Corazón Que Miente, Week 11 (8/13/18) – Monday Kickoff: Amalita and Noé Reconcile. Yay!

Episode #51 (Revised)
*After seeing Al and Ren teaching each other mouth-to-mouth resuscitation techniques, Mari flees home to cry. She’s heartbroken.

*Rog is still delirious. Half-collared Dan leaves.

*Amalita tells Sefiro she ready for that divorce. He tells her divorce is expensive, but he has a cheaper way to resolve issues.

*Cris serves a new-wave French fusion gourmet meal he whipped up to Liso and Karla. She likes it. She smiles and wants the recipe. Cris says it’s a family secret, but since she's practically family, he'll share. Liso watches with pleasure. Liso is so happy he’s crying because his ma wants a chance to start over with him and be the ma she always should have been. She leaves after having a really good time and thanking Cris for her bracelet.

*Carmen stops Leo from intruding on Mari’s heartbroken sobs. She tells him she's heartbroken over Al. She loves him more than he can imagine. If Leo really loves her, then he should stop thinking about himself and think about her and wait for her to approach him.

*Antonio is resting. Crisis over. His investigator (whose name seems to be Luque) urges him to see a specialist about his heart. Tomorrow he’ll look into the Ferrers and Quadrum. Denise calls. She and Ant make a date to have lunch the next day. They are both pleased.

*Leo has answered Fr. Dan’s request to get together. Dan catches him up on all the heavenly and not so heavenly news. No, he hasn’t lost his faith in El Jefe, but he has in man. He can’t share why, though. Leo guesses it must be about him or Dem or someone close to him. Leo wants to help. Dan accepts.

*Mari and Lety can’t sleep. They chat about Santi, Al and Ren.

*The two big buds go play pool (or billiards--what's the difference?). Dan needs help seeking out an old friend of his brother’s. They enter the Not-Leon’s Den (of Iniquity). Marta greets Dan as an old acquaintance. He’d like to talk to her in private. Leo gets entertained immediately by a black-haired beauty. (I didn't see that the "young ladies" are wearing short short Scottish dirndl-kilts.)

*Amalita has let her hair down and is dressed in shocking pink. She meets Noé for dinner and they patch up their differences.

*(Renata the dog, all dressed up, is pretty cute.)

*Rog is awake. He’s brought something red and something green to eat. The doc checks in on him. Elena arrives. He’s aware everyone is looking at him oddly. He asks for a mirror (which every self-respecting hospital room has at hand). He goes berserk, flailing about, breaks the mirror (ha-ha, 7 years bad luck) and in his mad-dog state stabs Elena with the fork. (It wouldn't have been the knife, because they are notorious for being so dull they won't cut a scrambled egg.) She’s led out bleeding while Rog is sedated.

*Dan asks Marta about Demián. She denies seeing him recently. He asks her what she had to do with the death of that chica esa that Preciado was supposed to have murdered. Marta denies anyone died. He keeps pushing—mentions that Rog told her all about it. She claims she doesn't know Preciado nor this Rog. She's no killer and no accomplice to any crime and can’t help him. She asks him to leave. He leaves telling Marta the truth will come out soon or later. She panics when the door is closed.

*Amalita and Noé: Musical Interlude. Close your eyes. It’s better that way.

*Dan tells Leo he has to keep Marta under observation. He wants Leo to accompany him, but not to ask questions.

*Doc patches up Elena. Julio arrives. Doc says it’s just a scratch, but she’s bandaged up like Tutankhamun’s mummy.

*Lety hears her parents arrive home in the middle of the night. Mari nearly whacks them with a bat. They’ve reconciled. The whole household is now awake, even Deni.

*Leo and Dan wait in what looks like a VWBug. Leo admits he came back because of Mari and he’ll never leave her side. Dan cautions—that is if she’ll have him.

*Ant sees the specialist. He gets the skinny on atrial fibrillation. He’s rightfully concerned when he learns he can have a heart attack at any moment. The doc will put him on medication to control it.

*Rog doesn’t want Elena’s ministrations and sends her away. He’s royally pissed.

*Dem is checking into Joe Morrison with Fab. Fab assures him everything in the proposal is A-ok. Fab admits he only worked for Ren’s dad during his last two years, so he doesn’t know how he amassed the capital to buy all that land. He assumes he bought it when the price was low. Dem tells him Santi is reviewing the figures and after that, they are good to go.

*Ren tells Rafie she let Al kiss her. He asked her again to be his novia, but she’s still taking her time. Rafie is curious about the land deal. She tells Rafie all about it out of our earshot.

