Por Amar Sin Ley, 6/22/18 Chapters 81/82: “Take ‘em away, kitten!”

Part 1:

DOWN IN THE ALLEY:

El Ciego and El Gato have the brothers Dorantes on their knees, pistols to their heads. Do you know who’s boss now? Do you? El Ciego makes them say it. The Fat Man is in tears, but Jacinto remains stoic. El Ciego holds the gun steady and very deliberately pulls the trigger.

Click. The gun’s not loaded! El Ciego cracks up. What a card. He waves everyone off with an insouciant “¡Llévatelos, Gatito!” (“Take ‘em away, kitten!”)

BUFETE CARLOS:

Carlos is having it out with Alan about the missing money. Alan points out that he needed to keep the despacho running while Carlos was in prison – a nice prison, by the way, as prisons go, and for that he needed to call in favors. That’s what you do for family. Carlos tells him that if all of this isn’t above board (I’m guessing the Ibarras use that term loosely), he’ll manage to forget he’s family. Nice try at being menacing, Carlos, but we’ve seen the big dogs, and you’re not one of them.

T.O.H.I.M.C.

Elena continues to display the personality transplant they accidentally performed on her when they were just supposed to be stitching her up. I have behaved so badly! I wasn’t fair to you! Ricardo’s all decked out in black and blue, which seems appropriate. Some cop guy marches in and tells her she needs to come down to the station and make her statement. Elena shouts, pouts, and whines (guess it was just a partial personality transplant.) Ricardo promises she’ll be there.

COUGAR CAFÉ:

The jolly old gals are knocking back breakfast Bellinis and planning a big celebration for Paula’s birthday. All of Paula’s shindigs are blowouts, of course, but this one can’t be a “normal” party – it has to be “abnormal”! Hey, maybe they can get El Ciego. He knows some party tricks.

DEPARTMENTO RICARDO:

More tedious back-and-forth with Oli and Leo. He still wants a chance; she’s still being “loyal” to Alan. The kissy music starts up again. Apparently kissing doesn’t count. They kiss.

OFICINA ALEJANDRA:

Julieta has decided she doesn’t want a divorce. She loves the big lug, and after all, he was only unfaithful because he was drunk. Ale doesn’t seem to be aware that the writers are toying with her. The door doesn’t even bump Julieta’s butt on the way out before Carlos sweeps in, and Ale tells him all about it, of course. Because, boundaries? What are those?

He notes that she is preoccupied, and she spills the details of the Segura case as well: Nuria made an agreement, but now she’s going back on her promise. You have to be aggressive with these people, he advises her; that’s all they understand. He manages to insinuate himself into her personal space without tripping over the symbolism and macks all over her as usual. Sigh.

BUFETE VEGA:

Alonso and Gustavo go over their evidence and decide the easiest way to get to Jacinto is through his brother. Gus looks immensely satisfied at this additional nail in the coffin. (Ah, but whose coffin...?)

DEPARTAMENTO CARLOS:

El Ciego and his sidekick pop in to drop off a gym bag that miraculously does not contain a human head. El Ciego tells Carlos that the Dorantes brothers are back on the leash – which is where he’d better stay as well. After they leave, Carlos disconsolately pulls bills out of the bag, which incidentally matches his outfit perfectly. (Hey, I get it! He’s an accessory! Jajaja.)

RESTAURANTE VICBERTO:

Roberto and Victoria are on a date that she insists is not a date. He flirts slightly more sincerely than usual, while she resists slightly more weakly than usual. No significant developments. Maybe we’ll get something tomorrow, provided they aren’t called off to some crisis before dessert.

Part 2:

DEPARTAMENTO ELENA:

Ricardo delivers Elena back home, where the kids have been excitedly hanging up streamers and balloons. They're overjoyed to see her, and she continues to act repentant. She has made many errors, she tells them, but things are going to be different now that "we're all back together." It's not entirely clear which "we all" she's referring to. Has she really had an attitude change, or does she just feel as if she's won? Smarmy group hug. Ricardo looks concerned.

COUGAR CAFÉ:

The ladies have moved on to the guest list: Lourdes will bring Alonso and the shrimpy one will bring her heretofore-invisible husband. They all hope Ale will come with Ric and not Carlos, who Paula says is "like a bad headcold." All three of Paula's exes are invited. What could go wrong?

