Corazón Que Miente, Week 6 (7/9/18) Monday Kickoff: Alonso and Mariela Lock and Load
The newly-tipsy lawyer, whose name I guess I’m going to have to learn (I think it’s Sefiro), upends every bottle in the house and passes out cold on the living room floor. (Coma? Do we have coma?) Fortunately he is discovered by Mariela, who calls an ambulance. More shall be revealed. The avances suggest that Demian may have had something to do with his tragically absent family, which might explain why he’s the only attorney in town willing to go up against Quadrum.
Labels: miente
And sorry but no, BL, passed out drunk does not qualify as a coma. Carmen had her diabetic coma we we will be content with that. For now. Maybe we will get another shot at it. Someone is bound to end up in the hospital with a cervical collar, in a coma, right?
And there is bound to be a DNA test to prove Al's true parentage. Maybe as a crucial blood donor.
"Carla attempts to launch a wedding-planning session with Florencia, who won’t come out from under the covers. Not a good look for a bride" ... that had me laughing. Um, yeah, Flo wanted nookie, not a wedding. Bless her heart.
It's time for Leo to go. And, really, Mari's hand in his knee yesterday was really not appropriate. I'm glad Al broke up that tete-a-tete.
Slutzilla... er ... Renata is not to be trusted. Will she pull the famous get Al drunk and dupe him into thinking he impregnates her?
Existential question of the day: Could the true root of the animosity between Dem and Fr Dan be that Dem is jealous that Dan has better hair?
Alonso sure told Mariela what she wanted to hear. Once everyone finds out about their romance it will be interesting to see how it all shakes out and how they find their new positions on the “chess board”.
Mariela should have told Leonardo up front about Alonso. It can only get worse. If he turns out to be Alonso’s father, at least she could still keep Leo in the family.
I wish we didn’t have to see Elena’s future if she falls for Rogelio’s act.
doris, yes, the hand on the knee was a little odd with a man who is like her father or uncle. Good comment about the cause of the jealousy. Ha!
They both cheerfully admit their respective novios are just placeholders.
Ouch!
And this:
He goes on to make his feelings crystal clear: she got what she wanted, he hopes she’s satisfied, but she should know he isn’t marrying her because he WANTS to. (What kind of table decorations go with that theme?)
And I love Doris' question...is the animosity between the two brothers because Father Dan has better hair? Yep, in spite of the fact that the fella who plays Padre Dan is really short, I do have a serious crush on that Silver Fox. Ever since Juan Querendon in which he played a real baddie. But such a cool, suave, well-dressed baddie that it was easy to like him. In a way. Ahem.
Anyway, always get a kick out of your take on things and our small but lively patio. But Lurkers...where are you? Speak up!
Thanks Blue Lass.
I have not been able to watch this show or comment much because of visiting family.
Judy....padre Dan played a super villain in Sombra. Did you watch that one?
Wow... and ouch...Santo was brutal to F!or.
NudyB on her iPad
I didn't check off my bingo card for Carmen's coma because I don't think it counts unless people are standing around watching. But there are still many possibilities, especially since several of our main characters are doctors.
Anyway, all I need for my first bingo is "Main Couple Breaks Up," and I feel pretty confident about that one. It's WAY to early for true love to run smooth...
Lisandro throws his weight around a little: he says he’ll step aside if Alonso makes Mariela happy, but he’d better make good on all his promises to her or he’ll lose the world’s greatest girl AND his best friend. Then he is “overcome with emotion” and leaves, smiling secretly.
Lety throws caution to the wind: she wishes Santi a happy marriage, and he says not likely, so she perks all up and lets him drive her home.
Julio throws his posies in the bin: he sees Lety flirting with Santi and gets pugnacious, so Lety tells him to push off. He does not take it well.
Don Sefiro throws up his hands: no one can win against Demian Ferrer. He used to work for Luci’s father until he caught the no-good yerno doing jobs on the side with company funds and equipment. When he denounced him to Don Gregorio, Demian falsified documents and framed him, causing him to lose his job, his career, his reputation and his family (who only went to Monterrey, so it’s not quite as tragic as he makes it sound.)
Leo throws Alonso out on his ear: coming back for a forgotten passport, he catches our lovebirds making out on the couch and really loses his maracas. And then misses his plane, natch.
Sara throws aspersions: she tells Renata that she might as well put some clothes on, since Al’s not home, and while she’s at it why not pack her bags and go back to Vallarta? Ren says Dem invited her and only he can un-invite her, and Sara replies that will happen faster than she thinks – as soon as he gets what he wants out of her. And he always wants something.
Julio throws a fit: he tells him Mom that only she believes Rogelio has changed and threatens to go live at the church.
Denise throws a curve ball: she makes a date with Alonso and tells him Leo is in love with Mariela. Presumably she wants to double-team him somehow, but it’s not clear what she has in mind.
Mari and Leo saying goodbye was verrra creepy. I thought he was going to mouth kiss her after all. Ewwwww!!!!! 😛
Leo attacking Al was OTT and completely out of line. The man is loco. Get thee to Spain, Leo!
Does anyone else vacillate between feeling sorry for Denise and immensely disliking her?
Grow up, Julio. She's just not that into you. BTW, you're safer living at the church than at home with Rogelio, who will eventually send you or your mother to the hospital.
Glad our tipsy lawyer is drying out. Nice subtle PSA with the AA sponsor checking on him. Dude, don't drink and go to meetings. Punto! We need you to uncover and expose all of Dem's nefarious deeds, so Mariela Savethelands can saveherlands.
