Corazón Que Miente, Week 6 (7/9/18) Thursday Update: Come Out, Come Out, Wherever You Are

Cris overhears Mari advising Liso to get in touch with his inner happy-boy and offers his support...a little too intensely. Liso panics and rabbits off. Later, Cris calls him, but Liso rushes him off the phone. Too bad he's not hiding in an actual closet, or some of us would have bingo.

In separate visits to the parroquia, Flo tells Dan she doesn't want to get married while Santi says he has to -- it's the only way to get Renata out of his, ah, head. Dan encourages Flo to stand up and do the right thing but just kicks Santi out coz he's an idiot.

Flo arrives late to her own bridal shower and announces that there is not going to be a wedding, no way, no how. Carla swoons and Edward fumes, but she holds her ground. "You can't make me!" Hmm...not so sure about that. Is she really ready to support herself as a dowdy dress model, or does she plan to move in with her no-rent brother?

Sara invites Mari over for...well, not sure what the ostensible purpose is (tea? snacks? a little sunbathing on the patio?), but basically just to get up Demian's nose. Everyone behaves predictably, although Mari delivers her lines with a little more panache now that she has abuela in her corner. Alonso loyally backs her up as well. And since every visit to Casa Ferrer is a complete carnival funhouse, Al and Mari have to run the gantlet on their way out: Renata pulls her crushed and noble act, and Rog pulls a pistol on Noe.

Flo comes knocking on Liso's door to tell him she flipped the tables on their overbearing parents -- and he was her inspiration, giving it all up for Mariela! He's too adorably ethical -- or just too tired of pretending -- to let this lie and, after a bit of hemming and hawing (unrelieved by Florencia's complete and utter cluelessness), he finally comes out with the truth. Yay! Now four people know!

In other news:

Sefiro, all perked up and in a clean suit, is off to hunt for Witness #2 in Mexico City. Well, Alternate Mexico City, so he'll probably run into him/her in The Only Restaurant or The Only Hospital. He should def stay away from The Only Bar.

Denise leaves town. Nobody misses her.

Santi tries to log into his laptop and discovers that none of his passwords work. Is that Daddy's subtle way of saying "Get Florencia back or you're fired?"

The Televisa makeup department has been doing a particularly lovely job on the smoky eye lately, so why is Sara still using grape Kool-Aid?

Comments:
Whoops! I almost forgot: Sara goes to see the Uncorrupt Policeman and asks him if Leo is still a suspect in her daughter's death. The UP says he was never really a suspect. Then how about Demian? Well, his story was backed up by Rogelio and Eduardo, so...Sara tells him that those two perros "bark when they're told to." So, yeah.

B!ue Lass, thank you . YOU ROCK!.! I love, love, love your funny, down and dirty quick takes. I have not seen this show in awhile, but I feel as though I will be able to call right back in when I finally am able to watch. Summers are crazy, no?

...fall ..not call #,damntablet

Susanlynn, looking forward to a more leisurely patio in the fall...(aren't summers supposed to be relaxing? Not so much!)

I'm not sure I could do a full-length recap anymore. This seems normal now.

Cris overhears Mari advising Liso to get in touch with his inner happy-boy and offers his support...a little too intensely. Liso panics and rabbits off.

Loved "rabbits off" especiallt but the whole sentence was perfect.

I was really annoyed with both Mariela and Cris in that scene. They were pushing Liso way too hard and it's not up to them to decide when he comes out. That's his call. And with his family...a very hard decision indeed. I find this story line very poignant because gays and lesbians often find themselves in dangerous situations, even if their families are accepting. So coming out is not a decision to take lightly. Or to have taken for you.

The Sara/Mariela/Alonso confrontation bothered my also because she tipped her hand about her abogado going to Mexico City to get a witness concerning the will. Jeez, way to set up poor abogado for a quick exit from life. Tearing my hair out with this girl.

Someone asked yesterday if we felt sorry for Denise. Well, she has been used and treated badly. And you'd think at least Señor del Rio could drive her to the airport. But Leo, when he sulks, does a thoroughgoing job of it. Great looking fella, but males modales if you ask me. ('Course nobody did).

