. Also, thank you for the names of R and R’s two kids.

Wow, this moved last night.

Stupid actions/inaction of the past are back biting—

María and Mauricio who are really feeling the results of being “nice for old times sake or for fear of retaliation” for not filing any charges against Fabián 🐍 for any of the crimes he committed.

Baldo for getting drunk 🥃 and thinking drugs are free? 😳

Jorge who has inadvertently empowered Dulce 🐍 by his hesitation to act/talk/react/live. 😶

Lili who had no idea of how good she had it at Jorge’s and who is about to learn how to share the bathroom 🚽 down the hall and shop for groceries and 🛒cook if she wants to eat.

I am actually looking forward to tonight’s episode since I get to recap it.

Time for some café. ☕️ Looks like it was an emoji day!

Thanks as always Alfredo. You always come up with such apt titles. I often found that the hardest part of writing a recap...WHAT to call it? But you have a real knack for that.

When I was younger and gallivanting around Europe, I thought nothing of living in maid's rooms where the bathroom was down the hall and shared, but at this age, wow, that would be a nightmare. Kind of like when I was staying with my children and their newborn this Fall and had to negotiate the stairway of doom multiple times a night to go. And I'm sure with Lili being pregnant, it's a somewhat similar situation. Plus how can she cook? Does the room have a hot plate. Or fridge?

Haven't seen this yet. We're working through a crisis with our pet cat. But enjoyed the recap. Wishing everybody a happy day. It's going to be sunny and mild here and our Kizzie is in her little bed, warmed by the sun that is coming through the skylight.

Alfredo, you are the greatest.

Perfect title and the recap was simply sterling. Start to finish.

"Renee cringes in the background as the psychologist’s eyebrows shoot up at the unorthodox living situation" was just one example of your excellent writing style.

"Mauricio...before declaring that she turned him into a father and it’s the best thing that ever happened to him. Anifer, with tears in her eyes, hugs Mauricio, tight". I had tears on reading that as well.

"Baldo tells Dulce that he can also call the police on Jorge, for stealing their money, but Dulce thinks he should do it and proposes to be Baldo’s lawyer". So, my question is, to what lower depths can Dulce and Fabian sink to? They are already crawling on their bellies, slithering...

"Tono arrives then and reveals that it was his first and last day at his desk job". How nice to be able to start and quit a job on a whim. Luxury most of us will never experience. Sigh.

I am very afraid for Baldo. I have to admit I do care. When the dealer showed up at school, the actor's face mirrored sheer terror. I am completely lost here though. Rod identified Baldo's "dealer" as a policeman. So, why is he doing this to Baldo? Can someone help me please?

A harsh dose of reality for Lili and Ryan. Sharing a bathroom and realizing, oh my, I will need to actually prep meals myself are but the beginning for Lil must share with his sister. The kid is being thrust into a world that he is totally uncomfortable with. It will take some getting used to. Andy, I'm not sure Ryan had a choice. They were a package deal

Enjoyed your emojis Jarifa! Your examples of "Stupid actions/inaction of the past are back biting" were perfect.

Andy, I did the Mindfulness thing. It's a great idea, but trying to find the time to keep it up is challenging for me.

So how is Maria going to solve her problem? I don't think she has much choice as Fab has her backed into a corner. Again.

I can't see Renee leaving. Problems just keep going and going. She is the one common thread between Noel, Fabian and Anifer. She is going to need to do a lot of mending.

Alfredo, you are the best. Thank you.

Diana

"providing feline palliative care keeping the kleenex handy". Ahh Judy. So lovely. I've been wondering how Kizzie made out.

And your astute eye picked up on things I hadn't thoughtto look for. No, I don't recall any appliances at all! Looks like cold sammies for Lili and Pablo.

Diana

I'll comment when I have time, I'm on hold with the Miss America Pageant right now.

OK Kirby.

No more bathing suits. The end of an era.

From beauty pageant to brain pageant.

Yikes, there is no negotiating with those Nazis. (Just playing)
Bird ? Feeder-------------------------------->

ThankYou Alfredo. I would have never known the deqaler was a cop otherwise, though it does not matter.

So D'ulcer opens a door close enough to Baldo to almost bump his elbow and he does not notice? What's up with his peripheral vision?

So Fab planted drugs? LOTS of drugs? Ridiculous
Anifer now Luurves Fab? Can't fool kids and dogs? Ridiculous
Renee has done about everything but sleep with Noel and he is still an ass? Ridiculous
Fabian has no income but can buy half a million dollars worth of drugs and has a Lawyer working for him full time? Ridiculous

So now does Miss America go the way of grammar school sports where there will be 52 of them crowned? As every one is now a winner?