Loved the convo between Sara and Ren. At least Ren's boobs look real. I'll give her that.
Another enjoyable episode. Things are moving,
Thank goodness Denise’s arrival spared us Leonardo kissing Mariela. I wonder if the actors had fun with Leonardo secretly lusting after Mariela. I think it would be hard to keep a straight face.
Will Leonardo ever leave now? With Alonso knowing the icky truth this will get even uglier.
Julio is a problematical character for me. I cannot stand him when he is pursuing Lety but he is his deluded mother’s only hope.
doris, Sara’s advice to Renata was perfect. Sara was so dry and matter-of-fact in her delivery.
Sara THROWS aspersions.
Oh yes, she did! Her scenes are the best in every episode. And helps me get through the gag-worthy duet of Leonardo and Mariela. I've gotten quite comfortable with the romance with Alonso, so I bristle whenever Leo closes in.
Carmen used a dicho that I'd never heard before which I loved...about leaving without saying good-bye.
El que va, va suspirando, el que queda, queda llorando.
Yep, it sure is easier to leave than to be left behind. Anyway, always quite chuffed when I learned something I may be able to use in conversation...even if it's only in a conversation with myself.(Does anyone else go around talking to themselves in Spanish if only to practice? Our cat must surely be bi-lingual by now.)
And yes, Renata's attributes look real and I actually like the singer/actress. She's doing a good job as a deceitful skank. As is the odious Rafaela.
I'm sure our cats understand Spanglish, but they don't listen either way.
Rog spots Renata displaying her wares out by the pool and tries to collect on their unfinished business. She proposes a tit-for-rat-a-tat: if he makes Mariela disappear, she’ll pay up. He says he has to ask Dem for permission, but if he approves they’re a go.
After observing the body language of the above meeting, Sara suggests to Ren that she might want to turn her considerable talents to a paying job…say, at Bluebeard’s. “Everyone knows it. Just ask around.” We are treated to a scene-cut to a cathouse, with Tio Demian splayed out under the administrations of the Queen Kitty. (When is someone *attractive* going to get busy on this TN?)
Take a deep breath: Lety tells Mari that she saw Denise meeting Alonso; Mari confronts Denise; Leo overhears and demands an explanation; and Denise gets evicted from his armpit and his house. Bye, Felicia.
Rog learns from Elena that Julio has decamped to the Padre’s, leading him to correctly guess the location of his safe. He makes short work of all the locks, removing two pistols (one still shrouded in its handkerchief, the other ready for use) and replacing the safe in the flimsy cabinet.
Father Dan sees Rog skulking around the church and says he doubts he’s come to confess. When Rog reminds him that God forgives everything, Dan says yes, but I don’t – I’m just a poor sinner conveniently holding a baseball bat, and if you lay a hand on Elena or Julio again I’ll break your face.
In other news:
Flo is having second, third and fourth thoughts about the wedding, but no one is listening to her.
Mari coaxes Liso to give boys a try, and Cristian is all for it.
Sara tells Carla that no, she cannot have the wedding reception at the Ferrer house: how about a more suitable location, like the circus? Yep, she went there.
Dem has some kind of plan to put paid to the whole Al-and-Mari coupling, but he won’t share it with anybody. He refers to it obliquely as a “fate worse than death” (and it can’t be seeing him in nothing but a towel, because we’ve already survived that.) I’m guessing Checkov’s pistol plays a role, but we won’t find out until tomorrow…
Running a close second on my Hit Parade is Father Dan. I get quite a kick out of him referring to the Almighty as "el Jefe" and reminding everyone that he serves a great God but can get down and dirty himself if need be. A priest with a baseball bat. What's not to love? (and a great head of hair)
Thanks for keeping us posted on all the nefarious doings. Your buddies on the Teeny Tiny Patio are very grateful, Blue Lass.
I absolutely loved when Sara suggested Renata become a prostitute . It was the highlight of the episode for me. I would love her to take Sara up on her suggestion and run into Demián.. Now that would be funny.
Blue Lass, ITA about nobody attractive “getting busy.”
JudyB, yes, Father Dan with his baseball bat was a sight to beg hold.
This whole “forced” marriage thing makes me think this must be taking in another century, a country other than Mexico or in a fundamentalist Mormon polygamist compound. I guess this could happen with young people who don’t necessarily have the living/business skills to support themselves apart from their families in the manner in which they have grown up. Time for Santiago and Flor to become “self-made” people and grab what $$$ they can and move out and on.
Not good that Leo sent Denise packing or that Mariela agreed to stay.
"tit for ..... tat" good one lol
Wow, looks like Dem has been a frequent flyer at Aunt Martha's place.
Loved Fr. Dan holding and swinging that bat while threatening Rog if he harms Elena or Julio. (great acting and bat handling by Ayala)
Sara needs to be sleeping with one eye open. She does a great job of skewering everyone but, yikes, sooner or later they'll get tired of it..
Karla and Ed want Flor to marry Santi because they think the family has tons of money laying around, that they need themselves? I think this is why they're really pushing for the family union. And they don't know Dem is almost broke, right?
Jarifa, I agree these young people need to learn how to stand on their own two feet, get jobs, leave home, etc.
Bless hear heart, Denise needs to cut her losses and never come back.
We know what Dem wants: for Ed to stick by his story that they were together when Luci was killed.
BTW, I loved the way Julio called Santi a "fresita" -- "little preppy boy" -- in front of Lety. Ouch.