*Leo and Dan have been up all night, still on Madam duty. When she finally emerges, they follow her to the police station and watch her go in. Dan gives up at this point.

*Elena left the hospital and came home. She tells Julio that Rog ran her off. She keeps making excuses for his behavior. He’s been through a lot. Julio doesn't agree.

*Al is going to check in on Santi. He tells Sara that he and Ren have started over again. He claims he had to insist and insist. Sara is sort of ok with it, as long as Al is content, even if it’s so soon after the Mari thing.

*Marta has come to see Preciado. She tells him about her night visitor and that Dan claims Rog told him everything. Preciado calls Dem right away. Dem is at the hospital to visit Rog. He can’t believe this could be true. Rog was completely out of it. Dem learns a padre did visit Rog the night before. (Question: Why would Dem care about the dead girl in Madam's Establishment? Other than the fact that Rog works for him, what is there to connect him to Preciado's "problem?")

*Rafie tells Ed that Rog has regained consciousness. Ed is pretty sure Rog didn’t see him. She tells him they can’t take a chance, Rog must die.

*Rog tells the doc, after he hears what happened to him, that he’s pretty sure it wasn’t a hit and run accident. Someone was trying to kill him and—he remembers the license plate numbers.

Comments:
I was completely distracted by Amalita's hot pink outfit and loose hair that some things were left out of the recap. Stay tuned. I'll incorporate them into the recap in another bit. See, it pays to WATCH the darn thing.

All done. Enjoy, if you can.

Thanks Anita.

I think that renata is a little scam
Artist. And she's gonna get alot of money from Demwit and the gang. Well
That's what I think I could be totally
Wrong. But what if...? Let's just keep
Watchin to see what the little tramp
Does. I can't stand her voice, it's mousy Is that the actress' real voice?

Half-collard Dan, good one Anita. If he
Can Hold on to his faith and expose Demwit And rog's crimes he'll be at the top in My book. Like father brown on Pbs Mysteries. He always solve the
Crime before the popo. And they're the
Best supposedly,Scottland yard? Not
That good. Well on pda anyway.

Lookin forward to the rest Anita. And
Thanks for this.

Rog does remember the license plate.
And I dont think Al is ok with ren as much as he's like everyo be to think.

Thanks, Anita.

It never fails to amaze me the speed with which novela character pair up and break up. No time lost waiting for a more suitable partner. Everyone could be “the one.”

Run, Elena run! Don’t look back.

Somebody needs to finish Rogelio off.

Looks like Rogelio won’t be as inconspicuous as he liked to be in the past.

Thank goodness there is a Carmen to stop Leonardo from acting like a Neanderthal.

The question is: does Rogelio really remember the license plate number or is he only going to say he does? If he knows several license plate numbers, he could try to frame whoever.

“Sin ti” is the new theme for Noé and Amalia? Too pretty of a song to be wasted on them.

Great as always Anita. I didn't think you could come up with any more names for Father Dan but you did!.."Half-collared Dan". Makes me think of a plow horse somehow. Also very funny to see Leonardo wedged into that VW Bug. It's really not comfortable for tall guys.

Glad the old folks spat has been fixed up. And I certainly agree with Cefiro...it's less expensive (emotionally and financially) than a divorce.

Glad madrina was there to stop narcissistic Leo from barging in on Mariela in her grief. What a middle-aged tool he is. Gah. But glad he hung out with Padre Dan as they visited Tia Marta's house. Yes, I understand prostitutes dressed up as Catholic school girls is very appealing to a number of men. Next!

Thanks as always Anita. You're a trooper.

Thank you for your recap, Anita, and for the snark. I’m out of town and will miss most if this week. Half-collar Dan, indeed. LOL!!!

Nina - I’m with you on Renata’s voice. She sounds like her huff of helium has almost worn off.

I’m pretty sure Rog has good visual/photographic memory of that license plate that hit him.

Thank goodness Amalita and Noe got their stuff sorted out. Ugh.

Yes, Jarifa and Doris--a couple of episodes back Rog does visualize the license plate. Ed is safe for now because we know Dem won't get his hands bloody and there's no one else standing by to substitute for Rog.

We'll miss your voice, Doris. Come back as soon as you can.

When super padre Dan noticed one of his parisheners with someone old enough to be his granddaughter sitting on his lap, and super Dan mentioned the man's wife, lol he got up and told
The hooker go away, he shooed her away her away like she was bug. he got up out of there like a fire was set under him. It kinda was. He was a funny lookin fella.