"From beauty pageant to brain pageant".

I have my own brain which I'm happy with, so that is not what interests me the most ! Woof

Kirby, perfect squirrel portrait.

Jarifa, thanks. FWIW, that is BIRD seed you are eating by the handfuls Mr. Fuzzy-Tailed Rodent.

Squirrels are very camera friendly while they are stealing food. A squirrel will run in front of a speeding car for one peanut.

Fuzzy tail rodent! Exactly!

Maybe more like fuzzy tailed RAT. :-)

Very true!

Thank you Alfredo! That was great how you covered the courtroom drama with Fabian's antics. I am quite upset and puzzled with how the writers have portrayed Anifer just being "SO HAPPY" to have Fabian as a father and she just fawns all over him! In real life, if a kid finds out who the sperm doner is, a real kid would not be running to the sperm doner's arms. It's just that simple. But everything is all good with Anifer in this story. Then they have her as so precocious and smart about all the "adult things" but then they have her believing that her "magic" made Fabian walk. This is just so stupid.

Well the least Rafa and Rod could have done was to decorate only half the room like a girl and make the other half look like action/adventure, Star Wars, Hotwheels, WWE---something! Brian wants to be masculine, not feminine.

I think Pablo was too harsh on Lili for scolding her on spending too much on prepared foods. After all, do they have pots and pans and cooking utensils? Does she have a comál and rolling pin for making tortillas? How about knives for chopping vegatables and a big pot for "caldo"? I think Lili is learning that she isn't willing to live "poor" and lower her standard of living. Especially with a baby coming! This is not like the song by Sonny and Cher; "And even though we don't have a pot, at least I'm sure of all the things of got. I've got you babe! I've got you babe!"

And I'm still of the opinion that I hope that Isauro comes back and shoots Dulce to put her out of her misery and everyone else's. I know that's mean, but it's only a TN! :) She had no right to freeze the twins trust fund accounts.

Good Day, Patio! Mr. AAA, thank you for such a great telling of last night's sordid events.

Seems like every one is getting at taste of reality...welcome to the real world in TNLandia...from Lili's shock at having to share a bathroom to Baldo's look of disbelief at having to pay for that crap he bought and poured down the drain.

Kirby, I agree about all the ridiculous things these writers are trying to pull...as if we didn't have brains.

SusanLynn, I agree about Anifer's voice...so irritating! And what happened to that savvy, adult-like child who couldn't be fooled??? She's now this naive little girl who wants her mommy and daddy to live with her...happily ever after...Blechh!

Busy day...more later...

Good afternoon, everybody! Alfredo, I forgot to mention how much I liked your alt title "Daddy and Mommy Vs Daddy".

I could be wrong (highly probable in fact, based on past results), but I think Rodrigo was saying don't worry about the unknown guy hanging out by the privada gate because he, Rodrigo, was a cop, not the guy at the gate.

Kirby, nice photo of the squirrel. I've heard it said that squirrels are like rats, but with good public relations. But I like them and especially enjoy seeing a squirrel couple working the neighborhood together. Kinda makes me think of Chip and Dale, though I'm not sure what kind of couple they were.
My brother once had a squirrel sneak into his kitchen and then hide and get stuck behind a cabinet or something. It took him quite some time to find and release the squirrel, but in the meantime the squirrel's Significant Other had shown up and chattered up one heck of a tirade outside in his back yard demanding Significant Other's release.

OT: Diana, yeah, finding time for meditation is sometimes difficult. And I'm often not mindful enough to even remember to be mindful :-)

:-)

andy

Andy, I did not see a scene where Brian agreed to go live with Rod and Rafa. If they showed one, I missed it. Or it's on a Mexican version and Univision did their cutting and pasting jobs. Somehow he just ended up with them and really doesn't want to be there. Can't say I blame him either. The scene too with his sister being "oh so thrilled" to be with 2 dads, rather than have a Mommy is just ridiculous too. All kids need a mother, period.

Cynthia, I was writing while you posted...I see we agree about Anifer...disgustingly annoying!

Shared bathroom, no kitchen, probably NO RUNNING WATER ? Motel 6 sounds luxurious by comparison.
Wait till their first night and they discover that electricity is extra !

PSA #777 'Look before you leap.'

Thus far the brain trust in this show is Kika and the doggy Tono killed.