BUFETE VEGA:

At the weekly show & tell, Alonso informs the gang-minus-Ricardo that he plans to file a grievance against Benjamin. Lety is gobsmacked -- hasn't he suffered enough? The rest of the attorneys go along with Alonso's argument: he needs to protect the firm by proving that they had nothing to do with all of that dirty money. In fact, Carmen keeps the minutes from all the staff meetings, which will show that Benji never mentioned any of the work he was taking on outside the firm.

Asked about Rick, Olivia reports that he has taken Elena back home to recuperate. Lety makes a snide comment about how wonderful it is that the whole family is back together again, causing Alejandra to droop like a day-old flower. (Girl, there was about a nanosecond when everyone didn't hate you, but you blinked and missed it.)

DEPARTMENTO CARLOS:

Benjamin comes over on Carlos's orders to pick up the new sack o' pesos. They seem to agree that the whole candid-camera thing was "un error" but that nothing else needs to change, other than Benji being a lot more careful. Oh, and he should never, ever mention El Ciego. Benji tells Carlos that "after this is all over" he wants to come and work for the Ibarra firm. Like faithless suitors everywhere, Carlos tells him he wants to take it slow.

CASA NURIA:

After receiving a summons and a "see you in court" from Alejandra, Nuria's Dad invites Daniela over for talkies. Daniela arrives, lace-clad and optimistic, only to be roundly abused by Dad. You will never be part of my grandson's life! You have no right! Daniela fires back with threats of her own, and it's just the same old tired argument until Nuria appears out of nowhere and literally stabs her son's father in the back. And the front. And from a couple of acute angles. She's really getting into it.

As the curtain falls, Daniela lies on the ground like Lucia di Lammermoor, and Nuria's father stands with his hands over his face in horror. Looks like the local bufetes just got a couple of new clients.

Very Nice Blue: BTW in the staff meeting why was Vicky in there in her burgundy slip? Did she skip a step that morning? Or is her dress still in Lapel Boy's office?

Thanks, Blue Lass. Terrific part 1. My fave: Carlos tells him that if all of this isn’t above board (I’m guessing the Ibarras use that term loosely)

Sounds like Paula will invite all her exes to her Big Birthday Bash. Maybe that's what we'll get as a finale instead of a wedding.

Is Alan not as dumb as we think he is? He's certainly a cool liar under fire. I confess I like that thick gray hair of his.

Loved everything Blue, including the "juarever" title.

"Elena continues to display the personality transplant they accidentally performed on her when they were just supposed to be stitching her up."

I've decided Elena must have had a near-death experience during her coma. That's the only way to explain this COMPLETE ABOUT FACE. Annoyed that Ricardo felt he had to spend every waking moment with her. Was she not in a competent hospital? Who off-loads all their work on colleagues because their ex is being cared for in the hospital. And it's not like Ricardo is a doctor. ANNOYING.

In fact annoyed with everyone. (we must be in ultimos capitulos...this always happens)
The "three jolly old gals" need to get jobs, even if it's only volunteer work. All they do is sit around drinking and giggling like 12-year-olds. ANNOYING.

"Ale doesn't seem to be aware the writers are toying with her.... boundaries...what are those?" The beat goes on with Carlos and Alejandra. ANNOYING.

Olivia being all "whatshallIdo????" with Leo. ANNOYING You've been slavering and crying over him for eons, now that he comes around you're hesitating? For the gray-haired Pillsbury Doughboy? Get real!

{Roberto and Victoria] "He flirts slightly more sincerely than usual, while she resists slightly more weakly than usual." ANNOYING. Either give in or cut him loose Victoria. I'm getting tired of this and surely he is also.

Alright. That's enough Spleen Venting for now. Thoroughly enjoyed the recap part 1. Only the episode was.....ready for it...SUPREMELY ANNOYING.

Niecie, I love the idea of a big birthday bash finale. Lots of things always happen at parties (plus at least one person usually dresses inappropriately, and we can make fun of them. Not that we need to wait for a party to do that.)

Judy, I agree, everything does get annoying in ultimos -- and doubly or triply so when they appear to be stringing things out to drag them into season 2. Fish or cut bait, lackadaisical lovers! We're bored with you.

Gracias, Blue Lass.