Nina-- that was funny, but only added more keystrokes to the recap. I'm trying to keep it short, since I'm doing it every day.

Episode #52 – Tuesday: Too much kissing the wrong persons- Pt. 1
NOTE: According to my on-screen guide, there will be no CQM tomorrow, Wed, Aug 15. However, knowing how fickle Uni can be, I would recommend checking in, just in case.

*Rog admits to the doc that he saw the license plate of the car that backed over him, but everything is fuzzy. He hopes his thinking clears up soon.

*Rafie and Ed have to give it a couple of days before dispatching Rog permanently.

*Dem comes to visit Rog. Rog tells him it was attempted murder, but he didn’t see the perpetrator. Dem says they have more important things to worry about and tells him about what Dan learned about Preciado, Marta and the dead hooker from Rog. Rog swears he did not tell That Confessor anything. Dem says they must make haste to get out of this new pickle they’re in. Preciado calls Dem to set up a secret meeting.

*Carmen & Deni both scold Leo for staying out all night. (Yawn)

*Dem, Preciado and Marta have their meeting. Preci says there are too many folks sticking their noses into their business, now including Fr. Dan. He won’t be able to control things. He tell Dem that if the truth comes too near them, Dem is going down, too. Dem pooh-poohs their concerns. No body. No traces. They’re safe.

*Ant and Deni firm up their plans for lunch. He’s feeling much better. Through lunch Ant talks lovingly about his dead wife. He hints that when he was young he did some things he’s not proud of now and wants to rectify them, before it’s too late. Deni learns he has no family, no children and assures him it’s not too late for him to find a woman who will make him happy. (I think she’s volunteering.)

*Lety is happy to go out to lunch with her newly reconciled parents. (Yawn)

*Leo is performing maintenance on his bike. He asks Mari if she’d like to join him on a little trip to the mountains with their bikes, rent a cabin for a couple of days, etc., etc. She agrees. They drive away.

*Al asks Santi, who is still flat on his back, if he would check the figures for the project in Bahía. He says bring it on, he’s bored. Then Al shares that he and Ren are back together. Santi is displeased but will only say that Ren is not for him. He sends Al away.

*Leo and Mari reach their destination and are greeted by the caretaker. It’s cold. They start their bici ride. (It looks like a pretty flat trail to me. That’s probably why they aren’t using mountain bikes.) Oh, and it’s misty out. It starts to rain. Mari falls off her bike. Leo runs to her side. Ouuw, ouuw, her leg hurts. She can’t walk. No cell phone signal. He carries her.

*Blue-collar Dan tells all he knows about the Marta-Preciado-dead hooker to Sefiro and Liso. They just can’t quite figure how Preciado fits in. Sefiro comes up with a likely explanation. They had to maneuver Preciado into a position where he had to go along with charging that homeless man with Florencia’s death. They decide to look for traces and identity of the dead girl.

Episode #52 – Tuesday-Pt. 2
*Ren is all excited telling Rafie about the resort project, but she’s distracted. Al calls Ren. He wants her to come help him with stuff. Ren arrives with enough lunch for a party, trailing CFM music. They exchange some wet kisses and then she insists they get to work.

*Karla weeps by Flo’s niche. She’s so sorry she was a lousy mom. (Yawn, except that it's Jessica Mas.)

*Doc tries to treat Rog. He’s resisting. He needs something for the pain, stat. He also wants his vision back. Doc says sorry, that eye is done for.

*Karla tells her son she wants a divorce. Liso knows it will be difficult, but he’s pleased she’s taking this step. Karla tells him Ed already has a lover—and for some time, too. Liso won’t let her go through this alone. Liso doesn’t think it would be ethical for him to do the divorce, but he had a professor he admires and calls him. The prof sees Karla right away and praises Karla for raising such a fine son. He’s ready to help.

*Rafie has a red and white land line phone on her desk, but her cell rings. Rog is on the other end. She’s been too busy to come see him. He demands her presence or Dem learns everything.

*Diego carries Mari as far as he can. Her leg still hurts, mist swirls, the phone won’t work and she’s cold and wet. Diego goes off to hunt for wood in the damp forest.

*Vacuuming and cleaning Leo’s manse is a noisy business. (Yawn)

*Carmen can’t reach Leo or Mari. She’s worried. Deni tells her not to worry. He’s a big boy. Oh, and she really enjoyed her lunch with Ant.

*Lety brings Santi a sooper-foamy cold brewed coffee. Drops on his cheek give them an opportunity to kiss. Before she can climb in bed with him, the doc interrupts and scold Lety. Santi pleads guilty. Doc sends Lety because they both need to rest.