Chickie, I know and I totally agree! And if I ever hear her voice again after this TN is over, it will be too soon. Her voice is so irritating. Sometimes I just want to muzzle that kid. ;)

Andy, "I think Rodrigo was saying don't worry about the unknown guy hanging out by the privada gate because he, Rodrigo, was a cop, not the guy at the gate." You're interpretation is correct. Rodrigo pointed to himself when he made that statement.

OK, thanks Andy and RGV for clearing that up about the dealer/cop. That is one less thing among many which does not make sense.

Actually we have not seen Rod doing much copping lately nor have we seen any evidence of Raf's veterinarian business either.

On closer examination, it appears nobody actually really WORKS in this cull-de-sack. Well, Vero and Tono, but they spent all their time on the floor.

If these people would spend more time doing something productive and less time making more little Mexicans.................nevermind.

Yes, thanks to Anifer that little speaker symbol with the line through it on the mute button on the remote is almost worn off.

Thank you Andy and Rgv Chick for pointing out Rod was referring to himself and not the drug pusher. I couldn't figure that out for the life of me. Thank heavens for our sharp eyed patio.

Andy, did Brian? Bryan? Ryan? have a choice in the adoption? I thought it was either a given or he gave in for his sister's sake, which is why we weren't shown anything. I'm not familiar with adoption policies but do children actually have a voice in who adopts them? It makes perfect sense but I have no idea.

I like squirrels and they eat companionably in our yard with the birds.

"Thus far the brain trust in this show is Kika and the doggy Tono killed" - good one Kirby!

Diana

Is anyone at Anifer's table with me on the patio?

I think she is adorable. Yes, precocious at times but is kind and loving. I know that Fabian is "new" to her but don't all little girls love their fathers (for the most part) with blind love and trust?

While people mature, I do believe there is a small spark, a light as to who they were as children. I think she is going to grow up to be a wonderful woman.

The little actress nailed this.

Diana

Diana, I'm not annoyed by Anifer like so many are.. And I agree that most little girls love their fathers with blind love and trust. She hasn't seen Fabian do anything obviously wicked...or else he gave her a plausible excuse for doing so.

They say you see people as you are. If you are innocent and childlike, you will take people at face value. So it makes sense to me that she would accept Fabian the way he is presenting himself to her at this moment.

But I'm basically naive. Always have been. So it's easy for me to believe in Anifer's gullibility.

Oh Judy, such true words...very well stated.

Anifer hasn't seen Fabian is all his true horror.

I am also naive and want to try and see the best in folks. Especially children.

We lose the glow of rose colored glasses all too soon. They should be part of every child's life and existence before life's harsh realities set in.

Anifer's gullibility wouldn't be so annoying if she had been initially presented as a cute, innocent, loving child from the beginning, rather than an annoying, BS-detecting, precocious mini adult with a grating voice. Her "my mama always says ..." also lulled us, BM (Before Maria), into believing that her mother was an all-seeing, all-knowing, wise, intelligent, kind no-nonsense guru and we get ... dumber-than-dirt, no-common-sense all-forgiving Maria.

Oh, well ... beanie's askew, gotta straighten it and tighten it ... he here we go! On to the finale!

"an annoying, BS-detecting, precocious mini adult with a grating voice".

Anon, I'm not quite sure what you are trying to say.

Does this mean you don't wish me to save you a seat? :)

Wha-hoppened?

We are asked to pretend to believe some of the most preposterous things for the sake of the plot.

Diana, I thought the other Anon was YOU and you just forgot to sign it. :-)

I agree that the little girl playing Anifer is a wonderful actress and plays the part extremely well. She does deserve an Emmy or the Mexican version of that. I just don't like her character and her little voice is irritating at times. I am sure she will grow up to do great things in the world of acting.

Great comments since I last dropped in on the patio.

I agree that a spark from childhood remains in our adult selves. I am pretty much the person I was when I was a little girl playing with dolls, cats, and dogs on the farm despite the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune that got me between then and now. I also can still see that spark in my own grown daughters and wonder if the personslities of my four grandgirls will remain the same as adults.

Thank you for your recap, Alfredo, and the clever title! First chance I’ve had all day to read it and I’ll never have time to watch the episode, so, millones de gracias!!! So much happened, sort of like overpacking a suitcase. 🤪😟

JudyB - I hope Kizzie Kitty will pull through. Pets are members of our family and it’s so hard to see them get sick or decline, and worse when they pass. ❤️❤️❤️

would have loved to see how jorge and lilly and the newborn would have worked out....too bad the ending is now here..