This was a slice and dice of 81 and 82. Since I fully expect that Monday will be the same for 83 and 84 I will begin preparing for it after I finish watching a vampire movie online. Today's gloomy weather with possible thunderstorms is perfect for that.

I personally don't think that Elena's personality change will last. That would be a major cop-out on the writers' part and narcissists never change. Not that there is a mistake they haven't made yet....

So much for a conflict of interest regarding who represented Daniela. Alejandra was not employed by Vega when Ricardo represented Daniela, so where did that actually leave her now? She is also not a criminal law specialist and the point is now moot.

Not really a spoiler: Since the last scene is always the lead-in in the next episode, everyone watch the murder scene carefully for Monday night's discussion.

Leticia is still a bitch. Nothing in her conversation with Elena was said about Elena and Ricardo getting back together, but she still had to say that to hurt Alejandra, who bore her no ill will. We can't count on Ricardo and Alejandra getting back together at the end of the season due to the Mandatory Misunderstanding that always happens after the first-time sex of our protagonists.

Now, if Elena was in a coma or dead there could have been an interesting legal battle over the kids but the writers didn't seem to want to go there.

Good Lord! was not expecting that final scene. Yuck. Thought I was in a narconovela there for a moment.

"Like faithless suitors everywhere, Carlos tells him he wants to take it slow."

Great line Blue Lass, as was this:

, and it's just the same old tired argument until Nuria appears out of nowhere and literally stabs her son's father in the back. And the front. And from a couple of acute angles. She's really getting into it.

Ah those acute angles, who knew back in boring old geometry class (well, actually I wasn't bored...I was confused)that acute angles would pop up again in my life in a rather dramatic way.

Well ramp up the gore and the death threats, we do be in ultimos capitulos. Color me mostly annoyed but occasionally horrified.

But grateful for such a witty recap. Thanks.

Just Galloped through the recap, savoring all the great lines. I'm sure you had as much fun composing this as we all did reading it. Thank you.

JudyB--Well done--ANNOYING is right. I wonder if the writers aren't also toying with Rob and Vick. She's too explicitly flirting with him. Maybe she's wondering, too, when this is going to end and she can give in to him. 'Cmon writers, give us a little slice of heaven before you sign off.

And whatever happened to Season 2 of LDVDEC? Hasn't it been awhile? I hope they don't do this to PASL. That would be cruel and unusual punishment, like what happened to poor Daniela. Obvio, Ale isn't going to make it in time. Is she ever going to be shocked. Nuria is out of her mind. Too bad we didn't see this developing over time. It would have been a much more interesting thread than some of the legal cases we got.

LDVDEC? I must not have watched that one.

If they're casting season 2 of this now we should not have to wait too long. I just hope that most of this season's cast carries over or this is not a true TV series.

Blue Lass this was short and to the perfect point. What a bloody mess. Not
A misunderstanding either.

"But things will be different now that
We are ALL back together". Right, she
Knows actually what she's saying.Honey
Up to something. And Ricky dicky has
Something to be concerned about. Here
We go.

Letty. Has not changed. She's the same
Heffa she's always been. She said that
To sting ally. And it did. She's in for an ass kickin, not an anvil, but an
Ass Kickin. Whatever liking I had for her is gone. She can go jump back in the sack benny. They're perfect for each other.

If alejandra wants rick she needs to act like it and stop letting Carlos from hand touching & Rubbing and kissing her. He's fighting Harder for her than she is for rick. Now Whats wrong with that picture? The ball is in ally and ricks court. He needs to straighten out lena now, while she's nice. Hahahah nice!?

The Durantes brother need to go to the
bathrooms and change their really full underyonders. El ciego is a complete
Nutjob.

That last scene was bloody, so much hatred. Do they have the death penalty
I'm Mexico? She'd probably get that sentence in America, depending what state shes in. The preview for Monday didn't look Good either. We'll have to
Wait and see.

All 3 of the exes are coming to the birthday party and the 3 Amigas will get Pickled, what could possibly go wrong? Oh Oh Oh joy!
It's clear to see that ally didn't take after mom. Maybe after Jaime, he
Kinda defended carlos, like daughter like father.
Thank you Blue Lass

When does Season 2 start?

People en Espanol has this article, which says that Season 2 will have cases outside Mexico, for which they need Alejandra. I can't see her only being in 20 episodes.