Episode #52 – Tuesday-Pt. 3
*Al has been bent over working so hard his shoulders hurt. Ren is still hanging around so she gets to give him a massage. She sends messages that she’s ready for something else, as more CFM music starts to play. He responds in kind.

*Diego has built a huge bonfire, but Mari is still cold and wet. Oh dear, a kiss happens. It lasts a long time. (Hey you two, wake up, don’t you know you aren’t the end game?) Still kissing after the commercial break, Mari finally ends it and looks at Leo and smiles. (Sorry, but I would not be kissing someone who looks like one of those guys in Deliverance.)

*Al has his shirt off. Ren swears she’s never done anything like “that” before. She doesn’t want to lose his respect. She only wants to be a one-man woman and after what happened she’d die if he left her. Al says that will never change his opinion of her. She smirks over his shoulder.

*Ant gets the report on the Ferrers and Quadrum from Luque. He learns things have not gone well financially for the business enterprise the last year and also about the unexplained, derailed wedding of Alonso and Mariela.

*Rafie tip-toes in to see Rog. He wants a kiss. She recoils when he grabs her. Sadly, he can’t get “up” from his bed, but when he does, they’ll be seeing each other again.

*Some kid finds Mari and Leo asleep, sitting up, in each other’s arms. The kid’s dad is there with four-footed transportation. The folks back at the Manse are worried. Leo and Mari reach shelter. More kissing over coffee. He loves her. She cares for him.

*Al and Ren are so giggly at breakfast everyone notices. Well, they can’t keep the secret. Al tells the family he and Ren are back together. Dem is really happy. Rafie is happy, but cautious, Sara is just plain cautious.

*Mari and Leo return to the Manse. Leo announces to the assembled extended family that he and Mari are now novios. Ba-da-DOOM.

NINA- I can't stand her voice, it's mousy Is that the actress' real voice?----Yes, that is her real voice and though I think she is an excellent actor, her voice has always disturbed me as well. But, because she has always been a famous singer, she probably was afraid to address this problem by any procedure or treatment for fear it could change her singing voice. (I'm guessing!!)

Thanks for watching this so I don’t have to Anita. I DO NOT WANT TO SEE any kisses between Mariela and hapless Leo. Double triple UGH
Lordy, even the debacle between Renata and Alonso is preferable. Sounds like the SLOUGH OF DESPOND for me for a while. Wake me when it’s over will ya?
JudyB on iPad

Anita -

Oh noes!!! Al and Ren have done the deed, and Mari and Leo are all smoochies? No. Just no. Eew. Glad I’m out of town and could not watch this.

Thank you for your recap, Anita. Maybe this episode is more of a “recrap”? Either way, you took one for the Patio today and have earned combat pay.

Thank you, Anita.

I am having a hard time with Alonso being the galán. He has not been very well written. He seems to be a one dimensional pretty face who only wants an “available” female. I think he and Renata are a perfect match in terms of their shallowness.

Oh, well,we knew the kissing was coming. I did not find it particularly disgusting or Leonardo particularly unattractive. On the other hand, bike riding on that terrain in the rain was not too smart.

The family circle could be closing and constricting with Denise sort of liking Antonio.

The doctor should call the police if Rogelio continues with his abuse. I would love for Ed to finish the job with Rafaela.

Hi Anita, sorry to make your fingers do more typing, but that jumped out at me. I'll try to keep it on the down lo.

Fun recap by The way.

Amotelenovelas, I think if she was a
Good guy in this novela that voice wouldn't bother me one bit. But she's in The middle of the endgame couple so I Don't like nothing about her. She has A beautiful singing voice I bet.

I'm glad somebody else knows about the
The fake murder charge, but they need proof so padre Dan, liso and the white
Bearded gentleman better be careful.
Demwit and the gang may try something else like ruin the padre,or something.

That bad weekend get-a-way is enough to tell Mari they're not suppose to be
Together.I don't care how gooda kisser
He seems to be. Denise looked like she was about to explode when he said Mari
And I are novias. Mari didn't look all that happy either.

That must have been some nasty kissin
Rog laid on Rafie. She actually went in the bathroom and rinsed her mouth out. Can you just imagine he hasn't used mouth wash or brushed his teeth.
Your mouth can get pretty nasty after surgery cuz you cant move or brush your teeth or use mouthwash.Yuck! And Double yuck!

Thank you Anita.

Nina, oh Nina--Please don't keep scenes that jump out at you to yourself, if I don't cover them. It adds so much to the fun on the Patio (like Rafie's bathroom scene).