Thanks Blue Lass. Your short and snappy recaps suit me just fine. We need to get back to the old days when Melinama would recap a whole week of episodes in a few paragraphs. And it worked.

Thank you, Blue Lass. I like the short recaps. Nobody ever said they had to be long. 🙂

Loved
Sara everywhere sharing her sage advice and inviting Mariela over to HER house

Loved
Flo’s announcement at the shower.

Hated
Ctristián not understanding the word “subtle”.

...wow....lots of returns of those shower gifts.

Blue Lass - thank you for yet another entertaining, LOL, succinct bunny-recap-let! Several of your lines had me LOLing, and I haven't even watched this episode yet. I prefer the brief recaps, though it takes talent to condense them they way you have been doing! Such a way with words ..... :-)

Blue Lass, thanks again for these entertaining recaps...I read them before watching and it REALLY helps. Some of the actors are much easier to understand than others. I have a hard time with Mariela's speech. Sara is delightful to listen to (as some one on the patio has already pointed out). I have one question about Santi: above you mention he is going through with the wedding because he wants to get Renata out of his mind. But what did Dem tell him that sort of lead to his acceptance? Was there something else about the family that was said?

Who thinks Denise is gone for good? That would be odd. Leo is just a mess...I really have lost patience with him...just like the Padre has.

And thanks to the rest of you for joining in with extra tidbits! Well, now to see today's fiascos...I'm looking forward to the shower!

Molly's Dister -- as I understood it, Santi is willing to marry Flor as a way to gain his Father's love and acceptance. Good luck with that, Santi, you're just a pawn.

O/T: “Mi marido tiene familia 2” started in Mexico this week with clearly outstanding ratings for the first three episodes. : )

Molly's Sister, I hadn't thought of it, but reading the minicaps and THEN watching the epi is a great idea! That way you have the broad outline and can focus more on the details (and FF through anything too brutal.)

I'm wondering if I could watch MMTF2 without having watched the first season. It sounds really good! And believe it or not, we're almost halfway through this one, which should wind up in mid-September.

Bunnycap for Friday, July 13: Part 1

Sefiro gets clocked: He has no trouble finding Witness #2. Unfortunately, W#2 thinks he’s an agent of Demian Ferrer who wants to rub him out that way he did W#1, so he snake-charms him with a waving pistol while his son sneaks up from behind and knocks him out with a bottle. Then they run away, leaving Don S behind in their sickly-green living room.

Santi gets crocked: Dem blows up at him for spoiling the wedding by not pretending to love the girl and tells him what a useless so-and-so he always was and always will be. Santi snaps and throws all his pastel-colored sweaters into a suitcase and roars off…to a bar that serves spindly 130-pounders as many double whiskeys as they want. He calls Mariela and threatens to kill himself but won’t tell her where he is.

Flor gets shocked: She’s completely blindsided by Liso’s admission but rallies sweetly, promising her eternal love and support. She jumps right onto the you-should-tell-the-world bandwagon, though; he continues to resist. Maybe he’ll tell someone every week, and by the time we’re in últimos, TWELVE people will know.

Ren gets mocked: Rog says Dem has the Mariela situation in hand, so she might as well lay off the coquettish little intrigues. She says he doesn’t know what he’s missing; he says, right back atcha. The man has confidence, I’ll give him that.

Bunnycap for Friday, July 13: Part 2

In other news…

Al comes clean to Mari about his meeting w/Denise. She is grumpy that he didn’t talk to her right away and refuses to believe Leo has a pash for her; that’s just Denise being jealous. Al looks doubtful.

Julio tells him Mom he still doesn’t approve of Rog, but he will come back home. She is overjoyed.

Dan congratulates Flor for doing the right thing. She worries that her father could take away her credit cards and her car, but Dan reminds her he can’t take away her integrity.

Sara tells Alonso a long story that’s supposed to explain the origin of the enmity between the Ferrers and the Del Rios but really doesn’t. She was dear friends with Leo’s Dad? And her husband was jealous? But it was all very innocent? There’s not much there there. But she ends by making the point that everyone was against Leo and Luci the same way they’re against him and Mari, so he should be more understanding.