The series' Wikipedia page indicates that shooting for Season 2 began on June 11th. According to the same page there were 3 months' worth of episodes in the can before it began airing, so possibly it will go on the air in September in Mexico. We have been about 20 episodes behind here, so we may get Season 2 in October.

Which will then be a very busy month for me.

No spoilers about who is or is not coming back, please -- we like surprises!

Urban--LDVDEC was La Doble Vida de Estrella Carillo. In it, David Zepeda wore a ranchero hat and grew a beard.

Last I heard, LDVDEC will NOT be getting a second season. I’ve said this elsewhere that I normally oppose a segunda temporada for a telenovela since the ones I’ve watched never really needed one BUT I am gonna watch PASL2. The only telenovela I felt ended very cliffhangerish was LQLVMR. I don’t know if it ended in such a way that absolutely needed a second season but it wouldn’t have hurt to do some sort of epilogue at least.

I’m gonna keep what I know about the PASL1 ending to myself. I am looking forward to reading y'alls reactions though.

Thanks, Blue Lass. My part 2 fave:

Benji tells Carlos that "after this is all over" he wants to come and work for the Ibarra firm. Like faithless suitors everywhere, Carlos tells him he wants to take it slow.

I don't see how Benji can successfully launder now that he's been exposed. Seems to me no one would want to touch a transaction with him since he's likely being investigated.

Suddenly, the show turned into Psycho. Yikes.

Lots if funny finds as usual. Three thumbs up.

Niecy I posted your patagraphs and tks!

Of and para

Blue Lass, thank you for this dose of humour and wit. I loved every word, but especially enjoyed the following lines:

"Elena continues to display the personality transplant they accidentally performed on her when they were just supposed to be stitching her up"

"Elena shouts, pouts, and whines (guess it was just a partial personality transplant.)"
"Ale doesn’t seem to be aware that the writers are toying with her. The door doesn’t even bump Julieta’s butt on the way out before Carlos sweeps in"
"Carlos disconsolately pulls bills out of the bag, which incidentally matches his outfit perfectly. (Hey, I get it! He’s an accessory! Jajaja."
"Lourdes will bring Alonso and the shrimpy one will bring her heretofore-invisible husband"
"Lety makes a snide comment about how wonderful it is that the whole family is back together again, causing Alejandra to droop like a day-old flower. (Girl, there was about a nanosecond when everyone didn't hate you, but you blinked and missed it.)"
"...until Nuria appears out of nowhere and literally stabs her son's father in the back. And the front. And from a couple of acute angles. She's really getting into it."

I came here ready to rant about all of the absurdity, but JudyB took care of it for me in the most eloquent way and I second her every word, especially the "Olivia being all "whatshallIdo????" with Leo. ANNOYING You've been slavering and crying over him for eons, now that he comes around you're hesitating? For the gray-haired Pillsbury Doughboy? Get real!".
OMG, I just can't stand her character, she is so damn annoying! And Leo with his sudden undying love is even worse.
I think it's obvious to everyone that Olivia will end up with Leo, not with "Pillsbury Doughboy" (that's a good one, JudyB), but I personally would rather watch paint dry (or even stoically soldier through the entire world cup) rather than see the "blooming" of this so called "romance".

And I am so bloody pissed off by all this Elena personality transplant. It makes the entire legal battle for the children plot completely moot! After suffering through this bulls.it for weeks and expecting some epic legal battle now it's being completely ignored.
And how absurd is it that the social services didn't get involved at all when the children's only parent was in a coma for weeks. One would think they would want to make sure that the kids are being taken care of and not being sold for organs or loaned to pedophiles.

I gave up on Alejandra long time ago, so I couldn't care less which one of the so called galans with win her over, but I got to give it to Carlos, the guy is a fighter and doesn't give up. He really is fighting for her, while this dumbass Brick does nothing but needlessly self-flagellate about Elena's accident. I am sick and tired of him, his microscopic self-estime, his annoying spoiled children and the whole love quadrangle in general.

Irene

Irene Carlos is fighting Harder for her than she is for rick. And rick to busy Feeling it's his fault that loony-Lena got involved with a doopdud
And letty is not all that smart. At all
As a matter of fact she'll probably be
An even bigger sluthead. Her being a
Good lawyer does absolutely nothing for her character.