Jarifa--No, I didn't know the kissing was coming. But of course, once they were out in the woods by themselves, in distress, then I expected it. I also expected both Mariela and Leo to realize their error and fogeddaboutit Novios crap. We could have continued with the story with him pining away for her and she pining away for Al until Ren is uncovered...like Ren, "...never did anything like "that" before." Now THAT'S a bunch of donkey pucks.

Doris, you missed nothing. That bici ride was ridiculous. So was her fall. Mari wasn't really going that fast. She should have at least ended up muddy and had to strip first. Now THAT would have brought on a couple of kisses, but with my same desired results.

Anita, about the bathroom scene with
Ragie, I think she was gagging, tryin
To keep from throw in up. Yuck. Nasty.

Yes, Dulce Maria is a singer. That's her on the closing credits. https://youtu.be/UAFTmMZ-A3U

Is there anyone else who could play a better, less creepy Leo? TBLMOE Colunga perhaps? Juan Soler? Gabriel Soto?

Soler can do creepy (Apuesta), but he can also do EVIL, very elegantly (Reina) and also a sincere and playful lover - when not pushing Renata away, that is (CME).

Colunga would be earnest and hard to resist. But he would have to have very long hair and dress in 18th C. clothes.

Soto? Well, between Vino and Caer, I'm not sure where to put him.

Corazón que miente not on today. Fútbol scramble. Rosa de Guadalupe on instead.

Not Soto. Instead of "conflicted" he can only manage to look constipated. He'd be less creepy, though.

Anon@11:39 - Constipated! Perfect description. He's come a long way (down) from Querida Enemiga, Sortilegio and Un Refugio, no? In Refugio, though, we were always pulling for Pato to recover. Really, I thought Brandon and Laura Flores stole the show.

DORIS--"Is there anyone else who could play a better, less creepy Leo?" I'm not sure anyone could play this part well because it is---in my humble opinion--not a well written (or directed?) character. Unclear what could have been done with him.

AND...JARIFA: I also feel that ALONSO is not such a great galan and yes, I think SHALLOW and one dimensional are good descriptors. I suppose they are trying to present Alonso as possessing a good deal of integrity and being super respectful --of everyone, so it's probably hard to make someone like that sexy or super interesting or multi dimensional. Just a thought!

I am sickened over the kissing scene with mariela and leo--- and it is just plain unfair to make the univision viewers witness the M-L and A-R connections at the same time- one being super creepy and inappropriate and the other being frustrating as hell - ---UGH UGH.

I just started watching the DVD of El Manantial. Thank goodness I watched La Sombra del Pasado in its entirety or I would be lost. (That's a given with all the commercial DVDs, so I rarely buy one I haven't watched.)

But this is lo de menos. Perusing my list of tns I've watched I came across this incredible coincidence: Demian Ferrer is also the name of the character Cristian de la Fuente played in FELS (for all his 30 seconds of fame in that one).

What goes around comes back recycled....

AAAAH! ! That’s why the name of Demian Ferrer sounded so familar!!! However, i didnt realize it could be spelled DEMIAN. (Corazon) or DAMIAN ( FELS).

According to Wikipedia, this is a refrito do Laberintos de Pasion (ca.1999). #curious
"Leticia Calderón, Francisco Gattorno and César Évora starred as protagonists, while Manuel Ojeda, Mónika Sánchez and Azela Robinson starred as antagonists."*

C Evora's role was probably the equivalent of Leo in CQM. Hmmm....I wonder how that went. F Gattorno has never had a lead galán role AFAIK or have seen, so this character was never meant to be a strong one I guess?

*https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laberintos_de_pasión (my internet version of a footnote LOL)

Almost caught up...I love the way Cirila calls Denise "the cockatoo" -- too funny! And during the reconciliation dinner, Amalita got another title in -- "My heart doesn't lie." It seems to be making the rounds.

This evening's recap may be a little late, as I have jury duty. So far it's NOTHING like PASL. Not a single person has leapt across the table and tried to throttle another person with his own necktie! I feel cheated.

Blue--Take your time. There's nothing much else to watch these days.

Addendum--In Manantial (later remade as Sombra del Pasado), Alejandro Tommasi (our CQM Demian) played the role of the one-armed bandit that Alexis Ayala played in the remake. I really enjoyed watching Tommasi's rendition of an evil heartless man in the original, which, by the way, was a Carla Estrada production. (He also looked healthier in 2001. Then, he had a very distinctive receding hairline, which in CQM looks so artificial.)