Ren & Rafi scheme to act out a fake fight that might make Sara take Ren’s side so she can get closer to her. Yeah, good luck with that.

Bunnycap for Friday, July 13: Gran Final

Everybody in the bar -- and all the parking valets -- watch a slurring and sobbing Santi lurch out and climb into his car, but no one does anything, even when he drives right over a large potted plant (excellent effect, by the way: pause and admire it.) Then everything goes very driver's-ed film for a few exciting seconds before Santi wipes out on a bridge. I'm not sure he's in a coma, but he's definitely a mess, along with his car and presumably all those pastel sweaters.

Every doctor in Puebla operates on him, and the lead traumatologist finally comes out to tell the immediate and extended family that his life is not in danger, but...HE MAY NEVER WALK AGAIN. Caras de impactados de todos!!!

Thanks, Blue Lass. As for MMTF, you will just have to give it a try. Also Season 1 must be lurking somewhere out there. . . 🤫 Then there are our recaps . . . 😊

Just finished watching. Another slap-happy episode at the hand of Sara! The whole Santiago accident plot: so predictable but oh so fitting. I felt sorry for the lawyer almost losing his life investigating.

Thank you, Blue Lass, for another great snapcap.

Leo "has a pash" for Mari.

I also got a kick out of Liso sharing his news with one person a week !

Oh Blue Lass, thank you for yet another sassy, snarky, succinct bunnycap! You have a give, for sure.

"She says he doesn’t know what he’s missing; he says, right back atcha. The man has confidence.." Um yeah, confidence and quite the anatomical bulge in the front zipper area of his pants that she is clearly not noticing on a calm day. Nobody else's pants fit like that. Just sayin' . . . which might be why Elena can not resist him?

Sara's comment to Dem about being careful with Santi, don't treat him so badly or write him off, or he (Dem) might be sorry made me think she might have a clue about the Patio's CrackPot Theory™️ that Alonso is really the son of Leo.

gift, not give, thank you tablet....... 🤪🤪🤪

Great paragraph and a nicely staged scene. When things get grisly I try and admire the camera work rather than getting caught up in the emotion. Doesn't always work. But this was pretty standard stuff including the gathering of one and all wringing their hands in the hospital waiting room afterwards.

Still quite happy with the pacing of this. Action moves right along, skullduggery, slapping, hysterics, mortal danger, forbidden lust, parental machinations, female machinations etc. etc. etc. as Yul Bryner used to say.

Love your bunny caps, Head Bunny. They rock. I imagine Monday will bring a lot of browbeating and chest beating and mea culpa's. Can't wait!

thank you Blue Lass I am loving your bunnycaps! [I failed to come up with another rhyme for "-ock" you nailed it.]

I'm happy to see that my poor understanding of Spanish wasn't at fault for not understanding what Sara was explaining to Al, there wasn't much there there...

What is the temperature in Puebla, what is the season? Sara is dressed shawls, Rog wears turtle necks. leather jackets and Ren in skimpy dresses/ bathing suits. maybe the actress playing Sara has a "no neck" contract.

I cant figure the actor playing Rog out, he seems to be in a different show or maybe on stage where he has to project to the back of the theater. My personal head cannon is that he is a really nice guy who doesn't know how to play evil and goes big.

i really like Mari character, she is passionate, capable and a true friend. I think her "outbursts" or "gives no f*$#s" is a pleasant change from the all too familiar "good girl" themes we've endured forever.

thanks again, and short recaps are perfect.
Rena (not short for Renata!)

"What is the temperature in Puebla, what is the season? Sara is dressed shawls, Rog wears turtle necks. leather jackets and Ren in skimpy dresses/ bathing suits." I know, it's crazy! Everyone wearing wool coats and ren is in a sun dress. Maybe she is just such a hot number, she doesn't need a coat.

Yesterday was fun with Sara and Mari wearing green while Ren and Rafi show up in red. Team colors! Yay!

Will Santo be wearing a neck brace the next time we see him, for a bingo square?

Bingo squares. Here is what I have, but I don't think I have a full set. Any additions? This novella covered slapping many times over.
